Don't worry, though. You can apply the same tactics to any other mode you're playing. Yet, this guide was, and is intended for those who want to unlock Warthog and the Twisted Gold trophy. I won't waste your time talking about the Trophies or how to get them, as they have no relation to this guide, whatsoever. Twisted Metal from here will be abbreviated as TM. This FAQ will help you in beating Twisted difficulty in TM as well as the easiest and best ways to getting a Gold Medal in all events to unlock Warthog. This difficulty is obviously the hardest to master in the game, judging by the name. It's a lot of excuse my language, but... Bullshit. This isn't very easy as it looks/sounds, and you're gonna have to apply a lot of strategy, know the maps, defending yourself, and other things that work for you. Before you go into the difficulty though, it's highly recommended that you beat the game on an easier difficulty so that you have a huge choice of vehicles to use. Certain vehicles won't be available to use for events like Boss Battles or Races. Such vehicles that won't be for select are both Juggernaut and Talon, so be sure to take note of that. For people that are just getting into the difficulty it's going to be tough as nails to get around. --------------------------------------------------------- 0.1: Disclaimer --------------------------------------------------------- This FAQ is copyrighted by Beau Ackley, and can only be used and seen on the following websites: GameFAQs.com and FurAffinity. Talon's helicopter physics are similar to a toy heli's controls (such as Air Hogs, if you recall), but the movement and flying sticks are backwards. You get what I mean? If you are already familiar with these controls, then you can read on to the next thing: Things That Make Twisted Difficulty Very Challenging -Opponents shoot you a lot This is the main thing that will cause you to be constantly on the run. Not only that, you're health will decrease much faster. This isn't good for low-armored cars such as Reaper, Crimson Fury, Kamikaze, and Death Warrant. They won't stop unless you manage to escape from them. -Getting frozen more frequently This will cause you to mash your buttons to restart your vehicle's engine more often, which will waste time and make you get shot more often from someone, which leads to the next part (also note that you will get frozen even more frequently if using Talon)... -Getting sniped more often This is a nasty thing that is added to Twisted difficulty. If your driver gets sniped, you lose the battle. You WILL get sniped a lot in this mode (like the Endurance Match at Watkyn's Harbor). Just hope that it hits your vehicle instead of your driver. Either that, or use the shield at the right time. If you see a red laser pointing at you, then BEWARE OF THIS. Try to run for cover so that it won't be pointing at you. This issue can be easily eliminated by using Talon, as they can't snipe your driver in that vehicle unless you are on the same ground level as said opponent. -Boss Battles restart upon dying You see, the bosses are supposed to be extremely tough on this difficulty, but only one of them is, which I will explain much later in this FAQ. When you die in a certain part of a Boss Battle, it starts over at the beginning. It really sucks when you are on the last part of the boss and you die. It does (tell me about it)... Also explains the next part. -Bosses dealing slightly more damage Bosses like Iron Maiden fire more deadly adversaries at you, and they deal very high damage. There isn't much to get around this, but... Be on the move constantly to avoid these attacks. Oh, and she might come to haunt your dreams. =P -Bosses having more health Not only are the bosses tough as a rock, but they will have more health than they have on easier difficulties, and will require twice as many shots to beat (three times in a couple cases). Mega Guns are really helpful to use, and will get around this problem. -Turbo consumption You're gonna be using Turbo ALOT in this difficulty, and you need to use it for the races. In some cases, you'll need it to get away from persistent opponents. Sometimes you'll need to thrust your controller forward. REMEMBER: thrusting your controller forward to get maximum speed and to get away from people faster will consume half of your Turbo capacity, so don't thrust your controller intentionally or accidentally because you might end up being scrap. Note that it's not possible to do this with Talon. The only thing that makes Twisted Difficulty a bit less challenging is... -Gold Medal Times being easier to achieve Boss Battles like Sweet Tooth's Carnival of Carnage have the Gold Medal time increased in duration from 12 minutes to 14 minutes (Gold Medal time spoiled. Not really, as that was just an example). But you still have to be pretty darn fast to be able to achieve a Gold Medal. The events that are tough won't guarantee you 100% easiness. There are a few tricks in which you can be successful in this difficulty: -Long range shooting You probably already know what this means. It means that you use your firepower in long, safe distances to damage other opponents. This is good for chopping the opponent's health down at one place. Homing Missiles are the best thing to slowly degrade the opponent's energy, as well as Stalker Missiles, Fire Missiles, and (sometimes) Power Missiles. Using Talon will also give you this huge advantage. -Freezing others Pressing up on the Directional Pad will throw a Freeze (a.k.a. an EMP, as it is also called in-game) and home in on the opponents. This will give you a few chances to throw your firepower at them. The opponents can do this to you, too. So be careful. Using Rear Freeze (Up+Triangle) is usable, but it costs a LOT more energy than regular Freeze. -Huge Ram Damage (Juggernaut only) Using Juggernaut, you can drive into other opponents and deal out a huge chunk of damage to REALLY destroy the others. In fact, doing this to Reaper will result in an instant kill. This is good for quickly killing off the weaker enemies, too. -Mega Gun usage Mega Gun pickups are indicated by a much more "greener" color, NOT to be confuse with Remote Bombs, which has a pale green color. Using these will greatly increase the damage you deal with the machine guns, and are recommended for the Juggernaut events. -Garage usage If there are no Health pickups to get or if you aren't near one when you are about to die, then immediately go to the Garage to switch out your vehicle. This is good for Deathmatches and Endurances (if there actually ARE no Health pickups). There are a few events that DON'T have a Garage, and you'll be stuck with the vehicle that you chose, which can complicate things or make things easier, depending on the restrictions. -Rear fire Pressing down on the Directional Pad will fire most weapons backwards like the Fire, Homing, Napalm, Remote Bomb, and the Shotgun. Just be sure that some of them hit the opponents for some damage when getting away. -Shielding Pressing right on the Directional Pad will create a Shield that will protect you from firepower for a single second. It doesn't protect you for very long, however. -Mine placing Pressing left on the Directional Pad will drop a Mine behind you that will explode upon driving over it. This is great for damaging opponents that are hot on your tail. That's