Introduction _______________________________________________________________________________ Ridge Racer 7 continues the long running series by Bandai-Namco introduced in 1994. This is a game that allows you to compete in drift-style racing and drive at over 200 mph/320 km/h. This edition of the game features 22 circuits, over 70 cars from 10 manufacturers and features many customizable parts including engine upgrades, tires, nitrous oxide, wheels and body kits. Racers start out by entering a manufacturer's trial with a choice of 3 starting cars. Winning a trial allows use of that car and gives you manufacturer's points. More points gained will result in price discounts, a chance to compete in exclusive events from that manufacturer and unlock new cars. But that is only the beginning. Winning the 14 Ridge State Grand Prixs will allow you to enter Extreme Battles which allow you to face even tougher competition and unlock one-of-a-kind automobiles. Then there is the thrill of competing online. You can compete against players from over 60 countries in Online Battles and challenge their best times in Global Time Attack. Plus the UFRA Special Events give you unique challenges to put yourself against. Ridge Racer 7 is one of the first great games for the PS3 and you will enjoy the amazing challenges. Good luck to you in competing in Ridge Racer 7! 2. The following is information on each standard automobile that you can drive in the Ridge State Grand Prix as well as cars that can be unlocked in Extreme Battles. There are 4 categories of the car's power with Category 4 being the lowest and Category 1 being the highest. Some cars are available at all categories and some which are only available in higher categories. This will also include the drift style of the automobile (Standard, Mild or Dynamic), the car's initial top speed (which excludes upgrades and the use of nitrous oxide) and the cost of the car at each category. Parts/Manufacturers _______________________________________________________________________________ Just like automobile manufacturers, you can unlock parts from various manufacturers with body kits, wheels, engines, tires/suspension and nitrous oxide available. But car manufacturers also offer initial upgrades on engine upgrades, tires/suspension and nitrous oxide. You can also gain points for using parts from other manufacturers on your car to gain discounts and compete in exclusive events. With the exception of engines, all parts are interchangeable and can be fitted on to your car regardless of category. So if you own 2 of the same car but in different categories, the parts will be fitted to your other car at no additional cost. Exterior Parts - Body Kit Manufacturers (each separate part costs the same amount for the different manufacturers) --------------------------------------- Quox's: 5,600 CR (28,000 CR total) Arkbird: 4,000 CR (20,000 CR total) Dig Dug: 1,600 CR (8,000 CR total) Dragon Saber: 6,000 (30,000 CR total) Exterior Parts - Wheel Manufacturers ------------------------------------ Andor Genesis: 4,000 CR per Wheel Set Star Blade: 4,000 CR per Wheel Set Kilik: 4,000 CR per Wheel Set Engine Manufacturers -------------------- Solvalou (Stage 2 Medium Power Engine): 7,000 CR (Category 4) 12,000 CR (Category 3) 18,000 CR (Category 2) 30,000 CR (Category 1) Druaga (Stage 2 Highest Power Engine): 7,000 CR (Category 4) 12,000 CR (Category 3) 18,000 CR (Category 2) 30,000 CR (Category 1) Zolgear (Stage 2 Lowest Power Engine): 7,000 CR (Category 4) 12,000 CR (Category 3) 18,000 CR (Category 2) 30,000 CR (Category 1) Tires/Suspension Manufacturers ------------------------------ Bosconian: 15,000 CR (features Mild Drift Suspension) Rolling Thunder: 10,000 CR (features Dynamic Drift Suspension) Astaroth: 22,000 CR (features Tighter Cornering) Nitrous Oxide Manufacturers --------------------------- Galaxian: 35,000 CR (includes Normal Charge U with higher Charge at the end of the Boost and Normal Charge B with Higher Charge outside of Boost) Consumer Tec: 55,000 CR (includes Flex Nitrous which turns the Nitrous into one large tank and Charges during drifting and Boosts and comes in quick 1-second bursts, Extended Nitrous which turns the 3 Nitrous tanks into 2 large tanks and Hi Nitrous which burns Nitrous faster but provides higher speed) General Resource: 60,000 CR (includes Reverse Charge which Charges only during drifts and Auto Charge which charges the Nitrous regardless of action) With Exterior Parts, there is no difference for your car's performance regardless of what you equip you car with. But the other parts offer different variations. Engine manufacturers differ with the top speed that can be reached, Tires differ with the ability to change a car's drift style to make it more maneuverable or more stable and Nitrous can be changed to last longer, be more powerful and even fill up automatically. 6. Circuit Descriptions _______________________________________________________________________________ With a total of 22 different circuits in the game, each one has it own unique characteristics but some circuits even use sections found in other circuits. These circuits can also be driven in reverse direction. The following will describe each circuit in detail in the normal direction from shortest to longest. Aviator Loop - 1.861 mi/2.996 km -------------------------------- The game's shortest circuit starts off with a sharp left hairpin turn followed by a right-left chicane. Next is a 90-degree left followed by a gliding right curve. The lap concludes with a long left hairpin before returning to the Finish line. Lakeshore Drive - 2.097 mi/3.376 km ----------------------------------- The circuit starts with a 90-degree right before entering a tunnel. A quick left is taken when exiting the tunnel. This is followed by two gliding right curves before taking a left curve followed by another right. This is followed by a right hairpin curve around the lake. The circuit finishes with a 90-degree left and 2 small turns before the blind 90-degree right turn to reach to the Finish line. Surfside Resort - 2.191 mi/3.527 km ----------------------------------- The circuit starts with a chicane consisting of a quick left curve, followed by a tight right hairpin and a sharp left curve. The following left-right S-curve can be taken without drifting. The circuit then enters a gliding right curve through a tunnel. When