END0000000001 INT0000000000 =========================================================================== Introduction =========================================================================== Leisure Suit Larry 5 is the fourth (and not the fifth) game that appeared in the Leisure Suit Larry franchize. There is a lot of mistery why Larry 4 does not exist so that the fourth game was not Larry 4 but Larry 5. The most popular myth says that Al Lowe, the big guy behind Larry, always swore never to make a "Larry 4" game, but that the fans kept insisting another game had to be made and that "Larry 5" had to be the compromize as there was no "Larry 4", but yet the fans had their new Larry game. Before we start, we all know that Leisure Suit Larry games focus most of all on sex. If you play the game perfectly then both playable characters will be having sex. Not that you actually see the "vital" parts, but still I have to note that this game is therefore not suited for children. When it comes on the game itself, well, maybe this FAQ is not needed that much as nearly ALL puzzles can be skipped, but that's no fun, now is it? So this FAQ will make you see most of the game. This game runs well on both DosBOX as ScummVM, I already had my copy from the time this game was still for sale on floppies, so I really don't know how well the possibilities are when it comes get a legal copy. Don't think abandonware is a legal way to do this! INT0000000001 =========================================================================== Abandonware. Myths and facts =========================================================================== Abandonware as we think we know it, is as far as more than 90% of the old games are concerned NOT a legal concept. Many people think that the original publishers abandoned their old games as they are no longer truly markettable and that nobody will care if you download them, and some people even believe this is legal due to the game's old age. I hate to disappoint you, but ALL OF THAT IS A LIE! A few commercial games were indeed released for free to use in emulators such as ScummVM or DosBOX ("Flight of the Amazon Queen" is a famous example of that), however there is only a very small group of game developers who have given away that stuff for free, and unfortunately none of the Larry games were released like that. So unless the current copyright holder announces otherwise, this game cannot be downloaded freely. PERIOD! It is true that copyrights will expire over time. When the copyright holder is a living person or a small group of independent people, the rights expire 70 years after the last of them has died. In Larry's case, the copyrights are in the hands of a company which counts by law as an "immortal person" the copyrights will expire 70 years after the game's initial release. Since LSL5 was released in 1991, the copyrights will expire in at the end of 2061 AND NOT ONE MOMENT SOONER! So after 2061 has ended the copyrights will expire and then the game will be public domain. Don't mail me or message me or try to contact me with anything saying I could be wrong, as that will mean that you (unlike me) did not do your homework very well when it comes to copyrights, and I as a novel writer whose work can be ordered or bought in any bookstore in the Netherlands, did have to dig into this material. Oh yeah, don't get me on my country either, as copyright has been set up internationally so the core of the matter is the same in all countries were copyrights are part of the law. INT0000000002 =========================================================================== How to use this FAQ =========================================================================== The game is set up in chapters though not officially numbers as chapters. In chapter 1 you play as Larry. In chapter 2 you play as Patti. In chapter 3 you play as Larry. In chapter 4 you play as Patti. And so on, et cetera, und so weither, en zo voorts. Except for the starting and closing chapters the chapters can be played in random order, so that makes my life as a FAQ writer hell. For the good of this FAQ I'll set the order the same in this FAQ as I took them on. *:> When you a line start like this, I'm in a new location, and I'll name the location (in the HTML version of this FAQ in ITALIC). These names are not official, but it gets you the idea where you have to be. = And on this way = I'll tell you = step by step = what you have = to do. Well, easy as can be, ain't it? INT0000000003 =========================================================================== Characters =========================================================================== *:> Leisure Suit Larry A plain loser, who thinks he knows everything about women, and that he's heaven to every girl who may have the pleasure of spending the night with him. Truth is that he knows nothing at all, and that all woman deem him a nightmare and try to dispose of him in a very cruel manner. Sometimes he's lucky to find an extremely oversexed girl wanting to perform the deed with him, but mostly that ends up in a plain disaster for him. Due to his totally horrific image with the ladies, he was the execellent choice to search for the sexiest woman in the USA, as his boss wants a girl so oversexed, that she would fuck any guy no matter how moronic, lame or ugly. *:> Silas Scruemall Larry boss. Famous for