The controls are simple, intuitive and easy to learn. There are, however, a number of minor mechanical elements that players new to Rockstar's style, or the "GTA-style," may be unfamiliar with. This sub-section endeavors to enlighten that demographic. Saving & Loading Like most games, you can load previous saves from the main menu. But saving your game is a bit different. In Read Dead Redemption, you must be at a "camp" to save--which is anywhere you can sleep. You can set up camp in the wilds (by selecting "camp" from the satchel menu). You can rent beds for the night. You can purchase rooms. And, early on in the story, you are given your very own "home." Inside a camp, you can not only save your game, but change your character's outfit and restock on ammunition as well. Venturing through the West Travel is a fairly simple affair. When you set up camp in the wild, you can fast-travel to certain destinations. You can hitch rides on carriages, and either sit back and enjoy being a passenger, or skip the traveling sequence entirely. Going by foot can be fun, but also very time consuming, so most of the time you'll be using a horse. Horses 1. When you tame a wild horse, you will not "own" it until you tether it. 2. You can only own one horse at a time. 3. When you own a horse, whistling will ALWAYS call that horse to you, no matter where you are, unless the horse is dead. 4. When you buy a horse from the general store, you can re-set it as your owned horse (after either abandoning it or it dies) by selecting that horse's deed from the menu. Dead Eye Similar to the VATS system in Fallout 3, Dead Eye is a mechanic whereby you slow down time and paint your target. Fame & Honor As you interact with the world of Red Dead Redemption, you will accumulate fame and honor. Your fame stat stats at zero and can only increase as you play; the honor stat starts at "neutral" and will increase or decrease depending on how you react to the various people and events you encounter in your travels. Note: all perks stack on top of each other. Fame Rank Perks Legend Your bounties are halved. Gunslinger Stealing horses will no longer be a crime. Mercenary Doubles the amount of time you have between law attacks from one to two days. Buckaroo It costs 25% less to bribe lawmen. Greenhorn Increases the number of random events. Nobody N/A (starting rank) Honor Rank Perks Desperado Eyewitnesses will only report murders. Road Agent Shops in Thieves Landing charge half as much for items, and they'll pay you more for the items you sell to them. When you whistle, a special black horse will come to you. Rustler Witnesses require half as much money to bribe than usual. Drifter N/A (starting rank) Honest Joe All jobs pay out double the normal rate. Peacemaker All shops charge half as much for items, and all shops will pay more for the items you sell to them. Hero You'll be able to get away with any crime short of murder without worrying about witnesses. Bandana You can purchase a Bandana from Thieves Landing or Escalera. Wearing the Bandana hides your identity, allowing you to commit all kinds of atrocities without effecting your fame or honor ranks. Removing the bandana after committing a crime will also cause your wanted level to decrease more quickly than normal. ___ ___ \ \ / / > > ~ Characters ~ < < /__/ RDR-01D \__\ Read Dead Redemption features an impressive cast of individuals, representing the swath of people one might encounter in the old west--from Chinese immigrants to native Americans, to the typical snaggletoothed prospectors and idealistic revolutionaries with a bone to pick against their own government. Former outlaw John Marston arrives in Armadillo, the largest town in the New Austin territory, with orders to confront and deal with one of the most dangerous, notorious gangs in the West. ___ ___ \ \ / / > > ~ John Marston ~ < < /__/ RDR-02A \__\ "Exodus in America" Reward: N/A Prerequisite Mission: N/A Walkthrough: As soon as you get off the train, you'll be able to do pretty much whatever you want, but I would recommend immediately following the story missions for a while, at least up until you earn the lasso. Anyway, go inside the saloon, marked on your map as all mission objectives are, with a yellow marker. Follow Jake to Fort Mercer. If you hold X (PS3) or A (Xbox 360) while near to Jake's horse, you'll match his speed. "New Friends, Old Problems" Reward: Safehouse +150 Fame +50 Honor Prerequisite Mission: "Exodus in America" Walkthrough: Follow Bonnie around the Ranch. This mission is essentially a dressed up tutorial, so if it gives you trouble... you may as well give up with the game entirely. When you get to the field, kill the rabbits. Then, fight off the coyotes in the chicken coops--often they'll run out an away, but should be pretty easy to track down. Bonnie will also help you take them out, and you don't have to worry about them attacking you, so it's very easy. ___ ___ \ \ / / > > ~ Bonnie MacFarlane ~ < < /__/ RDR-02B \__\ "Obstacles In Our Path" Reward: +20 Fame Prerequisite Mission: "New Friends, Old Problems" Walkthrough: Horses handle better the more you ride them, so unless you're supremely confident in your skills, it's probably best to take a short break and ride around New Austin for a while. Otherwise, this race can be a bit tricky. That said, the race itself is pretty simple: there are small, smoky signal fires marking each waypoint you need to get to. Just keep a quick pace and don't stress your horse too much. Odds are, if you fall off your horse, you won't be able to win. However, you do not need to win the race to complete the mission: merely complete the circuit. "This Is Armadillo, USA" Reward: Stagecoach Travel Mini-Game: Poker Mini-Game: Five-Finger Fillet Prerequisite Mission: "Obstacles In Our Path" Walkthrough: Hop in the driver's seat on the wagon, and get moving. You'll want to stay on the road for a faster, smoother ride. Once you get to Armadillo, Bonnie will give you some money to buy medicine from the Doctor: do so. Once you've finished this mission, you'll be able to travel (fast or slow) across the world by hitching a ride on a stagecoach. "Women And Cattle" Reward: Mini-Game: Horseshoes Prerequisite Mission: "This Is Armadillo, USA" Walkthrough: Go to Bonnie's house to speak with her. He goes all David Copperfield on her, with considerably less eloquence and considerably more brevity. After the scene, it's time to go and round up some cattle. Herding cattle is a bit tricky: basically, think of the herd as a singular object. You want to stay behind the cattle and ride forward to drive them in the same direction. If you go too slow, the cattle will ignore you; too fast, and you'll simply ride through the herd instead of driving them. It can take some getting used to, but once you've got the hang of herding, it's not too much trouble. Keep an eye out for stragglers (the herd is marked with blue icons on your mini-map, so they're easy to spot) and move them back into the main herd if they go astray. For this mission, you'll be spending a lot of time herding the cattle: out the pen, down the road and to the pasture. Then, to an old oak tree. Fortunately, you won't have to worry about being attacked by either man or beast, so take your time and enjoy being a cowboy. "Wild Horses, Tamed Passions" Reward: Lasso Horse: Kentucky Saddler Prerequisite Mission: "Women And Cattle" Walkthrough: Go to MacFarlane Ranch and talk to Bonnie. You'll finally meet her father, whose absence till now is rather conspicuous. After Bonnie gives you the lasso, hop on your horse and follow her and her father to the wild horses. Remember: you equip the lasso through the weapon wheel. Hold L2/LT to aim, and R2/RT to throw. You'll have to be close. When you've lassoed a horse, keep L2/LT held down until Bonnie and her father also lasso it. Once they've got the horse tethered between them, get down of your horse and onto the wild horse to trigger the horse-breaking mini-game. It's fairly easy: just keep you balance with the left analog stick. Keep following the MacFarlanes around. Bonnie's father will leave with the first wild horse, and you and Bonnie will capture another one: repeat the same process you just went through, then let Bonnie ride the wild horse you just roped, and head back to the Ranch. After getting back to the Ranch, you'll need to head out again to track down a herd of wild horses. Herding horses is just like herding cattle, save the horses tend to be less docile. But, again, you'll not have to worry about being attacked by animals or outlaws, so take your time, be patient, and drive the horses into the canyon. Once you're all in the canyon, you'll need to chase down a stallion by yourself, lasso it and break it. Once you've lassoed the stallion, you'll need to keep it lassoed by holding down L2/LT. Dismount your own horse and get on the stallion. Complete the horsebreaking mini-game, then ride it to meet Bonnie. "A Tempest Looms" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "Wild Horses, Tamed Passions" Walkthrough: This herding mission differs from the last in that it is slightly more complicated, and introduces a timed element. Meet Bonnie by the corral, and follow her to the herd. Keep an eye on your map and the cow indicator at the top of the screen to be sure no stragglers are lost. Drive the cattle to the marker. When you get there, the cattle will be startled by a lightning strike and stampede toward a cliff. If you don't move out right away, you'll lose your chance, so gallop on after them as quickly as you can. To stop the cattle from stampeding, you need to cut them off--so zig-zag through and in front of them. Once you've cut them off, the cattle will stop running and turn around, heading back toward Bonnie. Stop all of the stampeding cows, then herd the stragglers back to the main group (with Bonnie) and herd the whole lot of them back to MacFarlane Ranch. "The Burning" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "A Tempest Looms" "Spare The Rod, Spoil The Bandit" Walkthrough: Talk to Bonnie by the Blacksmith, and then follow her out of the ranch to look for her father. She'll spot "someone" soon enough, and dive into the woods. Follow after her to find her father, and the site of a massacre. He'll send the two of you back to the ranch. when you get back to MacFarlane Ranch, you'll see a pillar of black smoke rising from the ground: the barn is on fire. Ride to the barn and dismount. You'll have to climb up the side of the barn, via the conveniently-placed scaffolding. Red Dead Redemption is not a platformer, so the climbing/jumping controls aren't the best. You'll need to stand at the edge of a platform, and stand still, in order to grab onto the ledge above you. Climb up the scaffolding and onto the roof of the barn: follow around the back side of the barn, and go inside. Jump down to the ground, and go to the barn's door to open it. Then, smack two of the horses to get them out of the barn: you'll have to ride the last horse out yourself. Build up a bit of speed so that you can leap over the debris. Once you're out of the barn, ride the horse to its stall. ___ ___ \ \ / / > > ~ Marshall Leigh Johnson ~ < < /__/ RDR-02C \__\ "Political Realities In Armadillo" Reward: +$20 +??? Fame +??? Honor Prerequisite Mission: "Obstacles In Our Path" Walkthrough: Follow Johnson to the saloon at the other end of Armadillo. Once Walton leaves, whistle for your horse and join the sheriff in pursuit. Remember to hold down on X/A while near the sheriff's horse to match its speed. Walton will run to his hideout, so keep up. Grab some cover and move up the hill, taking out all of the outlaws in your path. At the end of the mission, you'll encounter Walton: you can either shoot him in the leg to capture him alive (for a bit of an honor bonus) or kill him. "Justice In Pike's Basin" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "Political Realities In Armadillo" Walkthrough: Talk to Marshall Johnson outside his office, then follow him and his deputies North to Pike's Basin. Dismount, and fight your way inside, using cover to spare yourself some bullet holes. You can either take the right fork, with the sheriff, or the left fork, with his deputies. Whichever route you take, it doesn't much matter. Make your way through the basin shooting all of the outlaws you see (watch out for snipers on the opposite side of the basin, however) until you meet up with the other group. Converge in the center of the basin where the