I AM JUST DOING AN FAQ ON THE GAME.| Version History: v1.0 - I have owned this game for quite some time and now I am writing an FAQ for it. |XX-TABLE OF CONTENTS-XX| 01. INTRODUCTION-XX| I bought this game quite a while ago, and have since then bought Backyard Baseball 2001 (which I recommend over this, and may be doing an FAQ for later). In this game, you manage and control a little league team for baseball. It's a pretty fun game, though I will suggest newer versions like 2001 or 2003 (which I have yet to purchase). |XX-02. THE MAIN MENU-XX| There are quite a few things on the main menu for you to look at. For one thing, you can click on the bulletin board to go into League Play Mode (see Chapter 3). You can also click on the window to go into Pick- Up Window Mode (see Chapter 4). Clicking on the trophy or the robot will take you to the Hall of Fame. Clicking on the binder that says 'CARDS' will show you all of the players' stats. Clicking on the baseball will allow you to watch the intro again. Clicking on the ladder allows you to quit the game. |XX-03. LEAGUE PLAY-XX| To start League Play, click on the bulletin board at the main screen. Click on the pencil and type in your name (or click the letters on the pencil) until you are satisfied. Then press Enter. Now you can choose your team name and colors from short lists. On the left list (for the beginning of your team name), you can choose: Blue, Red, Crazy, White, Green, Little, Mighty, Super-Duper, Humongous, and Junior. On the middle list (for the end of your team name), you can choose: Bombers, Rockets, Hornets, Socks, Giants, Wombats, Melonheads, All Stars, Monsters, and Fishes. On the right list (for the colors of your team), you can choose: Black, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, Purple, Pink, and Grey. After deciding on the team name and colors, click 'Pick Teams'. Now, you may choose kids from the benches for your team by clicking on them and choosing the baseball nodding its head 'yes'. Once you have nine kids, you will go to the next screen. If you can't decide, choose 'Pick For Me' or wait until you read Chapter 5 of this guide. Now, you should click on the chalkboard that says 'Strategy' and set up your batting line-up and your positions for each person. Check Chapter 5 of this guide to see who works and where. Clicking 'Schedule' shows your team schedule. Clicking 'Statistics' shows the overall statistics of each player on your team. Click on 'Game Options' to control how many innings are in a game, how easy the game is, if errors are on or off, and other things. When you're ready, click 'Today's Game'. Now, click 'Play Ball' when you're ready, or 'Team Dugout' to go back to the screen you were just at. To bat, just choose one of your batting techniques (Power, Line Drive, Grounder, or Bunt) and then make sure you can see the bat icon. When you see it, and the ball comes over the plate, click to swing. You can also control where people run when they go off to bat. I'm pretty sure you HAVE to control it if you're not on Easy mode. If you get the ball over the fence, you get a Home Run, and a blimp will pass over the field that says 'Home Run'. Then everyone on a base will run to home plate. When pitching, choose a pitch (Heat, Slow Ball, Left Hook, Right Hook, and Intentional Walk (which should never be used) ). Then click where you want to pitch it (within the batter's box is a good idea) and then if they hit it, you go into fielding. You control players and make sure they get the ball and then throw it towards the players who are near the bases by clicking on the player you want to throw it to. This will all automatically happen when on Easy mode. Sometimes, you will get a special hit (not sure how this happens). And also, if you strike someone out, you will get a special pitch. These are very useful at times. That's about everything to go over in this mode. |XX-04. PICK-UP WINDOW-XX| When going here from the main menu, you will see a binocular-shaped thing with arrows on its left and right side and a name underneath it. This allows you to pick a stadium. The stadiums are: Eckman Acres, Playground Commons, Sandy Flats, Steele Stadium, Tin Can Alley, Cement Gardens, and Dirt Yards. Clicking game options allows you to choose if you are going to play an Exhibition game, do Batting Practice, or watch a game that you don't participate in. If choosing Pick-Up Game, press the hat to create a team (or just press Play Ball to play with a pre-made team). The game will now play nearly exactly like a League Play Mode game. When choosing Batting Practice, click on the button that says Practice. You will be able to choose a character to practice with, and then you can go on from there. You can now choose what types of pitches Mr. Clanky will throw, and what style of batting you will use. Clicking the large arrow switches between the field and the batting cage. Clicking Home brings you back to the main screen. In Spectator Mode, all you do is watch a game. You do not choose team names, players, or anything at all. However, you can still switch around the team's strategy. Now, this is basically the same a Pick-Up Game, except you do not control anything. |XX-05.
