INTRODUCTION |=========== ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O Welcome to my walkthrough for Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, the latest installment to the series. It's a return to the old style gameplay, especially when compared to the last two games, which were different styles of games. After one of the most infamous manhunts in galactic history results in the capture of Vendra Prog, Ratchet and Clank offer to escort the dangerous criminal to the Vartax Detention Center. After a daring orbital jailbreak at the forgotten edge of the galaxy, Ratchet and Clank find themselves lost in an abandoned sector. There, in deepest space, they uncover an inter-dimensional event that threatens the universe--and forces Ratchet to decide whats really important. .------------. ======| Gameplay | '------------' The game plays like the older Ratchet titles, with weapons being leveled as you use them, as well as Ratchet's health. There are skill points to be performed, as well as hidden Gold Bolts. Progression is still based on going from planet to planet, with the ability to revisit older planets once you have gained new weapons and gadgets. Gravity is a theme for this game, with two new gameplay systems centered around it. At periods throughout the game, Clank will stumble upon rifts where he will enter. These Netherverses, as they are called, are 2D platforming segments where Clank has full control of gravity with the right analog stick. The other new gameplay element involves a gadget called the Grav Tether. There are targets around which Ratchet can shoot with the Tether, allowing him to create a beam that will carry him across large canyons. O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O ____________| |___________ ============| II. WALKTHROUGH |=========== ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O This walkthrough is designed to walk you through the game's entire story, from beginning to end. There aren't too many new mechanics to the classic Ratchet & Clank style of gameplay, and those that are new are easily understandable once you perform them a few times. .================. ====================| A. Nebulox 7 | (A101) '================' After the initial cutscene is over, you'll have to go wake up Zephyr and Cronk. For now, go around the initial area and break everything you can find to get some bolts. Hit the green switch to open the door, then do the same in the next hallway to get to the bridge. Smack both Cronk and Zephyr to wake them up, then follow them until you get a cutscene. When you gain control again, look up and down to find your friends, then look right to find the magnetic pathway. Hold down L1 and move the right analog stick to aim the cursor onto the walkway, then press X to perform a Grav-Leap. Follow the path, performing the same maneuver to get over any gaps until you get to a door. Aim with L1 again and then hit the switch with your wrench by pressing Square when you have the target over it. Keep moving until you are told to shoot the locks ahead with your Omniblaster. Do that and the platform will fall, allowing you to continue to another short scene. You'll now be outside of the ship and once you regain control, use the Grav-Leap to hit solid ground. Follow this path around, either sidestepping the meteors or shooting them, until you come to a thruster blocking your way. Wait for Cronk to temporarily disable it, then hurry past it and onto the next one. Do this until you reach the next platform to Grav-Leap to, which leads to another locked door. Open the door by hitting the switch with your wrench, then head inside. Vendra will now start talking to you and when she finishes, the next door will open. Continue on the path until you spot another platform to your right, so Grav-Leap to it before Vendra tries to kill you with the elevator. Go back and then continue until you encounter some bots, which Vendra will activate to attack you. Destroy them with your wrench or Omniblaster, then keep jumping to the next locked door. Open it to find more bots behind it, so destroy them and enter the containment cell with Vendra. Jump to the platform circling it and you'll need to place two battery bots back in place. It will move away from you if you get too close, so use the Comet Strike (Hold L1, then hit Square) to snag it. Throw the battery bot into either of the two spots, then the next one will appear. You can't grab it right away, so wait until it moves to the magnetic platforms above you. You'll have to Grav-Leap and quickly try to grab it before it flies off again. Onnce you have it, put it in the other receptacle and watch the short scene. Cronk tells you that you'll need to activate the generator outside to restore power to the Nebulox. Head to the airlock and you'll find one of the pieces to the RYNO VII sitting right there. Go outside and turn the Bolt Crank to restore power, which will prompt another scene to start. Once you're in control, Grav- Leap to the platform and then head back inside the ship. .