hostages are held. Once all of the outlaws are dead, approach the hostages to free them. "Spare The Rod, Spoil The Bandit" Reward: Winchester Repeater Prerequisite Mission: "Women And Cattle" "Old Swindler's Blues" Walkthrough: Talk to Marshall Johnson in Armadillo. Follow him and his astonishingly competent deputies to Ridgewood farm to round up the outlaw posse. Examine the remains you find along the way. When you get to Ridgewood, examine the the two areas on the map to look for survivors, then join back up with Johnson. Head over to the barn and watch the scene, after which you'll be attacked by outlaws coming from the ranch house. Use cover, advance patiently, and take them all out. Go inside and clear out all the bandits. They're all pretty easy to kill, save the very last one. The last bandit is behind a closed door with a hostage. Marshall Johnson will stand outside the door, gun drawn, but will not do anything. You can try to attack directly, but even if you try to use Dead Eye targeting, there's a good chance the outlaw will kill the hostage before you can fire, forcing the mission to end in failure. Rather, head for one of the side rooms: shoot out a window, and hop onto the roof. Circle around and shoot the outlaw in the back of his head to save the last hostage. Then go down to the shed you searched earlier to view another scene. Now it's time to hunt down the last of the bandits. Follow the Marshall south until a scene triggers--then duck behind some cover by the station, and take out the gang members as they assault your position. These outlaws will come in waves, but have to run down the cliff path, which makes them vulnerable. By now, you should be able to pick them off one by one with relative ease. "Hanging Bonnie MacFarlane" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "The Burning" Walkthrough: Speak to Marshall Johnson and Bonnie's father in the sheriff's office, then follow Johnson to Tumbleweed. When you get there, you'll need to escort Norman Deek toward the town entrance. It's a lot like herding cattle: just keep bumping into him from behind to keep him moving forward. Naturally, the whole thing is one big trap. Grab some cover and take out as many of the outlaws as you can, as quickly as you can. Eventually, a scene will trigger where Bonnie is dropped. You'll need to get to her as quickly as possible to save her. There really aren't too many outlaws inside the town, so your best bet is to equip a pistol, and just run-and-gun. When you get close to the gallows, a scene will trigger where you save bonnie (so don't bother trying to shoot down the noose). Once all of the outlaws in town are dead, untie Bonnie to end the mission. ___ ___ \ \ / / > > ~ Nigel Dickens ~ < < /__/ RDR-02D \__\ "Old Swindler Blues" Reward: Mini-Game: Liar's Dice Prerequisite Mission: "Justice In Pike's Basin" Walkthrough: You'll see Nigel's location marked on your map with a big 'ol "W." Find him, speak to him, and then hop into his cart to drive him to the doctor in Armadillo. This mission is easy: the only complication arises in the form of a few, half-hearted bandit attacks which should be fairly easy to repel. Just remember to keep the cart on the road and to avoid over-working the horses. "You Shall Not Give False Testimony, Except For Profit" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "Women And Cattle" "Old Swindler Blues" Walkthrough: You'll have to wait a while after dropping Nigel off at the Doctor before you can take on his second mission. When you can, go back to the doctor and pick him up. Once again, you're playing chauffeur. Drive Nigel to Ridgewood Farm. He'll kick you out before you get there, and you'll have to walk the rest of the way. When you arrive, blend in with the crowd and approach Nigel to trigger a scene. When prompted, shoot the skull on the ranch house porch. Next, you'll have to shoot a hat thrown into the air: do so with Dead Eye targeting. Once you've completed those trials, one of the local brutes will challenge you to a fight: beat him up. Later, he'll draw his gun: use Dead Eye targeting again to blast the weapon out of his hands to end the mission. "Liars, Cheats And Other Proud Americans" Reward: +$3 +200 Fame Prerequisite Mission: "Exhuming And Other Fine Hobbies" Walkthrough: Another racing mission, and this one is much, much easier that the first. Hop in the passenger seat of Nigel's cart and allow him to ferry you to the race course, then hop in your chariot. Run through the checkpoints as quickly as you can, and stay on the road. The other racers are quite slow, so you should be able to claim first place with a wide lead before you've completed even a tenth of the circuit. Once you've won the race, hop back in Nigel's cart and flee the scene. You can skip these travel bits, both to and from the race, but I wouldn't recommend it, as you'd be missing out on quite a bit of dialog. "Can A Swindler Change His Spots?" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "Liars, Cheats And Other Proud Americans" Walkthrough: You'll find Nigel in the southern portion of New Austin. Watch the scene, then get in Nigel's wagon (riding shotgun) to flee from the attackers. Use a rifle, if you've got the the ammo, to take out your pursuers. Eventually you'll come across a roadblock, with some handy barrels of dynamite nearby: use the dynamite to blow up the roadblock. Keep taking out all of the bad guys shooting at you, as per usual, and eventually you'll make it to the safety a small cave, ending the mission. "The Sport Of Kings And Liars" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "Can A Swindler Change His Spots?" Walkthrough: Time for another race! Mount your horse and follow Nigel to the racing grounds. Watch a scene at the starting line, then it's time to run. Same as before, stay on the path, aim for the fiery waypoints, and keep your horse galloping at its fastest speed. You should be able to force your way to the lead of the pack long before reaching the finish. ___ ___ \ \ / / > > ~ Seth Briars ~ < < /__/ RDR-02E \__\ "Exhuming And Other Fine Hobbies" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "Wild Horses, Tamed Passions" "You Shall Not Give False Testimony, Except For Profit" Walkthrough: Speak with Seth in the graveyard of Coot's Chapel. Then follow him to Benedict Point. You'll need to distract the two guards. The game tells you to steal one of the deputy's horses, which will earn you a $40 bounty: instead, you can simply approach the door to the cabin, and the lawmen will draw their guns on you without provocation. Either way, once you're wanted, run away from the area and lose the wanted level. Then, head back to Benedict Point and speak to Seth again. Moses will escape, so shoot him in the leg, lasso him and hog tie him. Drag the poor sod back to Seth to view a short scene. Then you'll get a pardon letter: take it to the nearby telegraph office to get rid of your bounty--though you'd be better off paying the bounty with cash, and saving the pardon letter for a rainy day. "A Gentle Drive With Friends" Reward: +$10 +75 Fame Prerequisite Mission: "Exhuming, And Other Fine Hobbies" Walkthrough: Meet up with Seth again, and drive his wagon to Tumbleweed. You'll be attacked by treasure hunters along the way: take them out. They'll be pretty fast, and pretty close, so a pistol will work much better for you than a shotgun. Cross the bridge and get to the gates of Tumbleweed to trigger a scene and end the mission. "Let The Dead Bury Their Dead" Reward: +$10 +150 Fame Prerequisite Mission: "A Gentle Drive With Friends" Walkthrough: Speak to Seth outside the gates of Tumbleweed. Stay sharp, because there's an outlaw inside the shack who will burst out the door, guns blazing, when you get close. Once you're surrounded by corpses, examine the interior of the shack to find out what, exactly, was so worth dying for to protect. "Man Is Born Unto Trouble" Reward: Springfield Rifle Prerequisite Mission: "A French Man, A Welshman And An Irishman" Walkthrough: Speak to Irish at Benedict Point, then hop on your horse and follow him down up to the mine at Gaptooth Breach. Stay close to Irish until you arrive, and then kill everyone you see milling about near the exterior of the mine. Follow the map marker into the mining cart, taking out all of the enemies with your rifle, preferably, from behind cover. Fight your way to the mine's entrance, and explore the interior shafts for the Gatling gun. Keep an eye out for bundles of TNT--shoot them from a distance to take out guards and, you know, because blowing crap up is fun. When the mine shaft forks, take the left path, and keep veering left. You'll come to a small wooden fence over- looking the main mine area: use it for cover to pick off as many of the miners as you can manage. Then keep heading through the passage, down into the mine core. Examine the mine cart marked on your mini-map to trigger a scene. Now, time to backtrack a bit. Head back to the vertical shaft with all the scaffolding. Use the mine cart to rise up and out of the mine, and push on down the hill. Watch out for explosive barrels on the tracks, and keep your guns handy. When you get to your next waypoint, Marston will load up the Gatling gun into Irish's wagon, and the mission will end. "On Shaky's Ground" Reward: ??? Prerequisite Mission: "Man Is Born Unto Trouble" Walkthrough: Meet Irish at the saloon in Thieves Landing. Things aren't exactly moving according to the plan. Follow Irish to the shipping yard (where the big warehouse is) to meet Shaky. The front door is locked, so you'll have to take the back way in. Climb up the ladders onto the roof of the building, and enter through the window on the opposite side. There are a bunch of outlaws inside, so take 'em out. Shaky's held hostage by three bandits, so you'll want to use Dead Eye targeting to kill all three of them at once. Now you'll have to fight your way into the warehouse yard. Keep an eye out for boxes of TNT to shoot. Open the large gates and go to the US Cavalry crate with the ammo, taking out all of the enemies as you go. Once you've loaded up the crate, hop in Irish's wagon to head for MacFarlane Ranch. Keep an eye out for the doors where the outlaws spawn. After everyone outside is dead, Marshall Johnson and his deputies come on in to help. You'll have to leave the Gatling gun behind and move deeper inside the fort on foot. Keep an eye open for boxes of TNT! After killing all the bandits, meet up with the lawmen and watch the scene. Use the rifle to shoot at the rebel riflemen attacking the camp. Once they're all dead, go back to the blockade to support Espinoza's men. Fight your way through the valley with the soldiers: it's best here to switch to using a rifle. After clearing out the valley, follow the soldiers into the ruins. Numerous rebels will attack: gun them all down. After you go through the tunnel, the train will be ambushed by rebels. Some will board the train, so keep an eye out for rebels approaching you on foot. When you finally reach the army camp, speak to the base commander to end the mission. Welcome to the very last story mission of the game! (Though
there is additional story content in the very last stranger
task). The Ranch will be attacked by soldiers: use cover
to defend your family and your home. Once you've driven
off the first wave of the attack, go inside the house to
trigger a scene with the Marston family.
Take out the next wave of soldiers from the front porch,
using the side of the house or the crate at the edge of the
porch as cover. Sniper rifles work well here. Multiple waves
of soldiers will assault your position, coming at you from
both the North and the South, so you'll need to kill quickly
and efficiently.
Defend Abigail and Jack as they flee toward the barn. Use the
conveniently placed rocks for cover and take out the attacking
soldiers. Now, either climb up the silo or join your family
on foot and take out the next wave of attackers. When you
kill off the assault, run inside the barn to meet back up with
Abigail and Jack. After the scene, you'll control Abigail.
Ride back to the barn to view the final scene of the game.
Congratulations! You have now finished Red Dead Redemption!
Keep in mind that you may continue to play the game, doing
anything you were not able to do before--except for the
stranger's task, "I Know You." You will also now have
access to the final stranger's task, "Remember My Family,"
which includes additional story content. Upon completing

