This is a walkthrough for unlocking titles, mini-games, and other unlockables as well as how to play the mini-games. This FAQ also has translated text of the items in the Item Shop, that help you in the many mini-games this game has to offer. Lastly this FAQ uses the Character Encoding Japanese (Shift_JIS). Map Locations --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- TALES OF SNIPER - [sniperx] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Already unlocked. The premise of the game is to save Mieu from monsters on the field. There are 3 levels of difficulty. Easy, Normal, and Hard. Easy - There are a total of 30 levels you must clear. Normal - There are a total of 50 levels you must clear. Hard - There are a total of 70 levels you must clear. In order to progress through a level, you must score enough points to move onto the next level. (Think survival mode, in Guilty Gear.) Your grade at the end will be determined by a lot of things such as accuracy, Mieu's health, and whether or not you were able to clear all the levels of that difficulty. CHARACTERS: Cless - As Cless, you have Apple Gummis at your disposal. Press the triangle button in order to use it on Mieu, if he's been hit. Lloyd - As Lloyd, you have Life Bottles at your disposal. Press the triangle button in order to use it on Mieu. It'll revive him if he dies. Luke - As Luke, you have the Hour Glass at your disposal. Press the triangle button in order to freeze time and prevent the enemies from moving. SUMMONS: You can summon the spirits during your play-through. When you've scored enough points, an orb will appear over Mieu's head. Shoot it and it'll give your gun different abilities depending on the spirit for a limited amount of time. Efreet - Increases accuracy by making the scope bigger. However, you cannot fire it as fast as your normal blaster. Celsius - Converts your shots into a machine gun. In other words, you can hold on the shot button for rapid fire. Gnome - Changes your bullets into Mieu bombs. Target an enemy and instead of your bullets firing, bombs will rain down upon the area you highlighted. Sylph - Sylph replenishes your items (Apple Gummi, Life Bottle, Hour Glass) Undine - Undine replenishes Mieu's health. Volt - Volt does damage on the whole screen. Volt does damage equivalent to 2 shots of your regular blaster to all monsters on the field. ITEM UP: The Item Shop has several items that can help you in your play- through. Here are the items that apply to Tales of Sniper: アタックシンボル (Attack Symbol) - 100000G No matter what part of the enemy you shoot the hit will be a critical hit. Expensive, but helpful. アップルグミ (Apple Gummi) - 1200G Depending on how many you buy, will depend on how much more Cless will have in stock to use on Mieu. (Cless starts off with 5, and can have a total of 12.) アワーグラス (Hour Glass) - 1500G Depending on how many you buy, will depend on how many times more Luke can freeze time for Mieu. (Luke starts off with 1, and can have a total of 5.) ジェットブーツ (Jet Boots) - 6000G These boots increase the cursor speed of your gun. Very helpful in moving from one side of the screen to shoot an enemy, and onto the other side to shoot another. セージ (Sage) - 2000G Sages increase the amount of life Mieu has by one heart. He initially starts with 3 life hearts, and can have up to a total of 10. ダイヤモンド (Diamond) - 10000G The Diamond increases the duration/effect of the Summon Spirits' powers. ミスティシンボル (Misty Symbol) - 5000g The Misty Symbol increases the rate at which a Summon Spirit orb appears over Mieu's head. ライフボトル (Life Bottle) - 2000G Depending on how many you buy, will depend on how much more Lloyd will have in stock to use on Mieu. (Lloyd starts off with 1, and can have a total of 3.) ワンダーシンボル (Wonder Symbol) - 7000g The amount of points you acquire from enemies you shoot increases by x1.5 when the item is turned on. --------------------------------------------------------------------- TALES OF DONJARA - [donjarax] --------------------------------------------------------------------- This mini-game is unlocked after you clear Arche's scenario. Ranking #1 with your chosen character will unlock a "Donjara" title. (IE: Clearing it with Cless will give you his Donjara Master title.) A few things you should know: How to play - Okay, first off you are given a set of 9 cards. Everyone takes a turn to draw a card from the draw pile. Now each card has it's own set of colors. In order to win, you must have 3 sets of color-coded cards. (IE: 3 dark reds, 3 yellows, 3 whites.) Or you can have 3 light reds and 6 dark blues. As long as you have 3 different sets of 3 cards of the same color. Example: You have 3 yellow cards, 3 dark blue cards, 1 white card and 1 dark red card. If you receive either a white card or a dark red card on your next draw from the pile of cards, you will receive the option of "riichi." This means you are one card from winning. Once you get the last card you need in order to win (the color that would make the 3 different colored sets) you have the option of "tsumo." Select that and you win the round. After winning the round, it shows what bonus points you got. These are usually based off the pictures of the cards you won with.