BA008 ================= =Version History= ================= (BA001) Created: January 28, 2014 V. 1.00 -- 1-28 -- Completed Broken Age Act One walkthrough. ================== =About This Guide= ================== (BA002) In this, I will cover the location and details on all the Items, and where to use the Items; I will cover the Playable Characters and the relevant Non-Playable Characters. I will be using a Windows PC to play the game. The Guide will not cover any of Tim Schafer's previous games. Please look for titles such as "Day Of The Tentacle," "Full Throttle," "Grim Fandango," "Psychonauts," or "BrĂ¼tal Legend." To produce the 'u' with an umulate on top, simply hold down "Alt" and type "0252" on the Num Pad (Windows Only). Right now only Act One has been released. Act Two will not release until later in 2014. I will update the guide as Version 2.00 with Act Two included. Also to note, if you want a printable version of this guide, simply open up Microsoft Word, change the font to "Courier" or "Courier New" and change the font size to Eight (8). These settings will keep the Guide in its original condition and will print lovely on fine pieces of paper. ================== =About The Author= ================== (BA003) This is my fourth FAQ, but this is my first Adventure Game walkthrough. My name is Joey Zakutny. I've been a member of GameFAQs for over ten years and I've created a handful of Guides. After a little hiatus, I've returned to create more. Writing has been a favorite past time for me, and jotting down notes after a playthrough came naturally to me. I work full time and have graduated College. Video Games has remained a favorite past time for me. When I get done this guide, it'll be a major accomplishment in my FAQing career here on GameFAQ's. I thank you already for just clicking on it... -- Joey Zakutny ============ =Characters= ============ (BA004) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shay -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the main characters for the video game Broken Age. 14 years old, he is stuck on the ship Bassinostra and is brought up by a overly protective computer/mother. Shay has grown bored of the ship and its many amusing, and childish, games (disguised as "missions"). He seeks Adventure and a way to escape the childish games loop. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vella -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the main characters for the video game Broken Age. She is 14 years old and she has been chosen as a sacrifice to the monster Mog Chothra for the town Sugar Bunting. Despite being chosen, a high honor, for a sacrifice, Vella cannot help but think "What if we fight the monster instead?" Primed with this question, she seeks to find a way to destroy the monster, Mog Chothra, for good, to save her town of warriors turned bakers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Curtis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A humble hipster lumberjack whom resides outside of Shellmound. His profession as a lumberjack is stalled when the trees suddenly start talking back to him. He vows to never use an axe again as long as the trees are talking to him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Harm'ny Lightbeard -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A fraudulent guru whom likes to keep his population of Meriloft high up in the air on hyper buoyant clouds. He likes to keep a stash of golden eggs hidden in his cloud. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walt'r -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A father whom brought his entire family to Meriloft, and gave away their entire savings to Harm'ny Lightbeard so they can join the cult, I mean Meriloft crew. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ch't -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clearly under his father, Walt'r's wing, Ch't stands behind his Dad's decisions, being too young to realize his Dad is being lied to. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Car'l -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wife turned shoemaker, Car'l is very clumsy and is quite exasperated that her husband had spent their savings to live in Meriloft. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- M'ggie -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Down to Earth (heh) daughter of Walt'r, she's found attending the eggs, dusting them often to keep them clean and light. She uses a ladder to reach high places, but don't mention her height -- She's bitter and self-conscious about it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marek -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A mysterious wolf (or disguise?) whom lives inside the spaceship Bassinostra in secret. Marek is carefully cunning and uses his intelligence to manipulate various characters he meets for his own goals. However, his goals are a mystery. