This is a great game, even more so if you've read Faust and The Divine Comedy, and has a deep story with engaging characters. If you're familiar with some anime, you'll recognize the voice actors from shows like Fullmetal Alchemist or Evangelion (the voice acting is excellent in general). Unfortunately, there's not much info on it, a lot of walkthroughs are incomplete or inaccurate, and some stories are tricky to get. That's why I've made this as a quick guide to get all the endings easily. Many visual novel walkthroughs list all the options that may lead to a specific ending. The problem of this is that you don't really know which of those choices are relevant and which were just accidental. So, unless you happened to choose exactly the same options as those in the walkthrough, you'll end up backtracking a lot to change things that aren't really necessary. That's why, instead of this, I decided to point out ONLY the minimal requirements to get the desired ending. That way, if you're not getting what you wanted, you can see exactly where you made the wrong choice, and avoid pointless backtracking. Also, you'll have more freedom to experiment with different options and scenarios. Besides, there's an item list below, with the methods to obtain all objects. Anyway, I've made this guide through trial and error, to isolate which choices affect an ending and which choices don't. I tried to be as thorough as possible, but there may be things among the lots and lots of variables that escaped my attention. If you notice any error, or some requirement I forgot, feel free to e-mail me at iredc17387@gmail.com. Of course, I'll update the walkthrough to give you credit. ------------------------------------------------- THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND ------------------------------------------------- BUGS ----- The English version of this game had several bugs (one of them game-breaking), and besides, some scenes were censored. Luckily, there are patches that solve all these issues (see below for the download). -"A Quiet Corrosion" bug: This bug is absolutely game-breaking, so you need to fix it before playing. It causes a crucial item not appearing in your inventory, so not being able to finish the Philosopher's Stone, you'll get the "A Quiet Corrosion" bad end no matter what you do. -"Outbreak of War" bug: Not so important as the previous bug, but annoying. It turns the text invisible in the "Outbreak of War" chapter, so you don't know what's happening unless you understand the Japanese voice-over. Even with the patch, I experienced this bug sometimes, but it can be easily fixed by saving at the beginning of that chapter, closing the game, and then loading the save file. The text will be back. -Missing items bug: In the original game, there are three items (Wordless Book, Magical White Medicine and Liquid Onyx) that won't appear in the Alchemy chart when you buy or create them. I fixed this myself (the patch is in a separate link below). Notice that you'll have to replace the Outbreak of War patch with this one, since both modify the same file. But I used the other patch as basis for mine, so it should fix both issues at the same time (anyway, there's always the "save-reload" method for the missing text explained above). -Censorship: Installing the uncensor patch is just a matter of preference. Mainly it's the gore what was censored, and to a lesser extent, some erotic scenes were changed as well. In my opinion, the censorship is rather dumb, since this is an adult game with many disturbing scenes, and just obscuring some pictures here and there won't change that fact. You can download the A Quiet Corrosion, Outbreak of War and Uncensor patches here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1H_T09BUDqQGvwxeWJdXr3SEpmSYZOMnp The missing items patch is here: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3780/ NOTE TO "A MESSENGER AT TWILIGHT" ------------------------------- Answers to Mephistopheles in the first chapter determine which item you get in "The Great Paracelsus". You may get an "Onyx", "Mummified Heart" or "Baphomet" (see the Items section for the possible combinations). Getting an Onyx is required to see the chapter "Forest of Grief", which in turn makes possible to get Bruno's ending. Other than this, the individual answers themselves don't matter much. After lots of trial and replays I came to the conclusion that only refusing to talk with him, or the gender of your chosen companion, have any effect. To summarize: -Choosing "A man": It unlocks the "Gennai vs. Whistler" scene, but locks the Binah, Cochma and Bad End: Lust endings, as well as the "Strange Bride" scene. -Choosing "A woman": It unlocks the Binah, Cochma and Bad End: Lust endings, as well as the "Strange Bride" scene, but locks Bruno's ending, "The Hell-Fire club" chapter, and the "Gennai vs. Whistler" scene. -Choosing "Either": It unlocks the Binah, Cochma and Bad End: Lust endings, as well as the "Strange Bride" scene, but locks the "Gennai vs. Whistler" scene. -Choosing "I'm not": It unlocks the Binah, Cochma and Bad End: Lust endings, as well as the "Strange Bride" scene, but locks Bruno's ending and the "Gennai vs. Whistler" scene. Some walkthroughs say that you need to choose "A woman" to get Lillith or Sylvie's endings, but it's a wrong assumption (you can get them even if you answered "A man"). In fact, choosing "A woman" is the one option that has no benefit at all, as seen above, since answering "I'm not" at least gives you a new item later. NOTE TO "MIKHAIL'S ENDING 1 (KETHER)" ------------------------------------- The crown you receive at the end of this route unlocks some endings previously unavailable, but you'll lose all your crosses and crowns (except Kether) during this storyline. So if you want to collect them all, do the rest of the endings (including the bad ones) after Mikhail 1. On the other hand, I find more interesting, storywise, to leave Mikhail 1 for later, given that it's the big, "true" ending, and play first some of the secondary and bad endings. All in all, it's a matter of how much importance you give to completing the chart. EXTRA CHAPTERS AND SCENES ------------------------- These are intermediate chapters that you may or may not see, depending on some choices, but they're not necessary to finish all endings: -Scars: This chapter only appears if you say that Lillith is dead, during "Home Sweet Home". -The Hell-Fire Club: Only appears if you don't choose "A woman" in "Messenger at Twilight", and go outside with Dashwood during "Scars". -To the Forest of Grief: Appears if your answers to Mephistopheles in "Messenger at Twilight" give you an Onyx later (see Item section for the right combination), and play innocent during "Scars". -Oriental Curio Shop: Appears if you say that Lillith is dead, during "Home Sweet Home", and drink from the chalice in "Demon in the Church". -Entering the Society: Only appears if you join the Hell-Fire club in "The Other Lillith". In turn, you can only join the club if you previously channeled the spirit during "Oriental Curio Shop". -Experiments under the Castle: Appears if you don't join the Hell-Fire club in "The Other Lillith". These are scenes that only appear after meeting special requirements: -Gennai vs. Whistler: Appears if you answer "A man" in "Messenger at Twilight", and give Lillith to St. Germant in "Confession". -The Strange Bride: Appears if you answer "I'm not", "A woman" or "Either" in "Messenger at Twilight", and give Lillith to St. Germant in "Confession". -Invention Showdown 2: Appears during chapter "The Founding Day Festival Begins" if you have the Kether crown. -Bruno tries to summon Mephistopheles in vain: Appears during "Soup of Life" if you either didn't accompany St. Germant in "Oriental Curio Shop" or hid Lillith elsewhere in "Confession", and successfully researched Opaque Fluorite Medicine in "The Founding Day Festival Begins". -Georik asks Ruthberg about joining the Hell-Fire club: Appears in "The other Lillith" if you didn't meet all requirements for Mikhail 1 at this point, and accepted Dashwood's sword in "The Hell-Fire club" (or just didn't get that chapter). Having the Cross of Envy, Pentacle and Sword in your inventory also unlocks some minor scenes in certain chapters (see the Item section for details). -------------------------------------------------------------- THE ENDINGS -------------------------------------------------------------- There are 12 endings in total (not counting the bad endings). The game lists them as this: -Ending 0: Blank -Ending 2: Cochma (Insight) -Ending 3: Binah (Understanding) -Ending 4: Chesed (Mercy) - Bruno version -Ending 5: Geburah (Blessings of God) -Ending 6: Tipheret (Beauty) -Ending 6: Chesed (Mercy) - Dashwood 1 version -Ending 7: Netzach (Victory) -Ending 9: Iesod (Foundation) -Ending 10: Kether (Crown) -Ending 10: Malchut (Kingdom) -Hod (Glory) - This ending isn't given a number or name If you're curious, those are the names of the Sephiroth from Kabbalah's Tree of