Welcome to the Onimusha 3 script translation FAQ! If you have the Japanese
version of Onimusha 3 and would like to know what the characters are actually
saying in the cutscenes, this FAQ is for you.
This is NOT a walkthrough or item FAQ. Nor have I translated every instance
of speech (such as Mino Oyaji's speeches at the entrances of the Phantom
Realms.)
I am aware that the French dialogue doesn't always agree with what I have here.
It has been quite a while since I took up French, and so I have used the
Japanese script lines in my translation. If anyone would like to contribute the
French lines for a future version, they would be welcome.
In reading this FAQ, text in brackets ([]) indicate actions taking place in a
scene (hopefully enough to indicate when a line is spoken). Text surrounded by
asterisks (***) indicate actions that a player must take to trigger a scene.

Text: Nine years have passed since that time.
Oda Nobunaga, who was destroyed by Yagyu Jubei, was reborn
as the Genma King, and has become even more powerful.
Sensing danger, Akechi Mitsuhide launched a raid on Honnoji
Temple, where Nobunaga is.
Meanwhile, the Genma armies headed to Honnoji to provide
reinforcements for Nobunaga.
[A ninja (guess who?) fights his way through a Genma ship. He eventually meets
a powerful Genma warrior, GARGANTO.]
GARGANTO: Wait.
That man...I will kill him.
SAMANOSUKE: Garganto!
GARGANTO: Long time no see...Samanosuke.
SAMANOSUKE: You...I will never let you join Nobunaga!
[SAMANOSUKE and GARGANTO fight, and eventually SAMANOSUKE wins.]
NOBUNAGA: Samanosuke...

[JACQUES BLANC is sitting on his motorcycle, calling his son, HENRI.]
HENRI: Hello?
JACQUES: Henri?
HENRI: Oh, it's you, Papa.
JACQUES: Henri, were you still sleeping? Hurry and get up or you'll be
late for school.
HENRI: Yeah.
JACQUES: Don't forget to brush your teeth.
And then tell Yvette, the lady next door, that when I come home
I'd like to repay her kindness for dinner the other day.
HENRI: O.K.
When will you be back home, Papa?
JACQUES: I think I'll be back tonight.
And don't forget...
[JACQUES is interrupted by a call from his radio.]
PHILIPPE: JACQUES! JACQUES!
JACQUES: I'll talk to you later, Henri.
What's going on, Philippe?
PHILIPPE: Come here immediately!
It's getting really bad!
[JACQUES starts up his bike, and roars off.]
[Genma demons rampage through Paris, killing civilians left and right.]

[AKECHI SAMANOSUKE appears in front of MITSUHIDE.]
MITSUHIDE: Good work.
[SAMANOSUKE and MITSUHIDE nod, then MITSUHIDE nods to a retainer carrying
armor.]
RETAINER: Here you are, Sir Samanosuke...
MITSUHIDE: Men!
The enemy is in Honnoji!
LET'S GO!
[MITSUHIDE's men charge in. SAMANOSUKE draws his sword...]
***After Samanosuke battles his way to the entrance...***
[SAMANOSUKE enters the burning temple. He comes face to face with ODA
NOBUNAGA. Off to NOBUNAGA's side is MORI RANMARU.]
SAMANOSUKE: Nobunaga...
NOBUNAGA: (laughs) So you're Akechi Samanosuke...
SAMANOSUKE: Now the time has finally come...
PREPARE YOURSELF!
RANMARU: My lord...please allow me!
The head of Oda's personal guard, Mori Ranmaru...
Is here!
***After Samanosuke beats Ranmaru...***
[RANMARU falls after SAMANOSUKE slashes him. RANMARU attempts to get up.]
RANMARU: M-My lord...
[RANMARU falls, supposedly dead. Now SAMANOSUKE and NOBUNAGA face each other
alone. NOBUNAGA laughs, then sends green energy bolts at SAMANOSUKE, one of
which knocks him down. As NOBUNAGA prepares to finish him, a circle forms on
the ground, which grows and surrounds SAMANOSUKE...]
NOBUNAGA: What's this?
[SAMANOSUKE is swallowed up by the portal and disappears.]