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mother/Computer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The AI of Shay's ship, Bassinosra. She is overbearing and overly protective of Shay, even going as far as lying to him about parts of the ship he cannot access. Due to her AI programming, she does not realize that Shay is 14 years old and is no longer an easily amused child. Her origin is a mystery, and resembles of that of another character. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alex -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A mysterious individual whom controls a ship much alike to Shay's ship, the Bassinostra, and shares quite a similar fate. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Space Weaver -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A robot with a spool of yarn on top of his head. He knits a NavScarf that he uses to travel through time and space itself. He is programmed to only use Star Charts to create NavScarfs, but what happens when you change the NavScarf? ========== =Controls= ========== (BA005) I imagine that you didn't see yourself viewing the "Controls" section of a classic point-and-click Adventure Game anytime soon, did you? The controls are fully changeable in the Options menu under "Controls." You may also change the "Interaction Style" in the Control menu to "Drag" instead of "Click" (Default). This will allow you to examine items in your inventory with one click, and enables the click & drag interface. I often write "Click & Drag" in the Guide due to player preference, and the terminology works in both interfaces. "+" is the icon you will see most often on your screen. This + icon turns into an exploded circle that will indicate the area you're hovering above is click- able. Use the Mouse to move the + cursor around the screen. The object of the game is pickup items to solve puzzles, and to interact with the characters around you until you progress through the story. At any time you may move your cursor to the bottom of the screen to open up your inventory menu (Also accessible by right clicking at any moment). Here, you will see all of the current items that you have in your inventory, and all the way to the right here is a character icon. Clicking on this character icon will allow you to switch between the second playable character. You may switch the playable at any time, as long as the character you're switching to isn't knocked out. Left clicking on any item in your inventory ONCE will allow you to use that item anywhere on the screen. You can also Click & Drag the object from your Inventory to anywhere on the screen to use your item. Clicking TWICE will give you a brief description of the item. PROTIP: If you have a high polling rate mouse, your computer may lag a bit when you're clicking & dragging. Try lowering the polling rate to 100 or lower for a more satisfying experience. DOUBLE CLICKING an exit automatically skips the walking/running animation. ESC will allow you to pause the game by bringing up a menu at the top of the screen. SPACEBAR will allow you to skip any dialog or cutscene. ============= =Walkthrough= ============= (BA006) Clicking on "New Game" brings you to a Character Select screen with both Vella and Shay sleeping in their respective environments. Vella, whom is sleeping against a tree, is to the left. Shay, whom is sleeping against the wall of his bed, is to the right. It does not matter who you select first, but I think a good rule for video games is to always go LEFT. So, I'm choosing Vella first. If you select Shay first, do not fret. You can always change to another character at any given time, and you may skip to Shay's section of the guide. For Shay's section, select Ctrl + F and type in "BAS01" without the quotes. ================================================================================ =(BAV01)============================================================= Vella ================================================================================ Click on the girl, Vella, to start the game. You may have gotten here when you completed Shay's Act first. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Sugar Bunting------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV02) Here, click her to wake up and click over to the left to the girl yelling Vella's name. Her name is Rocky. Click down the path and click on the house that Rocky enters to follow her in- side. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Vella's House------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV03) The house is pitch dark, but you know Rocky is in here. Vella says "Hello?" and click anywhere inside the house to initiate the next cutscene. Clearly, Rocky is excited for the cake, but your Mother needs to find the ceremonial knife. Alright, ladies and 'gents, our first puzzle. Click on the purple TOWEL towards the bottom of the screen (South of Rocky) to grab it. The knife isn't underneath the towel, but CUPCAKES are and Grandpa does remark that you will not be able to find the knife. That's a clue. Though, for now, click on the CUPCAKES that you're in front of and Vella will take one. Go talk to gramps. Do so by clicking on him. He's over on the right looking through the window. Clicking on him initiates a dialog with him and you will see the first dialog tree Broken Age has. Be sure to click through all the dialog options. We know he has the knife. We know he doesn't want to help the "Shame Feast" and we know that he wants a cupcake. It's awfully convenient that we have a cupcake right? Now open up your inventory and click & drag the CUPCAKE to Grandpa. In the dialog tree select "Split it with you?" and Gramps will throw the KNIFE on the table. Click the KNIFE to take it. Walk away from Gramps towards your Mother and click & drag the KNIFE to her. This will initiate the next cutscene. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Sugar Bunting Maiden Feast----------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV04) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Towel + +Knife + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Well, that escalated quickly. Vella will be in her costume with "Up for grabs" written on it, and four other young ladies will be around her wearing other ... colorful dresses. Talk to all four girls whom are around you to initiate the next cutscene. Go talk to the girl with the drink to your right. Ask her for the DRINK and you will trade your CORSET for her DRINK. Talk to her again and ask for the DRINK back. Talk to the girl on your left with the drunk stick and ask her to trade something for it. Choose "How about something bubbly to wash it down?" Give her the TOWEL. Next, use the CORSET on the bird. Afterwards, use the KNIFE on Vella's dress. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Meriloft----------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV05) Welcome to cloud colony, or Meriloft. You can go ahead and talk to the guys down to the South of you to introduce yourself with their world. The first thing you'll notice is some light pooling in through a shallow part of the clouds. Do not walk on these as you'll fall right through, but luckily a Whoops-a-Birdy catches you. The second thing you'll notice is that Vella starts to slowly sink whenever she's on a cloud but not a path. To avoid this, we need CLOUDSHOES. Travel South of you down a ladder. Here, go right a little and talk to the girl hanging on the swing. To get the CLOUDSHOES choose "I really like your outfit." Next choose "Did you say something about shoes?" Now you'll own a pair of CLOUDSHOES. Click & Drag them onto yourself to equip them. Move back up the ladder. Now go to the NORTH EAST past Walt'r and go up the stairs. You'll see a little store that says "CLOUDSHOES." Speak to the lady here to get your next objective. Go through all the dialog options and you'll learn that she needs her KNIFE to make CLOUDSHOES. Very important, I imagine, in this economy. We better help her. You'll also learn about Harm'ny Lightbeard, the fraud guru, from her. Now with your next objective (Find Car'l a knife) go down the stairs and head to the right. Talk to the girl, M'ggie, off to the right. M'ggie is probably the only sane one left in her family, if you ask me. Go through her dialog options. You'll eventually see the dialog option for "What are you doing here, exactly?" and after that you'll see "How do you get to the eggs in the high nest?" to reveal "Hey, can I borrow your ladder?" Now, you have a LADDER. Afterwards, you'll notice that there is a KNIFE in a high place behind M'ggie that you wouldn't be able to access without a LADDER. Luckily, you have one. Use the LADDER on the cloud beneath the KNIFE. Now you can grab your KNIFE back. Click on the LADDER to get back down and Vella will instantly put the LADDER back in her inventory. Move back towards the left to get back to the Main area. Give the KNIFE to Car'l, the girl at the CLOUDSHOES store. Doing so will give you TOO LARGE CLOUDSHOES. Now you have to combine two items to make one item that you need. Do so by opening your inventory and Click & Drag the TOO LARGE CLOUDSHOES to the LADDER to make a CLOUD SAFE LADDER. Alright, let's give Harm'ny Lightbeard a visit. From here, go left towards the next screen. Here, you'll see three bowls of enlightening, a very tall ladder, and a guard. Talk to the guard, F'ther. No, not short for "Father," but "Feather." Place your CLOUD SAFE LADDER in one of the bowls of enlightening to access and climb the ladder. Say "Hi!" to Harm'ny Lightbeard to wake him