Life. I don't know why the endings were numbered the way they are, instead of just going from 1 to 12. In the walkthrough below, I haven't included the options to get items, but there's a minimum of items you need to avoid A Quiet Corrosion (see the Bad Endings section for details). KETHER (aka. Mikhail's ending 1) --------------------------------- -Demon in the Church: Drink, Seek help -Palace of Hatred and Jealousy: Threaten Bruno with sword -Confession: Keep Lillith in the mansion -Den of Homunculus: Accept contract -Outcome of the Showdown: Cut to kill -Soup of Life: Search for Lillith (if you didn't choose "A woman" in "Messenger at Twilight", and headed to the light in "Forest of Grief") -The Other Lillith: Don't join Hell-Fire club -Experiments under the Castle: Go, I'm looking for St. Germant/ Go, I'm fine -Awakening: Finish research (you can also "Say farewell to Lillith" if you failed the chalice puzzle in "Great Paracelsus" and didn't bathe her in "Soup of Life") -Inferno: I'm not Lucifer -Purgatorio: Atone for all sins when given the options -Paradiso: Accept exchange MALCHUT (aka. Dashwood's ending 1) ---------------------------------- Some walthroughs say you can only get this ending if you don't have the Kether crown in your inventory, but I could get it even with the crown doing the following: -Messenger at Twilight: Don't choose "A woman" (not strictly necessary, but you'll get more background if you can see "The Hell-Fire club" chapter) -Home Sweet Home: Lillith is dead -Scars: Go talk outside (to see "The Hell-Fire club" chapter) -The Hell-Fire Club: Leave things in Dashwood's hands -Demon in the Church: Drink, Seek help -Oriental Curio Shop: Try to channel spirit -Confession: Keep Lillith in the mansion -Den of Homunculus: Accept contract -The Other Lillith: Join Hell-Fire club -Entering the Society: Accept Sandwich's request (unless you don't have the crown Kether and Die Geestelike Brulocht book, in which case it doesn't matter) -Ruler's Curse: Buy something in Ruthberg's shop and successfully channel spirit -Wolfgang Zaberisk: He's clumsy BLANK (aka. Ruthberg's ending) ------------------------------- Some walthroughs say you can only get this ending if you don't have the Kether crown in your inventory, but I could get it even with the crown doing the following: -Messenger at Twilight: Don't choose "A woman" (not strictly necessary, but you'll get more background if you can see "The Hell-Fire club" chapter) -Home Sweet Home: Lillith is dead -Scars: Go talk outside (to see "The Hell-Fire club" chapter) -The Hell-Fire Club: Leave things in Dashwood's hands -Demon in the Church: Drink, Seek help -Oriental Curio Shop: Try to channel spirit -Confession: Keep Lillith in the mansion -Den of Homunculus: Accept contract -The Other Lillith: Join Hell-Fire club -Entering the Society: Accept Sandwich's request (unless you don't have the crown Kether and Die Geestelike Brulocht book, in which case it doesn't matter) -Ruler's Curse: Buy something in Ruthberg's shop and successfully channel spirit -Wolfgang Zaberisk: He's Sandwich's lackey/ He's fake HOD (aka. You should watch them anyway, because sometimes they provide background info and new scenes for the gallery. BAD END 1: PRIDE ---------------- There are two ways to get this ending: 1) The Hell-Fire Club: Escape 2) Demon in the Church (if you don't have the "Cross of Envy"): Refuse Ruthberg's help BAD END 2: COVETOUSNESS ----------------------- -Den of the Homunculus: Don't accept Mephistopheles' pact -A Demon's Torment: Refuse to die BAD END 3: LUST --------------- -Messenger at Twilight: I'm not, A woman or Either -Palace of Hatred and Jealousy: See how things play out -Awakening: Finish research or Farewell to Lillith BAD END 4: ANGER ---------------- -Awakening: Betray Mephistopheles BAD END 5: GLUTTONY ------------------- Same path as Mikhail 1, but in Experiments under the Castle choose "I'm looking for Bruno" BAD END 6: ENVY --------------- -Confession: Give Lillith to St. Germant BAD END 7: SLOTH ---------------- -Den of the Homunculus: Don't accept Mehistopheles' pact -A Demon's Torment: Choose to die or not thinking anymore BAD END 7: SLOTH-B (A QUIET CORROSION) -------------------------------------- There are four different ways to get this ending: 1) Don't have Opaque Fluorite in your inventory when reaching "Soup of Life" 2) Don't have the required items for the Philosopher's Stone in "Luminescent Blessing" (Philosopher's Sulfur, Philosopher's Mercury, Opaque Fluorite and Philosopher's