INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Egypt 1156 B.C.: Tomb of the Pharaoh' for the PlayStation and the PC, released by Cryo Interactive in 2000. Only published in Europe for both the Playstation and PC, this one is a more rare game in the former's catalogue of games. It is most likely only available to find in France (where it originates from) and Germany (where adventure games are more popular). However, the game boasts a fully English translation, and the PC edition is most likely nearly identical. I have yet to find this for my collection of adventure "classics", although as I already own in for the PS I am in no rush to grab this for anything but a bargain. If you read some reviews for this game, you will understand why this has almost zero priority to be acquired. This adventure game is unlike LucasArts where you cannot die. In fact, dying is possible at nearly every corner of the game, thus be very careful not to do anything foolish. I personally dislike this type of adventure as it discourages exploring, yet one will have to deal with it for Cyro adventures. 'Fun' things to do for a quick demise: use the knife on people, walk into pits or dangerous people, play with wild animals, ignore warning arrows fired at you, screw up puzzles. Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy! =============================================================================== 02.) BASICS G0200 =============================================================================== This game is rather self-explanatory in what your aim is - walk around and interact with the environment to advance the story. Talking to people is generally a good idea for receiving hints. I will try not to spoil any story in the walkthrough section. If you want to read more about Egyptian history, as well as receive some hints about anything related to your quest, check the Documentary section in the menu. It is rather long and extensive but nevertheless an interesting read even if you are not looking for any particular help with the game. Controls: ````````` L/R buttons........Rotate view D-Pad..............Move Cursor, Look Around L. Analog Stick....Move Cursor, Look Around [].................Inventory, Skip Conversations/Movies X..................Action START..............Menu (Password, Options, etc.) PC vs PS: ````````` As mentioned earlier, the games are almost identical in story and gameplay, although the obvious control and graphic differences are there. However, some puzzles appear to be slightly altered. I have also had difficulty identifying objects from look alone, as the graphics are not too great. This is the main reason why some of the objects in the walkthrough have strange names which may even be wrong. =============================================================================== 03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300 =============================================================================== Tomb of Sethi: `````````````` Find a small encampment you can walk to, it is hard to spot in this dark area. Talk to the guard. Whatever you choose, he will give you a torch. Enter the tomb on the left. Walk down the stairs, turn 90 degrees and grab the plank leaning against the wall niche. Turn back and walk forward multiple times until you are taking some more steps down. One more screen ahead and there is a huge chasm which will mean the end of you if you continue forward. Open your inventory and click on the plank you had just picked up earlier. Place it across the large gaping hole and then continue over to the other side. Going right in-between both of the pillars, continue dead ahead, entering another room and eventually hitting a wall. Take one step right and turn around to find a rod. Grab it. Return to the beginning of the room with the pillars, facing them as you entered from the chasm, take one step left and face the pillar. You can investigate this pillar, and it will give you a more focused view. Pull out the scroll you have in your inventory from the start, and use it on Ptah on the right side. If done correctly, it will add Ptah on your scroll. To exit this screen, click the little star icon on the right side of the inventory. Walk left past the pillar and down the stairs. Continue until you find yet another room with red-painted pillars. Turn right immediately, and enter the small gap on the right side. Inside you will find a serpent on the floor. Use the rod to kill it, then pick up the amulet. Back in the large room with pillars, walk down the middle (you cannot proceed on the side) and you will soon stop to listen in on the conversation between the two men. First descend the few steps to some stones. Take a close look and remove some of them until you can pick up a limestone. You can talk to both men for information, and then show the limestone and amulet to both to see what they have to say about it. Imennakth will give you a ring to access the village. Exit the tomb, it should not be too hard to find your way. Outside, the guardian will take you to the village. In fact, you will see a scene and get a stone, then you have to walk to the village yourself. It is near the white mountains in the far back. Village of Deir El Medineh: ``````````````````````````` Note: There is a running clock as you proceed through this part of the game, and you will notice that it is getting darker as you play for longer. It is necessary to advance the time to evening to complete this section, but