This is going to be a guide on how to beat all of the Scenerio battles in the game. I decided to write this guide for 2 reasons. 1. The total war series is my favorite strategy game of all time. 2.there aren't many other places to find help for these battles and I know from personal experience that the scenerio battles can be hard at times. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Tips and Advice [TAA2]-------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ I highly suggest you read this if you are new to the game. 1. Use all of your units to your advantage. It doesn't matter if you only have 100 men at the end of the battle, the only thing that matters is that you win the battle. 2. Never leave Cavalry in combat for to long especially against spearmen. So charge the flanks of the enemy soldiers then, if they don't mediately route pull your horses out and then charge them again. 3. Archers can work as melee units if you are running low on infantry. 4. Always keep your general out of danger. If your general dies you will automatically lose the battle. 5. Cannons and catapults are your top priority. Whenever your enemy has these units they will aim for your general generally 90% of the time. 6. Even though at times the odds seem bad the game will usually give you some sort of tactical advantage so try to figure this out or continue to read this guide and I will tell you. 7. Never charge cavalry in to spear men head on! Allways attack from spearmen from the flank. Even if you outnumber them 2 to 1 they will still cause many casualties if you charge them while they are facing you. 8. You can pause the game and still order your troops. This will let you make better decisions because you won't be under pressure. 9. Do not chase routing units unless the battle is very close to being over because in a lot of these battles every single unit needs to be used to the best of its ability for you to win. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Walkthrough [WKT3]------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ Before I start the guide there are a few things you should know. 1. For the most part the computer is very predictable but the computer is not guaranteed to do what I say they will do so be prepared to think on your own. 2. There is more then one way to beat any one of these battles so my way may not be the easiest way of doing it. 3. If you have a alternate strategy please don't hesitate to e-mail me at ratlips24@aol.com. (Note: make sure to include medievil 2 total war in the description.) _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Last Stand [LST4]------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (2v2) Last Stand 1521 AD A team for 4 players. The Spanish have allied with the Tlaxcalans to defeat the last remaining Aztecs. THe Mayans and Aztecs must fight together in this last stand against the imposing Spanish rule. -----------------------------------Units--------------------------------------- Unit name X soldiers in each unit (number of units) Aztecs General: Captain Motelchiuh Bodyguard X 30 Aztec Warriors X 75 (3) Coyote Priests X 40 Cuahchiqueh X 60 (3) Aztec Spearmen X 75 (2) Eagle warriors X 60 (4) Juguar warriors X 60 (4) Aztec archers X 75 (2) Spain General: Captain Hernan General's bodyguard X 20 Swordsmen militia X 40 (2) Sword and buckler men X 40 (2) dismounted conquistadors X 40 (2) Almughavars X 60 (2) Crossbowmen X 60 (2) Conquistadors X 30 (2) Peasant crossbowmen X 60 (2) Town militia X 60 (2) Mayans General: Captain Akbal Supreme war captains guard X 20 Batab militia X 40 (4) Priests of Kukulcan X 40 Temple guard X 40 (4) Al holpop Militia X 60 (2) Mayan Javelinmen X 60 (2) Holkans X 30 (2) Jaguar warriors X 60 (2) Mayan archers X 60 (2) Tlaxcalans General: Captain Mamexi War captains guard X 30 Tlaxcalan warriors X 75 (2) priests of quetzalcoatl X 40 (2) cuahchiquen X 75 (3) Tlaxcalan spearmen X 75 (2) tlaxcalan archers X 60 (2) Eagle warriors X 60 (2) Jaguar warriors X 75 (4) Arrow warriors X 60 (2) ------------------------------Overview----------------------------------------- This is a large two versus two battle fought around the cramped edges of a lake. Both sides of the lake are relatively flat with the exception of a small slope on the right side. The armies are deployed on opposite sides of the map with one army on each opening of one of the paths on either side of the lake. As there is very little room on either side of the lake cavalry is extremely useless and will ultimately get surrounded and you won't have enough room to build enough momentum for a charge. Flanking with infantry is also impossible as the Native factions will always charge in large mobs of soldiers that leave no room on either side to move men around. In the end, the battle comes down to sheer numbers. Because of this there is very little strategy to win as the Native factions. ------------------------------------Strategy----------------------------------- ---Mayans and Aztecs--- Since the Mayans and Aztecs both have very similar army composition the strategy for them is completely the same. The secret to winning this battle is taking advantage of your AI ally. When the battle starts move your army down the path in front of your army. While your doing this make sure to move your general to the back of your army. If your allied army follows you down the path then continue moving down. If they don't follow you (witch is pretty rare) the move pack out of the path and follow them down there path. If your playing as the Aztecs then position half of your army on the slightly elevated hill on the left and position the rest of your army in a line on the normal path. Stop your men half way down the side path and wait for the aproaching army. Once they start sending up there skirmishers, its time to charge. Distribute your men across