up. Go through your dialog options as you would, but choosing "Can you help me kill Mog Cothra?" will get Harm'ny Lightbeard to "lay" a golden egg. Choose "Are you done with that golden egg?" You'll notice that it falls to floor below. "Why are you up so high?" to reveal that the ladder is as long as it takes to get down to the forest below. You may go through the rest of the options but that's all you need to know. Remember to pick up your CLOUD SAFE LADDER in the offering bowl, and pick up the GOLDEN EGG that fell, while you're at it, too. Move to the right to the main area. Up past Walt'r and Ch't is a blue bird guarding a golden egg, Jessie. Use your CLOUD SAFE LADDER on the cloud underneath to climb it. You don't need to talk to Jessie, so click on the sign behind her. Giant fruit tree, indeed. Go left to get there. At the giant fruit tree you'll more shallow spots. Be careful. Well, not quite, but I'll get to that later. Navigate between the shallow spots to get to the tree. Click on the tree itself and you will fall safely to the base. You'll hear someone screaming for help, so head off to the right onto the roots. You'll speak to Gus. You'll eventually learn about FRUIT and a Weakspot in the clouds. Behind him is Jessie's egg, but you cannot get to it yet as Gus grabs onto you and forces you to fall. For now, head back up the tree. Simply clicking the tree hollow to do so. Head around to the left and BEHIND the tree, and be careful not to fall through any weakspots. You will notice a low hanging branch that you can click on. This will shake the branch and drop a FRUIT. It falls through the cloud, but disregard that for now. Head back towards the right again, in front of the tree, and you'll see two weakspots to the right. Click on the spot to the right and nearest to the tree. You should fall on top of Gus, freeing him. A Whoops-a-Birdy catches you and flies you back to the top of the tree. Click on the tree again to fall to the base. Head left and you'll find the FRUIT from earlier in a nest. Grab the FRUIT. Head back to the right towards JESSIE'S EGG and grab that, too. Now, head up the tree. Head back towards the right and avoid any weakspots. Once you get back to Jessie, trade JESSIE'S EGG to her and Jessie will release a GOLDEN EGG. Grab the GOLDEN EGG. Now head down the CLOUD SAFE LADDER. Head towards the right of the screen. There's a path that goes North from M'ggie, take that path. Here you'll see your third and final GOLDEN EGG on a cloud in front of you. Normally, you'll use a LADDER and the bird will make it impossible for you to climb it since there's no path/wood to keep the LADDER from sinking. However, you should have the CLOUD SAFE LADDER which renders this useless. Use the CLOUD SAFE LADDER on the cloud underneath the GOLDEN EGG. Grab the GOLDEN EGG. Head back down South and go back towards Harm'ny Lightbeard. However, once you get the chance to place an offering, choose all three GOLDEN EGGS in each bowl of enlightening instead of just one. Click the ladder to bring the ladder back down to the forest. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Lumberjack's House------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV06) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Fruit + +Cloud Safe Ladder + +Cloud Shoes + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Immediately to the right you'll see a stained glass picture. Click on it to grab the STAINED GLASS SUN. Make your way down the stairs but examine the object above the fireplace to the left first. Now go talk to the man looking terrified. Go through the standard dialog options to learn about the piece of art he has hanging, and his axe. Grab the ART PIECE behind Curtis and the AXE to the right between the sewn portraits. If you cannot grab any of them yet, simply talk to Curtis again and choose more dialog options. Head outside by walking right. Curtis will warn you about an extremely territorial snake to the West, but we can disregard that bit entirely for now. Head down the path, examine the mailbox if you like, but when you get to the T-Intersection, head Right (Er, East). You'll see a tree that is trying to talk. Use your AXE on him to get him to talk. Get yourself through the standard dialog options and you'll learn about him getting sick from Curtis making a stool from someone he once knew, and that he is full of sap. Move on right. