The following is a guide for earning all achievements for Meridian: New World. This guide assumes that you are familiar with the basics of gameplay and the games controls. This guide is not intended to be a step-by-step walkthrough for all parts of the single player campaign. All achievements will be listed in this guide for the sake of completeness, even those that are trivial. These achievements will be listed so that achievements with a common theme or are related to one another are grouped together. Use your browser's search function to jump to specific achievements. In general it is easier to get several of these achievements once you reach a high enough Commander Level, so that you have more and higher level abilities to use during battle. You should play through the single player campaign at least once before attempting some of the harder achievements, so that you familiarize yourself with the maps and have more abilities to use. By default, the game automatically makes a save of every new section of every mission, so you can always open an old save file, restart the mission, and try again for any achievement you miss. You might want to have a couple of manual saves at key areas, though. These will be explained below. We Made This Happen: Watch the entire credits video. -Select the credits from the main menu and play them to completion. Trivial. Nice To Meet You: Meet the enemy in the first mission. Complex Problems: Enter the Complex. An Ally: Rescue Catherine Morgan from the Complex. -All three are unlocked during the course of the main campaign. You dont need to go out of your way to get them as long as you keep playing the campaign. Medic!: Produce a Scout with healing. -Research both Scout upgrades at the laboratory, then build a Scout. This can be done during the campaign or a skirmish match. Trivial. You Shouldn't Have Seen That!: Read Jenny's first personal log entry. You REALLY Shouldn't Have Seen That!: Read Jenny's personal log entry after the fifth mission. -After the first mission, go to the Engineering room and use the computer to get everyones password. Then read Jennys computer. Do the same thing after the fifth mission. Trivial. Hero In Town: Do not lose any turrets in the first mission until the final battle. -If your turrets are running low on health station some troops in front of them so enemies will fire at the troops and not the turrets. This shouldnt be too tough. Dont forget to heal your troops if they are low on health, but you cant heal turrets this way. That Was Fast!: Finish the first mission in less than 15 minutes. -If its your first time playing, you might need to try this map a couple of times, but it isnt too difficult as long as you move towards the base as fast as you can. Can't Sit Still...: Expand to a new location. -Build a shardium mine on a deposit. Trivial. Flawless: Do not lose a single unit in the initial raid of the second mission. -As long as you keep an eye on your units health and heal when necessary you should be fine. If you have any problems with this mission its probably because you moved your units too close to the enemy turrets at the north of the map. Your Scouts will heal nearby units automatically, but Scouts arent as durable as Chimeras. Shiny! Let's Be Bad Guys: Destroy all enemies before taking out the last Power Plant in the second mission. -The description is a bit misleading. You need to destroy all enemy units and buildings, not just enemy units moving around. Play the mission as normal. When you get into the enemy base, destroy all but one power plant. Then destroy all turret centers, then every building other than the power plant. Double check the area first to make sure youve destroyed all enemy miner chimeras, since they wont move anywhere. Then destroy the last power plant. That's Not Gonna Fly: Choose to take out the Landing Pads at the beginning of the third mission. You And What Army? Choose to take out the Light Factories at the beginning of the third mission. You Asked For It!: Choose to take out the Turret Centers at the beginning of the third mission. -At the beginning of the third mission you get to choose between one of these three. Each of them are simple and none of them significantly affect the rest of the mission. Id start with one of them, complete the mission, and then reload an earlier auto-save and choose the second one. Do the second one, then reload an earlier auto-save and do the third one. So Far, So Good: Reach wave 15 in the Turret Defense with 6 Turrets. That's The Way To Do It!: Finish the Turret Defense with 8 Turrets. -These two can be pretty challenging, especially to a new player. Your Commander levels wont matter, since your normal abilities are replaced with abilities specific to the turret defense mission. To start, youll want three