It probably took me 20-30 hours to finish, but that did include playing through each of the missions as I wrote the guide for them. I've also spellchecked it and corrected all of the typo's (which weren't too bad considering there's a good 28,000 words in this guide), so it should be pretty useful for anyone who's stuck. I think I need a break from writing now, so I'll go and play through single player for the third time without needing to pause every few seconds to write more of the guide. I hope the guide is useful for everyone. It's definitely the most work I've ever put into my video game walkthroughs. Each mission walkthrough has an evrage of about 900 words, which is pretty incredible compared to the 300 or so my CoD1 missions had. Anyway, enough chatter, hope you find the guide useful, and dont forget to email me with any tips, questions or errors you've found. October 13, 2005 1652 hrs Version 0.1   Added all mission names and details, as well as the mission walkthrough for "El Daba" based on the demo walkthrough I wrote previously. All details about the missions were found left in the data files on the CoD2 Demo!   =============================================================================== A U T H O R S   C O M M E N T S ===============================================================================   Welcome to my guide for Call Of Duty 2. You may or may not know that I have written full walkthroughs for all Call Of Duty PC games released so far, and I have decided to continue with this guide. The Call Of Duty series is my most played gaming franchise ever. I've been playing Call Of Duty, and United Offensive for pretty much two straight years because of the great replay value available with multiplayer, but also the very fun single player missions. I like to think I'm good at the game, so I try my best to help other people out too with my single player walkthroughs, and hopefully this will be as useful as I know my previous guides have been. Feel free to check out my clans website at http://www.GunningForGlory.com where you'll find all sorts of cool stuff like other guides, modifications, screenshots, downloads, and of course a fun, active clan. You can post on the forums if you need any help with anything and someone will be sure to give you some advice. Other than that, just enjoy the guide and contact me if you need any help, have any advice or want to correct an error. You MUST email me asking for permission if you wish to host this guide, and if you are granted permission, you MUST ensure your site is displaying the most updated version at all times. I will NOT send out updates to every site that wishes to host my guides, so the latest version will always be found at GunningForGlory.com or GameFAQs.com. If you are not going to keep the guide up to date, don't bother asking to host it, as I'll be making a lot of updates. There are a few new features in CoD2 which you'll probably need to be made aware of, they are listed below. The game functions in almost the exact same way as the original Call Of Duty, so if you've played that, you won't have any trouble getting used to this one.   • New Health System Call Of Duty 2 doesn't keep the health system from the original games. Instead of having a set value of health which you will lose or replenish with health packs, this time you have no indication of your current health. This may seem strange at first, however once you get used to it, it's really quite simple. To put it in it's most basic form, you have "infinite health". You won't die by getting shot multiple times, even without picking up health packs. Instead, you die from taking a lot of damage in a small amount of time. When you get hit hard, an indicator will appear on the screen, and you'll feel your heart rate increasing and so on. During this time you need to find some cover and rest. Stay safe for about five seconds or so and you'll regain your health and be good to go. Because of this, you could take hundreds of hits throughout missions, but if you stay in cover and heal yourself enough, you can make it through without dying. Not really the most realistic feature that could have been added, but it certainly changes the way you need to play the game. Running and gunning will usually easily get you killed. You need to go slowly.   • Mantle System CoD2 gives you the option to jump over / onto small obstacles in front of you in a sort of scripted event. Sometimes you can't jump high enough, or the game just won't let you jump over certain things, but if you stand next to an object and you see a small curved arrow symbol type thing, then pushing the jump key will allow you to climb over it.   • Grenade Indicator When an enemy, or even an allied grenade is thrown near you, an indicator will appear on the screen showing you which direction it's located in. Always make sure you find cover in the opposite direction of the arrow unless you want to be blown up.   • Ammo Display Along with many of the on screen displays, the ammo display will fade after a few seconds if you're not using your gun. To see how much ammo you have in your gun and to bring up the display, simply press the reload button.   • Compass When you spot an enemy, or your squad mates shout out where one is, a red dot will appear on your compass showing the location of the enemy soldier. This is useful if you're being shot at and don't know where from.   PLEASE NOTE: Due to the way Call of Duty 2 has been made, without as many linear approaches to missions, for the most part it will depend on how you play through the mission as to how well the guide will work for you. I can't go into a lot of detail about each section of each mission because as I stated before, the way the AI and the game has been designed, things can and do change depending on the players choices. I'll give a basic run down of each mission, which should be able to help enough in those tricky situations. I finished the game on Veteran before writing this guide, so I'm aware of exactly where the hard parts of the game are, and the best way of getting past them. If the guide is based on Veteran, then it can only be easier for the other difficulties.   ALSO NOTE: There is a section in the guide explaining which weapons you get for each mission. These generally vary depending on which weapons you had at the end of the previous mission. The only way I was able to get the exact weapons everyone would have was to use the "Restart Mission" option in game. When you use this, you'll start the mission with default weapons. Please do not email me informing me that the weapons are wrong, it's another non-linear feature that has been included by Infinity Ward.   =============================================================================== M I S S I O N S ===============================================================================   There are 27 missions in Call Of Duty 2. These are split up into a number of different campaigns, however you have the ability to play through the missions in a few different orders once you unlock them. =====================================
From the start of the mission, run along the street, and run across the road in
front of the MG42. If you have trouble with it, you could use smoke, but that's
really not necessary this early in the mission. Make your way up the steps and
repair the wire, then move to the left and take cover. behind the walls and
other objects. Lean out and take out the Germans who will probably be marked
with red dots on your compass, then when you've killed off most of the close
ones, mantle over the wall and move towards the MG42 position.

