My first guide was rejected and I haven't bothered to correct it, so, this is my first guide on GameFAQs from now on. I had this game installed on my PC for some time, precisely 10 months, because I got stuck somewhere and almost gave up on playing it again. But, I had some free time, and decided to give it a try on finishing of this game. And then, I got stuck again. I dislike using guides while playing because it ruins enjoym- ent of the game, but sometime this is necessary to keep nerves calm. And then, there was some great guide made by Ronrob and Becky that helped me a lot. As I noticed there was a lot of things that I missed to do or read, and that way I lost also some important facts of the story. However, game itself is very co- nfusing at some points, and likely finnished in hurry, which made story itself incomplete. It also contains a lot of bugs, where the most irritating were the ones you had to move Lea to another place, and she gets in moving loop. Luckily this can be solved by saving and reloading game. At one point, I had hardships of losing the sight of the story itself, and that made it harder to achieve and pass to next stage. That is why I made this guide to cover it for the sake of the ones that still cannot find a solution. What made my problems was that trial with Tyriades generals. I sincerely hope that anyone will find this guide useful. Cheers and good luck! =============================================================================== [2] Preparations [2] =============================================================================== :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Pheromone Language:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: To begin, first, you must learn ways of the pheromone language. Tyriades world beigns communicate exchanging with different types of pheromones. That is common language insects use, but it is much more developed in The Experiment. Info can be found in files of dr Paul Guirnisch, some info can be found in files of the other membeers, but he is pheromone expert, and his info is the most usefull. Among many files this is most basic info: THE FRIENDLY PROTOCOL CONSISTS OF TWO STEPS: First, one must identify one's self by indicating one's caste, then specify one's state, or one's mood. Numerous experiments have permitted the creation of the list of states. They come in pairs : state A and the opposite state B. The inventory of known states follows : (A) Conciliating / (B) Aggressive (A) Curious / (B) Disrespectful (A) Exalted / (B) Apathetic (A) Calm / (B) Nervous (A) Submissive / (B) Dominant Our study reveals that optimal responses, those preventing conflict, are those tagged as opposites. If a Tyriades expresses a type A state, the best response is that of a type B state. The perfect response is always the opposite state: it remains the only way to secure trust with the interlocutor in order to destabilize it. Tyriades themselves have more advanced way of communicating through pheromones, and Paul Guirnisch provides full explanation on that matter: **Because of document formating, I will have to use normal letters instead of greek letters. alpha=[A], beta=[B], gamma=[G], delta=[D], Epsilon=[E], omega=[O], Theta=[T]. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | emotions | effects | effects | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Pheromone | | on recipient | on Tyriades | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Alpha [A] | Pleasure | Reassure | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Beta [B] | Want | Use | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Gamma [G] | Joy | Validate | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Delta [D] | Enchantment | Search | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Epsilon [E] | Restraint | Wait | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [A]_[A] | Ecstasy | | Healing breath | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [B]_[B] | Desire | |Subulate Celicerae| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [G]_[G] | Euphoria | | Fluid Mass | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [D]_[D] | Wonderment | | Unique Elixir | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [D]_[D] | Temperance | | Unknown | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[A] | Shynes | Danger | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[B] | Langour | Abandon | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[G] | Melancholy | Infirm | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[D] | Fear | Escape | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[E] | Impatience | Proceed | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[A]_[A] | Pain | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[B]_[B] | Disgust | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[G]_[G] | Sadness | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[D]_[D] | Terror | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | [O]_[E]_[E] | Aggressiveness | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [A]_[G] | | | Conciliating | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [B]_[D] | | | Curious | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [G]_[E] | | | Exalted | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [D]_[A] | | | Calm | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [E]_[B] | | | Submissive | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [O]_[A]_[G] | | | Aggressive | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [O]_[B]_[D] | | | Disrecpetful | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [O]_[G]_[E] | | | Apathetic | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [O]_[D]_[A] | | | Nervous | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * [O]_[E]_[B] | | | Domineering | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * This is the only part of interest to you!!! The simpliest way to explain all of this: - When Tyriade General asks his first quiestion, it will be what caste do you belong and it is marked with pheromones [B][B]. What you have is to response to them with pheromones [A][A]. - Whatever they ask, you must answer them oposite. Other ansvers may give you some points, but oposite will always be the best one rated. Basic is in crucial use of omega that negates everything said. If General asks you, for example [B][O][A], you must answer with [A][B]. Else if he asks some- thing like [G][E] you'll need to answer with [O][G][E]. I hope you get the point. You also need to know this: - When more Generals ask their question everyones first will always be [B][B]. - Order of the letters is unimportant. It will not affect meaning of the word. So if you use [A][B] or [B][A], or something with three letters like [O][E][B] or [E][B][O] or [E][O][B], meaning will still be the same. With this advices, your knowledge in tyrides pheromone language is complete. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Language Pack:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Letters are typed in the Language Pack that can be opened through menu or by pressing B button on your keyboard. It looks something like this: ------------------------------------------------------------ | A B G D E O T x | ------------------------------------------------------------ | | | | | ----- | | | 3 | | | ----- | | | | ----- - --- ---- --- ----- | | | 1 | | 0 | | I | | II | |III| | 2 | | | ----- - --- ---- --- ----- | | | | RESULTING PHEROMONE | ------------------------------------------------------------ - You enter the pheromone by clicking the A, B, G, D, E or O button. - Theta [T] button is yet to be implemented and you will not use it. - Pheromone you choose will be shown in boxes 1, 2 or 3. - Box 3 is reserved for O only, and other pheromones will fill up boxes 1 or 2 - By clicking inside of the box, you can remove chosen pheromone. - Combination of the pheromones will be shown at the bottom, where RESULTING PHEROMONE is written. - Buttons 0, I, II and III, are used for pheromone level. For generals you will always use level 3(marked with III). ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Conversation::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Conversation is being done by turning on pheromone addon on your PORTABLE camera, You can enable it in other camera as well, but you will be more focused on portable one. It can be enabled by clicking PHEROMONE button in camera window or by clicking CAMERA button in menu, and presing PHEROMONE option. When you cross one of the general with your camera, he will be marked within gray box. In that box you will see boxes with letters. Orange boxes are questions that general asks, and in the white boxes are your answers. [+] means that he adds another question, [-] means that he is half-satisfied and [--] means that your answer completely satisfies him. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Working area::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Next important part of preparations is aranging your game for easier manipu- lations. - You absolutely have to disable SNAP TO GRID option and enable FREE MODE option in options menu (shorcut Z or Y). This way you'll be able to move your language pack window next to portable camera window. You will be able to react faster this way. - Also, you have to resize portable camera window to smallest size and you will gain some extra manuvering. - Side camera that focuses on all generals can be used to follow questions order. That is only meant to help you, but you will be more focused on portable camera. Generals will release colored clouds above their heads, and that way you'll be able to track who is next to be answered. That is nicely seen with that camera. With this I conclude preparations. You also must be relaxed for countless tries that will come, but wit this guide you can will be halfway ready. =============================================================================== [3] Action [3] =============================================================================== - After mutilated man says that you need to be questioned, Lea will be brought to small island and surounded like this: TG2 TG3 TG1 TS TS Lea mutilated man TG4 TG5 TG1 - Tyriade general 1 TG2 - Tyriade general 2 TG3 - Tyriade general 3 TG4 - Tyriade general 4 TG5 - Tyriade general 5 TS - Tyriade Soldier ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Questioning runs in three circles: For the first circle only TG1 asks questions. Second circle TG2 and TG3 will ask you questions in this order: 2-3-2-3-2-3 For the third circle Lea is being questioned by TG3, TG4 and TG5 in order: 3-5-4-3-5-4-3-5-4. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Between circles Lea will always give a positive comment. Mutilated man will say what to be expected in the next circle, and circle will start. - To repeat myself again, don't try to find some meaning in what they ask. Answer oposite to what they say by adding or removing [O](omega) from their "words" depending if there is two or three leters in the question. It there are two input letters from question and add [O], if there are three choose two and skip [O]. - ALWAYS use level III pheromones - Even if you fail to answer, you'll not fail completely, just have to start everything again. TG1 will indefinitely loop his question until you answer him corectly. - Order of the questioning may vary. If you by accident miss someone to answer he will wait for some time, the others will continue their questioning normaly. If you don't answer to him in time, you'll have to start all over again. - The greatest problem in the third circle is camera. It is very slow, and you may miss TG4 or TG5 because it tends to fall down. But there is solution to that. Once you finish with the second circle (Lea will comment "three to go") Type [A][A] immediately and wait for the TG3s question. Answer to him, and type [A][A] again. Point camera to TG5 and wait for his question. Throw your answer and prepare next [A][A]. This will be harder because camera tends to fall down and you will miss to answer. So While you hold your camera on TG4 zoom in using scroll key. Camera will be fixed on TG4 and you will be able to throw him your answer. Zoom out again, and go to TG3 to prepare your answer. Circle will go again and when it comes to TG4 just use zoom in method. - I noticed that during the third circle TG2 and TG1 throw out some clouds, asking something. This is most probably a bug, so try to ignore it. - You have limited time to answer a question. That is about 3-5 seconds, but you absolutely don't have to check the meaning of any word you see. Vocabulary is very, very limited. You will not find any meaning in their conversation. Just focus on what they throw at you. - Due crappy controls, it may happen to lose inputing some of your characters and send wrong message. If you are fast enough, send message again, and it will be accepted. Only last message, before general sends [+], counts. Also, it may happen to "loose" your message completely while pressing level of the message. Try to keep tracking camera that focuses on all generals. You will see your pheromone balls if you DID sent them. Othervise, try to send message again. =============================================================================== [4] Regards [4] =============================================================================== Thanks to: -GameFAQs for posting my guide, -Nicolas Delaye and Lexis Numérique studio for making this game, -The Adventure Company for releasing this game, -Microsoft for making Windows XP, -Ronrob and Becky for making their walkthrough for this game, it was really helpfull.
