Conclusion ______________________________________________________________________ I. INTRODUCTION ______________________________________________________________________ A. Author's Note ---------------- I am playing this game, and I found myself have experienced it. I decided to write a huge guide that covers everything in the game and while I am making the guide, I decided to write a short guide for this cute mini-game that is strange and odd. I played all Gran Turismo games and I have them all. The only exception is Geneva, as I do not have it, and I do not want to have a game like this. Anyway, if you want to ask me anything about the game, tell me comments or corrections, or if you want to contribute, please contact me with pink_heat@hotmail.com. By the way, this is my third guide. ______________________________________________________________________ B. Game's Information --------------------- Gran Turismo Concept: 2001 Tokyo is a PlayStation2 racing game. You can say about the game is that it is an extra Gran Turismo game made for those who are crazy when they hear a new Gran Turismo game has been released. In other words, it is not Gran Turismo 4 or something, and it is not the Japanese version of Gran Turismo Concept: 2002 Tokyo-Geneva. This Japanese game has been released in 1/1/2002 (the first day of the year 2002) in Japan by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Polyphony Digital developed the game, the company that made all Gran Turismo games, and only them (the only other game made by Polyphony Digital is Omega Boost if you want to know). Mainly, only two players can play the game, but that can be increased I think by using i-Link Cable. Anyway, I highly recommend that you buy a Steering Controller and play using it once you have it. One last thing, this game is not going to be released in America or Europe as I mentioned before. Now I would like to talk about the Gran Turismo series history, the game began on the PlayStation (One) when Sony Computer Entertainment released the first part, Gran Turismo with more than 100 cars. After the great success of that part, they made it again, Gran Turismo 2, but now with two CD-ROMs! The first one was the Arcade mode, and the second was the Gran Turismo mode (Simulation mode). In fact, the most cars appeared in a Gran Turismo game were in that part, a huge number of cars (over 600), yet the worst in the graphics. The first and INCREDIBLE Gran Turismo game on the PlayStation2 was Gran Turismo 3 A-spec, it is the best Gran Turismo game for now, and it is one of the best games. It contains over 100 cars again, but the best graphics (I heard that the developers spent a week creating each car!) of a Gran Turismo game. After that two Concept games have been released and they are: Gran Turismo Concept: 2001 Tokyo (this guide is for this game of course), and Gran Turismo Concept: 2002 Tokyo-Geneva. The most frequent question in the game's message board is about the difference(s) between these two Gran Turismo Concept games. I will say the answer now, so listen up! Both games are the same, both of them have the same modes and everything. The only exception is that the cars are not only Japanese, there are American, European, and Australian cars (to name some, Ka, Focus, Corvette, Golf, Lupo, Clio, Elise, Vanquish, Tuscan, Viper, Zonda, GT40, 206, TT, Falcon, and many, many more). Anyway, I want to say again that both games are not the fourth Gran Turismo, as it will be released in an unknown date yet... At last, I read a question in GameFAQs message boards about if the sender should buy this game or wait until Gran Turismo 4, I want to say that waiting for Gran Turismo 4 is MUCH better than buying this game (or Geneva). If you will tell me about the GT Advance series, then I'm going to answer you that that game is not from the Gran Turismo series. A company called THQ (famous for its WWE games) is releasing the GT Advance series (only on the GameBoy Advance). If you are interested to know them, they are: GT Advance Championship Racing, GT Advance 2: Rally Racing, and GT Advance 3: Pro Concept Racing. Also, a cool feature is in this part that relates with the previous ones; you can get 1,000,000,000 in Gran Turismo 3 A-spec when you beat everything in the game! That means, you can pre-order 10 Escudo's even before putting Gran Turismo 3 A-spec in the driver! ^_^ Yeah, but the bad news is that only the Japanese version of Gran Turismo 3 A-spec can accept this. That means, if you got the money but they do not work in your version, you must say nothing... Other than: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... >_< ______________________________________________________________________ C. To unlock pod Race, beat all the courses in Course License. To play it, go to Game Status, and choose the first (from right) gift. ______________________________________________________________________ A. Tips ------- Tip #1: ------- Drive and be on the first place. How? You don't have to push the brakes sometimes, just don't hold the accelerate. Tip #2: ------- When you do anything, such as clashing with other cars or wall, pressing brakes, etc., you will hear a sound from pod. Useless tip. Tip #3: ------- When playing against other cars, and when you aren't in the first rank, once s/he stop in the red ground, clash with him/her. S/he won't be able to stop in the ground so s/he has to press reverse. And you win! ______________________________________________________________________ B. How to Play -------------- Race normally, and near the end of the lap, you will notice some red colour on the road. Once you are on it, a Japanese text will appear, and therefore, you have to push the brakes until you stop. Once the car stops, press the handbrake O button. Now go and win. When someone do tip #3 on you, quickly press the reverse /\ button if there is a chance to win. ______________________________________________________________________ C. How to Win ------------- If you do the rules, you'll win. Try tip #3 when playing against a human. Also, be fast doing the rules. If someone do tip #3 on you, you may lose. ______________________________________________________________________ D. Loss ------- If you haven't applied the rules, you will end up in the 6th place! As they won't accept the whole lap for you. Also, if you are too slow, you won't win. If other players do tip #3 on you, you may not win. ______________________________________________________________________ E. pod Race Map --------------- I just want to add this map to this mini-guide. Here it is: ___ / \ / | \ / | \ | | S Start/Finish | | | | |=| Red Place (Where You Have to Stop) | S | | | | | |=| | |=| | |=| | | | / / | | \ | | | | \____/ ______________________________________________________________________ F. Moods of pod --------------- Lights are flashing, sounds can be heard, and tails are swinging... What's going on with the cars of tommorow? Or is it today? Who cares. Now, pod does much things that are strange. Here's a list of the colors of lights that it brights while you drive it: 1. When it is happy, a red light will bright in front and in back of pod. 2. When it is sad, a blue light will bright in front and in back of pod. 3. When it is angry, an orange light will bright in front and in back of pod. ______________________________________________________________________ III.
