Welcome to the FAQ/WALTHROUGH of the Sci Fi Shooter, Section 8. In this guide, I'll run your through the entire single player mode, as well as teach you some tips to keep you alive in the hectic multiplayer. Buck up, soldier, you have a mission to accomplish! ================================================= |\ |-------------------0 / [GAMEPLAY TIPS]--------------------- [TIP] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- When wide open, you'll be vulnerable to enemy fire, and really vulnerable to snipers. You can, in this situation, try to frantically search for cover, boot their to aid you in that task, take out the enemies that have you targeted (this works best with boosting if they aren't airborne, and by locking on. Also, toss grenades to keep them busy as you advance to them, or run for cover/away. Remember that the enemy can boost just as well as you, be it online or offline in the single player, so for the most part, you'll want to avoid being out in the open if you don't have any guys backing you up. --- Always look for cover. You may or may not have the upper hand in weapon loadout. You may or may not be running into an ambush. You may or may not be locked on be an enemy. You may or may not be being sniped. Since there are so many unknowns, the best way to succeed in combat, both close quarters, and long range, is to constantly hide behind cover, and scope out cover before you go on the offensive. Rocks, turrets, allies, structures, you should have a sixth sense for these things, as cover is easily the difference between life and death. --- Spray and pray? I don't think so. Though this game may have a learning curve, blindly firing in a panic never helped anyone. If you are ambushed, and have no where to go...you are probably going to die. The way to move probability in your favor is to either boost and lock on to the immediate threat, or alternate leaps as you move away, or over the enemy. Mix in grenade tosses to keep the enemy busy and keep mobile. Hey, you just might be the one ambushing them! --- ================================================== WALKTHROUGH |\ |-------------------0 / [Operation: First Contact ]---------------- [OP1] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- Alright, let's get this show on the road. When things start off, you're gonna have to set your difficulty, and move through the little control tutorial section. There's mayhem and chaos all around you, but don't be scared; I'm here. That and the fact that you're armed to the teeth with sleek weaponry. Move around to get a feel for the controls at your own pace, and walk around the area if you like. Move towards your squad, and pay attention to the command you are given: capture the Central control. No, you can't bound and gag control central and kidnap it in the usual sense, but yes you will do your share of gun toting. Follow your men, and you'll eventually come across a bunch of foes. Don't stand in the way of their fire, hide behind the rocks, and use whatever cover you can as opposed to running in guns blazing. Time your shots, and focus on one to a couple of enemies at a time. Your friends are just that-friends, so don't shoot them. Head left after you take those guys out, and then you'll be told to deactivate cannons. Cross the bridge that's nearest to you, and aid your friends who are engaging the enemies. Remember to take cover. Hide and wait to recover if you've soaked up too many shots, but don't feel too secure, as enemies tend to rush you and take you out as you're tending to your boo boos. After they've been taken out, things go boom, and then you'll have to move towards the South central cannon. Your objectives change, but you'll always know what to do, or at least, where to go if you pay attention to the map, and the distance estimator, that let's you know how far away you are, from where you ought to be. Keep this in mind, as it helps throughout the entire campaign. Move onwards to where you need to go, according to the distance, and map. Hold the button prompt to hack the station. When done with all that, you pirate, you...turn back and then move to the area you were in previously, with the enemies. There will be more enemies who want to greet you and exchange cooking recipes. Return the favor by filling them with lead alongside your allies. Press along to your objective as well as take them out. You're headed for the ammo storage facility place type of facility. Some people call it ammo storage facility for short. I call it whatever I want to call it. Well, in the time it took you to read that, the enemies should be taken out, and so press on to the facility of facilities. You want to see me say facility one more time? FACILITY! Anyway, move along to the generators. Move past the bridge, and then head up the sand. You'll be told to do something when you approach the generator facility. Take out the enemies there and then blow the generators to high hell. Remember to stick to cover, and be all tactical-like. You've got squad members aiding you, so this fight shouldn't be too difficult if you use the surroundings to your advantage. When