Click on the Construct tab to access all of the available items. When you hover your cursor over each item, a price and short discription appear just to the right explaining the rule of that structure. Here is the list of all the required buildings you need before you open your airport: o Runway o Taxiway (should have multiple) o Plane Stand (should have multiple) o Apron o Turnaround o Airport Maintenance Building o Cargo or Passenger Terminal CHOOSING A TERMINAL TYPE Before placing buildings down, you need to decide whether your going to build a cargo or passenger airport. Choosing a cargo terminal will make life much easier as there will be no bomb treats, resulting in a loss of airport rating. But on the other hand, you wont make as nearly as much money as you would with a passenger airport with the vending machines and catering fees to the airlines that you host. It is entirely up to you to decide which path you wish to go with. Just note that with any terminal building that you place down, you cannot demolish it. Also note, that when building a cargo terminal, you will also need to place any type of storage unit. If you choose a passenger terminal, I suggest building a pre-made one. It is more expensive, but it has everything you'll need BUILDING A RUNWAY Since this is a brand new airport, you will only have one runway available to you, the 1000m. This runway is used for the smallest of the small planes that barely hold fifty people. Also, you cannot destroy runways without canceling all of the flights assigned to that runway. BUILDING THE REST OF THE REQUIRE BUILDINGS Now with your terminal and runway is place, it's time to fill iin the pieces with the rest of the require buildings before you open up your airport _______ | [3.2] | ================================================= Acquiring Contracts ================================================= THE BASICS You will not get contracts when your airport is closed, simply put. If you wish to view your current contracts, go under the Business tab and select Contracts. You get contracts based off of your airport rating and customer satisfaction. When a new contract is available to your, double-click on the message in the Message Panel, it will then automatically open up the contracts page and go directly to the pending contracts section. Depending on what you want to do, you can either accept, reject, or renegotiate. To renegotiate, click on the checkmark of term that you dont agree with and then send it back. Businesses will not negotiate for long, so don't plan on always getting what you want. Some companies will not even negotiate even once, so think twice before to do it. TYPES OF CONTRACTS There are 4 main groups of contract types: o Airline Contracts o Outside Contracts o Inside Contracts o Airline Service Contracts AIRLINE CONTRACTS Airline contracts are agreements between you airport and other airlines to use you airport. Along with airline contracts, there are also sub-contracts. Including Master Business Contracts, Flight Contracts, and HUB Contracts. Master Business Contracts are the first contract that you will recieve so that airlines may start to use your airport. One of these contracts per airline. Signing these contracts will get you signing bonuses. Flight Contracts are the most common type of contracts in the game. You get one contract for every individual plane. If you have the contract auto-renew option checked, you will automatically renew that contract after each flight it makes. HUB Contracts are agreements with you and an airline that they will repair their airplanes at your airport. After dealing with an airline for multiple years and are still in good terms, then you should start to be getting these. Don's expect these though until you have a Plane Maintain #3. OUTSIDE BUSINESS CONTRACTS There are two types of these contracts that you will recieve, hotels and gas stations. These businesses will not cost you anything and will only make you more revenue. Once signing the contracts, you can place the structures wherever you want. They must have road access to work properly. Just keep in mind the surrounding area does effect the businesses. For example, if you place a gas station where you keep all of your administration offices at. No one will go there. A good place to place it is near the entrance of your airport or near you parking lots. Same idea with the hotels, don't place them right next to the runway. Otherwise the business will pack up and leave. AIRLINE SERVICE CONTRACTS These contracts include the refueling and catering of your incoming airplanes. These contracts do not get signed however. They come and go based off of your ratings. These services are rated on a scale from one to five. Five being the best and one being to worst. Othertime as your airport improves, so will the qulaity by going higher. _______ | [3.3] | ================================================= Building Units ================================================= ***Example Structure Detials*** o (name of structure) - (building cost) - (monthly cost) - (year unlocked) - (brief description) PUBLIC SERVICES o Passenger Terminal #1 - $1,000,000 - $5,000 - 1970 - A small one-story passenger terminal. o Passenger Terminal #2 - $2,000,000 - $7,000 - 1971 - A one-story passenger terminal with a daycare and small retail area. o Passenger Terminal #3 - $4,000,000 - $10,000 - 1980 - The largest one-story passenger terminal. ================================================= Managing Your Budget ================================================= CONTRACTS This is an easy way for you to make alot of money. Every airline that you sign a contract with will give you a signing bonus. Starting out at about seventy-five