============================================================= ================== Sengoku Musou 3Z - PS3 =================== ============================================================= A FAQ by ENAY 07th-13th May 2011 V1.0 First draft, maybe finished or update again later? This document is Copyrighted 2011 ENAY. ***** Since starting this guide I discovered that a few other guides were already posted on gamefaqs with some better translations. Therefore rather to waste my time covering the same sort of information please check out the other guides on gamefaqs too as well as mine because they are very good! Probably even better than mine ;) ***** Some information was checked against posts on gamefaqs and http://www31.atwiki.jp/sengoku3/ Credit where credit is due! http://enaysoft.co.uk enay at enaysoft.co.uk This document contains Japanese characters, if the following 3 lines of text below:- 戦国無双3Z こんにちは Hello ..turn out to be gibberish, please adjust the encoding in your web browser. It should say Sengoku Musou 3Z, and hello twice. Once in English and then once in Japanese using Japanese and English characters. I must apologise if this FAQ is a bit ropey in places or has basic typing or gramattical errors. This is because I have not bothered proof reading it and making corrections as much as I would've liked too. Well it's been maybe about 6 or so years since I made my last guide for gamefaqs. Anyone who knows me (highly unlikely) will know I made the advanced mechanics guide for the dynasty warriors games. I've fallen out of love with the dynasty warriors games ever since the 4th one, and yet the samurai warriors games get better and better with each release. It's shocking to think that Musou Orochi Z and Samurai Warriors 3Z will probably never get a release outside of Japan, especially since both of these titles are the very best in the Koei Tecmo fighting series. I mean, Musou Orochi Z has all the characters from both the dynasty and samurai warrior series and more. And you can choose 3 characters each, 6 people on a 2 player. With over hundreds of missions, the fun and lastability is immense. Samurai Warriors 3Z the newest Samurai Warriors is also incredibly good. Hence I decided to make this guide for such a great game. _____________________________________________________________ 1.1 I WANT THIS GAME BUT I KNOW 0% JAPANESE! If you have even a hint of an interest in buying this game but are scared by the fact the game is 99% Japanese then don't. I would highly recommend you buy it. BUY IT NOW! Musou Orochi Z too! These games are great and much better than even the newest Dynasty Warriors 7 game. The graphics are great, all in silky smooth 60 frames per second. The newest Dynasty Warriors 7 should have been what Samurai Warriors 3Z is. DW7 has terrible slowdown and the 2 player mode suffers from very small characters and poor graphics. I've been learning Japanese for about 6 years now and have lived in Japan for over 3 years. Me and my Japanese girlfriend love playing these games but in the end we end up not caring about the story too much. Some of the Japanese used is so old fashioned (like say Shakesspear English) that it really isn't worth trying to learn what the characters are saying. Even if you do know, it's usually not all that interesting. These games are all the same, people have fights with each other over and over again and the actual stories are very loosely based on real history. You don't need to know what's going on, infact I enjoyed it more not knowing what they were saying when my Japanese wasn't so great. The awe of mystery has gone for me. Doesn't it get tedious hearing the same old English voices over and over again? "Their forces are strong" "You're a magnificent warrior!", "I have killed an officer" Now imagine that but in Japanese if you can understand it... Of course the voice acting is much better and more professional than the English cheesy voice acting but hearing some powerful over the top voice acting for something simple such as "I have defeated an officer" over and over again can also grate on you after a while even in Japanese. The only difficult part and fear for most people is not being able to understand what missions you have to do and maybe a fear that by buying the game, due the language barrier you might not be able to get your platinum for that very reason. Whilst that might be a possibility don't worry about it. This guide will give a crash course of reading some useful bits of Japanese and being able to navigate without being able to understand any Japanese. Both of these games (Samurai Warriors 3Z and Musou Orochi Z) will work on any PS3 games, have no online trophies and no impossible trophies that require exceptional skill. Sure you might have been cursing that Koei Tecmo don't plan on releasing these games out of Japan and they made Samurai Warriors 3 on the inferior Wii. However, stop complaining, you still have a chance to play these games right now on your PS3! There are also other guides on gamefaqs fo this game and other gamers playing this game who don't know Japanese and are loving it. So what are you waiting for? Japan has been suffering a lot recently from the giant earthquake and tsunami and the economy is still struggling. If you love Japan and these sorts of games, what better way to support Japan than importing these games? Buy Samurai Warriors 3Z and Musou Orochi Z today. Do it now! You won't be disappointed. :) ============================================================= 2.0 JAPANESE TRANSLATIONS Whilst this section is labelled translation it isn't really. It would take an eternity to translate the entire story for all the characters and most of it is often really quite silly, not that I even have the Japanese ability to do that anyway. Just marvelling at the gorgeous cut scenes should be enough to get your fix of the action. It is for me and my girlfriend. First thing you should do is open up your instruction manual and go to the back few pages. It lists all the characters in the game with English right next to the Japanese along with a picture of the character's face. Now you can memorise what in the hell of each of the characters are called! Hooray! :) What I will have in this first section is a collection of useful words that appear often and you should look out for. What I recommend you do is print them out, or copy and paste them into a seperate program and then stick the piece of paper next to or near your PS3 so you can consult them quickly. I should note that this isn't an exhaustive list of all the Japanese used in the menus. There are bits of English scattered around all over the menus actually. I will just translate the stuff you really need to know to get the most out of the game. (Other guides on gamefaqs have other descriptions such as the contents of special unique armours) Some of the meanings I have simplified for ease of clarification. For example the 'side mission' in Japanese doesn't really translate well to English. The name used by many people is tactical objective although quite how going out of your way to kill a boss in a certain way (usually ridiculously pointless way) can be considered a 'tactical advantage' I just don't understand. Anyway, there is Japanese used in other sections of this guide but the ones you really need to know are listed below in no particular order. (I will probably add more words in a future update to this guide) はい Yes いいえ No セーブ Save ロード Load インストール Install 武将 Commander/Boss 無双武将 Boss (Samurai Warrior Heroes only) 詰所 Gate captain 商人 Merchant 物資 Many items 荷駄頭 Supply captain 忍/忍者 Ninja 隠密頭 Hidden ninja captains 謎 Mysterious (As in mysterious person mission) 密書 Secret message 両 Money/Japanese coin 入手 Current holding (as in money) 成功 Success 大成功 Big success 失敗 Failure ミッション Mission 撃破効果 Side mission 以上 Equal to and more than 以下 Equal to and less than 以内 Within 後 After 分 Minute (Time) 秒 Second (Time) 人 People コンボ Combo 現在 The state right now 練技ゲージ Ability Guage 攻撃 Attack 防御 Defence 無双 Musou (As in musou attack bar) 移動 Movement 攻速 Attack speed 回復 Recovery/Healing 無双 Musou 無双秘奥義 Flaming Musou (When near death) 無双奥義 During a Musou 無双最終奥 Double Musou (With another character) Go to title screen (Save in Career mode) モードを終了 End Mode (End Career Mode) _____________________________________________________________ 2.1 MISSION Missions in this game are well sign posted and most can be fathomed without even needing to read anything. Once the Japanese horn sounds look at your mini map. As a general rule if the enemy is flashing on your map it means they need to be defeated. If there are many then all need to be defeated. If an ally is flashing then you need to go over to that person. If the mission still isn't over and the ally is moving around it is likely you need to stay with them and protect them or escort them somewhere. If there is a purple flashing plus on your mini map then it's a location that you must go to. Be aware though that the purple plus which flashes for about 3 seconds means a door has opened. It it stays there for a long time then it means a location. If there is an enemy and ally flashing at the same time it is likely you need to kill the enemy before your ally gets there or protect your ally from the enemy. This is pretty much all the missions on the main mode, even if you fail them there is no penalty so for now I think this explanation is sufficient. Of course if a timer comes up you must do that mission before the timer runs out. Failing missions is ok and not required for any trophies, just helps with the exp. On Career mode there are some other types of mission that need more thought and planning. These are explained in career mode. _____________________________________________________________ 2.2 SIDE MISSION Side missions are much easier to understand than the regular missions but sadly aren't signposted at all. You get a confirmation if you pass one but nothing if you fail them. Trophies are give for side missions too so we need to know what's going on here. In this section learning some Japanese is required but you can easily find out what sort of mission it is by observing some hints. In Career mode missions are totally random so it's worth memorising a few things. Pause the game and consult the map and look at the Japanese. 