anti-vehicle turrets and three anti-infantry turrets on the right side of the map. Leave one space between each of them, since rockets deal splash damage and can damage multiple turrets with one attack. Keep an eye on your shardium. You want at least 200 in reserve at all times in case you need to use Explosion. Be patient with Explosion and use it to kill multiple enemies with Sniper Lasers at once. At the same time, any shardium over 1,000 is wasted so dont be afraid to heal your turrets when necessary. Healing a turret refills its health to the maximum, so only use it on heavily damaged turrets. After a while youll get air turrets unlocked. Build two of them, slightly northeast of your turret center. Leave a space between the two. You might not get them up and running before the air units arrive so have a few Chimeras as backup. -Chimeras are often a waste of time in this mission, but they have their uses. If you are near the 1,000 shardium limit you might as well create a couple so no shardium is wasted. If you have a single enemy with a Sniper Laser firing at you, two Chimeras can kill it and thats cheaper than Explosion. You cant control Chimeras and they have a nasty habit of running in front of your turrets and getting themselves killed. Place several around your turret center as backup against air attacks but dont rely too much on them. Choosing to destroy the Landing Pads earlier on in the third mission doesnt affect the turret defense mission. -Save a lot! Keep multiple save files since this often is a matter of luck. Also it doesnt matter how much health your turrets have at the end of Wave 25 as long as you have 8 of them. It doesnt matter if you lost turrets during this mission as long as you have 8 when it ends. Seriously?!: Destroy the enemy base at the end of the third mission. -You can do this with some preparation and if you build a large enough force. Moving a unit inside of the red circled area triggers the enemy so that theyll start producing units. However, if you have units outside of the red area, you can fire at buildings in the red area with impunity. This will slow them down a little. After you do this I recommend reloading an earlier auto-save and completing the mission with stealth. Doing this mission with stealth is necessary to unlock the Loyalty Master achievement. Labyrinth Cleaner: Kill all enemy units in the Labyrinth. -The Labyrinth is the large outdoors area where the radar doesnt work. This achievement is a bit easier if you have the Reveal ability, so you dont need to run around quite as much. An ability like Electric Strike might help out too if you get lazy, but you probably wont have both yet if this is your first time plaything through the campaign. You get two Scouts with Sniper Lasers that will come in handy for killing the enemys Turret Center. Be careful with them because they run ahead of your Chimeras and are more vulnerable than Chimeras. The center-north part of the map leads to the next scene. Dont go in there until the achievement unlocks, but be forewarned that there are enemies in that center-north area. Im not certain if you need to destroy all buildings, but youll want to destroy the Turret Center anyway and the power plant and storage arent too tough to take out from a distance. Watch your units carefully and heal when necessary and this shouldnt be too tough. There is no time limit. Confinement Broken: Build two new Shardium Mines during the fourth mission. -Just build two mines before completing the mission. You can put this off until you cripple the enemy enough, as long as the mines are complete before you finish the level. Saved the day! Do not lose more than 10 units during the fourth mission. -This isnt too bad if you strike at the enemy quickly, before they get too powerful. At the start of the mission there is a factory to the west of the base and a factory to the east. Youll want to destroy these quickly with your initial troops. Build some turrets to the north of your base to protect it. Head north from your base with your forces to destroy the enemy factories and power plants. Use chimeras with sniper lasers to safely destroy turrets and turret centers from a distance. As usual, watch your units health and heal when necessary. Rotate your troops to keep heavily damaged units off of the front lines. Patron of Sciences: Research all available tech in the fifth mission. -Youll get plenty of shardium to research everything you need, so its pretty easy to do. Once you unlock this, restart the mission from the beginning. The only useful research is for auto-cannons and sniper lasers. Tactician: Do not lose more than 5 Fighters in the fifth mission. -This requires careful unit management. It might even be best to put off this achievement until you have a high Commander