Egg) 3) Channel the spirit in "Oriental Curio Shop". Join the Hell-Fire club in "The Other Lillith". In next chapter decline Sandwich's suggestion to leave Mephistopheles behind. In "Ruler's Curse" don't channel the spirit. After "Luminescent Blessing", the story will default to "A Quiet Corrosion" no matter the items you have. 4) If you have the "Cross of Envy" and refuse Ruthberg's help in chapter "Demon in the Curch", you'll go directly to this ending. BAD END x1: QUEEN LILLITH ------------------------- -Inferno: Request to see Lillith BAD END x2: HE WHO DOES NOT SIN ------------------------------- -Purgatorio: Refuse to atone for any of your sins ENDING-ZAP: COVETOUSNESS (GREED) -------------------------------- -Paradiso: Refuse the exchange Strangely enough, this ending doesn't lead to a Game Over screen. -------------------------------------------------- ITEMS -------------------------------------------------- There's a total of 88 items in this game, here listed in alphabetical order. My recommendation is that you collect as many items as you can already in your first playthrough. To do so, choose a shop and search the mansion, then reload without saving and choose a different shop and research. All the things will be in your inventory even if you didn't save the first time. Apparently, in rare ocassions, an item obtained through this method may not appear in the chart. Though I haven't found that bug myself. Don't worry about the A Quiet Corrosion ending; you can get it later even if you have all the necessary items (see the section for this ending). Notice that you can only buy items in Gennai's shop if you've seen the "Oriental Curio Shop" chapter (see the section about extra chapters). - Adamantite: Forest of Grief - Go towards the brighter light - Alcohol: Home Sweet Home and Outbreak of War: Search - Amethyst: Den of Homunculus - Ruthberg shop - Amphiteatrum Sapientiae Aeternae: Shining Elixir - Obtained automatically - Animamundi: Paradiso - Accept the exchange - Aqua Vita: The Royal Physician - Created through Research if you have Herbs and Alcohol - Aristotle's writings: Den of Homunculus - Go to Royal library - Athanor: Shining Elixir - Obtained automatically - Baphomet: Great Paracelsus - Found if you answered in Messenger at Twilight the following: "I am", "I won't", "Fury and ruthless control", "Voice of the Devil", "Not in the least" (other choices don't matter) - Bible: Home Sweet Home - Lillith is dead - Bronze: 1) Royal Physician - Search 2) Ruler's Curse - Ruthberg shop (named "Copper" in this occassion by mistake) - Cabala Writings: Royal Physician - Take a Peek in Bruno's office - Chalice of Dawn: Beautiful Circle Dance - Obtained automatically - Chemical Marriage: Den of Homunculus - Ruthberg shop - Cross of Anger: Awakening - Obtained after Bad End Anger - Cross of Covetousness: A Demon's Torment and Paradiso - Obtained after Bad End Covetousness and Ending-Zap - Cross of Envy: Whistler the Ripper - Obtained after Bad End Envy (if you have this cross during the Inferno chapter, St. Germant's fate will differ) - Cross of Gluttony: The Beast of Ambition and Appetite - Obtained after Bad End Gluttony - Cross of Lust: A Thousand Years of Darkness - Obtained after Bad End Lust - Cross of Pride: The Hell-Fire Club and Demon in the Church - Obtained after Bad End Pride - Cross of Sloth: A Demon's Torment and A Quiet Corrosion - Obtained after Bad End Sloth and Sloth-B - Crown of Binah: A New Journey - Obtained after St. Germant and Lillith's ending 1 - Crown of Chesed: Gentle Poison - Obtained after Bruno's ending (Dashwood's ending 1 doesn't really give it) - Crown of Cochma: A New Journey - Obtained after St. Germant and Lillith's ending 2 - Crown of Geburah: Souls in Heaven - Obtained after Mikhail's ending 2 - Crown of Hod: Ruin of the Hell-Fire Club - Obtained after Dashwood's ending 2 - Crown of Iesod: Queen of Hardland Reborn - Obtained after Sylvie's ending - Crown of Kether: The Invisible Crown - Obtained after Mikhail's ending 1 - Crown of Malchut: Inferno - Obtained after Mephistopheles' ending - Crown of Netzach: The Archangel's Sword - Obtained after St. Germant's ending - Crown of Tiphereth: Embraced by Darkness Eternal - Obtained after Lillith's ending - Cuffs of Ouroboros: Demon in the Church - Obtained automatically - Devil's blood: Den of Homunculus - Given by Mephistopheles if you Accept the contract - Die Geestelike Brulocht: Trap of Destruction - Given by Ruthberg after contacting the spirit (Dashwood's ending 