Thanks ******************************************************************************* 3: Information ******************************************************************************* Hello, and welcome to the strange new world of Hoverboard ASDF, henceforth known as hb. This is a new game still in its beta stage, I believe. It has been compared with Mario Cart several times, and with good reason. You need good reflexes, knowledge of the courses, and a big helping of luck. Now, what exactly is hb? You create a character, and then race other people online riding a hoverboard, kinda like a snowboard, but it hovers. Winner gets experience, and Wiz, or money to you and me. you can also win an item if you are lucky. There are the usual rang of powerups, but they look different to what you would expect. Homing missile? No, you get a magical burst of energy. This guide is designed to give beginners and pros all the information they need to win. At least that’s the plan. You can download the game from http://global.asdfgame.com/ Now, about me. My name is William Upton, I am 17 and am studying for my AS levels here in sunny England. I spend too much time playing computer games, but I get my work done, and am hoping to go to uni in a couple of years to study Chemistry. I also a member of a clan, and am the head of its UT2004 section. ******************************************************************************* 4: Version History ******************************************************************************* v0.1 24/3/2005 What you are reading. This is the bare bones of the FAQ. V0.2 25/3/2005 Added more sections, and filled a few more in. Resubmitted to gamefaqs. ******************************************************************************* 5: Getting Started ******************************************************************************* Ok, you've created an account on the hb website, downloaded the client (100Mb) and patched it, Now is time to play! You will be taken to the character select screen, but you don't have a character yet. Click the create button to build yourself one. There are a variety of different parts you can customize, namely the eyes, the mouth, the hairstyle and hair colour. These can’t be directly changed, although some suits will change the colour of your hair while you wear them. You can also change between a boy and girl character at the top. Gender decides what clothes you can wear, and you can't change it later. Once your character is built to perfection, its time to go through the tutorials. You will be presented with the server select screen. The newbie server has just been finished, so go in there either by double-clicking, or click the go sign next to it. The game will see hat you have a new character, and will start the tutorial. You should go through all the levels and quests available to you, in order to get a good supply of Wiz and some great clothes which are better than those you can buy in the shops. You will also win titles which show above your name, but I will cover those later. ******************************************************************************* 6. The server and game rooms ******************************************************************************* Once you have selected the character to use, you will go to the server select screen. Here you will be shown a list of the servers, and you can choose which one you want to join. At the moment, the only servers you can play in are the newbie server, for levels 1 to 10, and the free server, for any level. There is also a trade server where you can trade your items for other items, scrolls and wiz. Along with the name of the server, you will see bars either blue, or empty. These show how full each server is. The free server will always be full, but as far as i know, there is no limit on the number of people that can go into each server, yet. On the left is a list of your friends, and whether they are online or not. If they are, there will be a button to the right of their name which will take you to the server they are in. Soon, other servers will be put up for different level players. You can also only do certain quests in the correct rooms, although you can do any quest in the free room. Once you have chosen a server, you will be taken into the lobby, and have a new menu. The main part of the screen is taken up with the games list. There is a list of all the games, playing and waiting. You can see how many people are in a room, what map is selected, and what gametype will be played. To join a room, you just click it. In the top right is a list of all the characters in the lobby, and also a friends tab, so you can see where your friends are. In the bottom right corner is a picture of you, along with your level, class and guild. Class and guild have not been implimented yet, so these will be blank. There is also a button to take you to My Info, which is covered later. Most of the bottom of the scrreen is taken up with the chat box. You can see what other people are writing, and write your own stuff. There is probably a word filterer, but i have not tried. Most of the time, the box will be full of people advertising hacks. For the love of god don't go to these websites! Most of the time, the 'hack' will be a virus or keylogger, so don't be an idiot. You can also message to just one person. Click where is, and type their name, capitals DO matter, and then enter a message. It will appear in blue text. Along the bottom is a line of buttons. Most of these will be covered in depth later in the guide. Quick join will take you to a random room, simple as that. Cre ate will bring up the create room menu. Quest will bring up the quest screen. Shop will bring up the shop screen. Rank does not work yet, and will be greyed out. Option will bring up the option menu. There are also buttons to take you Back to the server menu, or to Quit the game. ******************************************************************************* 7. My info ******************************************************************************* In this screen, you can check out all the information about your character. At the top of the screen will be three tabs, Character Info, My Item and Guild. In the Character info tab will be a big picture of you and your equipped board, which you can rotate very slightly. You will also see your name, level (along with which lisence you have), class and guild (not