VICTORIOUS BOXERS Character Ratings. v. 1.0 5/16/03 9:30 pm Table Of Contents. 1. Prologue, Reason for the FAQ. 2. Rating System Explanation. 3. Fighter’s 4. Conclusion and Contact Info. 5. Legal Stuff ----------------------------------------------------- 1. Prologue- I decided to put together a FAQ for the Character’s of Victorious Boxers for two reasons. The first reason being the game has so many different fighter’s and each of the fighters have varying strengths and weaknesses. The game itself is the closest interpretation of a boxing simulation that I have ever seen. Although the game itself lacks in a couple of areas, you will be hard pressed to find anything that comes even remotely close to the aspects of real boxing. Such as angle of punches, stamina usage, ring generalship, and the countering system is top notch. There is also no clinching system involved in the game which you actually start not to miss all that much after playing the game. The control system is hard to master at first, but once you get the hang of it you will appreciate the how simple and easy the control scheme is. The second reason I put together a FAQ for Victorious Boxers is because no one else has, and also because I can. So let's quit with the talking and get onto the info portion of the page because I am pretty sure eveyone skips the beginning of a FAQ anyways. I am even surprised if you took the time to read down this far into the Prologue. ------------------------------- 2. Rating System Explanation. Just to let eveyone know how I came up with the rating system for which you are about to read, I just want to first let everyone who reads this FAQ to know that I did NOT use a control scheme that had movement set for EXPERT and SWAY assigned to L1 or any other button. In my own personal opinion that setup sucks and it kills your stamina when your fighter dashes everywhere he moves. But also for the fact that most people who get the game or are currently playing the game will use the default setup. However I also understand that there are people who play the game using the above mentioned setup. Nothing personal against any of you and my comments are not an attack on your person, I just think that control scheme is a waste of time and really hampers your fighters abilities when you use that scheme. But if you use the scheme just take away from the stamina rankings I put up by 1.5. I used the control scheme for all the fighters to make this FAQ as well informed as I could, and found that all of the fighters would tire by that margin. Now for an explanation of the area's I am rating as well as the fighter used to rate them all. The fighter being used to rate everyone is one from each category. For the Featherweight division, I have chosen Ponchai Chuwatana. He is basically the most well rounded fighter in that division. For the Lightweight division, I have chosen Snake Thomas. Again he is the most well rounded fighter in that division. For the Jr. Lightweights, I have chosen Porn Morocotte for the same reason I chose eveyone else. For the middleweights, I have chosen Morris West. For the ratings I have used a 12 round fight, no 3 knockdown rule in effect and the fights took place in VS mode. Two fights were done per person, per division. However the only fighter I was hesitant about was Bear. He is the absolute most arcade like thing in this game, but some people I know actually enjoy using him so I decided to include him in the rating system. Also I have not scored the two versions of Ippo and Takamura those being first fight Ippo or sparring Ippo as well as overtrained or Red Takamura. I have also decided to not include special punch ratings in this because not all fighters have a special punch. Below is an explanation of the area's being scored and how the ratings will be achieved. All ratings use a 10 point system with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. -- Power- Power is being judged by how quickly a fighter can KO his opponent and the overall damage done punch by punch. -- Chin- Chin is being judged by how well a fighter can recieve a punch as well as how quickly they can be knocked down and knocked out. --Heart- Heart is being judged by how likely a fighter is going to get up from a knockdown. -- Stamina- Stamina is being judged by how quickly a fighter tires and slows down, with each fighter throwing a minimum of 75 punches per round. -- Speed- Speed is being judged by how quickly a fighter moves on his feet. -- Hand Speed- Hand Speed is being judged by how quickly a fighter throws any punch. -- Overall Score- Is a total combination of all the ratings for that particular fighter. ------------------------------- 4. Conclusion and Contact Info Not everyone is gonna agree with the rating system I have just put up. Everyone will have a bias towards their favorite fighter. But look at it this way, if you are comfortable with a particular fighter and you have mastered what they can do in the ring, then congratulations to you. I have a bias towards Takuma Saeki. I would have given him all 10's if could have. But that is not gonna happen because I realize not eveyone is gonna be able to use him like I do in the ring. These ratings are nothing more than personal opinions based on hours and hours of fighting and match making. If you don't like it, then to bad. Make your own FAQ or don't bother reading this one. If you have any questions comments or such, disagree with my ratings of the characters, or just want to harass me....hahaha...you can email me at digital.enigma@excite.com or you can find me on ICQ at 82694734 if you want. ---------------------------- 5. Legal Stuff I am not a lawyer, however time and effort went into making this FAQ so if you want to use it, or post it on a site, use common sense and email me before doing so.It takes a whole whopping one minute to do that ( depending on the speed of your isp and or computer system ) and it would be apprecitated if you did. Other than that, this is FAQ is only gonna be up on Gamefaqs.com. ©2003 Jessie Ramirez a.k.a. Digital Enigma
