Introduction ============================================================================== I wrote this faq for three distinct reasons: Ichi - Nu Wa is one of the best generals and the best CAW you can get in terms of speed and power. Ni - No one else has written a faq on her yet, and I think that's a darn shame. San - I need something to go on my contributor page besides a review or two. So there you have it. I'm also partial to Nu Wa as she's the last character I unlocked in Dynasty Warriors 3, and as I later found out, she was worth the wait. I'm the type who values speed above all else (except maybe power) so her abilities were a huge boon for me. ============================================================================== 2. History ============================================================================== Nu Wa is the goddess of creation. As legend goes, she created humanity because the world was populated with trees and animals, but no people. She was the lonely sort, as it goes. She is also said to be the wife of Fu Xi, who started that whole marriage bit. As the legend goes, she created humanity by making figurines of us. However, this was too time-consuming, so she dipped a rope in the earth and swung it around her, causing splashes of mud to go everywhere. The figurines became the wealthy, elite class, while the mud became the common class (otherwise known as poor). My favorite legend, however, states that across the northwesters ocean live ten ghosts who were born from Nu Wa's bowels. How can you not love that? ============================================================================== 3. Why should I use her? ============================================================================== Pros -'Godlike' attack speed -Decent crowd clearer (not great, but not terrible either) -Fast running speed -Charge attacks take less time than other characters Cons -Better for one-on-one battles -Horrible musou attack. Just horrible. -Below-average attack range -Can't be used in Legend mode unless in a previously cleared scenario. So as you can see, she's sort of an advanced character. The lack of range should be compensated by equipping a wind scroll on her. Once that's done, expect her to do a lot more damage to crowds. Her musou attack is indeed horrible, but that can't be helped. Her speed is the key to her fighting style. She can usually run right up to a general through his crowd of bodyguards, do a quick six strikes, run away, lather, rinse, repeat. The best way to use her is with her SSST. Her charge time is lower than most generals, so she can pull it off and start it up again in a short amount of time. Using that move over and over will pretty much decimate a crowd, and really annoy any general in your path. ============================================================================== 4. How do I create her? ============================================================================== Go to Edit Mode in the main menu and go to Officer Edit. Her stats are as follows: Gender: Female Name: Nu Wa Color: Green Head: Short Hair Chest: Dancer Garb Arms & Legs: Dancer Garb Hip: Battle Garb Motion (weapon): Rapier LordDavion's version: Gender: Female Name: Nu Wa Color: Green Head: Short Hair Chest: Battle Garb Arms & Legs: Armor Hip: Armor Motion (weapon): Rapier And there you have it. She should start with three item slots, which means she'll gain a maximum of six! ============================================================================== 5. Moves ============================================================================== T - She will make a series of slashes while stepping forward, finishing with a semi-charged slash. If you equip a lightning orb and/or wind scroll, this move becomes a great crowd-clearer. Otherwise the lack of range might cause you to miss a few people. ST - She will make an upward swing with her sword. Knocks people into the air. What more can I say, juggle attacks aren't that useful anymore... SST - She'll make a number of quick slashes, much like Lu Bu and Guan Yu. The ending attack is a small jump and spin slash that hits everyone around her. Much like other charge rushes, this one's great for mowing through a crowd and beating up poor, defenseless generals. SSST - With a quick dash and a slash, she'll knock down whoever's in front of her. This move comes with an elemental attack, so vorpal users will get some instant death action. I recommend the lightning orb to improve her crowd-clearing potential, however. With a wind scroll, this becomes one heck of a crowd-clearer, so use it well! SSSST - This is interesting. She'll make a quick stab forward, then turn around 180 degrees and make an upward slash. It follows up with a jump attack if you press T again. SSSSST - I call this "The Juggler." A better version of her musou, she will stab forward repeatedly, ending in a dashing thrust. Tapping T increases the amount of stabs. Make absolutely sure you'll be able to hit whoever you're