------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joypack Joyride - PSN/Xbox Live FAQ Version 1.0 14th June 2018 Written by 91210 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: This guide doesn't cover gameplay found in the deluxe version of Jetpack Joyride. This is for first release of Jetpack Joyride. Jetpack Joyride Contents 1) About the Jetpack Joyride Guide 1a) Introduction To Guide 1b) About Jetpack Joyride 1c) About PSN and Xbox Live Version 1d) What the Guide Covers (Not for Deluxe version) 2) Jetpack Joyride's Game Mechanics 2a) Gameplay 2b) Obstacles 2c) Missions 2d) Gadgets 3) Ingame Achievements 4) Trophy/Achievements *Coming soon* 4a) PSN Trophies *Coming soon* 4b) Xbox Achievements *Coming soon* 5) The Stash 6) Final Thoughts ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) About the Jetpack Joyride Guide ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, I decided to type this guide. It was actually my younger brother who purchased this game and it went unplayed, so I've decided to play the game and to type about it. Wasn't sure why he bought it but doesn't seem right just buying a game and not playing it and I hope he'll learn to value the games he buys when I show him his FAQ that I've typed. Either way, it is a good game and I did enjoy it. It is worth typing an FAQ. There are many parts of the games that are challengin and it is worth addressing them. 1a) Introduction To Guide What makes this guide more of a walkthrough, other then the trophies for the PS3 version and Achievements for the Xbox Live version. The game does have missions that maybe need explaining. They come naturally but it's worth explaining if anyone can't reach the run. The FAQ will explain how to collect the data in the stats screen if anyone really wants to play with those and see where it goes. it will help with some of the achievements in the game and vice versa. I thought the 5km achievement/trophy had everyone haggled. This requires heavy investment from your hard earned coin collecting and some luck. Skill has almost nothing to do with it and that's my opinion of the game. 1b) About Jetpack Joyride Jetpack Joyride is an endless runner where the player plays as Barry, a struggling gramophone salesman (as the Jetpack Joyride website explains) who decides to break into a laboraty to steal an experimental jetpack. While for Barry, it is easy to break in to get the device yet impossible to get out, because there is clearly no exit for Barry, thus making this the premise of this endless runner. Getting in Barry's way are zappers, lasers and missles. These get in the way to prevent Barry from getting any further, let alone anywhere thus killing him. Barry would run kilometres however during the game, the speed Barry runs speeds up and thus making it much more tougher for you to allow Barry to avoid the obstacles that would hit Barry . Usually the game would only allow over 2 kms with an average player. The game achievements would ask you to perform over 5 kms to get a trophy and everything else just for bragging rights. To help Barry can collect boosters to obtain vehicles which not only grant different ways to progress the level. These help a lot to achieve more further distances which would help allow but the extra challnge, you'll have to learn how to pliot these machines because they behave completely different then Barry himself. I will cover these in the guide. Other then that, the other challenge are collecting coins which helps you purchase new items in the stash to help Barry improve and enjoy all the content to be seen as you play the game. Does Barry ever reach the stage? Does the game ever allow Barry to purchase a magical door to form an exit, to escape, run out onto the streets, avoid police in GTA fashion, escape or flee to another country, get married and have a wife and kids with the surname Steakflies and feels bad and reverse engineer the Jetpack technology, with an ever growing outside threat which requires him and the jetpack to save the world? Who knows!? Let's just stick with him not deserving to escape the lab with the jetpack that doesn't belong to him, which helps the game be as simple to understand. 1c) About the Xbox Live/PSN Versions Jetpack Joyride for the Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 and PSN for the PlayStation 3 is a cut down, lite version of the Jetpack Joyride from the PC and Smartphones. The game was released for the smartphones and PC but these have loads of updates going for the game to expand on the gameplay. The PlayStation 3/Xbox live editions cut down on the content. The achievements are seen in the PS3 version of the game embedded within it are nice to have while it adopts the trophy support. 1d) What this guide won't cover! The guide WILL cover simple Gameplay mechanics, gadgets and what they do. All mission objectives. Trophies across the PS3 and Achievements Xbox 360 version. How to get across 5 kilometres and effectively playing the game. This guide WON'T cover anything from the Deluxe version. The Deluxe is a re-release for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. If features a different (and maybe more time consuming) trophy set and with that, the original Jetpack Joyride was removed from the PlayStation Store. The Deluxe version was said to be more time consuming because of the new challenge which forced the player to sit across 50 days, The S.A.M. pick up challenge. Sorry folks but if anyone wants, feel free to copy many parts of this guide and add them onto your guides if anyone wants to talk about the Deluxe version and upload it onto GameFAQs. I think the S.A.M. was just tacked on way to make the game to be played more but it has a trophy which makes you play the game for 50 days, with five days in a row, goes to show the game was made to be time consuming then the original release of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Jetpack Joyride's Game Mechanics ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The main game and how to play and beat the game in a nutshell. 