While you're running around and blowing the crap out of everything in sight, you'll most likely see a trophy/achievement pop up. These objectives are pretty easy to understand, for the most part, but there might be a few tricky ones. Note that it doesn't matter which character you use, so it's entirely up to you who you pick. --NOTE-- I have the PS3 version of the game, so I do not know the button inputs for the 360 version of the game. That means I'll be using general terms on what to do, instead of saying "push this button to do this." TROPHIES/ACHIEVEMENTS |=========== ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| |¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ O~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~O There are a total of 40 Trophies/Achievements in the game, with one specific to the PS3 and one specific to the 360 among them all. All of them will be listed in alphabetical order, with the type of trophy/gamerscore listed after, along with a short description of how to obtain that trophy/achievement. .------------------------. ( ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL ) '------------------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 50G This one requires you to verify all HVTs (High Value Targets) in the game. It doesn't matter if you kill them or not, but if you are going for the Aces High trophy/achievement, you'll want to capture them alive. One of the best tips for capturing the HVTs alive is to disable the auto-save feature, save before going for the HVT and if s/he is accidentally killed during the process, then simply quit and reload the file. There are a total of 55 HVTs in the game, spread across all factions, with three attributed to the PMC faction (Blanco, Carmona and depending on your choice, Joyce or Peng). .-----------. ( ACES HIGH ) '-----------' TROPHY -- Gold SCORE -- 50G You have to CAPTURE all HVTs in the game, meaning you cannot kill them and verify them that way. To capture a HVT, you first have to melee him/her, then subdue them when the option comes up, and then call in an evacuation helicopter and load the HVT. This can be a challenge, considering how idiotic some soldiers can be when defending their HVT. As said in the previous entry, disable the auto-save feature in case the HVT in killed in the process of capturing. Another good hint to use is to clear the area of hostiles before calling in the evacuation helicopter to pick up the HVT, while keeping the subdued HVT in a corner somewhere away from the action. .---------------. ( ARMAGEDDON IT ) '---------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G This trophy/achievement differs slightly depending on which version you're playing. For the 360 version, you only have to destroy 20 buildings, while the PS3 version requires you to destroy 25 buildings. This should come naturally throughout the game, especially if you do the target bounties for the factions. You'll need a tank, helicopter with missiles, C4 or airstrikes to destroy the buildings, but it would be wise to use tanks/helicopters (with missiles) instead of wasting money/fuel on airstrikes or C4 supply drops. .-------------------. ( BALLS TO THE WALL ) '-------------------' TROPHY -- Gold SCORE -- 20G This is a rather easy gold trophy for the PS3 version of the game, considering what you have to do. Once you have recruited Ewan, you can find him at the top of the steps in your HQ. You can do a challenge for him where you must stack the toolbox above a specific height within the designated zone using the winch of the helicopter provided. It might be difficult at first, but it will come easy after a few tries. You have to finish all three levels of the Winching Challenge for you to get this trophy/achievement, with the last level requiring the box to be stacked at least 7m (use all three containers for the last one). .---------------------. ( BE QUICK OR BE DEAD ) '---------------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 10G You have to snipe 50 enemy vehicle drivers to obtain this trophy/achievement. The faction has to be hostile to you, so you cannot just shoot friendly drivers. This might be a little easier to get towards the beginning of the game when there are definitely more VZ troops on the map, but it might be easier to some when you get the Anti-Material rifle later on in the game. Go to a spot with a lot of VZ presence and make sure you kill the enemy while they are still in the driver's seat. .-----------------------. ( BILLION DOLLAR BABIES ) '-----------------------' TROPHY -- Gold SCORE -- 25G This is one of the few glitched trophies in the PS3 game, depending on if you played the game a lot before the trophy patch. First and foremost, you need to be connected to the EA servers, so those without an internet connection will most likely not be able to get this trophy/achievement. By far, the easiest way to get one billion dollars is to keep doing the Winching Challenge with Ewan. It's glitched to where the minimum bet can increase to more than the five million maximum bet, so just keep playing it over and over and the amount you win could even reach up to $40 million. .