When Earth is released all at once, it will form a pyramid shape that will slowly settle. Water: Puts out Fires, brings life to Vegetaion in the Desert, can turn Lava into Earth. Water can also be used to "Surf" a Villager downhill faster than he would walk. When Water is released all at once, it creates a small tidal wave that can destroy Villages. Water flows downhill until it reaches a basin or the sea. Water Source: Constantly produces a steady flow of Water. Easily Identified by the bright-white dot emanating at its source. Can be sealed by covering with Lava or Earth. I usually recommend [RSRCS] using Earth to close them as Lava would permanently seal the Water Source. Lava: Sets fire to Vegetation, Burns Villagers to Death, Can be used to create walls and bridges. When Lava is released all at once it forms a small mountain with a crater in the middle of it. Releasing all of the Lava not recommended for building bridges. Lava Source: A small opening from which Lava spews forth. Sometimes they can be sealed with Lava, other times they will need to be diverted away from Settlements with careful placement of Lava. Most often found at the mouths of Volcanos. Fire Trees: Spontaneously combust at set intervals; setting fire to Vegetation and activating Water Trees. Can be used to ignite Exploding trees by touch. Can be moved once you have learned how in-game. Creates a small patch of Earth when it is placed. Fire Trees usually have an active cycle of about 5 seconds, followed by a dormant cycle of about 50 seconds. Water Trees: Slowly fill with Water until they are at full capacity (Will be large and shake slightly). They will release all of their contained Water when exposed to Fire or Lava or a strong rushing current. Will also burst if fully submerged in Water. Creates a small patch of Earth when it is placed. Exploding Trees: Create small craters whenever Fire or Lava comes in contact with them. Once used, will eventually grow to a reusable state. Does not grow if fully submerged in Water or Lava. Creates a small patch of Earth when it is placed. Uncrossable Vegetation: Prevents movement of Villagers and is often an indication of underlying Water Sources. Can be removed by using the Absorb Matter button. ~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~ (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) ~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~ Powers Powers are activated by pressing the corresponding direction on the D-Pad. Pressing the same button again will deactivate the Power, shortening the cooldown required before it can be used again. Powers may be combined for greater effect. [PWRS] Once you learn Amplify the Breath; it can be activated, used to draw a large amount of Matter into a sphere, then deactivated. The breath will still contain the same amount of matter even without the spell active. Jellify Water: Stops the movement of all Water (Tsunamis, Rain, Rivers), and allows you to remove water blocking the movement of Villagers. While it is slightly difficult to do, Jellified Water may be used as a platform for Villagers to walk on. Evaporate: Lowers the Water level throughout the entire Territory. Is an effective counter to rain. Put out Fire: Defeats any fires burning Vegetation or Villages and prevents any fires from occuring. Amplify the Breath: Increases the size of the Breath. This allows the player to absorb Matter faster, and absorb more matter. Amplify the Breath improves the Powers of; Jellify Water, Engulf All, and Infinite Earth. Engulf All: Causes the Breath to be able to absorb matter (completely removing it from the map). Works on Water, Earth, and Lava. Especially effective at removing Water. Most effective when used with Amplify the Breath. Infinite Earth: Allows the Breath to release Earth for the duration of the Power. Most effective when used with Amplify the Breath. ~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~ (#) (#) (#) Levels (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) (#) ~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~ "And here we are, as on the first day... Level 5: The Thousand Sources There are tons of Water sources throughout the map. Be selective of where you draw Earth from or you might find yourself drowning villagers. Water sources may be covered with Earth to prevent them from producing Water. -Use Earth to create a bridge to the First Totem (Jellify Water). They actively burn for about 5 seconds, then cool-down period of around 50 seconds. To prevent Fire Trees from setting fire to your vegetation (and Villages), either place Water Trees next to them, or simply remove all of the Earth from around the Fire Tree. I prefer to transfer the Earth away from the Fire Tree so that no vegetation can grow close enough to be consumed by the flame. By moving the Earth there is no need to deal with the rushing Water that spews forth from Water Trees. -Perform the Ritual of the Village on the First Totem (Put out Fire, D-Pad Left). Your