As you explore the world of Red Dead Redemption, you'll occasionally
encounter strangers--men and women of the west in need of your help. These
encounters offer side-missions, peripheral to the main story of the game,
and help to inject a lot of humor, suspense and interest to the game.
The tasks you'll be asked to complete for the stranger missions may at
times be difficult, but are always very straightforward. As such, I have
decided not to include any walk-throughs for these quests, as I think it
better to leave you scratching your head for thirty seconds (tops, I promise)
than to spoil anything. Believe me: many of these quests are quite
entertaining.
Here you will find the titles of all the Stranger quests, where to go to
initiate each quest, and minor notes that may prove helpful when you
work to complete the quest. Stranger tasks will frequently present you
with choices, which can dramatically effect your fame and honor stats.
NOTE: sometimes you will not immediately be told where to go to continue
a stranger's quest: in such cases, simply wait. Eventually, a marker
will appear on the map directing you toward the next event.

> > > > ~ Bounty Hunting ~ < < < <
/ / /__/ RDR-06 \__\ \ \
/__/ \__\
After completing the mission, "Political Realities in Armadillo," you'll be
able to hunt bounties. Check the train station for a wanted poster, examine
it if you like, and take it to accept the bounty.
Once you've accepted a bounty, a red skull will appear on your map,
indicating the bounty's position. Bounties are typically defended by a
number of fellow outlaws, and the red skull makes it easier to determine
which enemies are safe to kill, and which one to be careful of.
Once you find your bounty and eliminate his defenders, you can either kill
him for a lesser reward, or try to take him alive for a greater reward. To
capture a bounty alive, you'll need to have the Lasso. Disable the bounty
(by either killing his horse while he is mounted, or shooting him in the
leg) and lasso him. Keep the bounty tethered and approach: you will be able
to hog-tie the bounty.
When a bounty is hog-tied, you need to sling him onto your horse and take
him into town. Be careful: outlaws will attack you on the way back, in an
effort to save their comrade. They will not follow too close to town, so
be fast, and keep a steady aim.
All of the bounty targets, along with the pertinent data, is listed below.