2a) Gameplay Being an endless runner like any other, the game makes you control a character who simply as to avoid as many hazards as they possibly can until you die. The game has zappers, lasers and missles getting in Steakfries way however being endless, something will evenfully hit him to give you a game over and a final distance count. The main challenge is to reach as further as you possibly get. The main challenge to make the game more playable and fun are the trophies and achievements. Other then that, there are alot of minor challenges and missions to play around with to earn coins and purchase upgrades to reach those trophies and achievements. Being a port from the Android version, Jetpack Joyride limits what could be used in the game however it's made up for it by taking advangate of the PlayStation 3's Trophies and Xbox Live's achievements for the challenge and to make it worth while. They are more or less the same as both version, which makes up the challenge of the game. One of the challenges is to unlock and purchase almost all the items in the store which gives out an achievement which adds to seeing and trying everything in the game. 2b) Obstacles Only three obstacles in the game to halt Barry from continuing, these are: Zappers: Floating devices which transmit electricity to each other. They spawn top, middle or the bottom of the stage. Barry job to avoid these or getting hit results in a game over. Lasers: These devices appear from the side of the screen and charge before firing off at each other. Barry has enough time to position himself while the laser appear and charge before firing off which could zap Barry. Missiles: These fly towards Barry. There are exclamation marks which appear on the right hand side on the screen which let you know that a missile is inbound and Barry has to position himself to avoid these incoming missiles. Getting hit by one of these missiles will result in a game over. These obstacles are present however as Barry progreses, he runs much faster and these obstacles will approach him more quicker giving you less time to react increasing the chances to hit Barry, so avoiding all of these is the challenge of the main game. 2c) Missions For the most part, having missions will help you earn many coins. They are useful because you could rake up for 10,000 coins completing a set of missions, which is useful to purchase all the items in the store to complete the game. Examples of mission objectives to complete: Avoid number of zappers Near hit against missiles Reaching a certain distance Hitting or flying over sciencists Collecting a number of certain power-ups. 2d) Gadgets Gadgets and what they do in the game. The gadgets don't cost a lot compared to other items. The most expensive gadget is 11,500. Air Barrys - 3,500 These help get a boost when you jump. Very useful when jumping to avoid lasers and zappers. Nerd Repellant - 2,000 Will make the scienist disappear during the entire session Insta-Ball - 4,000 When Barry dies, he'll quickly summon into a ball which bounces to gain a very extra metres. Useful when you want to achieve better distances. Buy 2 Gadgets will unlock these gadgets Gravity Belt As the game description states, it makes going to the ground come a lot faster for Barry. Missile Jammer Will make the incoming missles in the game useless. Token Gift During the start of the game session, a token will appear, so you can collect it. Collecting the token is still optional. Buying 4 Gadgets To Unlock these Freeze-o-matic - When Barry dies, he will quickly get frozen and this will allow him to slide a few metres. Useful to get a few extra metres if you want to reach those distance goals. X-Ray Specs These will help Barry look into the vehicle powers to see what inside of them. Really useful if you don't want to get a vehicle you don't want which you feel isn't worth riding on as those collectibles appear so often. They also are used to look into the sciencists clothing in a preverted nature, which the game counts into. Gemology - Converts some of the coins into gems. These gems are worth five coins. very useful if you really want to purchase everything quickly. Buying 6 Gadgets will Unlock these Ezy-Dodge Missiles These missiles become very slow, which makes it easy for Barry to avoid them. Magnetic Tokens Will collect tokens easily. Useful if you really want tokens to play the slot games at the end. Flying Pig A pig which drops a few coins, collecting and breaking it will release the coins inside of the pig, like a piggy bank, which is why it's in the game. Buying 8 gadgets will unlock these: Free Ride - Will give you a vehicle to use before the session begins. These will be random like the collectible. Coin Magnet - Will help you collect coins more easily because the coins attract to Barry if he gets close to them. Useful if you really want to get as many coins to purchase everything in the game and don't want a hard time to grab them. Lucky Last Will give you a token everytime you play. Once Barry dies, he gets a token to use in the final spins slot game. Buying 10 Gadget will Unlock these: Flash A robot dog who helps Barry get items. Not really useful as he looks but is fun to use in some cases. There is also an achievement to have when you take Flash for a walk for 10 kms. Dezapinator Used to disable zappers however doesn't work all the time. Around a 20% chance a zapper will mulfuction and be useless. Sometimes its useful because there are times thinking that Barry gets hit but the zapper shuts down only to find that Barry isn't affected thus continuing the game. Turbo Boost Turbo Boost used to give Barry a boost. The device is a loop that floats and allows Barry to enter giving him a boost. Often appears after a few hundred metres now and again. 