----------------. ======| Under Attack | '----------------' In the second room, you'll spot the Fusion Grenade Glove sitting there, so grab it to get a new weapon. To switch weapons, hold Triangle to bring up the weapon wheel, and then move the left analog stick to weapon you want and let go of Triangle. In the next room, you will find little spinning ball-like enemies that stick out a saw when they get too close. It's probably best to kill these with the wrench or Omniblaster. You'll find some Thugs-4-Less Henchmen in the next room, who will rush you and try to do some melee. Use the Omniblaster or Fusion Grenade to take them out and more spinning balls will show up. Keep killing the enemies until you can continue down the next hallway, where you find a Thug shooting at you (use the Omniblaster). There will be more melee Thugs in the next room, as well as two blasting you while they're flying. Some Thug will destroy parts of the walkway and if you go around the long way, you'll find some crates with bolts. Keep fighting your way on the linear path, including a room full of Thugs-4-Less enemies. The rest of the way features familiar enemies, except one hallway with the Thug that broke the floor earlier, who shoots bombs similar to your Fusion Grenade, so jump when the bomb is about to hit the floor. Take out the enemies in the last room and go into the last room for another cutscene. After it's over, you'll be outside the ship, which has now been blown apart. Grav-Leap to the platform below and at the end, you'll encounter some enemies. Kill them and keep on moving, where on the next platform, the Thugs-4- Less ship will try ramming you, so you will need to quickly leap to the next platform. Keep jumping from platform to platform, killing enemies along the way, until you find yourself targeted by some rockets. You're likely to get hit if you stand still in one spot too long, so keep going until they stop. There will be one more instance where the enemy ship will try ramming you again. When you get to a covered tunnel-like area, get ready to Grav-Leap onto the enemy ship when it passes by, which will bring you to the next planet. .===================. ====================| B. Planet Yerek | (A102) '===================' There's only one path you can go for now, so jump onto the little islands and double jump up the ledges. As you continue, there will be some kind of quake that will cause a canyon to appear, so hover over it. There will be another big canyon that appears, so glide down and go through the nearby tunnel, gathering the Raritanium. Keep going until you spot some Thugs bothering someone. Take them out and there will be a short scene, where you will get the Grav Tether. To work this gadget, you need to aim at the purple targets on the walls, using L1 and then pressing Circle to fire. The first shot determines the direction, so you need to think about which way your going. When they're connected, a beam appears that you can jump into to ride to the next area. When you want to destroy a beam, aim the Grav Tether at one of the targets and "fire" at it. Use the Grav Tether to cross the first gap, then destroy the beam and use it to cross the next gap. Go forward and clear the area of Thugs, and you'll find a weapons vendor here. There are two new weapons you can buy, the Nightmare Box and Temporal Repulsor, as well as upgrade your already-acquired weapons with Raritanium (there's some behind the kiosk). Once you're finished, you have two objectives now on your map, to investigate the Thugs-4-Less Outpost and to enter the Azeril Caverns. .------------------------. ======| Thugs-4-Less Outpost | '------------------------' The outpost is located to the west on your in-game map. Head that way and kill the few enemies that show up, making sure you grab the Raritanium in the little alcove. In the next area, there will be plenty of enemies to battle, some of which are dropped in by a dropship. Make sure you be careful of the turret, who won't fire until you get close enough. Once the turret is clear, man and use it to destroy the two grates, one of which has some Raritanium and the other blocking a Grav Target. Connect that target with the one in the air, then while you're sitting in mid-air, connect the other two and ride the beam to the cliff. There are two enemies sitting on the ledge across the gap, so take them out and then use the Tether to get over there. Keep moving forward, killing enemies and using the Tether to cross gaps until you get to a big open area. You'll have to do battle with a bunch of enemies here, including more being dropped in by a dropship. Once they're all dead, go to the opposite end of where you landed and turn the bolt crank to lower the Grav Target. With it lowered, shoot it with the Grav Tether and then connect it to the highlighted one. While you're in the beam, shoot the one to the left of the second one you shot, then connect it to across the canyon. There will be more enemies here, including another turret, so be careful here. When it's all clear, man the turret and break open the grate to find an Infobot that will tell you about the arena. You're now back in the central area. .