Introduction Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is the Wii's sequel to the popular Gamecube game of the same name (minus the subtitle), which came out a couple years ago. Although Dawn of the New World is a follow-up, the game does have a fair share of differences. First, it has two new main characters, Emil and Marta, and obviously new bad guys. The original characters from the last game do however make appearance in this one as well. Although you can only control Marta and Emil this time around, the other Tales characters will also join your party at times. Another new aspect are the monsters that yo can make pacts with and have fighting with you in your party. You can "catch" all the monsters you encounter in the game, evolve them, and level them up just like party members. Nonetheless, despite the new features, Dawn of the New World is rather small compared to the original. The game is shorter, doesn't have as much locations and side quests and has a much less epic scale. The world map is now point-and-click and there are more cutscenes than actual gameplay. Regardless, the characters are engaging and it's great to revisit the areas from the other game with a new storyline. Fans of the Tales series will be entertained. If you need further help with the game, check out the video walkthrough at youtube.com/WishingTikal Storyline The world was divided in two according to the mandate of heaven , but was restored to its former self by the Chosen of Regenaration. In place of the Giant Kharlan Tree that had been destroyed in ancient times, a new World Tree was born. With the reunited new world came the birth of new chaos. Before the world was restored, the world of Tethe'alla was prosperous, while the world of Sylvarant was in decline. This gap in civilization only brought division among the people as time went on. Characters Emil He lost his parents in the Blood Purge that occured in Palmacosta. He has a straightforward personality, and an innocence that leads him to believe anything he's told. Generally a coward, he's not succesful in anything that requires a great force of will. Richter Richter is the first "friend" Emil makes over at Luin. He is a mysterious stranger who shows up in town looking for a girl. Emil decides to help him out and Richter becomes is mentor of sorts. He is harsh and cold, but has good advice for Emil. Marta Marta is a girl who lost her mother when the Great Tree rampaged throughout the world. Dtermined and unafraid to make her voice known, she is not satisfied unless she can think of things in absolutes. She hates Colette, who killed her mother; and Lloyd, who attacked Palmacosta. Tenebrae A being shrouded in darkness, Tenebrae is one of the Centurions that accompany the Summon Spirit Ratatosk. Tenebrae's personality is calm and collected, but he also likes jokes and can be rather gregarious; showing that he has a human side. Alice Alice is a eighteen-year old member of the Vanguard who acts like a little kid. Marta refers to her as the "sadist". She is always after Marta, who really hates her with a passion. Decus Decus is a member of the Vanguard as well. He is full of himself and blindly thinks all the girls should be after him. Though he looks friendly at first sight, he is without pity. FAQ Q: How do I get the good ending? A: At the beginning of the game, don't pledge to Lloyd (not a big deal if you do though -- you can still get it if you do the other two things right). At Triet Ruins, don't leave and re-enter the dungeon more than 5 times. At the Temple of Lightning, don't get hit by lightning more than 13 times. At the end of the game, don't fight 'your friends' (can't name them yet ;) ) Q: How do I evolve monsters? A: Visit any Katz stand and choose 'Cooking'. Feed the monster that can evolve (it will have a special icon next to its name) the food that it likes and then it will ask if you want to evolve it. A monster can only evolve a few times, then it will revert back to its first form, so save your game before evolving your monsters, just in case you make a mistake. Walkthrough ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1 : World in Discord _______________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Luin (If you want to get the good ending, don't pledge to Lloyd at the fountain; but if you do, don't worry, you can still get it if you don't mess up later) After getting out of bed, head out of the room to have a chat with Emil’s mom. Leave the house afterwards and head down to hear the mysterious howl again. Proceed west to the town’s fountain. On your way you’ll notice all the water has evaporated from the lake. At the fountain, you’ll meet Richter for the first time. After the scene, ask around to find him again. He’s standing east of town near the church. Talk to him, then head back to the fountain for another scene at the town entrance. Exit to the world map and enter Lake Shinoa Cave. Before you even get to make a few steps, you’ll be attacked by an enemy. Just try fighting him with what you have now until the fight automatically interrupts. Marta will come to your rescue and help you defeat the foe. After the battle, return to Luin. Head over to the mayor’s place to find Richter. He’s upstairs the shop left of the church in the east part of town. After the talk, head back out to Lake Shinoa Cave. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Lake Shinoa Cave Before going to the cave, head left to find a shipwreck. Look behind it on the right to find a chest hidden there. There’s a Life Bottle inside. Now head over to the cave and watch the scene. Once inside, head forward through the gate. Richter will have you fight a monster for practice. You don’t have any moves yet, so just defeat it normally following the instructions. Continue forward after the fight to get another scene with more explanations. Proceed to a branching path and head down right to find a chest at the end containing 300 Gald. Head back up to the save point for another scene. After the scene, head up to meet up with Tenebrae. Now you’ll finally be able to use artes. Follow the tutorial in the fight up ahead against Aqua’s minion. After the battle, head through the door ahead for another scene. The gate ahead is sealed, but you can now use the Sorcerer’s Ring to find another way in. Before doing that however, return to the save point and go right from there into a path that seems like a dead-end. Examine the shiny object on the wall and point the wiimote at it (then press A) to use the Sorcerer’s Ring and reveal a switch under the moss. Press the switch to open a door in the wall. Follow the new path and at the end you’ll find a chest containing Mittens. Now go back to the sealed gate and head right from there until Tenebrae stops you for another tutorial. Forge a pact with the monster as instructed to get the Imp in your party. You’ll have to forge a pact with the incoming Wolf as well. Once this is done, head up and follow the path until you find another switch in the wall. Use the ring to uncover it and open another secret entrance in the wall. Head down the middle path to find a chest containing Apple Gel at the end. Head through the right path to find another switch to reveal with the ring. At the end of the passageway you’ll find Cape in a chest. Now head down the south path to find Richter. After the scene, head back down and through the gate. Continue down to find Aqua and get her help. Head back up to see Richter with Aqua. Continue north and save your game at the save point. Go through the gate to find Lloyd and Marta ahead. You’ll engage in a fight against Lloyd that you can’t win. Just let him kill you. After the ensuing scene, pick up Lloyd’s Mask 1 laying on the ground at the left of the altar. Now you need to find a way to get out. First examine the gate from where you came to find out it’s locked. Head back up and examine the paper on the wall at the right of the exit. Marta wil make a comment about it. Use the ring to burn it down and find a switch behind. Press it to open the door. On the other side, open the chest on the right to get Bandanna. Now head up the stairs and leave the cave for once. You’ll end up in the Tower of Mana site. Leave the area, after getting the Cocoon (Tenemil in PS3 version) in the chest on the left, and the Red Ribbon in the chest north of the exit. When you’re done picking up everything, head out to the world map and return to Luin. On the way, Tenebrae and marta will stop to explain some things to Emil. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Luin After the scene, head over to the mayor’s house. You’ll be stopped by members of the Vanguard. Battle them off, then head to the town’s entrance to leave. You can’t leave by the one at the right of Emil’s house though, so you’ll need to go to the fountain west of there. You’ll be stopped by the Vanguard there too. Watch the lenghty cutscene, during which you’ll fight off some Vanguard soldiers. You’ll then battle the commander with Marta’s help. Once all that is over, go back to the other town entrance and speak with the twins there. Go to the mayor’s house afterwards for another scene. Head upstairs to speak with him, then exit by the town entrance next to Emil’s house. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 : Troubled Heart _______________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Asgard From the world map, head to Asgard, which has been assaulted by terrible winds. Walk into the town following the main road until a cutscene ensues. After that scene, enter the mine on the left and examine the giant white cup at the left of the man inside to find the Wonder Chef for the Grill recipe. Now it’s time to pay a visit to the mayor of this town. Head over to the east part of the village and go up the stairways to the top house. After the cutscene, head to the Mural Cavern, which is located upstairs near the entrance. After the cuscene, head back outside to see Alice for the first time. You now need to find Colette, who’s in the east part of town, in the house at the top of the first stairway on the right. After the discussion, head back downstairs to find Marta. Return to the west part of town where another event will occur. Run left to go help the kid, just when Alice shows up again. Defeat Hawk and the monsters in the ensuing battle, then Marta will want to see Colette again. Return to the house at the very top of the east part of town, the mayor’s house which was locked before. Inside, speak with Colette and the mayor. Now go back to the west part and head through that metal gate that wouldn’t open previously. Head up the stairway to the stone dais. You’ll be attacked here, so make sure everyone is healed first. You can’t defeat the enemy just yet, but you’ll have to stay alive until the fight is interrupted. Your next destination is Hima, where you’re expected to find a winged dragon. Head back to the world map and select Hima. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Hima Once you get there, enter the inn. On the first floor, you can go through a door on the right (behind the dog) which leads to an adjacent room with a fireplace. Examine the white rock next to the stairs to find the Wonder Chef for the Stew recipe. Now head up for the top of the mountain. You’ll get attacked by a giant Imp. Defeat it, then watch the scene and head back down the mountain. Return to the world map and re-enter Asgard. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Asgard When you’re ready, return to the stone dais beyond the metal gate. Now you’ll need to play a little mini-game. Avoid the wind gusts by moving around while trying to collect some treasure chests if you want extra items. Once you get the indication to, start to signal by waggling the wiimote around until the bar fills up completely. Then get ready to face the bird once and for all. It’s a pretty hard fight for I personally prefer controlling Marta for this one as you can freely heal everyone once their HP goes down. Keep everyone healed, use items and you should be fine. After the scene, Colette will propose you talk to Aisha’s brother. Go back to the east part of house and enter the second house to the top to speak with Linar. Once you’re done, head over to the inn where the others are waiting for you. When Tenebrae is done explaining everything to Colette, go back to the stone dais again. You’ll need to fight off the boss once again. This is the same battle as previously, so just repeat the same as before. Marta will afterwards perform the maiden ritual so you can warp to the next dungeon. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Underground Ruins As you enter and after the cutscene ahead, pay attention to the bells ringing in the hallway on your left. Retain the order in which they ring, then head to the room northeast of there with a save point. Examine the pedestal in the center of the room and touch it to change the Sorcerer’s Ring to wind element. Now take a look at the wall on the left, which looks different from the others. Use the ring on it with the wind attribute to make it crumble and reveal bells behind. Now you’ll need to use the ring on the bells in the same order as the bells at the entrance were ringing (from the left - first, third, second, last). This will open another wall, revealing a stairway. Go downstairs to the next floor. To go through the next part, and if you’ve tried you’ve probably found yourself just running in circles, you’ll need to pass through the doors in a particular manner. The inscription at the entrance tells you to go through the door that is always the farthest. So, from the entrance, head all the way right, ignoring the first door. Head through the rightmost door at the end of the hallway, after defeating the enemy guarding it. Then go all the way up and then left to find a chest with Poison Charm. Don’t go through the door nearby though. Instead go back down and go left. Head through the door guarded by the enemy north of there, but first make sure to also get the chest with Sage just to the left of that door. After going through this door, go up and left and follow the path down to find a chest with Slough. Then, go all the way to the right and go up to fight the enemy guarding the door here. Head through the door, then head left and defeat the enemy guarding the passageway. Head downstairs to the next area. Here, follow the passage and examine the inscription on the wall at the end to receive Arrows. Now head over to the center of the room for a cutscene. Head up from there and on the right you should find a statue of a woman. Examine it to place the arrows on it. Now what you must do here is check all inscriptions on the walls around the room to find out the order in which the arrows should be shot. Go to the control panel in the center of the room after placing the arrows and select different orders for different results. «South-south-east» will raise a bridge on the left so you can get the chest with Opal. «North-north-west» will raise a bridge on the right so you can get the chest with Silk Cloak. «East-south-east» will raise the bridge leading to the exit. In the next section, you’ll step on a tile that will open a gate ahead. Before taking care of that, head all the way right and go up to find a chest with Ink in the middle and a chest with Seal Charm at the end of the path. When you’re ready, step on the tile to open the gate and go all the way right. Head up a bit, then go left and start proceeding north going against the wind. Avoid the gusts coming at you until you reach the gate before it closes. You’ll now need to face the boss, Ventus. What works best against him are Emil’s sky combos. You can equip these skills from the menu screen. If you keep on attacking him with attacks that sends him in the air, he won’t have time to attack back. If you don’t have the skills yet, level-up some more. After you defeat him, return all the way back to the entrance and leave the underground. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Asgard Before leaving, go back to see the mayor in the house at the top of the residential area. After talking to him, Colette will depart on her side. Leave the town and select the new location on the world map, Hakonesia Peak. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Hakonesia Peak After the scene as you enter the new area, head down and examine the grey object behind the man crouching down on the left by the fence to find the Wonder Chef for the Rice Bowl recipe. Then enter the house on the right and talk to Koton for another scene. When you’re done, head down to the world map and enter Palmacosta. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Palmacosta After the scene, head up to the building in the top-right corner to meet up with Richter. After that other scene, head over to the west and enter the pub in the second screen. Talk to Marta inside, then return to the first screen. Enter the building in the top-left corner and speak with the woman inside. Head back outside for another scene. Before leaving town, go east to the second screen and enter the first building on your right. Head up to the second floor and examine the briefcase in the corner to find the Wonder Chef for the Sandwhich recipe. Now leave town and go to the Dynasty Ruins. You can also head over to Luin for an extra cutscene. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Dynasty Ruins After the cutscene, head into the left path to find a chest with Thunder Cape. Then head into the right path all the way to the end to find a chest with Lizard Skin. Go up and left from there for a chest containing White Mittens. Return to the entrance and go right. Examine the pedestal to change the Sorcerer’s Ring to light element, then proceed up the long stairway ahead for a cutscene. You’ll find Thomas, but you’ll also need to fight Alice. She isn’t that hard to defeat, but make sure to take her down first as she will heal herself and the monster with her. After defeating Alice, head right to a locked gate. Make sure you changed the Sorcerer’s Ring to the light attribute at the entrance. Light up one of the globes on the side of the gate with the ring to open it. Go in for yet another scene. Afterwards, head down the nearby south stairway and push the block here into the water on the right. Go back up and head down the other stairway to the right. Ignore the first ladder and continue right to another ladder at the end of the path. Climb it up to find a globe on the wall up there. Light it with the ring to change the flow of water. Then run back all the way left and go down the small ladder at the end. Continue left and return to where you pushed the first block. Head down from there and go right. Since you pushed the block in the water and changed the direction of the water, the block should now create a bridge so you can cross. You’ll find another block ahead. Push it down once AND THEN LEFT into the water. Now run back left all the way to the end of the path. The flow should carry the block to the left. Wait for the block to make a bridge for you to cross at the end and get the two chests there containing Life Bottle and 2,500 Gald. Now go back upstairs to where you started. Head down the stairway on the right, then climb up the small ladder and continue all the way right until you find a block covered in moss. Run up to the right to find a pedestal at the end. Examine it to change the Sorcerer’s Ring back to fire element. Go back down to the block and use the ring on it to burn the moss. Then push the block south into the water below. Head back up and change the ring back to light element. Go left from where the block was and light up the globe on the wall to change back the flow of the water. The block below will move and create a bridge on the left. Now light the globe again to change the flow once again. Proceed left and return to the beginning. Head down back to the bottom level and go all the way right. Head up for a chest with the Long Sword in the corner, then head back down and cross the new bridge on the right. Continue all the way to the end and go through the door after getting the chest with Leather Cape on the left. You’ll come out in a new room. After the scene, go all the way left to find a chest with Gothic Spinner. Head down to the second platform and go all the way right to find a chest with Sturdy Bandanna at the end. When you’re ready, save your game and head down to the center. You’ll be attacked by the boss. That one isn’t as hard as previous ones as it has no minions with him. After defeating it, you’ll get swallowed and wake up on the beach on the other side of the ocean. Once the cutscene is over, you’ll be back on the world map. Select Iselia as your next destination. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 : Footfalls of Tomorrow _______________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Iselia After the scene at the entrance, head over to the northwest part of the village to find the mayor’s house at the left of the school. Once you’re done talking with the mayor, leave the village and head for the Martel Temple on the world map. Enter the temple at the top of the stairway and speak with the dwarf inside. After that, head back to Iselia. Your next destination is now the Human Ranch. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Iselia Human Ranch On your way, you’ll get attacked by a large bird enemy. Defeat it, then you’ll enter the ranch, which is covered by thick fog. First, head right and you’ll get the option to jump onto a ledge on the wall. Climb up the cliffs and open the chests at the top for Melange Gel on the left and 3000 Gald on the right. Head back down and proceed through the opening in the middle. You’ll face off a weak enemy during the cutscene. Once that’s done, head into the ranch. Right in front of it in the middle, pick up the Card Key 1 on the ground. Then head right and go down the ladder in the corner. Once inside and after the cutscene, examine the pedestal in the top-right corner of the room to change the Sorcerer’s Ring to blue lightning element. Then look on the left in the next room to find a door that won’t open because it doesn’t have enough power. To power it up, use the ring on the two globes on each side of the door. Go through and head left. Open the first door in the hallway by pressing the little button next to it. Inside, open the chest to get Wind Cape. Return to the hallway and head all the way left, going through the door at the end. You’ll be in a flooded room. Go left and pick up the Elevator Key on the ground. Go back to the hallway and go through the first door on your right after opening it. Turn on the switch on the wall at the back and then return to the first room with the save point, avoiding the lasers on the way. From there, head north, then right and down to find an elevator. It’s not activate, so you’ll need to activate it first. To do so, use the ring to light up the globe next to it. Then use the elevator and go down to Basement Level 3. After the scene here, go to the right corner of the room where the two NPCs are standing. On their left, touch the control panel to open a door up above. Now go left and ride up the green platform. Change the direction of the green panel on the right, then ride back the platform which will go left this time. Here, go to the blue panel at the back and change the direction. Head upstairs and ride the blue platform to the right. Change the direction on the blue panel here, then ride the platform again which should go down this time. Change the direction on the panel here too, then ride the platform to the right. Close the valve next to the purple panel, then return all the way back to the start. From where the two NPCs are, go south in the opposite corner to find a ladder which you can now climb down since some of the water was drained from the room. After climbing down the ladder, push the block that is floating above the water on the right. It will lodge itself between pipes on the other side. Once that is done, close the valve on the left to drain some more water. Now go back all the way to valve #1. Change the direction on the purple panel here, then ride down the purple platform. Go right and walk on the pipe along the wall. Head down all the way and push the block down there to complete the path on the other side. Now go back to the purple platform and climb down the ladder there. Ride the white platform to the left, then close the third valve to lower the water. Go down the ladder here and open the chest in the south corner for Scale Gauntlets. Climb back up and re-open the valve. Ride back the white platform, then climb up the ladder and change the direction on the white panel on your right. Climb back down the ladder and ride the white platform again, this time up. Now go left and examine the contol panel to open another door above. Continue left to find a chest at the end with Flower Petals. Head back right and head up the stairs. Ride up the blue platform, then ride the one on the left to find a chest with Pineapple Gel. Go back to the previous platform and change the direction on the panel on the right, then ride the right platform. Change the direction of the yellow panel, then ride the yellow platform. Next, ride down the purple platform and examine the control panel here to open another door. Ride back up, change the direction of the purple panel, ride to the right, change the panel here too, then ride down and open the chest for Lizard Skin. Change the purple panel so that the direction shows two arrows pointing up, then ride the platform all the way up. Enter the door here. You’ll find yourself in a room with electric barriers blocking your way. To deactivate them, you’ll need to lure monsters into them. To do so, position yourself facing a barrier and, with the sorcerer's ring, shoot a nearby enemy to lure him towards you, through the barrier. You can shoot diagonally to lure them through. Once the enemy steps into the barrier it will go down. Do that will all the colored barriers so they’re all gone (if you’re not sure how, check the video walkthrough; link at top of the FAQ). Get the chest at the top of the room for White Mittens, then go right and activate the door by lighting up the globe next to it. Go through to the room ahead and pick up the Card Key 3 on the left. Also open the chest for Chamomile. Go back to the previous room and open the door on the left. Inside the room open the chest for Silver Cloak. Go back and open the other door on the left by lighting the globe on the other side. Open the next door on the left again and go through to the final room. Defeat the boss, which isn’t all that hard, then return to Iselia with Raine. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Iselia First thing, head over to the school and wait for Raine in the classroom. After the cutscene, head out of the school and start looking for Marta. She’s over by the pound at Raine’s house, south of the mayor’s house. Go find her, then return to the school and speak with Raine by the window in the classroom. Next, head over to the north house in the east part of the village (Colette's house) to talk to Pepe. When you’re ready, head up to the north entrance of the village. After the scene, proceed to the world map and select Triet Ruins. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Triet Once you get there, watch the scene and enter the ruins by the door at the back behind all the rumble. You’ll meet up with Genis inside. You won’t be able to proceed forward for now because of the large monster blocking the way, so head back to the world map and enter Triet. Head over to the north section after the scene and proceed to the oasis. Now you’ll need to fish out a monster from one of the holes in the ice. Just choose any hole, then watch the bar on the right of the screen and pull the wiimote backwards when it passes into the green zone and flashes. You’ll have to be right on time to get it. Once it’s done, you’ll need to fight the monster before taking it with you. Return to Triet Ruins once everything is said and done. Head inside the ruins and watch the scene as you get rid of the monster. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Triet Ruins *Note: don't leave and re-enter this dungeon more than 5 times you want to get the good ending -- although I don't know why anyone would...) Once you regain possession of Emil after the cutscene, head north and left around the column to find a treasure chest containing Pineapple Gel. Then leave the door on the right and back in the entrance hallway, head up all the way and go through the door on the left. Go up and left to find a block. Pull and push it right, then down. Lastly, push it right into the gap left of the other block already in place. Cross over the blocks and turn on the switch on the wall to lower a platform somewhere else. Now return to the entrance hallway and this time take the south path all the way to the end and open the chest there for Water Cape. Then go through the door on the right and turn on the switch up the stairs in the room to lower another platform where you were just before. Go back to the entrance hallway and all the way north to the opposite side of the hallway, just where you came form previously. Re-enter the room from before and take the new path where the platform lowered. Turn on the switch here, then go up the stairs on the right and push down the block at the end. Now go back to the entrance hall once more and this time go through the middle door where you first started. Head forward and cross over the block you just pushed down. Turn on the switch to raise the platform and watch the scene up above. After it, go south and open the chest for Broadsword. Then go left for two more chests with Half Gauntlets and Black Ribbon. Stand in the blue circle back there to warp to another part of the ruins. Examine the wall at the back of the room to access a new area. Here, head up the stairways and open the chest at the top for Stone Block. Head back down and save your game at the save point. Proceed forward for a cutscene before the boss. After the battle, pick up Lloyd’s Mask 2 on the ground. Now leave the temple from where you came. After all the scenes, go back to the world map and select Izoold. On the way, your party will stop for a firecamp. In the meantime you’ll have to fight a Jabber which is a piece of cake, then you'll fight an angry dragon which is a bit harder. After the battles, you’ll start a new chapter and finally enter Izoold. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4 : Light and Darkness _______________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Izoold As you enter Izoold, the team will notice it smells like burnt fish. Head over to the harbor to the east to learn more from a fisherman. Afterwards, go right and get into the small boat next to the dock. Examine the fish at the extremity to find the Wonder Chef for the Sashimi recipe. Now go left and talk to the sailor on the other side of the harbor. He’ll inform you that no ships are leaving port currently. First, head north from the port and speak to the man in front of the prison. After speaking with Regal inside, head back to the west part of the village and enter the house on the right of the Katz Guild. Talk to the man in bed there. Your next objective is to bring back rosemary to save him. Before getting to the next destination, you can stop by the mayor’s house in Iselia for an extra scene. Also enter the mayor’s house and examine the boat inside to find the Wonder Chef for the Soup recipe. When you’re ready, head for the Camberto Caves from the world map. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Camberto Caves After the scene, go left and follow the path going up to get a chest containing Haunting Sword. Return to the entrance and go up until you see a giant mushroom. Use the Sorcerer’s Ring on it to burn it down and fight the enemy coming from it. You can now step on the mushroom. Go left and examine the pedestal to change the Sorcerer’s Ring to water element. Enter the cave and watch the scene ahead. After that, go to the far left end of the path and use the Sorcerer’s Ring with water element on the orange flower floating above the water. It will start spinning and change the water flow. Head up the slope on the right and cross the wooden footbridge. Use the ring on the flower bud at the extremity to awaken the flower. Head down following the new flower and use it to cross the water on the left as it lays there. After crossing, go left and down to the corner and use the ring on the orange flower in the bottom-left section of the screen to change the water flow once more. Now return to the flower bud and use the ring on it a second time to pop out another flower which will go down the other route. Go back to the second orange flower and cross where the new flower makes bed. Follow the path to the next section which has a log that you can move around. Use the ring on the small purple flowers on the right to move the log right. Cross it and at the end of the path you’ll find a chest containing Demonic Spinner. Go back to where the log is and use the ring on the flowers on the left to move it left. Cross and head over to the next part which has another log to move around, but more complicated this time. First, use the ring on the flower to the right. Cross the log, then use the ring on the flower that is the closest to you on the other side. Cross the second log, then use the ring on the flower on the island to the north to move a third log to the left. Cross, then use the ring on the flower to the left to move a fourth log up. Now finally cross to the other side. Watch the scene, then open the chest south of there to get Mystic Cloak. Go through the opening on the left first and save your game in the next area. Follow the path to the right to find the rosemary at the end, after a few scenes. However, you’ll need to return here with some sort of sunlight... Hm. Head back to where you opened the treasure chest and go through the other top opening. Cross the new area following the path to the right, but go down when you come to a fork to find a chest containing Battle Gauntlets. Continue to the right until you emerge in another area next to a pedestal. Examine it to change the ring to light element. Now head back on your steps all the way to where you found the rosemary. Use the ring with the light element on it. You’ll get attacked by a monster; defeat it, then watch the scene and leave the Camberto Caves. Just return to where you changed the ring to light element and head down. Step on the switch to lower the bridge and continue south to reach the exit. Go back to Izoold next. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Izoold Head back to the house where the man in bed is to use the rosemary on him. After that, go back to the prison to save Regal. After the scenes, speak with Berg outside the prison, then head back to the west part of the village and speak with a fully dressed up Regal left of the Katz Guild. Next, go to the harbor for another scene. Before leaving town, Emil and friends decide to stay and investigate the fires. Now you must go speak with all villagers where fires occured. The first is the little boy next to the house on the docks, the second is the fisherman next to the boat on the opposite side of the docks. Third is the man at the entrance of town and last, the man you saved earlier who is currently on the beach area. Once you’ve talked to these four persons, a scene will automatically ensue. After that, re-enter the house of the man you saved. Talk to him inside to receive the Special Bait. Now you must return to Triet to catch some jellyfish with it. Head over to the oasis and repeat the process from last time to catch one. Once you have it return to Izoold and give it to the man so he can prepare seafood gels for you. Go to the harbor to lure the light-frog with the gels. Now you’ll need to defeat it. It isn’t a hard fight in itself, but the frog will keep on healing itself during the fight if you don’t attack it continuously, making the fight a lot harder than it really is. If you can't make it, level up to LV30 to learn a skill called SPECIAL and equip it in the menu. During the battle, use the arte Dark Radiance and keep holding the button after the attack (never let go of it once you press it) to activate a Mystic Arte which should one-hit kill the frog (if you brought it down to half its HP prior to this). After the battle, you have two options; you can head directly to Flanoir by boat, or you can take on an optional dungeon. I’d recommend doing the dungeon for now, since it’s now or never. If you want to skip that part, just talk to the sailor to take the ship to Flanoir. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- (Optional Quest) To start this quest, first head over to Hakonesia Peak. Emil will spot Richter. Choose to go talk to him and watch the ensuing cutscene. Head back outside to talk to Marta, then go to Asgard. Once Marta is gone, go to the inn and head upstairs. Enter the left room and speak with Richter. Next, go to the east part of town and enter the house where you met Colette the first time. Speak with Linar, the guy with the green shirt. Now head to the dais stone (where you fought the boss) for another scene. You can now warp into the Undergound Ruins from the stone. Inside, your objective is to open the mysterious gate at the end of the first hallway. To do so, you’ll need to first examine the statue in the middle hallway on the right. Press the switch behind it, then return to the entrance to check the bells. The order in which they ring will have changed; retain it, then go to the room with the save point and change the Sorcerer’s Ring to wind. Now use the ring on the bells on your left in this order (from the left: third, fourth, second, first). You’ll get a message that something moved faraway. Now return to the gate and it should open as you approach. Behind it, use the warp to access a new dungeon. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Balacruf Mausoleum After the scene, head down left, save, and enter the new dungeon. The goal inside is to light up the torches around with the Sorcerer’s Ring so you can read the inscriptions on the walls, which will give you clues for a puzzle later on. However the strong wind prevents the torches from staying lit, so you’ll need to push blocks in front of the wind to stop it. I’ll leave that up to you, since I’m going to give you the solution for the puzzle anyway, so you can skip that part altogether. To walk over the spikes at the entrance, you must WALK slowly over them (not run). Just head directly to the very end of the dungeon for a chest with Blue Lavender, then head up the stairway and light up the two torches on each side of the door to open it. Head back down the stairs and examine the pedestal below the stairway to change the Sorcerer’s Ring to wind element. Go back up and enter the next room which has five colored vents. There are three different orders in which you can blow them using the ring. 1. Blue (middle) - Red - Yellow - White - Green 2. Red - Green - Yellow - White - Blue (middle) 3. Red - Yellow - Green - White - Blue (middle) First one opens a wall with a chest containing Heal Mark. Second opens a wall with a chest containing Mystic Mark. Third one opens the door ahead. If you need to reset the vents, just leave and re-enter the room. Don’t go through the door here yet; you should return here way later in the game when you’re stronger. The boss ahead is too tough right now, instead go stand on the platform with the middle vent and use it to go down into the basement area. Here, you’ll need to push the blocks around so you can access the tombstone at the end. There are also a couple of chests to get around as well. Go right first, then up all the way, and left. Pull the block right, then go down the stairway. Pull the block north, then go around to the right to retrieve the two chests containing Blue Chamomile and Thief's Cape on the left. Then go left and pull the block to the right. Go back to the entrance and this time go north all the way and left to get the chest with All-Divide. Head north again and pull the last block to the left, then go around to the right to get the chest holding Boots. Examine the tombstone at the top, fight off the enemy, then after the scene, leave the dungeon and return to Asgard. Now go to the mayor’s house at the top of the town’s east part to pick up Marta. Your next destination is Triet. While Marta goes to the fortune teller, choose to see Richter. Go to the inn and, before seeing Richter, head upstairs and enter the second room on the right. Examine the pink squid behind the bed to find the Wonder Chef for the Curry recipe. Then head back downstairs and enter the room at the back on the first floor to find Richter. He will take you to the Camberto Caves. Guide him to where you found the Rosemary. After the scene, you’ll be back in Iselia. Head over to Colette’s house in the east part of the village for another scene. Richter will then take you back to Triet. Go left into the merchants area to find Marta. Now that the optional quest is over, you can return to Izoold and take the ship to Flanoir. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Flanoir When you arrive at Flanoir, the townspeople have been attacked. Head right and up to watch a scene. Continue left afterwards and upstairs for another scene with Regal. Now head for the church in the upper part of town to meet up with Decus for the first time. Afterwards, head back to the town entrance for one last scene. A villager will give you Water Spider. On the world map, select Temple of Ice. The snow is gone! After spotting Raine and Genis at the entrance, walk up to them. Once the scene is over, return to Flanoir and enter the Accessories shop (where Regal was standing previously). After talking to the owner and before leaving, return to the church and examine the stool on the left to find the Wonder Chef for Gratin recipe. Now you can finally go to the Temple of Ice. ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Temple of Ice First, walk up to the frozen root for a scene. Then, head up the river on the left by jumping from stone to stone until you reach the top. Enter the cave here, then once inside, head down and left to find a pedestal at the end of the path. Change the Sorcerer’s Ring to ice element, then go back up and cross the ice bridge to the right. Head up on the right and freeze the wall at the back which has droplets of water falling to create an ice block. Push down the block and place it in the gap on the left so you can reach the treasure chest containing Fire Cape. Continue down to find another wall with water droplets on the right. Freeze that one as well to create an ice block and push it to the left so yo can cross the water. Go left and examine the water gush. Try to freeze it to engage a cutscene. You’ll be equipped with the Water Spider automatically. You can now walk on water, so proceed noth and open the chest on the left for Mystic Cloak. Continue north to the next room to watch a scene. After the scene, proceed forward to the next part and save your game on the left. Go through the large gate ahead and walk up to the altar for another scene. You’ll obviously be attacked by a boss here. After defeating it, look on the right in this room to find a chest containing Light Gauntlets. Leave the room for another cutscene where you’ll need to fight off Vanguard soldiers. After that, make sure to save your game again, then proceed right to the next area where you’ll watch yet another scene and battle against Aqua's servants. Defeat them to finally regain control of your characters and end the cutscene. Open the treasure chest on the right for Light Plate, then examine the totem pole nearby once to have a window pop up, then examine it a second time to move it once. Head upstairs on the left until you get to another totem pole and lose Sheena. Examine the totem to move it once. Head downstairs past the locked gate to find another totem pole and watch another scene. Examine the totem twice to move it and open the gate. Grab the treasure chest behind for 3,000 Gald. Before moving on, proceed left all the way to the end of the path to find a chest with Gold Spinner. Go back to the gate to access the last room. Open the chest for Melange Gel, then save and go right for a cutscene. After that, head out of the temple (after a few more scenes) and return to Flanoir. Talk to the man in front of the Accessories shop, then speak with the owner inside. Head out to the world map for a new destination, Meltokio. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 5 : Truth Behind the Mask _______________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________ ----------------------------- Meltokio
First thing first, head for the item shop which is located in the west of the
city, to the left of the entrance. As you get close, a man will come out of the
shop. After the short scene, talk to the store owner standing next to the
shop. Before going to the next place, look behind the item shop building,
in the corner of the street to find a small plane which is in fact the Wonder
Chef for the dessert recipe. Now head up the large stairway in the middle of
the city to find Alice. Deafeat her two minions in a not too hard battle,
then head back out to the world map and enter the Temple of Darkness.

