Yo this is russian_botnet coming at you with some help for a classic racer that's near and dear to my heart, even after all these years. I'm talking about Burnout 3: Takedown, and I'm talking about the vehicle-based Signature Takedowns in it. They can be a pain in the butt for those trying to collect them all, so I thought I'd share some of my experience (and a bit of other peoples' experience) having played this game throughout the years. Fairly short FAQ, I know, but hey - quality over quantity, right? ---- First a couple general tips that will help you with all Signature Takedowns, not just the ones in this guide: -You should use Compact, Muscle or Coupe class cars to go hunting for them. Sports and Super cars are, in my experience, simply too fast to reliably position yourself for the takedowns, not to mention the AI will be fast too since they use cars from whatever class you're using. -Be patient. If you're just not getting one, or if you're getting frustrated, try for a different one or take a break. -You should try beating the World Tour normally before specifically going after the Signature Takedowns. That way you'll have the tracks unlocked, you'll have the right cars and hopefully enough skill to go after them, and you may even just earn some normally, which is always nice. -A word of advice on the Riviera takedowns: on the Southbound track, they are apparently glitched. Completing Berth Trauma (takedown by the marina) actually rewards you with Riviera Roustabout (takedown into the roundabout center) instead, or at least that's what happened to me. On the Northbound track they thankfully work correctly. I'm certainly not the only one to report this, but I haven't seen it mentioned outside ancient forum posts and speedrunner circles. ---- Now for the vehicle-based takedowns themselves. As much as I like this game I really don't feel like spending hours racing a particular circuit in the hopes of getting lucky. So, after a bit of observation I realized there were event and race starts where most of the required vehicles were guaranteed to be from the start. This takes most of the luck out of the equation - now all you have to do is actually score a takedown into the vehicle, which...still takes a bit of luck, but also some skill. It will almost surely take multiple tries, sometimes a fair number, so remember to keep trying. Homewrecked - takedown into a mobile home. There is always a motorhome in the oncoming lane after the first left on the Silver Lake Muscle Series Eliminator. Maneuver yourself into a position where you can try slamming an AI rival into it, and restart if you fail. Truck Torpedo - takedown into an 18-wheeler hauling a speedboat. Waterfront Westbound will always have a boat trailer on the oncoming lane at the start, near the end of the tunnel. It's a straight shot, as long as you're in the correct lane you can't miss it. There are no World Tour events with other drivers that take place on the westbound track, so you will have to set up a single event road rage. This one's relatively easier than the others on this list; those trucks are big targets and it still counts if your takedown hits the cab instead of the trailer with the boat on it. Tram Ram - takedown into a tram. Unfortunately I don't know if there are any reliable starts where you can quickly find a tram in Waterfront. You'll have to use a method Burnout pro Mopsi cooked up that's outlined in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve5VA63458k Euro Tram Ram - takedown into a European tram. There is always a tram coming up the road after the first right on the first Frozen Peak Face-off. You will want to have won this Face-off first so you're on a more even footing with the Dominator Coupe you're up against. You'll have to try and corral the other car so you can slam them into the tram, but not the car driving to the left of it, without wrecking yourself in the process. If it's not working for you and you want to try another method, the Winter City Eliminator is lousy with them, but you'll still need some skill to actually get takedowns into them. That's also probably the best place in the game to try for the "2 tram takedowns in a race" challenge goal. Snowed Under - takedown into a snowplow truck. There are always two snowplows up the road a bit at the beginning of the Coupe Series Alpine Road Rage. You'll be able to catch up to the AI ahead just in time to try and slam one of them into a truck. These trucks are also present in Winter City but I don't know of any guaranteed spots there. Grapes of Wrath - takedown into a wine van. Vineyard Southbound has 2 guaranteed wine van spawns at the start, after the big left u-turn. In the oncoming lane curving back to your left 1 truck will be turning off the track and then a bit up the road there is a chance for another one to spawn around the turning arrows. It's best to attempt this one with a single event race and restarting if you don't get it after the turning arrows. Vineyard Northbound has 2 wine vans quite close to the start right around that first right turn, but they're harder to hit, so I'd recommend trying Southbound unless it somehow just isn't working at all for you. Tuk-Down - takedown into...what else, a tuk-tuk. Tuk-tuks are pretty small, but Golden City has a lot of them. Since I unfortunately don't know of any guaranteed spawns, all I can really say is to try a road rage on Golden City Northbound, since that pretty much starts you on the freeway - a wide space with a decent amount of tuk-tuks to try it with. The whole track is pretty short so if you don't get one on the freeway you could try on the city streets after, and then loop around the rest of the track to try again. This one is actually okay to use Sports/Super cars with, since it's not too unlikely you'll get a Tuk-down amidst all the chaos that's sure to be going on. Catch the Tour Bus - takedown into a tour bus. You can actually get this with ANY bus in Asia, since apparently they're ALL tour buses. Buses are obviously present in Island Paradise, but they're even more abundant in Golden City and there's even some in Dockside. I unfortunately don't have any guaranteed spawn information for these buses either, but honestly you should be able to earn this one easily using the same method I outlined for Tuk-Down, especially since buses are...you know...bigger than tuk-tuks. If you're not having much luck (I don't know why you wouldn't for this one but hey, gotta be prepared) you could also try Island Paradise Northbound and aim for the buses in the bus terminal about 40 seconds in, since they're guaranteed to be there. ---- That's pretty much it. Thanks to LohaTronsRS, NBOCD and Mopsi for providing information on some of these, and thanks to selmiak for his linebreak tool. Shoutouts to the whole speedrunners' Burnout Discord server for being generally awesome and keeping the flame alive for all these years. Man, I feel old writing about Discord on GameFAQs. For the record, this is VERSION 1.1 of this guide completed on December 15th, 2018. I don't own anything related to Burnout and I'm not out to make money with this guide.
