If you think something should be added, just email me and I'd love to write some more on this FAQ. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* -------------- ABOUT THE GAME -------------- Snoopy and Peanuts was released in 1989 and developed by a small team called The Edge. Considering it was developed back in the days of MS-DOS, it's actually a pretty good family game. If you don't use a walkthrough, it might take a few hours to find everything in the game. And back then, there were no walkthroughs, so Snoopy and Peanuts would have entertained a kid for quite awhile. I found this game the other day on a dusty old floppy disk of mine, and upon rediscovering how fun it was, I decided I should write a FAQ/walkthrough for it. Licenced games this great are rare, so if you remember what "fun" meant back in 1989, go get this game. You can download it for free off the Internet. I won't tell you where, but it's easy to find. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* -------- CONTROLS -------- ===== KEYBOARD CURSOR KEY CONTROLS ============================================ numpad 8 : jump numpad 2 : pick up item, drop item numpad 4 : move left numpad 6 : move right (alternatively, you can use the regular arrow keys) numpad 5 : action spacebar : enter house ===== KEYBOARD ZXVG ENTER CONTROLS ============================================ G : jump V : pick up item, drop item Z : move left X : move right enter : action spacebar : enter house ===== GENERAL ================================================================= F1 : pause, unpause F10 : restart game Esc : exit game To give an item to a character, drop it by his/her feet. ******************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************* ----------- WALKTHROUGH ----------- ===== INTRO =================================================================== The goal of the game is find Linus's trademark blue blanket, and bring it to him. There are actually two different blankets in the game, each requiring a different route to obtain it. Thus, this walkthrough will be broken down into two sections. Choose whatever route you wish. ===== ROUTE #1 ================================================================ You start at 5B. Go to Charlie Brown's living room [5E] and grab the COOKIE JAR that's on the floor. Eat the cookies. Exit the house and go to the edge of the pond [10], where a frog is. Capture the frog in the jar. Take it to Linus and Lucy's back porch [7D]. Leave the jar there (don't release the frog) and grab the UMBRELLA. Walk under the rain cloud [01]. Drop the umbrella and kick the SOCCER BALL across the screen. Take the umbrella and walk under the rain cloud again. Drop the umbrella and take the soccer ball all the way to the edge of the pond. Kick the soccer ball into the pond. Grab the COIN, and cross the pond with it. It's not too difficult. Just jump when the barrel or the soccer ball is at the peak of its bob. And hold down the jump button when you get to the last screen, so that you don't get caught when the last barrel dips down. Throw the coin into wishing well [12]. Fall back into the pond. Go back to apple tree [03] and take the SLINGSHOT that you probably noticed earlier. Cross the pond again. Once in awhile, a red balloon with a PUMP attached to it will float out of the wishing well [12]. Pop that balloon. Leave the slingshot and take the pump that comes down. Fall into the pond. Pump up the kiddie pool that is in Linus and Lucy's backyard [7F]. Go left one screen [7E] and drop the pump. Pick up the HOSEPIPE and drag it over to the kiddie pool. Fill up the pool. Drop the hosepipe and go get the cookie jar that should be at Linus and Lucy's back porch [7D]. Take the jar and release the frog next to the kiddie pool [7F]. Lucy will jump out and drop her RUBBER RING. Take the rubber ring to the screen with the kite-eating tree [09]. Drop the rubber ring to the side of the tree; not directly under the tree. Now back track all the way to where you left the pump, which should be [7E]. Return to the kite-eating tree and pump up the rubber ring. Now stand at the far edge of the screen, and jump onto the rubber ring. If you positioned yourself and the ring properly, you'll bounce really high and knock the KITE out of the tree. Adjust things until you get the kite. Take the kite to Charlie Brown, who will be by the apple tree [03]. Drop it by his feet, and he will fly the kite a short distance. Wait for him to stop flying the kite, and take the KEY that he drops. Use the key to unlock the locker [6B] that has a blue blanket sticking out of it. Take the blanket and give it to Linus [07]. Congrats, you've finished the game! ===== ROUTE #2 ================================================================ You start at 5B. Grab the TYPEWRITER that is hidden behind Snoopy's doghouse on that same screen. Type a LETTER and give the letter to Charlie Brown [5E] (just drop it next to him). Now leave the house and go over to Linus and Lucy's back porch [7D]. Take the UMBRELLA and go over to the rain cloud [01]. Walk under the rain cloud. Drop the umbrella and kick the SOCCER