Intro and General Info This walkthrough is meant for the English-patch version of this game. However, most of the English commands seem to be the same as the Japanese version. But if not, just try the Japanese equivalent. Here are some examples I'm pretty certain work for the Japanese version: assistant = joshu dummy = bokenasu neithardt = naitoharuto zigzag = fusafusa/oonusa tudor = pyuumaru (Mayuri's) watch = kaichu katsusand = katsusando/katusando (unconfirmed, all may work) From what I've read on a Japanese website, all of the other main commands seem the same, so you should be able to beat the Japanese version using this walkthrough with the above changes. I tried to keep this walkthrough spoiler-free, but since I'm telling you what commands to use, that in itself is a bit of a spoiler. It's a text-input based game, so not much I can do about that! If you're like me and you love everything Steins;Gate, and if you're like me and grew up with what is now very old-school gaming, then you should like this game! The story is a little silly, but the characters, music and dialogue are still very Steins;Gate, making this game worthwhile and amusing (for me anyway). The music is the same Steins;Gate music as always, but with an 8-bit twist! The gameplay itself behaves like an old-school text game, where you have to type in different commands to interact with the game. If you've never played a game like this, you need to pay close attention to the dialogue and descriptions of rooms you pass through (unless you look at a walkthrough like this) to figure out what commands you need to use and where to use them. It can be especially difficult since you often need to type things very specifically even when only given a vague hint. This game is particularly tricky with some of the things you have to do. In the menu (Alt key) you can quit, toggle fullscreen, change display/sound settings, etc. You probably want to keep "Machine Type" on MEC-PC8081, as it has the best quality. The other "Machine Type" options can be fun to play around with though, as they change some visual effects as well as the music. The descriptions of the types give you an idea of the changes. At the title screen, your options are "start" "load" and "help". After finishing the game you'll also have the option of listening to the game's music from here. "start" - Starts the game. Obviously. "load" - Loads a save file. There are ten possible save files, using each single numeral digit. Type "load (num)" to load a specific slot. "help" - Tells you what I just did basically. ============================================================================= 2. Game Controls/Commands To advance text, hit the "Enter" key, space bar, or left-click the mouse. Holding the "Ctrl" key quickly skips through text. You can also, and probably want to, skip the very slow (but interesting) graphics drawing effect. The other commands listed below are for when you get the "command?" prompt. Not a complete list, since special commands are needed at certain points in the game, but these are the common ones: (Shift) - Holding "Shift" shows you 5 'hidden' commands. But I'm going to tell you them all and more anyway. save (0-9) - Saves to one of ten slots (each single numerical digit) load (0-9) - Loads one of ten slots (each single numerical digit) l/left - Moves to the left. May not return to the previous screen if you previously went right. Don't ask. r/right - Moves to the right. May not return to the previous screen if you previously went left. Don't ask. f/front - Moves forward. May not return to the previous screen if you previously went back. Don't ask. back - Moves backward. May not return to the previous screen if you previously went forward. Don't ask. u/up - Go upstairs. This command won't show up as an option for some reason. d/down - Go downstairs. This command won't show up as an option for some reason. phone - Witness one of Kyouma's humorous monologues... I mean... important, secretive phone conversations. Do this once or twice every new room (or after a room changes) to see new dialogue. Sometimes offers valuable hints. look - See a description of the room. Can offer valuable hints. Also try "look (object/person)" when there are other important things/people in the room. assistant - Talk to everyone's favorite assistant-I mean celeb17 -I mean Christina-I mean the Zombie-I mean Makise Kurisu. She can offer helpful advice, and is sometimes necessary. talk - Talk to whomever is in front of you. If there is more than one person in the room, use talk (person). Other commands for amusement; try these when in front of people! Some work on inanimate objects, too. There may be more, but this is all I've found: kiss/hug/punch/kick/kill You can also type "sleep" at any point, but it always simply results in the message "Let's sleep." ============================================================================= 3. Walkthrough This is how this walkthrough will look: @@@ Name/description of current room you should be in (....) Sometimes I will have information in parentheses. These are my notes to you. My notes are interesting. Read my notes. > This is where I put a list of optional commands you can enter for amusement or descriptive purposes. Usually the order you do them doesn't matter. - If I use this, it means it is usually necessary, or at least useful as a hint, but can be skipped by following the walkthrough. The order I list the commands may matter. ! This command(s) is necessary. If I provide multiple commands, do in the order I say. Note: If I use a slash (/) between commands, it means either one(s) will work to provide the same result. x2 (or 3, etc.) means to enter the previous commands 2 (or 3, etc.) times in a row. Note 2: This walkthrough won't show you how to see EVERY bit of possible text in the game. I don't include: #1 things I don't find interesting e.g. "you can't go that way", #2 text you can see by going to an area before you need to go there (I'm keeping you from having to backtrack!), and #3 commands I just don't know (or forgot to include!). However, you'll definitely see most of the text by following all listed optional commands. ++++++++++ START! ++++++++++ @@@ Train Platform (left/back/jump - Do this is you want to kill yourself. Don't worry, this is one of only two rooms where you can lose the game that I'm aware of. I think it's just supposed to be a reference to how easy it can be to die in older text games. It's also a reference to a certain death in the anime/VN[visual novel]) > look, right, front, kiss, hug, punch, kill, phone x2 - talk ! down @@@ Train Station (The paper you can look at here gives an important code you'll need shortly enough... but optional to look at when using a walkthrough! Also, type "phone" after taking the poster for extra amusement.) > right, front, back, punch, phone x2, talk - look poster, look can, (optional: "kick"), move can, get paper ! get poster, up @@@ Train Platform (ride train - Do this if you want to lose the game. MEC PC-8081mk2SR > MEC PC-8081MH MEC PC-6010mk2 > MEC PC-6010 Shardo X1 > Shardo X1 turbo (These names are references to real-life Japanese companies... MEC=NEC, Shardo=Sharp, and there's also Fugitsu=Fujitsu) As far as I can tell, you can only get one extra, depending on which you used to finish the game your first time. I'm not fully sure on all the differences but check the descriptions of the types to see the basics. MEC PC-8081MH, which is the new setting you should have received, has a slight variation of all the music. ============================================================================= 5.