the enemy army and have your army fire flaming arows in the enemy mass. Hopefully ,about now, your allied army will join in with the charge with you. If you are only facing the Tlaxcalans or only facing the Spanish then you and your allied army will steam roll over them with less then 40% Casualties facing the Natives and 30% Casualties facing the Spanish. After you defeat the first army rally the survivors of your army and form them in a line and make sure to stop them from chasing enemy soldier off of the map. By now the second enemy army should be near and your surviving allied soldiers will be already charging them. If you have less then half of your men left then you should just let the allied army weaken them then move in. If you have about 60-70% of your army left (witch you should) then you can join in with your allies and crush the second army. ---Spain--- This is a bit harder because the Spanish army is one fourth ranged units and it has 3 units of cavalry witch are almost useless due to the lack space to maneuver in. To add on this the Spanish infantry ,though higher quality, are completely outnumbered against the natives and are guaranteed to route very quickly just by the enemies sheer numbers. In order to prevent this you will have to use your allied army to its fullest extent. Rather then going down the path directly in front of you, head to the path that your allied army is going down and have them lead the assault. Stay close to your allies but make sure that they take the blunt of the enemy army. Make sure that your ranged units are fining and that you don't keep your allied cavalry in combat for to long as they will get cut down. Hopefully the enemy army has been defeated and you haven't lost to much of your infantry. Your allied army is probably pretty drained but there job is not over yet. Have them lead the charge on the second army and have them do as much damage as possible to the second army before you move your men in to finish them off. Remember that if a part of your line breaks that your missile infantry can fill them temporarily ---Tlaxcalans--- Basically use the exact same strategy as above but switch all of the roles so that the Spanish go first and you go second. This one is a bit easier since your troops won't immediately route like the Spanish troops. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Mayan Ambush [MYA5]----------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (2v2) Mayan Ambush 1522 AD A team battle for 4 players. One Mayan army will focus on capturing the town while the other ambushes and destroys the reinforcing army. The Mayans have the numerical advantage and the superior positioning but the Spanish have fearsome Cavalry that will bash threw the mayans if used correctly. ------------------------------------Strategy----------------------------------- ---Mayans--- (the ambushing army commanded by Buluk Kab that is posistioned ready to kill the spanish reinforcements) You will be controlling the 2 Armies that are positoned ready to destroy the spanish reinforcements. One army is positioned on a hill on the a path that the spanish reinforcements are coming from. The second army is positioned in a forest by a hill in position to help in the assault on the town. The smaller army on the left will be referred to as the first army and the other larger army will be referred to as the second army. When the battle starts move the first army up to the town ,but don't make them run just yet. Once the enemy cannons start shooting at you, charge. Target the cannons with one of your units and fous the rest of your melee units on the infantry. Have your archers target the enemies ranged units. At this time your allied army should be attacking from the other entrance so all you should have to do is distract the soldiers outside the town. While your first army invades the city the spanish army should be approaching your second army. 9/10 times the spanish army will bring up its ranged unit first. once they do charge up your army and divide your men amounst there line. Since you should be fighting down hill you should have the advantage and they will route really quickly. By the time you route the reinforcements the town will be really close to being taken if its not already. If your allies somehow fail to take the town then take your men and finish off the survivors. ---Myans--- (The other Mayan army that is in position to raid the town and has one small force to ambush the reinforcements. This strategy is ver similair to the first mayan army. Once the battle starts have your army on the beach to the right march towards the town. Do the smae with the army on the left. There is a good change the enemy army will lead a charge with its cavalry towards your small force on the left. If they do you will take tons of loases no matter what you do. Once you can see that the other army has started the charge charge with your smallwr army. Target the cannons and try to suround the melee infantry. They should route after some time. Once this happens your second army should be in range to cahrge the city. So do that and the enemy lines will brake in no time. Ny now either you and your army should be in the process of capturing the town. now you need to do is move all of your men into the city and try to fight the spanish reinforcements untill the timer runs out. ---Spain--- (reinforcements) This one is actually really easy to do, assuming your allied army can hold the town for you. Since the AI isn't super inelegant they will not play out the battle it is supposed to be played. At the begging of the battle all 4 groups of Mayans will go straight for the town and will ignore you untill you go after them. Once the battle begins move your army slowly down the hill to the town. Once your cannons come into ranges with some of the soldiers below leave