1) First check for numbers If there is a time limit you need to defeat that boss within the time limit. Easy to understand. This is usually accompanied by the following Japanese. 分以内 so 2:00分以内 means within 2 minutes. 10:00分以内 means within 10 minutes etc. If it's not a 'time' style number next we need to look at the symbols next to it. コンボ is Japanese for combo 人 is Japanese for people If either of these two are next to the number you need to have a certain combo or number of people defeated BEFORE you kill the boss. Usually this is more than but sometimes it is the opposite. Notice that the Japanese for person looks like a body with 2 legs but no head or arms. Also look out for the following symbols. 以上 Equal to and more than 以下 Equal to and less than The symbols are really useful in this case, look at the second symbols, ones is like an arrow pointing up, the other down. This conveniently gives you a hint as to the meaning to which direction. And before we had 内 which sort of looks like an X (Inside) So as an example 500人以上 means you need to have killed more than 500 people before killing that particular boss. Sometimes you have odd ones like kill the boss with a combo less than 3. Which is trickier than you think. Note that in Japanese unlike English 500人以上 means 500 as well. In English 'more than 500' does not include 500 at all but 501,502...etc. Please note that since Japanese is different. With these sorts of missions be sure to check the 現在 which tells you the current situation for certain conditions. Other conditions include:- 武将 = Boss 詰所 = Gate Captain Sometimes you need to have killed a certain number of bosses or secured gate captains before killing a boss. Be sure to check out the writing, if it is red then it is the enemy. On your own team it will be blue. Sometimes you even have to let your own team members die in order to secure a condition. Please note that after killing a gate captain you usually have to wait about 30 to 60 seconds for it to become your gate. Combos are easily maintable in 2 player mode. 2) Spot the Japanese symbol! Without any numbers it now comes as a bit of hunt to find out what the condition is:- - 練技ゲージ Ability guage If you find this easy to spot Japanese for ゲージ look to the left for the other symbols. If it has 練技 then you will need to kill that boss with your ability guage on full (5 blue flashing orbs) Simply go around killing enemies till it gets to full, don't musou unless you are on a horse or you will use all the orbs. Also don't use your X button shadow attack. - 馬 -> 騎乗 On a horse Remember before we found out 馬 means horse? Well if you can see that symbol inside of 騎乗 then it means you need to defeat the boss whilst mounted on a horse. - 未使用 Defeat this boss without using any food items etc (You can use items once you have killed the boss) - 無双 (The symbols off the box) Sometimes you have to kill the boss with a musou attack. However there are many types. Attack a boss until low health and then unleash your musou to ensure you kill the boss with that attack. For all don't use a horse! Just to be on the safe side. Using a musou on a horse for example and hitting the boss with your horse instead of your weapon for example is an instant fail! 無双奥義 - Kill the boss whilst inside a musou. I usually start a musou and then start hitting square button. 無双秘奥義 - Near death flaming musou (Don't use horse) 無双 皆伝 - This is a musou when you are on 5 blue orbs. This one is easy to spot due to the huge floating full stop mark to the left of 皆伝 symbols - 赤 Red If you see this symbol it stands for Red in Japanese. There are two variations. If you can also see 一度も (Look for the straight line) it means killing the boss WITHOUT ever going into red health. If it doesn't it means kill the boss when you are in red health. Suffice to say it is almost impossible to get into red on the easiest settings so you need to quit out and put the game into a harder setting if you ever see this. What I do is play on normal and disable armour so my defence is much lower. Remember that you can also use a weapon equipped with 虎乱 to enable your flaming musou to come out. 3) Other One thing you need to get into the habit of is looking at the colour of the text. If a blue word and red word come up together it means kill that boss before your ally dies. Sometimes you might have to kill a boss before killing another one. The rarest one that comes up sometimes if having to kill a boss in a certain area. This happens if there is a purple line. There should be a red line pointing to the boss and then the purple line pointing to which base the boss should be in. I know this appears in one of Tadakatsu Honda's stages and freaked me out at first. What you need to do is get the attention of the boss and slowly lure the boss into the base before killing him/her. You might need to give the boss a quick tap (jumping attack) to get his/her attention if they are in battle already. _____________________________________________________________ 2.3 WEAPONS When a weapon has an element it has an added effect. The effect can be from 1 to 3. Naturally 3 is the strongest. A weapon or armour etc can be customed but only is it has 強化 remaining. The maximum one can get is 9. Here are a list of elements that can be found. Elements listed in red are rare (and usually the best) elements. (I have put a * next to elements I think are the best) 猛攻* Attack up 地撃* Square button attack up 天撃* Triangle button attack up 神撃* Musou attack up 騎撃* Horse attack up (when mounted) 地風* Square button attack range up 天風 Triangle button attack range up 神風 Musou attack range up 騎風 Horse attack range up 地流 Square button elemental activation up (% up) 天流 Triangle button elemental activation up 神流 Musou elemental attack up activation up 騎流 Horse elemental attack up activation up 覇流* Elemental attack up 波撃 Shooting attack up (Best for Magoichi/Inahime etc) 勇猛* Attack up against bosses 破天 Attack up for juggling enemies in mid air 背水 Attack up when near death 果敢 Attack increases using shadow dash 怒髪* Whilst attacking musou guage increases faster 無我* Whilst attacking ability guage increases faster 無心 Ability guage increases faster during bigger combos (Red rare effect) 秘技 Ability guage goes down slower or not at all when shadow attack is being used 虎乱* Perform flaming attack musou even when not near death 立志**Exp up killing enemies (If level 3 you can 2.5x exp up!) _____________________________________________________________ 2.4 ARMOURS When a weapon has an element it has an added effect. The effect can be from 1 to 3. (I have put a * next to elements I think are the best) 堅守* Defence up 不動* Stops enemies interrupting your attacks 滅流* Enemy element effect down 波断* Enemy projectile attack down (Archers etc) 陽炎 Enemy combo attack down (Attacks slowly weaken during combo) 金剛 Successful parry/guard and cause heavier damage 鉄壁 Increases guard strength 薬活 Increases effect of healing items 威風 Sometimes deflect arrows etc when on a horse 堅忍* Attack down from generals/commanders 闘志 Quickly increases musou guage when attacked 闘魂 Quickly increases ability guage when attacked 不屈 Increase defence when near death (Red rare effect) 不抜 Ability guage increases near death. (Pretty useless) 再臨* Come back from the dead but just once. Level 1 to 3 is the difference beween 50%,75% or 100% recover. _____________________________________________________________ 2.5 GAUNTLETS When a gauntlet has an element it has an added effect. The effect can be from 1 to 3. (I have put a * next to elements I think are the best) 騎戦* Horse ability up 連撃* Combo time increases before a combo is lost 乱撃* Attack increase during high combos 剛力 DUel attack up 霊験 Item effect lengthens (Attackx2 etc last longer) 高揚**Increase length of Musou attack (This is very very useful) 破竹* Increase health after every 100 kills (Useful in Career) 快進 Increase musou guage after every 100 kills 昇龍 Increase ability guage after every 100 kills 目利 Luck up in finding good weapons 真眼* Luck up in finding good armours/boots etc 収集* Double gems found from gate captains and bosses etc 不落* Helps stops you falling off a horse when attacked (Red rare effect) 騎神* Ability guage gradually increases when on a horse 覚醒* Musou guage gradually increases when full on ability _____________________________________________________________ 2.6 BOOTS When boots have an element on them they have an added effect. The effect can be from 1 to 3. (I have put a * next to elements I think are the best) I actually think the elements for boots and not all that useful. This is mostly because you will often be spending most of the time on your house and not seeing any benefits. 