Along with that the descriptions, criteria, and how to achieve the award itself will be listed. This Guide/FAQ is for personal reading purposes only and should not be copied and distributed for personal gain. ================= -= 2. Update History =- ================= 6/29/05 V1.0 -=- Initial setup of the guide took place. I started to list all known badges, medals, and ribbons along with their given descriptions and criteria. 6/29/05 V1.5 -=- Came back to work later in evening to finish off what can be completed of the guide. I will add more content as more ribbons, badges, and medals are discovered. This didn't take very long, now did it? Usually you see people working on guides for months. Anyway...enjoy the fruits of my labor. 7/5/05 V1.75 -=- After a much needed rest and also some tests with various awards I have come back to finish what I started. I Added Information on how to attain each award. 7/5/05 V1.99 -=- At this point it is evident I'm just making up version numbers as I go along. Heh, but seriously this is a great update. Completed the list of all awards and their description, criteria, and how they can be attained if it is known. 7/8/05 V2.0 -=- After much more trial and error I needed to make some revisions to the guide. I edited some information on how to attain the ribbons. Thanks to those who contributed with disproving some information via e-mail. I also added an entire new section listed as "Help and FAQs." If you are having trouble understanding this guide or getting some of the awards listed, head down to section 8. In addition, another section was added for acknowledgments for individual contributions to this guide. 7/13/05 V2.1 -=- Through more trial and error as well as various e-mail assistance I have proved and disproved many of the awards. The Purple Heart has been changed and in addition so has various ribbons. I am still looking for information on the Combat Action, Crew Service, Armored Service, and Infantry Officer Ribbons. I have also added a new section specially made for the promotions and weapon unlocks. 7/18/05 V2.5 -=- This one is a huge update. I have completed every award which is able to be gotten thus far in my guide. All awards are subject to change and therefore your e-mails are still more than welcome. I have also updated the Promotions and Unlocks sections due to minor grammatical flaws which exploded into hundreds of e-mails. ================= -= 3. What Are They? =- ================= The Awards are for personal gratification and public respect. They are visible through your statistics in the BFHQ section under AWARDS. The awards themselves are given out for any achievement in the online world of BF2. Some require much difficulty to acquire. Others you will find may come naturally or unexpectedly during game play. There is no specific qualification for these awards besides game play. Some awards will not be attained until a much higher rank. Some you will be able to receive in even your first game. ================= -= 4. Criteria =- ================= In this section I will explain to all of you the meaning of "Criteria." To attain an award a certain criteria must be met. This varies through the different types of awards. Help and FAQs =- ================ In this section I will try best to help you all by answering questions you might have. Some basic questions will follow as well as my answer for them. Q). I cannot seem to get the required amount of kills for the kit badges, what should I do? A). It is hard work for some people and requires practice. Some tips would be to use vehicles to your advantage. Remember, you only need to get the kills while using the kit. You don't have to specifically use the weapons in that kit. Q). What do you mean by repair, healing, and resupply points? A). When you are using the medic, engineer, or support kits you have materials to perform these actions. The quick key for your teamwork pouches is 5. Simply take out your pouch and it will automatically perform the action according to your kit to all nearby teammates. For engineers you have a wrench. The wrench is used to repair vehicles or structures that are damaged. While in a vehicle you will automatically repair nearby vehicles, but outside of a vehicle you need to manually walk up to the object you wish to repair and use the wrench with the fire button. Q). It doesn't seem possibly to get some of these awards in one round of game play! What should I do? A). I feel your pain. A tip would be to play in servers with 32 people or more. This increases the amount of tickets in the game and the amount of chances you have to perform the necessary tasks to achieve your award. This also increases the vehicles on the map generally and decreases their spawn times. That has its' benefits for some of the vehicle or kill ribbons and badges. Q). I don't understand the criteria for these awards. What does it all mean? A). As listed in section 4, the criterion is simply what you need to do in order to get each award. There are different levels of criteria for different awards. The higher the level of criteria, again see section 4, the harder it will be to attain that award. Do not give up. Simply excel in that area of criteria and hope for the best. Sometimes the awards can be quite tedious to achieve, but reap from the benefits and respect you gain afterwards. Q). It seems impossible to get the Explosives Ordinance Badge, what should I do? A). This is probably the hardest badge to attain. I am not going to lie to you; you will not get it your first time trying. You are