-- Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song -- -- Events FAQ -- -- By Kouli (aka Ken Zhao, kenzhao99@yahoo.com) -- -- Version 0.3 -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Events FAQ is based on the Japanese version of Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song that is released on April 21, 2005. The game is made and published by Square Enix. Below presents the FULL events in the game, 89 of them in total. And before you ask, NO, you can not get them all in one playthrough. The initial progress of this FAQ used Albert as the main character and ended up with just about 76 events done. Round that up, maybe 80 is about how many you can get out of the 89 events. Now the FAQ is currently using Aisha as the main character to test few more. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \May 05~May 06, 2005/ - Version 0.1, start up the FAQ \May 07~May 08, 2005/ - Version 0.2, continue on the FAQ \May 09~May 16, 2005/ - Version 0.3, continue further on the FAQ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The game itself doesn't like it when you fight too many battles. Hence, you will literally need to avoid as many battle as possible. It's not depended on how many battles you fight, per say. It's the invisible 'point' you get for winning a battle. Those points will advance the story. It is random ultimately, but there is a balance. If your party is weak and you are fighting strong enemies, then you probably get lots of those points. If you are fighting enemies that are as strong as you are, or weaker, you probably not going to get as many points. You can count how many battles you have fought in, but those points you can't count or see at all. However, if those points direct you to the story advancement, thus, you DO can tell where you are about in the story. Also, there is a helpful aspect that tells you where you are in the story, and that is, the Volunteer Army. They are the kids around each town that can give you the town map and lots of helpful tutorials. As we all know, different events activate at different time window. There may be some vary from character to character, but mostly, the common ones should be the same. And of course, there are ones exclusive to a character, but those are really the miniority. Event 54 to Event 77 are all from the Minstrel. These are all mini stories that he tells if you decide to listen to them at a PUB. Some are ONLY happening if you have completed certain event. Also, there are few that aren't restricted to a particular PUB, and often can be done in another PUB. Just so you know about the little random-ness in this. For Event 24, 41, 45 and 46, if you go against their wishes, i.e kill only that type of monster they wish to increase, the events would fail. However, you also get to fight an 'Evil' version of them and obtain strong weapons at the end. The weapons are different from the ones they normally reward you, BTW. As for Event 51, 52 and 53, that connects with Event 56, 57 and 58, it is true that you can only activate one among 51, 52 and 53. However, 56, 57 and 58 can all be activate in one play. Something like increase your Faith to the Evil Gods, then go neutral and finally back to the Faith to the Light God/Elore. So, how can the Volunteer Army help? Well, remember the new option they offer from time to time? They INDICATE where you are in the story. Running and dying from a battle shouldn't count into that. Also, about the Volunteer Army's Comment, since there are other ones can come up but they don't necessarily count into this, so make sure it's the exact comment as above. BTW, this is up to over 100% of the game. Even though that's all there is listed above for the whole game, but there are other ones that are probably not likely listed at the moment and they are mostly connect with other events. It's better for you to keep an eye for the events listed below and at least try to activate some of them and see if anything happens. Going around the world is alright, as long as you don't win battles. This is still preliminary works, not everything is set. There is also Orchard which you can get to by speaking with a man in Altours in the beginning of the game, such as with 0 battle won. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <01 - Isthmus East's Monster> Info Source: Inside Isthmus Castle-Throne Room-Diana Detail: This is Albert only and can be triggered right at the beginning part of Albert's game. Your search needs to be careful, thanks to the game's silly camera angles. Anyway, after you finish all 10 monsters, you can exit out to complete the event. You don't need to save all miners but might as well do it. <35 - Isle Of Evil> Info Source: Yeoville Detail: After Event 27, back to Elore Temple at Melville. Anyway, within the dungeon, just pay attention to the stairs and use the D-Pad to walk slow or fast. On the next area, you gonna need to avoid that ball. Rather easy if you just run side ways. You need to check the 6 mini altars in order to lower the path to north. What's next is just repeatitions, except it may gets harder. In the