you destroy the three generators, head to the next place that you're instructed to go to. You'll have to follow someone to take out more cannons, your commander, to be exact. He's not too keen on taking his time, and waiting for you, so keep up, will ya? When you get to the new area, the commander will add his two cents to the situation and instruct you to boost. Do so, and use that to get the advantage over the enemy, but be careful, as you don't have as many allies with you from before, and there are a lot of enemies. Since there will be a haphazard amount of bullets flying from everywhere, you'll need to stick to cover more often than before. Do so, and be weary of the shots you take. Take your time, and don't get too trigger happy, and expect everyone to just die, without you taking damage in the process. This should be the strategy to employ for open areas, will enemies coming out from multiple sources. Stick to cover, and try not to get into a spot where a lot of shots are easily traversable to your noggin. Oh, I forgot to mention that the enemies can boost too! Take them out one by one, no Rambosity here. Your commander can give you health boosts, so keep that in mine. When you take the enemies out, move on to the three capacitors, you might have to do some searching to find them all. There's one down the ramps to take not of. After the capacitors are incapacitated, watch the scene, and then follow the leader to the new point of interest. There'll be another cutscene, and then you'll be combating a mech robot. Since he's bigger than you, you want to use your speed to your advantage. Strafe around, or move behind him and unload shots into him and keep this up as he tries to turn to attack you.. Don't get too close to the mech, though, as his grab attacks can do some damage. Keep your distance and keep firing, and watch for when it charges. Keep this up and this bad boy will go down soon. And that's it for this mission. # # ## ## # #### #### # #### # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # # #### #### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # #### #### # #### # # ##### # # #### # # ##### # ###### ##### ###### # # # ## ## # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # ##### # ##### # # # # # ##### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ##### #### # # # ###### ###### # ###### |\ |-------------------0 / [Operation: Black Box]--------[OP2] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- Move along to with your men to the area of gathering. You're gonna be delving into enemy lines, so first, you're gonna wanna disable the sensors. After you guys meet up, and greet each other, and ask about the kids, move downwards towards your destination. There are enemies here, and so keep an eye out. They seem to attack you airborne, for the most part, so keep an eye to the skies. When you take the foes out, you'll need to head to the generator, and blow it the hell up. Now, move to the satellite thingies. The sensors are in that general area, and so you'll have to move in and stand next to them to hack them. This is best done when the coast is clear, since you have to be in one place, and are a sitting duck for enemies. When that's over, you can now move to the next objective, surveying a crash site. Move to the newly discovered area, oh and the map slightly opens up, making some previously un-traversable areas traversable. Move towards the baddies, and into the next cutscene. Now with your men (or regroup if you ventured to far) dispatch the foes you come across. Take cover, for there are a lot of enemies this time around. You'll want to make your first task finding a suitable safe spot to move to before actually doing some battling. Defend yourself if an enemy gets a crush on you, though. Do not move into the middle area, as it's a haven for enemies, and you'll basically be dead before you know it. Take your time shooting with your men, and take notice: there's a turret above you, so watch where you step and land. When the only thing you can hear is the sound of your breath, meaning that all enemies are dead, head over to the intel pieces and collect them. One can be found by paying attention to the cut scene you come across. The others are near some crates, and one is in the hangar, in the upper area. Now, you'll be interrupted after you've collected a number of pieces, and you'll be instructed to take the info back you your higher ups. Move to the cluster of enemies that wait for you. They don't appreciate the way you took out their brethren, and should be in the northern area of the map. Now, you'll want to deal with the turret as a main objective, then single out the other enemies for assault fire. There shouldn't be too much difficulty here, but don't stick your neck out in the open in view of enemy fire for too long. They'll go down soon, and when they do, you'll be able to look around for an object without fear. The object is a transmitter of sorts, and it can be found in one of the buildings. It's near the outskirts of the map, if you're having trouble locating it. A quick examine should do the