BALL across the screen. Take the umbrella and walk under the rain cloud again. Drop the umbrella and take the soccer ball all the way to the outside of the school [6A]. Kick the soccer ball against the wall of the school and a BRICK will fall out. Take the brick to the apple tree [03]. Throw the brick up, knocking the APPLE out of the tree. Take the apple and go the teacher's desk [6D] in the school. Just carry the apple near the desk. She will give you a WHISTLE in return. Go left one screen [6C] and blow the whistle to wake up Peppermint Patty, who is now sleeping. Take the SCISSORS that she drops and go to the Charlie Brown's front porch [5F]. As a result of that letter you had Charlie Brown send, a HEAVY PARCEL will be delivered to the front porch. Cut open the parcel with the scissors, revealing a BUST. Take the bust to Linus and Lucy's TV room [7B], where Schroeder will be sitting next to his piano. If he's not there yet, you will have to wait for him. Drop the bust to the right of the piano, and Lucy will come in to listen to Schroeder. Go right, into the kitchen [7C]. A BLANKET will fall out of the washing machine. Take the blanket to Linus, who will be out on the sidewalk [07]. Usage: Take it to the teacher's desk inside the school [6D], and get a whistle in return. Blanket Where: Two places. (a) From the washing machine in Linus and Lucy's kitchen. [7C] (b) From the locker in the school. [6B] Brick Where: Kick the soccer ball against the outside of the school [6A], and a brick will fall out. Usage: The action button throws it straight up into the air. Use it to knock the apple off the apple tree. [03] Bust Where: Comes out of the heavy parcel, when you cut it open with the scissors. Usage: Give it to Schroeder, who will now be in Linus and Lucy's house. [7B] This stops the washing machine in the kitchen, allowing you to grab a blanket. [7C] Coin Where: At the edge of the pond. [10] Usage: Use the action button to toss it up and into the wishing well [12]. This makes balloons fly out of the well. Cookie Jar Where: Charlie Brown's living room. [5E] Usage: When pressing the action button, Snoopy will tilt the jar. This allows you to trap the frog by the pond [10]. It will hop into the jar. Dog Bowl Where: Next to Snoopy's doghouse. [5B] Usage: Give it to Charlie Brown, and he will fill it with food. Then, using the action button, you can eat the food. Heavy Parcel Where: By the front porch at Charlie Brown's house [5F], after you get Charlie Brown to mail the letter. Usage: Cut it open with the scissors. Now you have a bust. Hosepipe Where: It has its own screen in Linus and Lucy's backyard. [7E] Usage: Hold down the action button while next to the kiddie pool [7F] to fill it up. Key Where: Charlie Brown drops it after trying to fly his kite. [03] Usage: Press the action button to open the locker with the blanket hanging out of it. It's in the school, of course. [6B] Kite Where: Use the rubber ring to bounce really high and knock the kite out of the kite-eating tree. [09] Usage: Give it to Charlie Brown, and he will drop a key. He will be next to the apple tree. [03] Letter Where: Comes from the typewriter. Usage: Give it to Charlie Brown, and he will mail it off. A heavy parcel will arrive at the Browns's front porch later. [7A] Pump Where: Attached to some red balloons that float out of the wishing well. [12] Usage: Hold down the action button to pump up the kiddie pool and the rubber ring. Rubber Ring Where: Lucy drops it when you release the frog next to the kiddie pool [7F]; but first you have to pump up the pool and fill it with water, so that Lucy gets in. Usage: When it's pumped up, bounce off of it to gain extra height. This allows you to knock the kite out of the kite-eating tree. [09] Scissors Where: Peppermint Patty drops them when you wake her up with the whistle. [6C)] Usage: Cut open the heavy parcel, revealing a bust. Scorepad Where: Outside the school. [06] Usage: Tells you the score of the baseball game, which is also posted on the score board. [02] Slingshot Where: Under the apple tree. [03] Usage: Press the action button to fire a rock in the air. Use it pop balloons from the wishing well. [12] Soccer Ball Where: To the left of the rain cloud. [01] Usage: Kick it into the pond with the action button, and it will float to the gap in the middle [11]. This allows you to cross the pond by jumping on the ball like a stepping stone. Also, if you kick it against the school wall [6A] a brick will fall out. Typewriter Where: Hidden behind Snoopy's doghouse. [5B] Usage: Type a letter with the action button. Umbrella Where: By the back porch at Linus and Lucy's house. [7D] Usage: Press the action button to open the umbrella. This lets you walk under the rain cloud. [01] Watch Where: Outside Charlie Brown's house. [05] Usage: I'm guessing that when the game starts, the watch automatically starts at 10:00. So you could use it to time yourself. I guess. Whistle Where: From the teacher, when you give her an apple. [6D] Usage: You can blow the whistle with the action button. This wakes up Peppermint Patty, who will then drop a pair of scissors.
