Welcome!
This is a guide for Dragon Knight 4, specifically the Windows
version that was released on June 29, 2007.
This guide attempts to show you where to find every item, searchable
object, missable CG, and each of the 21 H-Scenes the game has!
Unfortunately, this guide doesn't cover information about character
stats, battle strategy, and the like. Nor does it cover translation
of the main story itself. Although, strangely enough, I have (tried
to at least) translated every single question and possible answer I
have came across, and tried to translate reactions to choices you
make.
This guide is more or less, a guide for the perfectionist who doesn't
want to miss anything, not necessarily for the regular gamer.
{findI02} Encoding
Dragon Knight 4 is a Japanese game, and as such, this guide
features Japanese characters encoded throughout.
In my opinion, this document is best viewed in the Shift_JIS
character encoding. If you see a bunch of weird "f"s throughout this
guide, you definitely need to switch to a Japanese-enabled encoding!
{findI03} Synopsis
Dragon Knight 4 is a game that was originally released some 13 years
ago. It's been released on so many systems, and yet strangely
enough, has yet to be released as an English-language version. The
third game in the series was the only one released in English by the
now-no-longer-operational Megatech. The Windows version is extremely
faithful to the original version on the PC-9801 Japanese Computer
system, except that the difficulty level seems a little easier.
The story of Dragon Knight 4 centers around a child named Kakeru.
His father, Takeru, was the protagonist of the past three Dragon
Knight games. His mother, Luna, also played a part in Dragon Knight
I and Dragon Knight III (Dragon Knight II is more or less, the "odd
ball" of the series, and she was not featured in it.) When a letter
arrives from Baan (who was Takeru's companion in some of the past
games), Takeru sends a (now) 15 year-old Kakeru off to go to him and
the adventure begins!
PS: Hold down the Ctrl (Control) key on your keyboard to
fast-forward events and battles if you want to move through the
game quickly!

When you talk to Samson he asks if you want to hear about some
information. The information is about there being various seeds
hidden throughout the towns and villages of the world.

First, talk to Haidon in the southwest part of town. Next, go
northeast to the wooden roof structure that's attached to a House
and talk to Haidon under there. He will tell you to choose your
favorite thing and you can choose from a laundry list of items. The
first four are things he won't be able to give you, but you can
choose them anyway one by one until you get to the fifth option, the
力の種 Strength Seed, which he can give you.

After talking to Baan you can finally enter Marian's House in the
northeast part of town. Talk to her and choose 1. If you choose 2
you miss the HScene.

You can save the game or load your previous games by searching the
Save Crystals found in towns. In Sonia, the Save Crystal is by the

[Trivia] 「トルヘスっ！！」 "It's Toruhesu!"
Kakeru calls Toruhesu ヘルペスさん Herupesu, but he does not like
being called that. Herupesu means herpes in Japanese. The last
three syllables of both words sound similar.

Exit the House you are brought in and go to the eastern exit again
and choose はい Yes to go east.

Make sure you haven't yet picked Cultus. Enter the middle
Storehouse to find Nereid. When she asks you to untie the rope,
choose 1. She will then be available to join you from Toruhesu. If
you choose 2 you can enter the Storehouse again and help her still.

Starting with this town, and in many thereafter, you may have a new
member join your group out of two people. Select the person's
portrait that you want to have join you and then choose 1 to have
them join you or 2 to continue to decide. A tip: If you are
concerned about missing potential CGs or HScenes pick the female
characters over the male ones,

If you talk to Eto before talking to Marlene while she's in bed the
game will ask you if you will hear about what Eto's conversation
with Natasha last night. If you choose 1 Kakeru asks Eto about it
but he says it's better to rest instead so you don't get to hear it.

After Marlene has recovered Aand joins your group talk to her at the
Water Well in the northwest enclosed area of the village. The game
asks you if you want to kiss Marlene. You may choose either 1 or 2
to get the HScene: Kissing her isn't a requirement.

At the end of the HScene, in Clickless Mode, you can either:

If you talk to Merchant Haanesu, who is standing next to Kapone's
House, he will ask if you want to hear about something. This is
about a special tip, be sure not to miss it! He says that in the
Village of Trianon there are 24 seeds you can get, not counting the
ones your normally find in Barrels and other objects. In Trianon,
there is a large rock. To the right of this rock is a tree. Walk
back and forth between the rock and the tree about ten times.
Afterwards you will be rewarded with x 3 of each of the eight seeds
in the game! You may be wondering how you can go back to Trianon
now. For now, just keep this tip in memory...you will have an
opportunity to use this information later in the game.

it. Choosing either 1 or 2, Kakeru eventually says Nereid is very
cute and Eto's the weird one, not her.