Villagers will call for help, but there is enough time for them to make it across when the water recedes. -Move the 3x Fire Trees where they won't be able to cause trouble (I prefer to drop them at the edge of the map in deep water). -Acquire the "Repel Water" Stone. [LVL8] -Knowledge will be passed back to the First Village. While the messenger doesen't need help, you can use "Jellify Water" to give him plenty of time to reach the Village. -Move the First Village (D-Pad Down) to the hill overlooking the "Engulf All" Totem. -Use Earth to even out the terrain if the Villagers are having trouble. -When the tide recedes, move the Second Village (D-Pad Up) as close to the "Infinite Earth" Totem as possible, while staying on the high ground. -When the tide recedes, remove the water surrounding the "Engulf All" Totem and activate "Jellify Water" to give your Villagers plenty of time to perform the Ritual of the Village and pass on the Knowledge of "Repel Water". -As soon as the sea is calm (water will stop flowing in towards the "Infinite Earth" Totem), use "Engulf All" with "Amplify the Breath" centered on the "Infinite Earth" Totem to get rid of large amounts of Water. Try to use all 60 seconds of "Engulf All". -Use "Amplify Breath" to remove the remaining Water from around the "Infinite Earth" Totem. -Activate "Jellify Water" to stop the flow of Water. -Perform the Ritual of the Village. -Use "Engulf All" to absorb any water that threatens the messenger carrying the Knowledge of "Repel Water". -Use "Infinite Earth" and "Amplify the Breath" together to create a bridge from the "Jellify Water" Village to the Portal. -Move to the Portal. ~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~ ~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~ "The Ancients once settled on this shore of fire. Since then, the volcano has had it's way with the land, but one can still manipulate what cannot be mastered." Level 9: The Tears of Stone There are 2 main Volcanos in this level. One is always active (the one on the left side of the map, isolating the "Amplify the Breath" Totem. The second switches between active and inactive with the additional hassle of having multiple vents from which Lava will flow. Try to time your movements during the "Inactive Phase" of the second Volcano. If you are waiting for the Lava to stop flowing, and have nothing else to do, busy yourself with Terraforming the map and clearing Earth in proximity with Lava to minimize Fires. Pay special attention to the "Put out Fires" Totem. The path to it can be difficult for your Villagers. You can always use Exploding Plants or Earth to make a much more even walkway for the eventual Villagers who will travel to the Totem. Once you acquire all 4 of the Totems, it will start raining, new Water Sources will activate, and Lava will cease flowing. If one of the Four Villages is destroyed, the rains will stop and the Lava will resume it's destructive paths. -Perform the Ritual of the Village on the First Totem (D-Pad Down, Amplify the Breath). -Use Lava to create a wall diverting all of the flowing Lava left and away from the Stone of "Repel Fire and Lava". [LVL9] -When the First Village is completed, move to the "Repel Fire and Lava" Stone. -Use Lava to completely block the Water Source at the top of the map, it should only take one glob of Lava (you will need your Earth later). By block I mean completely cover the source so that it stops producing Water. Any Fires that break out will have to be battled using water at the very bottom of the map. -Use Lava to ignite the Exploding plants around the Water Source to drain most of the Water out of the basin containing the "Engulf All" Totem. -Perform the Ritual of the Village on the Second Totem (D-Pad Up, "Jellify Water"). -Move all Water Plants and Exploding Plants out of the way. I like to place them on the far left side of the map, on the even ledge where there is a layer of Earth, but no way for Fire or Villagers to access it. -Capture the Stone of "Repel Water". -Pass the Knowledge of "Repel Water" to both Villages ("Amplify the Breath", and "Jellify Water"). -Move the "Jellify Water" Totem up towards the "Engulf All" Totem. It should be moved to a place where Lava wouldn't even flow towards it, even though it will have the Knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava". -Clear all of the Water from the area around the "Engulf All" Totem. -Clear any Earth not needed as a path to minimize the risk of Fires. -Perform the Ritual of the Village on the "Engulf All" Totem. -Pass the Knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava" and "Repel Water". to the "Engulf All" Village. -Move the "Amplify the Breath" Totem up and around the always-active Lava flow and on high ground. -Move Villagers to the Totem of "Put out Fire". -Use the Villager's pathing to determine where Earth needs to be added to get the Villagers to the Totem. -Clear all Earth not being used as a path for the Villagers so there is less chance of