his open door policy. Open his door unasked and you're fired. *:> Michelle Milke A girl Larry has to seduce. She likes to go to the Hard Disk Cafe in New York City. *:> Lana Luscious Another girl for Larry to seduce. She can be found on the promenade near the casino. She's a mud wrestler *:> Chi Chi Lambada And yet another girl for Larry to secude. She's works at a dental clinic and appears to be a sportswoman as well. *:> Passionate Patti Larry's true love interest. It's a miracle the two are a couple as Patti is everything Larry is not. She's hot, gorgeous and all the men are lined up hoping to even touch here, or even better to have sex with her. Patti will be hired to secretly investigate some producers. *:> Inspector Desmond Patti's boss in her undercover work *:> Commander Twit Leader of the secret lab where the gadgets you need will be provided *:> Dr. Hopian A doctor who places a transmitter in Patti's.... well, you know where. (after all you know what kind of series this is). *:> Reverse Biaz A record producer *** LEISURE SUIT LARRY *** WLK0000000000 =========================================================================== LARRY: Los Angeles - Scruemall's office =========================================================================== *:> Scruemall's office - Lobby = Pick up the coffee and see what happens and after a long and boring talk you're back here in the lobby. (if you skipped this intro, this step can possibly be skipped as well). = You can have a drink from the fresh water dispenser (you don't need to, but it scores you points). = Go to the back room west *:> Tape storage = Pick up the tapes next to the screen up front (the others cannot be picked up) = Use all three of them on the degauser = Open the drawer left to get a recharger = Disinfect your hands with the disinfector = Leave *:> Lobby = Open the door north *:> Archive closets = Open the top drawer on the most right closet up front and you'll get three files. = Look at the three files and collect the items they contain = Get the AeroDork Gold Card from the desk = Leave *:> Lobby = Exit East *:> Garden = Enter the limo and you'll automatically end up on the airport *:> Airport - Outside Now listen closely, as I will say this only once. The order is the order in which I took them on for this FAQ, and I ALWAYS STARTED AT THE TOP LOCATION ON THE AIRPORT SCREEN = Examine the screen = Buy a ticket to New York = Enter the code (copy protection, so I cannot write that into this FAQ). = Take the board pass = And your gold card = Enter the airport building *:> Airport - Center = Show the aerodork gold card to the camera *:> Airport - Gate = Wait until the "NOW BOARDING" light starts flashing = Use the boarding pass on the reader and you'll get into the plane *** PASSIONATE PATTI *** WLK0000000001 =========================================================================== PATTI: FBI Headquarters =========================================================================== Now we have a long (and boring) sequence, but you gotta sit it out or you can skip ahead, as the story is not worth it anyway. After all that you'll be in the secret lab, as you need your gadgets. ;) *:> Lab - West = Examine the people with working on that strange bra (very important item, but you cannot get it yet) = Examine that little man in lab coat = Exit East *:> Lab - East = Sit out the chat with Commander Twit and remember the phone number: 556-2779, the other numbers or codes Twit mentions are not important. = Examine the long haired man with the labcoat = Hit the door East and eventually you'll be back in the lab. *:> Lab - East = Pick up the yellow "thing" next to the computer = Pick up the cartridges *:> Lab - West = PICK UP THE GUN BRA! VERY IMPORANT YOU CANNOT FINISH THE GAME WITHOUT IT AND THIS IS YOUR ONLY CHANCE TO GET IT! = Wear the gun-bra *:> Outside = Enter the limo *:> Limo = If you want you can call Desmond with the phone number: 556-2779 = Put the cartridge for Dez Reverse into the Dataman = Show the Dataman to the driver *** LEISURE SUIT LARRY *** WLK0000000002 =========================================================================== LARRY: New York City - Hard Disk Cafe =========================================================================== *:> Airport - Gate = Exit South *:> Airport - Center DON'T LEAVE THE AIRPORT YET, THERE'S STILL WORK TO BE DONE BEFORE YOU LEAVE! = Search the donation box to find a quarter = Exit West *:> Airport - West = Plug the regarger in = Put the camcorder in it = Wait awhile = Check the recharger if the camcorder is fully reload it unplug everything = Put an empty tape in the recorder (BUT DON'T TURN IT ON YET!) = Read the center billboard on the north wall = Exit East x2 *:> Airport - East = Put a quarter in the telephone = Dial: 552-4668 = Exit West *:> Airport - Center = Exit SOuth *:> Airport - Outside = Enter the limo *:> Limo = Get the calendar lying here = Open it to get some cash (and a useless credit card) = Show the driver Michelle's napkin *** HARD DISK CAFE *** *:> Hard Disk Cafe - Outside WARNING! If you didn't pick up the Day Throtter (calendar) in the limo you'll be stuck here... FOREVER! = Al says: "Now would be an excellent timefor you to save your game, Larry." Do you agree with him? = Enter the building *:> Hard Disk Cafe - Lobby = Speak to the maitre d' and keep bugging him until he gives you a ticket