If you talk to Helene in the Storehouse she says she wants you to
let her older sister Lear join you. However, when you tell Lear what
Helene said, she says she doesn't want to fight anymore plus she's
worried about leaving her younger sister behind by herself. When
Kakeru says he'll bring Helene with them, Lear says her younger sister
is just an ordinary child and she doesn't want to see her get into
any danger. So Lear won't be joining for that reason...

If you talk to Merchant Henderu, in the southeast part
of the city, he will offer to sell you a 元気が出る薬 Potion.
If you choose 1 then you find out Kakeru doesn't have enough money to
purchase the potion. If you choose 2 you can talk to him again to
offer to sell it to you again.

After bumping into Tanyan near the eastern exit of the city, go into
the nearby House and talk to her in the western part of the room.
The game will ask you if you want to search her body. If you choose
1 you get the HScene but if you choose 2 you won't get it. She will
be available to join you from Toruhesu afterwards regardless of your
decision.

Inside the House to the right of the Training School. Approach the
left bed.

If you see what Eto and Sayla are doing and then talk to Natasha
you can try and rat on Eto to Natasha. If you choose 1 Kakeru begins
to say what's going on but Natasha interrupts him and says she
doesn't want to hear anything coming out of his mouth. If you say
the second choice, she calls Kakeru weird.
Q［ナターシャ］なあにカケル……深刻な顔をしてるわね。

If you keep talking to Natasha, she will eventually ask Kakeru if
he is in love with any girl. Kakeru says of course, then Natasha
asks who is she? Kakeru first wants to know who Natasha is in love
with and she says it's Kakeru. Kakeru know's she's lying
because he knows she likes Eto the most. She then says now I said
who mine is, so say yours too. If you choose 1 she says if that's
the case, then it's not good to keep going to Marlene all the time.
If you choose 2 she says Oh, I see. Choose 3 and Natasha pressures
you to say who the girl is, but Kakeru says well that's why I said
it's some other girl.

When you talk to Rosalind she says Sail's been cold hearted to her.
She says to Sail It's just as I thought, you don't like me and Sail
must answer. If you choose 1, Sail tells Rosalind he does not like
her and she asks him to repeat what he just said. Sail says he likes
Marlene, not her. Rosalind says she doesn't want to talk to him
anymore and tells him to get away from her. If you choose 2, Sail
tells Rosalind he doesn't dislike her. Rosalind then says if you
don't dislike me, then you like me? Sail says Ye..yeah. This
decision makes a drastic difference in the long run in regards to
Sail's relationship with Rosalind and in viewing later possible CG
Scenes and HScenes. If you answer 1 you will miss an HScene and
Rosalind will also leave you later. If you choose 2 you will miss
2 CGs、so either way, you will miss something down the road.

will get the HScene. If you choose 2 at any point you will not.

During Kakeru's conversation with Marlene, she asks him if he
wants to hold her. If you choose 1, you will go to the HScene
while 2 doesn't lead you to it.

2 → いいや、抱きたくない No, I don't want to hold you
After you are finished with the HScene Marlene tells Kakeru he
is probably going to think of her now as some dirty girl. In both
1 and 2 Marlene eventually thanks Kakeru and calls him a kind
hearted person.

Dragon's Fort. Go inside the northeast House and approach the bed.
You can have Kakeru interrupt the two. There is little difference
Bbetween doing so.

You can approach them again. If you choose 1 Linus finally leaves

After you get the Natasha HScene, talk to Pandora and she will
say she saw what naughty things you were doing to Natasha. If you

mood and you don't.

If you look in your Dragon Knight 4 disc, you may notice a folder
called おまけ Extra. Inside the folder you will see a file called
mes.arc. In your DragonKnight4 game directory installed on your
computer you will also notice a mes.arc file. Replace the one in the
DragonKnight4 directory with the one in the おまけ Extra folder and
you will have the option of skipping all of all the Stages from this
point forward, including the last battle! If you don't have the
おまけ Extra folder's mes.arc applied, you don't get to see the option
before battle starts. Note that from this point forward all members'
levels will reset back to as if you were playing the game again
for the first time.

1 Eto will help Nereid and she will be available from Toruhesu. If
you choose 2, Eto won't help Nereid and you can re-enter the
Storehouse to choose again. After having Kakeru or Eto help Nereid,
she will be available to join you from Toruhesu.

Go north straight from the entrance of town. The game asks if you'll
peek at Nereid doing her business. If you choose 1 you see the CG.
If you choose 2 you don't see the CG. Either way, you can go to her
again and see the CG again automatically. You can do this both
before or after Kakeru normally peeks at Nereid after you talk to
him near the eastern exit.

Before deciding on her to join you, go see her in the northeast part
of the town and talk to her. She eventually asks you what kind of
person you are and the game asks if you will lie to her. Neptune's
response is different depending on what you answer but when you talk
to her again the second time, she says the same thing, asking who you
are.

