The aim of this guide is to identify every trophy in the game and help you to earn that precious platinum and get 100% showing for this great game. I decided to write this guide, my first by the way, as I got really frustrated with every FAQ and Walkthrough I could find giving the trophies in alphabetical order or grouping them into bronze, silver and gold. I found this made figuring out what the ??? trophies were difficult and there wasn't a trophy guide up on GameFAQs already. So I hope this is helpful, please enjoy. NOTE: I have written this after playing the PS3 version of the game, as I understand it the Achievements on the 360 are essentially the same apart from the Concodrance Officer Trophy which, being a Platinum, is a PS3 exculsive. I don't know anything about the PC version and am not familiar with the 360 controls but I'm sure any 360 users can easily adapt the information here for their use. == Quick Version History == V0.5 - Finished basic guide. Just get through the game, you'll get this as you get the Exodus trophy. [DST 02.15] Brute Force Bronze Kill a Brute. You'll receive this in chapter 4 when you kill the Brute that attacks you when you return to the main Atrium after meeting Hammond. Brutes look big and scary but they aren't THAT bad. Find yourself a nice open bit of the room, shouldn't be too hard in the Atrium, but the other three or four Brutes you encounter aren't always as easy. Once he charges at you blast him with stasis and quicky run behind him and start shooting at the yellow patches with black spots on this back side. Hammond will tell you about this as you're fighting but you know what to do right? The Brute will turn quickly and even in stasis if you take to long or or take to larger circle to get around him he can actually turn enough to prevent you lining up for the shots you need. Once you make it behing him aim for the back of his legs first, this will make him a lot less mobile, allowing you to lay into the rest of him. Once he falls down he shouldn't be too much trouble but keep your distance in case he swings at you and re-stasis him if you feel the need. If you encounter a Brute with no stasis availible to you retreat from him and aim at his shoulders, the gap between his chin and the edges of his shoulders ie. the neck and inner shoulders and vunerable so try blasting him there. After a few shots it will stun him and cause him to fall down allowing you to circle around and attack his vunerable areas. One last thing don't back too far away from a Brute or he will fire acid pods at you and they aren't the easiest things to catch or dodge. He is certain to shoot them if he's injured and fallen over. [DST 02.16] Exterminator Bronze Kill the Leviathan You'll earn this towards the end of chapter 6 when you kill the Leviathan boss in Food Storage after using the poison. The Leviathan, like all three bosses in this game is huge. It looks really intimidating but is actually nice and simple once you get the hang of it. The fight takes place in zero gravity so you can move freely anywhere in the room, which usefully is round so you can run just about anywhere. I found the best way to deal with this battle is just to run constantly left or right for the duration of the fight. The Leviathan has three tenticles around a central mouth and to start with all he will do is thrash them around a bit. Soon enough he will stretch one of them out and you will see in the middle of it is a yellow pustule, an obvious weak spot. The extended tenticle will point upwards (from his perspective), quiver and then slam down towards Isaac but if you are still running to the side it will miss. Once it has attacked he will pull the tenticle back towards the body but the pustule will get stuck on the outside giving you the perfect chance to attack so incase you haven't guessed shoot the pustule. This will normally repeat with all three tenticles, especially on the opening attack round. Once all three tenticles have been shot off the Leviathan will open its mouth and shoot out five acid pods. You can dodge these by continuing running but the best method is to aim directly into its mouth and when it fires a pod wait until it is close kenesis grab it. Once you have it wait until you hear him shoot another pod (normally about 1 - 1.5 seconds) then fire the pod you're holding back (it's the primary fire button) and this will destroy the one heading for you. Repeat this for the third and fourth pod and then when the fifth pod comes your way catch it and throw it straight back, this will fly straight into the Leviathans mouth and hurt it. Alternatively if you are having trouble catching the pods and firing them back you can dodge them all and quickly fire into its mouth but I found this stratgey harder than the above method. Also if you use the catching method you will receive the Playing Catch trophy [02.26]. Once you have hurled the fifth pod back and the Leviathan has finished roaring the tenticles will regrow and the first phase of the fight will begin again. The main difference this time is that he may not wait until you shoot off all three tenticles, I normally get him firing pods with one tenticle left, which makes things a little more awkward as the tenticle will not attack whilst the pods are coming at you but it will flail around meaning you trying to line up for the pod & dodging, but it should fire more pods once you remove the rest of the tenticles so just go with it and if you get another hit in brilliant. Just keep repeating these strategies, it shouldn't take long, and hey you could get two trophies out of him. [DST 02.17] Get Off My Ship! Bronze Kill the slug boss. You'll receive this trophy when you defeat the Slug with the ADS cannon in chapter 8 after you restore the comms array. Yes you read it right you have to use the ADS cannon from that horrendous asteroid defence section in chapter 4, but don't worry too much this boss fight isn't quite as hard at the defence section. Basically you get into the cannon chair exactly as before and when the shutter opens you will see the Slug outside. He isn't looking at you at the moment but sadly we've got to deal with him so get your sights lined up centrally and slightly above the centre and give him a shot to get his attention. Now don't be to worried about those five big tenticles or that intimidating body as he doesn't attack you directly. Once he has reared his tenticles up he will wave them around a lot but it's only when he bends one over that you need to try to react to it. If a tenticle bends over it means that he is preparing to attack and he does this by picking up debris and general brick-a-brack