To-Do List +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Some parts of the guide haven't been done yet, thanks to the exams I'm having currently. I hope I'll be able to update them ASAP. This might be ordered by priority, but I cannot guarantee it. -Options Section -Pre-Battle Menu -Pause Menu -Empire Mode Planning Phase =============================================================================== II. INTRODUCTION =============================================================================== This is the Sengoku Musou 2 Empires Translation Guide made by BlackKite aka. The Giant Hoeruo at GameFAQs Boards. This guide is made to help import gamers who play Sengoku Musou 2 Empires, a hack'n'slash game made by KOEI. This guide contains Japanese text which is saved in the Shift-JIS format, so in order to be able to show the Japanese text, you need to change your browser encoding to Japanese (Shift-JIS). The overseas version (Samurai Warriors 2 Empires) is already out, so I might try to change the descriptions to fit the overseas version and ease those who insist to play the Japanese version. Remember that this is just a translation guide, and as the name implies, this guide only provides translations for the JP version, and not in-depth of the game mechanics etc. For the latter, there is already a US FAQ available made by Rampidzier (by the time I wrote this); you should check that for explanation of the game mechanics and such. All names here are written with the surname-firstname order (e.g. Toyotomi Hideyoshi). And even though the overseas version will have the names reversed (e.g. Hideyoshi Toyotomi), I will NOT reverse them under any circumstances, because this order is the correct way to write historical Japanese names (Pre-1868 Meiji Restoration). =============================================================================== III. TRANSLATIONS =============================================================================== First things first, remember the two most basic things in Japanese games: 1. はい (Hai) means Yes, and いいえ (Iie) means No. 2. Circle button is used to confirm things instead of Cross in NA games, and Cross button to cancel things instead of Triangle. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1. Main Menu +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If it is the first time you're playing this game and you have a Sengoku Musou 2 save on your memory card as well as about 700KB free space, the game will ask you if you want to import data from the original save. All 28 unique characters (yes, including Sasaki Kojirou & Shibata Katsuie) will be available by default in Free Mode and Rivalry of Local Warlords scenario, and some pictures at the database are unlocked automatically if you choose to import. After seeing the KOEI logo, Dolby Digital, Omega-Force and either watching or skipping the opening movie, a huge Sengoku Musou 2 Empires logo should appear. Press Start, and you'll enter the main menu. The Menu is listed as below. For more details regarding the modes, please check their respective submenus. 争覇演舞 Struggle for Supremacy aka. Empire Mode 模擬演舞 Simulation Mode aka. Free Mode 戦国図録 Sengoku Picture Book aka. Visual Database *COMING SOON* 新武将 New Officer aka. Struggle for Supremacy aka. Empire Mode ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the game title implies, this is the main mode of the game. If this is the first time you're playing this game, the game will guide you to choose the 1561 Kawanakajima scenario and will tutor you on the game basics. If you want, you can select the regional scenarios or the Rivalry of Local Warlords. Though it is not recommended to play the latter unless you've imported SM2 save file, since you probably haven't unlocked officers yet. Here is the list of scenarios available in this mode. Some of them must be unlocked first, though. Battle of Anegawa - 1570 Background: Oda Nobunaga, Azai Nagamasa & O-Ichi Unlocked by clearing any regional scenarios before 1570 本能寺の変 1582年 The Honnouji Incident - 1582 Background: Oda Nobunaga Unlocked by clearing the Kawanakajima scenario Battle of Sekigahara - 1600 Background: Tokugawa Ieyasu & Ishida Mitsunari Unlocked by clearing the Honnouji scenario Rivalry of Local Warlords - 1561 Background: Various New Officers aka. the 'Gathering of Heroes' scenario. Here, you can select anyone as daimyo in any places. Kyushu Unification Battle - 1561 Background: Shimazu Yoshihiro & Tachibana Ginchiyo After choosing the scenario, you will be given five difficulty options. Hell Obviously, Heaven is the easiest, while Hell is the hardest. Then a series of more options will appear. Growth Data Here, you can choose if you want to 引継ぎ use saved stats or 初期状態 revert to default stats. If you set it to Existant, there will be a 50 year (200 turn) limit from the starting year.. If you exceed this limit, it's game over. なし Setting it to None will make the game end at the year 2000, giving you PLENTY of time to max out your characters, no? New Officers Set whether New Officers you haven't assigned yet will 登場 appear or 未登場 not. Note that if you choose no in Regional scenarios, even if you put in an officer he/she will be guaranteed disappearing when you move on to national mode. Attacking Daimyo. Simple enough, just conquer the province the enemy daimyo is in, and all his territories are belong to you. Divide and Conquer. Similar to above, but you need to isolate the enemy capital first, making sure the daimyo can't retreat to anywhere. なし None. You need to capture every single province by yourself. Fewest - You are limited to JUST 6 characters, no more. Few - You may have 1 additional officer for each province other than your capital. 