___________________________________________
-----------------------------
Temple of Darkness

As you enter, head over to the right all the way to the end to find a chest
containing Melange Gel. Then head down the lighted up path in the center and
look on both the left and right side for two more chests containing 3,000
Gald and Lamia Hair’s Tie. In the next room, first go right for yet another
chest with Lemon Gel. Go back left to the opening you just came from and
notice the lamp on the side of the door. Use the Sorcerer’s Ring on it to
light it up. You must do that with all of them. Continue left to find
another one, then head south to find a chest with Mimic Fragment. North of
this chest, there’s a block statue with green eyes. Push it into the wall,
then go back up and head down the stairway on the right to trigger a
cutscene.

After the scene, go left where the Katz and traveller are and light the lamp.
Push the blue eyed statue below them into the wall, then go back right and
light the lamp there. On the right of the lamp, go into the alcove behind the
wall to find a hidden chest with Sleep Charm. South of the previous lamp,
light another lamp, then return to the Katz and pull out the block statue.
Cross using the block, then light up the lamp on the right and the one south
of there. The last lamp is located right underneath the path you’re
standing on. Light it up and a door will open at the entrance. Before
proceeding, continue to the right to find a chest with Life Bottle at the end
of the path. Now return to the entrance of this room and go right to find the
new opening in the wall. Proceed to the next room.

Head down the long staircase and grab the chest on the left for Quality Stone,
then go through the door at the bottom. Light up the two lamps on the side of
the stairs here to open another door somewhere, then leave the room and head
back up the long staircase. From the third window in the wall next to the
staircase you should spot light coming from. Examine the openning to go
through it and change the Sorcerer’s Ring to darkness element at the pedestal.
Now return to the room at the top of the stairway, the one with all the lamps.
Go back down to where Emil heard sounds behind the wall and head down the
slope on the right. Use the Sorcerer’s Ring on the dark fog blocking the way
to get rid of it. Go down and get rid of the rest of the fog. Proceed north
and head down the path on the right to a new room.

Head down the stairway, then at the fork in the path go left and open the chest
for Life Bottle (Tenemart in PS3 version). At the next fork, go south to
collect Weak Charm from another chest. Go back to the intersection and head
right to collect 2,500 Gald. Head back again and go north this time. Head
down the stairways, then a cutscene will ensue. Afterwards, continue all the
way left to find a save point and a chest containing Pineapple Gel. Save your
game, then head down the next two stairways. Examine the altar at the back
to engage a switch. Now return to the large room with all the lamps. Check
out the wall where Emil heard the sounds earlier to find out it has openened
to a secret passage. Head down the new passageway all the way to the end to
find Richter. You don’t need to win the fight ahead so just let yourself be
beaten and spare your items. When Emil wakes up, head upstairs to find Marta.
Now exit the temple to meet back up with Regal and return to Meltokio.

Meltokio

Head up the large stairway in the center all the way to the upper part of the
city and go right to the rich area. Enter the second house on the right,
Zelos’ mansion. Leave the house after the cutscene, then head back down the
stairway to the entrance of town to meet up with Zelos. After that, return
to Zelos’ mansion. Talk to the butler for a cutscene. Next, you’ll need to
go talk to the king so head left to the castle and speak with the guards so
they let you through. After all the dialogue, head back out and return to
the world map. Proceed to Cape Fortress.

___________________________________________
-----------------------------
Cape Fortress

Before entering the fortress, head up the stairway behind the entrance and grab
Fragrant Wood from the treasure chest. Go inside after that and head
downstairs for a cutscene. Look behind the stairway you just came down from to
find a hidden chest with Animus. Continue to the right and head upstairs. Get
the chest at the back for Light Bandanna, then continue left to the end of the
path for a chest with Holy Cloak. Now get to the next room from the path
south of the previous chest. Go through the first doorway and collect 3,000
Gald from the chest in this room. Leave the room and continue right for
another cutscene. Head up the flight of stairs to the right and grab the
Stone Charm from the chest on the right. Now you’ll need to solve a puzzle to
open the gate below.

Before messing with the colored tiles on the floor, first head all the way left
and go upstairs. Enter the door at the end of the hallway and open the chest
inside for Black Spinner. Now head back down and step on the yellow tile you
passed earlier. Head down again and down the other flight of stairs to the
south. Step on the blue tile here. Go back up and step on the green tile now
(where the yellow one was). This order of colors should open the gate
below. Go down and right. Enter the second door on your way to find a
treasure chest contaning Witch Mittens. Leave the room and continue right.
In the next room, another puzzle awaits you.