from the ships exterior. Now having all five tenticles moving at once can get pretty hectic but I think that defence should be the priority in this battle. If he bends a tenticle down to grab debris if you have the chance to blast it try and take it. Now were to blast it and how to hurt the Slug? You should be able to see it straight away. Like all other tenticles in the game each of them have a pustule half way down and these are your targets. Shooting these enough will cause them to break off and hurt the boss and getting a shot or two in on them will stop them picking up and sometimes throwing the debris if you couldn't prevent the pick up. Now the reason I told you to aim slightly above the centre of the the sreen is you should now be very close to the centre tenticles pustule. Now quickly before the Slug gets his act together and begins attacking you blast away at the central pustule. If you're lucky you should be able to blast it off or at least damage it heavily before the battle really gets started. Once we're underway I always prefer to play defensively, try to shoot down any incoming objects and if you manage it prevent the tenticles picking items up in the first place. With that in mind you should finish off the centre tenticle if you haven't already and after that pick a side, left or right, and concentrate your efforts those two tenticles. If you can, try to keep an eye out for incoming debris but focus your efforts on destroying the tenticles on your chosen side and you'll find that tackling the final two tenticles easy. Once you blow off that last tenticle the Slug will die and drift off into space. If you manage to kill the Slug with more than 50% of the hull integrity remaining you can also earn the Slugger Trophy [02.38]. [DST 02.18] Mindless Prey Bronze Kill the Hive Mind. Here it is the big bad of the game, the humongous mother of all Necromorphs the Hive Mind. Now this thing is enormous but doesn't have a huge varity of attacks but the ones it does have can be nasty. You'll notice straight away it has a ring of pustules around its mouth and a further set protected in its rib cage. All it has for offence is two tenticles sticking up in front of it but these can become a problem when she starts slamming these down at Isaac. They can come in fast and in rapid succession, this wouldn't be too bad but there does seem to be a slight random element to attacks. There is also one other thing with these tenticles, they have no pustules half way down, meaning you can't get rid of them. When the tenticle that is about to attack will rise and quiver like the Leviathans and then it will smash down, however it does not lock on to Isaac's location until just before the attack rather than as it starts quivering as the Leviathan did. What you need to do is stand all the way to one side and watch for the quiver, then run to the other side of the arena and you should be able to dodge it, however in my experience it's never 100% certain. To attack the Hive Mind simply shoot at the pustules around her mouth, this seems simple whilst dodging the fairly serene tenticle attacks however it does get more complicated. When you only have a few left try to start damaging all of the remaining pustules at once, preferable leaving a pair together (I normally leave the bottom right pair) as when there are only two left the Hive Mind will grab you and hold you upside down. Now you need to shoot the last two pustules upside down with what feels like inversed controls, this can be a real bugger to do and every 10 seconds or so the Hive Mind will pull you closer you get four of these and on the fifth move she will eat you. If you manage to take out all the pustules around her mouth and once she stops screaming the Hive Mind will lean forward and roar, opening her ribs and revealing the last five pustules. At this point she normally sends out a pair of Pregnants to attack Isaac, but I don't think she spawns them on easy mode. Deal with the Pregnants in the usual way and prepair to dodge the tenticle attacks again. The only difference this time is that the tenticles will attack in pairs and sometimes twice, so that may be four tenticle attacks in a row, just look for the quiver and keep moving side to side. Keep attacking the chest pustules and she will just keep roaring, attacking with the tenticles and maybe send out another pair of Pregnants, but if you keep blasting her consistantly you probably won't have to deal with them. The only other thing to note about this fight is if you leave a long enough gap between successful hits the Hive Mind might throw a couple of Pregnants onto the battlefield. These are nothing abnormal so just deal with them in the usual way. Once you've taken care of the last pustule the Hive Mind will keel over, just make sure you're not too close to the front of the area as she will fall onto the platform when she dies and it can be bad if she lands on you. Once shes gone just run onto the ramp of the shuttle and you should get the trophy. Be aware you may get the Exodus [02.12] trophy first, I think it depends on how fast you board the shuttle. [DST 02.19] Pack Rat Bronze Store 25 items in the safe. Simply put 25 items in the safe from your inventory in the store. Pick up everything, it doesn't matter if you can't use it just take it to the Store and stash it to get this quickly or even just playing without a concious effort for this trophy you will still get it fairly quickly. [DST 02.20] Story Teller Bronze Collect 75 Logs. Keep an eye out for anything lying around as you progress through the game, logs are normally purple in colour but you should get this without much trouble. A large quantity of logs given to you as communications so this should take a sizable chunk off the number you need to find. Here is a list of the first 75 logs listed in the quickest order you can pick them up: 17 Compulsory Training Logs. "Movement" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Action Button" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Objectives" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Weapons & Melee" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Health" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Map" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Dismemberment" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Stasis Module" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Upgrade Bench" Trainging Log in Chapter 1 "Store" Training Log in Chapter 1 "Kinesis" Training Log in Chapter 2 "Schematics" Training Log in Chapter 2 "Secondary Fire" Training Log in Chapter 2 "Kinesis Symbol" Training Log in Chapter 2 "Air