1. Introduction to game

Romance of the three Kingdoms Ten (ROTKX) is a 
simulation/strategy/action/rpg/pretty much everything. From fighting battles,
to explore China, to utilizing tactics, to fast forwarding time, this game is 
jam-packed. Of course this game revolves around events that took place during 
the fall of the Han dynasty in China and the 3 kingdoms period. 

What you do is control a character and choose what he does. Do you want him to 
do requests and rise fame and get money or do you want him to do his orders and
raise his deeds so you can become a prefect or viceroy? There are so many 
things to do in this game im still not done doing everything.

**NOTE**
The box says 1-8 players but it actually 1 player. This really mad me mad
so don't think its 2 player or more.

2. Basics

Controls (based on a Sony Dualshock 2 controller):

Left Analog Stick: move cursor, scroll through menus

Right Analog Stick: Scroll screen fast

L3: View recent messages

R3: Selct all items on list or asign auto in battles

Start: View Settings, Save, Load, Quit

SELECT: View help

D-pad: move cursor, scroll through menus

L1: Locate character on World Map, change the way you face in battles, 
flip through information windows in cities

R1: Flip through info windows in cities, 
jump to nearest land mark on World Map, change way you face in battles

L2: Displays Orders/Request information, Display Troop info in battle.

R2: Display small map, Reorder lists

Triangle: cancel/leave

Circle: Display information

X: confirm, speed op movement in battles and on World Map

Square: Return to home city on world map, skip through text, 
speed up movement in battles and on World Map.



b. Main Menu **UNDER CONSTRUCTION**

There are 5  menus in the Main Menu broken down into smaller menus. They are

Continue - Continue a saved game
New Game - Start a new game
New officers - Create new officers
Gallery - View Animated Events, Event Stills, BGM's, and Items
Optins - Set the options on how you play.

1. Continue - Basically if you have a saved game and wish to continue it you 
press this button.

2. New Game - Start a new game. There are 9 scenarios. 
You start off with 8 scenarios.
(or if you have Dyansty Warriors 5 data 9 scenarios). 

3. New Officer - Create a new officer.

4. Gallery - View Animated Events, Event Stills, and BGMs

5. Options - Adjust options

1. New Game - All Officers, Recommended officers, personality test

a. All officers - choose a scenario and pick an officer 
that can play in that scenario.

Scenarios

1. February 184: "Revolt Awakens Heroric Ambitions" - The game opens with
the Yellow Turban rebellion breaking out and He Jin raising an army to
defeat them. From the standpoint of troop strength, however, 
no one comes close to matching either the Yellow Turbans or He Jin.

2. September 189: "Dark Clouds over the Capital" - Here, Dong Zhuo has
seized the capital and rival lords have sprung up throughout the rest of
China in opposition.  

3. March 194: "Thunder Rolls from the Central Plains" - Relatively similar
to the prior scenario, the biggest single difference is that Dong Zhuo has
been murdered prior to this scenario and that Lu Bu and Sun Ce are rogue
armies.

4. June 200: "Two Powers Collide at Guan Du" - Cao Cao and Yuan Shao both 
share a great deal of power and are posed to strike at one another at Guand Du.

5. May 207: "A Dragon Rises as Chi Bi Burns" -   
Cao Cao has conquered the entire north and has set his eyes on Jingzhou. 
Liu Bei meanwhile searches for an advisor that will
be able to lead his army against such a force, while Sun Quan debates 
whether to oppose Cao Cao's army or submit to it.

6. July 217: "Tremors of War Shake Han Zhong" - This is really the first
"Three Kingdoms" proper scenario.  Liu Bei, having defeated Cao Cao at Chi
Bi, has since conquered Liu Zhang's territory and set his sights on the
north.

7. April 227: "A Struggle between Old Enemies" - 
The Zhuge Liang vs Sima Yi scenario.

8. August 253: "The Lonely Legacy of the Dead" - The final historical
scenario sees Shu on the brink of disaster.  Zhuge Liang's successor, 
Jiang Wei, makes his final attempts to push north to seize the central
plains.