------------------. ======| Azeril Caverns | '------------------' Take the path that leads into some cave area, where you'll find a bolt crank. Turning it will reveal the next path, but it only stays open for a few seconds, so hurry on through it. You'll now be in a cave area, but if you go through the other tunnel, you'll find some Raritanium. In the next area, if you drop down below, you'll find more Raritanium and a few crates with bolts. To continue, you need to turn the bolt crank and raise/lower the targets, then shoot the further one first. Note that you only have 25 seconds to connect the two targets, hop across the platforms and ride the beam to the next area. Here, you'll find another part for the RYNO VII, as well as more Raritanium on a ledge near the lone platform. Keep going forward, paying no mind to the enemies scurrying about, as they'll disappear when you get close. However, when the earthquake causes a piece of the cave to fall, some of those bug-like creatures will come out and charge you. Hop across to the next area, where you'll find a plant that generates some of the monsters you just encountered. As you go forward, you'll encounter three more of these plants near the cave's exit. Concentrate on them first and once they're destroyed, you can clean up the rest of the enemies. Outside once again, glide down to the next area and you'll start encountering some Thugs again. For the Grav Targets, connect the two going across the canyon, then connect the other two, riding the beams to some more Thugs. Connect the next two beams, then cancel and connect the one you used previously to get across to a ledge with a bolt crank. Turn it to make one of the Targets rotate. Within 30 seconds, connect the target that turned to the one across the way, then cancel the previous beam and make it go the opposite way. This will allow you to ride the first beam and jump to the other going to the next area. Kill the enemies, man the turret and open the grate, going inside for a scene. .---------------------. ======| Another Dimension | '---------------------' After it's over, find the rift opening on the wall and enter it. You're now in control of Clank and have the ability to change your gravity using the right analog stick. Follow the instructions and make your way to the right and down, until you come to a Nether. Smack it to wake it up, then quickly follow the left path to get back to the portal, where you go back to reality and open up a path to the next area. Continue on and glide back down to an area you've been before, heading straight to the wall ahead to find another rift. This one's a little more challenging than the first, as there are blocks you need to move (you can use gravity or push/pull them with Circle) onto illuminated spots on the ground to open up doorways. The first block is easy, but the second takes a little maneuvering. Pull it and then use gravity to get it out of the first hole, then do the same to get it into the hole with the laser. Once it's in there, make gravity go to the right to place it on the switch and open the door to the Nether. Bringing it back to the portal isn't difficult, besides the fact you need to get a block onto a switch while avoiding the Nether. When you do that, the rest of the way is easy. Drop down and turn the bolt crank to make a Swingshot target appear. Swing across and then do the same with the second set to land on an island with another bolt crank. Turning it will give you 15 seconds to swing across to the next area. Here, glide down and pick up the audio journal, then connect the two Grav Targets. Ride the beam and then jump off and use the Swingshot to get to the next platform. Use the next Swingshot to climb up, then keep going until you come to a mini-boss. This is a pretty easy boss, as its only two attacks involve sweeping the ground with a laser one way, then immediately doing it in the opposite direction right after. It periodically puts up a shield, allowing it to take no damage. Keep blasting/hitting it with yur wrench to put it down for good. With the boss gone, use the Grav Tether to get to the platforms that drop, then cross those and use the Tether again to get inside of the orphanage. Follow the path, eliminating any enemies, until you eventually come to a dead end, where the floor will collapse below you. There are some plants that spawn enemies here, so take your time and destroy them first before you're overrun. Follow the path behind the plants, using the vendor to replenish your ammo if needed, until you come to another rift. The only tricky part at first is getting past the platforms that change gravity when you do. When you get to the Nether, make your way until you come to another of those platforms, where you will need to go up to move it out of the way. The rest of the way to the portal is easy. Glide down and continue on for another scene. The Nethers you fight afterwards are similar to Thugs, but they teleport around, making it hard to hit them sometimes. The good thing about killing them is that they give you one Raritanium. Keep going until you finally get out of the cave and see another scene, with you finally having access to your ship after it. .