Introduction/About This Guide ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone. Welcome to my achievement guide for "Wheel of Fortune" for the Xbox 360. This is my fourth FAQ; I've also done achievement guides for "Nicktoons MLB," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Final Fantasy XII: Lightning Returns." Go ahead and check those out if you wish. Before I get going, I will say that if you have questions about this guide or just want to tell me how awesome I am, you can e-mail me. I'll put a contact address at the end of this guide. If you do e-mail, just be sure to title it "Wheel of Fortune" or something like that; otherwise I'll probably delete it without knowing what it is. For what it's worth, this guide will probably look better on a desktop computer as opposed to a mobile device. Sometimes there are weird line breaks when you're browsing on a phone, but they don't affect the info contained here in any way. The purpose of this guide is to aid gamers in getting all of the achievements for "Wheel of Fortune" in a straightforward and timely fashion. As far as difficulty goes, none is too bad, but you will have to put in some serious play time to get a few (and get lucky on a few others). I will focus mostly on strategies that have worked for me as well as info I've seen elsewhere that have been successful for other gamers. "Wheel of Fortune" has 45 achievements worth a total of 1000 points. Two are online-only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Getting Started ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unless you've been living under that proverbial rock your entire life, you should be quite familiar with the TV show "Wheel of Fortune." It's been on forever, and the basic premise of the program has never changed in that time: Spin a big colorful wheel, guess letters, solve puzzles, win money. It's a simple and family-friendly setup that will entertain just about anyone. There have been several video game versions of "Wheel of Fortune" over the years, so odds are you'll already be used to the feeling of being a virtual contestant before you even pick up your Xbox controller. There's not a lot of planning involved in going for the achievements in this game, and you'll pop many of them by just playing and enjoying yourself. There is a settings screen before you begin each round; you'll do your game adjustments from there. It's pretty self-explanatory but I'll break it down a little more in-depth when I talk about the individual achievements. A few of the achievements will have you bashing your head against a wall if you don't utilize a second controller and a "dummy" player two. When playing in solo mode, you will only have a limited number of turns to complete each puzzle, which doesn't allow sufficient opportunity if the wheel isn't cooperating. There are also two online achievements for this game, so you'll need a friend to help get those. They're easy, though; finding a second party is the hard part. A few of these achievements will involve a fairly significant time investment (such as the one for winning 50 games) or some luck (such as the million- dollar achievement) but the game is enjoyable enough that it shouldn't feel much like a chore. Just pace yourself, and go do something else if you start feeling burned out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Achievements and Strategies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. "My First Puzzle!" - Solved a puzzle! Advice: Self-explanatory. Just solve a puzzle and it'll pop. 2. "Showboat" - Performed a gesture Advice: When it's your turn, press "RB" to perform a gesture. The gestures are pretty lame, but hey. 3. "It's a Toss Up!" - Won a Toss Up Advice: During the course of a round, you'll get three "Toss Ups," where the letters will fill in by themselves. Ring in and solve the puzzle to get this. It's super easy when you're playing solo. 4. "Dress For Success" - Changed clothes in the contestant creator Advice: From the menu, go into "Contestant Creator" and switch out your clothing. Exit from there. 5. "We Have a Winner!" - Won your first game Advice: Self-explanatory. Win a game on any difficulty. 6. "Taking It Easy" - Won a game on Easy difficulty Advice: You'll be playing most of your games on the "Easy" difficulty anyway, so this should come right away. 7. "Taking on the World" - Finished an online game Advice: Here's where you need a pal to hook up with on Xbox Live. You don't have to win, just finish the game. 8. "We Still Have a Winner!" - Won five games Advice: Self-explanatory. Just win five games on any difficulty. This will be the first achievement in a long 50-game trudge. 9. "A $2K Round!" - Won $2,000 in one round Advice: Self-explanatory. Just win $2,000 during one puzzle. Very easy to do. 10. "We Really Have A Winner!" - Won 10 games Advice: Self-explanatory. Win 10 games on any difficulty. 11. "What Should I Pick?" - Looked at the Used Letter Board Advice: When it's your turn, scroll up to the Used Letter Board option and press "A." 12. "Some Wheel Competition" - Won an online game Advice: Here's where you need a pal on Xbox Live. Play through and win the game. 13. "I'd Like to Solve the Puzzle" - Solved a puzzle without guessing letters on your turn Advice: You'll need a "dummy" player or computer opponent for this. Don't guess any letters when it's your turn; just choose the option to solve the puzzle (and get it right) without spinning or buying vowels. 