This contains a complete walkthrough and weapons list. I'm not usually into lists, but this wouldn't be a guide without discussing the weapons in some detail. I implemented a quick-find system in order to help those folks who don't feel like randomly scrolling through text in search of some small thing. Just look above in the table of contents to find the section, highlight the reference number (such as 1.1), and hold ctrl and C to copy it. Then, hold ctrl and F to open a Find screen, and finally press ctrl and V to paste the number and search for the section. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.2 About the Game ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Drakengard is a tale of war in ancient times. Mighty dragons and ghastly evil creatures still roam the world, and among these beasts are the human alliances known as the Union and the Empire. While the Union strives to protect the goddess that protects the harmony of the world, the Empire seeks to destroy the goddess and take control of everything in existence. This goddess is the sole protector of the four great seals that are said to keep the Gods at bay. Should the seals be broken, the Gods would sow the Seeds of Resurrection upon the earth. Furiae is the goddess during these times, and upon her shoulders she bares the burden... alone. Caim, the brother of Furiae, is a soldier in the Union. The game begins with him in the midst of a battle that will decide the fate of the goddess, and of the earth itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.3 About the Walkthrough ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Each chapter is divided into several subchapters called "verses". In order to avoid spoilers and minimize the size of the guide I only include verses that involve actual gameplay. All cutscenes and related gibberish are excluded from the walkthrough. I also include every verse in the walkthrough, even the ones that are not available from the start. Just skip ahead or ignore any verses you have already completed or have not unlocked yet. The same goes for anything related to leveling up and collecting weapons. Those two topics have their own sections in the guide, both of which can be located through Table of Contents at the top. Thanks. Enjoy the guide! ============================================================================== 2.0 BASICS ================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.1 Game Start ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New Game - - - - - Select this to begin a new game. L3 | Move character | Move character | View enemy HP R3 | Move camera | Move camera | View map Square | Attack | Fire attack | - Tri. | Magic attack, | Magic attack | Exit menus | final blow | | - Circle | Use ally | Switch target | - X | Jump | Speed up | Select in menus L1 | Dodge left | Dodge left | - L2 | Block | Camera on target | - R1 | Dodge right | Dodge right | - R2 | Change weapon | Face the target | - Select | Mount/dismount | - | - Start | - | - | Pause ------------------------------------------------------------------ Techniques - - - - - - Anybody can just mash buttons, but it takes a true strategist to apply some technique to battle. Here are some things that can help you put the hurt on the bad guys without them hurting you back. Ground Missions: The key here is to never let your enemy hit you. Instead of pressing Square repeatedly, press Tri. after the weapon flashes. This will release a final blow that hurts all the enemies around you. Don't be shy with the Tri. magic attacks either as they are a good way to keep a safe distance from the big groups. When fighting big groups, DO NOT turn your back to them. You can turn as you slash to keep those to the side and behind you away. Jumping and slashing works well with the big enemies that attack in small numbers. The slow, strong weapons also apply to the big guys. Speaking of weapons, make sure you have the right one for the job. You want the fast swords for large groups and slow weapons for one-on-one combat. When facing the big and slow enemies you may run into a move where they will block your attack as a blue spark appears. This will leave you stunned and open for attack. To avoid this use L2 after you see the blue spark and you'll block any counterattacks. Speed can be your ally out in the open. Just run for a while until you see Caim speed up, then press Square to release a devastating shockwave into a large group of enemies. Defense is another good idea, especially for multiple projectile enemies. Hold L2 to block all damage from incoming attacks. Use dragon whenever possible! She can take out entire legions in a matter of minutes with the fire attacks, and the magic attacks can clear them out as well. If you are faced with archers or wizards just use L1 and R1 to dodge from side to side and avoid projectiles. Aerial Missions: Let's face it, dragons kick ass. The dragon in this game is no exception, but there are a few things that can be a bother. Make sure to HOLD Square so you can lock on to several enemies at once. This eliminates the huge numbers of enemies that are often grouped together. Use the magic attack sparingly as dragon takes longer to refill the magic gauge. Save it for the big ones. Use L1 and R1 to dodge fast enemy projectiles. You can also press L1 + R1 to make a quick turn in the opposite direction. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.5 Weapons ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Getting Weapons - - - - - - - - There are a total of 65 weapons in Drakengard, and 64 of them are spread out throughout the game. Some weapons are acquired after beating certain missions and some will be found in treasure chests within the missions. Section 5.0 goes into more detail about each individual weapon. Equipping Weapons - - - - - - - - - Once you have more than weapon you can equip them by selecting Weapon from the bottom right of the screen after you have selected a mission. There you can view stats add weapons to the eight you are allowed to hold during battle. It is best to have a variety of weapons to deal with all situations accordingly. Weapons Stats - - - - - - - The weapons have various stats that determine their effectiveness. Level: When you use a weapon the kills you gain are also added to that specific weapon, and after enough kills the weapon's level will go up. Higher level weapons are stronger and give quite an advantage during battle. Magic: Each weapon has its own magic attack that can be used by pressing Tri. Attack Strength: The strength of that weapon's hits. Sharpness: The sharpness of the weapon. Reach: How far the weapon can reach. Weight: How fast the weapon can attack. Material: What the weapon is made of. Combo Hits: Number of possible hits in a combo attack. Next Level: Number of kills needed for next level. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.6 Allies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Getting Allies - - - - - - - - Allies are characters that will join Caim against the Empire. Each ally has individual strengths and weaknesses, and some are more suited for different battle situations than others. Choosing Allies - - - - - - - - Allies can be chosen at the start of a chapter, in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Using Allies - - - - - - - Once you've chosen an ally they will go into battle with Caim. At any point in the game you can press Circle to switch from Caim to the ally you've chosen. The ally will begin to lose health immediately no matter what, and once the health has reached zero Caim will return to battle. Allies also have a limit to the number of times they can be summoned, and that can be checked in the R3 status screen. Allies are valuable when Caim's health is dangerously low. Just switch and hope that you can fight your way out before Caim has to return to battle. They can also use magic attacks without running out of magic, and their magic attacks won't be reflected by magic troops. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.7 Leveling Up ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This game is based on progressing through missions and gaining experience points and kills as you go along. There are three things to level up. Caim: Caim gains experience for each kill and chain attack he gets. When he finally gets enough points to go up a level his HP will increase as well. Weapons: Weapons gain levels by the number of kills they have. If a weapon is at a higher level it will get stronger and have better magic attacks. Dragon: Dragon will gain in attack strength based on the number of kills. Dragon's level will increase after completing certain chapters in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.8 Ground Troops ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Designations - - - - - - - Ground troops have different designations which are noted in a spot next to their health bar. White: Normal troops are designated by a white spot next to their health bar. These are your average soldiers and can be defeated by any means necessary. Black: Black troops can be considered the special forces of the Empire. Archers and commanders are examples of these guys. Red: Magic troops have a red spot next to their health bar and have the ability to reflect magic attacks (including dragonfire) back at you. They will also shoot magic at you if you're on dragon, so the blade is your only means of defeating them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.9 Common Power-ups ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HP Orbs - - - - The green orbs found during battle are used to replenish HP. You can get them by killing several enemies with one hit (with a final blow, chain attack, or magic attack). The more enemies you kill in one chain, the more HP you'll get with each orb. Full HP orbs can also be found in treasure chests scattered throughout the missions. Bomb Orbs - - - - - These orange orbs will explode when you touch them, damaging all surrounding enemies in the process. Power Orb - - - - - These appear only after getting a 100 chain and if your health is at 100%. They will increase your attack strength for a short time. ============================================================================== 3.0 STORY WALKTHROUGH ======================================================= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.1 Chapter 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Beginnings" Verse 2 - To the Castle - - - - - - - - - - - - And so the game begins. The Empire is laying siege to the castle where the goddess is hidden. Caim arrives just as the troops hit the castle gates. As you'll come to find out, each mission has targets that need to be taken out. You can kill as many troops as you wish, but make sure you kill any and all targets before the time limit runs out. The first set of targets is located at the first bridge ahead and just on the other side. Fight your way through (refer to section 2.4 if you need help with attack strategies), and feel free to kill any troops along the way for the valuable experience points. Once you arrive at the bridge look out for the guys with those yellow pawns above their heads. Those are the targets. Plow through the first group at the bridge, and if you run low on health there is a health chest to the right in front of a wooden wall. Cross the bridge after defeating them to find a few thousand more troops and the remaining targets. They will be troops on horseback and they're actually not that hard to defeat. Just take care of all the surrounding troops and don't remain in one spot as the horse troops can charge through you when you're not looking. After defeating these guys you'll find out that the troops have infiltrated the castle, and they've placed guards at the gate to keep out Union troops. I'm sure they didn't count on Caim showing up. March ahead and you'll see the big guys waiting for you. These will take more hits than an average soldier, and I suggest using L2 to block attacks when you need to. After defeating them you will get a treasure box with a key inside, so go grab it from the path in front of the castle. Take it back to the gate to enter the castle. Verse 4 - The Way of the Sword - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The troops have interrupted the pact between Caim and dragon, and someone's going to pay! Unleash hell on these guys, and I don't mean just the targets. Kill every single one of them. There will be a health chest at the far end of the courtyard if you need it. Four targets will appear after you have defeated the troops, and they're just like the castle guards from the previous battle. Take 'em out and return to dragon. Verse 6 - Shared Battles - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ah, the game's first aerial mission. Get a feel for flying by moving around, then try out the target lock feature by holding Square. This lets you lock onto multiple enemies at once. So, that'll do it. Follow the white arrow to go from one group of enemies to another and destroy them. To avoid attacks you can fly up and down, and press L1 or R1 to dodge from side to side. This will work for avoiding the arrows from the balloons as well. Verse 7 - Quarry Chosen - - - - - - - - - - - - Start off by defeating that flying dresser called a gargoyle. They are relatively easy to defeat as long as you keep your distance and lock on with all five dragonfire attacks. This part is the first appearance of the cubes. Cubes will appear throughout the game and have varying types of attacks. These cubes will shoot out small orbs that seem to fly around aimlessly until you get near, then they strike. The best way to attack to is to approach the wall of cubes from the left or right side so that you have the entire group lined up in two nice rows. Use you dragonfire to lay waste to them and continue attacking from the sides until they are all gone. Keep defeating cubes and gargoyles until you see the airships. These are comprised of several small targets, but there is one way to take it out with one hit. Press Tri. to use dragon's magic attack and wipe them out. If you don't have magic then just get far from the airship and turn around to lock on to as many targets as possible. Defeat the last couple of airships to move on. Verse 8 - Hate's Strength - - - - - - - - - - - - - It's back to the castle, but this time you have dragon! You can actually fly over the troops and pump them full of dragonfire to defeat them, but if you want to dismount just press Select. You will probably have to dismount to kill the archers that can reach the dragon with their arrows. If you need health at any point you can fly through the valley on the east side to find a health chest. After defeating the targets at the castle they will call for reinforcements. Get on dragon and circle around the castle to kill off the new targets, but dismount when you see arrows fly. You will have to stay on the ground while the archers live, but if you get rid of them it would be best to return to dragon. Keep killing targets until they are all dead, then return to the castle gate. Verse 9 - Pact Price - - - - - - - - - - - Get your trusty sword ready because it's time for some serious clobberin'. Run through the castle courtyard and kill as many troops as you can until you reach the castle entrance ahead. Verse 10 - Infestation - - - - - - - - - - - - The inside of the castle is no different in terms of enemies and how they can be killed. Just have at them with a good sword and it's just like before. But, this castle isn't