> > > > ~ Activities ~ < < < <
/ / /__/ RDR-07 \__\ \ \

In addition to the hunting bounties, completing story missions and helping
out strangers, Red Dead Redemption offers a number of other activities with
which to pass the time. These range from jobs--simple mini-games you can
play to earn money--to random events, which are random encounters
in the game world.
___ ___
\ \ / /
> > ~ Jobs ~ < <
/__/ RDR-07A \__\
Jobs are simple tasks, or mini-games, that you can repeat any number of times
to earn money. There are only two different jobs to choose from, found in a
total of five locations. In order to earn 100% game completion, you will
need to complete each of the jobs in each area at least once.
Horsebreaking (Chuparosa)
Horsebreaking (Ridgewood Farm)
Night Watch (Blackwater)
Night Watch (Chuparosa)
Night Watch (MacFarlane Rang)
Horsebreaking involves taming a wild steed and then riding the horse into
a barn. Night Watch involves patrolling the grounds and dealing with any
trouble you might encounter--from horse thieves and bandits to foxes getting
in the chicken coop.
You cannot begin Horsebreaking jobs until you have completed the mission,
"Wild Horses, Tamed Passions." You cannot complete Night Watch jobs until
you have completed the mission, "New Friends, Old Problems."
JOB TIPS
Horsebreaking
First you'll need to lasso the horse. Once you've got it,
keep holding down L2/LT to keep the beast tethered. Once
you get close enough, you'll be able to mount the equine.
The trick now is to maintain your balance while the bronco
bucks wildly back and forth. Just keep an eye on your
position on top of the horse, and use the left analog
stick to keep yourself level.
Night Watch
Very easy: stay close to the dog. When the dog starts barking,
that means he's spotted trouble. Remember: you don't always
have to kill troublemakers. Some fights can be avoiding simply
by shooting into the air, drawing your weapon, or by using
your lasso to restrain the disorderly element.