trick. Now you'll have to head to another site fairly quickly. Don't waste anytime, run to the destination, as enemies share the same goal as you. Now you have a crane to protect, and are able to deploy some gifts to aid you. These gifts come in the form of turrets. Buy the turrets by pressing the appropriate on-screen prompts, and then place them where you like, and as many as you like, or rather, that you can spare, as they cost 40 pints. Now the concluding battle of this level involves dispatching waves of enemy forces as they come your way. Well placed turrets deal with the brunt of the problem, leaving you to move in and puncture any remaining/ problematic enemies with lead. The waves will pour in for a fair amount of time, but you should be done without breaking a sweat if you sit back, relax, and enjoy the bullet spraying. # # ## ## # #### #### # #### # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # # #### #### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # #### #### # #### # # ##### # # #### # # ##### # ###### ##### ###### # # # ## ## # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # ##### # ##### # # # # # ##### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ##### #### # # # ###### ###### # ###### |\ |-------------------0 / [Operation: Guardian ]--------------------- [OP3] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- Alright, you ready for this? Let's go. After the cut scene, move through the main path to a building that houses many enemies. Well, it's not exactly one building. But we'll take our battles in small bite sized chunks, thank you very much. Now, you won't have your teammates with you, so after crying a little, proceed with caution. Move along, and whichever path you chose to explore, there will be enemies. Move along into the warehouse, and then creep your way to the left, and then take out the incoming resistance. What you want to do here is take out as many sentries as you can from a distance before actually heading down into the fight. When you've taken out all you can, move down and aid your buddies. To get the control point to be on your side, stay near it for some time, and while the meter fills, you'll have to take out enemies. After the point has been taken over to the dark-erm, your side, move to the next main goal, the hacking of the terminals. There are six in total that you have to hack, and so head to the first ones that are close to you. Then move to the points near the area you passed to get to the first control point. Move through, and there will be a bunch of enemies waiting for you. Take them out one by one, and take cover, since there are probably a lot more for each you take down. You have to press on to get the enemies to stop spawning, so do so by careful suppression, and sticking to your men for only short whiles. Move through, and look to the walls to get to the next two terminals. Yeah..you kinda wanna hurry up and hack them....like quick. Use your map to find the terminals, if you are still having trouble. Next, head to the complex you protected at the beginning. The terminal is near the base. The next one is in the hanger, and you must use the feline walk to access it. -.......What? Why are you looking at me like that? Okay, catwalk, catwalk, you have to reach it via the catwalk. When you finish making like a pirate, the respawning enemies will cease to respawn, so you can move around picking off the ones that remain. You can now call in tanks via purchase. Do so, and then move to the drop to get into it. I'd recommend getting a feel for the tank controls for a bit before moving on. Now, move to the other side of the bridge, and then take out the cannons you come across. When you take the cannons out by method of slight strafing around the facility, hop out and hack the terminal. You'll then have control over the facility. Now that this place is yours, you're tasked with defending it. Head into the tank, and take out the wave of enemies that pour your way, trying to attack the complex. Ditch the tank if there are few enemies getting past, if you're not the best at controlling it, but for the most part, you should be okay. Keep this up, and you'll be done with this level eventually. If you want to hop out of the tank and get some fresh air, and load some fresh bullets into the enemies, feel free to do so. # # ## ## # #### #### # #### # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # # #### #### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # #### #### # #### # # ##### # # #### # # ##### # ###### ##### ###### # # # ## ## # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # ##### # ##### # # # # # ##### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ##### #### # # # ###### ###### # ###### |\ |-------------------0 / [Operation: Liberation ]--------------------- [OP4] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- Now, the action kinda begins right away, so make your entrance busting. Take note, and take out the turrets, then move along. The rocks make solid cover, so use them, and don't bite off more than you can chew, enemy-wise; a few to one at a time