quite like the outdoors. You're limited to hallways and doors, and you have to go through the right doors to reach the goddess. To get up to the second floor you must take the stairs in the bottom-right corner. The second floor exit is located through that central hallway that leads into the single hallway in the top-center. There is also a health chest in the left room next to that central hallway. The room holds a bunch of armor and weapons and can be accessed from the central hallway to the left. The third floor is a single hall that leads straight to the goddess's room. Defeat all the troops and targets to get the key and enter the room at the end. Kill more troops and continue on to the end. Verse 11 - A Goddess Saved - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Just beat up a few troops to get to Inuart and Furiae at the end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.2 Chapter 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Complications" Verse 1 - The Voice - - - - - - - - - - Talk to Inuart and watch the drama unfold. Verse 2 - To the Elf Village - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It's time for more aerial action. Kill off those bats with your lock-on dragonfire, then the gargoyles with the same, then the airships with locked shots and some magic attacks. This all the same ol' stuff from before so you shouldn't have a problem. Continue the killing spree until they are all dead and your target locations appears. Verse 3 - The Untrod Path - - - - - - - - - - - - - Remain on dragon as long as you can while you kill the ballista targets on the ground, as well as the next group of targets that will appear on this side of the bridge. There are very few archers anyway. From there you will have to go on foot across the bridge and into the forest. Kill any armored uglies along the way and get to the village in the north-east corner of the map. Verse 4 - Despair - - - - - - - - - Charge through the troops and to the right to find out what happened to the elf village. Verse 5 - Ominous Woods - - - - - - - - - - - - Run to the right and look for the dead soldier. Verse V - A Distant Sound - - - - - - - - - - Run to the right and look for the dead soldier. After completing this verse you will get the option of going to the Forest of the Seal or not. If you choose to go you can complete Leonard's side quest. If you choose not to go you will remain in the elf valley so you can complete the verses in Chapter 2. Verse 6 - Last Words - - - - - - - - - - - Run to the right again and find the fallen elf inside the house. Verse 7 - A Hidden Shrine - - - - - - - - - - - - - Destroy all the bats and cubes, then the various balloons that will float up. After those enemies are gone you will see an enemy called a gryphon. They're big, black, ugly birds that will fly around and attack with shockwaves similar to the bats'. Just lock onto them and keep firing until they fall. Continue killing, and when you get to the three gryphons it is best to take them on one at a time. Don't stay between all three or you'll take a beating. Verse 8 - A Secret Plan - - - - - - - - - - - - Stay on dragon and rush through the canyon, hitting troops along the way if you can. Just don't fall off dragon or you will be in for one hell of a jog. Once you reach open space jump off and run to the catapults at the edge of the canyon. Kill the two troops operating the catapult, then run to the west and kill the other two catapult operators. Get on dragon when the new targets appear and fly to the shrine in the north-west corner. There will be a good mix of magic troops in there, so say bye-bye to dragon. If you need health there will be a health chest on a bridge to the south and one inside the shrine. Kill off the targets and any other troops who looked at you funny. A wizard will appear after the targets are gone, so rush to the front of the shrine and kick his thin wizard ass! Oh, wait... Now there are dozens of them! This part can get pretty hairy, but a little patience is all you'll need. Run away from the group so that you are never between any two wizards. Once you're on the edge use L2 to block attacks as you get near each wizard and kill them one by one. I advised staying outside the group because their magic attacks can still hit you from behind. Get to the shrine after defeating all the wizards to continue. Verse 9 - The False Country - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Kill the single wizard and that'll do it. Verse X - A Lonely Battle - - - - - - - - - - - - - It's more of the same balloons, airships, and gargoyles that you've seen in previous missions. One thing I suggest is to use your magic attacks wisely, so that you kill more than one enemy at a time with them. Verse XIII - After the Torching - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Nothing new here, so grab your sword and follow the map to the targets by the canyon. Skewer the guts on the tip of your sword until they are gone, then get to the east side of the map to find a host of goblins. Kill all of those targets then fly to the target on the map to find the burned village and the origin of the voice. Verse XIV - Feeling in the Dark - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Follow the path and eliminate all troops to reach the village. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.3 Chapter 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Chance Encounters" Verse 2 - To the Dungeon - - - - - - - - - - - - - Once again you must face the gryphons. Remember to take out one at a time, then fly ahead and destroy the cubes. Save your magic attack! Continue along to find a large group of gryphons which should be easily taken out by a magic attack. Later on you'll continue meeting gryphons, as well as some ground turrets. Take 'em all out Verse 3 - Prisoners - - - - - - - - - - Verdelet has been trapped in the prison and it's up to Caim to save him. There are some archers on the ground so it's up to you if you want to risk strafing attacks. If not, just jump down and handle all the targets on foot. After that three prison guards will appear in front of the prison. Rush over there and take them one at a time. If you allow all three to gang up on you it will be a short fight in their favor. There is a health chest behind the prison if you need it. Verse 4 - Verdelet Released - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Go and talk to Verdelet in front of the prison. Verse IV - Regret - - - - - - - - - Go and talk to Verdelet in front of the prison. You will then get the option of going to the ocean temple with Arioch or staying in the desert to complete Chapter 3. Verse 5 - The Temple in the Desert - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Looks like we're flying again tonight. Blow through the cubes and gargoyles with dragonfire, but be careful when you reach the cubes that rotate and follow you. The best way to handle them is to shoot from far away. A weak tactic, but effective. Keep going along and remember to always kill the gargoyles first. When the battle ends make your way to the target location. Verse 6 - The Seal - - - - - - - - - - Imperial forces are attempting to take over the temple in the desert, so what are you waiting for? Fly to the east side of the map to find the temple and plenty of dragonfire targets. The archers are all near the temple which means you can destroy any targets around the outside. Dismount for the temple and take out those magic troops to finish off these targets. Some archers have been called in and are approaching from the north. This is a job for the blade. Get over there and kill all targets and maybe a few others for the hell of it, then return to temple and west to tackle the reinforcements on foot. Defeat the final targets and quickly return