Timer" Training Log in Chapter 2 "Zero-G Movement" Training Log in Chapter 2 "Weapon Select" Training Log received when you buy a second weapon 13 Compulsory Logs in Chapter 1. NOTE: There is one log that's easy to miss in this Chapter purely because it is time based. To get this log you need to replace the Tram car and kill everything in the room, then you are suposed to go to the Maintenance Bay but if you get there too quickly then the log will not play. So I think the best thing to do would be to wait in the Tram Repair Room until the log plays, it takes about 4 minutes, just be paitent, stomp some Necromorphs whatever takes your fance. I say wait here because I don't know where the cut off point is and I've missed this log on several play throughs because I was too fast. Anyway if you hang around long enough you will receive: 1 "Find The Data Board" Audio Log Chapter total = 35 Overall Total = 35 8 Compulsory Logs in Chapter 2 "Destroy The Barricade" Video Log "Found The Thermite" Audio Log "Ship Gravity" Audio Log "Found The Shock Pad" Audio Log "Barricade Destroyed" Audio Log "We'll Find Her" Audio Log "Codes Received" Audio Log "Engine Problems" Video Log 1 "Kyne and the Captain" Video Log found in the room directly in front of you as you get off the lift in the Main Lab in Chapter 2. 1 "Marker Overview" Text File found hidden behind the bookshelf (move it with kenesis) in the room you found the "Kyne and the Captain" Log in Chapter 2. 1 "Mercer's Journal" Audio Log found in the left side of the Toilets at the back of the Main Lab in Chapter 2. 1 "Interesting Results" Text File found on the floor to the left of the Bench in the Imaging Diagnostics Room in Chapter 2. 1 "Mercer and Kyne" Audio Log found in the room adjoining the Imaging Diagnostics room, you will need a power node to open the door, in Chapter 2. 1 "Nicole's Report" Video Log found in the Clinic Hallway directly behind the barricaded door once you blast through, in Chapter 2. 1 "Eileen" Audio Log found in the ER Hallway near a bed to the left of the Intensive Care Unit door in Chapter 2. 1 "Newborns" Text Log found down the corridor to the right of the doors to the Intensive Care Unit in the ER Hallway by the Oxygen Recharger in Chapter 2. 1 "More Time" Text Log found in the Intensive Care Unit on the floor by the door to the Morgue in Chapter 2. 1 "Colonist Problems" Audio Log found by the doors to the Morgue Hallway in Chapter 2. 1 "Autopsy Report" Text Log found in the Morgue on the right side of the room near the side of the room the Captain smashed out of in Chapter 2. Chapter Total = 13 Overall Total = 67 11 Compulsory Logs in Chapter 4 "The Marker" Video Log "Asteroid Impact" Audio Log "Brute Combat" Audio Log "Report From Kendra" Audio Log "Reversed Gravity" Audio Log "Avoid The Asteroids" Audio Log "Hurry Up!" Audio Log "One More Minute" Audio Log "Almost Fixed" Audio Log "ADS Online" Audio Log "Atmosphere Contaminated" Video Log 1 "Initial Attack" Audio Log found near the consoles on the right of the Main Atrium near where the Asteroid smashes through in Chapter 4. 1 "List Of The Dead" Text Log found in the Captain's Nest where you meet Hammond the log is in the Captain's Chair in Chapter 4. 1 "Temple On The Bridge" Audio Log found when you take the front lift up to level 3 from the Main Atrium it is just to your right in Chapter 4. 1 "Report Of Infection" Text Log found in the Mining Administration Computer Room on the right side of the room from the lift in Chapter 4. 1 "Captain's Demise" Video Log found in the lift facing the door the Brute smashed out once you have restored power in the Main Atrium in Chapter 4. NOTE: When you leave Hammond and he fires the escape pod off into space, this communication is NOT a log so don't worry about it. NOTE: It is impossible to get every log in Chapter 4 in one play through as when you have to reroute power you are meant to get an Audio Log for each time you use a terminal to reroute power, however when the third one is used the Audio Log you are meant to leave doesn't play and you get the "Aim The ADS Cannon" Audio Log instead. This means that you will ALWAYS miss one log on each play through, now some people think this is a glitch but I reckon it's intentional on EA's part to encourage replay. Either way it's not important fact is it's how the game works so here is how I would handle it. Once you have turned the power back on the the Atrium lifts if you use your Locator (the little blue light in Isaac's left hand) it will show you to go up in the lift facing you, the one with the "Captain's Demise" log is, but instead go to the other lift and go to level 3. From here activate the terminal and you will get: 1 "Astrogation Module Placed" Audio Log From here return to the lift and go all the way down to level 1 and activate the terminal to receive: 1 "Control Module Placed" Audio Log Now return the the Main Atrium and take the lift you were directed to originally and go and use the terminal by the flailing cables (use stasis on them) and you will get 1 "Aim the ADS Cannon" Audio Log Now being the third terminal you get this log not the "System Module Placed" Audio Log, this rule applies to whichever order you do these terminals in meaning the third is always the "Aim the ADS Cannon" Audio Log. Now when you finish the game, save the cleared file and start a New Game+ (something I strongly recommend for some trophies) and when you get back to Chapter 4 follow the recommended path so you receive the: 1 "System Module Placed" Audio Log First instead of having it be the last one, leaving you with all the logs. This is not essential for any trophy but it is annoying if you don't know as following the game's recommended path will always miss the "Astrogation Module Placed" Audio Log. Chapter Total = 19 (+1 on second play through) Overall Total = 86 (87) If you have picked up even the majority of Logs you will get the trophy in this chapter. [DST 02.21] Legend Teller Silver Collect 150 Logs. Basically it's the same as Story Teller [DST 02.20] but you have to keep collecting until you get 150, it's not every log but it is the majority of them. NOTE: You will miss one log in Chapter 7 if you just play through as normal following the path laid out by the game. To get the last log you must get the Beacon and then go the the Asteroid in Processing and destroy all four Gravity Teathers but DO NOT plant the Beacon on the Asteroid. Don't even press X whilst you're standing on the Asteroid even to pick up items, if you really want the items kenesis them to you from the surrounding platform. If you do plant the Beacon just run into the rails that are moving over