Start by changing the Sorcerer’s Ring element to water, then examine the red
inscription on the wall at the left. Press the switch on the left statue
twice and the floor will collapse under you. Get the chest down here for
Pineapple Gel, then examine the blue inscription on the wall. To leave
this place, defeat the fire enemy in the center of the room. Head back up
and get the Sorcerer’s Ring ready. Now you must extinguish the flames in
front of the statues in this particular order: bottom-left, middle-left,
middle-right, top-right, bottom-right, top-left. Go to the knight statue on
the right of the back gate and press the switch on it twice to lower the gate
below. Press it a third time and the floor will collapse. Head over to the
right and follow the path to the end to find a chest contaning Philosopher’s
Stone.

Now return to the previous room and defeat the water enemy in the center so
you can leave the place. Back above, you’ll need to extinguish the flames
once again, but in that order: middle-right, bottom-left, top-left,
bottom-right, top-right, middle-left. Go press the switch on the red statue to
the left of the gate to open it. Go through the gate finally and head down for
a cutscene. You’ll need to defeat Decus first, then Richter will attack you.
Don’t waste your time trying to battle him, just let him kill you.
Afterwards, continue to the right and go through the door for yet another
cutscene. Once everything is said and done, go right up to the abandonned
throne and take the Twisted Horn and Virus Charm from the chests on each side
of it. Now you can finally leave the fortress and return to
Meltokio.

Meltokio

Go back to Zelos’ residence for a scene, then head back out to the world map
and select the Temple of Earth. You won’t be able to enter the temple for now
though. After Emil wakes back up in Meltokio, head up to the central area of
the city for another scene with Alice. After that, go back to the world map
and select the Temple of Lightning. Once again, you can’t go in the temple
yet. Your next destination will therefore be Sybak. (The Katz’ Village is
also now open on the world map; in there examine the fire at the right of the
inn to find the Wonder Chef for the steak recipe.)

Sybak

Not much here, so head directly to the research academy west of the city. After
speaking with the researcher at the entrance, go inside and head downstairs
to the basement. On your way, examine the book laying in the hallway to find
the Wonder Chef for the Burito recipe. After watching the scene in the
basement lab, leave the research center and head for the inn near the city
entrance. Sleep there, then after waking up walk up left after leaving the
inn to find the rest of the team discussing. Afterwards, go back to the
research academy and head upstairs to the director’s room to speak with
him. Once the discussion is over, return to the city entrance. If you started
the Richter sidequest (so if you went to the Balacruf Mausoleum in Chapter 4),
you’ll see a scene with Richter here. To continue this sidequest, you
should now go back to Cape Fortress first, then do the Temple of Lightning.
If you missed the sidequest, just head for the Temple of Lightning right now
(if you haven’t started the quest, it’s too late now, sorry).

Cape Fortress

Head inside after the scene and go downstairs to meet up with Richter and Aqua.
Make your way through the fortress a second time (the colored
tiles puzle is still yellow-blue-green) up to the room with the blue and
red statues where you had to extinguish the flames in order to open a
gate. Head down on the blue knight side (right) and follow the path to the
end. Return to where you got the chest with the Philosopher’s Stone the first
time and walk up to the small note left on the ground for a cutscene.
Richter will then take you back to Meltokio. Go to the inn to meet back up
with your party. That’s all for the sidequest, so now proceed to the Temple of
Lightning for once.

___________________________________________
-----------------------------
Temple of Lightning

*Note: Don’t get struck by the lightning more than 13 times or you won’t get
the good ending.

As you enter, walk up north for a chest containning 3,000 Gald. Head left after
that and the party will find research notes on the ground. Once the little
scene is over, head up the rightmost stairway for a chest with Mirage
Mittens, then walk south of where you found the notes for a chest with
Quality Stone. Head over to the left for another chest containning Earth
Cape, then head up the northern path and examine the pedestal to change the
Sorcerer’s Ring to Blue Lightning element. That’s all for here, so head up
the middle stairway to get to the next part, which starts with a short
scene. Start by going left and get the chest in the corner for Shock Charm.
Then head up either stairway on the side. At the top, examine the structure
with the three colored lights revolving around. Your ring is set to blue
lightning, so use it on the lights and the blue one will vanish. Go back
down and in the middle of the room, use the ring on the blue light blocking
the door at the back, beyond the save point. You can now proceed to the
central room of the temple, which I will refer to as «main room» for future
reference.

The first thing you’ll need to do in this room is get rid of the water on the
bottom floor. To do so, you’ll need to head up the left stairway. But first,
check behind the stairs to find a hidden treasure chest with Striped Ribbon
inside. The stairs will take you to a dark room. Just make your way to the
top. In the next room you’ll be attacked by the Vanguard. Defeat them,
then go to the other side of the room where the Katz and merchant are
standing. Go through the door on their right, which leads to another dark
room. Head down to be back in the main room on a higher ledge. Walk over to
the structure to the left and examine it to raise the lightning rod. Now go
back all the way to the bottom floor of the main room. The water should be
gone, so you can now walk to the pedestal up the stairs to the right to change
the ring to yellow lightning. Now return to the entrance area where the save
point is. Go back up to the altar with the colored lights and use the ring
on it to make the yellow light vanish. Now only the red remains. Go down on
the left and use the ring on the yellow light blocking the door there.
Make your way through the dark room beyond and at the top get the chest with
Holy Mark.

Now return to the main room and head up on the left to be back in the room with
the Katz and merchant. In the left side of the room, use the ring on the
yellow light at the bottom to unblock the door and go through it. Head right
in the next section and climb down the ladder. Open the chest behind for
Topaz, then go to the right extremity and examine the rope to have Emil point
out the Sorcerer’s Ring might be able to reach it. However, you’ll need it to
be fire elemental, so go back to one of the pedestals to switch it back to its
original element. Return to the rope and use the ring on it to burn it down.
This will make a rod fall on top of the structure below. Before heading to it,
go back to where you raised the first lightning rod and take it down so the
lightning hits the new rod below instead. Then return to the main room and
examine the new rod on the right to start up all the devices in the temple. Go
back to a pedestal before continuing and examine it twice to change back the
Sorcerer’s Ring to yellow lightning element. Now you can return to the room
with the Katz and merchant to face a new puzzle.

To solve this puzzle, you’ll need to first destroy some of the blocks on the
back wall to create a path for the lightning using the sorcerer's ring, then
activate the machine below to start up the lightning once the path is set.
Just remember that the lightning always moves horizontally when possible, then
vertically when there is no other way to go. I'll give you some ways to
get the three chests here. First, destroy the left block (meaning the two
small cubes that compose the block) of the second row, the right block of the
third row, and the right block of the fourth row. This gives you a chest with a
Red Basil. (Don't forget to go activate the machine below to get the chest)

Then, reset the machine and start a new path. Destroy the left block of the 2nd
row, the right block of the third row, and the left block of the fourth row to
get the chest with Virus Charm. Then reset the machine and destroy the right
block of the second row and the right block of the fourth row to get another
chest with Red Basil. Reset, then finally, destroy the right AND left blocks of
the third row (so all blocks from that row) and the right block of the fourth
row to blow up the boulder blocking the way. Now go down, get all the chests,
continue down the stairs to the next screen and examine the pedestal here
to change the ring to red lightning element.

Head back to the altar at the entrance and use the ring on the remainning red
light to dispose of it. Proceed north on the altar to open a gate in the back
wall and reach a new area. Walk up to the characters ahead for a cutscene.
Afterwards, start heading up. At a higher point you’ll be able to go right at
a fork in the path, which leads to a chest with Black Sword. Equip it, then
keep going up until you get to the save point. Save your game, then walk up to
the altar for another scene and a boss fight.