There'll still be a few Germans to kill here, however move into the building on
the left and repair the wire. Throw one or two grenades up behind the sandbags
at the top of the room, as there are three to five Germans in here who will
randomly pop up and rifle you. Use your SVT-40 or PPSh to pick them off if you
get a chance. When all looks clear, move up and head to the far exit of the
building. Help your squad dispose of any Germans you can see here, then prepare
for probably one of the toughest battles in the game so far.

You will definitely need to smoke the street around the corner. There are a
good fifteen or so Germans with rifles and autos shooting right at you, and
you've literally got to get past them. The only way is to use smoke to block
their vision, get pretty much all of your grenades in there and then move in
fast with a PPSh and clear up the rest. Of course it's never that easy, and
you could well be stuck at this section for a number of retries. You've just
gotta keep trying, and get lucky.

Move into the building on the right and kill the three Germans down here before
heading through the doorway. This next section can be quite difficult too, take
cover behind the concrete in the center of the area and use your SVT-40 to kill
the Germans on the floors opposite. There'll be three or so up there, then one
German may come down the stairs to the right. Wipe them all out, then head up
those stairs and repair the wire.

Two Germans, or maybe more will rush to the top of the stairs, so prepare to
take them out, then slowly make your way to the top of the steps where you'll
have to kill two or three more Germans, most of whom are behind the objects in
the center for cover. Clear out this area, and then get on the MG42 to the
left. Use it to fire at all of the Germans below and keep shooting until you
can't see any more. Repair the wire right next to the MG, then proceed through
the building.

Lean out from behind the wall and take out the few Germans who will come to the
sand bags in the next building. Once they're gone, move across and look through
the sand bags to take out a few more Germans. A few will probably try to flank
you from the room on the left, so once you've cleared out as many as you can
see, move through the rooms and use your PPSh or grenades to take out the
remaining Germans. There are probably a good ten or so scattered through all of
the rooms, so make sure they're all gone, then proceed down into the next area.

Kill the MG42 gunners and rifle men to the left, then head down the stairs to
the right and take out the five or so Germans down here with a grenade and your
PPSh or rifle. Once everyone's been killed, head down the stairs and kill a
German who will be waiting for you, then repair the wire, and use a grenade to
clear out the next room. Once it looks secure, move in and along the corridor.

Kill any Germans who remain in the room at the end, then pick up the sticky
bombs and use the radio to contact HQ and get your orders. There are tanks
moving in, so you need to take them out. Make your way up the stairs and wait
for two Germans to burst through the door. Kill them with your PPSh, then
carefully proceed through the door yourself, taking out the few Germans who
will be in this area.

As you move through a few Germans will make their way down from above and land
below. There'll be a pretty decent amount of Germans to kill, so I'd suggest
throwing two or three grenades in their general direction, then moving in to
clear out the rest. From there move into the next room and get on the MG42 to
the right. Use it to kill a few Germans behind the obstacles at the side of the
road, then get off the MG42 and throw grenades into the building opposite where
the Germans are. Drop down at the end of the room and move across the street
into the German building, then take out any Germans that are left.

There should be a tank coming along the street now, so run across the road and
take cover behind the crates. As the tank goes past, quickly chase it and plant
your bombs on the side or back then take cover as it blows. Make your way along
the street, then along the street to the right, taking out any Germans who you
come across. Move into the building on the right and kill the few Germans
upstairs, then use the balcony outside to help you dispose of the final few
Germans in this area. You'll hear a tank at the end of the next long street,
so get some smoke in there and wait for it to fill up the street.

