This is an odd combination to be sure, but it works out extremely nicely actually! One of the 4 playable factions it the Resistance, the last bit of humanoid forces that aren't a monolithic force of death. ******************************************************************************* 4: Frequently Asked Questions ******************************************************************************* [040] Q: Is the Resistance the best faction? A: No, they are not. There is no "Best faction" in Urban Assault. It all depends on the users preferences. I prefer the Resistance, but my brother likes the Tearkastens and he beats me with them often. They are evenly matched and if you are good with one, stick with it! Q: Which map is he best map for the Resistance? A: Umm...like...the fouth one down....yeah... Actually, any wider larger map is the best for the resistance. It allows them to abuse their speed and tripple strike! Q: Where can I find Weapon/Armor/Vehicle/Building Upgrade X? A: Wrong guide buddy, see my other one! Q: If I follow your guide will I win for sure? A: Of course not. Nobody wins all of the time. However you will do much better than if you fought unprepared. Q: I found an error in your guide, what do I do? A: E-mail me! I will look into it! ******************************************************************************* 5: Faction Info ******************************************************************************* [050] The Resistance is an all around balanced faction, not favoring air or land, and has a wide variety of tanks, choppers, and planes to choose from. It has some of the best special units, and does have an decidedly balances anti-air/anti- ground approach. With everything from suicide trucks to long range artillery, you will find a vehicle for any situation here. Versus the Ghokovs: 8/10 The Ghorkovs are mainly and airborne faction. Most of their units are planes or choppers. While they do have two tanks, they are outclassed by yours. Your planes will take them apart before they know what hits them. Vs the Mykonians: 8/10 Again, the Mykonians are mainly air faction, but they have extremely weak shielding. Your Dragonfly absolutely tears them apart as do most of your other units. Vs the Tearkastens: 6/10 While you are easily capable of fighting the Tearkastens, they have extremely heavy armor and can take a lot of abuse from your weapons. This makes them the most dangerous foe you have. Their air units can take a good deal of punishment before dropping and the tanks can take a lot more. Focus on them first and take them out with the help of another faction. ******************************************************************************* 6: Resistance Pros/Cons ******************************************************************************* [060] PROS: Balanced The Resistance has a little of everything to choose from, from bombers and fighters, to tanks and choppers. Fast The Resistance is a fast faction overall and most units can dodge most weapon fire thrown at them with ease. This also allows them to quickly travers great distances quickly to hit key locations and targets. CONS: Fragile Weak shielding! They have the second weakest shielding in the game, just barly less than the Ghorkovs'. You do have some super heavy units like the Dragonfly and the Tiger, but for the most part they don't have strong armor. Pricey: The price for the really powerful resistance units is high...very high. While that is needed to maintain balance, it still hurts when one Dragonfly could turn the entire game around and you don't have the energy to make it. ******************************************************************************* 7: Multiplayer Strategies ******************************************************************************* [070] *********************** Vs Ghorkovs [071] *********************** The Ghorkovs use lots of choppers. The Ghargoil 1, 2, & 3 are the backbone of their military. Your planes tear them apart so abuse this. They have no real individual threat save that they will wear you down slowly and you may not even realize it until it is too late. More soon *********************** Vs Mykonians [072] *********************** The Mykonians have the most powerful weaponry in the game on average. While this would seem to give them an advantage, they trade off that in shield power. When fighting the Mykonians, deploy dragonflies and Weasle/Fox tanks. The Weasles are preferable because their shots will knock the Mykonian units back when they hit. The Dragonflies' machine gun literally rips apart the toughest Mykonian units in a little less than 1.5 seconds. Don't even get me started on the rapid fire missiles. A combinations of Weasles and a few Dragonflies will work well as the Weasles will keep them off guard and not able to aim well with the weak but high impact shells while the Dragonflies rip them to shreds! *********************** Vs Tearkastens [073] *********************** The Tearkastens main weakness lies in their speed. In fact, it is the biggest weakness in the game IMO. They are really. freaking. slow. If you spot them coming, you can take them apart long before they reach your base, so keep the radar online. Even a squad of a dozen Leonid Tanks that could wipe out your host station will fall to one player-controlled Wasp who intercepts it halfway. Abuse this speed fault and freate fast units to harrass them and then retreat, harrass, retreat, harrass, retreat, until you wear them down or lure them into your power unit squads! ~_^ There are two main threats you will face against them. The cloud of Mnosjetz or Hetzels: This is one of the most deadly attack forces you will ever face in this game. When you see them coming the thing to avoid is pulling back and strengthening your defenses. Avoid that like the plague! When you see them coming, strike fast and strike hard! Take all your anti air units and engage them head on as soon as you can. This will kill many of them and if they stop to fight your units you have given yourself more time, if they ignore your units and head trait for your station then your units can keep hammering on them. Plus the shock of a fronal assault will stop up the ones in the front which in turn slows down the ones behind it and checks the speed of them as a whole giving you time to build and send out more units. NEVER let them reach your base or, while some will be annihilated by your defences, they will overwhelm them and cause major damage regardless of how fortified you are. You always want the battle happening as far from your base as possible. If you can always take them out before they reach your base then the best they can do and the worst you can do is a stalemate! The army of Leonids or Eisenhans: The army of Leonids isn't very formidable if you see it coming. Always have Radar Stations or scouts when fighting the Tearkastens. If you see them coming just send some choppers to intercept them and take control of one yourself to wipe them out. If they reach your base and you didn't see them coming then beam the heck away as fast as you can and then create some choppers to go in and retake the power station. DO NOT STAY THERE! Allow me to reiterate! vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv DO NOT FREAKING STAY THERE! They will tear you apart! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ If you stay you *will* die. You strength lies in seeing them coming well before they reach you. ******************************************************************************* 8: Resistance Unit List ******************************************************************************* [080] ________________________________________________._____________________________. You are much faster than the other factions based on armor, the Mykonians are slightly faster than some of your units but they have no armor. Always remember this; Three strikes and they're out: Strike fast Strike hard Strike where it counts Don't EVER wast time going after some band of enemies that are attacking an enemy or could distract you from the main enemy targets like the power stations or Host Station. Odds are that they are trying to lure you away! Strike fast meas that if you see an oportunity, TAKE IT, even if it appears too good to be true. If it appears too good to be true, it probably is, so watch for ambushes. Strike hard means that you should never do anything piece-meal. When you come, come in full force and when you leave I want you to leave behind little or nothing at all. ANNIHILATE them when you go and completely overpower and show no mercy. Then once you have them, strip away anything that can be of use to you in terms of tech upgrades or power stations, and if you can't use it (I.E. scout armor upgrade) then destroy it so your foe can't have it. What may be a scout armor upgrade for you could be a powerful vehicle creation upgrade for your enemy. Strike where it counts is above sort of also. Take out their power stations and tech sectors. Do anything and everything that will hurt them and help you. NOTHING is dishonorable or "cheap." If they can't take you, they shouldn't have attempted to fight you! Impeding their ability to produce units is not only defensive, but offensive! Not only are they less able to repel you, but they are less able to attack you as well! Always pilot vehicle 1st person. The AI sucks. If you don't your foe who does will kill you. One human controlled unit is worth a dozen AI units. And those tips should just about do it for now! ******************************************************************************* 10: Credits ******************************************************************************* [100] CJayC for the superb site.