to the temple. Verse 7 - Dark Creatures - - - - - - - - - - - - - Run through the desert while disposing of enemies until you reach the temple. Verse 8 - Sacred Remains - - - - - - - - - - - - - The wraiths are so easy to defeat that it's not even funny. Send 'em all back to hell with extreme prejudice. After the wraith attack you will have to handle another set of reinforcements. You can take the ones near the temple with dragon, but the targets furthest away from the temple are magic troops. Choose your best sword and taken them out on foot. From there you make another return trip to the temple to kill the Imperial commanders. These guys are not push-overs like all the other chumps so far, so remember to use final blows (check section 2.4 for details). Simply keep slashing and combine that with final blows so that they never get a chance to counter attack. After ALL that work you still lose the temple, and somehow a couple of commanders snuck by you. Get up there to end the mission. Verse 9 - The Harp - - - - - - - - - - Talk to Furiae. Verse IX - The Unquiet Voice - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Talk to Furiae. Verse X - Gaol - - - - - - - - The battle begins with the average cubes and some new enemies I'll call statues. The statues can not be attacked until they open, and they will not open until you get near. Just lock on from far away and release when you see the middle twist open. Kill off this group then fly up a couple of hundred feet. Now you'll face off against a wraith. The wraiths can't be attacked either because they block all attacks with their scythes. What I like to do is lock on with all shots then approach from directly in front. When the wraith throws its scythe release your shots and fly straight up to avoid the scythe's spinning. Repeat as necessary to kill them. When you reach the field of many statues and a few wraiths I'd suggest you coax the wraiths out away from the statues and kill them separately. Then go back and finish off the statues. Verse XIII - Release - - - - - - - - - - - Well, it's about time we get some other dragons in this. It's all out dogfighting too, so it should be fun. Dragons are just as nimble and fast as your own, but they don't seem to have lock-on attacks. You do. Just tackle one dragon at a time and keep using L1 and R1 to dodge their attacks as you hunt them down. From there you'll fight some balloons and an airship surrounded by dragons. If you time and aim it just right your magic attack can take out the airship and a few dragons with it. Otherwise just get rid of the remaining dragons one by one until they fall. Keep destroying dragons and airships until the target location appears. Verse XIV - Found - - - - - - - - - The voice continues to call out, but first we must kill some more. Kill the group of targets in front of the gate on foot, using the best weapon you have. After defeating them you have to go through the narrow valley in the middle and get rid of those targets to reach the location of the Imperial gaol. DO NOT approach the gaol from straight ahead. There is a ballista right in front and it can kill you rather quickly. Go around the the left or right side and kill the ballista operator, then start killing off the targets around the gaol. When the targets appear on the right side go handle them, then return and finish off the gaol targets. Verse XV - Arioch Lives - - - - - - - - - - - - Follow the arrow to a house near the middle. That is where Arioch is found. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.4 Chapter 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Betrayal" Verse 4 - Strength Remains - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It's the usual mix of balloons, ground turrets, airships, a few gargoyles, and our newest friend the black dragon. All can be killed just like before, and once again I recommend saving a magic attack to take out the last airship and a few dragons at the same time. Either way it shouldn't be a problem. Verse 5 - Violent Lands - - - - - - - - - - - - Now we approach one of the uuugliest group of troops I have ever seen. It consists of these little Yoda-like things they call goblins and some big ones that look like pigs. They are really just make-overs for the usual types of troops, so defeating them should be a piece of crumb cake. Stay on dragon for the time being and follow the line of targets, taking out each one with dragonfire. Return to the southern corner for another group of targets, then wait for some targets to appear in the west. These guys are packin' magic and cannons, so leave the dragon behind. Kill the little red goblins much like the other ones, but don't stand around for the cannons to hit you. Kill the slow piggies from behind, then head back toward the middle for yet MORE targets. This is a good mix of all the freaks so far, so handle the magic goblins and cannon pigs on foot, then kill the rest with dragon. Move north from there to meet the freak commanders. The poor guys aren't even packing arrows, so feel free to lay waste to them with dragonfire. Go through the northern pass to continue. Verse 6 - Caim's Past - - - - - - - - - - - Mow down the many pigs and move on. Verse VI - Seere's Sister - - - - - - - - - - - - - Get to the end of the path, and kill the pigs if you like. Verse 7 - Forbidden Lands - - - - - - - - - - - - - They're trying to run away? How sad. Chase after the fleeing freaks and let loose the dragonfire. There are some archers among them as well, but if you follow the path you should make it through in two passes. Some reinforcements will then arrive from the east. Get off dragon and run up the path, killing anything in your sight. Then turn around and head back to that small village to meet a couple of ogres who are itchin' for a fight. Dragon will be of no use with archers around, so go at it on foot. These ogre guys are pretty tough, but if you use a good weapon, lots of chain attacks, and MAGIC, then you should be fine. Verse 9 - Voice of Stone - - - - - - - - - - - - - Cut through the line of troops as they head to the gorge in the south-east corner. You can try it with dragon, but she might fall with the groups of archers scattered around. Just take them all on foot if you have to. After they have been defeated you will have to fly into the gorge to fight a war-golem. This thing is huge and can only be defeated with dragon. The problem is there are a lot of wizards in the narrow paths of the gorge, and it's difficult to mount on dragon while in the gorge. Give it a try and if you fall off go through and kill any wizards that would be in the way. Once you reach the golem you can definitely mount on dragon, so clear out the wizards and blast that golem back to a pile of bricks. The easiest way is to go to one end and turn around, fire a few shots, then go far and turn around again. Go to the path in the south-east corner to escape the gorge and enter Imperial lands. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.5 Chapter 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Destruction" Verse 2 - Turning Point - - - - - - - - - - - - The main enemies will be the cyclops, though they will have external weapons scattered around their bodies. The cyclops are quite slow and it is just a matter of avoiding their eye blasts and striking with yours when the time is right. You can not hit the eyes when they are powering up, so stay far away and use your dodge buttons (L1 and R1) to make quick side dodges and avoid the blasts. To attack the monsters it is best to get far away so you have room to set up a proper attack run. Then just lock-on to the eyes and release the blast when you see an opening. As for the external weaponry, it shouldn't be a big problem. You'll see more of the beloved cubes and some new ones I'll call squids. These things sort of float around and shoot at you, but they are also quick to react if you get near. Just lock-on and fire from a distance. If you still have a magic attack when you get to the third cyclops I suggest you use it. Verse 3 - Rapture - - - - - - - - - Man, they're not kidding when they say thousands! But even though there are a lot of troops, it's the same ol' story. You can either fly over all these guys and pick them off or you can dismount and slash your way through the hordes. There are some archers scattered among the groups so you may have to dismount at certain points. After that set of targets some new ones will appear in the south-west corner of the map. It's another thousand or so red troops, so get off dragon and slash your way through them as well. Don't waste too much time either. Ok then, the next set of targets will be gathered around the mountain in the center. Fly around it with dragon and make as many passes as it takes to take out the targets on all four sides. Then, FINALLY, the final commanders will appear. It's those same guys on horseback only surrounded by dozens of archers. Dragon won't be of any more use, so dismount and approach the group from the outside. If you start in the middle you will definitely get sliced up by all the flying arrows. Cut through each commander and any archers that appear during the fight. If you need health there is a health chest by a rock in the center of the group, and again, DO NOT stand around if you get overwhelmed. Leave the area and knock around a few normal troops to get some health. Verse 4 - A False Peace - - - - - - - - - - - - Talk to the target soldier. Verse 6 - The Gods Speak - - - - - - - - - - - - - Run up and talk to Verdelet. Verse 7 - Emergence - - - - - - - - - - Undead soldiers? What tenacity these guys have. So, here's the breakdown. You can take out the targets in the north-west and south-east with dragon, but the other two groups will be packin' magic troops. Those will have to be taken out on foot. And if you thought they were already undead, look at 'em now! After you finish off each group it will spawn a new set of targets of undead soldiers, but they don't appear until you get near them on foot. Use your best sword (one with a long maximum chain attack, I hope) and run through each target one by one. The long chain attacks will get you those valuable green orbs, and if you have magic go ahead and use it. Throw in a lot of final blows to make the battle really easy. Keep going through them, and keep in mind that there is a health chest near the undead targets in the southern canyon. Verse 8 - Menace - - - - - - - - - Oh boy, this keeps on gettin' tougher and tougher. Caim takes to the skies once again. Skies full of new enemies and a whole lot of old ones. The new enemies are the red eyes. They seem docile from far away as they shine red, but when you get near they turn a green color and blast you full of whatever it is they shoot. Keep away from them at all costs and use L1 or R1 to dodge every second or two. In fact, use L1 or R1 throughout the battle, while holding and releasing Square every second as well. It's going to get pretty hectic and the best way to handle them all is to kill as many as possible from far away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.6 Chapter 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "An Old Enemy" Verse 2 - A Black Dragon - - - - - - - - - - - - - Inuart and his own dragon finally make a worthwhile appearance, albeit a difficult one. His dragon seems to have the ability to dodge at lightning speed, and the lock-on shots can be seen from a mile away. The best thing to do is keep your thumb on the accelerator at all times and continue to the Square button so you can launch the stronger non-locked shots. The reasoning here is that if you stay VERY close to Inuart and accelerate you can keep him in view for the unlocked shots. These will cause more damage and will interrupt the dragon when it begins to charge the magic attack. You'll see the health bar deplete quickly. Continue with that attack pattern until your magic attack is charged and you can really do some damage. Just wait until he is within view and release the magic attack to take a big chunk out of his health bar. Verse 3 - Destiny - - - - - - - - - Into the beast's belly, so to speak. Start by killing off the dragons guarding the entrance (which shouldn't be a problem after the Inuart battle). After that it's a game of seek-and-destroy with all the cannons aboard this flying death fortress. Just follow your radar and make sure to tackle all the cannons around the outside edges and through the corridors. From there you'll have to enter a large room in the center and destroy the remaining cannons. Verse 4 - Unholy Prayers - - - - - - - - - - - - - Holy hell, only 20 minutes! If you check your map you'll notice that all the rooms are a single path that ends up in a narrow hallway. Rush through the troops and DO NOT fight them. You don't want to waste time here, but obviously you can clear out any guys that are in your way. Keep going until you get to the second floor. Now you have to take out four generators that are keeping the main door locked. Easy enough, really. Get the key that is revealed and march through the center steps to get to the next floor. Verse 5 - Mute - - - - - - - - Run through and kill any troops who get in your way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.7 Chapter 7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Tragedy" Verse 4 - The Sorrowful Sky - - - - - - - - - - - - - - His dragon seems to have the ability to dodge at lightning speed, and the lock-on shots can be seen from a mile away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.8 Chapter 8 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Seals" Verse 1 - Things Inhuman - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hell on earth you might say. Or a reasonable facsimile. The beasts are abroad and you have to fight through their massive numbers to stop the seeds of resurrection from ending humanity. It's the usual masses of small enemies in groups, but there is one new guy to watch out for. It's a circle of five glowing skulls that will follow you around if you get near. This thing will attack by bumping into you as you fly, and the lock-on attacks take a while before they actually hit. Just shoot one or two locked shots and fly away to avoid detection. Continue battling the groups from a distance and use your locked shots to get rid of any tag-alongs. Also remember to save the magic attacks for the big groups above the skyscraper. Verse 2 - Living Myths - - - - - - - - - - - - The Wyrm may be big and ugly, but that should actually help you out. Don't bother with lock-on shots because they are too weak and the Wyrm never moves. The same goes with the wasps around Wyrm: don't bother. Use your unlocked shots to hit it at full force, but don't stay there. Start in from a distance and keep shooting at the Wyrm as you close in, then keep flying past and turn around. Continue the attack runs and you'll the see life bar wither away. When the Wyrm fires its dragonfire just dodge up or down, and avoid the blue magic shot by dodging with L1 or R1. When it goes into a ball you must shoot it and a bright ball will emerge. The Wyrm regains health in this state, so quickly lock-on and fire a few shots to get it back out into the open. It is actually pretty easy once you get the attacks going. Verse 3 - The Capital - - - - - - - - - - - Piece of cake. It's all the same enemies from before, in fact mostly statues. Just use your lock-on shots for the stationary enemies and draw out the quicker enemies (like wraiths) away from the group. Kill each one of those
separately and return to finish off the easy ones.