14. "I'll Spin" - Spun the wheel five times in a row Advice: Not too hard. Just spin the wheel five times straight without landing on Bankrupt or Lose a Turn, and without whiffing on any letter guesses. 15. "A $5K Round!" - Won $5,000 in one round Advice: Self-explanatory. Just win $5,000 on one puzzle. 16. "The Minigame Champ!" - Became a Minigame Champ Advice: Here's another spot where you need a "dummy" player. Make sure the minigames are turned on in the main menu before you start, and win more than your "dummy" does. This will pop after the last minigame of the round. 17. "Get Out of There!" Lost a prize wedge or tag by Bankrupt Advice: It's abnormally easy to land on Bankrupt in this game. This should require no effort whatsoever. 18. "I Like Minigames" - Played every minigame Advice: Another "dummy" player achievement. Just play all three different types of minigames. 19. "Guess Again" - Guessed five letters in a row Advice: When it's your turn, just guess five letters in a row correctly without losing a turn or getting Bankrupt. Vowels and consonants both count for this. 20. "I'd Like to Buy Them All" - Bought every vowel during a puzzle Advice: Buy every vowel in one puzzle. It's easier than it sounds; the frequency is usually E, A, I, O, and then U for most puzzles. 21. "Not My Day" - Landed on Bankrupt twice in a row Advice: Easier than it sounds. It's not tough to hit Bankrupt; just do it twice in a row. If you're having trouble, try manipulating the wheel. Once you land on a Bankrupt, try to spin again with your power meter about half-full. That should get you somewhere in the area of where you started before spinning. It's not an exact science, but this shouldn't take much effort. 22. "Wheel Pro!" - Won 25 games Advice: Self-explanatory. Just win 25 games in any mode. Check the Player Stats screen in the main menu to see how you're doing. 23. "A $10K Round!" - Won $10,000 in one round Advice: Here's where the "win X amount in one round" achievements start to get a little tougher. You can get this by getting both 1/2 car tags or the Mystery Wedge--or you can check out the "A $35K Round!" achievement for some more help. 24. "A Small Fortune!" - Won $100,000 total Advice: This is a cumulative total across all games you play. Check the Player Stats screen in the main menu to see how you're doing. 25. "Everything in Its Right Place" - Owned all props for one set Advice: After you win a game, select the props that go with a set you have unlocked. You'll only have to get a couple, and it's pretty easy to tell which ones go with which sets. 26. "Toss Up Pro!" - Won all Toss Ups in a single game Advice: Self-explanatory. Just win all three of the Toss-Ups in one game. Use your "dummy" player for this one to make it super easy. 27. "Jackpot!" - Won a Jackpot Advice: The Jackpot Round comes on the first puzzle you'll play. Land on the Jackpot space, guess a letter correctly and then solve the puzzle. You may need to manipulate the wheel for this one. Try to get your power meter in the middle to land right around the same location you were previously. It's not an exact science, but it'll come with a little effort. 28. "Fortune Flipped!" - Won $10,000 from a Mystery Wedge Advice: When you land on a Mystery Wedge, guess a correct letter. You'll then get the option to flip the wedge over or "stay." Choose flip; you'll have a 50/50 shot of getting $10,000 or Bankrupt. 29. "Wheel Watcher" - Solved 10 unique puzzles Advice: Self-explanatory. Solve 10 different puzzles on any difficulty or mode. 30. "Ultimate Minigame Champ" - Won every minigame Advice: Win all three different minigames. Do this with your "dummy" player if you're playing alone. I don't think you have to do it all in one game, but you can if you want. 31. "A Talented Medium" - Won a game on Medium difficulty Advice: Self-explanatory. Set the difficulty in the menu before you start. 32. "True Bonus" - Won a bonus round without guessing any letters correctly Advice: This one can be a little tough. During the bonus round, the game will give you the letters R, S, T, L, N and E. You'll then get to guess three more consonants and one vowel. Make sure you get none of those letters correct, then solve the puzzle. Realistically, you'll just have to keep playing until you get a relatively easy bonus round puzzle that you can do this on. If you're having trouble, you can try the Wheel of Fortune Solver at datagenetics.com/blog/january22013. All credit goes to them. 33. "A New Car!" - Won a vehicle! Advice: You can do this in one of two ways: collect both 1/2 car tags during a round and solve the puzzle, or win a car in the bonus round. 34. "Fashionista" - Acquired all contestant clothes and logos Advice: Once you win a game, you can choose prizes to unlock. These include outfits, sets, props, etc. Keep choosing clothes as you win until you get them all. Also of note here: if you play with the "dummy" player, you will often get clothes for winning minigames. This will help speed up the process. 35. "A $25K Round!" - Won $25,000 in one round Advice: This one's actually kind of tough without using the Jackpot strategy. Check out "A $35K Round!" for more details. 36. "A Growing Fortune!" - Won $250,000 total Advice: Self-explanatory. Just win $250,000 as a cumulative total across all games. Check your Player Stats menu to see how you're progressing. 