the inside of the Asteroid and mince yourself. Now with the Gravity Teathers destroyed head back up in the lift to the Mineral Processing Area and take the power block back out of the lift and return it to where you first found it. Now take this lift up and use the Mining Access Key to open the door to the Control Room, enter and try to launch the Asteroid. Once you do this Kendra will contact you and you will receive: 1 "Attach the Beacon" Audio Log Now feel free to go back down and plant the Beacon and then you have to come all the way back to launch the Asteroid. Simply buy every weapon from the shop. I believe you need to actually own them all at once, but just to be sure don't sell any until you get the trophy although I can't see why you would. You will require a New Game+ run to be able to achieve this one with my stratagey but it's not essential. [DST 02.23] Z-Baller Bronze Complete Level 6 in Zero-G Basketball. Play the Zero-G Basketball mini game in Chapter 10 and complete the first 6 levels of the game. Zero-G Basketball isn't difficult but it will take you a few tries to get through the later levels. Basically you just interact with the console just inside the door to start the game and you have to jump around and shoot the ball into one of the scoringn holes at the far end to score. You'll notice that the room has four rings of four platforms that look like the wooden floor of a basketball court in the first half of the room and at the far ends four coloured holes in the wall. Basically you have to Zero-G Jump between these platforms Kinesis grab the ball and shoot it into one of those holes. When the game starts one of the scoring holes will shoot out a ball and three platforms will light up. You need to try to get an idea where the ball goes whilst jumping to a lit up platform, at this point a timer will appear on Isaac's back (near where your air metre normally is), this is the time you have to get your multiplier up. Every time you land on a lit up platform your multiplier will increase, so the aim is to jump to the three lit up platforms then grab the ball and shoot it through a scoring hole. In the later stages the rules will change slightly but what you need to do remains the same. Things like the scoring holes covering and uncovering, or only having one open per shot or the lit platforms changing within a round shouldn't really effect you that much. As you start a round try and spot where the lit platforms are as you move between them, if you land on the second and can't see the third forget it and take the shot, getting a lightly lower multiplier is better than spending too long looking and getting none at all. If the timer runs out your multiplier resets to zero obviously, but even if you think you are going to loose the level, keep going after all practice makes perfect. You need to score 20 points to pass each level, but even if it does take a few tries you should manage this trophy fairly easily. [DST 02.24] Merchant Bronze Collect 8 schematics. Simply find 8 of the 16 schematics that are laying around the Ishimura and download them in the Store. There are 16 schematics in the game so here is a list of them all and their locations for you, although none of them are particularly well hidden and you would probably get this just playing through the game. 1 "Flamethrower Schematic" found in the corridor leading from the Tram Station after you Kinesis the creates out of your way in Chapter 2. 1 "Pulse Rounds Schematic" found in the Imaging Diagnostics Room in the unlocked room next to the lift in Chapter 2. 1 "Line Racks Schematic" found in the room you need a Power Node to open in the ER Hallway A in Chapter 2. 1 "Flame Fuel Schematic" found in the same place as "Temple Report 1" Audio Log go down the ramp in the room next to the playing dead Slasher in Chapter 3. 1 "Ripper Schematic" found in the Refueling Chamber after you cross the Gondola it's on the floor near the refueling switch in Chapter 3. 1 "Medium Med Pack Schematic" found in the Engine Hallway, just as you walk in from the outside section it's on the floor in Chapter 3. 1 "Ripper Blade Schematic" found in the room that needs a power node to access at the bottom of the 3 tiered room on the way to the Engine Room in Chapter 3. 1 "Level 3 Suit Schematic" found in the Main Atrium just outside the Captian's Nest in Chapter 4. 1 "Contact Beam Schematic" found in the Hallway to Ships Systems just past the Save Station in Chapter 4. 1 "Force Gun Schematic" found in the same room as "Temple On The Bridge" Audio Log when you take to lift up to level 3 from the Main Atrium in Chapter 4. 1 "Force Energy Schematic" found in the Chemical Lab on the desk in Chapter 5. 1 "Contact Energy Schematic" found in the Sapling Room at the top of the lift from the Tram Station in Chapter 6. 1 "Level 4 Suit Schematic" found in the Maintenance Storage Room that Nicole unlocks after you defend her in Chapter 7. 1 "Medium Air Can Schematic" found in the Comms Control Room on the floor at the left side of the room in Chapter 8. 1 "Large Med Pack Schematic" found in the Infirmary to the left of the robot arm, stasis it to get past the lasers and kinesis the Schematic towrds you in Chapter 9. 1 "Level 5 Suit Schematic" found in Zero-G Basketball Locker Room just before you enter the court in Chapter 10. [DST 02.25] Armstrong Bronze Shoot 50 objects using Kinesis. Simply pick up and shoot 50 items with Kinesis, just remember that's shoot using R1. You would probably get this through natural play but if you want it quickly find yourself somewhere safe with an item and just keep picking it up and shooting it at a wall, you should get the Trophy in about 5 minutes. [DST 02.26] Playing Catch Bronze Catch a Brute or Leviathan Pod using Kinesis. When a Brute or the Leviathan shoots an acid pod at you grab it with Kinesis and that should do it. If you follow my Leviathan strategy [DST 02.16] you should get this with easy. Either way I think the Leviathan is the easiest one to get this trophy from as it will deffinately fire pods and you are at a greater range so you have more time to react. The Hive Mind also shoots pods but they are very hard to grab and I don't think they count for the trophy, so stick with the Leviathan. [DST 02.27] Kickin It Bronze Escape from a Lurker's grab attack 10 times. Simply get close to a Lurker (the small things that have mutated from babies and sprout three tenticles from their backs) and allow it to jump on you. When it does it will stab you in the back repeatidly with its tenticles, just hammer X until Isaac tears it off and kicks it into pieces. Simply do this 10
times to get the trophy.