you will only be required to do later on. Show Imennakth's ring to the villager blocking your way. Walk along for a few screens, keeping count on the left doors you pass. The first guy threatens you if you even come close, the second door has no handle, the third houses a worker without anything useful to say but the fourth one is open. Inside, go towards the back (right) and pick up the tow(?). In the other corner of the house is a small prayer corner. Investigate the small kneeler and use the scroll with it to add a bow into the picture. Leave the house. A couple of screens along the way is a branch to the left leading nowhere. However, there is a ladder stashed around the corner which you should make yours, temporarily of course. Back in the main alley, continue left as you were going and then turn right at the end of it. You can talk to the woman here, but it is not necessary. Place the ladder against the wall on the left of the door to the left of the woman, and then attempt to climb it. The woman will cry out for help, thus quickly give her the ring from your inventory to shut her up and leave you alone. Climb up the ladder into the house. Inside the house, go through the doorway straight ahead and into the next room with the mess all over. Open the wicker basket and place the amulet inside with the other one. Go forward into the mess and look left for a slightly hidden part of the room. Remove the statuette and grab the element. Turn towards he mattress and remove the heavy board blocking it, then move into the cellar by interacting with the mattress. Interact with the corpse to receive a small piece of paper. Exit the house. Turn right and go past the ladder for two screens. Turn left and find a wooden peg above the door. Use it on the door lock for a small puzzle. -First use the peg with the end of the yellow string. -Pull the thick part of the string -Pull the yellow string -Pull the beige string -Finally, pull the yellow string again Inside the house, grab the lamp in front of you, then make your way around the pillar to a very dark room. Combine the tow with the lamp to have some light shine on things. Click on the casket in the corner and take it with you. Backtrack through the alley to near the first corner. Going towards the entrance for two a couple of steps, there is an alley on the left. If it is still afternoon you can chat with a man here, who wants to see the paper. He will say you need proof. There is not much you can do right now but to wait until it is evening. At that point you can enter the door on the left. I have achieved this buy running through the village, re-entering buildings until it got dark. I am unsure if simply waiting around will change the time. Once you are in the room, a conversation will take place. Afterwards, talk to the other guy, who says you need proof to suspect Tchai. Give him the casket. In return the two men will tell you what to do next, but first have a rest. Sleep on the mattress. Embalmer's Workshop: ```````````````````` The workshop is the little area just in front of the village. It should be easy to find now that you know where the village is. Walk around the corner of the courtyard and knock on the double doors. Hand over the casket when the guy asks for it, then enter the workshop instead of waiting around. Go through the first room to the one with the corpses under sheets. Go to the second on the left and lift up the sheet. This corpse has a necklace. Use the paper you have on the necklace, then zoom out. When you turn around, the embalmer will stand there. Talk to him and he will tell you about his superior wanting to have a chat with you. Enter the room behind him and turn left, then walk up to the embalmer for a puzzle. Pick up four items: The Isis Knot (red ankh-style symbol), Djet Pillar (blue pillar with wide top), the pestle and the blue helmet. Place the items in the following way: ________________________ | | | | Helmet | Isis Knot | | | | |------------+-----------| | | | | Pestle | Helmet | |____________|___________| Once you pass the test, you are free to roam this place. There is nothing to do in this room, but the the adjecent one is a storeroom of sorts. Look at the very large green sarcophagus. You can zoom in at the top portion. Whip out your scroll and use it on the symbols to add a clue to it. You can leave the embalmber's shop via this door instead of going all the way around, and a video sequence will take over as you leave. Tomb of the Nobleman: ````````````````````` Turn around and use the tow on the lamp in front of you. If you use it on one of the chests by mistake, it will result in a quick death. Fun to check out once though. From the lamp, turn left and grab the items off the chair (boomerang and knife), then use said knife on the wall behind you (near a large collection of clay vases). Go through the passage. You may talk to the man here but he does not have much useful to say. Instead, leave this place by following the light, or just one screen forward and one step right. Outside, turn right and talk to the woman. She will show you some symbols. Use the scroll on the eighth symbol in the top row. Any other guess will be noted by her, the correct one adds the fourth and final clue to the scroll. Show the completed scroll to the woman and she will lead you out of here. House of Panehesy: `````````````````` Face the large town at the river and find this house near the right side. Give the porter the 2 deben. Walk towards