[Back to Paris, where a group of soldiers prepare to face some Genma.]
PHILIPPE: FIRE!
[They do. It has little effect.]
PHILIPPE: What are these things?
[A Genma soldier slashes PHILIPPE.]
SOLDIERS: Captain!
Are you all right?
[The Genma proceed to massacre the squad. PHILIPPE is backed up against a wall
by a group of Genma. Suddenly, JACQUES appears...]
JACQUES: I'm coming!
PHILIPPE: Jacques!
***After Jacques shoots the Genma...***
JACQUES: Philippe...hang on!
PHILIPPE: Don't worry about me, just get out of here, Jacques.
JACQUES: You think I could do that?
Hang in there, Philippe.
Shit.
[More Genma appear.]
JACQUES: So they're back...
DIE!
[JACQUES shoots up some Genma, then a bright blue flash appears.]
JACQUES: What?
What's that?
[Alleyway. SAMANOSUKE appears.]
SAMANOSUKE: What is this place...
Where is he!?
[SAMANOSUKE looks down at his gauntlet to find his power gone.]
SAMANOSUKE: My Oni power...
***After Samanosuke exits the alleyway...***
[JACQUES is shooting singlehandedly at a group of Genma.]
JACQUES: Shit! SHIIT!!
Out of ammo...!
[JACQUES faces down a couple of Genma, with no gun.]
JACQUES: Come on!
[SAMANOSUKE wipes the Genma out.]
JACQUES: ...A samurai?
SAMANOSUKE: Hey...where am I?
JACQUES: Who are you?
Where'd you come from?
[SAMANOSUKE, unable to parler francais, walks away.]
JACQUES: Philippe!
[The same portal that swallowed SAMANOSUKE now engulfs PHILIPPE and JACQUES.
SAMANOSUKE runs toward it, but is unable to do anything. As he walks away,
he finds a strange device at his feet. He looks up to see...]
SAMANOSUKE: That guy's...

[A group of soldiers opens the door to l'Arc de Triomphe.]
SOLDIER: Enter!
MICHELE: Go. (Turning to Samanosuke)
You don't understand what I'm saying?
SAMANOSUKE: A foreign language...
What are you saying?
[MICHELE runs off.]
SAMANOSUKE: Hey, wait!
[MICHELE is attacked, but SAMANOSUKE rescues her. SAMANOSUKE fights to the
top of l'Arc de Triomphe to see...]
SAMANOSUKE: Guildenstern!
GUILDENSTERN: (Laughing) Samanosuke...Long time no see.
I didn't think you'd show up...
The time warp seems to be still unstable.
SAMANOSUKE: Time warp? What are you talking about?
So this is all your doing!?
GUILDENSTERN: (Laughs) Impudent worm, as usual.
SAMANOSUKE: What is this place?
GUILDENSTERN: Here? This is Paris, the capital of France.
But it's the future, 500 years later than the Sengoku(*1) world
that you were in.
SAMANOSUKE: What?
GUILDENSTERN: Under Lord Nobunaga's orders, the Genma started a new operation
in this land.
SAMANOSUKE: You...What the hell are you up to?
GUILDENSTERN: I can't explain that to you easily.
Oh, I know!
I'll introduce my new son to you!
BRAINSTERN!
[A huge robot, BRAINSTERN, appears.]
GUILDENSTERN: Eliminate the meddler! (Laughs)

Mount Hiei.]