I would advise doing this on Easy mode in a New Game+ with a fully upgraded RIG
and Level 6 suit, it just makes it safer.
[DST 02.28]
Marksman
Bronze
Dismember 20 Limbs.
As it says remove 20 limbs however you see fit.
Just killing Necromorphs properly (ie. shooting off their limbs) will get you
this trophy.
[DST 02.29]
Surgeon
Bronze
Dismember 500 Limbs.
It implies that you keep shooting limbs off Necromorphs and you may get it by
the end of the game if you do. The better way however is to stomp the limbs
off of anything you kill and any corpses you come across and you should get
this around Chapter 5 - 6.
Seriously STOMP EVERYTHING, make sure every limb has been severed, also
remember different Necromorphs have different limbs. As a general rule
anything attached to the torso is a limb, including heads so get stomping.
[DST 02.30]
Butcher
Silver
Dismember 1000 Limbs.
Keep up the previous tactics and introduce some serious boot to anything that
doesn't move and you should get this around Chapter 10 - 11.
KEEP STOMPING!
[DST 02.31]
Freeze
Use Stasis on 50 Enemies.
Just zap 50 enemies with stasis before you kill them.
You probably won't use stasis on enemies much to start with but once you are
introduced to the Regenerator you'll probably start doing it more often. It
was the Dividers and especially the Stingers that I started using it on but if
you make a concious effort to use it, it shouldn't take much to earn.
[DST 02.32]
Crackshot
Bronze
Achieve a perfect score in the Shooting Gallery.
Fairly self explanitory just complete every level of the shooting gallery in
Chapter 9. To complete every level you must hit every red figure and no blue
ones, it is as simple as it sounds but it will probably take you a few tries
& don't worry you have unlimited ammo a la Resident Evil 4.
There isn't much help I can really offer with this one the patterns change
each time you start a level but they move slow enough for it to not matter too
much until the later levels. Try to stand Isaac just to the left of centre
and aim just to the left, almost at the left shoulder of the centre figure,
this should give you the visibility and range of movement you need to make this
a bit easier. As with Zero-G Basketball just keep trying and you'll get it
without too much trouble.
[DST 02.33]
Don't Get Cocky, Kid
Bronze
Survive the ADS Cannon with over 50% Shield strength remaining.
Complete the Asteroid defence section in Chapter 4 with the shield above 50%.
Ugh, this is the trophy I hate the most in this game, it took me loads of tries
just to survive this to start with. This and Epic 3 Tier Engineer [DST 02.13]
are th hardest trophies by a long stretch but at least that one is about
knowledge and skill and where as there is an element of skill in this one it
feels like you are at the mercy of the game too much. You will improve with
practice but there is a horrible random element that makes it almost unfair a
lot of the time.
This random element is the Asteroids themselves, the game throws them at you
totally at random, there is no pattern and no way to predict what is coming,
so that brings you down to being ready to deal with whatever is thrown at you.
One thing I would deffinatley recommend is make a new save file before you
start this so if you complete it but don't get the trophy you can move on with
the game and come back later.
So what is there and how to deal with it, I will try to offer you what tips I
can but it's largely down to just getting a feel for it and paitience as you
will fail a lot before you manage this.
1 Always shoot both cannons at once, this increases you blast area and eases
the need for pinpoint accuracy.
2 As soon as the shutter opens, start firing shots into the centre of the
screen and look for any flashes of light. This is an Asteroid flashing
with the light of your shot and it gives you a target to get a head start.
3 Keep an eye on the whole area as best you can, Asteroids can sneak up on you
and be on top of you before their obviously visible.
4 Get used to the different types of Asteroid, there are basically three, big,
small and small fast moving, then learn to prioritise.
5 Bigger Asteroids are a larger threat, when you shoot them they split into
three so as soon as you see one shoot rapidly at it to destroy it
completely as these do large damage when they hit.
6 Small fast moving Asteroids will normally appear as part of a group and you
probably realise if one is fast moving until it's over half way towards you,
just try to blast it quickly.
7 Try not to panic, it gets really hectic towards the end, if you panic you
will make mistakes, just do your best and if you fail just try again.
8 Asteroids coming in at the edges of the screen will do the least damage or
miss you totally but if you see stray Asteroids and you have a chance swing
the cannon round and take a pot shot, you'll be amazed how often you hit it.
9 This game last 2.30 mins, Hammond will speak to you four times during the
game, first when you get into the chair, next and the 1 minute mark, again
at the 1.30 mark and again at the 2 minute mark, use this to let yourself
know how long you have left.
10 NEVER look at the sheild display, if you hear message telling you the sheild
strength is below 50% then you know you've lost it but checking will break
your concentration.
Good luck and take your time and be persistent.
[DST 02.34]
Air Alert
Bronze
Zero-G Jump over 100 times.
As plain as it sounds, just jump from one surface to another in Zero-G 100
times.
You probably won't get this on a normal play through even if you play Zero-G
Basketball but you may. If you want to make sure of this find a safe Zero-G
area and just jump around until you earn it. I like the Zero-G areas in
Chapter 6 (Refrigeration East or West) as both have fairly small cubic rooms
which mean you can jump to a wall and straight away easily aim at another and
it's not a large distance making it quicker. In here it took me about 8
minutes.