24 Seeds → If you talked to ハーネス (Merchant Haanesu) in
the Port City of Sheborz earlier in the game,
you may recall what he said. This was about a
special tip in Trianon! He said that in the
Village of Trianon there are 24 seeds you can
get, not counting the ones your normally find
in Barrels and other objects. In Trianon,
there is a large rock. To the right of this
rock is a tree. Walk back and forth between
the rock and the tree about ten times.
Afterwards you will be rewarded with x 3 of
each of the eight seeds in the game!

Choose the right password and, next, go back to the Poseidon Statue

Upon arriving at Dragon's Fort the game asks if you will skip up
until Sail becomes a Dragon Knight. If you choose 1 you skip to
night time after Sail has become a Dragon Knight. The only thing
worth noting about skipping is that Sail's answer to Rosalind is
That's not true when confronted about if he dislikes her. Even if
you had him say he dislikes her the previous timeD--the game won't
take that into account. If you choose 2 you get to play Sail's part
during the day as normal.

Some of the White Dragons aren't accessible to talk to until night.
The southwestern and eastern-most Dragon's Nest Hole aren't
accessible to enter until night as well.

When you talk to Rosalind she says Sail's been cold hearted to her.
She says to Sail It's just as I thought, you don't like me and Sail
must answer. If you choose 1, Sail tells Rosalind he does not like
her and she asks him to repeat what he just said. Sail says he likes
Marlene, not her. Rosalind says she doesn't want to talk to him
anymore and tells him to get away from her. If you choose 2, Sail
tells Rosalind he doesn't dislike her. Rosalind then says if you
don't dislike me, then you like me? Sail says Ye..yeah. This
decision makes a drastic difference in the long run in regards to
Sail's relationship with Rosalind and in viewing later possible CG
Scenes and HScenes. If you answer 1 you will miss an HScene and
Rosalind will also leave you later. If you choose 2 you will miss
2 CGs、so either way, you will miss something down the road.

conversation. If you choose 2 you prolong the conversation, but get
the HScene sooner.

If you prolonged the conversation, later on, Eto is thinking to

{findC03} Challenge Mode Notes (Temporary)
Here are some random notes about the Omake Mode's Challenge Mode.
It'd probably be better-suited for a separate in-depth guide to cover
this so please just consider this nothing but just my own notes about
the Challenge Mode that I found worth mentioning.
1 You get access to the Challenge Mode after you beat the game. I
can tell you with certainty that it's available to you even if you
beat Easy Mode so I'm assuming beating any of the three modes--
Easy, Normal, and Hard--will give it to you.
2 After you complete Challenge Mode any missing CG and H-Scenes get
obtained and you get access to the おまけ壁紙のインストール Omake
Wallpaper Install. You click on it and you can choose a folder on
your computer to install the Wallpaper CGs to. You get five CGs--
Natasha, Marlene, Pandora, Rosalind, and Helene--in a set of 15
BMP files, with each illustration offered in three different
resolutions: 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024.
3 The Challenge Mode is a set of 16 Stages, which seem to take after
the last 16 Stages of the normal game. The Items, Treasure Boxes,
and enemies are completely different. There is no storyline in
this mode--it's just battles. You fight one battle after the other
and you begin with Kakeru, Eto, Sail, and Loydon. Other characters
join you when they normally do after finishing a battle.
4 I noticed you don't have to keep Lear alive for her to join you in
the Stage that she appears in. There's no need to worry about
keeping her alive in Challenge Mode before she joins you.
5 When I played, I noticed Eto was my main tank--not by choice--due
to his innate Protection Skill, so I tried to give him all the
Defense and Life Seeds I could. I wish i gave him the D Shift
Skill for this reason, which adds to your defense even moreso.
6 Silence is a great spell to use on buffed-up enemies that are
clustered together with someone in there with the Protection Skill
that is minimizing your damage. Silence is a very useful spell in
my opinion, even if it doesn't do any damage; and it lasts for
more than one turn too, unlike say Shock.
7 Another useful spell I found was Distortion. It's a buff but
whenever someone has it they take very little damage, even if their
defense is normally weak. I would get this to LV 2 max and give it
to one of your buffers. The three buffs I went through the entire
Challenge mostly consisted of Distortion, Attack, and Defense, and
some other miscellaneous ones such as Sword Dance.
8 The strategy I used--not necessarily the best or the one I am
saying you should use--is to have a set of four-six physical
attackers and four-six buffers who support the physical attacks
while staying slightly behind them. Obviously the buffers also
attacked with attack spells too, but their primary goal was to buff
everyone. The Challenge Mode gives you enough turns to play it
safe so you can do this and go together as a group.
9 I estimate that nearly 2/3 of the Treasure Boxes are Mimics.