--------------. ( DAMAGE, INC. ) '--------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 50G Ah yes, one of the more infamous glitched trophies/achievements in the game and one of the few Co-Op ones, too. For this trophy/achievement, you must use 20 airstrikes in a co-op session. Unfortunately, using 20 airstrikes will most likely not get you it. One of the better ways to try and get this trophy/achievement is to get someone else to host a co-op game for you and then join it. Once in that game, collect some money (you always seem to start with nothing if you join someone else's co-op game even if you have everything in your own) and maybe get Ewan to pick up some stray airstrikes. Ask your co-op partner to start calling in some airstrikes/supply drops of his/her own, while you call in your own. I do believe that most people have gotten the trophy/achievement when they have not been the host (was my case and someone I was helping, too). That's really all the advice I can offer on this one. .-------------. ( DIGITAL MAN ) '-------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 20G You must unlock all shop items in the game, which is definitely a time-consuming task. To get all of the shop items to unlock, you have to do every side mission, destroy every target bounty, verify all HVTs, do all outpost missions, and collect every spare part. You do NOT need to do the challenges at your PMC HQ and you don't need to do any side missions that give out rewards that don't have "Shop" designated under them. .-------------. ( DIRTY DEEDS ) '-------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 10G This trophy/achievement is pretty easy, since all you have to do is achieve maximum Universal Petroleum mood. Since UP is the first faction you come across, it should be fairly easy to get max mood. You can do missions or do some bounties to increase mood, plus you can kill some PLAV troops to increase it. .--------------. ( EAT THE HEAT ) '--------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- This is a rather simple trophy that can be completed as soon as you get access to a car, but a lot of people get confused on what to do because of the rather vague description. Simply press both the brake and gas at the same time and hold it until you get the trophy/achievement. You may even have to spin your car around (do a donut), so try that if you're not getting it from just holding the buttons down. .------------------------. ( EVERYBODY WANTS SOME!! ) '------------------------' SCORE -- 50G This is a 360-exclusive achievement and all you have to do is either play with a Mercenaries 2 developer (not going to happen now) or play with someone who already has this achievement. .--------------. ( FOREVER FREE ) '--------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 10G This is another max faction trophy/achievement, but with the P.L.A.V., which is the second faction in the game. They have side missions to complete, as well as bounties, one of which is to destroy billboards. You can also kill UP soldiers, but I would say the billboards are the easiest bet. .---------------. ( GONE SHOOTIN' ) '---------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G A pretty simple trophy/achievement this is. All you have to do is complete one of Fiona's challenges when you talk to her at the PMC. The first one available is the Emplaced Weapons challenge, which should be pretty easy to complete at level 1. .---------------. ( HAIL AND KILL ) '---------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G You must destroy 50 objects using your melee attack throughout the game. This isn't hard at all, considering how many boxes and stuff you'll run into through the game. Keep on the lookout for weapon crates and other objects you can melee, and you'll have this trophy/achievement in no time. .---------------------. ( HEAVY METAL THUNDER ) '---------------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 10G Throughout the game, you'll no doubt be hijacking vehicles. This trophy/achievement involves you completing 10 action hijacks, meaning those with a quick-time event (tanks and helicopters). You could simply hijack a tank or copter with an enemy nearby, get out, let the enemy get in and then hijack it again. .---------------. ( HELLO, HOORAY ) '---------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 50G Another story progression trophy/achievement. For this one, you will get it after the second mission is over, where you storm Solano's villa and have it turn into your PMC headquarters. Simply take your time and be on the lookout for the tank when you get inside, and the mission will be over before you know it. .-----------------. ( HIGHWAY TO HELL ) '-----------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 10G Once you have recruited Eva to your team, you can talk to her inside your PMC and she'll offer some races for you to do. Simply complete three of them to acquire this trophy/achievement. The race with the Racing Inferno is a lot easier than the first one, so you should probably do that to get this one. .------------. ( HOLY SMOKE ) '------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G You must destroy 50 objects using grenades throughout the game. You can carry a maximum of 9 grenades at once (not sure if C4 counts, but you can carry a max of 5 of those), so just chuck them at various destroyable objects every chance you get to get this trophy/achievement. .----------------------. ( ISLAND OF DOMINATION ) '----------------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 10G This trophy/achievement is obtained when you gain max faction with the Pirates. The Pirates don't have easy faction boosting like the other factions, but they still have bounties and quite a few side missions, although some of them can be quite a nuisance at the higher levels. .