Are you all right?
PHILIPPE: Why'd...this have to happen...?
I'd made up my mind to die with my wife and daughter by my
side...
Just my luck, that instead it'll be in your arms...
JACQUES: ...Philippe! Philippe!
[PHILIPPE dies.]
JACQUES: Rest in peace...
...my friend.
This place...where am I...?
***As JACQUES wanders deeper into the forest, he hears a scream...***
JACQUES: What!?
[JACQUES recognizes the voice...]
HENRI: Papa!
JACQUES: Henri!
HENRI: Papa, help!
JACQUES: Wait for me, Henri!
[JACQUES shoots, but it has no effect on the Genma monster...]
JACQUES: Shit! My bullets...
Henri!
[JACQUES is swatted back by the monster.]
HENRI: Papa!!
[HENRI faints, and as JACQUES gets up, his arm glows...]
JACQUES: My arm...
What is this?
***After Jacques kills the Genma...***
JACQUES: Henri!
Are you all right? Why are you here?
["HENRI" disappears, and an ONI appears...]
ONI: Person of a foreign land...
I am now speaking directly to your heart.
Listen carefully to what I am about to say now.
This is Japan, 500 years before your time.
JACQUES: What are you talking about?
More than that, where is Henri!?
ONI: Your son is in the time period from which you came.
That last thing was an illusion.
JACQUES: An illusion...What do you mean?
ONI: Now, this place is overflowing with Genma, which are trying
to control humankind.
JACQUES: Genma?
ONI: They are the monsters that also appeared in your time.
Ten days from now, you and Akechi Samanosuke, who like you
was chosen by the Oni...
...shall fight at Honnoji Temple, where you must defeat the
Genma King, Oda Nobunaga.
However, in their current condition, Samanosuke and the
others have no chance of winning.
If you wish to return to your time, and see your son again...
...you must join forces with Samanosuke, and defeat Nobunaga
at Honnoji.
JACQUES: Don't give me that! Return me to where I was before!
ONI: Karasu-tengu(*2)...
Help this man until he defeats Nobunaga.
[The karasu-tengu AKO yawns and stretches.]
JACQUES: Hey, wait!
ONI: Make full use of the Oni power that I have given you...
JACQUES: I'm not finished talking to you!
[JACQUES feels a tapping near the bottom of his leg...]
AKO: Don't lose your cool, Mister.
My name's Ako. I'm a member of the Karasu-tengu clan.
Nice to meet you!
[JACQUES suddenly can speak Japanese...]
JACQUES: What's this...I can understand your language!
AKO: That's because of my power.
With me around, it's like an oni with an iron club (*3).
I have a lot of powers, I'm agile, I'm smart...
JACQUES: I have no use for a fly. Go away!
AKO: How rude! I'm not a fly!
I SAID I was a karasu-tengu!
JACQUES: I'm going back to where I came from, one way or another.
Surely there must be a way.
I just need to find it...
***After Jacques makes his way deeper into the mountain, Samanosuke suddenly
appears...***
JACQUES: That man is...!
***After Samanosuke and Jacques beat up some Genma...***
SAMANOSUKE: Hey! That gauntlet...
JACQUES: You're the guy who appeared in Paris, aren't you!?
It's your fault I'm here!
How am I going to get back to where I was!?
SAMANOSUKE: Let go!
What are you talking about?
Are you one of those "Southern Barbarians"(*4)?
AKO: Stop it, Jacques!
This is Samanosuke, another man who wields Oni power.
[SAMANOSUKE and JACQUES talk to each other.]
SAMANOSUKE: That story's hard to believe...
JACQUES: But it seems to be true.
SAMANOSUKE: ...I see. I believe you.
AKO: By the way, what were you doing here, Samanosuke?
SAMANOSUKE: Recently, the actions of the Genma around here have been
suspicious, so I came to investigate...
This is Mount Hiei. Since Nobunaga burned it down 11 years
ago, it's become a hideout for Genma.
JACQUES: So defeating Nobunaga is the only way to return to my time...
Let's go!
I must return back to the future. Until then, I'm counting
on you.
My name is Jacques Blanc.
Call me Jacques.
[Apparently, SAMANOSUKE has never shaken hands before. He learns quickly.]
SAMANOSUKE: I am Akechi Samanosuke Hidemitsu.
***After JACQUES and SAMANOSUKE reach the statue where the "Enjaken" whip is
found...***
JACQUES: It looks like something like that thing there was placed here.
SAMANOSUKE: Yes, it seems that way.
We might find a clue if we continue on.
Let's split up and search.
JACQUES: Got it.
***After Jacques opens the gate...***
SAMANOSUKE: Thanks.
JACQUES: Let's go.
It looks like there's something ahead.
***After Jacques enters the main building...***
[JACQUES and SAMANOSUKE look around. Suddenly, someone laughs...]
RANMARU: Sir Akechi...sneaking and sniffing around like that...are you
a mouse?
SAMANOSUKE: Who the hell are you?
RANMARU: I am the head of Oda's personal guard,
Mori Ranmaru.
Oh? I see you're with someone whom I'm not used to seeing.
Are you so desperate that you have to involve a Southern
Barbarian?
JACQUES: You're human. Why do you ally yourself with monsters like
them?
RANMARU: That has nothing to do with you. You're going to die here.
[MARCELLUS arrives.]
RANMARU: Samanosuke...My lord is already aware of Sir Mitsuhide's plan
to rebel. (Laughs)
SAMANOSUKE: Wait!
Jacques...Take care of things here!
JACQUES: Hey!
***After Jacques defeats Marcellus and collects the souls...***
[JACQUES falls to his knees.]
AKO: Are you OK, Mister?
JACQUES: Shit!
I'll be damned if I die before I meet Henri!
AKO: Henri? Oh, your son.