Verse 4 - Joy Unknown
- - - - - - - - - - -
Well, it sounds like it's almost over. Here you have to look for the four sets
of targets and kill them to get the keys to the altar. Well, it ain't as
easy as it sounds.
I'm assuming they increased the damage done by all enemies because any couple
of hits can now take you down to half health or less. The best thing to do is
RUN. Like your life depended on it, and it does.
Run through the first group of troops and into the first corridor on the left.
Don't bother with dragon because she can't fit through the corridors anyway.
Use your dash attack to knock down the ogres and keep going. Seriously, any
ogres you come across can kill you in a blink of an eye. Just run past them
when they're on the ground.
When you reach the targets make sure you have your best sword equipped... and
use lots of magic. The undead soldiers are no joke either so kill as many as
possible with magic attacks and then use long chain attacks. Don't give them
a chance to attack.
Run through to the end of the corridor (handling all ogres in the way), across
the square courtyard in the middle of the map, and into the corridor at the
other end. Run through any ogres in there and kill the targets to find the
next key.
Leave that corridor the way you came in and run up the center street until you
reach the next central courtyard. Run into the corridor
on the right to find the third set of targets and the key, then
run across the courtyard to find the last targets and last key.
Now normally I don't include strategies that involve allies, since some
people may not have them yet. But in this case I urge you to get Leonard, who
can be found in the extra verses in Chapter 2. His magic attack is very
powerful and can be shot at multiple enemies at a time. You'll need him to wipe
out all the magic troops that are gathered in the courtyard in front of the
temple. Keep blasting them with magic attacks until the whole courtyard is
cleared of all the magic troops. Kill those archers as well.
Once the courtyard has been cleared you can begin attacking the final targets
in front of the temple. Get near a group of them to draw them out, then kill
them. If you have two or more magic bars filled up you can go ahead and kill
them with magic attacks. Keep going through each group of targets until they
are all dead.
Grab the fifth key when it appears and approach the temple.
Verse 5 - A Peaceful Casket
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
After that war outside this first part should be a walk in the park. Kill all
the target troops at the start, then all of the undead target troops, then
more of those commander guys. Save up your magic and the commander guys should
go out quickly.
The next targets will be wizards surrounded by wraiths. The wraiths die easily
so you can kill them if you like, but never stop slashing at the wizards. They
have no defense and will just float there and let you kill them.
Keep on killin' as long as you must, and if you need health there is a chest
on the left side of Manah, near some seeds.
Verse 7 - Unrelenting
- - - - - - - - - - -
Manah will begin by creating bubbles around herself and launching some pink
shots at you. The best thing to do is fly away and up as she charges the
attack, then swoop down and turn towards her and the shots should fly by and
narrowly miss. Her weak spot will be her chest area, so immediately after she
launches her attack you go ahead and shoot her with unlocked shots. These
will cause much more damage than lock-on shots.
After hitting her for a while she will begin a new attack where purple
circles float around her horizontally. They cause massive damage, but it's
not difficult to get in between them near her chest and fire off a good five
shots. Keep returning to the edge and waiting for another opening to get in
those shots.
After some more damage the circles will begin to float around her at all
angles. This makes it difficult, but continue with a similar attack pattern.
Wait for an opening and start launching the shots from as far away as
possible, but NEVER go inside the circles. You will surely die if you try it.
If you have your magic shots charged go ahead and use them. Just wait for an
opening, much like the other attacks, and unleash the magic.
This method will take some patience, but it's the best way to beat her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.9 Chapter 9
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Requiem"
Verse 1 - Dragonfire
- - - - - - - - - - -
The sky is filled the Imperial dragons. Yea, the same Imperial dragons you
have been killing for the past couple of chapters. These guys are no different.
Keep your thumb on X to escape their trailing dragonfire and continue to hold
Square. Just fly through the group and continue to lock-on until each lifeless
dragon floats down to the city.
Verse 2 - In the Name of Love
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Follow the path that leads to Inuart and Furiae. There is only one path to
follow, and you can use the enemies on the radar to find your way through.
Verse 3 - Sowing Seeds
- - - - - - - - - - - -
His dragon seems to have the ability to dodge at lightning speed, and the
lock-on shots can be seen from a mile away. The best thing to do is keep your
thumb on the accelerator at all times and continue to the Square button so you
can launch the stronger non-locked shots.
The reasoning here is that if you stay VERY close to Inuart and accelerate you
can keep him in view for the unlocked shots. These will cause more damage and
will interrupt the dragon when it begins to charge the magic attack. You'll
see the health bar deplete quickly.
Continue with that attack pattern until your magic attack is charged and you
can really do some damage. Just wait until he is within view and release the
magic attack to take a big chunk out of his health bar.
Verse 5 - The Demon's Wings
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Oy, this chick's tough. She is quite a piece of work and won't be easy. That
is all.
Ok, I'll see if I can help. First of all get to know her attacks. The main
attacks are these flat energy blades that she will toss out horizontally and
vertically. You can avoid these with a simple L1 or R1 dodge, and when she's
circling you I suggest pressing X along with the dodge.
Her other, more powerful attack is a set of swords that will circle around
her, point at you, then release. These things are very destructive and can
kill you off before you even put a dent in her.
To strike back at her use unlocked shots at all times. When she's floating
still AND when she's circling around you. When she brings out the swords
immediately stop and use lock-on shots to get rid of all the swords. I mean
ALL of them, or you will be hit. You can also simply save up your magic
attacks and use them to get rid of the swords.