pretty much everything about Twisted difficulty and how to beat it, based on my personal experience. If you guys have experienced other difficult or strategic things in Twisted difficulty that isn't present here, please let me know. ======================================== 2.0: Car/Sidearm Selection Details & Other Tips ======================================== Vehicle Statistics, from Death Warrant to Juggernaut (also will include unlock conditions. The vehicles you will mostly use for battling are Juggernaut and Talon, sometimes only either one. There are different types of events that limit your choice of vehicles such as Juggernaut and Talon not being available for the Bosses, and Races (except for Talon being in Sweet Tooth's Carnival of Carnage in the final part). As for the sidearms, I usually go for the Mounted Guns, sometimes the Rockets. Normally, it won't matter. If you already played as both of them with good enough experience, then you'll need to take my note of advice: choose the cars I recommend. I know this guide might not look perfect to you, but it's probably for the best. Pick what I always recommend. I'm trying to help you and others out to beat the Story on Twisted difficulty with the best and safest methods of doing so. Unless you're pretty damn good at the game, you obviously don't want to choose the vehicles with weak armor for battle like Crimson Fury, Reaper, or Kamikaze. Pick high-armored vehicles for that case. The weak vehicles are better off left alone except for two. You'll see why later. When playing as Talon, you never want to stay close to the ground. The Talon is one of the weakest vehicles in the game, and I HIGHLY advise staying at a medium-high height to make sure that you don't get shot as frequently as an on-ground vehicle. Talon is more of a Broom than a ground fighter. What I mean by this is that Talon can clean things up quickly, and can end most events fast, as long as the enemies are weakened by your Juggernaut(s) slamming them into next Tuesday. In some cases, you NEVER want to start out AS Talon, as it becomes a pain in the ass to try to get to a Garage, unless you're fast enough or if the event itself calls for it. Just start out as Juggernaut, and then weakening enemies. Then switch out for another Juggernaut to weaken them some more and probably get a couple kills. Then switch to Talon to finish the job. You always want to have a plentiful amount of weapons in stock to shoot enemies from long distances and pick up the Mega Gun Bullets for twice the damage and speed. Combining all of these with Ram Damage will deal a pretty damn good amount of damage. Using the Turbo Dash by thrusting your controller forward (just be sure that you don't let go or drop it lol) against an opponent will deal additional damage. Just remember that it consumes 1/2 of your Turbo capacity, and be sure that you don't do it on accident, or right when you get frozen. Shield is very helpful. But it only lasts for a second. As long as you have enough energy for shield when a Freeze/EMP is coming at you and when you prepare for it when driving any car (other than Juggernaut, who is completely immune to Freeze), you'll be fine. Just note that the Shield can't protect you aganst EVERYTHING. The spiky swinging balls will DESTROY you when hit by them. Even if you have a Shield active, you'll still take damage. Remember that Juggernaut can Shield more often than any other vehicle in the game. Remember that in most events, you'll have three choices, but that doesn't mean that you have three lives. If your vehicle explodes, it means that it's a game over, and you lose. There are Garages in the game, so be sure to get to one when you are close to dying. There are times where your driver character will get sniped, and it'll be the end of you. When you spot a red laser pointed at the front or either side of your vehicle, be sure to Shield at the right time, turn away quickly, or try to speed past them. There are a few events that have been made to up the chance of your driver getting sniped. You never want to get angry or pissed off. If you don't know, being angry makes you do stupider things. Being rageful results in total stupidity. So the best thing to do when you die or restart an event is to keep your cool. Staying calm and being concentrated will lead to more skill and fewer mistakes. If you are completely cool-tempered, you can pretty much do the whole event in a few tries. I think I have explained everything. Now then... Are you ready for this? Be prepared to restart and die... A lot. ======================================== 3.0: Sweet Tooth's Story ======================================== --------------------------------------------------------- 3.1: Classic Death Match - Sunsprings, CA --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Easy Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Juggernaut X2, Talon X1 Recommended Sidearm: Any This event isn't really difficult, and is probably one of the easier events to get a Gold Medal on Twisted difficulty. The best method for getting Gold easily in this event is by getting to the Garage, and going up and down the street and trying to ram them. Jug's Special is pretty powerful, but is most likely not needed for this event unless you want to deal extra damage (I would advise being careful not to drive over the placed mines). Just keep doing this until you are in need of Health. But for this case, just go into the Garage and switch out your heavily damaged Juggernaut to a newly fresh Juggernaut, and do the process a second time until you get low on Health again. Now when going back into the Garage, take out your Talon. Speed high into the air, and remember to Shield against those Freeze Missiles when they come for you. Hovering through, find some Missiles and Mega Gun Bullets to aid you in your hunt. The enemies may be weakened, but that doesn't mean that they won't die. I don't know how, but whenever I weaken the enemies with my two Juggernauts and switch to my Talon, some of the enemies have their health restored some. They probably picked up Health when I was changing vehicles, but that's besides the point. Moving on... You need to stay at a long range, shooting the enemies to lower their health more. Don't throw out your Special unless said opponent's health is really low. You can kill them without the need to use your Special, too. If you run out of Mega Gun Bullets, it's not a problem. Either get them again or continue. Other than that, just keep picking up weapons and shoot them as fast as possible. Remember that you need to beat this event under 7 minutes and 12 seconds for Gold. If you do manage to beat it under that time, good job. Also, this happened to me once: my driver getting sniped. I just happened to get unlucky with that. So please proceed with small caution. --------------------------------------------------------- 3.2: Death Match - Killosseum --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Very Easy Gold Medal Time: 4:48 Recommended Cars: Juggernaut X3 or Juggernaut X2, Talon X1 Recommended Sidearm: Any The Gold Medal Time may look intimidating, but the difficulty of this event isn't hard at all. You can choose if you want to use three Juggs or two Juggs and one Talon. In this walkthrough, I'll explain the triple Juggernaut method. You don't really have to do