9. January 250: "Heroes Across Time" - The only fictional scenario in this
game. It is probably best not to play as a weak ruler as you will be defeated.

If you are Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Sima Yi, Sun Jian this scenario 
will be a real challenge due to the amount of officers you receive 
and keeping them paid (Liu Bei, Sun Jian)

2. New Officers
===============

a. Create a new officer - create a new officer
(I will use an example of one of my characters)

Name - Family: Wei Given: Zhu - Be creative think of a cool Chinese name

Main 
1. Gender - Male/Female  Simple huh?

2. Birth - Set what year they were born in.  
The chart thing shows what scenarios they will be in.
(officer must be 15 years of age to join the game)[170]

3. Lifespan - Set how long they will live [99 years]

4. Father - Set a father for the character.  This is not required

5. Mother - Set a mother at least 30 years of age? to your character. 
Not required

6. Spouse - Choose another created officer at least the same 
or earlier birth year as yours.

7. Close Friend - Someone you will get along with really well.

Portrait - Choose a portrait for your character

Abilities - Max 100 without items

WAR - How well you do in duels [89]

LDR - How well you train troops, raise order, and turn order in a battle [85]

INT - The higher the number the more options in a debate, 
How well you improve the blacksmith [100]

POL - How well you improve the farmland and the market [98]

CHR - The higher the number the more options in a debate, 
easier to draft troops [89]

Fame - Your fame level. The higher the level the more people will 
employ with you and the more choices for a request. [400]

Skills - there are 42 skills in the game from domestics, battles, duels, 
tactics, debates, and renown.

1. Type - The type of officer you are going to be.

2. Change - change the skills you have. varies with type of officer you are

3. Release all - deselect all skills selected

4. Select all - only available after an officer has learned 30 skills 
not has 30 LEARNED

ALL SKILLS

Domestic - Skills that effect how well you do domestics

Farm - lets you extend the amount of days you work on the farm
Trade - Same as above just at the market
Tech - Same as above just at the blacksmith
Repair - Same as above just at the gate
Order - Same a above just at the guardhouse
Hire - Lets drafted troops have more experience than normally drafted troops
Drill - Allows the exp and morale to go above 100 when drilling

Battle - Skills that effect the ways you can wn battles

Charge - charge your enemy for a more powerful foot/horse attack. 
still not that good
Missile - Able to use fire arrows in tower or as a bow unit. VERY USEFUL
Settle - return an ally condition to normal.
Surprise - Attack a non-adjacent enemy in bad weather.
Rally - raise your morale and any ally units next to yours. 
Can be pretty useful
Distract - Allows you to use sneak in battle which you never really need to do.

Tactics - Skills used in and out of battles. pretty useful sometimes

Blunder - Two enemy units adjacent to each other(one must be next to you) 
may attack each other
Stun - Lower an enemy morale and turn order
Entice - Make a unit charge out at you and makes them easy to attack
Confuse - Confuse an enemy and make them lose their turn(s). Quite useful.
Your likely to be accepted in a duel(if you are fairly close in WAR ability)
and destroy the enemy unit quick before they recover
Aero - Allows you to change the weather to clear, rain , fog, cloudy, snow.
Also allows you to change the wind direction or stop it completely. 
You can also use lightning with the skill if you have the wizard skill
Geo - My favorite skill. 
Allows you to use boulder if on a hill or mountain in battle
or dig pits. 
You also can find where your going for a request easy with this skill.
Also able to use lightning in batlte with wizard skill.
Maze - Build a maze at a base. 
Confuses any unit that enters it and sends it back to 
its home city when the exit it.
Maze is destroyed when enemy unit passes through it.