end, you will reach to the 4th floor. Enter the door and more scenes. If Wey=Kvin escapes, then event fails and no Emerald. Once that's done, it's time to get into the castle and meet with the King. After more scenes, boss fight. Little scene after and that is it for the event. But do head back to the Melville sewer and to the Pirate Hideout. There is one more pirate here, select the second option will get you access to the location "Pirate's Coast". There, you can get the Pirate Silver to join the party. To get back here in the future, you'll have to speak with that pirate again at the Pirates Hideout inside the Melville sewer and select the second option. Next area, go up and go right to the jail area. You have to beat Red Dragon first, however. After, go up and for the right Theodore, just get the one that the statue faces at. After the scene, now head out this place and go to Weiserheim. After the scene, you will fight Ifrit. After, don't forget to speak with Flamme, select the first option to get the Ruby. <38 - Frozen Castle> Info Source: NetherWorld-Des' Room Detail: Follow Event 57 and get to Meifu/NetherWorld where you can meet with Des. If anyone has died already, such for my case, Dragon Knight is dead, and I pick choice 3 then choice 1 to bring it back but the protagonist will loose 1 LP permanently. Des will then trigger this event. After Event 82, head toward the Frozen Lake in Shiverland, a scene will take place where the ice finally melts and reveals the castle. Within the castle, you can get Red Demon Magician to join the party. This guy can actually use Darkness and Evil Spells. Once you make your way down to the first floor, enter the door to the Statue Room. Go up and examine that Obsidian Sword. Select the 2nd choice to fight Fliele and Drake. After, you will obtain Obsidian Sword. You can also try to ask Fliele to join. When you try to exit out this place, Red Demon Magician will reveal himself as Minion Hate. Select the second choice to fight him. After you beat him, that is it for the event. <39 - Jewel Beast!> Info Source: Water Dragon's Temple-Water Dragon's Room Detail: Finish Event 45, go to speak with Water Dragon again. The event will be triggered. Also, you may as well finish Event 33, and go to the location to the Jewel Beast. In there, examine poles for battles. After, jump to the center pole to go down. Then climb your way down and a nasty fight. At the end of the cave, you would fight Jewel Beast. Good luck killing it at this point of the game. If you can kill it at this point, then Event 49 can not be triggered later. <40 - Mt. Tomae's Monster> Info Source: Jelton-PUB Detail: At any point where you are to head to Mt. Tomae to meet Flame Tyrant then Jelton is likely to be taken by monsters already. In the PUB of Jelton, speak with the owner to trigger this event, as well as the new location 'Mt. Tomae'. At the end of Mt. Tomae, you would meet with Flame Tyrant. That ends this event. <41 - Increase Monsters! (Plant)> Info Source: Mt. Tomae-Central Part-Flame Tyrant Detail: After Event 44, head back to speak with Flame Tyrant at the central part in Mt. Tomae. You can get another request from him. You are to increase the Plant type monsters. Just killing non-Plant monsters isn't going to work, because there is the food chain to worry about and You can come back to Flame Tyrant to see the Order. Basically, you are to have Insect Type go up to Number 1. Just view that order frequently and see what's above Plant. Flame Tyrant will reward you the Ruler's Great Axe in the end where you can use it to summon Flame Tyrant. <42 - Gale Shoes> Info Source: Great Pit-Deepest Part-Adylice Detail: Head to Bayre Plateau and at north, you can enter the Great Pit. At the deepest part, you can meet with Adylice. Select the second choice then the first to take his request. Finish Event 43, you would get the Rain Cloud Bangle after giving Adylice the Gale Shoes. <43 - Fire God Defensive Hoop> Info Source: Mt. Scurve-Peak-Tiny Feather Detail: At the end of Event 23, you can take Tiny Feather's request. You are to get the Fire God Defensive Hoop from Flame Tyrant at Mt. Tomae. When you do meet Flame Tyrant, he wants you to get the Ice Sword. This opens up Event 44 below. Complete Event 44, and with the Fire God Defensive Hoop, head back to Tiny Feather to get the Gale Shoes. <44 - Ice Sword> Info Source: Mt. Tomae-Central Part-Flame Tyrant Detail: Continue from Event 43, to get the Ice Sword, head to Altours. Looks like someone beat you to it and bought it already. Speak with the the person outside that shop, looks like it is Garahad that bought the Ice Sword. Head to the left of the PUB, then you would see him by the exit out of the town. Speak with him about the situation and if you have less than 5 people in the party, he would join and you would get the Ice Sword. Now go back to Flame Tyrant and you will obtain the Fire God Defensive Hoop. A little note about Garahad and the Ice Sword, you can actually have Garahad in the party through out this event. But the thing is, you will need to kick him out of the party. Also, besure to speak