much, just drive near the Garage and... Just go back and forth on the side. Shoot the weapons backwards and be sure the switch out to the other Juggernaut when your health starts to get low. Don't get stuck on the edges, as you will suffer some health. Just simply ram the other enemies, and you'll be able to finish this event with a Gold Medal no problem. If you're facing against Sweet Tooth and you see him flying, freeze him and ram him immediately. With these things in mind, you'll be able to pull through. --------------------------------------------------------- 3.3: Electric Cage - Metro Square --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Hard Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Juggernaut X3 or Juggernaut X2, Talon X1 Recommended Sidearm: Any I managed to do this with 3 Juggernauts, but I guess I'll explain how I did it with the 2 Juggernauts and a single Talon. What I did in the first cage is I just circled around the entire area. You wanna do the same. Just circle around the first area, and you might get a couple kills. When the cage starts blinking, it's about to move. So check on your radar map on the top left corner and move towards the red, where the next Electric Cage will be. Just try to keep ramming the enemies, try to freeze them so you can. This area is much more open, so you can easily bump down the other vehicle's health meters. When the cage starts blinking again, it'll go back to the place where you started. The place where it's open will be the area you are gonna need to ram the others. And it's not very hard to do so. The Garage is near the place where you started. It's okay to go out of the cage, as it won't affect your chances of getting Gold. Now you want to pick the Talon. Why? Because the Ice Rink makes it VERY tough to control your Juggernaut there. So fly over to the next cage and use your Special on the weak drivers. Pick up the Health so that you won't have to do more work and waste more time. Collect some more pickups and use them against your opponents. There's a Power Missile to the left by the middle staircase, so pick that up. Eventually, the cage will move. It will be in the area where the tram bridges are. So use your special when they come over to try to destroy them or dum down their health a bit. Then pick up the Health so that they don't recieve some. Just take it when necessary or when you need it. Freeze them to try to make them sit still so you can shoot some firepower at them. The cage will move back to the Ice Rink. Here, you can finish it off or destroy some more of them to save you time. Remember to pick up the Health so they don't get it. And... Why not pick up another Power Missile? Use your Special and other weapons when needed, and it's pretty much the same. Like about... Two cages ago. =3 Try to light 'em up and be sure to pick up some more weapons on the top of the stairs. If you didn't finish the event here, you can do it the next time the cage moves. It'll be back here you were before the second time you were at the Ice Rink. Use your Special to shoot them while they come back to you. And try to freeze them when you can. Now the cage will move back to the place where you started. If your Grace Period runs out at this point, consider yourself to be fine or dead. It depends on how much health you have. Just try to kill them off as they come to you. As you probably don't know, they like to hide when you're in the Talon. You will most likely need to restart if you go over 7 minutes. Good job if you manage to finish this with a Gold Medal. In short, try to kill off the opponents as fast as you possibly can, never use Juggernaut at the Ice Rink, as it will be close to impossible to control it there, and be sure to ram the enemies as much as you possibly can before you go there. --------------------------------------------------------- 3.4: Juggernaut DM - Watkyn's Harbor --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Very Hard Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Talon X3 Recommended Sidearm: Any This is appallingly difficult compared to anything you've done on Twisted difficulty up to this point. You're going after a Juggernaut, which respawns an enemy after every 30 seconds. The reason you want to start out as the Talon is because of the use of Mega Guns - the best and safest way to destroy a Juggernaut. You'll have to remember this for other events like this. Check the roofs for the Mega Guns, and search down the street by the gas station. Thankfully, there's a ton of them in this event. You can find them pretty quickly as Talon, searching on the roofs. Pick up a few more weapons like Fire Missiles, Remote Bombs, Homers (not the fatherly lump), and be sure to pick up some Health when needed. Now go find the Juggernaut, and keep shooting at it until it is destroyed. But don't stay close to the Juggernaut. You will die if you do, especially in the front (though it DOES do more damage, but I still wouldn't recommend attacking the front). When the Juggernaut is destroyed, it will return to the original Death Match. Feel free to pick up more Mega Guns if necessary. In fact, it is. You can destroy low-armored cars very easily with those. It will become a breeze from there. If you don't have Mega Guns, then you'll need to pick up more weapons and shoot them. Also, be careful when they freeze you. You don't want to recieve a really huge amount of damage. With this kind of strategy, you won't get killed off, and will flag this one as Gold. --------------------------------------------------------- 3.5: Desert Twisted Race - Diablo Pass --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Very Easy Gold Medal Time: 4:48 Recommended Car: Crimson Fury Recommended Sidearm: Any This is really easy, and will be the easiest event for Sweet Tooth's Story. You most likely will not need a strategy, and will probably get through this no problem. The only trouble is that you cannot miss 5 gates. Now you can take shortcuts, but be wise and know the track really well because you never know where shortcuts will make you miss a gate or two. Just be sure that you drive over the Bomb Switch at the end. If you are having problems with this event, email me and I will see what I can do. --------------------------------------------------------- 3.6: The Brothers Grimm --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Medium Gold Medal Time: 7:12 The first boss, in my experience, is by far the easiest of the three bosses. You are forced to use Roadkill. Don't get worrisome, though. The vehicle has decent speed, and decent armor (not the best). But you MUST keep away from both Hammerhead, and Slayer. You also need to stock up on LOTS of firepower as you go along. A Power Missile is inside the clock tower next to the movie theater. Destroy it (or have one of the gigantic monster trucks take it down), and pick it up. Now when you start firing, only concentrate on either Slayer (yellow) or Hammerhead (red). They both have the same exact amount of health, so try to make every shot count. Especially the Power Missile you picked up earlier. It IS okay to take them both down in the end, and it'll pay off, but the reason why you need to focus is because of the next part. Another Power Missile can be found in the center of the map, in the area where the houses are. Remember that they are very