Verse V - Providence
- - - - - - - - - - -
Run forward and see what happens when you mess with a dragon.
Verse VI - Under a Dark Sky
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
To quote a famous alien lady, "THAT BITCH!!!" After all that, we have to
battle her!
Right, first off you should know her attacks. The first are these red
fireballs that she can launch across the room. The second attack is a stream
of fire that can only go about as far as her length. She will also fly from
one end of the room to the other.
Attacking her isn't that difficult, in fact the first 50% of her health can
be taken away pretty easily. Just approach dragon and begin slashing her
head. This will stop the fireball attacks AND the fire stream.
If you continue slashing you will soon see blue sparks appear, much like the
counterattacks of any big enemy so far. Press R1 or L1 to dodge this
counterattack, then return and continue slashing her big ugly face.
After she is at 50% she will continue to fly from one end of the room to the
other, but now some pink ground orbs will begin to move about in the room. As
soon as you see her stand up to fly away, start jumping to the other end of
the room. Don't run because that will increase the chance of a pink orb
hitting you. You can also slash the pink orbs, but it's a waste of time. Just
get to the other end quickly and continue slashing.
There is a health chest near the entrance to the hall, if you need it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.10 Chapter 10
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Astray"
Verse 1 - Barriers
- - - - - - - - - -
Start by killing off the dragons that attack you from the start, fly away some
distance and prepare for a long battle. This place has barrier towers all
around that keep the barrier powered up. You have to knock out those towers,
but they do fight back with small homing projectiles. Use your unlocked shots
and approach from far away to take it out quickly, and remember to dodge if
you need to. The boats scattered around are no big deal either. Just use more
unlocked shots.
When the dragons approach fly away from the fortress and kill the dragon out
away from the other enemies. This will save the trouble of dodging dragon
attacks and the other enemies at the same time.
Keep going until the fortress opens up, then kill off those others dragons
to finish.
Verse 2 - Ark
- - - - - - -
Bah, this is simple stuff. Use your lock-on shots to take out the balloons
and ships and L1 and R1 to dodge all enemy attacks.
Verse 3 - A Lull
- - - - - - - - -
RUN!!! The goddess needs you, so run your heroic ass through this replica of
the sky fortress until you reach the stairs to the second floor.
RUN SOME MORE!!! Head straight to the third floor steps, then to the target
at the end of the hall.
Verse 4 - To Drink Poison
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Run to the door at the end.
Verse II - Hear the Ocean
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Run through the rooms as quickly as you can, and don't waste too much time
killing troops. Get to the third floor and run to the target at the end.
Verse III - The Gods' Will
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Run to the door at the end.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.11 Chapter 11
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Partings"
Verse 1 - Maze
- - - - - - - -
We're off to find Furiae. Although there are hundreds of troops that will
try and stop you, you don't have to fight them. Check your map of the first
floor and you'll see an open path in the north-west corner. So head left and
make your way up there.
The next floor is a linear path that leads to the next floor. Just head right
from the start and keep going from room to room until you reach the next set
of stairs.
The third floor is a single room full of some big armored guys. Defeat them to
reveal the key that you need to get through the door ahead.
BUT, if you want to find Manah, go back to the stairs and return to the second
floor. Check your map and you should spot the big target symbol in a room to
the east. Get to that room to find Manah.
Verse 2 - Dreams and Truth
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Take the top paths to reach the inner sanctum of the priestess.
Verse II - Hide and Seek
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Here Manah will vanish when you approach her, each time getting closer and
closer to the small circular room at the other end of the path. Check your
map for that room and go straight to it, because all you have to do is get to
the room and Manah will be there.
You can fight the enemies if you wish, but don't lose too much health. Just
blow through the rooms.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.12 Chapter 12
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Chaos"
Verse 2 - Extermination
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Before you go thinking you have to kill EVERY grotesquerie, relax. You only
have to kill 50 of the ugly baby buggers. So, just use your lock-on shots and
hold X to accelerate as you fly through the group.
Don't forget about your magic attacks, which can kill about 10 of babies at
a time.
Verse 3 - Toward Truth
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Oy, more ugly babies, with a few undead soldiers thrown in the mix. The undead
soldiers are your targets, so dismount and kill each target as it appears.
The next few sets of targets will be grotesqueries, so if you have an ally
with you I suggest using him or her for a while. It's just easier.
And if you need a health chest, it is located next to the building in the
southern courtyard.
Verse 6 - Abnormal
- - - - - - - - - -
Check your map and run straight to that target at the end of the road. The
mission ends there.
Verse 9 - Awakening
- - - - - - - - - -
No fighting here, just fly! Keep your thumb on X and speed through the babies
while using L1 and R1, as well as flying up and down. You also want to shoot
your blasts ahead and take out any babies that are in the way to get rid of
the shots they would fire.
From there it's all up to your mad flying skills. Do as much dodging as
possible and keep killing the grotesqueries that are in the way. The mission
will end once you reach the target.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.13 Chapter 13
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Truth"
Verse 3 - The Greatest Battle
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The queen-mother-baby is releasing those circles of song, and you must release
your own song circles to counter hers.
You'll notice that she starts with white circles. Press Square and you will
also release white circles, which you must do to counter hers. Then, she will
release her black circles, and you must reciprocate by pressing Tri. for your
black circles.
Now it may seem simple at first, but as time goes on she will begin to
release the circles very quickly and in some crazy patterns. The best thing
to do is watch her mouth and press your patterns to match hers. Press Square
when you see white over her mouth, and press Tri. when you see black over her
mouth. Don't mess up too much because countering with the wrong color will
delay you for a few seconds.
It's won't be too difficult until you reach the 35 second mark. That is when
she will release a LONG stream of circles that you must counter to defeat her.