Fires. -Perform the Ritual of the Village. -Activate "Jellify Water" as soon as the Fourth Village is created. -Move to the Portal. ~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~ ~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~ "Here the earth split apart, and the two halves live separately. The Ancients planted their totems on each half. Are we to understand that neither half is superior?" Level 10: The Raging Earth This is where the game starts getting really challenging. Due to the chaotic nature of this map, you will constantly battle flowing Lava, Fires, and Floods. Instead of a linear guide, I will dispense advice and objective order, and leave it up to you to decide the best way to proceed. Close to the "Repel Water" Stone, there are 9+ Exploding Plants. THESE ARE VERY IMPORTANT!!! While I outline where to use these bombs, it is up to your discretion as to when to place them. Use a small amount of Lava to detonate the Plants if they aren't placed near a heat source. [LVL10] -Use 2x on each of the Large-Open-Mouthed-Volcanoes (4x total), to draw the Lava off of the map (away from any Totems). Use 1x on the lip of the Volcano's mouth, and another just below the first Exploding plant and slightly to the side. -Use Lava to block the normal flow path by creating a "Half-Circle" shape opposite of the craters which were created by the Exploding Plants. -Use 2x on the other side of the pool of water close to the "Amplify the Breath" Totem to make a deep hole to slow the progress of the Lava that will fill the basin. -use 3x to divert the flowing Water off of the map. -Set them as close to the mouth of the river as you can close to where the Water spews forth from the crater. Look for some small recesses that look like an Exploding Plant has already been used. -Use "Amplify the Breath" to deposit huge globs of Lava to divert the water off of the map through the path created by the Exploding Plants. -If you divert the Water, create a large enough wall where the Water tends to spill over, and move all of the Water Trees away from any Village, there is really no need to get the "Repel Water" Stone. -Use the remaining Exploding Plants as you see fit. I like use them to divert the flowing Lava away from the "Engulf All" Totem. -Ignore the "Engulf All" Totem at the start. Instead move to the "Amplify the Breath" Totem and Perform the Ritual of the Village. -While the Village is being built, use Lava to make a temporary barrier between the flowing Lava and the Village. -Use the nearby Water supply to fight Fires. Holding down the "Right Trigger" seems to work better than dumping all of the water, as dumping all of the water can have a tendency to wipe out your Village. -Use "Amplify the Breath" to grab large amounts of Lava to divert the Water flow away from the "Repel Fire and Lava" Stone. Focus first upon the small flows escaping over the lip of the crater before moving downstream. -Move Villagers to the Second Totem (Jellify Watter, D-Pad Up), and the "Repel Fire and Lava" Stone at the same time. -Pay special attention to the Water at the top of the map, as the water level will rise, threatening your Second Village. Focus on diverting the Water flow before you move on to the Third Totem ("Engulf All"). -Build walls of Lava to direct the Lava flow down and away from the "Engulf All" Totem. Once the Village is built and the Knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava" is learned, this Village should survive on it's own. -If the Water flow at the top of the map has been completly diverted, and all 3 of your towns have the Knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava", it is time to move the First Village (Amplify the Breath, D-Pad Down) as close to the final Totem as possible, on the side of the Volcano. -Pay attention to the secondary Lava outlets. Some can be sealed with Lava, others will have active and inactive phases. The goal is to move the village when there is the least Lava flow. -If you placed the Exploding Plants well, and used Lava to divert the flow of Lava from the huge volcanoes, you shouldn't have to worry about them threatening your move. -Use "Amplify the Breath" along with "Engulf All" to remove large amounts of Lava that threaten your Villagers. -Once the Fourth Village has been built, the close proximity of the First Village will make it easy to share the Knowledge of "Repel Lava and Fire". -If you have diverted the flowing Water, and all 4 of your Villages possess the knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava" then the map will no longer be challenging. This is the perfect time to go for the story artifact and spread Vegetation over the majority of the map. -Don't worry about Vegetation Fires, your Villages will be protected. -Use "Infinite Earth" and "Amplify the Breath" to raise the Portal above the Water and make a bridge to it. -Move to the Portal. ~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~ ~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~ "There is no earth: have we reached the end of our journey? But no, a passage opens up before us. There! A cataclysm has taken place, but rebirth is always possible." Level 11: Emergence Emergence will test your ability to create usable terrain with Lava and Earth. Every Totem is situated on a small piece of land which may be partially or completely submerged in Water. To make matters worse, each island will need to be connected with a usable path. Use the zoomed-in-top-down view (press "Right Bumper" to zoom in, then flick the right movement stick "Up" to show an overhead view). This makes it easy to do precision placment of Lava or Earth as you create effective terrain. Use Lava as the foundation for the paths between the islands as well as increasing the size of the land the Totems rest on. If only Earth is used, Tsunamis will carry away much of the Earth, causing you to spend huge chunks of time repairing instead of progressing. If you aren't careful, the Earth that the first Volcano is producing will be lost as Lava flows over it. Try to take the Earth from the center of the Volcano first, then Earth from the side not facing the Totems, and finally the Earth facing the Totems if you are desperate. -When the map starts, uproot the Exploding Plant, and carry it to the volcano. Place the plant on the side of the Volcano away from the Totems. This will give you more time to landscape before the Volcano interferes. There are several more Exploding Plants on a small area of land that can be used to control the Volcano even more if the Lava flow gets out of control. [LVL11] -Grab a sphere of Lava and use it to make repairs to the narrow pathway leading to the First Totem (Amplify the Breath). -Use the Earth that is forming around the Volcano to cover the small piece of land where the First Totem (Amplify the Breath) is. Try to grab Earth from the side of the volcano not facing the Totems. -Once there is enough Earth around the First Totem to build a Village, issue the command to send the Villagers to the Totem, and start using Earth to supplement the foundation you already made with Lava which leads to the Totem. -During the first part of the map, the First Volcano will be constantly producing Earth. Grabbing as much of this Earth as possible before the Lava turns it to stone will make the remainder of the level much easier. -Once the First Village is built, a message will reveal that there is an approaching Tsunami. Use "Amplify the Breath" to grab a huge sphere of Lava. Slowly release the Lava over the "Repel Water" Stone to raise it above Water. -Send a Villager to the Stone even though the path will be inaccessable. Use Lava first as a foundation for the path to the stone, with Earth covering the Lava to make it easier for a person to traverse it. -With safe passage ensured to the "Repel Water" Stone, focus on building the Second Village at the "Jellify Water" Totem. First, cover the terrain with Earth so you can send the Villagers to it, then work on creating a safe path with Lava and Earth. -Use "Jellify Water" to stop the approaching Tsunami if you see that it will defeat the messenger bringing the "Repel Water" knowledge. -Use Lava to raise the terrain around the "Repel Lava and Fire" and make a path to it being careful not to set fire to the Vegetation around your Second Village. Once both Villages are protected from Lava and Fire, the only challenge left is reaching the final Totem (Infinite Earth). -Cover the area around the "Infinite Earth" Totem with Lava and Earth. Send the Villagers to the Totem before working on making a stable path to it. -Use Lava as a foundation, with Earth as a top layer for the paths, using the red-path-lines from the Villagers as guides as to which parts of the terrain need improvement. -Once the Ritual of the Village is performed, use "Infinite Earth" and "Amplify the Breath" to make a short path from the Third Village to the First Village. This will allow the Knowledge of "Repel Water" to easily reach the Third Village. -Use "Infinite Earth" and "Amplify the Breath" to raise the terrain around the Portal and make a path to it. -Move to the Portal. ~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~ ~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~ "All the cycles at work converge on us; it lies within us to cultivate them." Level 12: Movements Movements is the most challenging map due in part to the presence of Lava, rainstorms, cramped space, and the lack of a "Repel Water" Stone. The only consolations are a readily available "Repel Lava and Fire" Stone, the distant "Evaporate", and "Infinite Earth". Ultimately, once you acquire "Evaporate" and that Totem is protected with the Knowledge of Repel Fire, the difficulty is over. Getting to that point is the largest challenge which will require expert redirection of the flowing Lava and quick movement to reach the Totem before the rains flood all of the territory. The threat of Fire comes from the Large active Volcano in the