strong if you just rush into the monsters head on, and you DO NOT want to do that. Just use Shield in a situation like that. Now kill off the monster truck that has the lowest health, and then the next part of this boss will begin. If you manage to get through this part with no problem at all, these bosses can prove nothing to you. But I'll explain this part: one of the monsters will activate their armor, and you can't really damage them at that point. The hard part is trying to get underneath the monster (that's what I'm gonna be addressing, since it would be redundant saying "Hammerhead/Slayer" every time). If you got a good feel for claustrophobic areas, and are brave enough to go underneath the monster's tires, you can get by this part really easily. Use Turbo to keep up with the truck, and be sure that you take it easy and focus on staying under it until the "Deploy Gunner" is at 100%. Because on Twisted difficulty, it's hard to keep up with the monster without any Turbo. There are refills that you can pick up all over the area, so pick one up if you're dry of it. You never want to go head on into the truck itself, as it will cause a painful amount of damage. Pick up some Health when needed, and there's Mega Guns in the Church along with it. Sometimes you can go underneath the tires, but if you're coming up from behind it, and if you hit his tires on either side, you will get thrown out when driving. To prevent this issue, let go of Square as you're going by them, and you can go under it's tires no problem. But if you don't, it's tires will fling you out, and it's a slightly complicated obstacle. Also, be sure that you can stay at the same speed as the monster to be a little safer. If you can successfully get the Deploy Gunner meter to 100%, the Planting C4 phase begins. From here, you want to keep your distance from either Hammerhead or Slayer (depending on which one you destroyed first) and try not to get killed off. Pick up the Power Missiles that you did earlier, as well as other weapons. Now when the C4 meter reaches 100% you will listen to a bit of dialogue. When that detonator icon lights up, activate it with the R2 button. You don't have to listen to the dialogue, just detonate it. Besides, you want a Gold Medal, right? Now the final part of this battle begins. The armor has been blown off, and now you can get back to shooting at it as you did with the other monster. Just blast away at it with your firepower, and that'll be it for this boss. Well done! You have 1/3 of the Story completed on Twisted difficulty with Gold Medals! Only two more stories, 12 events left! ======================================== 4.0: Mr. Grimm's Story ======================================== --------------------------------------------------------- 4.1: Dual Juggernauts - Diesel City --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Very Hard Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Talon X3 Recommended Sidearm: Any Right off the bat, a TERRIBLY difficult event. This is quite possibly the hardest event to get a Gold Medal on Twisted difficulty. I'm breaching the stuff with Ghost Town Gulch in the third Juggernaut event. You're gonna need minimal knowledge if you want freaking BRONZE, for crying out loud. You're not facing one, but TWO Juggernauts, and the event itself is more of a pain than it was before. At the start, pick up the Mega Guns from the top of one of the hills, and one on the turn where a building is in construction near the place where you found the first pack. Now go find one of the Juggernauts and use the Mega Guns behind it. Shoot your Fires, Homers, Stalkers, or Swarmers to kill them faster. Another pack of Mega Guns on the bridge. Nearby will be a Power Missile to pick up. Now finding the other Juggernaut, it will take a similar path as the one you destroyed, but it will be driving through the city part of the map instead of underneath the bridge, also similar to the one you destroyed. Throw your bullets and firepower at it. Once it's destroyed, it will be like a normal Death Match. Another Mega Guns location is in the building where there's boards all over the sides after the jet pipe. Just fly into one of the levels, and you'll pick it up inside pieces of junk in the center. Fire your power at the enemies, and use the Special if necessary. Just be sure that you shield against the Freeze missiles, as it will annoy the hell out of you and others. Pick up Health and run over drivers with the blue + symbol when needed, and use your Shield often. --------------------------------------------------------- 4.2: Small Area DM Battle - Grindhouse --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Easy Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Talon X1, Juggernaut X2 Recommended Sidearm: Any The reason why you want to start out as Talon is to destroy the purple rotating movie discs at the top of the movie theater to snatch some Health. So when you switch out to your Juggernauts, you can pick it up, you can fall through the hole in the roof, and it'll be much easier. Once you destroyed it, immediately switch out to one of your Juggernauts. Now what you want to do is you want to... Well, use the same strategy as you did with the Juggernauts earlier in the game: go back and forth, ramming everyone and staying near the Garage. Only go after the Health when your goose is starting to get weak on your other Juggernaut. Rinse and repeat. It's the same strategy that you've been using ever since the start of the game on Twisted difficulty. And with that, this event will be pretty much golden. --------------------------------------------------------- 4.3: Electric Cage - Thrills And Spills Park --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Medium Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Juggernaut X2, Talon X1 or Juggernaut X3 Recommended Sidearm: Any This Electric Cage match is much easier than the one in Metro Square. The thing you need to know about this event is to know where the Health is at, and try NOT to go out of the cage very much. Be sure to grab Health when you start getting low. And be sure that the enemies don't take it from you. If you see Health outside of the cage, just get it anyways. No need to go like "Uh, I shouldn't go outside the cage". No. Just get it and return back to the cage. Ram the hell out of everyone as much as you possibly can. You might get a kill or two, possibly more. When the cage starts blinking, that means it's time to move. So on the radar map, you will see some red when the cage moves. Just like you did in Metro Square, you need to memorize where the cage will move next. Just be sure to NOT fall in the ditches, as it will be very hard to get out. The place is very open, so you can freeze your enemies and ram them to knock them around. If you happen to get near a ditch, throw your Special mines in there, as enemies tend to drive into them. There's one in the second location where the cage is, and like I said earlier, you CANNOT fall in there. You will suffer a lot of damage, and will take a while to get out of there. Grab some health when appropriate. The cage will move back to the place where you started. You can drop your Mines while driving towards it (oh there are MANY ways you can damage enemies when you drive to a cage) and fire your weapons backwards if you choose. Once you get