俊敏 Running speed up 飛燕 Longer shadow dash attack 飛躍 Faster sidestep 飛転 Longer distance when rolling 瞬躍* Slight invincibility when sidestepping 瞬転 Increases invincibility whilst rolling 走撃 Running attack up 跳撃 Jumping attack up 走襲 Inflict stagger with running attack attack 跳襲 Inflict stagger with jump attack 神速 Speed up during musou 脱兎* Speed up when near death 撃進* Often get speedup for 30 seconds when killing a boss (Red rare effect) 疾風* Musou guage increases whilst running 疾光* Ability guage increases whilst running _____________________________________________________________ 2.7 SADDLES A saddle has 3 elements. 移動速度 Speed 耐久力 Stamina (I can only assume this is the amount of hits needed before you are knocked off the horse) 突進力 Charge damage (Running over enemies) I would always use the horse with the highest speed. Get Matsukaze as soon as you can from the career mode. ============================================================= 3.0 MUSOU MODE Musou mode is the main mode you need to play in order to complete all 5 levels with each character. Custom characters can be selected in this mode but only with player 2. Use free mode to play musou mode levels with any character. However it is limited to what the story will happen. For example if you choose a ninja on a level where that character appears it is likely the mission objectives will change to have ninja only double jump areas to access. Don't use free mode, use musou mode instead. After choosing a character you can select their stage, moving the cursor down takes you to a shop. Although it's all in Japanese it's quite easy to navigate around because each sub menu has English written along the top of the screen. ============================================================= 4.0 CAREER MODE Career mode is a fun RPG free roaming adventure sort of mode. It is great fun however a little bit ruined by the fact you have to play through it 7 times to unlock everything for the items and trophies. Starting again from scratch each time is also quite painful. Mostly because of starting on a slow horse each time. I will teach you a few tips and tricks to help speed this up though as sometimes items in the shops will help get objectives out of the way quickly. The main objective of the mode is to secure an objective within a certain amount of (adventure game) days. After a random battle you can choose to continue, it is best to do so, you can continue an infinite number of times. There is a trophy for doing so 10 times in a row. Each time you say no you go back to a menu which allows you to visit the shop and save etc. Saving is automatic after each day. Once you have achieved the objective you will get a success 成功 However there is a super success 大成功 which is achieved by getting 1.5 or 1.6 times the rate of the original objective. For the first 4 playthroughs you will need to aim for a 大成功 in almost every single level. Levelling up in this mode can only be achieved in the shop using money. Food is also incredibly rare so you need to stock up in the shop. Health goes back to 100% though after each day. When your health is getting low it is recommended to not continue as you will be healed at the beginning of each day. It is best to try and get the objective out of the way whilst leaving many remaining days just to be sure you have enough time to get the objective. After the objective you need to keep going through the days without continuing until the time runs out, then you will have a big battle. There is no reason to do well in these big battles at all. Many of which you can run straight to the last boss and kill straight away which I recommend you do. After the 5th objective you will get a rare item No1 and an ending (plus a trophy for the 1st time) After this you get a 6th objective and depending on whether you have 大成功 for all or 成功 for all you will get a No2 or No3 rare item. These are all needed, all 9 for the treasure trophy. 2 saddles are contained in the 4th adventure. A trophy for each, you also get another trophy for completing all 4 adventures. If on your remaining days you have 1日 showing and you still haven't reached the objective then you MUST keep continuing until you get to the objective. Ending a day auto saves so be careful. One thing to note is that if you die you won't lose your entire career mode! JUst the progress on the current day. Some incredibly importantly Japanese is listed below タイトルに戻る Go to title screen (Save in Career mode) モードを終了 End Mode (End Career Mode) The game autosaves after each day, however when you go to the shop make sure you only select タイトルに戻る It will save again, the reason for this is that you can buy items in the shop and then leave this mode and it saves that progress, you cannot save the game in the middle of a day or during a battle so be careful! The items and armours you get in this mode can be only be used in the main mode when you END Career mode. DO NOT click on モードを終了 unless you want to finish your progress. Only exit this mode after unlocking the rare treasures after the 6th objective. If you click on this by mistake and think you have pressed yes instead of no by mistake when it asked for confirmation. Quit out using XMB on your Playstation 3 before progressing any further Starting out are 3 chapters, the 4th is selectable after completing one of the others. Sadly each time you start you start with nothing. However starting with a characters on max Level 50 will give you a lot of starting money. I recommend using Maeda Keiji or especially Garasha on this mode. Garsha for being cheap and Maeda Keiji for being really naturally strong. Keiji's S,S,S,T move on a horse staggers everyone and is very useful. _____________________________________________________________ 4.1 GENERAL TIPS As mentioned many places in this guide it is best to start off this mode using a Level 50 character built up from musou or free mode. That way you start off with a lot of money and can cut down on grinding. Levelling up in the shop is the only way to level up. So in my opinion it is best to save your money just for doing that. You can by many items and allies in the shop, but for now just save your money. You want to level up as quickly as possible. Allies will from time to time join your party for free. The difficulty starts off very easy and slowly gets more difficult. If you keep continuing on the same day you won't get your health back. After resting for a day though it is like a full recovery. It will be quite a while before you even start to lose health. Once you have completed your 1st objective I would recommend buying a rice ball. It's the big white ball in a red bowl that costs 1000. This is just incase of an emergency. Gaining money, exp, items etc are all depending on what sort of strategy you play through and what kind of objective you are aiming for. For example if you need to kill a certain amount of gate captains you will want to ignore most bosses unless they are quick targets in your line of path. In the early stages the game is very easy and although you start with a painfully slow horse it's worth taking your time and killing as many generals, people, gate captains as possible. Note that in this mode you can't find food in the usual wheat piles near each gate captain but instead there will be a gem (or nothing) Before you get a saddle you need to press up on the dpad to summon a horse. Otherwise there won't be any. Saddles are given to you at random after completing various numbers of missions. Also equip the saddle with the highest speed, look for 移動速度 and compare which is the fastest. Missions are random and the bosses who appear are also random. This mode is totally random, however there are a few missions that differ from the main mode. At the start of the level if some people start talking and then a mission comes up look at your map. If it is pointing to an ally, this is a find the traitor mission. Once you arrive to that person he will say he is no traitor. For confirming this you will get a random gift/bonus. If it is an enemy flashing then it's a boss you need to kill. At the start of the level it will show you where the final boss/bosses are on the map. If a yellow army appears there are two final bosses and all 3 armies will fight against each other. If you go past an enemy and they start talking to you it is likely a mission will appear and you have to kill that person. If an ally you pass by starts talking to you then they want you to go and kill a boss. Doing so gives you a bonus. When passing Sakon Shima, Kenshsin Uesugi or Fukushima they will say they want some sake (Alcohol) but it was stolen by a supply captain. You need to find that captain on the map, kill him and then deliver the alcohol. If the symbol 酒 appears in the mission reminder then you know you have this mission. I usually ignore it though since it takes up too much time. You can ignore EVERYTHING in this mode. Just make sure your main commander (or you) don't die. That is all. If you are riding around