the tunnel exits, the circuit goes downhill into a right hairpin and then a sharp left hand turn. The small left-right chicane does not require drifting. After crossing the bridge, the circuit ends with a long 90-degree right curve to reach the Finish line. Seacrest District - 2.431 mi/3.913 km ------------------------------------- The circuit starts with a long left curve which at top speed will need drifting. A sharp 90-degree right curve immediately follows and that is followed by a long gliding left curve through a tunnel. At the end of the curve is a tight right hairpin and a sharp right turn which can be driven as one turn. The circuit then goes into a long chicane consisting of a 90-degree left, a long right hairpin and a second 90-degree left. This is followed by a sharp right turn and a quick left with a jump which can send cars into the buildings, losing time. The circuit finishes with a downhill right curve and a right hairpin, reaching the Finish line. Seaside Route 765 - 2.54 mi/4.089 km ------------------------------------ This is a classic Ridge Racer circuit and one of the most challenging in the game with narrow roads and blind curves. The course starts easily with a long right curve through a tunnel which narrows. After exiting the tunnel, a chicane with a sharp right and a sharp left curve will be negotiated. The circuit then takes a quick left curve followed by a quick right and a 90-degree right turn. The left-right S-curve can be taken with no drifting. This is followed by the toughest hairpin curve in the game which because of the narrow road and the small runoff sections, can result in hitting the wall and losing a lot of time. After a short left curve, comes a long left curve before the circuit widens again. The circuit concludes with a sharp right turn and a long right curve which can be taken as one turn before reaching the Finish line. Be advised that this course is only available to race starting with the Final State (14th) Ridge State Grand Prix. After winning he Final State Grand Prix, this course is unlocked. Harborline 765 - 2.589 mi/4.167 km ---------------------------------- The circuit starts with a quick left curve over a bridge followed by a sharp right-left chicane into a narrow section which continues with a left hand turn before going into a 90-degree right and then a quick right-left chicane. The circuit then takes a quick left curve uphill to a blind 90-degree right. This is followed by two right hand turns that can be taken as one turn. After going off the downhill jump and taking the quick left over the bridge, two more left hand turns are taken before taking a long right hairpin to reach the Finish line. Island Circle - 2.595 mi/4.177 km --------------------------------- Perhaps the toughest circuit in the game. The course starts with the back stretch section from the Harborline 765 circuit. After going over the bridge, the circuit takes a sharp left hand turn quickly followed by a right curve and a right hairpin. A left curve follows before the only full throttle section of the course. Then the longest chicane in the game will have to be negotiated. This consists of a left curve, a right hairpin, a right-left-right S-curve and a sharp left turn. Two quick right curves are then followed by a sharp right turn and a right-left chicane leading to the Finish line. Sunset Heights - 2.643 mi/4.254 km ---------------------------------- The circuit opens with a quick left curve uphill followed by a sharp right hairpin before going through a tunnel. After the tunnel, the circuit becomes more technical starting with a sharp right hairpin followed by a long left-right-left chicane, leading into a second tunnel. A jump leading out of the tunnel, leads to a blind right hairpin before entering a quick left curve and a sharp left hairpin. Then comes the quick right curve and sharp right hairpin from the Surfside Resort circuit before reaching the Finish line. Shadow Caves - 2.886 mi/4.644 km -------------------------------- The circuit starts with long straight before a quick left curve to enter the cave, followed by a 90-degree right and a long left turn. A short right turn leads to the cave exit before a left hairpin. Two quick left curves are taken before a 90-degree right turn leading to a second long full throttle. After taking the short left curve under the crossover, two tight right turns are taken before going off the jump to reach the Finish line. Laketop Parkway - 3.002 mi/4.832 km ----------------------------------- A straight forward circuit that starts with the 90-degree right turn and tunnel from the Lakeshore Drive circuit. The circuit then goes into a 90-degree right turn to exit the tunnel. The circuit then crosses a bridge with a quick left curve before taking another 90-degree right. Then the circuit takes a long, gliding left curve, followed by two more 90-degree right turns. The circuit then narrows with two short right curves which can be taken as one turn, followed by a tight left hairpin. This leads to a final 90-degree right turn, leading to the Finish line. Lost Ruins - 3.036 mi/4.886 km ------------------------------ The circuit starts a long left turn and a quick left that can be taken as one turn. A quick but blind left curve follows, then comes a double jump down a large hill. A right-left-right S-curve follows, then comes a long left hairpin back uphill. Then a quick right curve is followed by a small jump that can take cars off the wall of a quick left, resulting in a loss of time. A left hand curve is then followed by a left hairpin and a tight right hairpin before taking the short right curve to reach the Finish line. Midtown Parkway - 3.305 mi/5.319 km ----------------------------------- This circuit uses the same opening section as Harborline 765. The change begins after the blind 90-degree right at the top of the hill. A right curve is followed by a tight chicane with a 90-degree left and a quick right turn. After a quick left-right chicane, a right hairpin in a tunnel will lead to a quick left turn and then a quick right leading into a very narrow straight, ending with an uphill chicane with a 90-degree right turn and a quick left before going off a jump to reach the Finish line. Mist Falls - 3.631 mi/5.844 km ------------------------------ The circuit starts with a long left curve before a long 90-degree left curve followed by a tight 90-degree