---------------. ( LITTLE SAVAGE ) '---------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G You'll get this trophy/achievement for destroying 50 objects with a RPG, which shouldn't come too far into the game considering the abundance of RPGs you'll come across. Grab one, point it at stuff and press the fire button to blow it up. .------------------. ( LONGING FOR FIRE ) '------------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 10G Yet another faction troph/achievement, this time for the Chinese. The Chinese won't show up until after the "Get Solano" mission, although you will need to talk to Fiona after that mission is complete. As usual, it's not hard to boost this faction, since they have bounties and targets to be destroyed, plus you can kill the UN soldiers. .---------------------------. ( NO COMPROMISE, NO REGRETS ) '---------------------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 20G You'll get this trophy/achievement once you complete the final mission for the Chinese or UN, depending on who you choose. Both missions involve destroying four targets in Caracas and verifying Joyce or Peng. This won't be an easy mission for either side, as there will be a lot of firepower going on in the city and around the HVT. Remember to take out any AA around the area before calling in the extraction for Peng or Joyce. Take your time, and don't be afraid to run away if you're getting your butt kicked. .----------------------. ( NO MORE MR. NICE GUY ) '----------------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 10G Before you try for this trophy/achievement, I would save and then turn off the auto-save function. You should also wait until you have unlocked all factions in the game, since you need to make all of them hate you at once and it's easier if they're all unlocked. It can be quite tiresome to kill a member of one faction and another faction's mood will increase, but there is a simple way of making a faction hate your guts. Simply blow up any of the outposts for any faction and they will instantly hate you, without a huge boost to the opposing faction. The reason you don't want it to save after doing all of this is because it's not fun to increase your faction again for everyone. .-------------------------. ( NOTHIN' BUT A GOOD TIME ) '-------------------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 50G This is the other glitchy co-op trophy, with this one requiring you to destroy 200 objects from the gunner seat of any vehicle. Have one person drive around, while you destroy things from the gunner's seat. A Raven GL might be the best vehicle to use for this because of the explosive rounds (well, any vehicle with a grenade launcher for the gunner seat will work best). .------------------. ( OIL AND GASOLINE ) '------------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G When you recruit Eva near the beginning the game, although it is optional, you will get this trophy/achievement. Of course, Eva's mission before recruiting her has been known to cause some trouble, especially when you run into the VZ presence along the course. Be on the lookout for the one VZ soldier with a RPG, as well as the tank, although the tank shouldn't even come near your position. .-------------------. ( PARTNERS IN CRIME ) '-------------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 50G You'll get this trophy/achievement when you experience co-op for the first time. Since it's very simple, there isn't really anything else that needs to be said. Just remember to have your co-op settings to open if you want the trophy/achievement easily, or get someone you know to join your game. .----------. ( PIPELINE ) '----------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 20G Once you capture all outposts for a single faction, you'll acquire the trophy/achievement. It's easiest to just do this for the Universal Petroleum faction, since it's the first one you'll run into in the game. The P.L.A.V faction also has easy outpost missions, so either one is fine. .-----------------. ( RIDE THE DRAGON ) '-----------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 10G This trophy/achievement can be acquired during the mission at the beginning where you have to take over Solano's villa. Once you take out his entourage, you're asked to enter inside the villa. Once inside, a tank will bust through the wall and you will need to hijack it to get the trophy/achievement. Simply push the action button when prompted and your character will start a quick-time event in which you must push the correct buttons when prompted to hijack the tank. .------------------------. ( RUNNIN' WITH THE DEVIL ) '------------------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 20G This trophy/achievement will be acquired once you verify Blanco on the oil rig during the "Finding Blanco" mission. This can be an annoying mission, as there will be a lot of VZ presence, including helicopters. Once you get Blanco to appear after reaching the marked room, he'll start running away. Either kill him or melee/tie him, then call in an evacuation (after destroying the AA around the area). .--------------. ( SCHOOL'S OUT ) '--------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G You'll get this trophy/achievement as part of the storyline, at the beginning of the game (in-game description is "Complete the tutorial"). .