I'll go and tell him that you're safe.
JACQUES: What!?
AKO: I said I had many powers, didn't I?

AKO: What are you saying? I'm...
Oh...right.
The Samanosuke here is different from the one before.
Aagh..it's so complicated.
I'm Ako.
I came from the Sengoku period to help you.
[MICHELE heads to the door.]
SAMANOSUKE: Wait!
I'm sorry.
I couldn't save your comrades.
MICHELE: What?
So...that was real...
Monsters!
[MICHELE, finally realizing what she has just said, is surprised.]
MICHELE: I understand your language!
AKO: Thanks to me!
I have many powers.
Samanosuke, unless you defeat all the Genma here in Paris, you
can't return back to your time.
SAMANOSUKE: What?
AKO: Meanwhile, someone named Jacques is fighting Genma there.
MICHELE: Did you say "Jacques"!?
AKO: You know him?
That guy is fighting pretty tenaciously.
MICHELE: Jacques...so he survived...
AKO: Huuh...
So you're Jacques' fiancee, Michele?
That guy's pretty popular, isn't he.
MICHELE: Right.
But that Jacques is in Japan during the Sengoku period...
SAMANOSUKE: With another me...
That story's hard to believe.
[MICHELE'S radio hisses.]
MICHELE: This is Aubert.
SOLDIER: Monsters in the sewer! Request assistance!
MICHELE: Roger. We're going there right now!
SAMANOSUKE: Those things again...?
MICHELE: Can I count on you to eliminate the monsters?
My comrades are calling for help.
SAMANOSUKE: Of course.
MICHELE: Then come with me.
SAMANOSUKE: All right.
***After Samanosuke enters the first room in the sewer...***
[A SOLDIER is found badly wounded.]
MICHELE: Are you OK? Hang in there!
SOLDIER: I was beaten by some monsters...
The squad is all over the place...
MICHELE: Some of are comrades are still there ahead, right?
SOLDIER: Yeah...save them...

***After Samanosuke examines the panel...***
MICHELE: The power is out.
We'll have to restart it by hand.
***After Samanosuke cuts the chain to the huge ball...***
[MICHELE'S radio beeps.]
MICHELE: This is Aubert.
SOLDIER: Help! Monsters!
MICHELE: Got it! We'll be right there!
My comrades are ahead. But they won't last much longer.
We must hurry!
***After Samanosuke and Michele fight their way up the sewer...***
[MICHELE and SAMANOSUKE find a SOLDIER.]
MICHELE: Are you all right?
SOLDIER: Yeah...that was close.
...Who's he?
MICHELE: A Japanese samurai. He's an expert at monster elimination.
SOLDIER: Oh...Now, even little things surprise me...
Anyway, thank you for rescuing me.
MICHELE: Our forces will need to regroup.
SOLDIER: I'll call for backup.
***After they leave the sewer...***
AKO: Waait!
Ooh, that was stiinky!
SAMANOSUKE: This is...
AKO: A church. It's like a big temple.
[The cell phone rings.]
SAMANOSUKE: Hmm?
[SAMANOSUKE holds the phone, unsure of what to do.]
MICHELE: That's Jacques'!
Give it to me!
Hello! Jacques!?
Oh...
...Yes, that's right.
I'll tell you more. I'll be right there. (hangs up)
It wasn't Jacques.
It was Jacques' son Henri.
This is a tool that you can use to talk.
Let's go to Jacques' house.

HENRI: Where's Papa?