Once it does, run straight through it and then move into the broken buildings
on the right when you reach them. Kill the few Germans who will be nearby then
run through the building and catch up with the tank. Plant your bomb on it,
then take cover. Move back towards the intersection and then head off down the
street leading to the next tank. This area is heavily populated with Germans
too, but a well placed smoke grenade and a few frag grenades should give you
enough time to rush towards the tank, plant your bomb and take cover at the far
end of the street. Just make sure to kill the two Germans who'll come from that
end of the street after you plant the bomb. Once it blows up, it's the end of
this pretty tough mission.

Move towards the entrance to the pipe and crouch down to allow you access.
Follow your squad up the pipe until they stop above the German halftrack. Like
idiots they'll start shooting and give away your position, so my advice is to
use your gun and spray down onto the Germans before they move out of the
halftrack. It won't really make a difference anyway as your two squad mates
will be wiped out by enemy fire that will rip through the pipes. Quickly make
your way through the pipes and avoid the enemy fire coming through.

You'll need to move quickly and carefully, you can actually move more quickly
by strafing along the side of the pipe as you move forward. Head off to the
right when you reach the piping with writing on it. Ignore the Germans below,
it's not worth wasting your ammo, then continue along the pipe and quickly move
past the grenade that will come through. Once you reach the end, drop down and
follow your squad outside.

Take cover in the trenches and fire at the Germans in the station watch tower
building then move along to the right behind the trains and take out the
Germans who will be streaming towards you. Try to make your way up into the
broken building beside the tower taking out the tens of Germans in here.
You'll most likely have to use a number of grenades and a lot of spraying, as
well as taking cover. Move in and make your way up the stairs, taking out the
German on there, and then get a few grenades in the top of the watch tower
room. There are a good four or so Germans in here, and once you've wiped them
out, you'll immediately have to start defending the area.

Head down the stairs and go prone about half way up. Using a PPSh shoot the
large number of Germans who will move in. Keep up the fire for a few minutes
and then move down and out the far end of the ruined building. Keep to the
right and head around the back of the trains. If there are any Germans still
remaining, try to take them out, but your primary objective is to take out
the enemy tank which is heavily defended by a good number of Germans. You'll
need to use all four of your grenades and two or three smoke grenades, then
run like hell in to plant the bomb on the tank. As soon as you plant it, fall
back behind something and take cover, then pick off the final few Germans in
the area.

Once outside is secure, you'll need to move into the next room and clear it
out. There'll be ten or so Germans in here, so a smoke grenade could help to
move in and a few grenades wouldn't be too bad for you either. Keep spraying
at the enemies until you secure this area, then move to the end of the room,
behind the MG42 and pick up ammo for the PPSh and Tokarev SVT-40.

You now have three objectives which you are required to complete. I'll cover
them in alphabetic order, so we'll need to head out of the large building, then
head left past the broken wall and up the hill. Watch out for about five
Germans here and a few in the building to your right, then run across the open
area all the way to the other side. There'll be a number of Germans in the
trenches to the left, so get some grenades in there, and use your SVT-40 to
pick off any remaining enemies. Move in to the MG42 area and you'll capture
the first objective.

The next objective involves you moving into the large building in the middle
and taking out all of the Germans, which isn't really an easy task considering
there's a good twenty or so in here. Once again use grenades and your PPSh to
assist in the murder of the Germans. They'll throw grenades back at you and
use the objects in the room to the right effectively for cover, so make sure
you check every single area, and once the whole building is secure move back
down and proceed across towards the final objective.

Almost exactly the same as the first, you need to kill a number of Germans in
the trenches, then capture their MG42 position. It's pretty much common sense
as to how to get there, use smoke to conceal your movement, then use grenades
to take out a few of them before moving in with your auto and clearing up.
Once everyone's dead you'll pass the mission.

Immediately head to the South and commandeer the fixed machine gun position.
Use it to mow down the waves of Germans who will be making their way towards
you. Keep up the fire for a good minute or two, killing all Germans who get
near, then you'll be told to help defend the west roadblock. Take cover behind
the crates and fire at the Germans with your M1 Garand. You could use a few
grenades to help take out a big selection of them, however they'll keep coming
anyway, so my best advice is to just conserve your ammo and keep yourself in
cover, firing at any Germans who give you a clear shot.