there demolish everyone you see, and you should be able to kill more opponents. Also, be sure that you don't get stuck underneath the rollercoaster rail. That would be a stupid decision. If you can wiggle yourself out, then it won't be a problem. The cage will then move to another location. On the way, you will see the Garage. You can choose to enter through it if you want. If you are in need of doing so, you can just go ahead and switch to Talon. But if you got tons of health, you can stick with the Juggernaut. Chances are you won't switch out and you'll be stuck with a single vehicle for the entire match, which is fine. You will be able to finish the event off when you get to that cage in the Juggernaut. You can even beat this in 5 minutes with just Juggernaut, possibly 4 and a half if you're really good with it. --------------------------------------------------------- 4.4: Endurance Battle - Watkyn's Harbor --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Hard Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Juggernaut X2, Talon X1 Recommended Sidearm: Any Snipers... I hate them... I honestly thought that you had to beat this under 5:48. But upon closer inspection... I was looking at the wrong event, which explains why I did it under 5 and a half minutes... With loads of restarting. Anyways, starting out as Juggernaut, drive to the garage, and be sure to circle around back and forth from one end to another to weaken the enemies, and then repeat the process with your other Juggernaut. Like I said, watch out for snipers, as it makes this event really difficult with 'em and they're pretty common here. Now for the Talon, you want to pick up the Mega Guns. The Mega Guns are in the same places the previous time you fought here. Shield often and against freeze missiles. Just use your firepower to kill off the weaker vehicles and to get this event done faster. Just be sure to keep moving, and try not to use up all of your Turbo (I mean you can use it, you don't want to run out of it). Like I said earlier, the snipers won't get you up high in the air as the Talon. You need to be fast, as your opponents tend to run away. Go after them with your Mega Guns and firepower and shoot away. Make those shots count, shield against their freeze missiles, also like I said earlier. Hopefully that with enough nimbleness and strategy, you will Gold this one and consider yourself to be good. --------------------------------------------------------- 4.5: A Race To Battle - Sunsprings, CA --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Medium Gold Medal Time: 5:24 Recommended Car: Crimson Fury Recommended Sidearm: Mounted Guns This is a bit more difficult than the previous race because there's a battle at the end. This is also the place where you can get the "Racing? In a Twisted Metal Game?!" trophy. Crimson Fury is one of the weakest vehicles in the game, so I advise picking up the Mega Guns along the way. Once you're in the stadium, go to the other side from where you entered, in the back of the right. Don't go too far back. I'm not sure what will happen if you do (probably die). Once the other three racers finish, lure them into where you are and use the Mega Guns as well as your weapons that you picked up along the way. The weaker cars tend to die faster, but are quick. So you may need to freeze them to get in your shots. Remember that you always want to go for the weaker cars, first. So while you're racing, try to damage them. The track path is also very tricky, so you might have to restart a few times to get it down. --------------------------------------------------------- 4.6: Iron Maiden Battle - Dead Man's Crossing --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Insane Gold Medal time: 10:48 Recommended Car: Reaper Recommended Sidearm: Mounted Guns I take back EVERYTHING of what I said about the Dual Juggernauts DM. This is the hardest thing the game will ever present to you trying to get Gold on Twisted difficulty. You're gonna have to do this with minimal concentration if you want freaking BRONZE. You're going to have to beat this almost really fast for Silver, and if you want Gold, well... You'll have to cheat. I'm just joking on that last bit, though I have not started to describe how close to impossible it is to get Gold in this hell of a Boss Battle in under 10 and a half minutes, but... I could spend 1 MegaByte ranting about the extreme difficulty of this, but I'll save you readers some grief since I love you all. :) First, you'll need the Reaper with the Flaming Chainsaw method, which has super high power, but it's the weakest vehicle in the game. You'll still have to execute this beyond the bonds of flawlessness. The beginning is where the hardest part of the battle is. From there, DO NOT go for the red limosine immediately. It's better to take out the white ones first. Do this by freezing them first after igniting your first chainsaw, and then throw it at them for an instant kill. Do this to the other two limos since they will annoy the hell out of you upon sacrificing the leader if you don't (and possibly kill you). The Reaper has a fast sacrificing meter, so that means that sacrificing the leader to launch a nuke will be fast. Now that a nuke has been launched, try to make it fly into the Iron Maiden, and be sure to trap her. It is possible to do so. Be careful when flying the nuke for two reasons: 1. If you run out of fuel, not evade the energy balls that the Iron Maiden shoots out, or fly the nuke straight into a wall or barrier, you have no freaking hope in HELL of beating this under 10 and a half minutes. 2. It's not really that difficult to avoid the energy balls than it is to use the shield to protect you from them. So only use the shield when Iron Maiden shoots out the energy spheres for that part. Once you hit the Iron Maiden with the first nuke, proceed with the same strategy as usual. But this time, the vehicle will start moving and you'll need to stay in the green circle behind it to launch another nuke. Try to do the same as you did the first time: destroy all of the white limos first, and then tackle the red one. Remember that the limosines can pick up health, so be sure to kill them fast enough before they do so that you can grab some when you get low. Now that you launched the nuke, try to hit that bitch again. Now here comes the second part of this boss battle. This method is very safe: just stay in the tunnel before the bridge. This will make the Iron Maiden's legs drop down slowly. This is where you can use your firepower to damage her at last. Fire up a chainsaw, and then when her legs drop down, throw it at one of them, and then do it again. It really doesn't matter which one, as Iron Maiden herself will take the same amount of damage for either. Oh, and be sure to save some Turbo for a part after this next one. The third part is her now setting up an Electric Cage, which isn't too much of a problem, but I usually have troubles staying inside of the cage. There's a Self-Destruct Meter, which means that if it runs out, you die. 40 seconds, nonetheless. Anyways, you still have to do this really fast, and be sure to not hit a lot of those heads that come out of her (...wait, what? Lol). Two times with the flaming chainsaw (and I hope you are accurate in your shots), and then the next part of this hellhole will begin. The