1) - Dragon Horn: Forest of Grief - Continue towards the sound of water, Attack with Mikhail or Let St. German shoot - Elixir (Red Fluorite potion): Luminescent Blessing - Obtained automatically after creating the Philosopher's stone - Emerald Tablet: Confession - Ruthberg shop - Floating Stone: Beautiful Circle Dance - Created through research if you have Animamundi, Orichalcon and Meteorite (only possible in subsequent playthroughs) - Gold: Awakening - Finish up research - Heart Spirits: Entering the Society - Created through research if you have Mummified Heart and Alcohol - Herbs: The Nightmare Begins - Obtained automatically - Homunculus: Soup of Life - Obtained automatically if you have at least 44 items - Hydrochloric Acid: 1) Scars - Search, 2) Confession and Wolfgang Zaberisk - Ruthberg shop - Iron: Outcome of the Showdown - Search - Lacquer: Oriental Curio Shop - Gennai shop - Lao Tzu's Writings: Den of Homunculus - Gennai shop - Lead: Shinig Elixir, Great Paracelsus and Civil Strife - Search - Liquid Amethyst: Outcome of the Showdown - Created through research if you have Amethyst, Royal Water and Alcohol - Liquid Onyx: The Other Lillith - Created through research if you have Onyx, Royal Water and Alcohol - Liquid Topaz: Beautiful Circle Dance - Created through research if you have Topaz, Royal Water and Alcohol - Liver des Figures Hieroglyphics: Ruler's Curse - Ruthberg shop - Living Legacy: Luminescent Blessing - Choose chalice E - Magical White Medicine (aka. It was taken from the official Hirameki site (now dead, but accessible through Wayback Machine) so I take no credit for it. [Narration] The elixir of immortality… It has long fascinated powerful men, who have sought it, And sometimes, invited destruction as they did so … The cursed fate of the Zaberisk house passed down through the generations… The parents who had died mysterious deaths… And the brother and his young sister who had been left behind… One day, this girl was beheaded in a cruel witch hunt. But … [Lyric] That beckoning voice guides me To a fleeting world running towards ruin. I stretch out my hand in the mist, And fall endlessly with my beloved. Seething despair, and a moment's ecstasy… The true proof of awakening is the cry of death. More brightly than if it were inlaid with gems, Your tear sparkles with countless dazzling sins as it falls. So let us turn this rusted destiny into cogwheels, All for the sake of you, dancing eternally in madness. So deceive me and scorn me, Try to hurt me, but these feelings will not change. Even God cannot see through this lie… The overflowing madness becomes like a knife. [Narration] Am I punishing you? Am I being punished? What we are being given…is it retribution or salvation? For the sake of the final day when all will be forgiven, I will dance the endless dance of light and darkness… With you. [Lyric] The scent of roses lingers in the darkness, As if to capture your cold eyes. The face of the water ripples as the demons wake… Carve my name into the flesh of your heart. So deceive me and scorn me, Try to hurt me, but these feelings will not change. Even God cannot see through this lie… The overflowing madness becomes like a knife. [Narration] My only light was your smile, And while I was clinging to this pathetic love… Tell me! Why did you betray me? Even though I would have betrayed the entire world for you… -------------- DELETED SCENES -------------- There are some deleted scenes in the game's files. They can be viewed through hacking, and are fully voiced and staged. The most remarkable are a Ouija session during "Whistler the Ripper", in which you can summon the spirit of a murdered woman, and a scene in "The Other Lillith", in which Dashwood kidnaps Lillith to force Georik to join the Hell-Fire club, causing Georik to kill him. -------------------------------------------------------------- CREDITS -------------------------------------------------------------- -MadJak91's Animamundi walkthrough (https://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/941865-animamundi-dark-alchemist/faqs/63367): This is a very complete walkthrough that helped me a lot to find direction to get the endings. I also discovered some less-known facts thanks to this walkthrough, like the "Invention Showdown 2" scene appearing after you have Kether. -purpledragon42's walkthrough (https://es.scribd.com/document/247076477/Animamundi-Walkthrough): Specially useful for the item section. -www.karin-e.jp/anima/ website (in Japanese): Official Karin site.