2e) Vehicles The game has six vehicles. The six default vehicles. Bad As Hog, Crazy Freaking Teleporter, Gravity Suit, Lil' Stomper, Mr. Cuddles and Profit Bird. Each of them behave differently, so it takes a while getting used to them to get further but the good feature is that after these vehicles are hit, they are destory and it saves Barry getting hit, allowing him to continue to get further into the level. The even better news is that the game remaps the hazards suited for the vehciles to avoid. Bad As Hog - A motorcycle which Barry rides on. Can jump very high and much further, as motorcycles are maybe the fastest and picks up speed more quickly which helps represent the motorcycle. Barry gets himself a shotgun funnily enough maybe in reference to Terminator 2 with Arnie's character using the shotgun as he rides a motorcycle found within that movie. Crazy Freaking Teleporter - A unit which encases Barry. Allows him to travel in mid-air however to avoid the dangers in front of him or changes the level he is hovering at, the player can by hitting the jump button, which teleports the unit with Barry inside to a new location. The new location is marked on screen to where the teleport would go if the player hits the jump button to have a good idea where the vehicle will land. Gravity Suit - A suit which allows Barry to invert himself to run on ceilings and back onto the floors again. Also can change direction while in mid-air, so it's not just fixed to reach the ceiling with one switch. The design of the suit has been said to be based on another game Gravity Man. Lil' Stomper - A metal made mech suit which Barry can walk/run around with. Pressing and holding the jump button will help Lil' Stomper to jump very high and holding the jump button as Lil' Stomper lands will allow the mech to glide and prevent a hard landing, useful to avoid some of the hazards in some cases. Mr. Cuddles - A mechanical dragon which travels it way across the stage while Barry is riding on the head of it. Unlike a button to jump, the dragon tries to land when the jump button is pressed, making it more of a challenge to control unlike the other vehicles in the game. Profit Bird - Profit Bird is a mechanical bird which grinds on the floor and gets some air by flapping it wings. The more the bird flaps its wings, the higher off the ground the vehicle gets off. The design of the vehicle may look like from the popular Flappy Bird. Not really a Flappy Bird clone as Joypack Joyride was released before Flappy Bird was ever released. Has been said that it is a mix of Red from Angry Birds and a vehicle found in Tiny Wings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Ingame Achievements ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The achievements found in game. not sure what they do. Have points but I think they are to reference the Xbox version of the game. For PlayStation players, maybe a nice simulation on understanding how Xbox achievements work. Pretty Woman - 20 Buy A Matching Set of Clothings Matching sets of clothing are apparent, like the zombie gear or royal robes are a good example of a matching set. Tee Hee Two - 20 Collect Excatly 69 Coins You must collect 69 coins and kill Barry to be awarded with this achievement. Spice Of Life - 10 Take A Ride in Every Vehicle In The Game. Collect the vehicle tokens. There are six vehicles in the game, so once you take the oppotunity to ride the six vehicle, you'll be awarded with this award. Not So Green - 10 Complete 10 Missions Easy, just complete 10 of the missions the game asks. Gold Digger - 20 Collect 20 Coins While Dead. Sometimes lucky to get this. Would help with the coin magnets and gem gadget equiped. When there are coins near a zapper. Finish the game by ending Barry and hope you'll get enough coins to be awarded with this award. Toastie - 20 Get toasted by a missile 3 times in a row Barry needs to get hit by a missile 3 times. So while playing a game, end the game. Fuzzy Locks - 20 Get Fried 99 Times Get hit by the zappers 99 times. Road Trip - 20 Accumulate a Total of 10kms on the Hog While riding the hog, travel for 10km. A nice award while playing to complete the objectives in the game. Fallout - 20 Win 3 Atom Blasts During the final spins, win Atom Blasts. They are rare but keep playing and you'll eventfully win three of them. Big spender - 20 Spend Over 50,000 Spend 50,001 in the stash. Another award in game which is worth working towards as you play for the other achievements. Veteran - 30 Complete 40 Missions Complete 40 missions during the game. Another award to see you by while playing for the other achievements. Hippy - 30 Take a trip in the rainbow Jetpack and don't collect any coins. Purchase the Rainbow jetpack and finish the game without any coins collected. Bullseye - 30 Get a score of exactly 200m This is very hard. You'll have to have Barry land on the 200m mark. Get used to seeing how far Barry lands when he gets hit around the 150m and hope that