Keep fighting them and pretty soon a halftrack will move in. Keep in cover and
dispose of the Germans who come out of it, then keep shooting at what seems
like hundreds of Germans swarming around the corner. Eventually a tank will
move in from the other end of the street, and as it starts to get closer your
squad will decide it's not safe to stay, so move into the orchard and take
cover behind the wall marked with the star on the compass.

Pop up and fire at the Germans rushing through the bushes into your position.
Use grenades to keep them back, and make sure they don't flank you. Your squad
will do a decent job of picking them off too, so take cover a lot if you get
hit. After about two minutes you'll be told to fall back into the building and
use the machine gun for covering fire as the guys retreat. Run into the
building and head to the top floor, right window where you'll find the 30 Cal.
Pour on the ammo at the Germans who will be marked with a red crosshair on your
screen. Take out as many as you can see, then when the tank starts shooting at
you, get off the machine gun and head downstairs.

Shoot the crazy German who busts open the door, then the few to the right of
the roadblock, then immediately rush towards the second building down and move
through it. Kill four Germans who'll come from the right, then three to five
who will be stationed to the left, then jump over the broken wall and make your
way down the main path towards the bunkers.

Head straight into the trench, then get on the MG42 at the end and use it to
take down the tens of Germans rushing from the left road, and the right arch
way. When the tank gets a bit too close for comfort, run down the trench
towards the bunker, ignoring your orders to provide suppressing fire. A few
seconds later you'll be told to fall back and help out at the next bunker, so
make your way down the trenches and regroup with the other soldiers. You'll be
informed that reinforcements are on their way from Omaha Beach, as well as some
air cover, but they're a good five minutes away, and you've got to defend the
Pointe on foot until then.

Stay in the concrete circle thing and use the walls for cover for about another
two minutes. Kill the many Germans who'll come through the trenches from the
right, and throw almost a constant supply of grenades to the Germans coming
from straight ahead. You'll be told to fall back to the final bunker, and
usually you'd think getting inside the bunker would give you the best chance of
survival, which I suppose it does, for now, however my advice is to go on top
of the bunker where you'll have a nice supply of ammo and grenades.

Stay prone, then pop up firing off rifle shots and throwing grenades at the
Germans coming from all over. With about a minute left of the reinforcement
countdown you'll be told to deploy green smoke on the top of the bunker, and if
you're inside, you'll have a pretty hard job getting up here, which is why I
said to just defend the whole bunker from this position. Trigger the smoke
which will be right next to you, then keep pouring on the ammo as you await the
air strike on the enemy units.

After the tanks have been blown up and the remaining enemy soldiers have been
picked off watch the reinforcements arrive, and listen to the emotional music
with a speech from Reagan. You've successfully captured and held Pointe du Hoc
and in doing so, have completed arguably the most well made single player
mission in any war game ever.

rush to the most Northern bunker and hold that position. Use the MG42 on the
wall in front of you to kill any Germans moving up the hill, but the Germans to
your right and left are by far the most important to worry about. Use your
grenades to keep them off you, and after about a minute a Tiger tank will move
in. It happens to move just past the North bunker, so stay in the ditch next to
it and plant your explosives on it as it drives past, then get back inside the
wooden shelter and take cover.

Move into the next bunker along to the left and use the fixed MG42 to keep the
troops away from you. Another Tiger tank will make it's way up the hill, and
once again it will make it's way right past you, so hold your cover until
it's close, then plant the bomb on it as it moves past and get back into the
bunker to regain some health. Move along to the North bunker again and use it's
MG42 to kill any Germans moving in, then with about ten seconds left some
P-51 Mustangs will move in and blow the hell out of everything. Keep in cover
as the Germans start to retreat, then move out and take out any last Germans as
they run back down the hill.

Meet up with your squad at the top of the hill to complete one of the most
difficult, yet reasonably fun missions on the game.

=====================================
Well, this is it. Welcome to the final mission in Call of Duty 2. You're
landing on the German side of the Rhine and taking out a number of Flak guns
throughout the streets of Wallendar, Germany.

Use the 50 Cal on the boat and fire at the MG42 gunner in the window of the
main building to the left, and to fire at the Germans behind the wall next to
the Flak gun to the left. Use the 50 Cal to keep shooting at the Germans after
the boat comes to a stop, then when you're told to get out of the boat because
you're sitting ducks, do just that. If you stay in for a second too long you'll
be blown to hell.