After that, you must return to Sybak to speak with the director, so go back
there to talk to Scheider. On your way you’ll watch a scene with Emil and
Marta on the world map. After speaking with the director, go to Meltokio
and enter the research academy over there, which is the big mansion to the
right. Head downstairs to the basement and examine the books next to
the researcher sitting at the right for a cutscene. Afterwards, head back up,
and after a few more scenes, leave the city and go to the Temple of Earth to
find Rilena.

___________________________________________
-----------------------------
Temple of Earth

Head south first to find a chest containing Wind Cape, then head north past the
bridge and continue straight at the intersection. In the next screen, head up
the cliff to find a chest with 2,000 Gald. Now you’ll need to go down the
cliff by breaking the wooden platforms on the left. Depending on the path
you take while stomping them, you’ll get to different places and get
different chests. It’s possible to get all chests in two tries (you can climb
back up again to take a different way). For the first way, stomp the rightmost
platform first to fall down and get the chest with Chicken Bones on the right.
Break through the next three platforms, then one of the two on the right and
get the Lemon Gel from the chest east of there. Then stomp the left platform
and get Insect Fluid from the chest below. Stomp the last platform and get
Ruby in the chest on the right, then examine the pedestal to change the
Sorcerer’s Ring to earth element. After that, jump down and head over to the
right for a lone chest with Royal Gauntlets at the end.

Now go left through the door when you’re done and you’ll be back in the first
room. Return to the cliff to take the other route if you want the rest of the
chests. This time, stomp the leftmost platform to get a chest below with
Ogre’s Blood. Break the next platform and get Wyvern’s Wing from the left
chest below. Also grab Melange Gel from the chest on the right. Stomp the
platform on the left and get the Stone Charm from the next chest. Now just
break through all the platforms until you fall back down and head left to be
back in the first room. Walk up to the intersection on your right and not
too far ahead you should notice a big pile of rocks atop the cliff on the
right side of the path. Aim for it with the ring (which should be earth
elemental) and use the ring on the rocks to make it crumble (it might take a
few tries). Leave it at that for now and follow the path to the next room
which has a bridge and a chest containing Mirage Mittens just on the right.
Get that, then go stand on the bridge.

Your next step is to make the bridge fall so you can reach the area below.
First, examine the bridge so you find out it’s very unstable. Then, use the
ring in the middle of it and it should collapse. Before heading further
ahead, head backwards to the south to find a chest with Treat. Keep
following the path to the next screen and, if you make the rock pile fall
earlier, there should be a treasure box underneath contaning Dragon Spinner.
Once you got that, return to where the bridge broke and head up for a
cutscene. Afterwards, look on the left of the warp for a chest with
Pineapple Gel. Use the warp to get to the next room and walk north to the
altar for a short scene. Then go stand on the lighted up symbol in the
middle of the grid floor. You must remain standing on the floor until the
end while the tiles fall down. Avoid the shaking tiles and keep switching when
you see a stable tile go stand on it.

Before actually succeeding, purposely fall down as there are two chests in the
underground below to get containing 3,000 Gald and Melange Gel. If you
manage to stay on the floor however (try to stay in the middle), a hidden
door will appear on the right. Head for it to get to the next room. Before
going on to check on the worms ahead, make sure to get both chests on each
side for Blue Savory and Specific. When you’re ready (save your game first),
walk up to the worms. The battle ahead is one of the hardest. You’re
confronted to four foes and they have quite a lot of HP. Instead of
attacking all, try to concentrate on one at a time. After the battle, hop
into the mine kart to head to a new destination...

-----------------------------
Toize Valley Mine

Start by going right and examine the device next to the door to open it. Inside
the room, get the Light Bandanna from the chest. Go back to the entrance and
head left this time. Open the door you come across on the way to find a chest
with Life Bottle inside. Continue left to the next section. Ignore the
boulder on your right and the next boulders you find on your way; we’ll get to
that later. Continue left across the pit and climb down the ladder. Get the
chest below on the left for Elemental Fragment, then climb up the ladder on
the right, get the chest with 2,000 Gald and move on to the next part.
Continue right and you’ll come to a fork. Head down the wooden ramp on the
right and get Lemon Gel from the chest at the end of the path. Go back up and
keep heading right until you get to a new area. Here, go down and examine the
pedestal to change the ring to explode elemental.

Now you can finally blow up all those boulders you’ve come across so far.
First, head back up and cross the bridge on the right. Use the ring on the
boulder here to blow it up and open the three chests on the right for Quality
Stone, Amethyst and Sapphire. Now go back all the way to the ladder you
climbed up earlier. Climb it down and blow up the boulder on the right to
get the chest behind containing Anima. Now go back to the entrance of this
room where you saw the first boulder. Blow it up and get Mirage Cloak from the
chest behind. Return to the third room and head up at the fork in the path.
Blow up the boulder blocking the way and go down on the left. Open the
chest there for Bastard Sword, then walk south for another chest with
Animus. Continue north and blow up the last boulder in the way. Go down and
get the chest with Garnet. Now head out to the world map and watch the
cutscene before heading on to Altamira.

Altamira

Upon arrival, head straight to the Lezareno Company by taking the small wagon
there in the northwest portion of the city. Once there, take the elevator to
the president’s office to discuss serious matters. However, the town gets
attacked during the conversation, so quickly head back towards Altamira’s
entrance area. After the scene at the wagon, head over to the inn for another
cutscene. After that, head to the suite on 7F. Enter the room and watch the
scene. Head back down to the lobby on 1F after the scene, watch another one,
and head back up to the suite on 7F afterwards for yet another scene.

Leave the room after the cutscene and then finally leave the inn for good after
the next scene and after saving your game. Go to the dock / wagon for another
scene that will take you directly to the casino. Once there, head up the
elevator and enter the building. You’ll get locked up in a cell. After Regal
helps you out, go through the door to face Hawk. After the fight, you’ll face
Decus, but you don’t have to defeat him, so just let yourself be defeated
instead. Now finally leave the casino and head back to the world map after a
few events and a meeting with an old friend. Altessa’s House is your next
destination for now.

Altessa’s House

Go inside and speak with Altessa. After you hear a strange noise, return
outside to find out the enemy has been following you. The battle ahead is
pretty tough, so hope you saved before entering Altessa’s house. Once Magnar is
defeated, have a last talk with Altessa and head for Mizuho.

Mizuho

After speaking with Orochi, enter the first house of the village and examine
the small cauldron on the left to find the Wonder Chef for the Pickled
Vegetable recipe. Now head over to the small river in the center of the
village to find Raine and Genis. After the cutscene, enter the chief’s
house across the footbridge. Watch the following scene, then go see Marta who
is standing across the river in the westmost part of the village. During the
talk, the village will get attacked. Hurry back to the entrance and get
ready to fight through three consecutive battles. If you survive through
that, your next destination is back to Altamira. Just before entering the
city, a cutscene will ensue on the beach.

Altamira, Building Number Two

After Tenebrae distracts the guards and get them away from the entrance, walk
up to the inn. You’ll get back in control of Emil in the usual suite on 7F
after a cutscene. Walk out of the room and select «Basement» at the elevator.
This will get you down to Building Number 2. Examine the switch on the
wall to open the door on the right, then get the chest on your way for
Mystic Symbol. Proceed on to the next room for a cutscene. Then open the door
and move out. In the next room, head down on the right and go through the
first door on the left. Open the chest here for Mythril Mittens, then head
back out and continue left. Go through the leftmost door and defeat the
guard inside to obtain the Pass Card. Move on to the left and go to the very
end of the hallway. Open the chest here for Dark Cape, then check the wagon
for another hidden chest with Mythril Mittens. Now enter the room on the
right. Defeat the guard inside, then watch the cutscene. The party will
split.