in a castle or camp and then a message appears and purple flashing plus on the map, you have found something suspicious. This is confirmed by no mission appearing. If you circle around in that area a hidden boss or something else will appear that you need to kill. Sometimes you will have a find the mysterious person mission. This is shown by the 謎 symbol. This is an ally that when approached will turn against you. Again a simple kill and the mission is over. Sometimes when attacking a boss another boss will appear as a reinforcement. Simple kill both. If an ally and enemy are flashing on the map together you have to kill the boss and go and save your ally as soon as possible. You usually get an item for doing this. All these missions require no knowledge of Japanese and the dialogue is very linear and dull and could be used speaking from and too any character. There are many other types of random missions but they are rare and are best ignored because they take too long to complete and aren't worth your time. A tip is to avoid any levels with castles in. Getting off your horse is a pain and slows things down a lot. Plus Garasha who you should use to spam her fireballs is not very strong on foot. Once you get to around Level 45 or so, you might want to recruit characters that you hate fighting or don't want to appear. (Useful also when trying to find your rival) Some more notes about your allies, allies level up until they are max (level 5) and it is possible to have 5 allies at once but only 3 selected for use in the main game. Allies can die and then you can no longer select them. One brilliant feature of this game (and in any mode) is that if you eat food next to an ally (boss) they will get the effect of the food too. Even works on 2 player mode with your team mate. The only way to heal a weak ally if to eat food next to them. Where possible though I would refrain from doing this and simply end the day since they get their health back too. Each ally has a powerup that they give you an random for free. Usually the first happens after 3 minutes of play. They are attack x2 defence x2 attack speed x2 recover musou guage recover ability guage Attack x2 or attack speed x2 are the best. Recover powerups are not so useful, usually you are already on full musou and ability when constantly riding your horse and the fact they recover so rarely it rarely comes out as being useful. defence x2 in my opinion is worthless. If you are going to buy allies then always keep a look out for Maeda Keiji, Tadakatsu Honda and Maeda Toshie. Not only are these guys super strong they all give you attack x2 which in my opinion is the most useful. If you manage to acculumate more than 3 allies always be sure choose the best 4. Dumping allies that have recovery abilities for example. _____________________________________________________________ 4.2 OBJECTIVES So what are the objectives for each of the 4 adventures? Obtain 6 victories (10), get 8000 (12,800) points 2. Have 20,000 (32,000) ryo, defeat 2000 (3200) soldiers 3. Capture 50 (80) gates, defeat 45 (72) generals 4. Obtain 12 (19) secret infos, pay 15,000 (24,000) ryo 5. Obtain 8 (13) victories, defeat 55 (88) generals 6. Obtain 12 (19) victories, fight your rival 8 (13) times This adventure gives you rare saddles and sometimes boots. _____________________________________________________________ 武力 Buryoku (Force) 1. Get 7000 (11,200) points Ok, first off getting experience points, I would recommend playing normally and getting used to the game. You get experience for anything. I've found though for fastest results it is best to run straight to the final boss and kill any other bosses that happen to be near or not too much of a detour to reach. Bosses give quite a bit of experience and you get more exp for finishing a level quickly. 2. Defeat 2000 (3200) soldiers In this objective I would not tend to kill bosses so quickly so more soldiers are respawned. 3. Defeat 50 (80) generals Simple go around killing bosses and ignoring everything else, if a boss is too far and out of your way don't bother. Move towards the final boss whilst picking off other bosses on the way. Look out for levels that have 大規模な戦い Look out for the 大 symbol. This battle has 3 armies in it and thus lots of bosses to defeat. Also look out for 忍 (ninja) In this level there are many ninjas fighting, this is also a 3 army battle. 4. Defeat 2700 (4320) soldiers Same as before go around, defeating enemies and not defeating the bosses so quickly. 5. Defeat 55 (88) generals Same as before but with more generals to kill. 6. Defeat 30 (48) elite generals and 4000 (6400) soldiers The final one is the same as before but now we have 2 objectives. However this time we need to kill Samurai Warrior generals, killing normal generals doesn't increase the score. As before, look for 大規模な戦い and ninja battles. _____________________________________________________________ 知力 Chiryoku (Intellect) 1. Capture 50 (80) gates This is pretty tedious. I recommend you kill generals as well as gate captains so you are gaining money since you will be still weak at this point and the game is still easy. Some levels have gate captains close together so try to select stages that suit you best and hope you get a fast horse saddle as soon as possible. 2. Complete 12 (19) missions This one shouldn't take too long but it seems like missions don't come around so often when you REALLY want them. At the start of each day go into the shop and look for items that have 商人 in the description. This will trigger a merchant you have to protect for the duration of the level. The merchant never dies and usually he just spends all his time trying to catch you up. Not only will you get a mission completed extra just for finishing a level you'll get a bonus item too. Long missions I would just ignore, go for the ones where you have to kill bosses or confirm the traitor since they are quick to finish. If no missions appear at the start then go and kill the final boss and start a new level. Of course if any missions appear on the way such as killing a boss nearby, do those too. 3. Complete 8 (13) side missions Sometimes there are no side missions, whilst the game is loading check your map. If there are no ! symbols then note where the final boss is and kill him straight away. Move quickly to start the next level. Also only go for simple side missions. Ones that require you to kill 300 people or more and kill that boss on red health etc. Ignore those, they aren't worth your time. 4. Obtain 14 (22) secret infos Secret infos are the small scrolls that sometimes in appear in battles. I have read on various forums people complaining about this one because the secret infos rarely appear when you need them. Actually I would say this is a very easy one if you buy items from the shop. At the start of each day go to the shop and buy the items that have 密書 in the description. Buy 兵法書 and 銀枷. One is of a silver shackle if I recall. Usually you only get these from killing a boss if you buy these two items they will appear a lot. But most notably from normal people and not just bosses. If you have bought these two items when you level starts take note of clumps of normal people. Not enemies from a respawn point but groups of 10 or 20 people just stood still on the map. Hunt down and kill these people. They may run away after you kill a few but kill every last one. You almost always get one scroll, sometimes even two! If you take your time and kill every single enemy and boss on the level you net between 5-10 scrolls per level! Sometimes it doesn't appear in the shop but if it does buy them! As you can see if you buy these items and get a lot of scrolls immediately end the day, save and then buy them again. You will get the secret infos in no time. 5. Complete 14 (22) missions Same as before but just with more missions. 6. Complete 20 (32) missions and 10 (16) side missions Same as before but this time you have to do missions and side missions too. _____________________________________________________________ 財力 Zairyoku (Fortune) 1. Get 10,000 (16,000) ryo (Japanese money) When thing I have always found odd about earning money in this game is that you get quite a lot (a few thousand) for finishing a level. There are lots of ways to earn money but most in my opinion take too long. I have found that simply killing a few bosses and then the final boss gives between 1000-3000 each turn. You can do this in a couple of minutes and for me has been the fastest method of accumulating money. One thing you should buy from the shop is any mission that has 商人 in the title. Sometimes you can get up to 30000 ryo in saving the merchant. Otherwise my advice is to ignore money related missions and just finishing on closing off the levels quickly. 2. Defeat 8 (13) supply guards Supply guards are shown on the map as bosses but infact are not bosses are at all. Look out for 荷駄頭 on the map. You can get them to appear in large numbers if you search for a mission with the following symbols. 物資 Whilst the game is loading check out the list of bosses and see if any supply guards are available. If not go straight for the final boss and then try a new level. 