------------------------------------NOTE--------------------------------------. | | | You have the option to go to either Planet Kragg or Planet Silox next. It is | | wise to go to Kragg next, since you can only go so far in Silox without | | needing an item from Kragg. | | | '------------------------------------NOTE--------------------------------------' .===================. ====================| C. Planet Kragg | (A103) '===================' Planet Kragg is similar to the old-style combat arenas in previous titles. There are only three total cups to do, with the Gold locked until later in the game. To progress further on Planet Silox, you only need to finish all of the battles for the Bronze Cup, which will net you the GrummelNet Jetpack. All challenges offer a unique reward the first time through, which is reduced to 1,000 bolts on a second run through it. .------------------------. ======| Introductory Beating | '------------------------' - 3,000 Bolts This is a fairly easy challenge and as the name says, it's an introduction. It's a simple predetermined amount of waves of enemies, with your only goal to defeat all of them. It starts out with the Bladeballs, then goes on to the melee Thugs. Eventually you'll fight the ranged Thugs and there will be some bomb Thugs in the last round. .-----------. ======| Mangled | '-----------' - 4,000 Bolts, 2 Raritanium This battle has a large electrified tower in the middle of the arena, which sends out a shockwave every few seconds. Simply just over the shockwave to avoid it. The enemies in this round consist solely of flying Thugs, who will easily go down by using the Omniblaster. .----------------. ======| Pest Control | '----------------' - 5,000 Bolts, 2 Raritanium You are timed for this challenge, where you simply have to defeat all of the enemies. Those enemies are the Serathoids, or bug-like creatures, you've been fighting along the way, as well as the things that produce them. The Fusion Grenade is a great weapon to use to quickly get rid of a lot of the generators, then use another weapon to do the clean up. .-------------------. ======| Blazebot Battle | '-------------------' - GrummelNet Jetpack, 6,000 Bolts, 4 Raritanium The final battle of the Bronze Cup pits you against a giant robot similar to the one you fought right before the orphanage on Yerek. In fact, it has the exact same moves, so you shouldn't have to do anything different in this battle. Note that there will be Thugs that appear in the battle, so either take them out or concentrate on the Blazebot. .===================. ====================| D. Planet Silox | (A104) '===================' There's only one path to go, so follow it until you have to glide down to a larger area, where you'll find a weapons vendor, as well as an armor one. There are two new weapons to buy there, the Plasma Striker and the Nether Blades, as well as a new armor if you didn't buy it on Planet Kragg. If you go on the path behind the vendors, you'll find a room with another RYNO VII part. There's another dead end with a piece of the floor missing that houses some Raritanium. To continue, go opposite the path with the RYNO part and you'll find a plant spawning some enemies. Destroy it and you should see a Battery Bot running around. Grab it, bring it back to the main area and toss it into the receptable at the end. This will make the train move and extend the bridge, spawning two Nethers. Take them out and follow the path until you see a very short scene with a turret. Glide down and go to the right of the red light to avoid it, then keep going for another scene. The main path is blocked by turrets ahead, so you'll need a detour. There's an empty socket nearby, which also means there's a battery bot as well. If you look around, you can find a ledge to hop up on with another turret guarding the bot you need. Use the Comet Strike (hold L1, then press Square) to grab it and place it into the socket. This will cause some Swingshot targets to appear, so swing to the other side and you'll find quite a few Thugs hanging out. Defeat them all and glide down to the next ledge. .