\ \ / /
> > ~ Random Events ~ < <
/__/ RDR-07B \__\
While traveling the world, you'll often hear or see strange things. More
often than not, you'll hear the sound of gunfire or screaming. If you follow
those sounds, you may find a blue circle on your mini-map marking an ambient
challenge. These challenges are random, recurrent, and time-sensitive. You
have to be both quick and posses sound judgment to complete them.

/__/ RDR-07C \__\
When you commit a crime within sight of law enforcement, you will become
a wanted man. If you commit a crime and no one is around to see you, you
will not face any consequences. If, however, your crime is witnessed, you
must either kill the witnesses (marked on your mini-map with a special
icon) or become a wanted man.
When you are a wanted man, you will be hounded by lawmen and bounty hunters.
The greater the bounty, the greater your harassment. When wanted, you can
either surrender to the law, attempt to evade capture, bribe lawmen (can only
be done with your weapons holstered) or remove your bounty at a telegraph
office, either by paying it off yourself or by using a pardon letter.

|_______________________________|_______________|
Each town or settlement can only sustain a certain number of lawmen. If you
kill all of that number, no new lawmen will attack you unless you begin
committing new crimes. Each area's limits are as follows:
Armadillo 20 Lawmen
Ridgewood Farm 5 Lawmen
Coots Chapel 6 Lawmen
Benedict Point 6 Lawmen
Rathskeller Fork 5 Lawmen
MacFarlane Ranch 6 Lawmen
Plainview 7 Lawmen
Escalera 30 Lawmen (+10 soldiers)
Las Hermanas 8 Lawmen
Agave Viejo 5 Lawmen
Chuparosa 20 Lawmen
El Matadero 9 Lawmen (+ 5 soldiers)
El Presido 0 Lawmen (+12 soldiers)
Blackwater 50 Lawmen
Pacific Union Railroad Camp 7 Lawmen
Manzanita Post 7 Lawmen
Furthermore, once your bounty reaches a certain amount, vigilante gangs
will begin to target you, hoping to bring you in for your bounty. The size
of these posses vary depending on the size of your bounty.
Bounty >$ 150 3-4 person posse
Bounty >$1700 6 person posse (+1 dog)
Bounty >$3700 8 person posse (+2 dogs)
Bounty >$5000 10 person posse (+3 dogs)
Bounty >$7000 12 person posse (+4 dogs)
Like lawmen, you can surrender to the posse to be captured alive by holstering
your weapon and standing still. Similar to posses, you will also be targeted
by bounty hunters, when your bounty reaches the same intervals.
Bounty >$ 150 2 bounty hunters (+1 dog)
Bounty >$1700 3 bounty hunters (+1 dog)
Bounty >$3700 4 bounty hunters (+2 dogs)
Bounty >$5000 5 bounty hunters (+3 dogs)
Bounty >$7000 6 bounty hunters (+4 dogs)
Like lawmen and posses, you can only survive encounters with bounty hunters
by either bribing them, killing them all, or surrendering.

> > ~ Dueling ~ < <
/__/ RDR-07D \__\
"When the duel screen loads, you'll see your enemy & his name. Afterward,
the camera will slowly zoom in from behind you. At a certain point, the
words DRAW come out & the screen goes dead-eye mode (orange screen color).
Note: This doesn't mean your enemy has drawn yet."
Feeding The Meter:
"The meters on the right side of the screen belong to you (blue) &
your enemy (red). Whoever fills theirs more will win. When it says
DRAW, use the Left Trigger or down then up on the Right Stick to
bring up your cross hairs. using RB or RT, you'll "paint" your enemy
with marks which fill your meter."
Aim Small Miss Small:
"WATCH THE CROSS HAIRS. They will flash red to white, reflecting
Marston's aim... Simple phrase: Red=Dead White=Tight. Red will raise
your meter a little, white will fill it 25% - 100% depending where
you aim."
Hard Target:
"Painting certain areas will fill your meter more. 2 can fill it to
%100 & end the duel immediately if you paint 'em White: His Gun or
Head. Just aiming at the head won't work, though. I've found you have
to aim for the upper head area (forehead or eyes) for 100%. As for
the gun, plain & simple: Perfectly paint his gun white with one shot.
Painting his hand can fill your meter about 75% (you'll probably
still win)."
Disturbing the Piece:
"You get +100 Fame & gain Honor by disarming him, but not all
opponents can be disarmed. These are usually story-related character
& some stranger-related ones (specifically the Wronged Woman & Eva
in Peril)."
"A telltale sign is if you paint their guns / hands & your Meter
does not rise. Even a badly painted gun / hand will raise your
meter by small amounts. If this happens, make a mad dash for
their foreheads!"
Timing Is Everything:
"You'll notice that after DRAW comes up, the camera continues to
zoom in. Drawing will stop the camera. Drawing first gives you
more time to paint your enemy but at the cost of a smaller target
area, making it more difficult to accurately paint a specific body
part. Letting them draw first gives you less time to paint him, but
a bigger area to paint."
Opponent behavior:
"Everyone you duel is different in terms of Nerves, Speed & Accuracy.
Unfortunately for experts, Rockstar didn't make them more varied (no
ultimate challenge). But basically, Nerves is how SOON they draw,
Speed is how FAST they draw & aim (this is the real timer for you),
& Accuracy is how much their meter rises with each shot they place
on you. These affect the duel: Opponents who are nervous will draw
early, hampering their aim. These guys are usually easy as their
meters will never be fuller than yours if you can place 1 good shot.
However, if you get a nervous enemy with a fast hand, you'd better
be quicker at placing that shot."
Tips:
"Any duel can be won by mashing the RT, but to get those badass
one shots watch your opponent's draw speed. This will give you
an estimation on how much time you'll have to "wait & paint".
The minute he goes for his gun you'll see how fast he is. For fun,
on opponents who can be disarmed, shoot his gun then his hat."
"I haven't played the multiplayer extensively yet as I'm obsessed
with the Single Player, so I don't know if there are Online Duels. I
hear there aren't. If they ever implemented them, this system would
work extremely well (I think they should speed it up, though, 'cause
painting is a little too easy)."