[DST 02.35]
One Gun
Gold
Beat the game using only the Plasma Cutter.
Sounds simple just don't fire any weapon apart from the Plasma Cutter, you can
buy and even equip any other weapon but if you fire a shot then you will not
get this trophy.
Now I've heard loads of people harping on about how hard this is and always do
it on a New Game+ with everything full upgraded, but I found this really easy.
I did this to first time I played the game through on easy mode and barring a
few hectic sections and some enemies are a bit of a pain, but on easy mode this
should prove no problem at all and frankly the Plasma Cutter is the best gun in
the game.
The irritating enemies can be the Dividers but taking your time to pick your
shots and heavy use of stasis makes these more than managable, just remember to
ensure you shoot every limb once it has seperated and that the head will always
come after you regardless if you seperated it or not.
Brutes can be a bit of a pain if you're not quick but on easy none of them ever
got anywhere near hitting me.
The worst by a long shot and frankly the enemy I hate most in the whole game
are the Spiders. Those little herds of that suddenly appear out of doorways
and around corners, if you run into them by mistake you can probably count
yourself dead. Try to retreat and start shooting into the group and each shot
should kill multiple Spiders keep plowing into them and you should be able to
prevent them doing too much damage.
The other enemy that tends to be awkward is the Spawners, purely because of the
amount of ammo you can waste on them. Luckily a fair few of them have an
explosive canister near by that you can Kinesis grab and launch at them as soon
as the tenticles begin to sprout, apart from that you're just going to have to
shoot each tenticle in turn. Try staying behid cover and use Stasis to limit
the number of pods they shoot out, play defensively and do not get too close as
Spawners have an instant kill move whenever you get within range, this is why
they guard doors.
[DST 02.36]
Brawler
Bronze
Kill at least 30 enemies with a melee attack.
As you would expect you need to finish off 30 enemies with your stomp or
punching attacks, but remember it only has to be the finishing move so you
could shoot a Slashers legs off and then stomp on it.
Towards the begining of the game when the enemies are weak, Stasis them and
just wail on them with your physical attacks if it safe to do so. A New Game+
is recommended but not essential.
[DST 02.37]
Maxed Out
Gold
Upgrade all weapons and equipment.
Like it says you need to upgrade everything possible, all 7 weapons, your RIG,
Kinesis and Stasis. You don't need to fill every node slot just all the ones
that give stat increases.
This will require a New Game+ to acomplish as there are only 36 nodes lying
around in the game, obviously you can buy more for 10,000 credits a piece but
it takes a lot of doing. Just be paitient and you'll get there, also when you
start a New Game+ you get 10 nodes given to you helps.
[DST 02.38]
Ragdoll Check
Bronze
Force an enemy into a Gravity Panel 5 times.
In Chapter 4 when you take back lift in the Main Atrium down to Ships Systems
as Kendra tells you there are malfunctioning floor panels that instead of
sticking you to the floor fling you to the ceiling and splatter you. Luckily
they also do this to the Necromorphs, as you walk round the corner to the first
malfuntioning panel a Necromorph will charge you and get splattered to show you
where not to step so what you need to do is force 5 live Necromorphs onto the
panels to kill them.
There are also gravity panels in Chapter 9 but this is far easier in Chapter 4
due to concentration of panels & Necromorphs. How I did this was to stand just
back from a panel and lure a Necromorph towards you, when they get between you
and the panel then zap them with with Kinesis and walk into them carefully and
you will begin to push them into the panel. Be careful you want the enemy to
fly not you, but I think it does still count if you splater as well because I
manage to kill 4 no problem but the fifth one I misjudged and followed it up to
the ceiling but just as I died the game awarded me the trophy so just be
careful.
[DST 02.39]
Big Spender
Bronze
Spend 200,000 credits at the store.
As it says you just need to buy 200,000 credits worth of stuff from the Store.
It's pretty hard not to get this one as long as you consistently use the Store.
When you have nothing to buy spend your credits on a Power Node.
Just keep spending consistently, remember it's only 20 nodes and with suit
upgrades and weapons it really isn't that much. You should get this around
Chapter 10.
[DST 02.40]
Slugger
Bronze
Kill the Slug Boss with more than 50% Shield strength remaining.
Don't worry this one isn't nearly as bad as Don't Get Cocky, Kid but it still
requires concentration. All the same rules apply as before but as I said in
Get Off My Ship [DST 02.17] play defensively. The big difference with the Slug
over the asteroids is that you can see the attack coming before it actualy gets
in your face and can even prevent most of the attacks being launched in the
first place.
1 Focus on any tenticle that bends down to pick up debris, shooting its weak
point will cause it to cancel the attack.
2 If nothing is going on for a split second take a few pot shots at the
nearest tenticle.
3 Try to work from the outside in, this is a bit of a task to start with when
all then tenticles are active at once but I tend to take out the left most
one and in the process heavily damage the second one in then move to the
right most one and repeat. This makes the attacks towards the end of the
fight when it gets more frantic a bit more managable.
4 Don't be so focused on the Slug, or indeed one area of the Slug that you
miss incoming projectiles, it should go without saying but taking these out
is your top priority.
5 Don't look at the sheild strength, it'll only put you off.
6 Don't be in a rush, it may seem like the game isn't registering your hits
but it really doesn't matter, just keep playing it safe and it'll die soon
enough.
7 As I suggested in number 3 the outer most tenticles are the biggest threat,
simply because they are the furthest apart and focusing on one presents the
greatest chance of distracting you. If you're quick you can sometimes
destroy a tenticle before the Slug has even done anything. It doesn't
always work and you need to be accurate but it never hurts to try.