------------------. ======| The Waterworks | '------------------' Follow this tunnel, noting that some of those small enemies will appear, until you come to the waterworks. Take out all of the enemies, including the plant that spawns more, then connect the two Grav Targets. While riding the beam, use your Comet Strike to grab the battery bot in the middle, then place it into the socket. This will drain the water in the room and reveal a ledge below, so glide down there and take out the Thugs. Turn the bolt crank to make more platforms appear, but it will also make the water rise. Ignore the Thugs and make your way up these platforms, then use the magnetic path to get above ground again. Feel free to replenish your ammo with the nearby vendor. You'll see some Thugs across the bridge, who will jump over when they spot you. Defeat this wave and then another to finish them off, then continue to find even more enemies. You'll eventually reach a spot where you need to glide down to another ledge, where you will find a bigger area with a bunch of Grav Targets, with one near your position and a bolt crank near that. Forget about the bolt crank and connect the Target near you to the one across the way. This will allow you to land on a ledge where you can connect the other two, bringing you to a spot with a battery bot. Toss it in the nearby socket, which will open a door near the beginning, then make your way back there. Now, turn the bolt crank, then connect the Grav Target that rotated to the one behind the door. Note that you only have 23 seconds once you turn the bolt crank, so connect the two targets and then ride the beam until you get to the now raised platform. Use this to bypass the spotlight for the turret and ride through to the other side. Get rid of all the enemies, then turn the bolt crank in here to make some water rise, using the magnetic walkway to escape it. The next area is like a mini-arena, where you will have to face off against a bunch of Thugs. This culminates in a battle against a spaceship, which has two attacks. It will either fire a volley of blasts, which can be easily dodged by strafing to one side, or it will fire off electrical beams that need to be jumped over. Once you down the ship, Neftin orders the platform to be destroyed, which will make it start sinking. Make your way to the edge over near the pillar holding up the Grav Target and jump onto one of the platforms sticking out. Quickly connect the sinking target with the other one, then wait until you can jump into the beam. Go to the end of the walkway and turn the bolt crank, which reveals another Grav Target and a timer of 25 seconds. Connect the target close by to the revealed one, and as you're crossing the beam, throw your wrench to grab the battery bot. At the end, toss it into the socket to open the door and then continue on. There are two sets of Grav Targets here, with a security turret blocking each one's path. .-----------------. ======| Relay Station | '-----------------' Connect each target with the one across from it, then hop into the beam with the security turret that's further away, jumping into the other when you get the chance. Before you get to the end, where there's another target waiting, connect another set of targets and then yet another to reach a safe platform. Glide down and kill the Thugs, then start the hack on the relay station. You'll now have to fight off waves of enemies, with the first set coming from behind. There's nothing but Thugs until the very end, when you fight a robot like the one before the orphanage. Jump over the sweeping beams, then hit it when it doesn't have its shields up. Once it goes down, a short scene will occur, then there will be another wave coming in from the opposite side. Nothing but Thugs at first, but another ship like before comes along. Destroy it and then it's time for some Jetpack action. .------------------------------------NOTE--------------------------------------. | | | If you decided to go with Silox first before going to Kragg, then you will | | need to head back there and finish the Bronze Cup to get the GrummelNet | | Jetpack. You don't have to backtrack all the way, though, as there is a taxi | | that will bring you to your ship, as well as back to this spot when you | | return. | | | '------------------------------------NOTE--------------------------------------' Stand on the fuel station pad to refuel the jetpack, then use L2 to fly around. Note that tapping the L2 button is better than holding it down, unless you need to gain a lot of altitude. Your goal in this area is to find the three pumps, which are easily identifiable by the fact they spin on top. You will need to restore power to them by finding the battery bot nearby and then putting it in the socket right next to them. Turn the bolt crank to finish off that pump. Naturally, there are plenty of Thugs in the way, so make sure you clear the area before grabbing the battery bots. Don't forget to refuel at the various stations across the area as well. Once you have gotten all three, go to the spot shown when they connect and go down the pipe that is now open. The path is fairly linear, with plenty of Thugs along the way. Keep going until you encounter a turret, so take out the Thug and then use it to destroy the grate ahead. There will be more Thugs past the next set of stationary fans, and an empty