right curve. The circuit then takes a long, gliding right curve before taking a left hairpin to go uphill on the same double jump from the Lost Ruins circuit. Then the circuit goes underneath the waterfall, entering with a quick right curve and a 90-degree left turn. After exiting that section then the circuit enters a tunnel with a chicane featuring a right and left 90-degree turn then a left hand curve. After exiting the tunnel, a small jump leads to a quick right curve and then a sharp left turn efore reaching the Finish line. Industrial Drive - 3.631 mi/5.845 km ------------------------------------ A simple circuit which starts with 2 small chicanes taken at without drifting. The circuit then takes a 90-degree left turn followed by a full throttle section. A quick left curve is followed by a jump leading into a sharp left turn. Then comes a right hairpin leading to a long left curve. Next comes a long double left turn which finishes with a 90-degree left. A 90-degree right and a 90-degree left lead to the Finish line. Southbay Docks - 3.638 mi/5.894 km ---------------------------------- The circuit starts out with a difficult chicane featuring a left hairpin followed by two right-left combinations in rapid succession. The circuit then takes a right hairpin to a quick right curve on to the opening section of the Aviator Loop circuit. After the 90-degree left comes a long full throttle section leading to a gliding right curve. Next comes, a quick right and a long 90-degree left. Then comes, a long left hairpin, leading into a tunnel. Out of the tunnel, comes a blind right-left S-curve leading to a jump where the use of Nitrous Oxide is not recommended in order to avoid crashing at the last right-left chicane which leads to the Finish line. Old Central - 3.665 mi/5.932 km ------------------------------- This circuit starts with two identical sections with a full throttle right curve leading to a sharp left turn. Then a long right curve is followed by three left turns featuring two 90-degree turns with a quick curve in between. After taking the big jump, the circuit goes into a long right curve bringing the circuit to a chicane with a 90-degree right and a left hairpin. A long left curve leads to the Finish line. Airport Lap - 3.71 mi/5.971 km ------------------------------ This circuit starts with a long right hairpin and a long left hairpin, followed by a 90 degree right and a quick left-right chicane going uphill. After a long full throttle section comes a tight right turn and two quick rights following. Another chicane with a 90-degree right and a gliding left are followed by a 90-degree left and another 90-degree right. After going through the hangar, a quick left-right chicane and a 90-degree right turn lead to the Finish line. Downtown Rave City - 3.838 mi/6.177 km -------------------------------------- The circuit starts with a long left curve that goes steeply uphill and then back downhill. Next after a big jump comes a long left-right-left chicane. Then comes the first tunnel with a 90-degree right and a left hairpin. The tunnel ends at another 90-degree right turn. The second tunnel starts with a long left curve followed by a right-left chicane. Two quick turns uphill lead out of the tunnel. Then the circuit goes into a left hairpin before opening into a long full throttle section to the Finish line. Highland Cliffs - 3.962 mi/6.377 km ----------------------------------- This circuit opens with the same 90-degree turn and tunnel used in Lakeshore Drive and Laketop Parkway. Unlike the other two, at the end of the tunnel, the circuit goes into a 90-degree left leading into a very difficult section. This section starts with a right hairpin and a gliding right curve, followed by a tight left hairpin. Next comes a chicane of three 90-degree right turns with a small jump between the second and third turns. The second and third turns of the chicane can be taken as one turn. After that, the course becomes easier and opens up into the final section used in the Laketop Parkway circuit. Bayside Freeway - 4.224 mi/6.799 km ----------------------------------- This is the most basic course in the game and features only 3 left hand turns at relatively equal intervals. Only the first turn, a hairpin used in the Industrial Drive circuit, is most effective for drifting. Rave City Riverfront - 4.363 mi/7.023 km ---------------------------------------- This course starts with a tight right turn in a tunnel which also includes a right-left chicane. After exiting the tunnel, a 90-degree left is taken followed by a chicane with a quick left curve and a long right hairpin. The long straight that follows features two jumps. With the second jump, the use of Nitrous Oxide is discouraged as it can lead to crashing into the small right-left chicane that follows it. Next comes a long right hairpin that can be taken at nearly full throttle. Then a left-right chicane will lead to a straight with another big jump. If your car is at a high enough speed, it can land on the high road above the coming chicane used in the Downtown Rave City circuit. A second tunnel features the start of the final chicane with a tight right hairpin, a quick left curve and a quick right curve leading to the Finish line. Crossbay Tunnel - 4.442 mi/7.149 km ----------------------------------- The longest circuit in the game could also be the most fun as well. This circuit starts with a quick left-right chicane, followed by a right hairpin. A quick left curve leads into the first tunnel and a blind right curve comes out of it. The second tunnel is unique. It starts with a 360-degree Kriesel curve and leads into a technical section which starts with a jump followed by a long right curve and then into a narrow left-right chicane. Then comes a blind right hairpin and then a long left curve. The tunnel ends at a 90-degree right before entering the third tunnel used in the Downtown Rave City Circuit. The tunnel this time ends a long left uphill curve before entering a right hairpin then exiting the tunnel and opening up into the long stretch to the Finish line. 7A. Ridge State Grand Prix Events _______________________________________________________________________________ In Ridge State Grand Prix Events, there are different competitions based on the category of your car. 8A. Online Battle
________________________________________________________________________________