8 If you're having trouble then use the same trick as with the ADS defence,
make a seperate save file before the battle so you can try again at your
leisure.

There's Always Peng
Bronze
Find the Peng Treasure, which is located right back at the beginning of the
game, in fact you can see it Chapter 1 as soon as you step off your ship into
the docking bay. Keep looking in the gaps between walkways, as you walk away
from your ship it should be on the left. Sadly you can't grab it yet as you
need kenesis, so when you come back here in Chapter 11 and mess around with the
gravity go and seek it out. Just draw it towards you like any other item and
when you pick it up the trophy is yours.

Dead on Arrival
Bronze
Complete Chapter 1 on any difficulty setting.
== Over All Trophy Gathering Strategy [DST 03.00] ==
This section will give you a bullet pointed list of what you should be doing in
each chapter as you progress through the game in order to efficently gather all
of the trophies in the game right up to that lovely platinum.
When finishing a run through your will find an Important Note section between
plays, please read these as they are going to offer vital information on how to
proceed because it's not as straight forward as you may think.
The basic structure will be as follows:

the ability to play on Impossible Mode and the all important
Level 6 "Military Suit".
Trophies [DST 02.41] to [DST 02.47] are for killing a certain
number of enemies with each weapon. If you want to count
that's up to you, I just pick one and didn't switch off of it

Important Note: Now you have reached the end of playing on easy mode there is
one important thing you must do. Save JUST BEFORE the Hive
Mind and then when you kill it DO NOT SAVE after the credits.
Then without doing anything else and without turning off your
system start a new game on Normal (or any difficulty you like)
and when you start the game you will be wearing the Level 6
Suit. This is going to make life a lot easier. Then when you
finish the game on Normal and want to go to hard you can just
load up your Easy file and kill the Hive Mind again and you
can always have the Level 6 Suit.
For the record I personally always work my way up through the
difficulty levels to learn the game inside out but how you
proceed is up to you, all you need to do is kill the Hive Mind
on Impossible mode and you're done.

== Impossible Mode [DST 04.00] ==
Welcome to Hell, this is where the truely insane prove themselves.
For this section of the guide I'm going to first give you pointers and details
on the various enemies and then specific areas of the game that pose the
greatest challenge.
Enemies [DST 04.01]
* Slashers
These are your bog standard enemy. They are the bipeadal ones with spikes
coming out of their arms that run at you.
Firstly just because they are the most basic enemy type do not write them off
as stupid, in fact a group of Slashers can be worse than a Brute quite easily.
They will run at you when they see you but if you move too far away or go
through a door quite often they will climb through the vents to get nearer to
you, in fact they love coming out of the vents behind you so try to make sure
when you have your back to a wall that there is no vent in it.
They are also quite partial to playing dead, if you ever see a body that looks
less than human it's probably going to jump at you as soon as you get close.
Luckily the preset ones don't change with the difficulty level, however if you
take the legs off of one it may decide to lay still untill you get closer so if
you're not sure try using kinesis to move it, if it don't move it ain't dead
(ironically).
The best way to deal with Slashers is to use your Plasma Cutter in secondary
fire mode or the Line Gun to take out the legs, go for theknees. This will
weaken them and slow them down giving you a chance to deal with whatever else
is trying to rip your head off. Once they're down use the Plasma Cutter to go
for the shoulders or elbows to take the arms off and kill it.
* Dark Slashers
Treat these exactly like a normal Slasher but go for them asap as they are
twice as tough to take down and they hurt. Their legs take quite a bit of
punishment to remove and be careful they move quite fast even in stasis if
you're not paying attention.
* Stasis Slashers
Oh how I hate these, again a normal Slasher, a bit weaker maybe but stupidly
fast. Taking their legs out will stop their fancy movements and basically turn
them into a normal Slasher, but you need to finish them quickly.
With Stasis Slashers you will normally have a fair line of sight when they come
charging at you so aim downwards and shoot and normally you will get them, use
the Line Gun to be sure. If all else fails feel free to try hitting them with
stasis but it's difficult at best.
* Stingers
These are the ones that crawl towards you with two forearms and a long tail
ending in a spike that they love flicking over their heads to attack.
Probably the most annoying standard enemy simply because they can be a real
pain to hit and a pack of Stingers can seriously ruin your day. This is
because of the shape of the thing it can be hard to get a clean shot at a
joint, still the elbows or shoulders are your best bet, the tail may be a
bigger area but it's tougher to take off. The head comes off pretty easy but
it doesn't really slow them down so feel free to use stasis to make your life
easier.
Stingers will always try to get in close, (ie. leap) and then turn to face you
before they attack. You can use this to your advantage as if you keep running
in a semi-circle then it will constantly try to turn to face you giving you the
chance to stasis it or pick it off. This works fairly well on groups as well
as the furthest ones will try to leap towards you so use this to your
advantage. If they do lash out at you then just back off slightly.
The Plamsa Cutter works well just don't hesitate to swap the angle of the beams
before you let them have it.
* Dark Stingers
Exactly the same as normal Stingers just a bit tougher and I think a little
faster, same tactics will work but I always Stasis them first.
* Lurkers
These are the small ones that scamper around on the walls and ceilings that
have mutated from babies. When they stop they will grow three tenticles from
their backs and throw projectiles at you. If you get too close they can swipe
at you with their tenticles or jump at your face and repeatedly stab you in the
back.