I found it easiest to watch for about nine circles to come out and press Start
to pause. Then, memorize the pattern. I found it easy to repeat B (for black)
and Y (for white) in my mind until it was memorized, then press Start again
when the next eight or nine circles come out. Pausing the game is really the
best way to do it, unless you have a fantastic memory and a fast eye.
So after that last insane pattern she will release one or two more, but
nothing hard. The mission ends when the timer hits zero.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.14 Leonard's Regret
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Verse 1 - The Forest of the Seal
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Well then, an army of gryphons. Difficult? Nah.
If you have faced gryphons (and bats, and Imperial dragons) before, then
you'll have no problem. If not let me give you some tips. Use your lock-on
shots from far away and begin firing as soon as you get within range. The bats
and gryphons will often die before you even reach their position. The dragons
are a bit more tenacious and will even dodge some shots, but it shouldn't be a
problem.
You can easily avoid all attacks by tapping the good ol' L1 and R1 buttons.
Verse 2 - Smells
- - - - - - - - -
Run to the end of the path.
Verse 3 - Grief
- - - - - - - -
Here you have to murder a bunch of children. Seriously! Get out your sword
and chop these kids up, will ya?!
Hey, that's the mission. Take out each set of targets and more will appear,
until eventually they're all dead.
Verse 4 - Uncommon Mercy
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Nothing complicated here. Just kill all the wraiths.
Verse 5 - The Memories of the Faeries
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If you've fought one sky battle you've fought them all. Destroy everything in
sight and save your magic attacks for the airships.
Verse 6 - Gleanings
- - - - - - - - - -
The targets here are located at the western end of the map, so get movin'!
Kill the troops along the way, if you wish.
The horseback troops at the end are no big deal. Keep slashing at them, and
remember to press L1 or R1 to dodge when they flash blue for the
counterattack.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.15 Arioch's Madness
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Verse 1 - The Soughing of the Waves
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Oy, more sky battling. But this time there will be some boats (and their many
cannons) to contend with. Approach the boats from afar and use your unlocked
shots for the most damage. Tap L1 and R1 to dodge their cannon balls.
Kill of the balloons as easily as always, and remember to use the lock-on
shots for the dragons. The battle will be fairly short anyway.
Verse 3 - Lantern Fishing
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
There will be a lot more ships in this battle. Remember to attack from far
away and use L1 and R1 often to avoid any cannon balls.
The skulls at the end can be killed easily by locking on from far away and
avoiding any close contact.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.16 Seere's Prayer
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Verse 2 - Remote Giants
- - - - - - - - - - - -
There are four golems located within the valley, but each golem has its own
group of wizards to revive it. There is one wizard with a blue cloak that you
must kill to defeat the golem, so take them out first. Remember to use L2 to
block the magic attacks from wizards, and avoid the golem arms!
Verse 3 - Tossed About
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Bah, a simple sky battle! Use your locked shots to kill off those cubes, much
like before. The same applies to the gargoyles flying around.
Verse 5 - Journey
- - - - - - - - -
Simple stuff. Kill all the wizards, and you may have to also kill goblins that
surround them. Keep killing, then kill the wizards that appear after the main
group is gone.
Verse 6 - A Silent Place
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Kill 'em all, baby! Kill 'em all...
Verse 7 - Gone Without a Trace
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Kill 'em all some more. Just use lock-on shots for the small fries, then kill
the wraiths by shooting them after they release their scythes.
Verse 8 - Pursuit
- - - - - - - - -
You only have to kill the two guards at the gate, then collect the key and
enter. There is a health chest inside the gate if you need it.
Verse 10 - Coliseum
- - - - - - - - - -
You know what to do. Make them all feel the slice of your blade until no one
remains. There is a health chest inside the tunnel at the end of the coliseum.

6.0 ALLIES ==================================================================
Arioch
- - - -
Arioch is the mad elf who will join your party at the end of Chapter 3. Her
pact with the spirits of water and fire keep her alive to continue her
cold-hearted killings.
Weapons: Sorrow's Splinter
-Her sword has pretty good reach, but it is slow. It works well when fighting
one-on-one.
Magic: Spirit's Hood
-If you hold Square it can cause some pretty major damage, though only to the
enemies in front of her.
Leonard
- - - -
Leonard is a man in search of forgiveness for the death of his family and
village. His pact with a mischievous faerie allowed him the chance to live
and redeem himself. He will join Caim after Chapter 2, verse XIV.
Weapon: Tower of Rebuke
-Leonard's weapon has pretty good reach, though it doesn't seem as strong as
the sword weapons. The long reach can help a lot in big groups.
Magic: Faerie's Wings
-This thing is kick-ass. That's the only way to put it, really. Hold Tri. to
charge it up and release for a barrage of magic attacks that home in on all
enemies in the area.
Seere
- - - -
Seere's family was killed by an attack from the Empire, and his sister
kidnaped. He came across a Golem of stone that would have him as a
pact-partner in exchange for his time. Seere joins the party after Chapter 4,
verse XII.
Weapon: Hero's Misericorde
-His little knife is excellent for chain attacks, but not very strong. I
wouldn't choose Seere if you need someone with strength.
Magic: Golem Fist
-His pact-partner's arms will suddenly fly in and crush any enemies around
Seere. The charged attack is a massive destruction tool.

8.0 CODES & SECRETS =========================================================
F155 Fighter Jet
- - - - - - - - -
You get it from the Free Expedition after Chapter 13. You face 5 of the
fighter jets, and these things are FAST! One tactic is to follow one until it
turns around for a fly-by. Here you can either, after multi-targeting it while
you followed it, shoot or try a dragonfire on it, if you think your aim and
timing are good.
After you beat this Free Expedition you can use the jet in free expeditions.
That Guy With the Timer
- - - - - - - - - - - -
Every once in a while you'll run into a guard that appears from the ground and
seems unbeatable. Though it is tough, he is quite mortal.
You must use magic attacks when he is red, and physical attacks when he is
blue. If you defeat him you will get an orb that gives you a certain number of
kills based on your highest chain attack against the guard. Pretty nifty, no?