them on the hill and have them give you support. Don't worry because the enemy soldiers will not touch your cannons. Once you can see the enemy soldiers start running at the allied town it will be time for you to attack. Move all of your cavaly and your general toy the front fo the clollom and charge down the hill towards the enemy ary. Target the archers at the end of the collom and then have your infantry go after the flanks of the enemy infantry that is still outisde of the town. If the archers don't instantly route, then pull your cavalry out about 15 meters and then charge again untill they route. After they route go for the flanks of soldier outside of the town but DO NOT move your men into the town or else they will get slaughtered. One the soldiers outside have routed move your infantry inside the town and have them flank the soldiers there, but agian DO NOT move you cavalry inside the town, Just have them sit outside by the other entrance to the city. Mop up any archers that are still outside but keep them close to the town. After another few minutes another attack by the second mayan army will start there final assault on the city. Wait for about half of them to get inside the city and then charge with the last of your cavalry into there flanks. Quickly pull them out before they get surrounded and then perform another charge. If you run low on cavalry then have all of your ranged units enter into melee combat with the soldier of the second army ouside of the city and have them hold the enemy soldiers in place while your men flank them. Continue doning this untill the enemy force has been destroyed or all your cavalry is killed. Now just wait for your flanking soldiers to eliminate the enemy force and the long battle will finallt end. ---Spain--- (the army defending the town in the beginning) I have tryed many times to beat this battle but it is simpily to difficult for me. No matter what I do the allied reinforcements never help me and they just sit there as the town gets taken. If you know how to beat this battle as the spanish army that defends the town cpuld you please email me. Thankyou. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Lake Peipus [LPI6]------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (2v2) Lake Peipus 1242 AD A team battle for 4 players. To win this battle you must utilize the high ground and fight together with your allies to win. ------------------------------------Strategy----------------------------------- ---Both Novgorod armies and Dennark and the Teutonic Order--- The basic strategies for all 3 of these armies are the same. At the beginning of the battle form all of your infantry in a line in front of your cavalry. they will be in charge of sponging the enemy cavalry charge. March your army up to the top of the hill and wait for your allies to join up with you. Once there men are lined up with you, charge your cavalry down the hill. Try to swarm the enemy infantry with your infantry and keep your cavalry together. Do not let any of your cavlry go to far away from the main army. Keep the momentum going and the enemy army will route in no time at all. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Village Vilnius [VVI7]-------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (2v2) Village Vilinius 1410AD A team battle for 4 players. Like the last battle the town has no walls. Unlike the last battle both of the 2 armies protecting the town are both positioned in the town and the enemies armies are coming from opposite corners of the map. The Teutonic orders soldiers have superior infantry but poland and Lithuania have the superior numbers and have the defensive position. ---Poland and Lithuania--- Have your infantry form a lin outside the streets leading into the town. Line up your ranged infantry in the back and position your cavalry to the right of your army. Also position 2 units of any infantry inside the town square. If you have horse archers then send them to harass the enemy pikemen. Wait for the enemy army to approach and have your archers rain death on them. Engage them with your infantry and use your superior numbers to your advantage. The enemy army will sometimes try to sneak past you into the square with there cavalry. If they do engage them with your cavalry and some of your spearmen. Your allies from the other side of town will probably try to help you so you should have no trouble fighting them off. Once there defeated send some of your infantry inside the town to support the square and then send the rest of your men around the city to support your allies. Since your allies are complete morons they will not be able to prevent the enemy army from reaching the inside of the town. So with the cavalry you sent around the city have them flank the enemy soldiers. This shouldn't be to hard since your allies should have weakened them. Kill off the last of the archers outside to win the battle. ---The Teutonic Order--- The Teutonic Order is a bit harder to play as since you have to kill EVERY single one of the enemy soldiers and they will always come back from routing. But it isn't impossible. Once the battle starts you will have to reform your army. Line your 2 pikemen units in a long line in the front. The second line should consist of your swordsmen and spearmen. The third line is the ranged units and on one side of your army should be all of your cavalry. As you march charge towards the town the defenders will sally forth you meat you half way. Try to position your line next to some of the farm buildings so that the enemy soldiers won't be able to surround you. When the enemy army gets near active spear wall formation and let them come to you. Once there all engage have your cavalry swing around them and flank. The light armored infantry will route quickly. Make sure your men don't go to far away as the enemies allies will give them some support. Keep your men together and make sure the flanks are secure. After the first army and reinforcements have been destroyed you next job will be to take the town. Rest up your men and let your allies weaken the defenders. Once your units are all fresh, aproach the entrances to the town from all sides and try to surround the men in the square. Your allies should have done enough damage for you to finish them off. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Oasis Rock [ORK8]------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (1v1) Oasis Rock 1306 AD The Byzantine have pursued their hated enemy the Turks to this Oasis. Once the battle begins set the unit formation on your horse archers to loose and have them start showering the soldiers across the lake. Form your soldiers into one line with no gaps and have the infantry on the hill on the left flank return to your line. The enemy will pretty much always start off with a mass cavalry charge on your archers. Have your cavalry and your general execute a counter charge. Once the enemy cavalry routes have your cavalry charge the infantry but make sure to pull them out before they are surrounded. Continue doing this until the enemy infantry reaches your line. Your infantry is far superior so they should route quickly. Now quickly turn your line so that they will face the hill to the left. From there finish off the crossbowmen and the spearmen sent to flank you. Charge them with the remainder of your cavalry. Now its just a matter of hunting down the dang horse archers. ---The Turks--- At the beginning of the battle pull the spearmen down from the hill to the right of your army and have them join up with your line. From there you pretty much do the same strategy as you did as the Byzantines in the paragraph above. Just this time make sure to support you cavalry with your spearmen because your cavalry is a bit weaker at charging. Also prioritize the greek flamethrowers because they can inflict massive casualties. Other then that the Byzantines will take the same actions the Turks did when you faced them. Note: you don't have to turn your army like you did as the Byzantines. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Antioch Ford [AFD9]----------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (2v2) Antoich Ford 1311 AD The crusades states of Antioch and Jerusalem face off against Egypt and Turkey. In this battle The Principality of Antioch and Jerusalem are in a heavily fortified position guarded by trenches filled with water that are impossible to pass. Inbetween the trenches are hills of dirt that have artillery and missile units that have a major advantage against the soldiers below. The Turks and Egyptians have very poor infantry but there cavalry is absolutely deviating on enemy swordsmen. ---Egypt--- Once the battle starts take 3 forth of your infantry and have them engage the infantry down the middle passage between the 2 mounds. Have all of your cavalry charge the 2 units of swordsmen on the far right passage. Your infantry in the middle should get some help from your allies and you should be making some progress on the enemy lines but don't expect your guys to make there way threw in a few minutes. Your cavalry that you sent out earlier should break threw the swordsmen. Send the last of your infantry that isn't engaged down the path on the right side with your cavalry. Have the infantry assault the catapults and crossbowmen and have your cavalry flank the enemy soldiers in the middle between the dirt mounds. With this final charge the rest of the men will route and then all you will have to do is hunt down any survivors. ---The Turks--- Basically do the same exact thing as Egypt but replace anytime I said "right" with left and its basically the same thing. So for example go instead of going down the far right side go down the far left side. ---Kingdom of Jerusalem and Principality Of Antioch--- This is just as easy as the Turks. Before you start pause the game so you can make preparations. Make a line with your spearmen in the middle path and move your cavalry on the right or left path depending on witch side your on. Target some infantry with your catapults and unpause the game. While your spearmen hold you the enemy line move your swordsmen and cavalry along the right or left side and move to flank the enemy lines. The enemy cavalry will try to counter you ,so Charge them with your cavalry and swarm them with your swordsmen. Once you finish off the cavalry move your infantry and cavalry and flank the soldiers currently engaged in the middle path. The enemy infantry will quickly route and then you just need to hunt down the horse archers and you will win the battle. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Beach landing [BLG1]---------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (1v1) Beach Landing 1262 AD A Norwegian fleet has been spotted near a beach in Northumberland. The high ground is there only advantage and when they give it up, they give up there chance of winning. So make your way up the hill and onto the flat lands on top. Move 3 units of cavalry on each side of your army. Now its just another battle. Engage the enemy infantry with your and then flank them with your cavalry. Then its a matter of superior numbers and stronger cavalry against fewer numbers and unprepared cavalry. You should win this with no problem. ---Wales--- In order to win as the Welsh you must utilize the high ground you are given. Rather then waiting on the top of the hill for the enemy you should meat them on the hill. Form your infantry in a line and meat the enemy army down the hill. Keep half of your cavalry on each side of your infantry. Once your archers are in range, charge your infantry. On one side have your cavalry flank the infantry and have the other side counter the enemy cavalry. There is a very high chance that your infantry will route after a few minutes but as long as they have take out at least 75% of the enemy army and you have most of your cavalry left you should still be able to capture victory. But like always Never keep your men in combat for to long. ALways pull them out and then charge. Overall this is a hard battle do to your horrible infantry but you should be able to secure victory as long as you utilize the high ground. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Mountain Ambush [HGA2]------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (1v1) Mountain Ambush 1261 AD The English are crossing into Scottish territory choosing to take a path through the mountains. The Scottish army is aware of the English advance and has organised an ambush along the mountain road. -----------------------------------Units--------------------------------------- Scotland General: Captain Angus Generals's Bodyguard X 20 Noble Swordsmen X 60 (2) Noble Pikemen X 70 (2) Highlanders X 75 (4) Peasant Archers X 60 (2) Highland Archers X 60 (3) Highland Nobles X 75 (3) Feudal Knights X 40 (2) England General: Captain Henry General's Bodyguard X 20 Demi Lancers X 40 (3) Arquebusiers X 60 (3) Armoured Swordsmen X 60 (2) Dismounted English Knights X 60 Culverin X 20 (2) Retinue Longbowmen X 60 (2) Yeomen Archers X 60 Heavy Billmen X 60 (3) -----------------------------Overview------------------------------------------ This is a interesting 1 v 1 battle where the Scottish army has set up a ambush while the English army trys to make its way threw the mountain path. The Scottish army has archers and infantry on both sides of the path. The English army is sending half of his army down the middle and the other half up the right mountain path. -----------------------------Strategy------------------------------------------ NOTE: for future reference, The right path will always be the one where the English army sends its knights and infantry. The left path is always the side that the English army sends it single unit of archers on. ---Scotland--- Start off by ordering one unit of Highland nobles on the left path to attack the one unit of English archers by your archers. Now line up the rest of your Highland Nobles in a line on the slope leading to your archers. Don't directly put them on flat ground or else they will get destroyed put them on a angled slope. As your archers rain death on the cavalry they will charge at your Nobles. If you put them on a slope like you to then the cavalry will get cut down by your nobles. After the cavalry has been eliminated move your Nobles onto the mountain path and have them engage the enemy Billmen. Don't worry about it if some units of cavalry gets past your infantry because your main army at the end of the path will destroy them. Now to the right path where the bulk of the enemy infantry went up. Your archers should have been shooting at them for a long time now and they shouldn't be able to chase them down without any cavalry. Once they reach your main army they should be heavily depleted and you should be able to mow them down. ---England--- This one is just as easy. Since the enemy AI is really stupid they will abandon there superior position and will just unite in one army and encounter you that way. Before starting the battle stay in the deployment phase for a few seconds. Move 3 units of Demi Lancers onto the left path behind your one unit of archers. Then move the archers with your main army. Also take ALL of your army (except your cavalry) and put them on the right path with the Bulk of your infantry. Start the battle. When the battle starts take your cavalry you put on the path and mow down the Scottish archers. They should offer no resistance. Once there finished you will notice that the Scottish nobles are completely ignoring you and just heading for the main army. So charge into them while there backs are turned and then pull them out when they turn around to attack you. Once the Main enemy army arrives it will be time to split. Send them up the right path with the rest of your army. Now back to your main force. Position them on the right path at the top of the slope. Make sure they are facing at a angle and there is no room to flank you. Also take your ranged infantry and position them along the edge of the path so there in range to rain death on the enemy army below. Now its just a matter of cutting down the enemy soldiers when they come at you. They will be out of formation so it will be a piece of cake. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------Highland Alliance [MAB3]------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ (2v2) Highland Alliance 1359 AD England and Wales have made and allied push into Scottish Territory. The armies are planning to attack a small Scottish village not far from the border. Move up your infantry together in one line with your ally and then when your infantry is fighting swing around your cavalry and hit the archers and the infantry at the flanks. Simple as that. _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------My other Guides [MOG1]-------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ God of war chains of Olympus- X-men Origins Wolverine- (PSP) Ratchet and clank size matters- Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror- Call of duty 4 Modern warfare- Rainbow Six 3 weapon guide- Rome Total War- Rome Total War Barbarian Invasion- Call of duty 2 modern Warfare- Medieval 2 total war- Call of Duty Black Ops- _____________________________________________________________________________ / \ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------Credits [CS23]--------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- \_____________________________________________________________________________/ 1.
