INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned For Danger' for the PC, an adventure game released by Her Interactive in 2000. This is the second game in the long-running series. Suggestions, comments or errors - email me about it. Enjoy! =============================================================================== 02.) BASICS G0200 =============================================================================== You control the game mainly with the mouse. Interact with objects when the magnifying glass become red, move if it is blue. You can also use the directional keys to move left, right and look up/down and it is sometimes easier than trying to find the spot for the arrow to appear. Note that if you open a chest or drawer you will also have to close it again to move along. I won't mention this in the walkthrough at each instance. The same goes for knocking and opening doors, that is really something you should be able to figure out to be playing any adventure game. There are many more features the game holds the walkthrough does not mention, as there are already solved for you and therefore more or less extra contents. The game is a little tricky whether some things are important to check or if one can just miss out on it. The more thorough the better, but I believe only the stuff mentioned in the walkthrough are really necessary. The game offers three different difficulty levels. They do not alter the crime solving in any way, but instead make the puzzles harder. The story will always be the same. I will sometimes only mention the Junior puzzles, because I would think you chose the other mode for challenge. Should you have trouble solving the advance puzzles, play on Junior! Going upstairs at Mattie's House gives you the choice to switch between Day and Night. You can also wait for the clock to move forward but this will take a very long time. =============================================================================== 03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300 =============================================================================== Mattie's House: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Talk to Mattie in the living room. You will get keys to the home. You need to use these keys to enter the house each time, but I will NOT mention it each single time. Open the chest near the window to find the remote. Take it and then leave the house. Worldwide Broadcasting: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Talk to the security guard to get a pass. Sign in by clicking on the first empty line. Turn left at the corridor and after you hear the conversation from the producer's room, enter the one with a star for Mattie. Talk to her until she leaves. There is a small box on the right table, you can open it for a puzzle. The solution is sorry that it has to work out like this - but there is no choice at the moment. You must trust me on this. We both know what needs to be done, and I am taking steps, however drastic, to see that it is finished as we discussed - I just need your support. When all this blows over and everything calms down, we can be together. but it might be optional to do this. Return up the corridor and use your card on the reader at the gray sliding doors. It may take a few attempts, try to do some from the top and moving down. After the scene, return to the doors and go right to the work area with tools. Look at the tool board and pick up a screwdriver. Talk to Mattie in her room once again. Talk to Rick in the room next door. Afterwards, look around his room for the threatening notes and letters. Leave the building via the side or main entrance. Mattie's House: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Talk to Mattie in the living room. She's only there during the day though. She will mention an agent you can sign up with. Dwayne's Office: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Look at the tenant's list and ring 101 - Dwayne's office. Try again after being told off. Enter the building and follow the corridor until the end. You get the job. Worldwide Broadcasting: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Tell the security guard you are an extra and sign in again as before. Go to the prop room on the right side and tell Millie you want to get inside. Answer the riddles. Junior: Q: I run all day and never walk. I tell you something, but I do not talk! A: Clock Q: When you look at my face, it is easy to see. You're looking at you when you're looking at me! A: Mirror Q: Soft as a petal that falls from a tree, the more I dry the wetter I'll be! A: Cloth | Sponge | Towel Senior: Q: Give it air and it will live. Give it water and it will die. A: Fire Q: What has a head and tail but no body? A: Coin Q: What has teeth but can't eat? A: Comb Master: Q: What has four fingers and one thumb but is not alive? A: Glove Q: The more you make, the more you leave behind. A: Friends | Footprints | Tracks Q: What is full of holes but holds water? A: Sponge Walk to the right and examine the chest. Open the lock and solve the mini-game by moving the stack of rings to the right side. Step-by-step solutions in case you need them: 1. Pink -> Center 2. Purple -> Right 3. Pink -> Right 4. Yellow -> Center 5. Pink -> Left 6. Purple -> Center 7. Pink -> Center 8. Green -> Right 9. Pink -> Right 10. Purple -> Left 11. Pink -> Left 12. Yellow -> Right 13. Pink -> Center 14. Purple -> Right 15. Pink -> Right Take the clock sweep. Behind the chest is a map. Lift the bottom right corner and take the wire cutters. Take a door knob from the box on the left. Turn around and look at the note in the typewriter. Also look at the log on the desk, especially the page in the back. If you did all the above then you won't need to come back later on but you can use the knob to open the door at night, or wait until 6pm. Return to the set and insert the sweep at the grandfather clock. Set it to 11:05pm and take the key that appears. Mattie's House: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ There should be a package waiting on the chair. If not then you forgot to talk to someone, or maybe didn't look at everything you were supposed to. Open up the box and take the videotape. Go to the living room and switch on the TV with the remote and then insert the tape. Worldwide Broadcasting: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Knock at Rick's room. It will open automatically. Look at the note on the desk and play the tape. As soon as it starts, open up the tape player. Use the screwdriver to remove the four screws, then use the wire cutter on the wires just above timer. You should cut it slightly to the left of the wire, and above the around transistor. You can just click around like mad, as long as stay near that color. The correct solution is: Yellow, Red, Orange, Blue. Mattie's House: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Afterwards you'll find yourself on the phone with the producer. Talk about anything you want. Pick up the note on the table about the new security code. Worldwide Broadcasting: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Talk to Mattie, Rick, Millie and Lillian until they having nothing else to say. You must move quick in the corridor or the guard will find you. This is different depending on your difficulty setting. Dash from room to room towards your destination. Enter the stage and go right and up the stairs. Use the code to get inside: ___ ___ ___ __ | | |. .| | .| | ___| | ___| |__| Pick up a tape on the left shelf. Open up the high voltage box with the key that was hidden in the clock. Switch the power on. Insert the audio tape in the mixer and play around with the channels. Switch up CH1 only to hear the voice better, and CH3 only to hear the background sound. Leave and walk to the left side of the set. Open up the metal doors with the key to find a machine. Flip the upper lever right one spot, then the middle one by one step, the lower one by three and then push the yellow button. At the center of the stage, go behind the couch and use the lever to go down. Use the elevator on the other side to get back up. Look at the jacket on the chair. Read the card in the chest pocket. Return the way you came in and back to the corridor. Use the card on Lillie's door knob to get inside. Look around. The small shelf with books straight ahead has one book with a disk and photo. Insert the disk into the computer. Pick up a pen on the right of the computer and use it on the notepad to get a phone number. There is a note in the trash, you can get to it by looking at the desk drawer just next to it. On the left is a TV and below are some pages. Read those. Finally, use the computer and login with 'Millie', password WWB1958. Read the email, password list, print the report, check the contents on the disk and then use the file viewer. Insert 318672001 as username and password. Dwayne's Office: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Ring 306 - Hess Grumply and enter the building. Go down to the office as before and use the card to open the door. Check out everything in the room, especially the stuff in the desk. Open up the briefcase with the combination 4377 & 6630. Read everything you can in here, and take the key. Use the key to unlock the file cabinet on the right and read the four files on Nancy, Owen, Mattie and Rick. Call the chocolate company at 555-5469. Mattie's House: ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Go to the living room and switch the TV on with the remove. Insert the red videotape and watch it. Change to day time. Turn slightly right and push the red button on the display. This small puzzle requires the correct sequence, which is different from one game to the next.