[SAMANOSUKE enters.]
HENRI: Who's that!?
MICHELE: This is Samanosuke. He's a samurai from Japan.
HENRI: Hmmm...
MICHELE: Papa is...
Jacques is somewhere far away, and won't be able to come home
for a while.
HENRI: What? Where do you mean, "far away"?
Where!! (AKO appears)
WHAT ARE YOU!?
AKO: I am Ako, a karasu-tengu.
Jacques is in Japan, 500 years in the past.
HENRI: Japan!?
MICHELE: Henri, listen carefully.
Actually...
[After hearing the story, HENRI nods.]
AKO: He said that even though he can't come back right away, he
still wants you to be a good boy and behave.
HENRI: Right...
MICHELE: Cheer up, Henri.
[MICHELE attempts to comfort HENRI, but he pushes her away.]
HENRI: Stop it!
AKO: (whispering) It seems like those two don't get along well.
Well, I've met Henri, so I'll go back to Jacques.
SAMANOSUKE: Give him my regards.
AKO: OK!

AKO: Oh, and Samanosuke said to do your best.
JACQUES: Oh, the future Samanosuke, right?

AKO: Where?

[A beeping sound is heard from a box. JACQUES opens it to find a watch.]
JACQUES: This is...
It's something that only exists in my time.
Where'd it come from?
SAMANOSUKE: Probably from Sakai in Senshu(*5).
JACQUES: Samanosuke!
What about that guy before?
[SAMANOSUKE shakes his head, then goes to the box.]
SAMANOSUKE: There's a mark of a merchant in Sakai here.
It's a port town that trades with outside countries.
JACQUES: A port town...
OK. Let's go there.
[Cut to...]
TEXT: (SENSHU--SAKAI)
JACQUES: So this is Sakai.
SAMANOSUKE: There must be some connection with Genma here.
Let's split up and investigate.
JACQUES: Got it.

[JACQUES takes the "Oni Army Pearl" in his hand. SAMANOSUKE arrives.]

SAMANOSUKE: Yeah, that's it.

SAMANOSUKE: I will control the Oni from here.

JACQUES: Yeah!
[With a yell, JACQUES charges in.]
***After Jacques fights his way to the castle...***
[HEIHACHI is busy attacking a group of Genma soldiers.]
JACQUES: Heihachi!
HEIHACHI: Oh! Jacques!
You're here! Well done!
JACQUES: Yeah. They gave me a bit of trouble there.
You?
HEIHACHI: Yeah, it took some time dealing with the lackeys, but
I've wiped out most of the Genma in the castle.
What's Samanosuke up to?
JACQUES: He's controlling the Oni soldiers.
HEIHACHI: Oh, really...
Great!
Now there are only a few left in the castle, so there's no
way he'll be able to escape!
RANMARU: Sir Honda...
[Up above them is RANMARU.]
RANMARU: Do you really intend to annoy my lord?
HEIHACHI: You got it!
I'm gonna hang Nobunaga's head on this spear!
RANMARU: Hmph...you've got power, if nothing else.

[BEGADONNA staggers over to NOBUNAGA's armor.]

[BEGADONNA dies. A ladder appears.]

[HEIHACHI is lying in a puddle of blood.]
JACQUES: Heihachi! Hold on!

[SAMANOSUKE runs in.]
JACQUES: Samanosuke...
SAMANOSUKE: What happened?
HEIHACHI: F-fell into Ranmaru's trap...
I was defeated...
JACQUES: Heihachi!
HEIHACHI: Jacques...Samanosuke...
Nobunaga isn't here.
He's in Honnoji Temple.
JACQUES: What!?
HEIHACHI: The G-Genma...
And Nobunaga...destroy them...
[HEIHACHI dies.]

[AKO starts to cry. SAMANOSUKE rises to his feet.]

JACQUES: Ako, go to Henri.
Papa's going to be in the final battle.
AKO: At last, this will be the decisive battle...