level. Youll want Fighters equipped with Rockets, to use against enemy Fighters. Youll also want Fighters equipped with Sniper Lasers, since they can hit things from long ranges. Youll also want to keep both groups of Fighters separate from one another for your convenience. Your healing abilities will be especially useful. Conflagration might help to destroy a few buildings safely from a distance, notably Landing Pads, but you might not have Conflagration on your first playthrough. You can use abilities to kill enemy Fighters, who are probably the most dangerous units on the map because they have Rockets, which are very damaging to Fighters. Save and reload a lot if necessary. Perfectionist: Complete all mission objectives in the fifth mission. -Just follow instructions and you wont have any trouble. Youll need to kill off the few enemy Miner Chimeras before they start building a lot, but this isnt difficult. Make sure you have a good size squadron of Fighters and dont waste any shardium by going over the limit. 7200 RPM: Capture all Storages and defend them in 30 minutes in the sixth mission. -The time pressure isnt that bad. What youll want to do first is secure the two shardium deposits to the northwest and to the east and build shardium mines at both. You want the extra unit support and minerals they offer. Build a couple of power plants to the north of the shardium mine to the east. You want to create a "chain" of buildings towards the gap on the northeast of the map, where you can build a bunch of turrets. Build 2 or even 3 Turret Centers and spam the area near the entrance with anti-infantry and anti- vehicle turrets. Do not capture all six storages until you are ready. When you take all six storages, a five minute countdown will start. Hold all six storages until it reaches zero. -An alternate strategy involves building some Fighters with Sniper Lasers, and sending them east over the mountains to the enemy base. Be careful of anti-air turrets. A sniper Laser Fighter can hit an anti-air turret without taking any fire if it is far enough. You can destroy a lot of their base from the inside if you are fast enough. Combine these two strategies if you have enough minerals but keep your eye on the clock. Elevator Music: Visit Cole after the fifth mission. -After the fifth mission, go to the Storage area (the big room in the middle of the Magellan) and take the elevator up. Speak to Cole. Trivial. Strategist: Do not lose more than 20 units in the seventh mission. -There are two enemy factions and theyll fight one another, but they often focus on you. They can only reach your base through a passageway far to the north so concentrate turrets there. Turrets dont count as units so you can build and lose them without penalty. Id recommend building fighters with sniper lasers and doing opportunistic attacks on your enemies. The base to the north tends to get more and more powerful as time passes so you might want to take them out first. You can use your fighter with sniper lasers to attack the power plants by the mountains at the north base. It's All Mine!: Own a total of three Shardium Mines by the end of the seventh mission. -Build shardium mines whenever you have the opportunity. Theres one to the north and one to the west. Build a few extra turrets for defense. Trivial. True Survivors: Do not lose a single Trooper until the final battle in the Complex. -If you have the Shield powerups, use them on your Troopers before heading out into battle. The extra damage resistance helps tremendously. Also make sure you have a group healing ability. -The enemies are all Sentinels, which have a splash attack. The Sentinel will target only one of your Troopers, so move that Trooper away from your others, while still in range of the Sentinel. -At one point youll get turrets and an onslaught of enemy Sentinels. The turrets can die without penalty. Keep your Troopers in the center of them. This requires careful micromanagement. -This achievement unlocks at the part where you get Chimeras, towards the end of the mission. Escapist: Rescue the Heavy Chimeras during the Escape mission. -Youll want to rescue the Heavy Chimeras for the rest of the mission anyway. Just remember to keep your units with Sniper Lasers separate from the rest of your units since they can take on the turrets without being damaged. Run Forrest, Run!: Finish the tenth mission in less than 20 minutes. -20 minutes is plenty of time even with taking the detour to get Heavy Chimeras early on. The only real hard part is the chase at the final phase of the mission. Youll want to keep Daniel and Catherine moving forward, past all enemies. Dont stop to fight anything. Keep an eye on their health. Using the Shield powerups on them can help, but isnt strictly necessary. Outpost Economy: Construct both