Return to the previous room and head all the way right now that the gate is
open. Before going up the stairway, open the chest right on the side for Dusk
Bandanna. After climbing up the stairway, Alice will intercept you. Save your
game at the save point and go through the door ahead. After the cutscene(s),
you’ll find yourself in a small storage room. Open the chest on your right for
Red Sage before leaving the room, then head out and go through the first door
you come across on the left. Examine the machine in here to renew your pass
(should have gotten it earlier) to D Rank. Now return to the elevator on the
right and you should be able to now access other floors. Head up to 4F. Here
get the Orichalcum from the chest, then go left and through the first door
to find a chest with Light Cape. Then through the second door and examine the
machine inside the room to update the pass to C Rank.

Go back to the elevator and head down to 2F. Open the chest here for Sardonyx,
then go left and examine the machine in the middle of the hallway to renew
the pass to B Rank. Now go back to 1F and cross the hallway to get to the
left elevator on the other side. Open the chest here for Mythril Plate,
then head up to 3F. Get the Mythril Spinner from the chest, then go right and
enter the first room. Examine the machine in here to change the pass to A
Rank. Get back to the elevator and return to 1F. Go to the other elevator on
the right and head up to 3F. Get the Mythril Gauntlets from the chest, then
go back to 1F and back to the left elevator. Head up to 2F to grab Red
Savory from the chest, then finally head up to 4F. Go left and use the
elevator at the end of the path. Enter the next room. You must now look
for Marta in this room. Examine everything you can check in the room, and don't
forget the computer screen up the ladder. After you have checked every object,
a scene will ensue and you will find yourself in the ceiling.

Up in the shaft, check the vent on the right. After that, walk to the other
vent and climb down. Save at the save point, then go right. You’ll need to
defeat the guard there first, then enter the room ahead. After the scene, grab
the chest in the left corner with Mythril Sword, then go back out and go right
to meet back up with Rain & co. Re-arrange your party for the big battle ahead,
then once you’re ready, head upstairs and through the door to face Brute for
real this time. After the fight, use the elevator on the right to step
right in another battle. You don’t have to defeat Richter to continue, so
just try and beat him or be defeated. Watch the ensuing cutscene, then a
new chapter will start and you will wake up in the Altamira suite.

Chapter 8 : Eternal Bond

After the scene, leave the room to speak with Marta outside. Examine the toy
by the wall to find the Wonder Chef for the Omelet recipe. Now head down to
Brute’s room to see him. After that, go to the Lezareno HQ and head up to
the rooftop garden for a meeting between all of the characters. Now your
next destination is the Tower of Salvation, a new location on the world
map. After the scene here, return to the world map. Re-enter the Tower of
Salvation a second time and examine the tree again for an extra scene. That’s
all for that.

This is pretty much the end of the game, so now’s time to finish any other
matter that needs to be taken care of. The one thing you might wanna do is go
to the Communion Spring, a new location on the map. Here, talk to the priest to
gain access to the hot spring and watch some extra scenes. There are two
scenes you can see here, so after you’ve seen one, make sure to speak with the
priest again to watch the second scene. Also, on the left of the building here
you can walk on the grass where the trees are and examine the odd white tent
near the exit to find the Wonder Chef for the Fried Rice recipe. When you’re
done, head for the Martel Temple.

___________________________________________

Martel Temple

Head up and talk to Dirk, then go inside the temple. Head over to the right and
down to a room you couldn’t access before. There’s a little puzzle to solve
here, but first go left and up the stairway on the other side. At the end of
the path open the chest for Special Gel. Return to the puzzle room to get
started and engage in a fight with the Golem. After you defeat him, a
colored block will appear. Everytime you defeat the Golem, a new block will
appear of a different color. The first block should be green. Pull and push
this block into the green top-middle hole.

Defeat another Golem and a blue block will appear. Push that one down the
middle-right blue hole. Defeat a third Golem to get a red block. Push it
into the red hole in the very middle. Now head downstairs and push the red
block all the way to the left until it falls into the gap. Defeat another
Golem and you’ll get another green block. Push it down the top hole in the
middle again. Go down and push the green block up into the gap. Go back up and
defeat one last Golem to obtain a blue block and push it down the middle blue
hole on the right. Go down and push this block to the right into the remaining
gap.

You can now access both sides of the room to get some chests containing 4,000
Gald and Elven Cape on the right, and Holy Symbol and Miracle Gel on the
left. Then head up the north stairway and examine the table ahead to weaken
a seal. Return to the entrance of the temple, and head up the middle way
for a scene. Get inside the warp to reach another room and warp once more.
Head left ino the new hallway and open the chest for All-Divide, then
continue left until you come up to Verius’ altar.

After the cutscenes, leave the temple to find Dirk fighting off monsters. Help
him out by defeating them, then watch the remaining scenes. Now’s time to
return to the world map to finish off everything left before the end of the
game.

-----------------------------
(Final Preparations)

There are several things to do now. First, head over to Luin for a final scene
with Emil’s aunt and uncle. Then, go to the fountain in the west part of town
for a short dialogue with Tenebrae. Next, you can revisit each past towns to
watch extra scenes with each of your party members. Genis can be found in
the center of Palmacosta, Colette can be found next to the school in Iselia,
Regal can be found on the docks in Izoold, Lloyd can be found on the balcony
in front of the church in Flanoir, Zelos can be found in front of the castle
in Meltokio, Raine can be found in the center of Sybak, Sheena can be found
at the left of the stream in Mizuho, and Presea can be found in front of
Altessa’s house.

When you’re done talking to everyone, you can visit the Tower of Salvation one
last time for a final scene there. Then go to Altamira to meet up with Marta
and the rest of the party. Finally, go to the library in Sybak to watch the
final scene of the Richter side quest if you’ve been following through
that. Also, you can now speak with the twins in front of the Lloyd fountain
in Luin. The very last thing remaining is the Flanoir scene. Go to Iselia for a
cutscene with Lloyd and choose one character from the list that you’d like to
see with Lloyd. Then go to Flanoir for the follow-up and head up to the
church to watch the scene. That’s pretty much all, so when you’re ready, head
for the Otherwordly Gate on the world map, your last destination.

___________________________________________
-----------------------------
Otherworldy Gate

This is the final area. Head down the path and open the chest on your way for
Blood Lust. You’ll come down to an elevator with colored light circles. Go
down to the floor below and you’ll notice colored roots all around the floor,
as well as many enemies. There is no puzzle or anything to make out of the
colors, all you gotta do is use the Sorcerer’s Ring on each of the roots (in
no particular order) to lighten the circles on the elevator. Once you’ve done
that with all four, use the elevator to reach the floor below, which is
basically the same. Simply do the same thing again, use the ring on all four
roots, to light up the remaining circles on the elevator. Now you can go
down to the bottom floor. However, before doing so you should return to the
save point above and save your game as there’s a hard battle ahead.

For the battle against Alice and Decus I would recommend being around Lv50 or
even 55. You should take down Alice first since she can heal, and attack her
continuously so she doesn’t have time to cast any spell. As soon as you see
her casting, attack. If she ever gets to heal it’s almost as if you’re
starting over. Once she is down, take out Decus to finish off the battle.
After the ensuing scenes, open the chest nearby for Red Lavender. Continue to
the next area by the path to the left. When you get to a fork, continue left
and open the chest on the way for Millstone. Equip it to Marta. Keep following
the path to the next area where you’ll find a chest with Mind Slicer. Equip
it to Emil. Head down the rest of the path for two chests containing Red
Verbena and Angel Dust. Now return to the fork in the previous area and this
time head down and follow the path to the next area leading to a chest with
Red Basil.

Continue to the left for a scene and then save your game at the next save
point. Head down to the stone statues of your team and after the next scene,
get ready to face Aqua. She isn’t too hard however. After the battle, make
sure to equip all the right gear and that you’re at a good level for the
final boss ahead. Save your game one last time and proceed forward. After
defeating Richter, Emil will face Marta and Lloyd. If you want to get the bad
ending, defeat them, but if you want to get the good ending, do not fight
them. Let them defeat you. After a few more scenes, defeat the other Emil
which is the very last battle. Now sit back and enjoy the ending.

Fin.