** ** Bonuses: Say you win with a card set of 3 dark red cards, 3 light blue cards, and 3 yellow cards. Among the 3 dark red cards, you have Zelos and Colette as the picture. You will receive a special bonus for that combination, as they are both "Chosens." There are a wide variety of bonuses you can receive, as you win games. UNLOCKING CHARACTERS: Initially, you can only play as Cless, Lloyd, and Luke. Play against the others (except the right most person on each row), and if they rank #1 or #2 after the end of the game, they will become playable. In order to unlock Suzu, Yuan, and Peony as opponents, unlock 3 characters of each series as playable. (3 characters from Phantasia to unlock Suzu, 3 characters from Abyss to unlock Peony.) In order to unlock Suzu, Yuan, and Peony as playable, play against them as soon as you are able to choose them as other opponents. If they rank #1 or #2 after the end of the game, they will become playable. DONJARA CHARACTER SPECIALS: Each character has their own special move that they can use before drawing a card from the draw pile. Of course, you must have the right amount of TP in order to perform the special move. To initiate a special move, simply press triangle and then circle. Depending on who you are, you can either use your move on someone else, self buff your character, and many more. CLESS - If he gets a RON (Riichi) within the next 5 turns after use, your score is increased x1.25. MINT - Her special is that she can seal off one of the players from doing their special move. (Best used as soon as possible.) CHESTER - His special can only be used at a given point. However, it is used during a key point. Once your hand of cards reaches the status of "riichi," you can use his special right at that point. The next card you draw will be the card you need in order to win. ARCHE - If Arche is unhappy with her hand of cards, she can acquire a whole new hand of cards. Helpful if she first starts off with a bad hand of cards. Useless if you're about to win. SUZU - Her special allows her to see what each player has as their hand of cards. Not much else you can do, except look at what everyone has. (It may or may not help you.) LLOYD - If he gets a TSUMO (Donjara) within the next 5 turns after use, your score is increased x1.25. COLETTE - Her special allows her to switch her set of cards, with another player. If you're Colette, a good time to use it would be on someone that announces "riichi" as he or she is about to win. Use it on that person, and you will announce "riichi" while the character you switched with is screwed. Careful when you play her! She'll use it on you if you're not careful! ZELOS - His special allows him to exchange a card from his hand, with that of a card that is in any of the discarded piles of cards. You cannot use this special when your hand of cards is at the status of "riichi." (Best used as soon as possible.) PRESEA - If she wins within the next 3 turns after using her special, her score is multiplied x2.0 YUAN - After using his special on an opponent, he/she can't pick up a card that someone else dropped to get donjara. LUKE - After use, if he receives a dora score within 5 turns, his score is multiplied x1.5 TEAR - When used on a target, his/her score is reduced by 0.5 at the end of the round. GUY - His special allows him to see in advance, what next 3 cards he will draw from the draw pile. Just like Suzu's, it may or may not help you out depending on your situation. ANISE - Her special allows her to drain an opponent's TP down to 0. If you're Anise and you're playing against Colette or Zelos, be sure to use it on them as their specials can be quite broken. It will prevent them from doing their specials, as they won't have the TP to perform them. PEONY - When used, Peony is able to get an extremely great hand of cards. The conditions, however, is that he must win a round within the next 5 rounds after he's used his special. After he has won a round, the following round is when he'll receive the ridiculously winning hand of cards. --------------------------------------------------------------------- TALES OF PUZZLE - [puzzlex] --------------------------------------------------------------------- This mini-game is unlocked after you clear Kratos' scenario. HOW TO PLAY: Each "puzzle piece" you place on the board will vanish if you pair it up with a certain character. Pairings include: * Cless/Mint * Chester/Arche * Lloyd/Colette * Zelos/Sheena * Luke/Tear * Asch/Natalia The Dist puzzle piece serves as a bonus point piece. If you clear a pairing near a Dist piece, Dist will DISTappear (get it?!) with the pairing. He is mainly used to bring up your score. You can also increase your score by clearing 3 at a time. For Example, here's an empty board: O O O O O O O O O There's the board. If you place Lloyd(L) with another Lloyd(L), and have Colette(Co) connect the two Lloyds, all three disappear: O O O O O L O L