Once you're in the water, you'll instantly recognise the resemblance to Omaha
Beach from Medal of Honor or Saving Private Ryan. There's very little cover,
and the Germans are pouring on the ammo at you. Use your M1 Garand to pick off
the MG42 gunners to the left, then flank around them completely to the left and
bounce a grenade off the building so that it lands right in front of the flak
gun on the other side of the broken wall which you should be using for cover.
Do not throw any smoke grenades this early in the mission as you'll need them
later on and you can't pick up any more. Pop up and take out the last few
Germans with your Thompson, then capture the Flak 88 and move through the
building.

Throw a few grenades towards the next Flak 88, then run into the building to
the left and head upstairs where you'll be able to pick off a number of the
enemies without much return fire. Once again secure the Flak 88 once the area
is clear, and move through the building onto the main street.

Kill the five or so Germans behind the obstacles to the left and right of the
street, then prepare for a pretty large battle with a lot of Germans in the
next area. Throw a few grenades towards their position behind the pile of
rubble, then get one smoke grenade in the middle of the road and rush into the
building on the left. Clear that out, then look up the road to the left where
you'll see a few Germans come around the corner.

Jump out of the window and throw a grenade or two up the street, then move up
behind the wall on the right and shoot at the Germans just a few meters away
behind the various objects for cover. Kill the three or four at the other side
of the street, then run across there and take cover from the MG42. Don't waste
a smoke grenade on the MG42 German, he'll be able to get you over it, so just
carefully lean out from the buildings on the left and pick him off, then
proceed down the next row of houses and use grenades and your rifle to take out
the last few Germans by the Flak 88. Capture the gun, then move through the
broken building to the left.

This next area is insanely well defended by a good thirty Germans, and it's
going to take nothing more than complete luck to make it through without dying
on the harder difficulties. Throw some smoke and take cover behind the small
wooden cart, then lean out to either side and fire off rifle or SMG shots at
any Germans you can see. Use your grenades to help you take out the well
covered ones, then run in and use the barrels to the left for cover.

The first ten or so Germans you took out were nothing compared to the ten or
more who are still along the street, so stay in a lot of cover and use grenades
to flush them out so you can spray them with your Thompson. You may wish to use
another smoke grenade here as there are literally that many Germans you don't
really stand much chance at all. Throw all of the grenades you have towards
their positions, then run over some dead enemies to pick up more. Keep inching
your way forward, but always keep behind cover to the left. Use the turned over
table and your rifle to help you take out the last lot of Germans at the end of
the street and behind the wall, then climb over it and move into the graveyard.

Once again, keep to the left and use the church for cover to assist you in
leaning out and picking off the Germans who'll be rushing in. Throw your
grenades over the end wall towards the Flak gun to stop any reinforcements, and
clean up the graveyard with your Thompson. Get on the Flak 88 and point it
down the street, using it to take out the few Germans down at the end, then
move along the road.

Enter the path to the left behind the fence where you'll see a good five or so
Germans behind the wall. When they see how many people are moving in behind you
they'll generally start running away, so kill them from behind and take cover
from the planted MG42 halfway along the road. Pick him off with your weapon,
then rush the building to the left and clean out the bottom floor with your
trusty Thompson. Head upstairs and kill the German, then throw a grenade into
the doorway of the building opposite, which will hopefully take out all three
Germans in that room. Move down and across the road into that building, then
head through.

Kill the few Germans behind the wall in front, then rush around to the left of
that area and use the wall for cover. Throw as many grenades as you have
towards the Flak gun and the other enemy areas around it, then move towards the
Flak gun with your Thompson at the ready. As you get near the 88, a German tank
will come around the corner. I know what you're thinking, but don't. The tank
will take out the flak gun before you get near, so instead, run the other way
and take cover alongside the building.

A tank will head straight past you, so take that out with your sticky bombs,
then clear that small street of any last Germans. Make your way back along
towards the destroyed Flak gun and use grenades to take out the large German
defences there. If you have any smoke, use that to help you get close, and wipe
out the last few Germans. The enemy tank will be heading along the road towards
the other Flak gun, so rush up behind it and plant your bomb, then turn around
and take out the Germans coming through the building you make your way into
this area from.

Once they've all been taken care of, another load of Germans will attack from
the West, where the first tank came from. Move into the center of the square
and get as many grenades as you have left into their position. Head across to
the left by the Flak gun and slowly and carefully make your way over to them
and clean them out with your Thompson.

Once they've all been killed, make your way back to the graveyard where you'll
meet up with the Colonel who will tell you how proud he is of the job you've
managed to do. You should also be proud of yourself as you've just finished one
of the greatest, longest and toughest world War Two games in history.

Well done.