Gang hideouts are small, sequestered encampments of bandits, highwaymen and
all manner of nasty individuals. These small communities are typically found
in abandoned forts or towns. Raiding gang hideouts and defeating all of the
members net you numerous rewards, from money and ammunition to new weapons,
honor, fame and new outfits.
In order to obtain 100% completion, you will need to raid every gang hideout
at least once. After you've cleared out a hideout, that area will remained
abandoned for a while. But, after a certain amount of time, the gang will
return and you'll be able to clear out the hideout all over again.
___ ___

Reward: Winchester Repeater
Prerequisite: Complete the mission, "New Friends, Old Problems."
Objectives: 1. Save the captured lawman.
2. Kill all of the outlaws in the town.
3. Kill all of the outlaws near the mansion.
Walkthrough:
Once you get close enough to the town, several outlaws will appear
and start shooting at you. Most of them have pretty good cover, so
you'll want to find something to duck behind. Keep an eye on your
map so that you don't get outflanked, and take them all out. Remember:
some outlaws will hide inside ruined buildings, or shoot at you
from second-floor balconies. Once you've killed all of the enemies
in the town, free the sheriff. Then head up to the manor. Kill the
outlaws on the porch, then swing around the left side of the mansion
and go down into the cellar. Kill the outlaws in the cellar, then
go up the stairs into the main floor and kill the few remaining
outlaws.

Reward: Volcanic Pistol
Prerequisite: Complete the mission, "New Friends, Old Problems."
Objectives: 1. Meet to rancher near Twin Rocks.
2. Defeat the Walton gang.
3. Rescue the rancher's daughter.
Walkthrough:
Speak to the crouching Rancher to begin the mission. Remember to use
cover, to be patient, and to watch out for gunmen firing at you from
the rooftop of the house. When you find the rancher's daughter, use
Dead Eye targeting to kill the last gang member.

Objectives: 1. Kill the Bollard Gang members on the road to Pike's Basin.
2. Kill the Bollard Gang members inside Pike's Basin.
3. Kill the Bollard Gang members near Pike's Basin's exit.
Walkthrough:
Clearing this hideout plays much like the original mission where you
helped Marshal Johnson clean up all the bad guys and save the
ranchers, only this time you don't have a squad of lawmen to back you
up--but on the plus side, the only thing you have to concern yourself
with this time around is killing everything in your path.

Reward: Springfield Rifle
Treasure Hunter Outfit Scrap
Prerequisite: Complete the mission, "Man Is Born Unto Trouble."
Objectives: 1. Save Floyd.
2. Go inside the mine and open the crate.
3. Exit the mine.
Walkthrough:
Pretty simple, as all of these missions are: kill everything. Watch
out for enemies lurking in high places. Be patient and use cover.
Or, hell, just run up guns blazing if you're with a group online.
When you try to make your way out of the mine after nabbing the
treasure, you'll be attacked by more enemies, so don't let your
guard down until you're safely out of the mine.

Reward: Henry Repeater
Prerequisite: Complete the mission, "We Shall Be Together In Paradise."
Objectives: 1. Offer to help the general.
2. Burn down the targets.
Walkthrough:
Grab as many Fire Bottles as your inventory can old and make your way
to the rebel camp. It's probably a good idea to take out as many of
the rebels from as great a distance as you can, just be careful not
to kill any of the Mexican Army soldiers. Your targets will appear on
the mini-map as yellow circles. Use the Fire Bottles to blow 'em all
up, then go back to the general to earn some money and honor.

Objectives: 1. Climb over the wall.
2. Open up the fort's doors from within.
3. Kill all of the outlaws.
4. Kill the Bandito leaders.
5. Find the treasure.
Walkthrough:
Once you get over the wall, you'll need to take cover and kill all of
the bad guys on the wall. When you can, go down to the gate and
examine it to open up the fort's doors. When you work on exterminating
everyone you see, keep an eye open for boxes to loot. When you've
killed everyone and everything in sight, head for Fort Mercer's
treasure room, marked on your map with a yellow circle.

Objectives: 1. Kill all of the outlaws in the town.
2. Rescue the deputy.
Walkthrough:
Talk to the lawman by the East entrance to Tesoro Azul to trigger
this mission. Approach from the west and take out the guards.
Try to kill as many outlaws as you can from ~outside~ the town before
you venture inside. As per the usual, your sole goal here is carnage.
As with most hostage situations, using Dead Eye targeting will
make saving the deputy quite easy.

Walkthrough:
Speak to the sheriff, near the large boulder in Solomon's Folly.
Take out all of the gang members, then ride the wagon back to
Armadillo--you will be attacked by more of the Walton gang, so keep
your wits about you. If either the banker or the sheriff die, you
will fail this mission. Other than that, it's pretty simple, pretty
fast, and pretty bloody.

> > ~ Skinnable Items ~ < <
/__/ RDR-10E \__\
After you kill an animal, you can skin it to obtain various materials that
can then be sold to shopkeepers for a profit. Some animals are more common
in certain areas than in others, so selling animal parts in an area where
an animal is rare will net more profit than selling those parts in areas
where the animal is common.
Included in this table is the default sales price, as well as the locations
where the item can be sold for 50% more than it's original value (1.5x
multiplier) or 100% more than it's original value (2x multiplier).

Poker
Locations:
MacFarlane Ranch, Armadillo, Thieves Landing, Casa Madrugada,
Chuparosa, Blackwater, Blackwater Hotel.
Prerequisite:
Complete the mission, "This is Armadillo, USA."
Tips:
Should go without saying, but if you have a crappy hand, fold.
If you've got a decent hand, stay in the game, but fold if
the other players seem confident (make large bets). It's
possible they're bluffing, but uncommon, so take a risk at
your own peril. When you have a good hand, don't be too
greedy. If you place too large a bet, you increase the odds
that another player will fold. Make smaller bets to slowly
increase the size of the pot. As for cheating... don't do it.
The risks are much higher than the reward... though, I guess
if you're in the hankering for a duel, you may as well let
yourself get caught cheating.

parts good judgment and luck. Just be careful, and try to
get the magic number. Like poker, the more you play, the
better you'll get--so I urge, simply, practice.
Five Finger Fillet
Locations:
Manzanita Post, Armadillo, Escalera, Thieves Landing,
Torquemada.
Prerequisite:
Complete the mission, "This is Armadillo, USA."
Tips:
Memorize the button pattern when your opponent has his turn:
when you're up, don't bother looking at the button prompts,
they'll only slow you down. Be quick, and be precise. If you
lose more than three times in a row, take a break.
Horseshoes
Locations:
MacFarlane Ranch, Rathskeller Fork, Las Hermanas.
Prerequisite:
Complete the mission, "Women and Cattle."
Tips:
Dear God, is this a pain in the ass. Overcomplicated an
unintuitive to the extreme--the only blemish in an otherwise
flawless game. But I digress. Odds are you are playing
Horseshoes for one reason and one reason only--to get a
ringer, and earn the requisite trophy/achievement. Good
Luck!
...Yeah, I'll give you some tips. Don't worry your pretty
little face about it. There are two things to keep in mind:
first, you need to aim a bit to the side of the pole. Second,
the time-of-release. Release the horseshoe too late, and it
will sail out-of-bounds. Release too early, and it will fall
limply to the ground by your feet, a clear indicator of your
shriveled dignity and ability. Just keep trying and trying
and trying, and one day you'll get that ringer. Probably.
Liar's Dice
Locations:
Thieves Landing, Casa Madrugada, Escalera.
Prerequisite:
Complete the mission, "Old Swindler Blues."
Tips:
Liar's Dice is a whole lot of nothing, being almost wholly
reliant upon luck. The goal here is to call the bluff when
you think the words are a lie. Look at your dice when it's
your turn, and if you've got nothing that was said, call
the bluff. It can be a pain in the ass, but it's simple,
so keep at it 'till you get the hang of things.
Arm Wrestling
Locations:
Pacific Union Railroad Camp, Plainview, El Matadero, Agave
Viejo.
Prerequisite:
Complete the mission, "We Shall Be Together in Paradise."
Tips:
Keep an eye on your opponent to counter his actions. Whenever
you can, recharge your strength meter. Keep it as close to
filled as you can, and you'll be alright.