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Shellmound--------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV07) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Fruit + +Cloud Safe Ladder + +Cloud Shoes + +Stained Glass Sun + +Axe + +Art Piece + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Vella will remark that Mog Cothra hasn't arrived yet, which means that you can still find and kill him. Good news. Head over the bridge and go South towards the seagulls and you'll find some DRIFTWOOD. Grab the DRIFTWOOD and while we're at it, click on what the seagulls are eating. Fish blood. However, notice that the seagulls are seemingly attracted to it. Alright, moving on. Head up and right towards the girls/Maidens. You'll notice some PERFUME next to them that seemingly makes a Maiden more attractive to Mog Cothra. You cannot get to it yet. While we're here, you'll notice someone is trying to build a giant sand castle, but is failing when a wave washes away the sand. With that in mind, let's head to the right and up the stairs. Speak to the two standing guard. Meet Dead Eye Dawn and Dead Eye Courtney. You'll learn about Dead Eye Pyramid and the Riddle Of Yorn. You'll soon have the option to choose "Hey, can I get you guys something?" and then choose "Some more holy tear gas?" to acquire their HOLY TEAR GAS GUN. While we're here, we're going to solve the Riddle Of Yorn. It goes: You always take us down When we are in our prime Devour your sweet rewards Yet I'll return in time A child of mine will rise Out of his rotten bed Up from a hidden pit Long after I am dead The solution? Any ideas? The FRUIT! Give the Dead Eye Twins the FRUIT to gain access. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Dead Eye Pyramid--------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV08) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Cloud Safe Ladder + +Cloud Shoes + +Stained Glass Sun + +Art Piece + +Driftwood + +Holy Tear Gas Gun + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Here, you'll notice a small pedestal to the right that strikes an eerily familiar engraving of an object that you have. Place the ART PIECE you got from Curtis on the pedestal. Doing so will summon Alex from cyrogenic suspension and you'll engage through the dialog tree with him. His story has a very strong resemblance to another character we know in the story, doesn't he? Afterwards, you'll notice two pieces you can interact with behind Vella -- They are in between the gold triangles. Grab the top piece, the LASER COIL and replace it with the STAINED GLASS SUN. Now choose the bottom piece and it'll fall and break into pieces. Replace that with the LASER COIL. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Shellmound--------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV09) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Cloud Safe Ladder + +Cloud Shoes + +Driftwood + +Holy Tear Gas Gun + +Transmitter + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Here, head back to the fish blood and fill the HOLY TEAR GAS GUN with it, and now it will become FISH GUTS GUN. Walk to the Maidens and use the FISH GUTS GUN on them. Once they're distracted, steal the PERFUME from them. Go ahead and talk to the Mayor looking dude yelling directions. When you ask him about this hat, you need to choose "It looks great on you! Very fancy!" This will convince him that he's not suited for it and he will give it to you. You now have a BUCKET! You can walk away from him now and head to the right over the bridge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Lumberjack's House------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV10) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Cloud Safe Ladder + +Cloud Shoes + +Driftwood + +Transmitter + +Perfume + +Bucket + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Use the BUCKET on the Tree. Afterwards, walk towards Curtis' house. Give Curtis the DRIFTWOOD and he will give you a STOOL. No, not that kind of STOOL, but a three-legged, wooden STOOL. Head back towards the Tree (Tree is to the East) and show the STOOL to the Tree. He will barf into the bucket and you'll receive the BUCKET OF SAP automatically. Head back to the right to Shellmound. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Shellmound--------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV11) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Cloud Safe Ladder + +Cloud Shoes + +Transmitter + +Perfume + +Stool + +Bucket Of Sap + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Here, go back towards the Mayor and use the PERFUME on yourself. Now we give the Mayor the BUCKET OF SAP. The sand will now stay solid when a wave crashes into it. Talk to the Mayor again and choose "I need to enter the Maidens Feast!" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Shellmound Maiden Feast-------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAV12) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Cloud Safe Ladder + +Cloud Shoes + +Transmitter + +Stool + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Choose the TRANSMITTER in your inventory, but when you target his eyes, you'll find that it is ultimately useless. We need to find another weak point. Try targeting his arms/tentacles. You'll notice that the gun can only blast once every few seconds, but once it turns red you can fire. Blast off three of the arms/tentacles but leave one. And now stand still. When Mog Cothra grabs you, open up your inventory and use the CLOUD SAFE LADDER to force his mouth open. Target and blast his mouth now for the final kill. Congratulations, you've beaten Vella's Act One! If you haven't chosen Shay's Act yet, you will now be forced to play as Shay. If you completed Shay's Act first, you'll unlock a final Act One cutscene. ================================================================================ =(BAS01)============================================================= Shay ================================================================================ If you chose Shay for your first character playthrough: Awesome! Clicking on him will begin his story. You may have chosen his character first, or chosen automatically after completing Vella's First Act. Doesn't matter too much now since we're at the beginning. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Shay's Room-------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS02) Clicking on him will wake him up, but the dialog between the Father, Shay and the Mother is pretty priceless. A Cutscene will automatically take place. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Kitchen------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS03) Choose any type of cereal here you like. Cereals will continue until you're forced to pick the last one: "SPLARGH!" Pick up the SPOON. Use the SPOON on the cereal bowl to begin eating. Life this way must've been extremely unsatisfactory for his age. Before long, the alarm goes off. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Mission Control---------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS04) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Oh lord. Look at all these child toys in the Mission Control room. Wow. Here, you will have the option to embark on some missions. I recommend that you play through each mission now, though. Choose the "Let's catch that runaway train!" last as that's the mission you will use to escape out of your loop. For the Avalanche, simply choose the SPOON on the Ice Cream with the Yarn Pals in it. For the Defending the Friendship Circle, simply walk down the stairs and talk to the Yarn Pal that is moaning in pain. Suit up for the foreign body outside next. Simply walk to the right and click on the foreign body. This will give you a PRESENT. Finally, choose the runaway train. You'll notice the bridge isn't up, and that The Bridge Man is asleep. Clicking on The Bridge Man will have Shay yell at him to wake up, thus creating a bridge. BUT, clicking on The Bridge Man again will have Shay tell The Bridge Man to fall back asleep, closing the bridge. You want to close the bridge AFTER the Yarn Pal lets go of the train tracks. After nearly falling to your death, you'll have a cutscene and meet Marek for the first time. Marek will throw you a SCREWDRIVER. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Shay's Room-------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS05) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + +Present + +Screwdriver + ++++++++++++++++++++++ The Computer will cancel all further missions, and Shay will fake his snoring. Clicking on him will get him out of bed. Open up your inventory and click and drag the PRESENT on Shay to open it. You'll now have a GRABBIN' GARY. Off to the right you'll a humidifier, but attached to the humidifier is an AIR TANK. Click on the AIR TANK to take it. Walk to the right some more and you will see a vent. Use the SCREWDRIVER on the vent. This will reveal an INFLATABLE RAFT you can take. Combine the AIR TANK with the INFLATABLE RAFT to acquire the LITTLE LAZY ME. Walk back over to the bed and use the LITTLE LAZY ME on the bed to place your doppelganger there. Walk back over to the vent and click on it to crawl through it. The LITTLE LAZY ME will fool the Computer in thinking Shay is still in bed sound asleep. Pretty creepy that the Mother AI can override the Father AI at any moment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Bassinostra-------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS06) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + +Grabbin' Gary + +Air Tank + +Star Chart + ++++++++++++++++++++++ This will end up Shay in Marek's Control Room. Marek will be waiting for you there to explain to you a Mission that excites Shay. Marek will give you a STAR CHART to the Talon Nebula. You will need to take it to the Navigation Room. Marek will also give you an earpiece, but that isn't part of the inventory, and every once in a while Marek will chime in to talk to you. Here, move to the left and click on the crawl space to crawl through to the Navigation Room, where you