socket. If you look down from the ledge, you should see the battery bot below, so drop down and grab it, then insert it. Make sure you refill your Jetpack before turning the bolt crank, as you will now need to escape from the sewers from the way you came down here. You will need to be fairly perfect or near perfection when escaping, as too many mistakes will make the water catch up to you, causing instant death. The fans have now begun to move, but they don't hurt you although they can get in your way. After the first set and going through the tunnel, the next path is up and to the right. Continue past the second set of fans to find a refill station. The next tunnel will lead to a bolt crank, which when turned, will stop the rising waters. Fly out of the sewers and into another battle with Thugs. After clearing the first few platforms of them, another ship will appear, with the only variation in its attacks being the electric beams rotating. When it's down, find the bolt crank and turn it to open a door, where you'll need to find another rift. This rift isn't too difficult, although you will need to manipulate the gravity in the beginning to get the block onto the switch to move the platform on the right. The next areas are nothing but dodging the spiked bombs and then it will be another gravity block puzzle. Getting this one onto the switch will open the way to the Nether, so bring it back to the portal to open the way to the boss. .---------------------. ======| BOSS: Neftin Prog | '---------------------' Despite Neftin's size, he is pretty quick and can put quite the hurting on you due to his speed. He wields two electrified chained balls which he can extend. Initially, he'll use attacks such as overhead swings with both weapons, then jump into melee range, where he'll proceed to swing at you with one of the spiked balls. Once you do enough damage (or enough time passes), he'll jump back and send out both of his weapons to his sides. He'll then proceed to send out electric shockwaves, which is easily avoidable by jumping over them. When he's done with that, he'll hang slightly above the arena and then send his other ball at you, which will send out an electric shockwave as soon as it hits the ground. Neftin will go through these attacks until you get his health to about 50%, where he will swing out of the arena. Now, trains will pass through and drop off enemies (all melee Thugs), so you'll want to get rid of them all as they come. There will be a total of five waves before Neftin returns to the battle, along with two Jetpack Thugs. Take care of the remaining Thugs while keeping an eye on Neftin, who will go back to attacking you like before. Blast away at Neftin, noting that the Jetpack Thugs will likely return at some point, so take them out before concentrating on Neftin again. Once you finally down Neftin, watch the cutscene that follows as all hell breaks loose now. You now have to escape the planet, which is populated with Nether creatures. That means you have to be careful and plan your shots, as they are known to teleport a lot before trying to attack you. There are two Nethers in the first area, then a large area with the Jetpack and one more Nether. Keep going until you encounter a larger Nether, whose only attack is to send a strong blast at the ground at your position (jump to avoid it). Kill this one off to initiate another scene, with your next destination being Planet Thram. .===================. ====================| E. Planet Thram | (A105) '===================' After landing on the planet, glide or ride the elevator down to meet the Smuggler. He says Neftin is located on the other side and you'll need some Hoverboots in order to get there. Unfortunately, Ratchet lost them when the Nebulox was blown up, and the Smuggler will give you the pair he has for 10 Gargathon horns. Find the nearby Jetpack refueling station and you'll see a path behind it. The horns you're looking for are either trapped inside of fossils, which will get you one, or from the creatures themselves (the large, flying ones), which will get you three. When you cross, you'll see a short scene that introduces a new enemy, one that explodes if it gets too close; it also explodes if you kill it, so don't get too close. There are around 14-16 Gargathon horns in the area before you will need the Hoverboots to get to other areas. There are at least two to three Gargathons around, some of which are flying around and one might be hiding underneath the water. As for battling them, they have two basic attacks, one of which is a roar that summons the small enemies you've been fighting the whole game. The other attack is a green laser that only hurts if it touches you. Once you get the required amount, head back to the Smuggler and get your Hoverboots. If you head towards the refueling station, you'll learn the Smuggler can fix it for another 30 horns. This is still the same, but thanks to the Hoverboots, there is much more room to cover. You still want to go in the same area as before, but utilizing the launch pads for the Hoverboots to get to previously inaccessible places. .