a Heavy Factory and a Landing Pad during mission 11. Outpost Food Supply: Use 30/30 food during mission 11. Outpost Preparations: Own nine Heavy Fighters during mission 11. Wind Fast: Finish mission 11 in less than an hour. -An hour for mission 11 is plenty of time. I finished this mission and all objectives, on a first playthrough, in roughly 40 minutes. Youll want to build 4 Turret Centers and roughly equal amounts of anti-infantry, anti- vehicle and anti-air turrets. Use the Extra Power ability repeatedly on your Power Plants to save space. Heavy Fighters with Railguns are a powerful weapon against a big cluster of enemy units, and the waves get huge. After you use Daniel to start the next wave, move him to the far left of your base and have him hold position so he doesnt get dragged into fighting. Make a separate save file before starting Wave 6 (more on this below). The stealth part in the beginning and the escort part at the end of the mission shouldnt be any trouble. Loyalty Master: Gain 12/11 crew loyalty. -You get loyalty points during the campaign based on the decisions you make. Completing all 9 simulation missions awards 9 points. It isnt necessary to get any simulation-related achievements to get these 9 points. -When you are prompted to make a choice early on in the campaign, choose "We're not leaving until we investigate this." -Do not accuse Donovan of being a traitor. -In the third mission, sneak into the base and don't destroy it. -Do any two of the three: The first time you talk with Jenny, agree with her theory, or talk to Jenny when Cole is imprisoned and ask if she talked to him, or the last time you are on the Magellan, talk to Jenny and tell her to keep you posted. You'll need this for the She's Here to Stay achievement too. Master Tactician: Do not lose a single unit on board the Magellan. -This is the second to last mission in the campaign. You want to get the Loyalty Master achievement so that when you start on the Magellan mission, you have the maximum number of units available. Jenny in particular has a healing aura like Scouts, only it works faster. Move slowly and stay at full health. If you have the Shield abilities, use them on every unit you have. If you have Electric Strike, use it on vehicles. Itll get boring quickly though. -If you are willing to sit around and regenerate your energy, you shouldnt have any trouble until you get to the part with the turrets. My only advice is to save before you attempt this part and keep trying. It requires careful micromanagement. Note that if the turrets die you are still eligible for the achievement. -After this part, youll meet up with Catherine and a group of Heavy Chimeras. If these units die, you cant get the achievement, so have them all pull back immediately and regroup with the rest of your forces. It should be smooth sailing after that. She's Here To Stay: Gain Jenny's loyalty and keep her alive until the end of the game. -You must have Jenny join the party in the Magellan mission. Read the Loyalty Master achievement on how to do that. She must survive that mission and then the final mission. -Jenny is not mission critical. If she dies, the game will continue as usual. Fortunately, she has a healing aura like Scouts and is an infantry, so shes easy to spot among your other units. -After the initial part of the final mission, move her to the most southeast part of your base and make her hold position so she wont be in combat. The final mission is intense, but resist the urge to bring her to the front lines for additional firepower. The final mission gets too chaotic to babysit her. I also dont recommend moving your damaged units near her for the free healing. Itll take too long and youll probably end up selecting her and bringing her back into battle. Simulation Completionist: Accomplish all simulation missions. -The simulations are fairly easy to do and should only take a minute or two for each one. There are nine in total. Individual simulations will be marked as Completed or Not Completed. Just be sure to check the Simulation Room after each campaign mission. This is needed for the Loyalty Master achievement. It isnt necessary to unlock the other simulation-related achievements to unlock this one. Scout Rush: Accomplish the first Scout simulation in less than 35 seconds. -Move all of your scouts to the enemy power plant immediately and have them attack it. Ignore any enemies you meet along the way. When your Scouts get near the power plant, start using the Boost Firing Rate ability on them. Conflagration looks tempting, but it doesnt deal enough damage for it to be useful. This may take a few tries and if you get it youll probably get it with only a second or two to spare. Scout Protector: Do not lose a single Scout in the second Scout simulation. Survivors: Do not lose a single Trooper in the first trooper simulation. -Move slowly and keep an eye out for your health. Trivial. Chimera Rush: Accomplish the second Chimera simulation in less than 1:20. -This is the hardest of all simulation-related achievements, and one of the hardest achievements in the game. To start, you have two groups of Chimeras. The group on the left is anti-infantry. The group on the right is anti- vehicle. The group on the left needs to kill the enemies directly south of it, then the enemies to the southeast. The group on the right needs to kill the enemies directly south of it, then the group on the southwest. -The anti-infantry Chimeras kill the infantry faster than the anti-vehicle Chimeras kill the vehicles. You need to issue orders to each group very quickly. They both should be moving and fighting at the same time. -After you defeat the first group of infantry, send a couple of anti-infantry Chimeras to meet up with the anti-vehicle Chimeras. They need the extra firepower. -You also need to destroy two power plants. Dont bother with Conflagration since it wont deal enough damage. A maxed out Explosion is a good way to deal a lot of damage to enemy vehicles. Boost Firing Rate might help take out the power plants. -You will need to practice this one a lot and youll probably only squeak by with a second or two to spare. Chimera Saver: Do not lose a single Chimera in the third Chimera simulation. -This is fairly easy. Destroy the power plants without triggering the enemies first, and most of the enemies will be inactive. Just keep an eye on your health. I Got What It Takes: Produce a Vanguard Show 'em Who's Boss!: Own a fully charged Vanguard -This is easiest to do on an Easy AI skirmish match. I dont recommend doing this on the last campaign mission since youll be pressed for time and resources. Vanguards are towards the end of the tech tree and need a Heavy Factory. Once you build a Vanguard, keep it out of harms way for a while and youll have both achievements. It isnt necessary to use the Vanguard to attack or destroy anything. Aggressive: Have at least two Shardium Mines in the first 10 minutes of a skirmish match. All your base are belong to us! Expand to three locations in a skirmish match. Economy Master: Collect at least 1200 Shardium in the first 10 minutes of a skirmish match. -Play a skirmish match against 1 Easy AI and rush shardium mines and a couple of mining chimeras. You took your time: Play a skirmish match for over one hour. -Play a skirmish match against 1 Easy AI. Rush some Troopers and take out the enemy Chimeras and any unit-producing building. Then let the game idle for an hour, or use this free time to get some other achievements. Little-loser: Win a skirmish match by not losing more than 10 units. Flawless Victory: Do not lose a single unit in a skirmish match. -Play a skirmish match against 1 Easy AI. Rush Troopers and attack as fast as you can and you should be fine. Keep an eye on unit health and heal if necessary. Producer: Produce at least 25 units in a single skirmish match. Mass Producer: Produce at least 50 units in a single skirmish match. Maxed Out: Get 60/60 food in a skirmish match. -Play a skirmish match against an Easy AI. Rush Troopers and take out enemy unit-producing structures and Chimeras. Then you are free to expand to new shardium deposits. You can get all three achievements by building 4 new shardium mines and mass producing Troopers and Chimeras. Shardium Collector: Mine 20 000 Shardium in a skirmish match. Shardium Hoarder: Mine 30 000 Shardium in a skirmish match. -This goes well with the three above achievements. Start a skirmish match against an Easy AI. Build several shardium mines and storages and mine everything in sight. Note that the requirements are to have mined a cumulative number of shardium; you dont need to have 20,000 or 30,000 in storage. However, you cant tell how much shardium youve mined until the statistics page at the end of the skirmish match. You can always save right before you finish off the enemy, and if the achievement doesnt unlock, reload the game and mine some more. -Also note that you cant mine anything if you are at your storage limit, so youll have to spend more or build more storages. Thats why this achievement goes well with the Producer/Mass Producer/Maxed Out achievements above. Heavily Armed: Own a Heavy Fighter equipped with Railguns. I Can Do Both!: Own a Landing Pad and a Heavy Factory by the end of a skirmish match. -Play a skirmish match against 1 Easy AI. Take out enemy unit-producing structures and build at your leisure. Heavily Armed can be done in a campaign mission (and Heavy Fighters with Railguns are powerful units, so they do come in handy). Early Game Master: Own at least five Chimeras with Charger Cannons in the