is good. Move into the opening and take out the single enemy if he hasn't already left to join his friends. This place poses for some good cover, and a chance to regenerate. Take out the surrounding enemies, and you'll probably also have to move out to find the remaining guys, and eliminate them. Next, move to your objective, and know that there'll be a lot of turrets. Foes will pop up as well. Zig zag your way to the turrets, and avoid enemy fire, before taking them and the foes out. The action isn't over, as though you might not see them, there are still enemies waiting for you, and they aren't friendly. Head up the stairs and try to stay near your men, or at least a good enough distant to them to rush back when you take enough damage- I'd proceed slowly if I were you. More turrets await, but aren't much of a problem. Take them out from afar, and then move into the control room, that sits at the top of the complex. It's not sitting alone, though, as there will be numerous guys waiting for you. Don't be afraid to run away and take them out in a more appropriate combat area to them just rushing you. Move into the room only when the guys have left. Deal with the terminal and them move to the next. I recommend sticking fairly close to your men in this case. The enemies will fight you in much the same method as before, so beware. Find cover, move to the sides if possible to get better aimed and timed shots, and take the enemies out in small doses. Move to the next level below, and take out the soldiers in the corresponding rooms. Pick up the explosives you'll come across, and then head to the defense controls. Place the explosives in the allocated place, and then move to help a convoy. Hurry over there (use your map to find out exactly where to go) and disable the force field thingy that's blocking the convoy. Take a head start to where the enemies are and take them out as the convoy catches up. Then you'll have to deal with a terminal. Once dealt with, move to the next force field that didn't learn from the first, and disable it. You shouldn't have to go too far to do so. When the force field goes down, move to the convoy's aid, and protect it from the onslaught of enemies. Move ahead of the convoy, but stay at a distance that's not too far, and one that will keep you in close proximity for your men. I stress that you shouldn't venture too far, but stay ahead and get the drop on the enemies, while you keep close to your men. Snipe if you have to, and don't fret if your men get grabbed, just an easier opportunity to impale the mech with bullets. In fact, you can use your men as scapegoats to do just that. Boost when you can, and try your best to keep the fire of of the convoy. You don't have to kill each enemy to succeed, but keep doing so, and keeping the fire off of the vehicles you have to protect for as long as you need to trigger the mission complete. That ends the mission. # # ## ## # #### #### # #### # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # # #### #### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # #### #### # #### # # ##### # # #### # # ##### # ###### ##### ###### # # # ## ## # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # ##### # ##### # # # # # ##### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ##### #### # # # ###### ###### # ###### |\ |-------------------0 / [Operation: Spearhead ]--------------------- [OP5] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- After the scenes, head up to seek out and destroy some generators. There will be some enemies waiting for you, mind you. Move to the complex near the left of the field, and watch for its main turret. Hide behind the bigger boulders for cover, and fight back against the turret before proceeding. Run along, and hop over the wall. It's possible to destroy the generator before entering the building if you can spot the opening, but if you've been breezing through so far, you can just head inside and do things the old fashioned way. Use your map to spot the rest of the generators, and watch your map for a turret as well. Take them out, and then you'll have to move to a new area. Move along to your next objective, head to high ground, from which you can boost overhead and locate the communications up link. Get there, and then hack the up link, and then the cavalry will come in. Take them the hell out, and take cover, then move on to the next up link. Proceed with caution, as you near the up link; there will be guys waiting for you. Take them out through cover, and sticking to your men should you take too much damage. Move in when the coast is clear, and then hack the next up link. Move along to your next objective, which involves blowing up a sensor. There should be an elevator that'll get you closer to your objective. It will come from above when you call for it, and then move you to the next area. Bring up the item selection and select the sensor. A timer will trigger, and you'll have to keep the sensor safe. As soon as you see enemies, take them out without any degree of hesitation, snipe or zoom into them and then keep alive for the duration of the timer. When