Duel skills - Skills that may decide who wins a duel. 
Effect depends on war skill with max energy everything is doubled

Recover - Recover some HP in duel. Must be able to evade 3 times to use
Shout - Gain some energy in duel. Must be able to slice 3 times to use
Scare - Gain energy and decrease enemy's energy. 
Must be able to slash 3 times to use
Crush - Inflict Great Damage. Must be able to stab 3 times to use
Maul - Inflict tremendous damage. Must be able to strike 3 times to use
Parry - Reverse what your opponent does and hit them. 
Must be able to swing 3 times to use
Counter - Stronger Parry. Must be able to swipe 3 times to use

Debate Skills - skills that pretty much decide if you win a debate

Awe - Damages enemy a little each turn
Plead - Prevents the enemy from using Fault, Argue, Incite, or Taunt
Refute - Prevents the enemy from using Fault, Argue, Incite, 
or Taunt and allowing you
to use that skill against them
Fault - Beats all regular commands. Deals moderate damage
Argue - Stronger than fault
Incite - Beats all commands except Refute, Plead, and Taunt. 
Make enemy lose 2 turns
Taunt - Inflicts incite and argue in one. 
Can cause disaster for you or the enemy

Renown Skills - Skills that help in battles

Warlord - Allows you to control another unit that is your same or worse rank
(free, vassal, prefect, viceroy, soverign)
Hero - allows a private unit to be free and many other things. 
One must have skill
Admiral - Elimantes current effect on water for your unit
Spy - Lets you spy in a city instead of inspecting it.
Host - Allows you to use banquet command in tavern which raises your friendship
with all who attend the banquet
Doctor - Allows you to revive units in battlel. 
You can also help cure a sick officer.
Wizard - Allows you to enter a city freely. Not that good.
Allows you to use lightning in battles if you have learned Geo or Aero.

Psychology

1. Mindset - Ambitous, Spontaneous, Loyal, Heroic, Selfish
2. Personality - Timid, Cool, Bold, Reckless
3. Alchol - Dislikes, Likes, Loves
4. Desire - Selfless, Average, Greedy

5. Your Character

a. interacting - throughout the game you will interact with people. 
It is good to occasionly interact with officers, 
espicially if you want to employ them.

After you talk to an officer there are many options.

Talk - just talk with the officer
Gift - give officer an item
Drink - have a drink with an officer
(you must have wine and both officer over 20)
Learn - ask person to instruct you in an area(must be trusted)
Instruct - with Hero skill you can instruct an officer on something
(must be trusted)

b. sages - there are many sages in this game that teach you skills 
or give you items

Cai Yan - She teachs you all of the charisma skills except taunt.
If you interact enough she'll give you the zither.

Guan Lu - teachs all political skills.

Hua Tuo - teachs the Doctor skill. If you interact enough he'll 
give you Hua Tuo's Journal

2. Debates

a. debates are new things that you can have with an officer. 
they can be really fun or really frustrating. 
that amount of commands you can use depends on your INT and the
amount of damage dealt depends on your CHR.

b. moves

profit - 1-9 this is the profit command. 
9 is the most damage dealt if the arrow on
the bottom right of the screen is up and 1 is the most if the arrow is down.

virtue - 1-9 this is the virtue command. same as above

logic - 1-9 this is the logic command same as above

mire - shuffle the command board

think - refresh your current commands

c. skills - skills are almost required if you are to win a debate

awe - inflict damage at the begging of every turn

plead - nulify enemies skill (auto if you have one)

refute - nulify enemies skill and reverse it in your favor 
(auto if you have one)

fault - overpower most commands and deal damage

argue - overpower most commands and deal more damage

incite - cause enemy to lose two turns

taunt - inflict damage and cause incite.

c. other

if same number on command is used then they both cancel out

combos - combos can turn the duel in your favor or against you. 
if three colors of thesame colors on the command board(shown at bottom right)
are in a row, whoever completes the chain will get the combo 
will deal lots of damage. if 1 of each is adjacent then
whoever completes the chain will get damaged. combos 
can also go two times at once.A red or blue outline will appear 
if a command will make a combo. red is bad, blue good.