3. Get 50,000 (70,000) ryo Before I told you to always use your money on exp didn't I? Well to save a couple of hours of grinding this time whilst collecting money we will save it, try to save all the money you collected! With Garasha things will be ok because you can use her S,S,S,T move from a distance and kill everyone with ease. 4. Get 75,000 (100,000) ryo Save as before but with more money. Remember to spend as little as possible. 5. Have 70,000 (100,000) ryo, pay 15,000 (25,000) ryo Now we come to the interesting part. If you've saved about 150000 ryo you can now go into the shop and spend 15000-25000 of it. If you can't buy anything (already level 50) then buy allies, you can keep buying between 2 allies when you have a max of 5. Do this until you have spent the amount you need. Now exit the shop and BANG the objective has been completed and will appear on the screen. Yes, you managed to complete this objective before even starting any more missions :) The other objective was to simply own a certain amount of money but since we didn't spend any money for a while we already have enough. I would level up using about 30000 ryo and then simply run straight to the final boss on each of the next 5 or 6 days and move onto the next objective. 6. Have 80,000 (120,000) ryo, pay 20,000 (30,000) ryo This is the same as before, again you might already have this objective in the bag. The final two objectives completed within a matter of minutes. Once the success or super success have been completed you are free to level up entirely using your remaining money. _____________________________________________________________ 天下 Tenka (Unification) 1. Obtain 6 victories (10), get 8000 (12,800) points Keep playing as you would normally in this mode. points can be increases by using weapons with 立志 attached. I wouldd recommend staying near 20000 or 32000 ryo to make the next mission go faster. 2. Have 20,000 (32,000) ryo, defeat 2000 (3200) soldiers As you did before keep trying to find missions with 3 armies fighting and the ones with ninjas as they have lots of normal enemies to fight too. 3. Capture 50 (80) gates, defeat 45 (72) generals No different to before, simple play the game as kill bosses and the objective will come in time. You might want to save your a money a little and then level up during the next objective. 4. Obtain 12 (19) secret infos, pay 15,000 (24,000) ryo Same as before. Buy items in the shop with 密書 in the description. Buy the 兵法書 and 銀枷 items, the pay money objective should be finished long before you get all the secret infos. 5. Obtain 8 (13) victories, defeat 55 (88) generals More of the same. Clear up generals and keep aiming for 3 army battles. 6. Obtain 12 (19) victories, fight your rival 8 (13) times This one is pretty tedious, the victories one will happen naturally. You might have to get about 50-100 victories for this one. Up till now you will have been fighting the same boss as the final in the main stages. At one point you will have had a conversation with this person. All you need to do here is defeat this person 8 or 13 times. The hardest part is getting the person to show up. For this mode I would not bring along any allies, or if you do make sure you outrun them on your horse long enough so they can't catch up to you in time before you kill your rival. If they kill your rival you score nothing. Your rival can show up in many ways, the most annoying is that of your #$*%ing ally! Always look out for this character's name on the level description. When the game is loading look out for this character's name (or face) If the character exists go and kill that character and then the final boss. If your rival doesn't appear then kill the main boss and try again. You can increase the chances of your rival appearing by choosing two army battles but that has the disadvantage of having to kill two bosses to end the battle. Annoying is your rival doesn't show up. I don't know what the best solution is, you just need to have a bit of luck. I usually saved my game after killing my rival every 3 times. This is a really frustrating one, but don't go for the 13 kills, just the 8 kills. Then you get the bear saddle! ============================================================= 5.0 HISTORY MODE History mode is a mode that allows you to create your own warrior and create histoy how you see fit! In simpler terms though it's just a lazy mode to use custom characters on, made worse by the fact it's only 1 player and in the end you need to score over 10000 points on each stage to unlock all the history texts. You don't shape history by anything over than simply getting a high score. Nothing you do has any effect on the history. Lame! This mode is pretty dull, but you can have it all done fairly quickly. Create 3 characters using the 3 special weapons only found in this mode. You will need to get rare items for custom characters too so it's worth powering these warriors in this mode. The 3 weapons are:- 刀 槍 薙刀 You can make whatever kind of character you like, but make sure you make the character as tall as wide as you can. This will increase the character's range immensely, even if it does make them a freakish giant of sorts. :) There are 15 stages in all. Once you complete a stage it says NEW in English and updates the history saying how many people you killed and what rank you got. You need to get 天下無双 on every stage. This is achieved simply by getting 10000 points or more. This isn't too difficult, if you get all the missions, side missions, kill all the bosses and get a rather high number of kills you can net 10000 points in most levels. But the easiest way of getting max points is to add the rare element 立志 to any weapons you get. Play Career mode through first to get lots of rare gems to enable you to do this. 立志3 on a weapon will give you huge exp even if you fail missions and do none of the sub missions. I was getting scores of 10000-15000 by just rushing through the levels quickly. If you go for kills of 1000 kills or more you can get stupidly high scores of 25000! There is a trophy for getting 天下無双 on each 5 stages and then a 4th for getting all of them! Be warned that the trophies are slightly glitched. For completing stages 5,10 and 15 you get an ending which then checks your progress for trophies and gives you an ending. I got 10000 points and more on these stages before going through the earlier levels. It was only when I completed the final stage again that 4 trophies popped up again in a row! It doesn't really matter what difficulty you play on but make sure you get a weapon with 立志 on it to makes things easier. At least by playing this mode you can get more rare stones than on normal mode. ============================================================= 6.0 CHALLENGE MODE The Challenge mode has 3 sections, one where you have to defeat enemies in an arena. Another where you have to knock enemies into the water and the final one is a race to the top of the temple. In each of the challenges you need to get the top score on the highscore table. The arena one is simple, use Tadakatsu Honda or Maeda Keiji. if a trophy pops up when you finish, you've done it! Constantly spam Kato's S,S,S,S,T is also very useful. The highest online scores all spam this move to get a high score. The 2 minute sprint stage is a bit tricky. Use Kunoichi because when you press R1 she is invincible and you can run past everyone and get all the exp scrolls lying around with ease. Then fight a few bosses to get the top of the temple. Finally the boat stage is a bit tricky, I used Kotaro because he runs fast and his running attack propells everyone really far. Kato's S,S,S,S,T who has powerful fireballs and is also good. You have to knock enemies in the water to kill them and get points, you get nothing for hitting the enemy. After all 3 stages are done with the top score you should get a 4th trophy. You may now leave this mode. ============================================================= 7.0 RARE WEAPONS 1 As a general rule, most characters have their 1st rare weapon on the final 5th stage and the 2nd rare weapon on the 4th stage. You must play on the hard or higher setting in order to unlock these weapons. Successfully complete all the side missions only. (撃破効果) You will know when you have done one correctly because writing will flash on the screen, if nothing happens wait till other characters have finished their dialogue. You can always check the progress on the map, purple writing is a fail whilst red writing is a success! As soon as the game loads, save you game. Therefore if you mess up you can quickly reload, I also often just before defeating a boss save the game. Before you save check and double check the condition is still ok and there is no purple writing. Saving with a failed condition means you will have to start over again. Use Maeda Keiji, Garasha or Kotaro for best results on 2 player mode to help make unlocking these weapons easier. This must
