Special Thanks ******************************************************************************** A. RULES ******************************************************************************** ---------------------------------- From the game: This is a game of cards. The deck has been shuffled already. The purpose of the game is to win as much money as possible. Here's how it works: - I will deal you two cards face up, and a third one face down. - After showing you the first two cards and forecasting the betting odds, I'll ask you to place a bet (from zero to one hundred dollars). - I'll then turn the third card over. If the card is INSIDE the other cards then you win the bet. If the card is OUTSIDE, then you lose the bet. (The card is INSIDE if the face value is strictly between the face value of the other cards). ---------------------------------- For more detail, type 'y' for demonstration. Type 'y' for the question: 'Can I play along with you?' to enable the CPU to play together with you. You can compare your earning with CPU for nothing. There are four choices of CPU: 1. Conservative. Betting only on sure things. CPU will only bet big if it thinks that it can win. 2. Liberal. I see it's different with what the game says. It's almost the same with number 3: Normal. 3. Normal. The CPU plays normally. Bet big if it thinks that it can win. Bet small/none if otherwise. 4. Random. The CPU bets randomly. The Random scheme is the easiest to "beat". The second easiest would have been 'liberal' if it always bet small. You could see that the chance of the third card is 'inside' is lower than 'outside', so you'd think that Conservative CPU is the most difficult to'beat'. But I dunno why, as far as I can see, Normal CPU can make money faster than Conservative CPU. You can place the lowest bet $0 until the highest bet $100 each time the card is dealt. Your bankroll can be lower than zero, and the game will not end. I don't think the game will end no matter how much your money is. ******************************************************************************** B. GENERAL TIPS ******************************************************************************** You may have to calculate the possibility of winning each time the card is dealt. The more the winning possibility, the bigger the bet. I'd say you should play like Normal CPU rather than Conservative CPU to earn more money (Choose the CPU to play along with you to see how CPU plays). The game will say some winning odds. You should trust your own calculation rather than this winning odds, except if it says 1 to 1 (win) or 9999 to 1 (lose)... ******************************************************************************** C.