[AKO disappears. Cut to a scene of MICHELE's car heading to the Eiffel Tower.]
[The Eiffel Tower is ahead as SAMANOSUKE and MICHELE look up. Suddenly, AKO
appears.]
HENRI: Ako!
AKO: Jacques is headed towards Honnoji.
If things go well, he'll soon be able to come home!
HENRI: Really!? Papa's coming back!?
[MICHELE smiles, but SAMANOSUKE looks perturbed.]
MICHELE: What's the matter, Samanosuke?
SAMANOSUKE: If things go badly, Nobunaga will come to this world.
We've got to stop the time warp device somehow...
Michele, stay here with Henri.
Let's go, Ako!
AKO: OK.
***After Samanosuke reaches the top of the Eiffel Tower...***
[A shot of the time warp device. RANMARU is nearby. SAMANOSUKE arrives.]
RANMARU: (Laughs)
SAMANOSUKE: Ranmaru!
RANMARU: So you survived, Samanosuke...
But you're too late!
Everything is ready for my lord to arrive.
SAMANOSUKE: I won't let you do that!
RANMARU: Shouting now won't help you.
[RANMARU brandishes his blades.]
RANMARU: I shall take your head as a present for my lord!
***After Samanosuke defeats Ranmaru...***
[RANMARU falls.]
RANMARU: Samanosuke...why you...
[RANMARU reaches for a lever.]
SAMANOSUKE: STOP!
[RANMARU pulls the lever, activating the device.]
SAMANOSUKE: Shit!
[Power runs up the Eiffel Tower. RANMARU laughs.]
RANMARU: Finally...my lord will arrive!
Lord!!
[RANMARU falls. SAMANOSUKE attempts to slash the machine, but nothing happens.]
SAMANOSUKE: It's no use...
AKO: Samanosuke...
SAMANOSUKE: Ako!
We must prevent Nobunaga from coming here at all costs!
AKO: Right!
[AKO vanishes. SAMANOSUKE is alone at the top of the Eiffel Tower, with Paris
at night visible below.]

[Back to Honnoji Temple. A group of Akechi retainers, led by Akechi Mitsuhide,
are at the gate. A path clears for SAMANOSUKE and JACQUES.]
MITSUHIDE: I'm counting on you.
[They nod. The gate opens.]
MITSUHIDE: Men!
The enemy is in Honnoji!
LET'S GO!
[The men charge. SAMANOSUKE and JACQUES walk in and ready their weapons.]
***After Jacques and Samanosuke make it to the main temple...***
[RANMARU blocks the path.]
RANMARU: I will not allow you to come any further.
SAMANOSUKE: Ranmaru!
[SAMANOSUKE attempts to advance, but JACQUES holds him back.]
JACQUES: Leave this to me.
I will take revenge for Heihachi!
[JACQUES leaps over RANMARU's slash. He then disarms him and beats him up
before finally uppercutting him over the edge, killing him.]
JACQUES: Heihachi...I've avenged you...
SAMANOSUKE: Let's go. Nobunaga is in there.
***When Jacques and Samanosuke enter the main temple...***
[NOBUNAGA is alone in the blazing temple. SAMANOSUKE and JACQUES arrive.]
NOBUNAGA: So you've come...
First Yagyu Jubei...
Now...
Akechi Samanosuke...
Do you dare to stand in my way again, wielder of Oni power...
It cannot be helped.
SAMANOSUKE: Nobunaga!
JACQUES: We shall end it right here, right now.
NOBUNAGA: If I do not destroy you, my supremacy will not be realized.
Die...
ONIMUSHA!
[NOBUNAGA knocks them back. SAMANOSUKE clashes with NOBUNAGA but is blasted.]
JACQUES: Samanosuke!
NOBUNAGA: It's your turn now...Southern Barbarian.
JACQUES: You bastard...!
***After Jacques beats Nobunaga...***
[NOBUNAGA falls.]
AKO: You did it! You did it, Jacques!
[JACQUES nods and runs to SAMANOSUKE.]
JACQUES: Samanosuke!
[SAMANOSUKE gets up.]
SAMANOSUKE: I'm fine.
There's no need to worry.
[JACQUES begins to glow.]
AKO: The time warp device is active.
You can go back to your own time!
JACQUES: Samanosuke...
[SAMANOSUKE offers JACQUES his hand. JACQUES grasps it.]
SAMANOSUKE: Go, Jacques.
Thanks for your help.
JACQUES: Yeah...
It was fun!
[JACQUES enters the portal. Suddenly, NOBUNAGA rises and hits SAMANOSUKE
with a green bolt.]
JACQUES: Samanosuke!
AKO: Samanosuke!

SAMANOSUKE: Ako...
The other...me...
AKO: Got it! Just a moment!
[NOBUNAGA places his foot on SAMANOSUKE'S chest. JACQUES can do nothing.]
JACQUES: Samanosuke!
[NOBUNAGA stabs SAMANOSUKE dead.]
JACQUES: Samanosuke!
Samanosuke! Dammit!
[JACQUES vanishes and NOBUNAGA laughs.]