be on Musou mode and not Free mode and the character in question must be selected by player 1. Make sure you choose muzukashii (難しい) as your difficulty. Remember that failing the green missions is ok, ignore them! (I would recommend it) If you get all 4 side missions and then screw up by failing such as your main commander dies. I recommend quitting out quickly using the PS3 XMB menu and then reloading the game, otherwise you will have to do all the 4 side missions again! The list below is the order used in the game:- ----- Sanada Yukimura Stage Custom character 新武将(刀) 関ヶ原の戦い(西軍) Custom character 新武将(槍) 大坂の陣(徳川軍) Custom character 新武将(薙刀) 長谷堂の戦い(伊達軍) ============================================================= 8.0 RARE WEAPONS 2 You must play on the hardest setting in order to unlock these weapons. 2 players is also ok! As before use Maeda Keiji, Garasha or Kotaro for best results on 2 player mode. Make sure you choose shura (修羅) as your difficulty. Oddly I found getting the second rare weapons easier, maybe it's because the conditions on the 2nd,3rd and 4th stages are usually a lot easier than on the final stages. On 2 player I recommend moving around together, especially for levels where there are bosses you have to kill quickly. The list below is the order used in the game:- ----- Sanada Yukimura Stage 千代 伏見城の戦い Naoe Kanetsugu Stage 4 直江兼続 三成救出戦 Nene Stage 4 ねね 小牧長久手の戦い Fuma Kotaro Stage 4 風魔小太郎 上田城の戦い Maeda Toshie Stage 4 前田利家 小牧長久手の戦い Garasha Stage 4 ガラシャ ガラシャ脱出戦 Chosokabe Motochika Stage 5 長宗我部元親 山崎の戦い Shibata Katsuie Stage 4 柴田勝家 手取川の戦い Kato Kiyomasa Stage 3 加藤清正 九州征伐 Kuroda Kanbei Stage 4 黒田官兵衛 石垣原の戦い Tachibana Muneshige Stage 3 立花宗茂 大津城の戦い Kaihime Stage 3 甲斐姫 忍城攻め Hojo Ujiyasu Stage 4 北条氏康 三増峠の戦い Takenaka Hanbei Stage 4 竹中半兵衛 木津川口の戦い Mouri Motonari Stage 4 毛利元就 立花救援戦 Ayagozen Stage 4 綾御前 手取川の戦い Fukushima Masanori Stage 4 福島正則 関ヶ原の戦い _____________________________________________________________ Just as before, these need to be selected in Free Mode. A couple which are more tricky I will explain in this section. For one trophy trophy you need to kill a lot of people using double musou. If you don't have a 2nd controller you can still get this but it's a lot more difficult finding an ally that will do their musou when you initiate yours. A double musou can be performed when standing near a character when their arms are linked together by lightning. Choose 2 players and go into a huge crowd of enemies, press and hold circle until both players have charged up their musou. Unleash your musou and then start again, rinse and repeat until the trophy pops up. Another tricky trophy is having to kill several bosses using the shadow dash move. I never use this attack myself. Simply hit a move until he or she is nearly dead and then press square button once and then X and towards the boss to kill them. Do this 5 times (I think) and the trophy will pop. The above two trophies I didn't have for ages because of our play style. Raely do we use double musou (always on a horse) and we never use shadow dash attacks. Two other slightly tricky trophies are continuing 10 times in 1 day on Career mode and also surviving until Day 50 in Career mode. Neither are difficult but they are both easily missable. There is also a trophy for buying pretty much one of every item, ability, colour etc the first time you buy one in the main menu. Other than that, all other trophies should come to you in time and at random. The two hardest trophies are getting all the hidden armours (playing Career mode 7 times) and completing side quests for all characters on every stage. ============================================================= 10.0 SUPER SPEED GRINDING TIPS It will probably take about 300 to 350 hours to a platinum on this game. But with my tips you should be able to get platinum in about half of that time. I recommend enjoying this game though, but if you do want to get your platinum that bit quicker then this section is for you! It took us 321 hours but we relaxed and had fun. With effort and a bit of planning you could get this as fast as 150-200 hours. Ok, starting from the very beginning after popping your disk in for the first time. First thing you should do is install the game so the loading times are shortened. Start Musou mode and play with anyone, 2 player is also ok. One tip I should get out of the way at the start is always join in player 2 and have that person sitting at the start. You get a fair amount of exp each stage for doing nothing because the mission completions etc are for both players. Never ever play on 1 player alone, this saves grinding later. Play only on tengoku 天国 (Heaven) mode. Only weapon collecting matters with difficulty, all gems and items etc can be obtained on any difficulty. Complete the game with this person you chose for the first time and then go into the shop and unlock Garasha. You need 100万 in stones but you get that much for completing the game with a character for the 1st time. Next complete the game with Garasha on easiest setting. Garasha is amazing on a horse, her S,S,S,T sends out an unblockable beam that goes far and knocks over anyone in the game. Her S,S,T breaks guards. Go up to a boss and S,S,T and then when they are stunned hammer square constantly. These techniques are what you should get used to it as you will be spamming it a lot. When she is not on a horse her R1 attack takes a little time to prepare but it is very powerful and unblockable. Next I would unlock Maeda Keiji, from now on play as Garasha as player 2 and leave Meada Keiji standing still. You can't die even on Tengoku and even when people are hitting you. It takes a long time to be killed on this setting. For the time being hopefully you will be accumulating armours, weapons and horse saddles. For now after Maeda Keiji I would recommend unlocking other characters. My opinion would be to unlock and complete characters in this order whilst playing as Garasha (all will be explained later) Maeda Keiji Fuma Kotarou Oda Nobunaga Mutsuhide Akechi Nene Kunoichi Hanzo Hattori Nohime Mori Ranmaru Ishida Mitsunari Whilst you are doing this make sure Garasha gets all the exp where possible, if you playing 2 player get Garasha mostly killing bosses and player 1 mostly doing missions, killing gate captains and normal soldiers, searching for items etc. Your aim is to get Garasha to level 50 as soon as you can. Look out for gauntlets that have 目利, then power up this element to 2 or 3. It will give you better luck for finding better weapons. The same for 真眼, this will give you better armour. Finally you should also look out for 収集 which will sometimes double the amount of gems you get from killing a boss or gate captain. So it's:- 目利3 = Luck up for weapons 真眼3 = Luck up for armours 収集3 = Doubles gems Once you have these 3 items on a gauntlet make sure to to equip it for everyone, this will really cut down on item and gem grinding. Boss kills are high exp for only the player that kills the boss but missions etc are exp for both players. In Garasha's weapons you are hoping to come across an item that has a red element on it. It gives you extra exp for killing enemies. It looks like this-> 立志 If you come across this element use gems to get it to 立志3 as soon as possible, this will double the exp you get for that character The moment Garasha is level 50, it's time to go into Career mode. (Remember that it is not necessary to have any characters maxed to level 50 for any trophies, it just helps immensely!) _____________________________________________________________ The best thing about career mode is rare gems are plentiful. The bad thing about career mode is that you have to play it many times and it is only a single player game! To get many rare armours and saddles you need to complete this mode 4 times. To get a trophy you need to complete it 7 times. But with tips explained in section 4.0 'CAREER MODE' this mode will go by much quicker. I would recommend from now a bare minimum of 2 completions of career mode is necessary. 4 completions are essential but you can get this mode out of the way and do all 7 now if you like. Depending on whether you have a friend with you, I will let you do decide. But for now I would recommend 4 times. 1st time around: 武力 (1st choice) 2nd time around: 天下 (4th choice) (unlocks after 1st completion) 3nd time around: 知力 (2nd choice) 4th time around: 財力 (3rd choice) Since we chose Garasha as level 50 we get a lot of money for free which allows us to power Garasha up to level 10/11 before the mode even starts. Please check out section 4.0 on how to complete these sections more easily. First of all we want to complete the 1st mission to get the best rare armour, 2nd we will get the matsukaze the fastest horse and the bear. It's a shame we can't play the 4th mission first since matsukaze is what we want asap. 3rd and 4th gives us the best gauntlet and then best boots. The boots are the least useful. the 5th and 6th and 7th times will give us the second best of armour, gauntlet and boots but we will never use them. These are only needed for trophy completion (sadly) _____________________________________________________________ After that bout of grinding we now have the best boots, armour, gauntlet and fastest horse that we can now use for the rest of the game to help speed things up. We should have accumulated a lot of gems too. First thing we need to do is go into the shop. Our Gauntlet has 2 red effects on it which look like this:- 騎神2 覚醒2, modify these elements and add them to 3 each. This makes our ability guage and musou guage power up much faster when riding a horse. So look at the boots. The two red elements on this item are 疾風2 疾光2, not really so useful when we will be spending most of the time moving about on a horse. Replace 瞬躍 with 撃進 and make it up to 