working), your title, and a bar showing how close you are to leveling up. You win titles in the quests, you need to come first to gain the title for that quest. You then click the + button, and choose the title you want from the drop-down menu. This will then appear above you when you race. Below this is the character status, showing, as a bar, the stats of your character. The fuller the bar, the higher your stats are. There are four catagories, Speed, Accel, Corner and Balance . In the bottom left corner are your tricks. From left to right, they are assigned to the a, s, d and f keys. Finally, on the right is the picture of the person you are married to in-game. marrage has a seperate section later. The next tab, my item, is where you can equip different items that you have either bought, or won. On the left, you will see all the items you own. As default, it will show all the items, but by clicking on the sections above the pictures, it will show just clothes of the type you choose. Below this, there are counters for the Wiz and Kiwis you have. In the center are the clothes you have on. If you move your mouse over a piece of clothing, you will get a pop up box telling you the stats of the item, the level requirements, gender needed to wear, buy and sell price, and how much room is left for enchantments. Kiwi cloths can also be seen by using the kiwi tab. Kiwi clothes will go over your regular clothes, and they don't boost your stats, but they look cool, so many people buy them. They also give your character different actions if you own the set. Finally there is the guild tab, but becuase the guild system is not up yet, you can't select this. ******************************************************************************* 8. The powerups ******************************************************************************* Where would a game be without powerups? Hb does not ask us this question, though, giving us a wide range of powers to be used in any way, shape, or form. The powers will be on the track, either as the powers icon, or as a ? crate, depending on what was selected in the game room. This section will describe what the items are, and try to give you hints on when to use them, although most of it should be common sense. Fireball. This looks like a red fireball. When you use it, Your character will power up the ball in his hand, then throw it forwards. It will follow the course until it hits the leader. Unless you throw it directly into a wall, it will always hit and cause the leader to spin and slow down. If you use this when you are in first, it will just fire forwards. Tornado. A pink face thing icon. Mush like the fireball, when you use the item, your character will power it up then fire a pink disk which will hit the person in front of you in the race. When you hit, a pink tornado will spring up, showing that you hit. Using this when you are in first will cause it to fire straight forwards. Power Cage. A green electric-looking thing. This will coat your player in an orb of electricity, slowing down any who get too close. This can be good, especially near the beginning where all the players are bunched together, as this gives you a good opportunity to take an early lead. The cage disappears after about 5 seconds, or when you use another power. Icicle. A blue spiky shaped icon. You place this, and a big blue circle will appear on the floor behind you. And player that rides over this will be blasted by magic, and do front flip, slowing them down slightly. These are best used when you are in first, and if you can place them in the racing line, people will either have to slow down and swerve to avoid them, or go over them. They stay for a couple of seconds after being activated, then they disappear. There is enough time for one person to be hit three times by one of these traps before it vanishes. Oil. Brown water drop icon with a face. Much like the Icicle, this power will drop a patch of something on the floor which slows those down who go over it. Like the icicle, it will vanish in a few seconds after someone goes over it. Best used in first. Boost. A blue rectangle with a face. The equivalent of using a booster, or landing a jump, this power gives you a quick speed boost. This can be useful in a variety of situations, to overtake someone on the last corner, increasing your lead, the possibilities are endless. Ok, they aren't but this is a useful item, and you will be glad when you get one. Shield. A blue ball with wings. When you activate this, for a time you will be protected from a fireball or tornado hit. Once you get hit, the shield vanishes, as it will after about 7 seconds. Very useful for stopping all those fireballs if you are in first place. Using another powerup will remove the shield. Reflector. A key shaped icon. More useful than the shield, instead of just blocking an attack, it deflects it back to the person that fired it. While a lot more useful than the shield, it will only stay for about 3 seconds before it vanishes. Using another power will remove the reflector. Crazy. A pink face with crazy circley eyes. Use this, and every other player will be given a tornado. If they had another power, it gets rid of this. Much craziness then ensues, as most players will use this straight away. Obviously, this is best used when you are in last place, as all the players in front of you will be hit by each others tornadoes, allowing you to ride past them. ******************************************************************************* 9. Coming Soon ******************************************************************************* In the next few updates, I hope to fill in all the 'under construction' sections. If anyone does have anything to contribute, can you email it to me, my address is given in section one. I may also do a high score table thing, where you screenshot your fastest laps then get a little bit of fame is someone reads this faq. I may do a fancy logo for the top, if this faq is popular. Soon, I will also add in the quick reference tags, but at this stage, the faq isn't really big enough for them. ******************************************************************************* 13. Thanks ******************************************************************************* Well, at the moment I can only really thank Anipark for making such a great game, all the people over at pockethouse, especially Mr. RoBoTo for introducing it to us.