into the restaurant = Take the ticket from the computer = Use the ticket on the computer and you'll get in the next room (if the computer is bugging you, move Larry away from it and try it again). *:> Hard Disk Cafe - Track 45 Sector 4F = Sit down at the vacant table = Wait until Michelle passes by = Once she moved to the next room stand up and use your ticket on the computer (it won't let you pass) = Exit South *:> Hard Disk Cafe - Lobby = Speak to the Maitre d' but this time he seems determined not to do your bidding no matter how much you whine. = Give him the credit card and he'll give in = Get the new ticket from the computer and use it to move on *:> Hard Disk Cafe - Track 45 Sector 4F = Use the ticket on the computer. The computer will not return it any more, but at least you can now see Michelle :) *:> Hard Disk Cafe - Herman Hollerith Room = Now first turn on your camcorder = Talk to Michelle and keep talking to her (also when you were allowed to join her) and sooner or later she'll do to you... well see for yourself :) *:> Hard Disk Cafe - Lobby = Use the telephone = Dial 552-4668 = Leave this dull restaurant *:> Hard Disk Cafe - Outside = Enter the limo and you'll be brought back to the airpoirt *:> Airport I'll cut this short = Buy a ticket to Atlantic City and get past the copy protection = Show your card to the camera and use your boarding pass when you can board. *** PASSIONATE PATTI *** WLK0000000003 =========================================================================== PATTI: Dez Rever Records =========================================================================== Now this part is disappointingly easy for any seasoned adventure game player. Not even a total beginner would have any trouble getting this done (unfortunately). Let's get this on the move shall we. *:> Dez Rever Records - Outside = Al says: "Now would be an excellent timefor you to save your game, Patti." Do you agree with him? = Enter the place *:> Reception = Look at the board next to the elevator = Click with the "eye" icon on "des Rever Records" = Talk to the receptionist twice (yes, he's sleeping but Patti will automatically wake him up). *:> Lobby = Just click on the door in the back and Patti will automatically make her way to it *:> Recording Studio = Hit the synthesizer = Now you'll get three takes in order to play the music right. Unless you know the melody well and know how to play synthesizer with the mouse, expect yourself to mess this up in the first two takes. In take 3 Patti will automatically play the correct tune. = Now keep taking to Reverse Biaz until Patti will give him a "recording" he'll never forget. :) *:> Limo = Remove the cartridge from the dataman and put P.C. Hammer's cartridge in = Show the Dataman to the driver *** LEISURE SUIT LARRY *** WLK0000000004 =========================================================================== LARRY: Atlantic City - Tramp Casino =========================================================================== *:> Airport - Gate = South *:> Airport - Center = West *:> Airport - West = Examine the slot machines and you'll win a quarter = Use the recharger to recarge your cam-corder = After it full unplug it and put a new empty tape into it, but don't turn it on yet. = East *:> Airport - Center = Read the center board to obtain the number of the Limo Service = East *:> Airport - East = Use the telephone = Dial: 553 - 4468 = West *:> Airport - Center = South *:> Airport - Outside = Enter the limo *:> Limo = Show the driver the matches *** TRAMP CASINO *** *:> Casino - Outside = Al says: "Now would be an excellent timefor you to save your game, Larry." Do you agree with him? = Speak to the blonde chick = If she asks you to guess the number she's thinking of, just type any number you want and it'll always be correct and she'll give you $10 play money = Enter the casino *:> Casino - Inside = Play at one of the poker slot machines = Basically any poker combination wins money (a pair only when it's a Jack or higher). Basically just save if you win, restore a game when you lose and try to win about $1000 or so. If you run out of cash you can always get another $10 from the blonde chick outside = Exit North *:> Casino - Stage = Pay $25 to the bouncer = Move forward and you'll have a seat. = Just look at the girl to see how pretty she is (just part of the show in this game that's all). = If you want you can try to talk to her (on warning, the game did crash on me. It happened only once to me, but I had to note it). = After the show go all the way outside *:> Casino - Outside = Exit East *:> Promenade = Keep going east until you find a roller skate shop = Enter it *:> Ivana Skates = Go to the desk and the shopkeeper will come = Give her $250 in order to rent some skates = NOW SAVE YOUR GAME! Some bugs can cause you to render this part impossible to complete. Whenever that happens you can either skip this entire part by going back to the airport, or reload a savegame. = Leave the store *:> Promenade = Set on any bench you can find = Put on your skates = Skate around until you find Lana. Don't go too far, this promenade is infinite and when you go too far from the casino you're not likely to meet anybody at all any more. = As soon as you find her talk to her, don't take too long or she'll go away being forever lost to you (in that case, see my point above). = Keep talking to Lana until she