3. Now if we kill a boss there is a high chance of getting speed up for 30 seconds. This is very useful when in temples and times we can't use a horse easily. Not only that, in some cases you can run faster than even Matsukaze! The element we replaced was slight invincibility whilst sidestepping which isn't all that useful. Finally in the armour, adjust 闘志 and 再臨 to 3. Equip these 4 items for all characters for the rest of the game. The bear is fun to use but ultimately too slow. I used the bear for Imagawa on shura since he sucks on a horse. _____________________________________________________________ From now on I would recommend playing each level and going for the side missions, having a fast horse makes it easy to go everywhere quickly. From all your rare armour you now have longer combo strings and many other elements that make doing missions that much easier. Even shura is not so hard now because of the all the extra defence and elements we now have. _____________________________________________________________ Back to main musou mode. Each character has 5 stages and 2 rare items. The quickest we can do this is 3 stages on Tengoku, one on hard and one on shura. All characters also need to have their 4 side missions completed. Most of these characters can be completed with a highly powered up Maeda Keiji or Garasha. Garasha is a cheap character, she can hit enemies from a long distance. She is kind of boring to play, Maeda Keiji is better. Much better all around, his Musou is great for racking up a combo whereas Garasha's Musou is a bit tricky to use. Maeda Keiji's R1 grapple attack is very strong and unblockable. For very useful low combo requirements. Kotaro is my 3rd choice, nice all around character but mostly useful for his double jump, sometimes allowing him to defeat bosses quickly and help make meeting those requirements more easily. Fukushima (although I never used him in Career mode) would make a great 4th. His S,S,S,T on a horse like Garasha is also unblockable but shorter range. His standing S,S,S,S,T appears to be completably unblockable. It breaks guard and inflicts damage. Anyway, there is no reason why you can't for most characters just use player 2 to do all the mission requirements. Even a wimpy character can be completed is the character is placed somewhere safe. However some missions are impossible or can get dangerous for enemies suddenly respawning mid level. There are 4 ninjas in the game which require double jump and occassionally missions where the main hero is needed to go talk to someone etc. Also with some characters that are involved with Nobunaga's escape level, the fire means it is very dangerous and probably impossible to complete on shura or difficult. This explains my choice earlier with characters to unlock. With your remaining gems you got on Career mode find a strong weapon (any weapon with a high attack) and then add 立志 as soon as possible to minimise grinding for all characters. Some characters even have this element on their rare weapons! If you are playing on Tengoku I would not equip rare weapons and instead use the weapons with 立志 on them instead. Whilst playing, save all of your gems to put 立志 on a weapon for each character, it's pointless using gems on anything else because you already have the best armour and eventually you will have their strongest rare weapons anyway. Playing on Tengoku is easy anyway, even with the weakest possible weapon equipped. The first four sets of gems are very common though so I would recommend upgrading stats from 1 to 2 in your favourite weapons if only the first 4 gems are used. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. I wouldn't use free mode since you don't get anything unlocked for any characters for doing their side missions. However, a good place for levelling up characters is the Komaki battle 小牧. Either army is ok, there are lots of bosses and only about 1 locked door so it's very easy to ride around, killing all the bosses and finishing the level in about 4 minutes. The side missions are also pretty simple and often can earn you rare gems. To cut down on grinding only play as or use a character has a weapon equipped with 立志. If you don't happen to have enough gems to add that to a weapon or not enough to increase it to a 3 then keep playing with other characters that do have 立志 equipped and are yet to be at least level 45. Check out the other sections in this guide, for getting the most out of the other modes you need to complete to get trophies. ============================================================= 11.0 USEFUL TIPS AND OTHER INFO - There is always about a 10 second loading time before each stage (this is after installing) However if you spend time looking on the map looking at the tactical formation etc the game is loading in the background. It is always (and recommended) to use these 10 seconds and look up the side missions unless you like watching the loading screen. Therefore if you mash to start the level the game won't load any quicker so you may as well make use of this time. - On Kotaro's 2nd Rare Weapon stage there are 2 timed Generals you have to kill. One is 3 minutes and the other is 2. This one is pretty rare in that you must kill one general in under 3 minutes but MUST WAIT until 2 minutes pass before killing the other general. Under 2 minutes kill is a fail! - On Ieyasu Tokagawa's 2nd Rare Weapon stage you have to kill 1 general with less than 5 allies remaining. Therefore go towards the right inside your base and wait until your allies die from the get go. Sadly they are super strong in Shura as well as the enemies so you will have to wait about 10 minutes. If Fukushima starts talking it is likely he is dying, if that happens go over to him and give him food and then go back over to the right again. You can play with 2 players but you will have to wait for another ally to die if you do. Once Hanzo Hattori arrives and dies you should have about 4 allies left. Honda Tadakatsu will not die, or even lose health. If allies aren't dying you will need to lure enemy generals towards your own army and then run away when they start fighting. - On Masamune Date's 1st rare weapon the first side mission is very tough, you need to get a 500 combo and defeat the first boss in front of you. This is very hard because there are very few enemies and if you are not careful your allies may defeat the boss. What I suggest if you hold down circle and power up your musou guage and quickly go to the right and create a combo in the small base nearby. When are you are about 450 or more, use a musou on your horse and then go towards the boss and defeat him. Inside a musou time slows down and so does the time before you have to hit another enemy. There is likely to be no enemies on the route back to the boss. If you are on a 2 player have one player build up the combo at that place while the other person waits nearby by the boss. - On the Komaki city with Nene there is one confusing mission where you have to go and talk to 3 of your allies and also reunite them before together before the final door will open. If you find you have got stuck on this level you need to go over to Fukushima, Katou and Mitsunari and clean up all the enemies they were fighting so they all go and link up. If they already all stood together they are waiting (annoyingly) for you to go over to them and speak to them. - Orange areas of the map with the arrows pointing in one direction. These areas can also be accessed by ninjas, not just the green paths. This is especially useful on certain stage such as in Komaki. - Once a character reaches level 50 you can spend 300 stones to unlock levelling up that character even more. I would probably only suggest this for characters you use a lot or characters that have low maximum health. Maeda Keiji, Garasha and weak characters you have a hard time playing with, unlocking their abilities is a must! - It is not possible to buy and unlock Kotaro's weapon for use on custom characters. I guess his stretchy arms are too difficult to utilise on a custom character. - There are some incredibly difficult time based side missions that must be completed on the hardest setting which are made much easier by playing on two player or equipping and using at the beginning of the level the clock powerup (that slows down time) - There are problems when you play as a ninja. Due to bad design (in my opinion) there are some missions where bosses or multiple bosses must be defeated after double jumping through ninja paths. On 2 player the other player simply has to sit around, wait and do nothing. On one of Kotarou's stages the other player may have to wait for over 5 minutes whilst missions are completed and then finally a door will open. I suggest unless you don't mind waiting that when playing as a ninja character player 2 should also use a ninja that has double jump as well. ============================================================= 12.0 ADVANCED GAME MECHANICS After happily hitting the square button for the trillionth time to kill the billionth enemy, it is natural of course that you may start to notice odd things occuring in the game. Being a games programmer myself I really enjoy wondering how these games work and trying to find bugs. If you are interested in this sort of stuff you might want