the house once, turn right and walk towards the alley (which is locked), then turn right and walk towards the house Soon after you arrive, an archer will fire at you. Of course he will miss at first, but you can already be ready with the boomering once this occurs. There are several locations he can be at, thus move the cursor around between the trees on the right side of the pool and fire around until the video shows you were successful. Missing means you will not see the assailant getting knocked out, and you still have the boomering. When it is all clear to proceed, walk along the pool once and turn towards the door, which is your as well as the cat's entrance to the house. Navigating the house takes some getting used to. Here is a map to make things easier: _______________________________________________ | | | | | | | | Tunic |Make-up | | | |____ ____|____ ___|___ ___| | | | | | Wig| | | | Necklace| |_______|____ ____|________ ________|_________| | | | | |<<<<<<< | |\/ | |_________| |\/ ____| | | |\/|Bowl| | |__|________________ _______________|_________| | | | | | | <-Pool Entrance | Cat |---------| | | | |_______|_____________________________|_________| As you see, you start in the bottom right corner. Walk forward and turn right into the main hallway. Immediately turn left, ignoring the housekeeper for now, and enter the room. At your feet is a bowl of milk which you want to get. Leave the room and return to the first smaller hallway, and then enter the room at the opposite end you started out. Face the chair and place the bowl of milk in front of it. The icon will turn white if you have the correct place. When the cat comes in, take a closer look and grab its earring. Using this earring on a hard-to-see area of the wall above the chair will result in a safe opening. Take the letter and the piece of ivory and return to the larger hallway. Enter the private quarters to find the wig and necklace in the bedroom, a tunic in a sort of dressing room (you will automatically wear it), and make-up in the bathroom. Do the bathroom last as you will be using the mirror on the table to admire yourself, and of course apply the make-up and wear the wig while doing so. Now approach the housekeeper and show her the necklace. Afterwards, go up the stairs all the way, enter the party area and listen to the conversations as you make your way out to the balcony. Turn left and investigate the game on the table. Place the piece of ivory into the empty slot and press the buttons in the following sequence: Heri, Pedjet, Ptah, Nefer. A secret compartment will open which contains a message, take this and a move will play. You are automatically thrown into a game of Senet, which is explained in detail in the manual thus I will not get into the game's rules. Some basic tips for Senet: *If you have two pieces next to each other, the opponent cannot pass. If you have pieces lined up like this which blocks a lot of the opponents', leave them be and get the ones in front home first. *Practice makes perfect, it is easy to play but with bad luck you may be on the losing end without it being any of your fault. *Get your guys home first rather than keep them coming in masses, unless the first tip applies. Once you win this board game, click on the edge of the balcony to exit. Karnak: ``````` Karnak is on the left side of the river, you cannot miss it. It is the biggest place all around. Turn around and talk to Aamerout. Afterwards, walk to the left of her to enter the temple. Do a 90 degree turn and walk forward until you hit a priest blocking the way. Turn left and walk straight to find an extremely narrow staircase going up to the roof. Talk to the priest. You will automatically receive an instrument for sighting. Use it on the assistant sitting on the ground and then point it at the yellow star just above him. Return to the narrow staircase and walk down twice until the corner. Turn left into the small room to talk to the priest, and tell him you have discovered the yellow star above the assistance. Talk to him again about the water level, then he will disappear. Turn slightly right and pick up the brown dish, then look at the water basin. Scoop out two levels of water with the brown dish and then cut out the side knobs with the knife. You will receive the two treasure items automatically (they show up as one in the inventory). Descend the rest of the stairs and take one step right past the first pillar. Step forward once more and you will be next to the priest blocking the way (he is now on your right). Ignore him and continue straight on until you hit the wall. Turn right and walk forward once more and then take a look at the pillar on the right which has a cracked base. Interact with it, take a closer look at what you have uncovered and then take the plate. To make things easier, turn around and walk back one scree, then left twice to find the priest. Face the opposite way and proceed until you run into Aamerout and show her the two proofs: the plate and the treasure items from the water basin. After being cast out, a ceremony takes place and you will end up talking to To. After the conversation, interact with the tunic of the man in the middle. Once this is accomplished, a big golden necklace on his chest is revealed. Place the treasure item on his necklace as well as the plate. If done correctly, To will do whatever it takes for a fair ending. =============================================================================== YY.)