-----------------. ( SHOOT TO THRILL ) '-----------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G You'll get this trophy/achievement when you get 25 headshots. Remember to always aim for the head while you're shooting and you'll get it in no time. If you need extra help, then make sure to pick up a sniper rifle as it will make it easier for headshots. .--------------------. ( STAND UP AND SHOUT ) '--------------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 10G This is the max faction trophy/achievement for the AN (Allies) faction. As with the Chinese faction, the UN one doesn't unlock until after the "Get Solano" mission and talking with Fiona in the PMC. If you need any help improving your mood, kill Chinese soldiers, do missions or get some bounties done. .----------------------. ( TATTOOED MILLIONAIRE ) '----------------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 25G First and foremost, make sure you're connected to the EA servers before attempting to get this trophy/achievement, since it's been known to glitch on people before. You just need to acquire one million dollars while connected to get it, which should happen after a few main storyline missions. If it glitches on you, you might want to try to quit and reload the game to see if that works. Otherwise, you may be out of luck as there isn't really a known way to sidestep the glitch. .----------------. ( THE ANALOG KID ) '----------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G You'll get this trophy/achievement once you recruit Misha for your PMC group. He is optional, but you should definitely pick him up if you ever want to use airstrikes. The mission is pretty easy for the most part, but make sure you be careful around the airstrikes before you pick them up, although you only really need one. Once you get to the bunker, make sure you have full fuel, since you'll need all 300 to call in the bunker buster. .-------------------------. ( THE HERO AND THE MADMAN ) '-------------------------' TROPHY -- Gold SCORE -- 50G This is the trophy/achievement you get for finishing the game (you'll get it as soon as you get Solano at the end). The final stretch has the longest quick time event, but it shouldn't be too bad since you have a checkpoint just before using the nuclear bunker buster. .----------. ( THE RAGE ) '----------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G You'll get this trophy after you complete the mission called "Rescue Carmona," which is the first mission in the game. Take your time, making sure to kill any soldiers in the way. I do believe there is one soldier in the middle of the mission that has a RPG, so he should definitely be a priority, but nothing else comes to mind that is particularly dangerous. .--------------------. ( WE'LL BURN THE SKY ) '--------------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 50G This trophy/achievement can be quite confusing, as there are a total of 22 landing zones in the game across all factions. Yes, across ALL factions, including the Chinese AND UN. That means that you should make sure to do at least one mission for each of those factions so you unlock those landing zones. Besides that, you have to do all of the outpost missions in the game. .-----------------. ( WHEELS OF STEEL ) '-----------------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 50G This is a rather simple trophy/achievement to complete, considering all you have to do is win a race in co-op. Simply have another player join your game, start one of Eva's races and finish in first place. You could trade wins with the other player in order to get it, if you want. .----------. ( WILD ONE ) '----------' TROPHY -- Bronze SCORE -- 20G You'll get this trophy/achievement when you recruit Ewan, who joins automatically during one of the first Universal Petroleum missions. It isn't a hard mission, although it can be annoying with some of the areas. Just make sure to take your time and don't get too ahead of yourself, and you'll be fine. .-----------------. ( WORLD IN FLAMES ) '-----------------' TROPHY -- Platinum This is a PS3 exclusive trophy and is obtained by getting all other trophies in the game. The hardest and more time consuming trophies are the shop items one and the HVTs ones. There are also the annoying and glitchy trophies, like the airstrike co-op, gunner co-op and money trophies. .----------------. ( YOU BETTER RUN ) '----------------' TROPHY -- Silver SCORE -- 20G This is the trophy/achievement you get for verifying Carmona, who comes out of hiding during the second part of the mission, "Get Solano." Once you find out that a normal bunker buster doesn't work on Solano's fort, you'll receive word that your PMC is under attack. The easiest way to get back there is to grab a VZ copter beforehand and use its disguise to fly your way back. Once you destroy all the targets attacking the PMC, you'll be told to go inside. After that, Carmona will try to escape. The EASIEST way to get Carmona is to go straight after him as soon as you're back outside after the cutscene. Get him and then take care of the goons around. If you let him get away initially, he'll be a lot harder to catch and you'll have to deal with tanks. The two money ones are a bit screwy and don't really have any known fixes, since the best fix is for EA to wipe the leaderboards. The co-op ones can pretty much be obtained by joining a game and not being the host (how I got mine and have heard this enough to be a close truth). Q) Do cheats really prevent me from getting a trophy/achievement? A) Yes, they do for that file only. So, if you plan on using cheats, then make a separate file for it from your main trophy/achievement hunting one.