going to get frustrated and aggravated with the game. Some things to remember would be that suicides and team kills discredit kills. If you think sacrificing your life to get a kill is worth an award, then you are mistaken. Try to set your opponents up. A great tip for a lot of kills is to camp with C4 in a populated area or around a flag. Eventually an enemy will come through and you can get a kill, and redo that scenario four more times. A good map for this badge would be Strike at Karkand for its fast pace and close quarter environment. Q). I found something wrong in your guide. What should I do? A). E-mail me the error. I will not get angry and will always return your e-mail. I am human, too. Sometimes I will miss something or sometimes my information is inaccurate. Remember, this is for you guys. If something is wrong it won't help much. You can find my e-mail below in contact info. Q). You do not have information on how to attain an award. What does that mean? A). In simple terms, just that. It means I do not have enough information to write down how to attain that award. It could also mean that award has not yet been awarded to any member of the battlefield 2 community. Q). I have information on an award that you do not have listed OR I have correct information on a currently incorrect way to attain an award. What should I do? A). Go ahead and send it in to me. Again, some of my information could be slightly flawed. I am always open to new ideas or thoughts. You will be given credit in my acknowledgment section of the guide and your contribution will be added accordingly. Q). Is there a website that shows an image of all the awards? A). Sure, here it is. Please enjoy. Be aware that there are a lot of images on that site and it may take awhile to load. Be patient. http://www.totalbf2.com/game/awards/ ======================= -= 9. Promotions & Unlocks =- ======================= Promotions & Ranks ------------ Due to popular request, I have added this section into the guide. Here I will go over each promotion, the required amount of points, and the weapon unlocks. Some of the information on the ranks might be slightly off. I know a few require certain awards to attain. Please be patient as we learn more over time about the promotions. Without much more delay, I give you the promotions list! Pay grade | Rank (Global Score) - Status E1 | Private (0) - No Unlock E2 | Private First Class (500) - No Unlock E3 | Lance Corporal (1,000) - 1st Unlock E4 | Corporal (10,500) - 2nd Unlock E5 | Sergeant (25,000) - 3rd Unlock E6 | Staff Sergeant (50,000) - 4th Unlock E7 | Gunnery Sergeant (75,000) - 5th Unlock E8 | Master Sergeant (150,000) - 6th Unlock E8 | **First Sergeant (150,000) - 6th Unlock E9 | Master Gunnery Sergeant (250,000) - 7th Unlock E9 | **Sergeant Major (250,000) - 7th Unlock E9 | Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps (2,500,000) - No Unlock This is a list of the Marine Corps Ranks in which the game is based off of. The game has no officer ranks, only enlisted ranks. The levels of pay grade (E1-9) are listed at the left of the rank. This is the order in which you get promoted in. For the pay grades with multiple ranks it means medals are required to get that rank. The ones marked with **, First Sergeant and Sergeant Major, require medals to attain them. Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps is the top enlisted rank. This is also known as the Battlefield Commander and only one individual can hold this position. Weapon Unlocks
------------
Moving on to the weapon unlocks now. The weapon unlocks are given out for
every rank after Lance Corporal. They are used to unlock the primary
weapon for a kit.
Medic - L85A2
*********
This is a powerful and accurate rifle. It can zoom in almost as far as a
sniper rifle, and while firing semi-automatic bursts it can be just as
accurate.
Support - PKM
*********
With more accuracy than the standard issue support machine guns it makes
this puppy a force to be reckoned with. It is slightly more powerful than
the stand issues as well. Main focus is with the major accuracy increase.
Engineer - Jackhammer
*********
Close range there is no other like it. This is a semi or full automatic
shotgun. It fires the entire clip in just a few seconds. The standard
reload time and small clip size makes it seem like you are doing more
reloading than fighting, however.
Assault - G3
*********
With only 20 bullets in the clip this weapon has been proven to be a step
down from the standard issue assault guns. With this upgrade you lose the
use of the grenade launcher. You get a few grenades as a replacement. The
rifle itself is more accurate and does more damage, though.
Spec Ops - G36C
*********
With this rifle you lose the use of a scope. The great power and accuracy
make up for the loss, however. It's great for medium and close range
battles, and not half bad in the distance battles. It gives back little
recoil and fires in fast bursts. It can be fully automatic or semi-
automatic.
Anti-tank - DAO-12
*********
This semi-automatic shotgun is a powerful upgrade from the standard issued
anti-tank primary weapon. This gun gives much more appeal to the anti-tank
class. The recoil and reload time of a shotgun is hard to deal with but
the increased damage is a step up.
Sniper - M95
*********
This rifle is the cream of the sniper crop. The accuracy is increased from
the other two rifles in addition to the increased damage, decreased
recoil, and decreased reload (except from the MEC sniper). If you like to
snipe, you will love this little guy.