[JACQUES turns and sees SAMANOSUKE, MICHELE, and HENRI. HENRI runs up.]
JACQUES: Henri!
[JACQUES and HENRI run to each other.]

JACQUES: Henri!
HENRI: Welcome home!
MICHELE: Jacques!
JACQUES: Michele...
[The three of them embrace as SAMANOSUKE and AKO look on.]
JACQUES: Samanosuke...
SAMANOSUKE: Jacques...
I heard the story from Ako.
I will return to my own time, and destroy Nobunaga.
JACQUES: I will go with you.
Let's defeat Nobunaga together.
SAMANOSUKE: No.
The time warp is only to return us to our proper times...

[SAMANOSUKE and AKO step in the portal.]
HENRI: Samanosuke, Ako...
Goodbye.
[SAMANOSUKE and AKO vanish. JACQUES, MICHELE, and HENRI are together.
JACQUES pats HENRI. They can speak French again.]
JACQUES: Let's go.
HENRI: Do you think we'll meet them again?
JACQUES: Yeah, we'll definitely see them again.
[Suddenly, from behind a tree, a blade flashes. A wounded RANMARU runs up to
the family and slashes HENRI...]
JACQUES: Henri! Henri!
RANMARU: (laughs) Serves you right!!
JACQUES: Henri! Henri!!
[Enraged, JACQUES begins whipping RANMARU.]
JACQUES: TAKE THAT!
YOU BASTARD!
[RANMARU falls. JACQUES rushes to HENRI. MICHELE is hysterical.]
JACQUES: Henri! HENRI!
HENRI: Papa...
[HENRI falls dead.]
JACQUES: Hang in there!
MICHELE: Henri!
JACQUES: Henri!
Henri...Henri...Henri...(sobs)
No...Henri...
[JACQUES' gauntlet blazes.]
JACQUES: What?
[Energy from the gauntlet flows into HENRI. He opens his eyes.]
HENRI: ...Papa?
JACQUES: Henri!? Henri!
HENRI: Papa?

JACQUES: Henri!
HENRI: Papa!
[They are all crying now, but the tears they cry are those of joy. JACQUES
looks at his arm and sees that the Oni gauntlet is gone.]
JACQUES: Thank you...

[The three of them embrace under the light of the Eiffel Tower.]

[SAMANOSUKE sees his other self dead. He leans over him and absorbs the power
of
the dead SAMANOSUKE's gauntlet, turning him into Onimusha form.
NOBUNAGA: Incorrigible.
I shall beat you back down to Hell once again. (Laughs)
***After Samanosuke beats Nobunaga once...***
[As NOBUNAGA falls, he doesn't hit the ground, but levitates over it.]
NOBUNAGA: (Laughs) It's not over yet.
[NOBUNAGA assumes his true form. Onimusha SAMANOSUKE prepares for the final
battle...]
***After Samanosuke defeats Nobunaga again...***

[The scene changes back to the temple, which is ablaze. NOBUNAGA begins to
rise as SAMANOSUKE approaches. He dances with his sword as he chants this

When compared to the vastness of that under Heaven,
Is as an illusion or dream. (*6)
[As SAMANOSUKE looks at his arm, NOBUNAGA laughs.]
NOBUNAGA: Well done!
[NOBUNAGA turns into green-black mist, which SAMANOSUKE absorbs.]
AKO: You did it...
Samanosuke!
SAMANOSUKE: I kept my promise to you, Jacques...
And the Oni Clan.
[The temple begins to collapse.]
AKO: Samanosuke! We have to escape!
[The screen fades to black, and the following is displayed:]

Oda Nobunaga vanished within the blaze.

SAMANOSUKE: You're right...
Hurry up and find someone to like.
[SAMANOSUKE walks away.]
AKO: How rude!
He's really slow.

[AKO runs up to SAMANOSUKE.]
AKO: Samanosuke...

SAMANOSUKE: What are you talking about?
AKO: Never mind that now!
[AKO gestures placing the flower in her hair. SAMANOSUKE does.
AKO smiles and takes SAMANOSUKE's hand.]

I, Hideyoshi, will rule Japan!
[HIDEYOSHI laughs as his eyes glow red.]