will meet Space Weaver. He knits NavScarfs to travel through space and time. Give him the STAR CHART and he will transport you to the Talon Nebula. You'll notice that Space Weaver will have a long monologue between transportation, but you can speed up the process by talking to Space Weaver again. Once transported, crawl through the crawl space again to get to Marek's Control Room. Speak to Marek and he will explain to you how to use the Boom Arms to save the little creatures. Once you have control, you will notice a GREEN blinking button in the north-west corner. Click on that to lower the shields. Now a RED blinking button to the south-west appears. You want to click on it when the Boom Arm is directly over top the creature. Now that one creature is saved, the Movement controls will start to blink. Above the Movement controls is a radar system, which will show you the location(s) of the last remaining creatures. Move the ship to each creature and repeat the process until the mission is over. Marek will give you a STAR CHART to Danger System 5. Head back to the Navigation Room through the crawl space to the left. Give Space Weaver the STAR CHART to proceed to the next mission. Do not forget you can talk to the Space Weaver to speed up the transportation process. After- wards, go through the crawl space to get back to Marek's Control Room. Marek will automatically put you back in the controls of the Boom Arms. Lower the shields again to unlock the Boom Arm controls. Use the Movement controls to get to the next creature. Rinse and repeat! A cutscene will take place once you complete the Mission. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Shay's Room-------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS07) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + +Grabbin' Gary + +Air Tank + ++++++++++++++++++++++ After some fake snoring, head over to the vent to get to Marek's Control Room. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Bassinostra-------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS08) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + +Grabbin' Gary + +Air Tank + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Talk to the Marek, whom is on the left, and you will enter a dialog tree. Choose "The distress call was from Prima Doom? How do we get there?" to get a STAR CHART to Prima Doom. Don't forget to speak to Marek to get the rest of the details on how to hack the controls to the ship. Choose "How are we going to take down the shields?" to get a OMICRON INHIBITOR. Afterwards go through the crawl space and give Space Weaver the STAR CHART. However, I think we both knew that wasn't going to work. You will notice that you can travel to THREE places, though: Smile System, Puppy Planetoid, and Cozy Custer. You can choose "No way! I HAVE to go to Prima Doom right now! Lives depend on it!" then "Forget it. If we can't go to Prima Doom, I don't want to go anywhere." to skip travelling. Walk through the door on the left. Cutscene. Mother will explain to you an an oddly familiar story to you. You can walk up the stairs and engage in her dialog tree. Walk back down the stairs, go left and walk through the golden door on the left -- It is to the left of the red Space Weaver door. Here, you will see a Kitchen door in front of you. Go through that. Immediately towards the bottom of the screen you will see a KNIFE. Pick up the KNIFE. Nothing else left in here, so let's get out. To the left is a door that doesn't open (At least in Act One) and Shay's Room. Since we don't need either, exit to the corridor on the right. Go towards the right, past the staircase and you will see two doors. Choose the door on the right first. In this corridor is a bunch more mission rooms. The first is the Ice Cream Avalanche room. To the right of the Yarn Pals (Whom are playing cards, ha!) is a WHIPPED CREAM GUN. Grab it to add it to your inventory. Nothing else in here, so exit to the corridor. In the corridor, walk to the right some more and enter the Friendship Circle room. You will see a Yarn Buddy in pain, but this time something is actually in his back. Go down the stairs and go talk to him. Choose "Hey, maybe I can fix your back." to acquire CROCHET HOOK. Nothing else in here, so exit back to the corridor. Further down the hallway is an exit to your right. Go through the exit. Here you will see the Runaway Train room, but we don't need that. Off to the far right is the Airlock, which will lead to the outside space. We don't need to go there, yet either, so click on the blue door that is snoozing: The Teleporter! Here, the "Nexus" is three Teleporter rooms. You will also hear important dialog that explains that your head gets smaller as you use the Teleporters without going back through the same way. For now, just use the Red Door Teleporter to get to the junk