first 10 minutes of a skirmish match. -Play a skirmish match against an Easy AI. This one is easy to do, but you need to rush a Laboratory as soon as you can in order to research Charger Cannons. Conflict Solver: Beat a hard AI on 'Conflict'. Desert Eagle: Beat a hard AI on 'Desert Warfare'. En Garde: Beat a hard AI on 'Frozen Duel'. Ice Breaker: Beat a hard AI on 'Breeze'. Lumberjack: Beat a hard AI on 'Forests'. Blocked: Beat a hard AI on 'Blockade'. Veteran: Beat a hard AI on 'Battlefield'. You're on Meridian:Beat a hard AI on 'New World'. Rush Hour: Beat a hard AI on any 1v1 skirmish map in less than 10 minutes. -The same strategy works for all of these maps and in some cases can get you the Rush Hour achievement. You have to work very quickly to get a Turret Center up and running ASAP. Also you need a maxed out Reveal, and a maxed out Conflagration ability. -Immediately start work on a power plant. Then use Reveal on the enemy base and Conflagration on the shardium mine. That should lower its health by 40%. Your goal is to use Conflagration 3 times as soon as you can while getting an anti-infantry turret and anti-vehicle turret up and running. -Build order should be power plant, barracks, vehicle factory, turret center, power plant, anti-infantry turret, anti-vehicle turret. Dont bother with anything else. -Build your base fairly compact. You dont want enemy Troopers attacking undefended areas. The bulk of the forces they will send to your base will be Troopers, but theres usually a Scout or Chimera among them. Thats why the anti-infantry turret is a higher priority to the anti-vehicle. -Start building Troopers when you have your base set up, and a fifth mining Chimera. Then build laser Chimeras alongside Troopers. Use waypoints from your barracks and factory to reduce travel time and micromanagement. -Using Reveal and Conflagration will take around 95% of stored energy. Dont let your energy ever sit at 100%. You need every second. -Once the enemys shardium mine is taken down, its just a matter of mopping up. Theres probably a few units left at their base, so attack with a large group. The AI usually builds a storage, so they may train a couple of extra units. At this point save your excess energy for healing, but if you dont need to heal, use Conflagration again on a large building like the barracks or vehicle factory for added damage. -If you move quickly enough, you should be able to clear a few of the maps in around 9:30-9:59 for the Rush Hour achievement. Every second is going to count. There's a Brand New World: Reach commander level 5. There's Still a Lot To Improve: Reach commander level 10. There's Something Nice Here: Reach commander level 20. There's Nothing You Can't Do: Reach commander level 30. Almost There!: Reach commander level 40. There Can Be Only One: Reach commander level 45. -These should be the last achievements you worry about. Completing the single player campaign twice and getting all other achievements should get you to level 30 or so. There are two ways of getting a lot of experience in short order. -First, you get experience points for building units, defeating enemy units, and researching. All experience points earned in campaign mode and skirmishes count towards one global total. -If you want to get a lot of experience points by defeating enemy units, play Wave 6 of Mission 11 repeatedly. See the above section on the Mission 11 achievements. Defeating all enemy units on Wave 6 should give you roughly 300+ experience points and should only take a minute or so. Defeat Wave 6, load up the save file, and start Wave 6 again. -Research is the other good way to get experience points. Youll get more from researching at a laboratory than from killing or building one individual unit. Start up a skirmish mode versus one Easy AI. Build up your base and build several laboratories. Build a few shardium mines and stockpile a good amount. Then have all of your laboratories start research on as many projects as possible all at once. Then save the game. Wait for all of the research to complete. Youll get experience points equal to 10% of the minerals you spend. -If you are skilled with a macro recorder, you could automate this. Have the macro recorder load the game, wait until all the research is complete, then access the menu and reload the game. Have this loop repeatedly and set your computer to run overnight. Note that there is no in-game macro recorder and youll have to get an external program for this. Several macro recorder programs are free, but recommendations for macro recorders and instructions on how to use them are beyond the scope of this guide. -If you are struggling with one of the other achievements, you could use one of these methods to gain a few levels, buy some new abilities and then go back to it.