HEIHACHI BURAIDEN MINI-GAME [HHBR] +

TEXT: Sakai, Senshu.
Jacques and Samanosuke, who arrived at this place while
following the clues of the Genma, received information that
a foreign ship belonging to the Genma had entered the port,
and headed there quickly.
Appearing there was Honda Heihachiro Tadakatsu.
This provincial samurai, a retainer of Tokugawa Ieyasu,
confronted the two and challenged them to a match.
Heihachi demonstrates skill with the spear that would not
be beaten even by two people possessing Oni power.
However, Heihachi withdraws his spear and leaves.
Afterwards, Jacques, who received help from Henri, jumps onto
the foreign ship and leaves Sakai, leaving Samanosuke alone at
the port.
This is the story of what happens next...
[SAMANOSUKE turns to see HEIHACHI. He prepares to draw his sword...]
HEIHACHI: Wait, wait!
I apologize for what happened before.
I just wanted to test your strength.
SAMANOSUKE: What are you talking about?
HEIHACHI: Actually...
VOICE: Sir Honda!
[A MERCHANT comes running up.]
HEIHACHI: What is it? I'm busy right now.
MERCHANT: We got a problem!
The Genma're attacking the town!
HEIHACHI: What'd you say!?
Why didn't you tell me that earlier?
SAMANOSUKE: What are you going to do?
HEIHACHI: Obvious, isn't it?
I'm gonna save the townspeople!
[HEIHACHI turns to the MERCHANT.]
HEIHACHI: Hey, wasn't there a drawbridge in the town?
MERCHANT: Yeah. It's busted now, but I asked the blacksmith to fix it.
HEIHACHI: Where's the blacksmith's?
MERCHANT: It's at the end of the back road of the town.
Please use this.
[The MERCHANT gives HEIHACHI something, which we later find is a bracelet,
then runs off.]
HEIHACHI: Hey!
SAMANOSUKE: I'll hold those things off at the drawbridge.
[SAMANOSUKE walks off.]
HEIHACHI: You monsters! Thinking you're all that!
***After Heihachi picks up the red stone...***
[HEIHACHI has just beaten some Genma.]
HEIHACHI: That takes care of them.
JACQUES: Hey!
Heihachi...you...
[HEIHACHI just laughs and leaves.]
JACQUES: Wasn't that guy allied with the Genma?
AKO: How weird...
***After Heihachi places the gear...***
[The gear clicks into place and the drawbridge rises.]
HEIHACHI: There, it should be safe for a while.
[The two turn around to see a large purple Genma.]
SAMANOSUKE: No...not yet.
***After all the Genma are destroyed...***
[HEIHACHI hits the ground with his spear.]
HEIHACHI: OK...that takes care of them, anyway.
Thanks, Samanosuke. (bows)
Talk to you later.
[HEIHACHI walks off.]
SAMANOSUKE: Wait.
Your master is Tokugawa Ieyasu, who is allied with Nobunaga.
If you become enemies with the Genma, that's treachery against
your master.
What exactly are you trying to do?
HEIHACHI: Anyway, I'm sure we'll meet again, Samanosuke...
[HEIHACHI walks off, as SAMANOSUKE looks on. SAMANOSUKE then looks over the
ocean.]
TEXT: It is unclear whether Heihachi's actions were that of an enemy
or an ally.
Even when he later appears at Mont Saint Michel, Heihachi does
not make his true intentions known.
A little more time would be necessary before Jacques and
Samanosuke would learn of the feelings seething deep within
this man's heart.

(*1) The Sengoku (Warring States) period was from 1476 to 1615.
(*2) A "Tengu" is a goblin that can fly and usually has a long nose. A "Karasu"
is a crow. I just didn't feel like classifying Ako as something like a "crow-
goblin."
(*3) In Japanese stories, Oni demons carried iron clubs as their weapons of
choice. In this case, Ako is like a "secret weapon."
(*4) "Nanbanjin" actually refers to people from European countries like
Portugal and Spain, which traded with Japan. Literally translated, though,
it means "southern barbarian," and when the word is used here it's often
derogatory, almost a racial slur.
(*5) Present-day Osaka, which still has a reputation of being a place of
merchants.
(*6) Part of a stanza from the play "Atsumori," reportedly a favorite of
Nobunaga.