with the person outside that shop that had the Ice Sword, so your Player Note would mention that it's Garahad that bought the sword. Normally, after you kick Garahad out, he would just be back at Mirsa Temple at Crystal City, but travel back Altours and Crystal City few times, and Garahad will no longer be in Mirsa Temple, instead he is at Altours holding the Ice Sword. Since you had him in the party before, and if you have less than 5 people in the party, you can easily get him to join and obtain the Ice Sword. Why go through all these troubles? Because the other side of this case is you would END UP fighting him. It IS better to to have him in the party then kick him out then get him back along with the Ice Sword. <45 - Increase Monsters! (Aquatic)> Info Source: Water Dragon's Temple-Water Dragon's Room-Water Dragon Detail: After Event 22, back to the Water Dragon Temple. You can now go use that right door. Through there, you can collect Water Dragon's Red Jade, Blue Jade, Yellow Jade and Green Jade. Then head to the room before the Water Dragon. Input the Four Jades to the corresponding colored altars. Meet with the Water Dragon and get his request. You are to increase the aquatic type monsters. Just killing non-aquatic monsters isn't going to work, because there is the food chain that gets into consideration. You can come back to the Water Dragon to see the Order. Basically, you are to have Aquatics go up to Number 1. Do avoid fish and slime, but kill birds. Just view that order frequently and see what's above Aquatics. For me, I had Aquatics at second spot and 'Other Type' at the top, so I actually had to kill slimes at the end and finish this event. The event awards you the Water Dragon Sword that can summon out Water Dragon in battle. <46 - Increase Monsters! (Insect)> Info Source: Great Pit-Deepest Part-Adylice Detail: After Event 42, head back to speak with Adylice at the deepest part of the Great Pit. You can get another request from him. ANYWAY, you can meet up with Marine again and hear her new request. If you are not ready, make sure you don't get close to her, otherwise you will be stuck in the Undersea Temple til you beat 2 tough bosses. Just make sure you save your game at an inn then take her request. To save your game in the Undersea Temple, use the Quick Save. Accept her request with the first option and after events, you will be in the water. In first person view, move toward Marine and ends up in a battle. After, you will end up in the temple. Move on through the temple, do watch out for the holes in the floor. You will also have to fight fixed on screen guards. When you do make it to the end, you will then fight the Guardian. After, move up to get the Black Daia. Now, back track out this temple and you might as well use the holes to drop yourself down. Before you exit out, make a Quick Save. This time, you will fight Minion Strife. Finishing him marks the end of the request and Marine will leave, you will also get the Nymph Bangle. <49 - West End Destruction> Info Source: PUB Detail: Avoid doing Event 39, then Jewel Beast will start moving. Eventually, it will destroy Yassi, then Saoki then finally ends up at West End. Defeat the Jewel Beast. <50 - Mirra/Mummy Merchant> Info Source: North Estamir-PUB-Merchant Detail: Speak with the merchant in the PUB of North Estamir. Here, you can get a Luminous Grass and check out the skull to get the Corpse Pendant. Time to return to those two at Melville. More scenes and that ends this event. <79 - Soul Drain> Info Source: Uso Detail: There should be a festival going on. Speak around and the event will triggers. Exit out and re-enter Uso to have everyone back to where they usually are. Now speak with one(left) of the two men by the lake then exit out to Steppes of Galessa. At the center part, you see three monsters circling around. After some battles or return in later time, speak with the woman in front of the Magic Shop of Uso. Now back to the monsters at Steppes of Galessa. There should be four monsters at there, circling around. Back to Uso and more scene. After, speak with
        the man with a scythe at Uso. Pick the second option to hear a story.
        Now back to the Steppes of Galessa for more scene and time to fight
        'Soul Drain'. You will need Arts that have the effect to 'Stun' the
        enemy. Once you got Stun on Soul Drain, a special sequence should
        show up at the end of the round where Soul Drain will spin itslef.
        Now use the Right Stick and spin it as well, clockwise. Have the
        speed from slow, then move to fast. If you do it right, Soul Drain
        will flashes, and you will need 5 flashes. So you will need to do
        this 5 flashes consecutively. Once you got the thing right, this is
        really easy. If you fail, just repeat. The focus is to have Stun on
        Soul Drain. The higher your damage, the higher chance to stun. Thus,
        it's best to combo that stun art with something else. Once you do
        it right, meaning Soul Drain flashes 5 times, the battle ends. Back
        to Uso and speak with the Minstrel.