------------------. ======| Finding Neftin | '------------------' Find and acquire the 30 horns, then return to the Smuggler to have him repair the refueling station. This will make it easier in finding Neftin, so find the other path near the Smuggler and take it. When you get to the bolt crank, turn it and you should see the location of the battery bot needed for the socket that appears. You only have 45 seconds to get to the bot's location, grab it and place it into the socket. Doing it will make a series of platforms appear, leading to a large platform with another bolt crank and some of the bomber enemies. From here, with the Jetpack, you should be able to see an area nearby with a ship of some kind. To the right of that is a smaller path, which is where Neftin is hiding. He asks you to go to the Museum where the Dimensionator is located. .====================. ====================| F. Planet Igliak | (A106) '====================' Your first goal when you get to Igliak is to head to the Museum of Intergalactic History. When you land, check the weapons vendor to see a new weapon, the Netherbeast, is available for purchase. Go straight ahead for a cutscene, then you will be able to head inside the museum. Note that the tourbot must be brought with you at all times inside, as it will be needed to progress. In the first room of the museum, you'll encounter some Bladeballs, so take them all out and go to the opposite side, where you'll find a pad with a hologram of the tourbot. Step on it while holding the bot to make the door open, then head into the next room to see a bunch of lasers. There's a bunch of pads here that will offer a bunch of lore pertaining to the Ratchet universe, but just make your way past the lasers. Hit the green button with your wrench, which will power off the lasers, then connect the two Grav Targets, starting with the one near the entrance. Ride the beam to the balcony above, then open the next door to the Natural History Wing, where you'll see a huge dinosaur-like creature. There is a crank bolt in the one corner that will change the positions of the Troglosaur's head and tail. Do this and then jump onto the exhibit, where you'll see another tourbot pad by its raised tail. Jump onto this platform to open up the ventilation shaft. Traverse this area, being mindful of the fans, using the paths that are open. There isn't anything hidden other than some crates with regular bolts, so there's no need to explore here. .----------------------. ======| Solana Galactorium | '----------------------' When you exit the ventilation shaft, you'll appear in a large planetarium-like room. Glide down to the platform with the tourbot pad, which will start a fight with a replica of Dr. Nefarious' biobliterator. All it will do is sit there and then look at you, firing a big laser. Simply Grav-Jump to another planet to avoid the laser, and keep firing at it until the thing is destroyed. The destruction of the biobliterator will reveal a Grav Target, so connect it with the one on the other side of the room. Ride the beam that's produced into the next room, where you'll find the tourbot sitting there. Pass through the next room, waiting until the conversation with Talwyn is finished before the tourbot pad appears, then destroy the Bladeballs in the next room. After clearing the Bladeballs, go to the next room, which is the Hall of Villainy, where you can read up on some of the villains in the series. In the next room is a button you can hit, which will turn on some music and make a series of platforms start to move. Use these to get to another tourbot pad, which will make the rest of the platforms in the room move. Use the central moving platform to get across the move, jumping over the lasers, then use the circular ones (which flip on its side when they reach the top of the movement path) to reach the exit. From here, it's a straight shot to the room with the Dimensionator, where reaching it will start a cutscene. .-------------------. ======| Nether Invasion | '-------------------' With the Dimensionator now in your possession, head to the other side of this room (with the tourbot in hand) and you'll find an elevator. This will be the final time you need the tourbot, so you can discard him afterwards. In the gift shop, you'll be ambushed by a few Nethers. These ones are similar to the ones you fought earlier in the game, except they have a boomerang-like saw that they can throw. After taking down the warriors, one of the winged ones will appear, so remember to jump when you see it charging up its attack. Kill it and head outside, where you can take the taxi to go to the center of the city. Your next objective is to take down four Netherbrutes, who are bigger versions of the flying ones you've fought. In addition to the laser attack that you're used to, they can also throw these portal