普通 Normal - You may have 2 additional officer for each province other than your capital. 多い Many - You may have 4 additional officer for each province other than your capital. 最大 Most - You may have 6 additional officer for each province other than your capital. Note that if you choose one of the few options while choosing a clan with many officers, some of them will be cut to fit with the officer number you've selected. Officer Death If you choose あり Existant, then officers can die of old age and you can also execute them. If you choose なし None, then only events will trigger an officer's death, like Nobunaga being killed at Honnouji. To unlock some of those options, you must do some things on Empire mode, including completing the mode once. But for me, it wasn't until completing the mode the second time to have all the options unlocked... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1b. Simulation Mode aka. Free Mode ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This mode is self explanatory. You play through a stage with either the preset generals or characters you've played as in Empire Mode. Note that the stats gained after finishing a stage in this mode is saved, and will carry over the next time you choose that character in both Empire and Free Modes. For the list of stages in this mode, please see the "5. Free Mode Stage List" section. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1c. Visual Database ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1d. New Officer aka. Create-a-Warrior (CAW) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, New Officer aka. CAW is back in this game. The system is not as vast as DW5's though, but nevertheless, here are the things you can adjust for your own characters. Name Self Explanatory, you input the name of your character here. In the JP version, The top one is surname, while the bottom one is firstname. Moreover, you can only enter up to 3 letters (Be it hiragana, katakana, kanji or alphabet) for each names, so you can't insert 長宗我部 Chousokabe nor 五右衛門 Goemon. :( モデル Model Like the prequel SM1, the models here are predetermined. All of them are based on SM2 bodyguards and generic officers, but since bodyguards are no more in this game, you can consider the former bodyguard models as original models. :p Male Samurai Male Warrior Male Ninja Female Samurai Female Priestess Female Kunoichi Generic General Generic Strategist Generic Warrior Generic Politician Generic Old Man Generic Kyushu General Male Monk Also, you can now change the color of your character's outfit. There are 10 colors to choose from: Red, Blue, Yellow, Crimson, Purple, Aqua, White, Green, Black and Silver (Kyushu Color). Motion/Moveset Choose your officer's moveset here. While you may choose existing characters' movesets, not all of them are available. If you choose a unique moveset though, that character will have the same special moves of the original user. You can set the kanji for Musou Ougi (Normal) and Musou Hiougi (True) separately. Unfortunately for this game, not all of those thousands of kanjis can be attached for Musou; only a number of them is selectable. Note that after you have done making your character, when you want to modify him/her again, you can only change the following aspects: Name, Voice, Battle Skill, Clan Crest and Musou Kanji If you made a wrong choice on the other aspects, you have to re-do your character from scratch again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1e. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS =============================================================================== Q: Is this game available for two players? A: Yes. You can have a second player help you on battles. Q: Does this game have online feature? A: No it doesn't. Q: Is there CAW in this game? A: Yes. CAW aka New Officer is in this game. Q: Do Ishikawa Goemon, Imagawa Yoshimoto, Honganji Kennyo and Kunoichi return? A: No. Yoshimoto's already dead one year before the first year of this game (1561); In command of his clan is his son Imagawa Ujizane. They somehow just ignore the Honganji clan. Goemon doesn't return either, and I could care less about the fictional kunoichi. But I can tell you that they're coming back in Musou Orochi, the crossover of Shin Sangoku Musou & Sengoku Musou released in Japan on March 21 2007. Q: Can you import save file from SW2? If you can, what will be imported? A: Look at the "1. Main Menu" section. Q: Will this game be released on the US? A: This game is already out in the US. Remember that this guide is only for translating things on the JP version. There should be FAQs dedicated to the US version up soon. Q: Will this game be released on XBox360? A: I'm not sure, but since DW5E has been released on 360, there's a good chance this game will as well. =============================================================================== VI.