Online Battle provides racers with the oppourtunity to challenge opponents from
over 60 countries on 6 continents in a variety of races. Competitors can enter
races with a number of conditions which include a variation on the number of
cars in the race from 2 to 14, the chance to work together in a Team or Pair
Battle and even compete in a Pair Time Attack. In most circumstances, races are
conducted the same as in a typical race, as those who do not win must complete
the race within 60 seconds of the winner.

In Team Battles and Pair Battles, competitors try to finish as high in the
rankings as possible to score points for their team. The team with the best
score is the winner.

In all Online Battles, you are able to score Fame Points and Credits like in
other races. The Fame Points are only scored by the top finishers and the more
competitors in a race, the more Fame Points can be scored but the number of Fame
Points that can be scored is very few but are important nonetheless when
determinig your online ranking. In terms of Credits, a victory can earn 30,000
Credits while a last place finish in a 14 car race earns 5,000 Credits.

Competitors can also attempt to gain Online Battle Points (OBP's) which are
determined by finishing as high as possible in a race where they are at stake.
The points are calculated by the number of competitors and their cumulative
OBP's. the points then averaged to determine the allocation. Competitors who win
or finish in a high ranking gain OBP's while those who finish in or near last
lose points. Scoring OBP's is important for our online ranking and reach a
certain amount of points will win you some trophies.

                              8B. Global Time Attack
________________________________________________________________________________

In Global Time Attack, competitors drive as fast as possible to gain the Course
Record for the World's Best. With 22 courses, 4 Categories and Normal and
Reverse directions for driving, one can set records on 176 different courses.

The most prized Records are for Category 1 Cars on Normal direction Circuits.
Only those with the 3,000 fastest online times are ranked for each circuit.
The following is a list of the Circuits in Category 1 with their respective Time
Attack records, compared with my own records and the times needed to be
guaranteed of being ranked (as of 13 September 2010).