Red Dead Redemption contains a very deep and involving multiplayer element,
adding an entirely new layer to the game. Expect it to be just as utterly
enthralling as the single player side of things. This section is intended
to cover all of the pertinent aspects of the multiplayer game, and all the
little details you may want to find out as you duke it out online.
___ ___
\ \ / /
> > ~ Free Roam & PVP ~ < <
/__/ RDR-12A \__\
Online multiplayer in Red Dead Redemption is split between two modes. PVP
is much as you would expect--player versus player of the typical, visceral
variety. Free Roam, however, is something wholly different: Free Roam grants
all the players in the game unfettered access across the whole of the game
world (sans mini-games), to act as they please.
FREE ROAM
Clearly the most interesting side of online play, Free Roam is exactly
what it sounds like: you and your friends are given the freedom to go
wherever you want, and do whatever you want. Anywhere on the map.
Sadly, you cannot play any of the mini-games, so no online-poker.
Up to 15 different players can join a Free Roam game, and you can
further divide into groups, or posses, of up to 8 players. When you're
in a posse, you'll be able to instantly-travel to the posse's leader,
which can be very, very handy in so large a world. Players can team
up and fight each other, go free-for-all, or opt not to fight at
all. The point, simply, is freedom.
PVP
When you're in a Free Roam game, you'll spot markers on the ground,
indicating competitive matches--PVP play. Approach the marker to
trigger a PVP match. There are a number of different PVP matches
to try: shootouts, gang shootouts, hold your own matches, grab the bag
matches and gold rushes. I urge you to try 'em all at least once.

Each time you level up, you are presented with a new title, and possibly
a reward--a weapon and/or a horse. Red Dead Redemption currently has a level
cap of 50. The experience needed to reach each level in the game, as well
as all of the level-dependent rewards are fully listed in the table below.

Challenges are, well, background tasks that net no enviable reward, and do
little to effect gameplay. They simply confer experience and titles, and
offer a distracting way to pass the time. Essentially, they're exactly
like Trophies or Achievements. There are several challenges available in
the single-player side of Red Dead Redemption, however most of them are
found online, offering an incentive for vastly prolonged play.
Please note that you cannot complete a challenge until you have access to
that challenge (check the menus). So, for example, if you collect 20 desert
sage plants before finishing the first level of the Survivalist challenge,
you will need to pick an additional 6 desert sage in order to complete
the second level of the challenge,

There is currently no Downloadable Content for the game. Read Dead Redemption
will have DLC at some future date, but when that will be and what it might
be are not yet known. As soon as more information becomes available, this
section will be updated.
I do realize that there is some "DLC" that is exclusive to new copies of the
game pre-ordered through various retailers, however I will only include DLC
in this FAQ that is available to EVERYONE, through either the Playstation

organization of this FAQ somewhat tricky. Thus I've created this section to
gather up all of the extraneous information not contained in any of the

of what, precisely, you need to do in the game to attain the vaunted 100%

Manifest Destiny
Buy an Evans Repeater in Blackwater. Go to the Southern end of the
Great Plains to find a group of buffalo. Use Dead Eye and paint each
Buffalo with 2 bullets each and fire. This way, you can kill up to
11 Buffalo at once.

> > ~ Bug List & Workarounds ~ < <
/__/ RDR-17D \__\
Though a very well-crafted game, there are a number of bugs that can occur,
which I have taken the liberty of listing here. If there is a way to work
around a specific bug, I, too, have that workaround here mentioned. Be warned
that this sub-section may contain spoilers.
Random Freezing: Game will freeze at random.
Solution: None. You will have to do a hard-reset of
your system.
Free Roam Bug: Characters and objects become invisible at random.
Solution: None. You can still target invisible
objects with automatic targeting active.
Free Roam Bug: Character becomes stuck in place while planting explosives in
Pike's Basin.
Solution: None. You will have to either die or quit
the game.
FFA Bug: Trying to use cover in a free-for-all match causes you to fly
up into the air, and then fall to your death.
Solution: None.
Single Player Bug: During the attack on Fort Mercer, the sequence after using
the Gatling gun will not load, effectively breaking the main
story.
Solution: None. You will have to quit the game without
saving to proceed.
Single Player Bug: Story missions will not load. The game will not be broken
per se, as you'll still be able to do other things... but the
story mission itself will never be playable, effectively
preventing you from finishing the game.
Solution: None.
Bounty Bug: Moe Van Barr will not appear as a bounty.
Solution: None. Some players, however, have reported
that Moe Van Barr will only appear as a bounty
if you shoot and kill the outlaw in the first
mission with Marshall Leigh Johnson.
Poker Bug: Opponent textures temporarily disappear.
Solution: None.
Money Loss Bug: Character money will be reduced to $0 when re-spawning or
upon the completion of a mission.
Solution: None. This bug only seems to occur during
respawning, or the completion of one of
Reyes' missions.
Terrain Bugs: Numerous bugs involving the player character, or other in-game
objects falling "under" the terrain.
Solution: None.

