Introduction, QA/Explanation and Statement of Contents This guide will break without a monospace typeface. Like, Fixedsys. Seriously. The ASCII map further down will be /awful/. This guide contains: *List of Questions and Answers that explain the purpose of the guide. *Ttable of officers and the provinces they can be hired in. (sorted by kingdom) *ASCII Map of Conquest Mode, with each province (and a few other notable locations) clearly marked. Q: "What's the Purpose of this Guide?" Short Answer: To show where each officer is recruited in Conquest Mode and provide some other tidbits of information. Long Answer: While playing through Conquest Mode, you may have had problems in getting a particular officer to Sworn Ally status. There are many possible reasons for this to happen: -The most common reason is that you stuck with one character the whole time through Conquest Mode, including their legendary battles. Since you can't have your playable character meet himself or herself in a city, they never gave the "So-and-so is now appearing in cities across the land!" message, and therefore could not be recruited. -Another possibility is that you missed a character's first appearance on the Conquest Mode map; switching characters will send them away, as will entering a new stage too quickly. -Sometimes, it seems to me that a character can fail to show up without any provocation whatsoever, but I'm sure I'm just being paranoid... or am I? Regardless of the reason, you may need to hire these characters as reinforcements to get them as allies. You may also want to hire them simply to build bonds faster; reinforcement generals gain bond as quickly as your selected sworn ally, *but only if you cross paths with them on the battlefield.* Q: "How Do I Get Characters to Show Up as Reinforcements?" A: To get a general to show up as a reinforcement, you have to hire them as a reinforcement from the Merchant in a specific province. Each province has at least two generals to hire, and some provinces have as many as 7. Each of the 62 playable characters can be hired from the Merchant, but you cannot hire your current character or your active Sworn Ally as a Reinforcement. You must find the Merchant in the province of your choice, talk to them, and select the officer you want to hire from the list of Reinforcements. Only one general can be hired as a Reinforcement at a time; hiring a reinforcement costs 1000 gold. Q: "When Does The Merchant Appear?" A: The Merchant appears simultaneously in every province at once, after every third battle. You can save and quit from Conquest Mode, and the Merchant will remain. You can also change characters without dismissing him. (However, if you change characters, you may dismiss generals waiting for you in a city.) Also, entering a city and leaving it will dismiss the Merchant, so you'll want to get it right the first time. You can, if you accidentally choose the wrong city, choose End Game from the menu, reload, and pick the correct one, but this is time-consuming and awkward. Q: "Why Aren't My Reinforcements Showing Up?" A: Reinforcements may not appear for a few reasons. If you change the character you are playing as. your reinforcement will not show up. If you change your Sworn Ally to your reinforcement, the Sowrn Ally will show up, but the reinforcement will not. Your reinforcement will also not show up in Legendary Battles, or any battle with the key Condition phrase "No Sworn Allies." Lastly, Reinforcements are only hired for a single battle. You will have to hire them again afterwards. Q: "What is the fastest way to grow bonds?" Short Answer: Win a battle with the general you want to bond with on the same side as you. Long Answer: Have the "Congeniality" seal equipped on both weapons, and have the general you want to grow a bond with as your Sworn Ally. If your general is not yet available as a sworn ally, hire them as a reinforcement and fight in a battle with them. Make sure you get within minimap's distance of them, or you may not gain any bond. If you do not yet have access to the Province where your general is hired, try their Legendary Battle. If you don't have access to the Legendary Battle, you should probably work your way towards that first. The fastest way to build multiple bonds at once is to hire reinforcements at every opportunity, change out your Sworn Ally whenever their bond is complete, and only fight in Rescue Missions, as those build bond with the character you rescue in it. ############################################################################### 2.