37. "A $35K Round!" - Won $35,000 in one round Advice: Okay, $35,000 is a lot of money to win on just one puzzle, so in order to get this achievement we're going to have to plan things out. First off, you'll need your "dummy" player in the game. During the Jackpot round, keep guessing letters until you know what the puzzle is. Meanwhile, you can select "Solve" then "End" with your "dummy" player to skip through his turn quickly. Once you have the puzzle figured out, keep spinning and guessing letters until you have one correct letter left on the board (be sure to leave one correct consonant unpicked; otherwise you'll be forced to solve and won't be able to get the Jackpot). Keep spinning and getting that Jackpot total up. In the meantime, keep hitting "Solve" and then "End" with both players (don't guess that last letter). Once the Jackpot gets over $35K, get your player to land on the Jackpot wedge, guess the last letter and solve the puzzle. If you're having trouble hitting the Jackpot wedge, try spinning with your power meter filled up about halfway to land back in the area you started. It's not an exact science, but you can tweak it depending on where you're at in relation to the Jackpot wedge. This may take a while, but you'll get it eventually. 38. "A Hard Act to Follow" - Won a game on Hard difficulty Advice: Self-explanatory. Just switch the difficulty to Hard in the main menu. 39. "What A Fortune!" - Won $1M total Advice: Self-explanatory. This is a cumulative total across all games. Check out the Player Stats screen in the main menu to see how you're progressing. 40. "A Massive Fortune!" - Won $500,000 total Advice: Self-explanatory. This is a cumulative total across all games. Check out the Player Stats screen in the main menu to see how you're progressing. 41. "On Location!" - Unlocked all sets and their props Advice: After you win each game, you'll get to unlock an item as a prize. You have to win $50K in the round to get to unlock a set, and there are a couple of props for each set. Get them all and this will pop. 42. "Wheel Master!" - Won 50 games Advice: This one will take the longest time out of all the achievements. Just keep plugging away and winning games (mode and difficulty don't matter). 43. "Wheels on the Wheel" - Won a car by getting both 1/2 car tags Advice: In certain rounds, you'll see 1/2 car wedges on the wheel. Land on two to collect a full car, then solve the puzzle correctly. 44. "Instant Millionaire!" - Won the $1M Prize Advice: This one sucks. In order to win the $1,000,000 prize in this game, several things need to happen in succession. 1. Land on the Million Dollar slot. It occupies 1/3 of a wedge, surrounded on both sides by Bankrupts. It appears in only the first couple of rounds. 2. Choose a correct letter in the puzzle to collect the wedge. 3. Avoid going bankrupt for the remainder of the puzzle. 4. Solve the puzzle correctly. 5. Avoid going bankrupt for the remainder of the game. 6. Win the game. 7. Before the bonus round, land on the $1,000,000 slot. You have a 1 in 24 chance of doing this. 8. Solve the bonus round puzzle. Pretty crazy, huh? Try this method to make things a little more bearable: play solo on Easy mode to give yourself the maximum amount of chances to land on the million dollar wedge. Once you've got the puzzle figured out, you can start trying to land in the right slot. To control the wheel a little bit, try getting your power meter about half-full to land in the area you started in, and adjust from there with more or less power. It'll take quite a bit of trial-and-error spins, bankrupts and general aggravation but eventually you'll land where you're aiming. Solve the puzzle and collect the wedge. For the rest of the game, spin once, then waste the remainder of your turns by choosing "Solve" then "End" so you don't have to spin the wheel any more than you have to and risk getting bankrupt. Once you reach the bonus round with your wedge, it's all luck. You have that 1-in-24 shot of landing on the million, so it'll most likely take several tries to win the ultimate prize. I've heard of people getting it on their first tries, and also people who took upwards of 60 attempts to get it. Hopefully, you'll be closer to the former as opposed to the latter. 45. "I've a Good Feeling About This!" - Solved a puzzle with only one letter revealed Advice: This one sucks, too. Basically, what you have to do is guess one correct letter, then solve the puzzle with just that one letter to go on. It helps if you get lucky and choose a letter that appears four or five times within the puzzle. Much of this is based on luck, and waiting for the right puzzle to come along. If you're having trouble with this one, you can check out this website: gameguidefaq.blogspot.com/2013/04/wheel-of-fortune-cheat-list-puzzle.html It's just a partial list of all the puzzles in the game, but with any luck you'll stumble across one fairly quickly. All credit goes to them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Conclusion ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not too bad, huh? "Wheel of Fortune" is one of those rare games that you can play with just about anyone, from your girlfriend to your grandmother, or enjoy just as much when playing by yourself. Sure, the wheel will make you want to punch your television more times than you'll care to admit, but all in all the fun factor outweighs the annoyance of grinding out some of these achievements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.