<80 - Legendary Dragon Knight>
Info Source: Eugenscadt-Heinrich
Detail: Head to the Audience Room in Eugenscadt for a scene. Speak with
        Heinrich, select the first option and Raphael will join the party

        way to the second area to meet with the Dragon Knight. You will
        fight it but you can't damage it normally. You will need to use the
        "Dragon Formation" in order to end the battle. There will messages
        in the battle to give you hints to do it. Formation is one thing,
        the luck factor is probably heavily involved as well. After, if you
        don't have Neidhart in the party, then he will come and battle the
        Dragon Knight. To get Neidhart in the party, check Event 26. Second
        way to prevent this is don't bring Albert to meet with Neidhart at
        all.

<81 - Loui's Escort>

<83 - The Called Misfortunate Girl>
Info Source: PUB
Detail: Sheryl randomly appears in a PUB. When you do see her, speak to her
        and this event will triggers. After, exit out and re-enter that PUB
        to speak with the owner. You are going to repeat this for many more
        times. Finding her and hear her sad story is one thing, you can
        only get this to happen about 5 times. That means you need to be
        at least on your third playthrough. For about every 10% of the game
        itself, and once the game reaches middle part(50%), this ends no
        matter what. The number of times you met her and heard her stories
        will carry into the next playthrough. Sheryl appears in a PUB after
        some battles, you have to watch out your progress with the game so
        you don't miss each chance. Anyway, at the last time, Sheryl will
        finally take you along to the plains where you will end up fighting
        Minion Wail. You will get the Diamond in the end, and Sheryl turns
        out to be Sheraha, one of the three Evil Gods. In the Estamir sewer,
        there is a temple, it is actually Sheraha Temple. At later part of
        the game, head back here and speak with the Priest. Sheraha/Sheryl
        will show up and invite you to her Darkness Castle. Continue your
        way down to Area 4, open the door and MAKE SURE you save your game.
        Go up and time to fight Sheraha. After, more scene and that is it.

<84 - Who am I...>
Info Source: Village
Detail: You will need Dark to join first and you will need to be on your 2nd
        playthrough, at least. For your previous playthrough, you need to
        meet with Minion Wail which there are about 3 chances. Then you will
        need to finish the Assassins' Guild event and finally, you need to
        at least meet with Des. For your next playthrough, Dark will show up
        in the intro now. The requirement for Neidhart to show up in the
        intro is meet him, clear Albert's game and read Rudolf's diary in
        Isthmus Castle. If you meet that requirement, as well as the ones
        for Dark, then you can only get Dark to join in Aisha's game. Once
        you got him in the party, pay attention to Dark's Dex and Int. As
        they increase, Dark will regain memories when you visit a town. Then
        with Dex less than 50, and more than 40 Int, head to the NetherWorld
        (Meifu) and speak with Des. There should be a new option where you
        can access the Rengoku(Purgatory). Rengoku has 1000 floors.

        get the event activated. There is an altar like area, if there is an

        Spirit Jewel is at the western part of Mazewood, Water Spirit Jewel is
        at the Water Dragon Temple B3F. This is a bit complicated. First you
        should clear Event 21 and 22, then come back to the Water Dragon
        Temple. At the first area, you can now take the right door. In there,
        take the most SE(most right path at south) to get to B3F. Once you have
        obtained these four jewels, back to the Faeries' Grove for the Gold
        Spirit Jewel from a Fairy. With all those 5 Jewels, back to the altar