The weak point is fairly obvious, just wait until they sprout their tenticles
and then remove them. A few clean shots just above their back aimed at the
middle tenticle with the Plasma Cutter can sever all three if your lucky. They
shouldn't give you too much trouble but if you are fighting severl or in an
enclosed space (such as the transport trolley in Chapter 7) just step back and
forwards or side to side to throw off their aim.
* Dark Lurkers
Again exactly the same as a normal Lurker just takes and gives more damage.
* Pregnants
These are the big lumbering guys with large shoulders and a massive belly. The
most obvious thing about these guys is DO NOT SHOOT THEM IN THE BELLY! Doing
so will cause them to die instantly but they will release (give birth) to
either Lurkers or Spiders and you don't want this to happen as Pregnants are
fairly easy to deal with.
These things are quite slow until they see you but when they do they will
charge straight at you before slashing at you with their arms. This provides
you with the perfect oppertunity to get them with a nice line of sight. Shoot
at their arms, try to keep away from the body, the Line Gun can take them down
in one shot if you're accurate but be careful with your aim.
* Dark Pregnants
These are fairly rare as they only show up once or twice, same rules though
really focus on getting those arms off and once again the Line Gun is your best
friend here.
*Spawners
These are the things you find in a few places stuck to the wall with several
tenticles coming out of their chests. They will systematically 'spawn' small
lumps of flesh that sprout a single tenticle.
Spawners can be a real drain on your ammo as you can't avoid them, if you try
getting near them a large tenticle with a sharp blade will appear and
decapitate Issac instantly so keep your distance. The way to kill a Spawner is
to destroy all of its tenticles, you'll know when it's dead as it will make a
series of long screams and will drop an item (normally something quite good).
The best way to deal with a Spawner is to hide corner or some other object
providing cover and just pop out for a shot then dive back in, hopefully
shielding yourself from damage from the pods. The Line Gun's secondary fire,
the mine, is probably your best tool here. Shoot a mine or two at the centre
of the Spawners chest and you will do some real damage.
Fortunately there are only a handful in the game and most of them have a handy
explosive barrel near by so pick this up and throw it straight into the centre
of the creature and it can kill them instantly if you're lucky.
*Spawn Pods
These are the little lumps of flesh that Spawners produce, they sprout a single
tenticle a few seconds after landing on the ground and can be easily killed by
severing the tenticle. Be careful however as they are fast to fire at you when
you come out of hiding, in fact it may be better to dodge these before firing
on the Spawner.
Beware though when you kill one it will convalse slightly then lay still before
exploding, this will hurt you if you're too close.
*Splitters
These are the tall, lanky morphs you find. There are only a handful in the
game but they can be a real pain if you go in with the wrong tactics. You can
easily recognise them as they have more cloths on and more closely resemble
humans than the other Necromorphs but if you go to dismember them each limb
will turn into a little 'Crawler' and attack you by itself.
The strategy then is to freeze the Splitter with stasis then systematically
shoot off one arm then kill the Crawler before it has a chance to move then the
next arm. After the arms do the legs, topping up the stasis if you need to and
finishing with the head. Once all five limbs are off and their Crawlers dead
the Splitter will be defeated just be careful not to loose a Crawler or you'll
probably regret it.
*Crawler
These things are irritating because they are so small and can move on any
surface so you're never too sure where they are when you hear them. Normally
one shot from the Plasma Cutter should be enough to deal with them just make
sure you keep your distance and keep them in your sights. Crawlers only appear
in a few places throughout the game, and of course from Splitters so you should
be able to deal with them fairly easily.
*Spiders
These are the little three legged bugs that appear in large groups and leap on
you. These are seriously the most dangerous enemy in the game, if you run into
a group of these on anything apart from easy mode with a mid to high level suit
then you're dead. Fortunatly anything will kill them, the Pulse Riffle will
normally make short work of them, or the secondary fire of the Contact Beam is
excellent but the timing can be tricky.
The other thing to remember is that a few boxes throughout the game contain
spiders, so be careful when smashing things open. However I have found that if
you stamp a box open you NORMALLY kill every Spider within, but this isn't 100%
safe. The Spider boxes to give themselves away if you take a moment to look as
they will bounce as if something is trying to get out so stay sharp.

Cheats [DST 05.01]
There are 8 different cheats in Dead Space, 6 of which can be use only once per
game round and the other 2 you can use as many times as you like. I personally
don't really see these as game breaking cheats so can't see the harm in it but
the decision is entirely yours, all they do is speed up some upgrading really
you still have to survive the game.
All these codes must be entered on the pause menu (that is after ou press start
to pause the game).

== FAQ [DST 05.02] ==
Q. I can't get trophy xyz, help.
A. This guide covers everything I can possibly think of so please
search for the trophy above.
Q. Help! I'm in chapter 12 and the Marker is stuck in the final
loading bay, the door is open but it won't move out.
A. I had this happen to me and it's a right bugger but luckily
it seems to be easy enough to fix. Load up your save file
and then istead of trying to take the marker forwards take it
back to the previous loading bay, the one you used to enter this
room. Now save and reload, the Marker will be sat just outside
the bay you left it in and the glitch should have cleared!
Q. You advise using cheats, that just proves you have no skill!
(or similar insults that can't be printed here)
A. This guide is about efficient trophy gathering, if you choose
not to play the game properly aside from this then that's up to
you not me. All I'm doing is giving you all the information
and the most efficient method, that's all.
Q. I've just finished chapter x for the first time but the game
didn't award me a trophy, why not?
A. This happened to me on chapter 5 on my first play through, I've
no idea why it happens but it quite happily gave it to me the
next time I completed that chapter so I wouldn't worry too much.