Electric Cage is still up, unfortunately. If the Self-Destruct Meter is close to being empty, you might as well just restart or die and start the battle over. If you have plenty of seconds (or hopefully, did not leave the cage at all in the previous part), then you can exit the cage and ignite your chainsaw. Also, did I mention that you need to save Turbo for this part? Well, just be sure that you have plenty of health and jet at her with that Turbo, slamming that flaming chainsaw in her face (though, not neccessarily IN the face. Anywhere on her will do)! HOPE that you survive that part. Unless you have Mega Guns that you picked up, you can use those to damage her from a safe distance, but it will be harder to survive, so I'd shield for that part. Here's probably the second hardest part of the battle mainly because it's just her head, this time. Her head only means that it's a smaller target, thus making her harder to hit. There's a little exploit, where you can get her head stuck, and you can wail at her head with the flaming chainsaws, and the battle will end a little dramatically. But since it's a small chance of that happening, trying to hit her while you're out of the tunnels makes it harder than it looks. It's important to note that when her head starts charging at you, throw that flaming chainsaw in her face! It makes it hard when her heads starts moving up and down vertically. But there are heads flying out, and they are DEADLY when they hit you. Player beware, and make sure you don't hit one of them. When she does that earthquake-type attack, throw another flaming chainsaw at her. Try to make sure that you aren't as badly accurate as I am (seriously. I need to work on it). Then try doing this two more times. And with a LOT of luck, you'll get... Silver :P Mega Guns are usuable in case you can't make your Flaming Chainsaw shots accurately. In fact, I did. If any of these occur aside from dying during this hellhole boss battle: get knocked around by the limos a lot, miss a lot with the flaming chainsaw, pass over the Gold Medal time, fall frequently, or fail to hit Iron Maiden with a nuke, kiss any hope of getting Gold goodbye. If you do this battle perfectly and fast, you STILL probably won't get Gold, unless you are damn good at the game (which I sure as hell ain't), and even then, you won't get Gold, probably. I'm completely open for tips and strategies via comments or my email. If you're going for the email, my email is Beauackley@Yahoo.com. Please give me tips and tricks to make the game easier and this boss battle. UPDATE: This is actually possible to get a Gold Medal on Twisted difficulty, and I really exaggerated. But it's still very, very hard. You cannot hope to win Gold unless you don't take too long in a part of the battle, so just don't take too long and try to not die, okay? Unfortunately, that's easier said than done. Anyways, if you DO manage to get Gold on this, congrats! You've completed 2/3 of the Story mode on Twisted difficulty with all Gold Medals! Only one more story to go! ======================================== 5.0: Dollface's Story ======================================== --------------------------------------------------------- 5.1: Endurance Battle - Killosseum --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Easy Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Juggernaut X3 Recommended Sidearm: Any This is a pretty straightforward event, even on Twisted difficulty. 10 Kills is all you need. The only problem is that you may get sniped. As for the strategy, all you have to do is go near the garage and circle around the side back and forth and be sure not to fall in the Lava Pits. If you do, you might as well restart. Every time you start getting weak, get to the Garage and switch out to another Juggernaut. Remember to shield against those sniper reticles. Another thing you have to watch out for is that if you get stuck into the tunnel that sinks down into the ground. Reason why is because if an enemy falls in there with you, that would suck. Otherwise, it won't be a problem, as you can stay there until you come up. So yeah, this is an easy event for Twisted difficulty. And before you know it, this will be done with a Gold medal. Who knows? You might get it on your first try. In fact, I did... After I fell into the Lava Pit, so I didn't count that as a try because I just started the event at that time. --------------------------------------------------------- 5.2: Mean Juggernauts DM - Ghost Town Gulch --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Insane Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Car: Talon Recommended Sidearm: Mounted Guns This is close to being the most difficult event on Twisted difficulty. I got a Gold on this by a huge miracle. This is probably the second hardest event in the game on Twisted difficulty. I will do my best to explain how to do this really fast, but note that if you aren't a good player, you probably will never get this or in fact, never get past this event, it is so difficult, you might possibly have trouble getting freaking BRONZE, for crying out loud... You will probably get this in 7 minutes, which might be a close shave if you are a cautious player (which I said earlier, I am, unfortunately). A lot of people complain about this event, as you are fighting two Juggernauts like you did back in Diesel City, but they are armored, and are stronger. So you are gonna have to be on your toes for this event. There's only TWO Health pickups in this area: on the top of the arc in the canyon area, and at the back of the Ghost Town. The Health will respawn, and if you lose some very early, you are gonna have to pick these up. Mega Guns are the best and safest way to take a Juggernaut down in the Talon, as they can home in on enemies. There are a total of 3 Mega Gun pickups: one inside a building in construction in the Ghost Town, one by the entrace of the Ghost Town on a pathway to the top of one of the mountains, and one in one of the caves near the dead end. The problem is that you can only pick up two of them for a full stock. Once you have at least one Mega Guns pickup, fire your stuff at one of them. Hopefully you'll kill it off without taking TOO much damage (if you did kill it off, suffering a ton of damage, pick up one of the Health packs). Afterwards, pick up some more Mega Gun Bullets and fire at the other one. Hopefully the result will come out okay. Now it just comes down to the normal Death Match type, as usual. Now to make sure you are in safety, just go on top of one of the mountains. Kinda like a waiting game. Except you are gonna get annihilated if you just stay up there. Any Mega Gun Bullets you have, USE THEM. Firing your missiles and whatever else you have at the stronger enemies, you can calm the opposition down a bit. Just don't try to go head on into them, as it will destroy your Health. Also, did I mention that Health respawns? Yes, I did. Just pick it up when you are a little weak. It takes quite some time for the Health to respawn. Use your Special at long distances to slowly chip away their health. Just try not to get really close to them. It does get easier with the Mega Guns when you used up your Special. Just try to shield when they try freezing you. And with luck, which you need a lot of for this event, you'll be able to get Gold on this. This was a toughie, but you got Gold on this. Give yourself a pat on the back. --------------------------------------------------------- 5.3: Endurance Battle - LA Skyline --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Very Hard Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Juggernaut X2, Talon X1 or Juggernaut X1, Talon X2 Recommended Sidearms: Any This is a pretty irritating event to get Gold on because the AI can start some serious business and can probably snipe you if you're not careful. As the Juggernaut, you are gonna have to weaken the enemies as much as you can. You can rear fire your Special in the center of the map, where there is some sort of bowl, and is great in case enemies fall and spawn there. You need to take down that tower to get the health there. Just place your Mine Special behind. Always. The AI tends to drive over them. Turbo off the ramp that leads to the Calypso Industries building. Turn right