> > > > ~ Frequently Asked Questions ~ < < < <
/ / /__/ RDR-18 \__\ \ \
/__/ \__\
Q: How is Red Dead Redemption any different than "Grand Theft Auto in the
West?"
A: For starters, Rockstar has a very different work ethic and standard of
quality than Bethesda. Joking aside, Red Dead Redemption plays similarly
to Grand Theft Auto IV, to be sure, but it has an entirely different
feel to it. Rockstar's sandbox style gameplay is really a far better suit
for the wilderness of the West than the bustle of a city, and it shows.
There are more activities to do, more places to explore, more people to
interact with and--perhaps most of all--you're not forced to muck around
with the scum of the Earth. Always a plus, in my book.
Q: I need to kill a certain kind of animal, but I can't find it anywhere.
Where should I be looking?
A: Check your map. You'll see pictures of all the animals you can hunt
near to the locations where those animals spawn. Keep in mind that it's
possible to search through an area and not find a single one that you're
looking for, only to come across a half dozen an hour later by accident.
Q: What differences are there between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Red
Dead Redemption?
A: The Playstation 3 version of the game is technically inferior the the
Xbox 360 version, displaying at a slightly lower resolution and utlilizing
cruder anti-aliasing techniques. The PS3 version does, however, include
content not found on the 360 version--special challenges, outfits, and
a hideout, Solomon's Folly. Both versions of the game look and play very,
very similar to one another, so much so that unless you know precisely
what to look for, odds are you'd think them identical.
Q: Where do I find _____ animals?
Look at your goddamn map. See those pictures of animals? Look there. Now,
what you should NOT do is get off your horse and sit on your ass by those
markers, simply waiting for your prey to come to you. You're HUNTING,
remember? So look around. Also keep in mind that different animals are more
or less common at different times of the day. Keep in mind that many of the
animals can be found all over the place--particularly vermin. I said at
the begining of the guide that this wasn't intended to "hold your hand"
as you play through the game. Telling you where to find armadillos (the
entire southern portion of the whole bleeing map, for instance) counts
as hand-holding.
Q: Where's my horse? I can't find it anywhere!
A: Your horse is dead. Or stuck on terrain. If a blue icon appears when
you whistle, that's your horse--if he doesn't run to you, he's stuck,
so you'll need to go to him. If no icon appears, you horse is dead. If
you have a dead horse, either examine your horse deed to spawn another,
or steal a horse (tether it if you want to "own" it permanently).
Q: How do you requisition the services of a 'woman of the night?'
A: You cannot.
Q: How do you seduce cattle?
A: Please stop emailing me.
Q: What is the "nudity and strong sexual content" mentioned on the ESRB label,
and what does it entail?
A: There are generally two different people asking this question: the horny
prepubescent looking for some mild stimulation, and the adult/parent
wondering whether or not a game is suitable for children of a certan age.
To the minors, I will say that RDR will not fulfill your needs. There are
only new instances of nudity in game--rear nudity of a corpse and a single
(blatantly gratuitous) sex scene near the middle of the game.
To the adults, I I will say that the sexual content in RDR is very, very
minor. Neither of the two scenes I previously described would be effected
by the censors of American television, which already has more constraints
heaped upon it than British or Japanese television. To compare it to a
movie's rating, think of it as PG-13.
Furthermore, to the parents, I will will say this: one day, I imagine you
hope to see grandchildren, right? So you accept that one day your kids will
have sex. So why be so paranoid at hiding/withholding media with sexual
content? Conversely, I imagine that, no matter the circumstance, you don't
want to see your child ever become a brutal murderer. Does it not stand to
reason, then, that your primary concern should be the level of violence,
not sexual content?
I say so because there seems to be a great deal of hypocrisy here,
particularly among parents hailing from American shores. And regardless
of your stance on violence and/or sex in gaming, I should hope that you
apply the same measure of diligence and censorship to your child's games
that you also apply to his or her television habits, and the books that
he or she reads.
Q: Why did my horse die?
A: Because you shot it. Or someone else shot it. Or it was mauled by a cougar.
Any number of things, really--just because you didn't see anything does not
mean there was nothing ~to~ see.
Q: Some guys were shooting at me, but when I shot them I got a wanted level.
Why?
A: Odds are they weren't shooting at you at all. Odds are they were lawmen
chasing a criminal, whom you did not see. When you see people shooting
at each other, without seeing any red enemy icons on the map, that means
they are NOT attacking you. If you want to get involved, look around
to see which gunmen are wearing badges before you open fire.
Q: Why isn't this FAQ finished yet?
A: Hah! Joke's on you--it is finished!
(yeah, I know it'd be easier to just delete this question, but it's my
FAQ and I don't wanna).
Q: Would you accept help with this Guide?
A: Almost certainly. If you can contribute something (several people have
already done so) simply e-mail me. Anything, no matter so small, is
fine. So long as it's not information I already have, I'll be more
than glad to use your information and credit you accordingly.
Q: I've noticed that several people have contributed information to this
guide. What happens if two people submit the same information?
A: In that case I would (and already have) credit both people. I typically
update the FAQ every week, and so long as you're sending me something
that's not in the FAQ currently posted on GameFAQs, provided I haven't
ascertained the information on my own, I will credit you. If ten people
people email me to say X number should be Y, I credit all ten people.
Q: What should I do if I'm unable to find out what I want in your guide?
A: You may either email me (xxxxxxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx) or ask on the Red Dead
Redemption BBS (PS3 side) at GameFAQs.com.
Q: Why didn't you respond to my email?
A: There are two possible reasons. First, it's possible that your email was
caught in my spam filter. I generally scan through my spam folder before
purging it, but it's entirely possible I deleted a “realEemail by
accident. It's also very possible that I HAVE responded to your email,
and you simply haven't received the reply yet. Email isn't always
instantaneous, ya' know. I read every email I see and always reply
(if necessary). Before re-sending an email, or emailing me again to ask
me whether or not I revived your first email, please... wait a day or
two.
I also make it a habit not to reply to any emails that are unintelligible,
rude, or asking for information that is clearly within the FAQ.
Q: Why is your email address blocked out?
Over the past several months, I have recieved hundreds of emails. Most
of them have been very polite, and I have done my best to reply. But
having email access to me is a privelege, and it has been abused. I
am not here so you can email me hateful diatribes, full of poory-written
profanity, insulting me for "daring" to have a copyright notification
in this FAQ. I am not here to be emailled with declarations of
theft, nor am I here to have insults hurled at me across the Internet
for some minor ommission. No, the FAQ doesn't tell you how and where to
find each horse--just play the damned game! Honestly, I should have
known better: when I began the FAQ, I was stuck at home and had lots of
time on my hands: I managed to bet a big chunk of it done and posted
within 24 hours of the game's release... only to recieve hate mail for
not having posted a 100% complete FAQ.
Anyway, for everyone else, who acted as a competent human being might,
I apologize. But, simply put, even just one senselessly assinine email
out of fifty is one too many. I've neither the time nor the patience to
wade through such stupidity.