machines on the ground that will keep spawning the warrior Nethers you just fought in the gift shop. In fact, you get a taste of these machines in the immediate area after getting off the taxi. You should always try and destroy these first before going after the Nethers. As mentioned before, there are a total of four Netherbrutes in this area, who are all in circular areas. When you get to these, Nether enemies will spawn and once you've killed them all, the Netherbrute will get into range and start attacking. Remember to take out the spawning machines, as things can get very hectic, very quick. If needed, feel free to return to the weapons vendor to replenish your ammo should you start running low. Note that one of the Brutes is located in a tower that you get to from a series a ramps. When all four are gone, a new path opens up, so take it and avoid the cars while in the tunnel. You'll meet up with Neftin and the others, and it will be time for the final boss. Make sure you have full ammo and feel free to upgrade your weapons if you want. If you have any armor available to buy, do so. .-----------------------. ======| BOSS: Nether Leader | '-----------------------' This is the final boss of the game and it isn't too challenging, although it can be long. For the first phase of the battle, it only has a few attacks. One is pounding the ground with one of its claws three times; just stay away from it. When you see it rear back, that means it's going to slam the ground once with its claw, sending out a shockwave. One last attack in this phase is a sweeping attack with its arm, which can easily be jumped over. The boss has a lot of health, so you're going to be going through your weapons, and every weapon can deal damage, even the Winterizer. Don't forget that there are weapon crates on the platform you're fighting on, so seek them out if you need ammo. Once you deal enough damage, the boss will destroy the platform and you will need to Grav-Leap from land to land while avoiding its laser. When you get to the last platform, you'll switch to Clank and be in the Netherverse. There's nothing too difficult about this one, although you will need slightly good control of the gravity changes. At the bottom of the first corridor, make the sure hazard ceiling is up, then go down and to the right underneath it. The next part requires using the block to get in the way of the lasers. The first two are easy, but be careful with the sideways ones. Push the block to block the laser, then jump over and pull it, doing the same with the one on the left side. Go the rest of the way to meet up with Vendra, who needs some help to break the barrier. The path below will lead to a Nether you can bring back to help Vendra, and it's not difficult at all. It's nothing but the bombs and two sideways- moving platforms should you change the gravity to that direction, so don't. Bring the Nether back to switch control again over to Ratchet. The second round against the Nether Leader has it still using the attacks from the previous one, as well as gaining a few new attacks. When you see it go back and then forward, with a flash of lightning, it will spawn two Nether generators, so quickly take them out. The other attack has it blocking both ends with its claws, then shooting a tracking laser with its eye. Once again, when its health reaches a certain threshold, it will destroy the platform and you'll have to Grav-Leap to the end, where you go back to Clank. This is the final and toughest Netherverse segment, with a lot of lasers and hazards. You'll need precise control over changing gravity and will need to utilize the moving platforms as cover twice. Bring the Nether back to Vendra to face off against the boss one last time with Ratchet. The Nether Leader's final phase is similar to the second, with only one new attack, which is to turn the platform upside down. All other attacks, except the triple pound, sweep and generator spawn, are used when upside down. Keep up the attacks and you'll eventually win the war of attrition with the boss' health. Congratulations! You have beaten the game! Watch the ending and try Challenge Mode for some extra fun! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |=========== ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O Q) When was Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus released? A) It was released on November 12, 2013 in North America and the following day in Europe. Q) Why isn't there a Vita version of the game?! A) I'm guessing that one might have been planned, but after the debacle with Full Frontal Assault, they either axed it or don't want to announce it yet. The fact that there is cloud saving inside of the actual game hints at it. Q) How is this game compared to the older titles? A) It's actually pretty good, especially after the last two titles. It has many similarities to the older titles, with some new gameplay systems that add a lot of fun. I would probably rate it at an 8/10.