you'll get the number right at 200m. This is the most trial and error. Took me 20 attempts to get it. Again, the trick is to get a feel how Barry lands and trying to get that at the right time. James Who? - 30 Buy 2 Jetpacks. Simple, just save coins and purchase two Jetpacks. Foam Party - 30 Fly a total of 10kms with the bubble gum jetpack Purchase the Bubble gum jetpack and after 5 to 10 games covering 1km to 2km and you'll get this award. Crazy Freaking skills - 30 Get a best distance of over 800m in the CFT. In the Crazy Freaking Teleporter. Get used to how it works and covering the distance while Barry is in there. You have to use the same session to cover the distance at 800m, which can be a challenge. Once you know how to get used to the vehicle and the luck on getting there, the award is yours. The game knows how often you teleport also, the rate you teleport and etc, which forces the game to spawns zappers just for the player, so be wary about that also. Class Act - 50 Fly Over 1km, sporting the top hat, classy suit and traditional jetpack. You'll have to purchase the top hat, classy suit and use the traditional jetpack. Dragon Fruit - 20 Ride Mr.Cuddles while sporting the fruit jetpack. Dragon Fruit is a item in the game Fruit Ninja, which was made by the same developer of Jetpack Joyride, Halfbrick Studios. You have to purchase a fruit jetpack and get Mr. Cuddles during the game and ride the vehicle with the equiped Jetpack. Crackling - 20 Blow up a flying pig with a missile. Some luck and maybe the game program to be aware about this. You'll have to equip the gadget Flying Pig and while playing a session, hope that a missile launches and hits the flying pig. Doing that will obtain this award. Rejected - 10 Fly past the token gift without collecting it. Equip the token gift in the gadgets. A bit pointless not collecting it so the game decides there should be an award just for that. Another Way In - 10 Start a game without breaking the laboratory wall. For this, you'll need to equip the gadget to allow you to start the game sessions with a vehicle. There is one vehicle that enters pass walls and other obstacles. Mix 'n' Match - 30 Equip 50 unique gadget combos. There are 12 gadgets in the game. With two slots availible to equip as much gadgets as the game allows. With this, equiping a combo will give a comment what the combination is. The game will tally them and once you get 50, then you'll unlock this award. Walkies - 20 Take Flash on a 10km walk. Flash is a robot dog. You'll unlock this but only after you purchase all the other gadgets to unlock this for sale. Flash would travel with Barry in the game. Once reaching 10km, this award is yours. Angry Wings - 30 Get the profit bird twice in one game. Start the game with a vehicle and then lose that one and with x-ray googles, hope you find a profit bird token and get that for the award. Germaphobe - 50 Fly 2km, without touching any coins, scientists or tokens. Don't use any magnets or vehicles and you'll reach 2km and get this award. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Trophy/Achievements ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trophy and Achievements explained. COMING SOON! 4a) PSN Trophies 4b) Xbox Achievements ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) The Stash ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just a re-write of the items description found in the game store. You use the coins you've collected ingame to use on items sold in the games store. I believe it's called "The Stash" to get away from just calling it a store. The term used on places like PlayStation or Xbox Store. One idea, I would say, if any are gunning for all the items for the achievement then don't bored yourself especially towards the end. Personal experience of mine is think about which items to buy last as you hit to obtaining the trophy. I had the zombie gear bought last because I simply thought I didn't need it and I was just bored of the idea, considering there are so many zombie games already out there. Don't be fooled with DJ Berry last on the list. DJ Barry may be last on the list however it changes the game experience greatly because it isn't as boring. Purchasing DJ Barry and equiping it swaps the audio music as you progress the game, so it's a nice change from listening to the default music within the game where you could be playing for hours listening to the same music over and over again and DJ Barry is there listed but looks like it is recommended to be bought last. Not really the best suggestion the game offers. The set of items I was first interested in purchasing were the jetpacks and gadgets because they could be used within the game anyways and changes the game greatly so it's worth purchasing those first. DJ Berry should maybe be purchased first, knowing what that does already, if you really wanted the option to change the background music of the game. The cosmetic items to be purchase last. Maybe cheap and could work slowly towards the trophy but it isn't that exciting compared to the other features the game offers in the store. You'll complete the entire game anyways in the same amount of time, so I would go for the functional items first like gadgets and jetpacks. I would avoid getting anything from the Ulititles section. You'll work extremely hard playing for 30 minutes to an hour for as much as 10,000 coins and use it to unlock missions when they are easy to complete and etc. It isn't worth it. Here's the list of items so you can have a reminder at them and think about them before viewing them from your consoles again.