Co Achieving a certain score can unlock costume titles for Tear, Mint, and Colette. * Tear - Clear the puzzle board with a score of 3400 * Mint - Clear the puzzle board with a score of 2900 * Colette - Clear the puzzle board with a score of 2000 --------------------------------------------------------------------- DEFAULT CASINO - [casinox] --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ Slots- ------ Default character is Luke. In order to play slots with Cless, simply clear Arche's scenario. In order to play slots with Lloyd, simply clear Kratos's scenario. Slots is pretty self explantory. However, you have the option of putting in one, two, or three coins. The more coins you put in, the higher chance you'll win. IE: Putting in one coin will only let you win if you connect three icons horizontally in the middle row. Insert three coins, and you can win by connecting three icons horizontally top, middle, and bottom row, as well as connecting diagnally. For a shortcut to place 3 coins immediately, press triangle, followed by circle. To place only one coin, press circle once, and then square. To place two coins, press circle twice, and then square. ------- Bakara- ------- Default characters are Chester/Arche. In order to play Bakara with Zelos/Sheena, simply clear Kratos's scenario. In order to play Bakara with Asch/Natalia, simply clear Tear's scenario. In Bakara, you really don't "play" the game. Instead a pairing will play against each other. Before they play, you have the option of betting a certain amount of gald as to who will win. Inputting the amount of gald on the left side means you're betting that Chester, Zelos, or Asch will win. Inputting the amount of gald on the right side means you're betting that Arche, Sheena, or Natalia will win. Inputting gald in the middle means you're betting it'll be a tie. You can bet gald in more than one spot to break even, or soften how much gald you win or lose. ------ Poker- ------ Default character is Jade. In order to play with Suzu, clear Arche's scenario. In order to play with Genis and Presea, clear Kratos's scenario. I think the rules of the game are universally known. If you don't know how to play, look up a tutorial on how to play poker. ----------- Black Jack- ----------- Default character is Regal. In order to play with Refill/Raine, and Kratos, simply clear Kratos's scenario. In order to play with Klarth, simply clear Arche's scenario. In order to play with Guy and Anise, simply clear Jade's scenario. I think the rules of the game are universally known. If you don't know how to play, look up a tutorial on how to play black jack. --------------------------------------------------------------------- PLATINUM RUSH CASINO - [rushx] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Clear the side story.** ** Unsure. I only noticed this after I finished the main story. This casino is like the normal one, except you get to play the casino games with people you encountered in the scenarios (except Phantasia as there weren't really any NPCs in that particular story.) For example, you can now play slots with 14 year old Tear, or Bakara with Jade/Dist, and Black Jack & Poker with Mithos & Peony. The stakes are higher in this casino. For example, in the default casino, your max bet in Bakara with Asch/Natalia, Chester/Arche, and Zelos/Sheena is 5000. Where as Jade/Dist, you can bet up to 50000 provided you have the Gs to bet. If you have great luck, this is a fast way to earn gald for expensive items like Kratos's costume title! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cat Palace (2nd Item Shop) - [catpalx] --------------------------------------------------------------------- This requires a number of things. - Buy the ウイングバック (1000g) from the Item Shop. - Acquire Genis' (ねこねここねこ) title. This is done when you witness a skit on the world map where Genis constantly ends his sentences with "nyan." - Play the slots with either Luke, Lloyd, or Cless. Make sure you connect three of the red cat person (the one that gives you x100 when you win.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- GALLERY - [galleryx] --------------------------------------------------------------------- This is unlocked after clearing a scenario for Abyss (In my case, it appeared on the map as soon as I cleared Tear's scenario. Whatever pictures that are initially available in the gallery are pictures you earned in scenarios you have already played through.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- SIDE STORY - [sidestoryx] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Clear all 4 scenarios- (Arche's, Kratos's, Tear's, and Jade's) This will unlock as soon as all 4 are cleared. You do not have to have a 100% completion rate. Just clear each, once. --------------------------------------------------------------------- CHAT SKIT GALLERY - [skitgallx] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Clear side story. You will be able to view all the world map skits that you have already witnessed. --------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGIN TIMING BATTLE - [originbatx] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Clear side story AND clear all Timing Battles on the World Map. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Titles Acquired from Scenarios: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Certain choices you make through your play through of a scenario may or may not give you a title. This portion of the FAQ will tell you which choices to choose in order to unlock titles along the way. ------------------------------ ARCHE'S SCENARIO - [archescen] ------------------------------ The first thing the player will be able to do, is participate in the timing battle that is prompted. Successfully perform the timing battle and you will receive Arche's (セパレート) title. When prompted with the choices: - 命の恩人にそんな態度取っていいの? - もしかして怒ったあ? - あたしが助けなかったら大変だったよ Selecting the first option should give you Arche's (命の恩人) title. The next part is tricky. You will have several choices to choose from, as Arche will (attempt to) study the other characters' specialties. You will only get to choose 3 of the choices per play-through, so a replay is definitely necessary. (To avoid going through the whole thing over and over again, create save files within the scenario to start off at a certain point. Do this by pressing start, and then choosing the second option. Save on the file slot, and voila!) You will be prompted with the following choices: - 剣士になろう！ - 法術師がいいね！ - 召喚士なんてどう? - 思い切って忍者！ - 意表をついて弓使い！ 1st Option - (You will acquire Cless's (努力の剣士) title) 2nd Option - (You will acquire Mint's (やさしいナース) title) 3rd Option - (You will acquire Klarth's (むっつり) title as well as Arche's (ハーフエルフ) title) 4th Option - (You will run into another set of choices when training with Suzu.)*** 5th Option - (You receive nothing by training with Chester) *** If you chose to study with Suzu, you will be prompted with the following: - 華麗な身のこなし？ - 的確な判断力？ - 平常心を保つこと？ From the above, select the third option in order to receive Suzu's (クールなにんじゃ) title. The next time you get any chance to do anything, a timing battle will come up after a mushy scene with Chester and Arche. Successfully perform the timing battle (Arche will dodge the monster's attack twice) You will receive Arche's (ひらりガール) title. Another Timing battle will be prompted. Successfully perform the timing battle. You will receive Chester's (スナイパー) title. END ------------------------------ KRATOS' SCENARIO - [kratoscen] ------------------------------ When prompted with the choices: - マーテル、か - ファンダリアの花、か - 育ち飾り、か The first option gives you nothing. The second option gives you Refill/Raine's (博識) title. The third option gives you Lloyd's (育ち飾り) title. When prompted with the choices: - 無視する - からかう - フォローしてやる Select the second choice to receive Kratos' (先生) title. The first and third choices give you nothing. The next choices will give you a choice as to who to go with during the flashback. If you chose to go with Mithos, a timing battle will come up. By successfully performing the timing battle with Mithos, you will receive Kratos' (師弟コンビ) title. If you chose to go with Yuan, a timing battle will also come up. By successfully performing the timing battle with Yuan, you will receive Kratos' (戦神) title. If you chose to go with Martel, you do not receive anything. After awhile, the next thing you will be able to control is yet, another timing battle towards the end of the scenario. Successfully perform the timing battle (where Kratos dodges an attack) to receive Kratos' (闘神) title. Kratos automatically receives his (4000年の想い) title towards the end. END ---------------------------- TEAR'S SCENARIO - [tearscen] ---------------------------- When prompted with the choices: - どうして私が！？ - わかったわ。 　 - ……。 Select the first option to receive Tear's (毅然) title. When prompted with the choices: - 果敢に突っ込むを2連続 - わざと隙を作るを2連続 - それ以外の組み合わせ Selecting the first option will give you Tear's (カンタビレ流) title. Selecting the second option will give you Tear's (リグレット流) title. END ---------------------------- JADE'S SCENARIO - [jadescen] ---------------------------- When prompted with the choices: - 仕事を片付けたら行く -　行くつもりはない - 勝手に一人で行け Selecting the first option will give you Jade's (幼なじみ) title. (Guy should receive his (ハレンチ) no matter what choice you choose. When prompted with the choices: - グランコクマ商店前 　 - グランコクマ港 　 - グランコクマ噴水前 It is asking you where you want to go. (First option is the store, second option is the port, and third option is the fountain.) No matter what you choose, you won't receive any title. However, once the scene with Peony comes up where he has to save a townsperson from a couple of bandits, a timing battle will begin. Successfully perform all the timing battles (3 total) and you will receive Jade's (ナイスコンビ) title. When prompted with the choices: - ジェイドが説得 - ガイが説得 　 - ピオニーが説得 Selecting the first choice should unlock Anise's (導師守護役) title. And finally, when Jade begins to cast Indignation after Peony has been hit, successfuly perform the timing battle that comes up and you should receive Jade's (動揺) title.