thousand dollars. Hotels and gas stations will give you alot of well. But the real challenge is to be able to make it that far with your aiport. No doubt that you will go into debt. I sure have, but it's alright. As long as you pull in a profit you'll be fine. CONSTRUCTION This is the part where I tell you how you can make a large amount of profit. When building your airport, start out with your runway, terminal, control tower, turnaround, plain maintain, and airport maintain. You wont need anything else. You won't need a admin office just yet as you will still get contracts through your terminal. AIRPORT CHARGES This is the section you should close attention to. Before opening your airport. Set your catering and refueling costs up to a buck fifty. The reason for this is that gas and food will cost you a dollar to start off. Therefore you won't be making any money from it. Don't bother with the passenger charge though. Messing with anything more will only have airlines and contracts avoid your airport. _______ | [4.2] | ================================================= Raising Your Airport And Customer Rating ================================================= AIRPORT RATING Your airport rating is based off of how well your airport runs. Having more buildings will help boost your rating. Also you should have your airport covered with police and fire support. Set you police status to 'cautious' as well. You can do this by right-clicking on a police station and at the bottom of the panel will have the option that your looking for. CUSTOMER SATISFACTION Your travelers approval rating will all depend on the beauty of your airport and how convenient it is to them. For example, having alot of trees and flowers fill in extra spaces in between buildings will have boost satisfaction. _______ | [4.3] | ================================================= Growing Your Airport ================================================= 1970-1976 These years you should only have to required structures. Eventually you'll need admin offices so that your able to have more contracts. You should be expanding these as soon as they get full. Other than that, you should have between five and ten plane stands in your airport. If you go into debt when placing down new buildings it's alright, as long as you know that your taking in a profit each month. You'll get that debt paid in full pretty soon. 1977-1985 This is the year to start making your airport's appearence look good. Place trees and grass throughout the roads in your airport. Also expand by placing another runway, the 2000m. Don't bother with any new terminals just yet. The reason being is that you can only have four terminals in your airport. If you haven't already, you should build a medium control tower along with a fire and police station in the beginning years of this section. 1986-2000 Now if you have the money, you should now build passenger terminal #4. This terminal will allow you to have jetways in your airport, as well as a huge customer satisfaction boost from how convenient they are to your travelers. And when the cargo terminal #3 is available to you in 1990. You should build that. The reason being is that some airlines in the game are for cargo transport only. You want to have the maximum number of airlines at your airport to generate the most money over time. 2001-WHENEVER The last terminal you should buy will be passenger terminal #8. It will be unlocked in the year 2060. It is also has a very hefty price tag on it but it's worth it. You can connect twenty-eight jetways to it, you'll never again have to worry about not having enough space for planes. The one problem though is that the terminal is so large that you may or may not have enough space for it though. If you thought ahead you should have left a pretty good chunk of the land unused. Anyway, this is basically the end of the game right here as there is nothing else to be unlocked. If you wish to continue playing. Have fun and remember to expand you control towers, admin offices, fire and police stations, and anything else I forgot to mention. _______ | [4.4] | ================================================= Getting Bigger Planes ================================================= RUNWAYS You won't get any bigger planes if you don't have a bug enough runway. Planes like the BoodWing (Boeing) 747 will need the 3500m runway. Average size planes that you would see at any main airport, in my case O' Hare in Chicago. You'll need the 3000m. And some will be able to get away with the 2000m. QUALITY This is the quality of your refueling and catering services. You'll need them to be both the same star level. If you take a look at the section 'Airlines And Planes' you see what level each airline is to unlock. It is in worst to best order. Meaning DBA INTERNATIONAL is the best airline in the game that you can get. TRAFFIC Having more traffic at your airport is a no-brainer. Having more travelers will have airlines sending bigger planes to you to get more passengers for more money. JETWAYS These also attract bigger planes as that's the only kind of plane a jetway can have. ============================================================================== [5] __ __ _ \ \ / / (_) \ \ / /___ _ __ ___ _ ___ _ __ \ \/ // _ \| '__|/ __|| | / _ \ | '_ \ \ /| __/| | \__ \| || (_) || | | | \/ \___||_| |___/|_| \___/ |_| |_| _ _ _ _ | | | |(_) | | | |__| | _ ___ | |_ ___ _ __ _ _ | __ || |/ __|| __|/ _ \ | '__|| | | | | | | || |\__ \| |_| (_) || | | |_| | |_| |_||_||___/ \__|\___/ |_| \__, | __/ | |___/ o Version 0.01 - Guide started with layout and design complete. o Version 0.10 - Controls, System Requirements, and Copyright complete. o Version 0.50 - Playing The Game now mostly complete.