invites you to join her on stage and go away = Go back to the Casino (it's up to you if you want to return the skates to the rental store or not, it does score points and a small refund). *:> Casino Outside = Enter the casino and go to the stage *:> Casino - Stage = Turn on your cam-corder = Give money to the bouncer and say "Lemme at 'em" = Now Lana will appear and call you onto the stage = During the fight Lana's body parts will appear on the screen, click on them with the hand icon and she'll get more and more horney (and if you have digitized sound on you'll hear that too), keep doing that until she's gonna take you, or at least... :) *:> Casino - Outside = Speak to the guy and ask him to call a Limo which will promptly appear (you'll give the guy all your play bucks you've left) = Enter the limo to back to the airport *:> Airport = Buy a ticket to Miami and get yourself onto the plane. *** PASSIONATE PATTI *** WLK0000000005 =========================================================================== PATTI: K-RAP =========================================================================== Well, of course you can just skip ahead by entering the limo again and end this part, but that is no fun. This is one of the few "harder" parts of the game. No big deal for an experienced adventure game player, but still there is some actual puzzling here. *:> Outside = Al says: "Now would be an excellent timefor you to save your game, Patti." Do you agree with him? = Enter the building *:> Reception = Read the dataman to find a code = Use the keypad next to the door and type code: 45954 = Open the door to go to the next room (this will mean you cannot get out any more until you completed this part) *:> Office = Take the letter opener from the desk = Use the opener to crack open the desk to find some cool stuff. = Click on the desk with the hand and you'll find a code = Do it again and you'll find a file = Use the file on the copier = Return the original file to the desk = Put the letter opener back onto the desk = Hit the west door *:> Bathroom = Use the shower (at least it looks like one.... oops) *:> Studio = Grab the clothes next to the "shower" = Exit East *:> = Use the keypad on the left door = Enter the code: 42160 = Open the door to enter *:> Recording room = Use the sliders until you hear voices on the speakers in a very interesting conversation = Take some tapes from the shelves in the back = Start recording (PC Hammer will see what you are doing, and block the door). = Stop the recording and rewind the tape = Pick up the tape you need as evidence = Keep using the sliders until they are recording the room you are in = Use the talk icon on the mic to scream making the window break and you'll automatically get away from here. *** LEISURE SUIT LARRY *** WLK0000000006 =========================================================================== LARRY: Miami - Dr. Pulliam's =========================================================================== *:> Airport - Gate = South *:> Airport - Hall = Examine the vending machine in the west portion to find a quarter = Don't forget to recarge your cam-corder = Also put the last empty tape in it, and yeah, don't turn it on yet. = Read the most right board in the center section to get the number of the Limo service = Use the phone in the east and call: 554-1272 = Go outside and enter the limo *:> Limo = Show the business card to the driver *** Dr. Pulliam's *** *:> Outside = Al says: "Now would be an excellent timefor you to save your game, Larry." E-mail addresses shown in public are always only shown because some websites require me to and which are as a result of that overflooded with spam and therefore never dug through. In other words, your mail will very likely NEVER be seen at all! Some websites have an internal personal message system. GameFAQs has that system for example. Problem is I only visit GameFAQs to host my FAQs because they are the biggest medium for FAQs and when I got nothing to upload, you'll hardly see me there, so your messages there will also very likely not reach me at all. When you see this FAQ on sites other than my own or GameFAQs, it's very likely I don't even know it's hosted there, and due to the Creative Commons license, hey I don't even have to know :) So, if you have any questions or remarks regarding my FAQs, please go to my own FAQ site at: http://faq.tbbs.nl and make your comment or your question right there. When you post there, I will always know immediately and very likely I will answer in only a few days, if you are lucky even the same day. Oh yeah not to sound arrogant or anything, but I'll give you a glimpse of some mails/comments/spam I received in the past on my FAQs and those are the kind of messages that will most likely not get answered. Here I give you my reply at forehand! *:> Not to be rude but you know NOTHING about this game? = Not to be rude, but you write NOTHING I have to know about this game. = I also need you to know that most games I wrote FAQs on have been played over and over about 20 times or more, and games I played less, will very likely get a FAQ update after another 10 or 20 playthroughs. I'm just an idiot for doing that, but I like doing that) :P *:> You did not cover even half you should cover = Then give me the other half *:> Me gustan tus FAQs = Yo no comprendo = In other words only send your mails in English or Dutch.