and you will see a slope that goes up into the second floor of the building. By the blue C. Go up and drive out of the building itself. You will see Health, so remember that. Now just go up and down, but not around the bowl to weaken the enemies some more. You'll probably pick up a few kills along the way. Once you start getting weak, head to the Garage, which is where you go off the ramp that has a Turbo Refill and Mega Guns. If you selected a second Juggernaut, select it and do the process again. If you selected two Talons instead, or if your second Juggernaut gets weak, switch out to the Talon. As the Talon, you want to go at the maximum height of the map, as it becomes a really big onslaught if you hover downwards and stay close to the ground. Use your Special and try to kill off the ones that are the weakest. They don't tend to hit you much while you are sky high, so you'll be a little safe at that height. The Mega Guns are where the glowing letters are, so you can pick them up and go after the ones that are a little weak and you can kill them off no problem. Just watch out for the freeze missiles, as they can mess up your mojo. If you get weak, find some Health as soon as freaking possible (or switch out to your other Talon if you selected another one). At that point, it becomes hard to get through this hell of an Endurance match. You just can't seem to get by this on your first try, and it doesn't get any worse than that (unless you have a lot of strategy in mind). When facing against Sweet Tooth as Talon, his Laughing Ghost Special stays out for quite some time, so you have to jet away from it as far as possible. The good thing about going against it is that you can Shield it. It does TONS of damage if you don't, and it's a pain to avoid. All in all, this is a horrendous level made from the deep bowels of hell, even if it means that it takes place high in the sky. If you got Gold on this, good job. You are pretty much a short way away from being done. --------------------------------------------------------- 5.4: Fight For Your Life - Metro Square --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Easy Gold Medal Time: 7:12 Recommended Cars: Juggernaut X3 Recommended Sidearm: Any You may think that this would be pretty hard because everyone is going after you simultaneously, but you would be wrong. This isn't really hard to do. In fact, you can ram the others to death and still win. Trust me... Juggernauts = 400 Health. You have three of them, and 400 X 3 = 1,200. That's a big number. And ever since the start, everyone's been gunning for you. So it won't make a difference whatsoever. What you want to do is take control of the center area. What that means is that you just drive up and down to bounce them around. They most of the time drive right into you head on, and then they take SERIOUS damage. Especially the weaker vehicles. Turbo Dashing into the vehicles will throw some more force into the ramming, causing even more damage. Remember to shoot your weapons backwards when driving back and forth. Pick up Health when you start getting weak, save for the Garage, which you'll need when you get weak again. I mean, the event is surprisingly easy, considering that everyone's after you only. The vehicles tend to drive right into you and suffer. Only switch out when you start to get weak. Shoot your opponents as much as you possibly can. Just be sure to shield against snipers yet again. --------------------------------------------------------- 5.5: Check Point Race - Diesel City --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Easy Gold Medal Time: 10:48 Recommended Car: Crimson Fury Recommended Sidearm: Any This is just way too easy, except you need to reach certain points and drive towards the blue Cs and make sure to get the checkpoints down. Make sure you don't overshoot the landings. Otherwise, restart. The moving checkpoint will be a Health Semi that moves on the road. After crossing the bridge that tumbled down from the hill where the second to last Checkpoint is, jump over the cement walls and be sure to stay on the right side of the road to find the semi. To win, you must do the same action as you would do for a normal Health Semi. You can easily Gold this if you got the track layout down. Now, there's just one more event to go! You're almost done! --------------------------------------------------------- 5.6: Sweet Tooth's Carnival of Carnage --------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty: Hard Gold Medal Time: 14:24 Recommended Car: Shadow Recommended Sidearm: Any This is it. The final event in the Story to get a Gold Medal on Twisted difficulty. You have come this far to finish it all. Your craving for Warthog and the Laser Pistol is coming close. This boss is the only thing left before you succeed in Twisted difficulty. Let's do this. The first part is pretty annoying, as the Sweet Minions are pretty much magnetized to you. You need to shoot the clown head to get inside the vehicle. The reason why I recommended Shadow is because it has a Special that increases in damage the longer it goes for distance. You want to destroy the clown head as fast as possible. You might have to restart this a couple times to get it down. It's hard to get Health here too, because of the pickups switching around between the tires. Be sure that you don't get bounced around when you go in between them because you will slowly take damage. Also, Shadow has a huge consumption of Energy when you use Shield or Freeze, so use either of them wisely. Once the clown head has been destroyed, zoom in there really fast to get inside immediately. You will recieve some Health doing so. We're up in a pinball-esque like area. Use the Mounted Guns on the +'s to enable the bumpers to give you health when you drive into one. You need to destroy the clown face in here as well. There are clowns with chainsaws, as well as a few with bombs. You want the ones with bombs. To throw a bomb clown into the area, you have to drive into the target across from the clown face. If you happen to have a clown with a chainsaw get on you, drive into a bumper or use your Shield to get rid of them. Otherwise, they will slowly decrease your Health. You will be able to run over and shoot them to get rid of them that way. Once you get a bomb clown on your car, you need to turbo off of the rotating ramps and into the clown face. Make sure that the arrows on the ramp