Confuse - confuse an enemy unit making them easy to destroy

Defect - if you have conspired with an enemy you can have them defect 

Entice - draw out an enemy unit

Extinguish - put out a fire next to you

Fire - start a fire on a square next to you

Lightning - cause lightning to strike enemy units or 
misfire and attack your units

Pit - dig a pit that can damage an enemy if they cross it

Rally - raise the morale of surrounding allys

Revive - heal wounded troops with an adjacent ally

Scare - dealy the enemies turn order

Settle - return an allys condition to normal

Sneak - pass by an enemy unit without being seen

7. Events and items

a. animated events - thorughout the game there are special events 
you can obtain doing special requirements

1. Peach Garden Oath
Easy. play as Liu Bei, Guan Yu, or Zhang Fei 
in the 184 scenario and you'll get it.

2. Seven Star Sword - play as Cao Cao in 189 and progress through the game.

3. Mightier than the Sword - play as Lu Bu in 189 scenario
and betray Ding Yuan. 
let events progress and you will eventually kill Dong Zhuo

4. A feat of Archery -  Play as Lu Bu in 194 scenario. 
take Pu Yang and when you are defeated go to Xiao Pei and take 
Liu Bei's territory. When you transfer to Xia Pi Ji Ling will attack Liu Bei
and you will intervene with a feat of archery

5. Dian Wei's last stand - play as Cao Cao or a created officer 
in 194 and attend the taking of Wan

6. In the Face of Death - play as Cao Cao in 194 and let events 
transpire that allow you to capture Lu Bu, Chen Gong, and Zhang Liao. 
Lu Bu and Chen Gong die and Zhang Liao now serves Cao Cao

7. A Dual Proposal - Play as Sun Ce or Zhou Yu in 194 and take 
the southland. Make sure you visit Yuan Shu to get more troops. 
Then after a while you will marry Xiao Qiao or Da Qiao.

8. Guan Yu's Journey - play as Guan Yu in 194. get captured by 
Cao Cao and let events transpire that lets you leave Cao Cao 
and join Zhang Fei in Ru Nan.

9. Appeal to a Dragon - play as Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, Guan Yu, or Zhuge Liang
in 200 scenario. find Sima Hui an get Xu Shu. 
Xu Shu will leave and Liu Bei employs Zhuge Liang with his three visits.

10. Tragedy at Chang Ban - play as Zhao Yun in 207 scenario and 
let events transpire. Eventualy at Chang Ban you return to rescue Liu Chan 
and Mistress Mi kills herself.

11. Sun Quan's Decision - play as Zhou Yu in 207. 
After Liu Bei gets Zhuge Liang send 
Lu Su to donate and this will cause the event to happen.

12. The Ultimate Loyalty - play as someone in 
Chaisang and get lots of troops there, then this event will trigger.

13. A Prayer in the Wind - if you have the previous two this one is automatic

14. Five Tiger Generals - play as Huang Zhong, Ma Chao, Liu Bei, Guan Yu, 
Zhang Fei, or Zhao Yun to get this event. start in the Han Zhong scenario

15. Victory or Death - I got this event as a created officer in 
Xu Chang on 217. After the battle of Han Zhong this event should trigger.

16. Amidst the Autmumn Rain - play as an officer in Jian Ye in 217(i think) and
Guan Yu will be captured and executed.

17. Forced Ascension - Play as Cao Pi in 217 and after Cao Cao dies this 
event should happen

18. Stone Sentinel Maze - play as a created officer in shu. 
after Cao Pi takes the throne, retire and go to Jiang Ling. 
Serve the prefect of Jiang Ling and win the battle of Yi Ling.

19. A Patriots Desire - play as Zhuge Liang or any other officer in shu in 227

20. A Regrettable Obligation - lose the battle of Jie Ting and Ma Su 
is executed

21. Zhuge Liangs death(dont know name havent goten yet) - if anyone knows
a good way to beat this one, i would apreciate it.

22. Fall of Shu - start as Guo Hai in 253. bring all the units to Chang An.
Recruit the units once and attack Han Zhong. You must win this battle. 
Immediatly afteryou take Han Zhong send another officer to take Wu Du
 with all those troops. After they are sent retire from Wei. 
Go to Zi Tong and the day Jiang Wei becomes prefect.
The event should happen when shu has less than 100,000 troops.