the timer goes off, you can then beat the crap out of the enemies without a dire sense of urgency. When everyone's out of the picture, you'll be up against a fairly unique enemy, that's pretty challenging. Keep to cover, and your men, though, and there shouldn't be too much of a problem. Take your time, but don't wait an eternity taking the enemies out, since they can take back what you've taken from them. On the plus side? When the commando units are taken care of, you'll be done with the mission. # # ## ## # #### #### # #### # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # # #### #### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # #### #### # #### # # ##### # # #### # # ##### # ###### ##### ###### # # # ## ## # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # ##### # ##### # # # # # ##### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ##### #### # # # ###### ###### # ###### |\ |-------------------0 / [Operation: Cipher ]--------------------- [OP6] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- When you land, you'll be tasked with emptying out a bridge. Since you've been murdering enemy units this whole time, you can guess that you're not going to be clearing the place of scarabs, or dust mites. Anyway, move along and then take each and every one of the foes out without a second glance. Though may have to take out preliminary units to do that. Do so, and then raid the bridge with your men. You can either take them on full frontal, or maneuver your way to the turret and take it out first, then any surrounding men. After the place has been rid of enemies, you'll now need to move on to some generators. Clustered together, they're surrounded with numerous men, so when you head over there, stick with your men, and then take them out from safety. When the initial wave of enemies has been cleared, move to the generators and hack accordingly. After a number of them have been hacked, some more enemies will approach you. Remember to let your men take most of the damage from the mechs as you spray them untargetted. When the last guys go down, and the last terminal has been hacked, you'll need to move on to the next objective. Move to the buildings near a bridge in the distance, and position the array in a spot where it's applicable. Enemies will come for you, though, so keep with the trigger finger, and look to your map and the horizon for badidies. Move to the next location for the array, while taking out any opposition. Should you take more damage than you're pleased with, move close to your men, and then move back for revenge. Move on to place the next array, and take out the incoming soldiers. When you've got the arrays in place, and the enemies have been taken out, head for the facility on your objective, and watch your map for enemies. Before you can get into the facility, you'll have to hack some terminals first, to obtain access. When you finally head to place the up link, you'll have a lot of enemies to have dealt with. Use the elevator to get to the top, place the up link, and kiss the mission goodbye. You will encounter enemies in the process, though. # # ## ## # #### #### # #### # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # # #### #### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # #### #### # #### # # ##### # # #### # # ##### # ###### ##### ###### # # # ## ## # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # ##### # ##### # # # # # ##### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ##### #### # # # ###### ###### # ###### |\ |-------------------0 / [Operation: Decommission ]--------------------- [OP7] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- Blah, blah, blah, yeah, yeah, whatever, chief. This should NOT be the immediate reaction of you as you hear your instructions for the mission. There are lives at stake, soldier! Well, whatever your feelings, follow your men as the run pretty quickly to the objective point. There will be a load of enemy forces as your men swarm them and proceed to attack. You’ll want to stay back, and look for cover, and take on the adversaries as they are few in number. There are some deployment and other destructible things for you to…well, destroy. It’s not compulsory, though, but should you choose to do so, don’t use your regular ammo, as there are a lot of enemy forces that better deserve it. Use your explosive fire arm for these buggers. Now, that the enemies are gone, take care of the turrets, and loose end destructibles before you proceed to the next area that’s riddled with enemies. You can deploy anti-enemy defenses at the entrance to prevent the bad guys from coming in. Nothing like a mini gun turret for a surprising welcoming gift for them, eh? Anyway, there may be a turret on the roof, so keep an eye out for that, and destroy it. Before you leave, though, you’ll have to make like a pirate, and hack the console again. Da da daaaa! More enemies are coming your way. Be really careful not to die here. Now, for three long minutes, you’ll have to defend the area as enemies come your way. Move and stick close to the console, and don’t let the enemies