you are on turn green. You need to do this at least three times, as indicated on the top of the screen. In case you don't make it, you can Shield the explosion. It takes off 1/6 of your Health. If you happen to run out of Health Bumpers, you need to be careful. The bumpers that don't have any health can damage you for quite a bit. If you happen to run out of Turbo, there's a refill by one of the pinball flippers where the clown face is. Once you destroy the clown face, the next part begins. You are going to the top, but there are obstacles to get past. It's okay to get hit by the little bombs, as they don't take THAT much damage off of you. You need Turbo for this, so that way, you can get past the obstacles in one piece. If you don't have Turbo, then you might as well restart. So you must boost through the obstacles, and it's about timing, really. The first set of obstacles, aside from the bombs, are the fans. Turbo through the spaces and then stop to get ready for the next. Rinse and repeat, simple as that. Next will be the saws. You can pick up a Turbo refill before you go through them. This is the only time where you encounter them. So do the same thing as you did with the fans. Except the saws will swing twice instead of repeatedly. Once the saws swing together a second time, you can turbo through. That's really all you can do for this type of obstacle. Then there will be flame spouts (as I call them), and they are pretty simple to avoid no probem. There will be a Health pickup halfway through, so grab that. Afterwards, it'll go into the most deadly part: swinging spike balls. There's a trick to get through them. When you go through the first one, wait for the second one to swing, and then thrust your controller forward to Turbo Dash past all of them. If you happen to get hit by any of them, you will take an insane amount of damage, and you don't want that. You will pick up a Turbo refill before the second set of swinging spike balls. The trick is the same as the first set. The next set of obstacles will be the falling axes. These look like they are deadly, but they aren't hard to get by. Once the axe starts lifting up, turbo through. Then the second to last set of obstacles are the fans again. You know how to get through them. And now for the final obstacle. You DO NOT want to get hit by this! You will instantly die if you do. Learn the pattern it's doing. It does three punches, and then stops. Once it does it's 1 2 3, BOOST THROUGH IT! And the final part of this battle will begin. You're in the Talon, and you're facing against flying Sweet Minions as well. There's this giant Sweet Tooth head that you have to destroy. You can shoot weapons at it to deal normal damage, but that is not the best way to destroy it. From where you start, turn left and jet down to where the Mega Guns are. Now you have to take out a Sweet Minion. Hide behind the rock spire (rock tower, in simpler terms) and shoot your Mega Guns at a Sweet Minion. Once it's health has been depleted, it will fall to the ground. You need to pick it up by using your Alt-Special. To use your Alt-Special, select your Special and press Triangle. Then fly downwards and find the Sweet Minion that you took out. Once you spot it with a pink bomb icon, pick it up by flying towards and above it. Once it's being carried, fly up high and above the giant Sweet Tooth head. You need to drop the Sweet Minion into the head by releasing it. Pressing down and Traingle simultaneously will release the Sweet Minion. This will cause very major damage to the giant Sweet Tooth head. You need to do this about 4-5 times, but there are issues that you will come to: First, the Sweet Minions CAN freeze you, even when you have a Sweet Minion being carried by your magnet. This can be annoying as it can complicate things a bit and can make this part go on longer. So shield when you carry them upwards to stop them. Second, the Sweet Minions can throw their heads and fly head on into you, and you'll recieve some damage. It is irritating, as it can make you miss with your Mega Gun Bullets. Shield against those attacks as well. Third, shooting the giant Sweet Tooth head with normal weapons deals teeny tiny damage, but it will take a bit when it's hit by a Power Missile. Though, you can shoot it with a few Power Missiles to decrease the needs of dropping the Sweet Minions to four times instead of five. Fourth, Talon has a very low armor and is one of the weakest vehicles in the game, but it doesn't mean it's THE weakest, save for Reaper. You will take a lot of damage, and your Health decreases fast. And lastly, upon dropping the Sweet Minion, it will miss half of the time. As long as you release it at the very top of the giant Sweet Tooth head at the right time, or if you get lucky, you will be able to prove that this boss is nothing to you. You never want to go near the giant Sweet Tooth head, as it will push you away, and you will suffer some damage. It's never a good idea to do this. I hope you practiced on this boss a lot. If you go over 14 minutes, I advise restarting. It's a bit of a pain to beat this part, but you'll get it. And please don't bother quitting, as it is for quitters. This IS the final event, after all. If you are in need of Health, there isn't that many pickups. There's one that is not obtainable because for some reason, it's blocked by a net when you fly downwards. It's always good to have Health. With all of this in mind, you will get through this fast. If you manage to get Gold in this event, congratulations! You have beaten the Story on Twisted difficulty and got a Gold Medal on every event and unlocked... Warthog Speed - 2 Armor - 4 Specs. - 3 In my personal experience, it's a decent vehicle. I find him worth unlocking for me because, well... I like to unlock stuff in games and try to 100% them. Just something that I find worthy for games. His design is nearly identical to his appearance in TM: Black, as far as I've read. He also has the second highest health in the game, behind Juggernaut. Laser Pistol You can hold down the L2 button to charge up the shot and can release to fire it. You can also press it repeatedly to shoot constantly. After all of that hard work, you finally did it. You've beaten the Story on Twisted difficulty and got all Gold Medals. You can now rest easy. But if it isn't, then I will most likely not make one. Q: Do you think Warthog is good? A: Warthog is my favorite character in the TM series. In TMs 1-4, Small Brawl, and Head-On/Lost, he was just unlikeable for me. But when I seen his design in TM Black, I thought it was a damn piece of heaven: a station wagon with tank treads. I loved it. Q: But Warthog isn't a good vehicle to use! A: For me, he is. I like ground control, and sometimes his Crush. Q: Can I use this guide for other websites? A: As long as you credit me, yes you can. But you cannot alter, fix, add, or delete anything, however. Just keep it the way it is when posting it. Q: Did you graduate from high school? A: Dumb question, as it's off topic. I'm 20, in case you don't know. Most likely a possibility. Q: Why do you say some incorrect stuff in this guide? A: I was in a slight hurry to get this guide done, so I may fix that when I choose to. That sums up this section. I know a lot of people have been wanting a lot more from you ever since TM Black, and it's really awesome!