aiming for, otherwise you'll leave yourself open for a second to back attacks. It's a little hard to aim with her speed, but if you can pull it off, whoever's on the other end will be having a bad day. Musou - She will make a series of stabs straight forward that you can aim with the control stick. Unfortunately, she stands in place while doing this, so the AI is smart enough to stay out of your way. She finishes by launching forward and doing a spinning attack in whatever direction she's facing. Horse Attack - Simple swings to the right and left with her sword, much like most characters. Nothing to write home about. Horse Charge - This one's fun. She'll make a series of swings on the right side and only the right side, so all you have to do is come up to the enemy on the left and you've got them in a world of hurt. Dash Attack - She'll run forward with her sword pointed in front of her, mowing down anyone in her path. Great if you can aim, bad if you miss. Jump Attack - A stab downward. Like most jumping attacks, use this only when recovering from being knocked down, or to get enemies off their horses or elephants. Otherwise, there are better moves. Jump Charge - This one is interesting. Rather than slamming her weapon into the ground, she lands, then spins in a circle and causes what I imagine is a rush of air to surround her and knock out anyone nearby. Counter Attack - I've always had a bit of a hard time pulling this off, but the best tip I can give is to hit T while guarding as soon as the enemy begins his swing. Nu Wa will do a move similar to her third charge and make a dash swing forward, knocking away the attacker and anyone nearby. ============================================================================== 6. 10th Weapon ============================================================================== The levels and experience needed are as follows: Lv1 = 0 Lv2 = 1000 Lv3 = 3000 Lv4 = 6000 (5th hit earned) Lv5 = 10000 Lv6 = 15000 Lv7 = 21000 (6th hit earned, final form of her normal weapon) Lv8 = 28000 Lv9 = 36000 Nu Wa's 10th weapon can be acquired thusly: -You must be on Hard difficulty -You must have her weapon at level 9 already -You must be on the Yellow Turban Menace stage in Dynasty Warriors 4 -Defeat these generals in this order: Gao Sheng, Deng Mao, Huang Shao, He Yi, Yen Zheng You have to foil both ambush attacks by the Yellow Turbans. The first three generals are just to get it started. Alternatively, you can ride across the bridge at the upper half of the map, then ride back and stop the ambush. Considering you've probably done this stage a million times before, you should know how to proceed from there. Nu Wa's 11th weapon can be acquired thusly: -You must be on Expert difficulty -You must have her weapon at level 10 already -You must be playing Legend mode on the Yi Ling map First off, exit the castle straight away to join Cao Pi's army. Go right back into the castle and slaughter everything that moves, including generals and sub-generals, but leave Yuan Xi alone. You also must close all enemy gates and get 150 KO's in the process. If you kill a general before the corresponding sub-general, you can get yourself an extra 50 KO's to compensate for this. ============================================================================== 7. Quotes ============================================================================== Accepting a Duel - "Challenge accepted!" Taunt - "Don't take me lightly!" Musou - "Take this! Haaaah!" True Musou - "This is it!" After defeating a General - "Enemyy Officer Defeated!" Anyone want to help me finish the rest, I'll credit them for it. ============================================================================== 8. Recommended Equipment ============================================================================== Nu Wa has a maximum of six item slots. My recommendations are as follows: Shadow Runner saddle (why anyone wouldn't choose this one is beyond me, but if you feel the need to use Red Hare or whatever, go ahead, I can't stop you.) Lightning orb to improve her crowd-clearing range, or vorpal orb once you get one of a high level. Tortoise Amulet Tiger Amulet Wind Scroll (her range lacks) Speed Scroll (at higher levels, she's as fast as a horse) Herbal Remedy The sixth item can be whatever you want, though I recommend the Seven Star Sash so peons will drop more powerups. I also recommend the Peacock Urn if it's at high levels (greater than 15) because you can never have too many hit points. ============================================================================== 9. Acknowledgements ============================================================================== A lot of credit goes to Muni, as I took a good deal of information from his faq rather than reset my data and start from scratch. Also LordDavion for a secondary Nu Wa look, and milad471 for Nu Wa's 'officer defeated' quote. ============================================================================== 10.