get too close for comfort. Don’t let the enemy ambush you, and just knowing that that’s what they’re going to do should give you a slight advantage. Stick to the console, and take them out, and again, try your best not to fall. When the timer goes down, move to the next area on your map. A shipping yard of sorts. When you get there, you’ll be told what to do next. You have to destroy all of the items described to you, as well as the enemy themselves. Move in slowly, and take them out. There are a variety of objects you can use for cover, so don’t let that go to waste. Now, after you’ve taken care of business there, and the last enemy has fallen, place charges near a train with armor suits, and another betwixt a couple of tanks. Run like a chicken out of a coop when you set the charges and watch things go boom, baby boom! When everything that needs to be is destroyed, move to the next objective where there are numerous hazardous suits waiting for you. Hack on and hop in! Now, more around to get a feel for the suit, and know that you can melee and beat the snot out of enemies repeatedly for fun and profit. I even recommend doing this more than firing, and no, it’s not just because of the lulz. Move along to new path to the new area, and take the soldiers out by beating them to a pulp. Take each and every one of the enemies out in your new tuxedo, and you shouldn’t have much problem doing so. It’s that badass. You’ve got a complex to take over, but it’s not deserted by any means. Keep using the melee attacks on the enemies, regardless of what variety of foe they are. If you must regenerate health, do so from cover, of which there’s plenty. Though you’ll be taking out enemies,(and if you die, spawn a little way away from the complex to avoid AA fire), your main goal is to hack a terminal in the area. Once all of that is done, so is the mission. Lookin’ good, lookin’ good! # # ## ## # #### #### # #### # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # # #### #### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # #### #### # #### # # ##### # # #### # # ##### # ###### ##### ###### # # # ## ## # # # # # # # # # # ## # # # # ##### # ##### # # # # # ##### # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ##### #### # # # ###### ###### # ###### |\ |-------------------0 / [Operation: Entrapment ]--------------------- [OP8] | [-[]------------[-] \ | [ \-- Alright, this is it. The final showdown. The epic hoedown. The feudalistic mowdown. The inconsequential slowdown. The......damn, I don't know anymore fictional words that end in 'down'. Anyway, gather yourself, soldier, you've got a battle to win. Head along the path you're instructed to, and then keep behind them when heavy fire comes your way. Don't rush this part, walk slowly, and take out single enemies as you advance. You men should be taking more fire than you, and again, they make great scapegoats. Move along to the main objective, the generator, which should be in a building that's located on your map. Move into the building, and keep an eye out for stragglers. Take them out, and then move to the generator terminal that needs to be disabled. When done, move back where you came, for the most part, to the new area on your map. Follow your map, and still keep moving slowly. Don't rush, and take out the hiding enemies that approach you. They think their smart, but you're smarter, so fire away, and seek the help of your squad. There's no need to rush this, and since you're almost done with the game, you should know that you won't have to take things slow for much longer. Keep laying down the fire on the enemies, but don't take them out in bunches, for the most part, and you should slowly be pushing forward. Next, move to the next area on your map, and there shouldn't be much, if any enemies on the way there. Move along and you'll encounter a cut scene. You'll be at the place with the final battle. EEEEEEEEK! I'm so excited! Hrhumph......sorry about that. Alright, now's the final battle. Everything you've learned and implemented and the culmination of your skills avail you in this part now more than ever. Alright, now, don't ignore the little soldiers that are shooting at you, that's what the game wants you to do, so that you can die easily without even knowing. When they come into close proximity with you, take them out, don't flee from them, and don't leave them alive......or happy. You'll need to switch weapons from your machine gun to do more damage to the main mech enemy. Explosive damage is much more effective than the regular assortment of lead. Strafing is your friend, but you'll have to maneuver, or boost (preferably the latter) out of the way to avoid damage from the other enemies that want in on the action. Do so to avoid the mech grabbing you. If he does...you'll be dead. And not just dead, dead, you'll be dead. Jump away when you see it charging, and for the most part, keep this pattern up, and the battle won't be that hard. Keep taking the enemies' health down, both mech and otherwise, but most importantly, the mech. And then...............................YOU'LL BE DONE WITH THE GAME!