room, er, I mean "Hall of Heroes." Click on the blue Baby SPACEMAN SUIT to acquire it, Shay will notice the HELMET comes off. Now you have the BABY SPACEMAN SUIT and BABY HELMET. Go through the crawl space to your right. This is Marek's sleeping quarters. You can examine the bed to confirm. By Marek's bed is a display of the creatures you rescued. You can just examine it, but you cannot free them. Nothing in here, so just use the exit to the right. Back to Marek's Control Room. Go to the Navigation Room and talk to Space Weaver. Choose "Cozy Cluster." When Space Weaver is going through his overly long dialog, hop down the ladder and use the CROCHET HOOK on the NavScarf. You will see a pattern like this: {} {} {X} {} {X} {} {X} {} {} {} But you will need to click on the correct {}s to create the STAR CHART for Prima Doom. Do so by creating this pattern: {X} {} {X} {} {X} {X} {X} {X} {} {} You will need to click on the left-most {} in the first row, the third from the left {} in the second row, and the left-most {} in the third row. Space Weaver will "accidentally" transport you to Prima Doom, and will want to travel you back to safety, but has run out of yarn. He will thus shut down in humiliation. Poor guy. Travel through the door on your left. Here, go right and you will see the two doors again. Choose the door on the left this time. Here in the Nexus, choose the middle, golden Teleporter. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Fusion Orb Room---------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS09) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + +Grabbin' Gary + +Air Tank + +Star Chart + +Omicron Inhibitor + +Knife + +Whipped Cream Gun + +Crochet Hook + +Baby Spaceman Suit + +Baby Helmet + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Now your head is REALLY TINY! Head down the hallway here and you will get a radiation suit. However, no helmet. Open up your inventory and click & drag the BABY HELMET onto Shay to equip it. Now you can walk through the blue security door to the left and proceed down to the Fusion Orb containment room. Place the OMICRON INHIBITOR on the Fusion Orb. Not much we can do now, though, so leave back into the Bassinostra. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Bassinostra-------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS10) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + +Grabbin' Gary + +Air Tank + +Star Chart + +Knife + +Whipped Cream Gun + +Crochet Hook + +Baby Spaceman Suit + ++++++++++++++++++++++ Now that our head is normalized, the BABY HELMET is too small to fit and bursts into pieces. Oh well. Now we need to get outside, though. Go through the blue Teleporter to the right. Here, go to the right and head to the airlock. Walk down the hallway and you will be sent outside. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Space-------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS11) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + +Grabbin' Gary + +Air Tank + +Star Chart + +Knife + +Whipped Cream Gun + +Crochet Hook + +Baby Spaceman Suit + ++++++++++++++++++++++ You will remember this part being the Foreign Body mission. Now, however, equip the AIR TANK onto Shay, the WHIPPED CREAM GUN and finally cut the rope using your KNIFE. Propel yourself up into the empty space by clicking above Shay. You want to propel yourself over the top of the antenna to your left and then go a bit more to the left to find the Boom Arms Manual Control. Use the KNIFE again to open the hatch. Use GRABBIN' GARY on the open hatch so he can grab the controls. Now that you're in control again, head to the right, and then go back down. Exit back into the Bassinostra. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Bassinostra-------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (BAS12) ++++++++++++++++++++++ + Inventory + +--------------------+ +Spoon + +Star Chart + +Crochet Hook + +Baby Spaceman Suit + +Gary Transmitter + ++++++++++++++++++++++ We need to go talk to Marek now. Exit the Airlock. Go back to the Nexus. Go back to the Navigation Room. Finally, go through the crawl space to Marek. Speak to Marek to begin the final rescue. The creatures are more difficult to capture this time because they're moving on the screen. Each subsequent creature gets more difficult, but since there is no time limit you may take your time. Once you capture all of them you will view the final cutscene. Congratulations! You completed Shay's First Act and possibly all of Act One! If you have completed Vella's Act first, you will view a final cutscene, other- wise Shay will get knocked out and you will be in control of Vella.
I'll see you next time when Act Two releases! I hope you enjoyed Broken Age as much as I did! ================ =Special Thanks= ================ (BA007) Special Thanks to Pic ASCII for my ASCII!