to check out the guide I did for the Dynasty Warriors games. It details roughly how I believe the game works and details quite a few bugs or interesting things I found in those games. A user called 'wonderpierrot' even make a youtube video of the bugs I found in Dynasty Warriors 4 under "Dynasty Warriors 4 - Awesome Horse Glitches" This included crazy bugs like how to ride an invisible horse or get 2 people to ride the same horse. I'd just like to say thanks to wonderpierrot for that. :) At least somebody enjoys reading my drivel. Ok, onto Samurai Warriors 3Z. _____________________________________________________________ - Glowing items in the distance The rendering in this game uses a system to only render people or objects that are closest to you since it is impossible to render absolutely everything. Enemies may suddenly appear on the screen even though the castle or mountains can be seen much further away. On 2 player this system is even more tight and the game uses fog to try and hide this problem. This has been improved since the DW games but there are still some issues. I have noticed on 2 player the glowing of fallen items and the horse musou effect of the other player seems to always be drawn on the screen. This causes strange effects though because you will suddenly notice a gem you forgot to pick up way in the distance and then when you go over to pick it up all of a sudden a rock or wall will appear in the way and then you can no longer see it. - Invisible Final bosses As covered in my previous game mechanics guide on 2 player this game cannot render the same amount of enemies on screen as a 1 player so the game tries to cut down on the number of enemies that aren't needed to enjoy the action. Bosses appearing in favour of normal enemies and then normal enemies appearing in favour of normal allies etc. However in SW3Z there is a bug that enemies will not appear when too many allies are on screen. There is also the same old problem that sometimes there are too many enemies and allies on 1 players screen that on the other player's screen enemies that are shown on the mini map won't appear. Using Nou hime we managed to have so many allies on the screen that it was impossible for the final boss and enemies to appear on screen. You can replicate it yourself. Use Nohime (we chose Shura) and player 2 as Maeda Keiji and choose the boat level. Go around quickly killing all the bosses as fast as possible but don't go near Mori in his boat yet. Have one player stick around with the boss allies in this level, this ensures that even the normal allies don't die either. Once all the bosses are bosses have the 2nd player seal off as many of the gate captains as well. What you want is to keep as many allies and normal enemies as possible from being killed. Eventually all the character allies will start clumping together, once this happens join up together and stick with your allies and board Mori's boat together. You will know whether or not the bug is likely to work because the allies should constantly appear and reappear on both of your screens when moving around. By the time you get to Mori there should be so many allies on screen that Mori shouldn't appear. If Mori appears I recommend running off the boat and then waiting for more allies to arrive. Now go back to where Mori was and you should find all the allies all stood together, stood still where Mori should be. Mori will be invisible and the game will be able to continue. Now for the fun part, get both players to stand as close as possible to Mori, use the mini map to line yourself up. If you get really close he should appear but only in small bursts. Other enemies may appear too, but they will keep appearing and dissapearing rapidly but also moving very quickly. It kind of looks like flies buzzing around the screen. The only way to get Mori to appear is to get one player to run away to a location where there are no/few enemies and get him/her to look to an area (like say in the corner of a room) using the L1 button where there is not much graphics on the screen. Mori should then appear on the other player's screen. Make sure you don't choose a character for player 2 that normally appears on this level. I have found that rendering the same character twice on screen uses less processing power than two different people. This bug should work on any level if you save enough of your allies but I find this one works best for some unknown reason. - Takeda Shingen slowdown For some unknown reason there are a lot of graphics being rendered for Takeda Shingen's Rare Weapon 1. If you are playing on 2 player and Takeda Shingen appears attacking on both player's screens then the game will suffer from heavy slowdown pretty much no matter where you are fighting. Strangely this doesn't happen when using his 2nd rare weapon. - Vanishing ninja images Hanzo Hattori has an ability that allows him to morph into 4 Hanzos. On a 2 player though it is highly unlikely that the multiple Hanzo Hattori characters won't be rendered on player 2's screen unless there are virtually no other enemies. Same applies to Kotaro's musou and Nene's ability. Rendering 8 Hanzo Hattori's of course is going to be a big hit on the PS3 processor. Either nothing appear at all or sometimes a kind of flicker or ghost image that looks like a ninja. - Nene's fuction reduced morph attack Nene's R1 attack since SW2 has allowed her to morph into various characters. Now since this ability had the potential to break the game Koei made it so you have no choice but to randomly turn into a character that happens to be present on the current stage. As another safe guard to cutting down on memory usage many attacks are disabled such as special attacks with R1, super musou attacks, voices and eve getting on a horse. How often do you see a boss on a horse these days in SW and DW games? These days rarely, in my opinion to cut down on the character animations needed for things like that they simply disabled many of the functions with Nene. In Musou Orochi Z Nene didn't even have this ability. I guess they just couldn't figure out a solution to how she would be able to morph into (potentially) about 20 other characters per level from both SW and DW games. ============================================================= 13.0 TRIVIA - In Japan I live in Okazaki which just happens to be the birth place of Ieyasu Tokugawa, he is famous here and even the recycling rules brochure has a cartoon character version of Ieyasu Tokugawa on it. Of course looking totally different to how he is portrayed in these games. Also the Komaki battle is where my girlfriend lives. Ieyasu and Hideyoshi on that battle are often talking about the future of Okazaki castle which isn't far from where I live. Just seemed a very odd coincidence that we both live in famous areas used in these games. Japanese people are often really impressed I know so many Japanese people from the past because I know the names of all the characters in this game, they are usually much less impressed when I tell them I learnt about the characters and their names from a computer game. :) - The events in these games are very loosely based on history of course, but most of the flamboyant characters we know and love in the games were in reality very tiny old men. The average asian person is smaller than that of the west but in the past they were even smaller. The grave coffin size of Ieyasu Tokugawa is small. So famous faces like Tadakatsu Honda and Maeda Keiji were highly likely to be 5 foot tall old men. - Oda Nobunaga's great great great great.......grandson is called Oda Nobunari and he is a famous and talented Ice skater in Japan and even went to the 2010 Winter Olympics. If he does badly he often cries live on TV during the interviews. Seems that talent runs in the Oda family, I wonder what Oda Nobunaga would think of his family decendent if he were alive today? - The voice actor who played the part as Takeda Shingen and narrator for the character's stories commited suicide in 2010 :( He is really famous in Japan, also famous for other voice overs such as Mr Satan/Hercule in Dragon Ball Z and Heihachi Mishima in the Tekken series. In the upcoming Tekken Tag 2, Heihachi is played by a young Heihachi Mishima with a new voice. As Samurai Warriors 3 was a Wii exclusive before being converted to the PS3 and before Gouri Daisuke commited suicide sometimes a new voice is used for Takeda Shingen on the Career mode. Also for new or old characters that had no story on the Wii version (Garasha, Okuni etc) the narrator's voice is also different. Gouri Daisuke did the voice over for these too. I am glad Koei Tecmo saw fit to include these voices, a fitting memory for such a great voice actor. If you listen closely you can tell the difference. Also the instruction manual also has 2 names for narrator and Takeda if you look closely. ============================================================= =============================END============================= ============================================================= A FAQ by ENAY 07th-13th May 2011 This document is Copyrighted 2011 ENAY. ============================================================= ================== Sengoku Musou 3Z - PS3 =================== =============================================================
