INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill' for the PC, an adventure game released by Her Interactive in 1999. Suggestions, comments or errors - email me about it. Enjoy! =============================================================================== 02.) BASICS G0200 =============================================================================== You control the game mainly with the mouse. Interact with objects when the magnifying glass become red, move if it is blue. You can also use the directional keys to move left, right and look up/down. Note that if you open a chest or drawer you will also have to close it again to move along. I won't mention this in the walkthrough at each instance. There are many more features the game holds the walkthrough does not mention, as there are already solved for you and therefore more or less extra contents. The game offers three different difficulty levels. They do not alter the crime solving in any way, but instead make the puzzles harder as mentioned above. If you do not solve these puzzles (as the walkthrough) then you don't need to worry about the levels. The sliding puzzle in Aunt Eloise's House for example, is bigger if you play on a harder difficulty setting. Finally, a note about talking to characters. Whenever you talk to one person they will most likely reveal something about another. After completing all options with one person, try to talk to him/her again as they sometimes just brush you off if they get annoying with the conversation topic. Speaking to them again may have more talking points. Then move on to the next person and they will probably have more to talk about at this point. Continue doing so until they all just give you the "Bye!" or "Talk to you later." kind of choices. This means it is time to find more evidence before starting up another conversation with anyone. =============================================================================== 03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300 =============================================================================== Aunt Eloise's House: ```````````````````` Enter the living room. In front of you, open the drawer and read the notepad as well as the card. Open the letter and read that too. Pick up the remote control. On the right, look at the row of books on the right of the TV. Inside a book is a key. Using this key, open the chest next to it and pick up the quarter. Return to the entrance and move the tapestry in the corner. Use the combination lock to open the safe. The combination was on letter header you read previously. Think of the symbols as the characters below. Input 5 4 6 9. ------- |1 2 3 4| |5 6 7 8| |9 A B C| ------- Take the right key from inside the door and leave the house. Paseo Del Mar High School: `````````````````````````` Get used to the corridors. You'll be walking through them a lot and it may be confusing at first. After a couple of walks through the campus it shouldn't be too hard anymore. First find the locker near the cafeteria. It has some police banners across the door. Open the combination with 5 2 5 3 and read all three items on the top shelf including the English book, judo magazine and the VCR tape cover. Look down beyond the jacket and read the newspaper article about a recent burglary. Pick up the knife and close the locker. Next to Hulk near the gym is a judo poster, read it. Then talk to him about everything. On the other side of the building, talk to Hal in the study dome. Next find Connie in the magazine reading room. Enter the library. Go right to the 'Reference' area and look at the upper left row of Encyclopedia Americana. Open volume 'K' to read about Kanji characters. Return to Hulk, then Hal and Connie once more. Continue until they run out of things to say. Maxine's Diner: ``````````````` Talk to Daryl at the counter about everything. Paseo Del Mar High School: `````````````````````````` Walk to the windows on the right from the entrance, then look at the left-most window. Use the knife to cut a hole and open it. Inside the teacher's lounge, read the file in the cabinet about Hal. Return to Hal, then talk to Connie and Hulk once more until they all run out of things. Maxine's Diner: ``````````````` Talk to Daryl at the counter about everything. He should be giving you a note at the end of the conversation. Read it. (If not, return to the school and talk to all of them again before heading back to Daryl.) Paseo Del Mar High School: `````````````````````````` Find the maintenance room near Connie. The brail keypad represents the following letters: ------- |T H O N| |J A K E| |M L U C| ------- Input N O T E to open the door. Travel down the elevator and now move quickly. Open the tool box on the left and take out the gloves. Close the tool box and use the gloves on the combination lock. Use the code 1 9 6 7 to unlock it. Still moving quickly, turn the levers in the following way: LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT LEFT. Now you can relax again. If you blew up, just try again. Examine the matchbook on the right side next to a cup from Maxine's Diner. Open the vent on the right of the boiler. Climb through, pick up the tape and continue until you are out of the building. Aunt Eloise's House: ```````````````````` Open the TV cabinet and switch it on with the remote control. Insert the newly found tape and watch it all the way through. Maxine's Diner: ``````````````` Talk to Daryl at the counter about everything. Paseo Del Mar High School: `````````````````````````` Talk to Hulk, Hal and finally Connie about the new evidence. Make sure Connie says she cannot help out. Vandelay Pharmacy: `````````````````` Watch the scene. As soon as you pick up the gun, click on it to turn your cursor into a gun icon. When the fight starts, use the gun on M. as soon as the killer turns towards you. If you are too late you have to restart from before the fight. It may take a few attempts to get this right, but it's not too much to replay. Congratulations on finishing the game! =============================================================================== YY.)