center of the map as well as from several other openings that will reveal themselves several minutes into the map. Consequently, because the Volcano also contains the highest elevation, it is an excellent spot to position your First Village once it knows the Knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava." Water comes in two forms on this map. The first as a steady rain that threatens to fill the entire map, the second being the Water Plants which will only aggravate the already apparent problems of flooding. -Perform the Ritual of the Village on the First Village (D-Pad Down, "Amplify the Breath"). [LVL12] -While the Ritual is being performed, move the 10 Water Plants away from your Village (I place them on the outer edge/rim of the territory. If these burst they will flood your Village. There are 5 more Water Plants on the other side of the map that we can deal with later. -Divert the Lava away from the Stone of "Repel Fire and Lava". Do this using a combination of Exploding Plants and large spheres of Lava via "Amplify the Breath". Place Lava first around the rim before moving downhill. -Don't worry about the Lava flowing towards the "Evaporate" Totem, just make sure there is no Lava heading towards the First Villlage and the "Repel Fire and Lava" Stone. -It will likely rain once before you reach the "Repel Fire and Lava" Stone. Use Lava to first raise the the stone above the water level, send a Villager to the stone, then use lava to build a crude bridge. -There is also a small amount of Earth on the far side of the Territory against the outer rim that can be used to form a path to the "Repel Fire and Lava" Stone. Earth tends to be easier to use to make stable paths. -Once the First Village has the Knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava", move the village up on the higher ground close to the mouth of the Volcano. If you were to draw a line from the mouth of the Volcano to the "Jellify Water" Totem, you would place the First Village as far up on the Volcano as possible, but potentially blocking any Lava that would flow towards the "Jellify Water" Totem. -This will place the First Village close to the Exploding Plants. Be sure to use the Exploding plants on the side of the volcano where there is no Totems. -While the First Village is moving, uproot the 5 remaining Water Plants and place them on the outer rim of the territory. -Use "Amplify the Breath" and large spheres of Lava to divert the flowing Lava away from the "Evaporate" Totem. First stay close to the mouth of the Volcano and drop all of the Lava using "Left Trigger + Right Trigger" so you can make the most of your time limit on each "Amplify the Breath" -Once the Lava is diverted away from the "Evaporate" Totem, Perform the Ritual of the Village (you may need to gather up small amounts of Lava in the vicinity of the Totem). -Use "Evaporate" as soon as you are able to. Deactivate it once all of the Water is removed from the map. -There is usually not enough time to perform another Ritual of the Village, and pass along the Knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava". Wait patiently for the entire Volcano to become active. -When the entire Volcano becomes active, the next big phase begins. Use Lava to make "Half-Circles" around the mouths of each Lava spout. The goal is to redirect the Lava off of the map. Some spots will only need a few full Breaths of Lava to accomplish this. Others will take a considerable amount of time to build. -Use "Evaporate" any time it starts raining. -The Villages will be protected from the Lava by the Knowledge of "Repel Fire and Lava". The only thing that can destroy them now is flooding. -When all of the Lava sources are diverted, perform the Ritual of the Village on the "Infinite Earth" Totem. -Use "Infinite Earth" and "Amplify the Breath" to cover the terratory with Earth and raise the Villages above a level where flooding waters would threaten them if you choose. -Perform the Ritual of the Village on the "Jellify Water" Totem. -Move to the Portal. ~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~/#\~ ~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~\#/~ "And here we are, as on the first day! Here where it all began. But where is the land of the Ancients? Without it, we cannot long survive. Ah! The Ancients have left us their powers. It is up to us to create the land we lack." Level 13: Origins Origins is a true sandbox level. With the power to command all of the elements, there is no danger that cannot be circumvented through careful planning and simple button presses. The only challenge lies at the very last moment once you have placed a portal to complete the game. At this point, all of the terrain begins sinking into nothingness. If you build high enough, and place the Portal close to one of your Villages, the challenge is negligible. Use all of the available powers to be able to place the next Totem. Once all of the powers have been used, you will be able to place the Portal.
