This document is meant to be a quick reference, mainly, to this fan-made PC fighting game, and is not a comprehensive document on this fighting game... Demo, it seems to be turning out that way, isn't it! There will be no combo lists, although there will be a quick discussion of comboing, nor character non-game information in this release. Disclaimer The game Queen of Heart '99 - Dream Match Never Ends is copyright the group of fans who created it (in turn the characters are also copyrighted). The information in this FAQ, from format to content, is copyright Kevin Eav and Ethan Tsai and may not be used without their explicit permission given, for commercial or non-private uses. Few (if any) of the move-names are anything approaching official; they are my names for them. I also *cannot* tell you where and how to get the game, I'm afraid; I *cannot* give out copies and I do not know where to get it, I'm sorry. Your best bet is to find a Japanese-reading/speaking friend and scouring the 'net. Version History v.3.3 - Discovery of a new EX move for Corin, a super-launcher (like she NEEDS it.) v.3.2 - Even more work. Got the Corin update working! So, her character is now included. v.3.0 - More work. Forgot about the 'hidden' character Yakuza Hatsune; she's been added to the list, as well as how to select Tiria and Sakashita. v.2.9 - (My, this -is- getting long, isn't it?) I've finally received the SE update for QoH'99, thus enabling changed character profile graphics and the addition of Rapid Ayaka, Sakashita Yoshie and Tiria. Preliminary work to lay down their movelists. v.2.6 - Minor correction to one of Ayaka's moves. v.2.5 - More corrections, additions, and similar. Thanks to Steve Shin (lovely_kitsune@hotmail.com). Slow, slow process of obtaining 'real' move names. v.2.0 - Additions: Some specific EX-cancels, last names (according to Mr. Mascolo, edited by myself; thanks!) v.1.4 - Corrections to the FAQ, thanks to Davide Mascolo (mana_kirishima@hotmail.com), mainly in names and some left-out/mis- commanded moves. v.1.3 - Addition of Shin-Shoryuken for normal Shiho. Still trying to figure out how she does the Hadoken in normal mode. v.1.2 - Addition of Stun Palm of Doom for Aoi. v.1.1 - Addition of Power-Up Charge for Rio. Will test to see if any other characters get this. v.1.0 - First Public release, 11/16/00, on www.gamefaqs.com v.0.2 - Beginnings of the character movelists; starts with Saori. Completed 3/3/00. v.0.1 - Preliminary version, includes basic layout and non-character-specific materiels. About the Game Queen of Heart '99 - Dream Match Never Ends is the sequel game to Queen of Heart '98. Both games are fighting games, based on the Asuka 120% game engine, that use the characters from "To Heart" and other Leaf properties. Legend ub u uf ub - up/back u - up uf - up/forward b n f b - back n - neutral f - forward db d df db - down/back d - down df - down/forward W - weak attack M - medium attack S - strong attack ST - stand (special) A - any attack Note: The above generally corresponds to buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4 (in order from Weak to Stand) on a standard six-button control pad. I don't know if there's any way to configure this, as I can't read all the kanji in the menus. :) qcf - quarter-circle forward (d to f) qcb - quarter-circle back (d to b) hcf - half-circle forward (b to f) hcb - half-circle back (f to b) dp - dragon punch (f, d, df) rdp - reverse dragon punch (b, d, db) (a) - can be performed in air (A) - must be performed in air Note: When you have one or more levels of power, performing a special move with the strong attack button results in an EX move. Otherwise, it performs the medium attack version of the technique. EX moves require one level of power gauge; super combos require three, unless otherwise stated. Miscellaneous Hit F1 to switch between windowed and fullscreen. Hit F4 toggle infinite life/meter or normal mode. Hit F12 for the options menu. Characters have four colors: P1-P4. P4 generally seems to be a black- white-grey kind of motif. Hitting up or down at the color select will give you guard options (auto or manual) and 'resistance' (i.e. handicap), but resistance is only available in VS. mode. (Thanks to Davide Mascolo.) Other options are there, but since I don't know what they do, I'll leave them alone. Unlike most games, command attacks do block damage, but I'm still classifying them as command attacks because of their method of use. All characters can double jump. Throwing is performed by getting close, hitting back and the S attack at the same time. Parries/Active Blocking Saori, Azusa, Aoi (and LF '97 Aoi), and Ayaka can parry--hit forward as you're meeting an attack and you will block it, and then recover so that you can counterattack. But be careful, parrying does not freeze the other player (unlike SF3 series). Push Blocking Mizuho, Ruriko, Kaede, Tomoko, and both Kotones can push-block, like in the vs. series of games. All characters can tech throws (the usual manner--throw as you're being thrown), do fall recovery (u, u as you hit the ground), mid-air recovery (d, d as you're in air). Comboing Comboing in Queen of Heart '99 is fairly simple; it has elements of the versus series in it. Two-in-ones and some cancels are possible; I have not fully explored these yet. When chain-comboing, it seems moving from any move to any move is possible, even back and forth from weak to strong and back, but some attacks are too slow to allow comboing after. Double-jumping can increase the length of a combo by allowing more hits, but there are points you must switch from attack or end the combo (i.e. you can't combo with infinite jumps into repeated weak attacks). It's very freeform, so just experiment! And watch the computer at work. Characters Shincho Saori - the Fiery Volleyballer Command Attacks Overhead Smash - f, f + W Sliding Uppercut - f, f + M Diving Slide - f, f + S Special Attacks Super Spike - d, d + A Hyper Drive - d, db, b + A Fiery Smasher - f, f + S (A) Super Attack Hyper Tackle - hcf + S Aihara Mizuho - Zombie Commander * Mizuho can use the stand button (the fourth one) to activate her 'Stand', in this case, the dead guy. When active, he moves and she doesn't. Both can take damage; when knocked down the stand returns to idle stance. When idle, its moves will move it from where it is laying; if it can't reach the opponent, it will move a distance then fall over. The stand cannot dash; it falls over. If the stand is hit then both will react--the same if Mizuho is hit, unless the stand is on the ground. Command Attacks (Mizuho) Teleport Dash - f, f + W Launch Kick - f, f + M Overhead Bag Smash - f, f + S Command Attacks (Stand) Poleaxer - f, f + W Sliding Upper - f, f + M Front Stab Kick - f, f + S Special Attacks Grab and Bite - d, df, f + A Extinguisher - d, db, b + A Super Attacks Stand Combo Attack - hcb + ST (uses one level) Censored - hcf + S (in Stand Mode) During the startup of the Stand Combo Attack, inputting a series of button presses will cause the stand to do that sequence of attacks after it rushes the opponent. Tsukishima Ruriko - The Body Electric * Ruriko's dash is a teleport. She can air-teleport (hit f, f or b, b in the air). Command Attacks Forward Flip - f, f + W (not an attack) Electric Knuckle - f, f + M Electro-Slash - f, f + S Special Attacks Electro-Grab - d, df, f + A Electric Orb - d, db, b + A Super Attacks Oniichan, Kaeru - hcf + S Kashiwagi Hatsune - Super-Cook Command Attacks Overhead Teapot Smash - f + S Sliding Spin Kick - f, f + W Body-Ball Attack - f, f + M Cutting Board Crasher - f, f + S Special Attacks Electric Ladle Throw - d, df, f + A Teapot Tosser - d, db, b + A Spatula Smasher - d, d + A (A) Super Attack Ray of Destruction - hcf + S Kashiwagi Kaede - Psychiker no Onna *Kaede has a psychic stand. Kashiwagi Azusa - Street Fighting Chick Command Attacks Dashing Elbow - f, f + W Punch Combo - f, f + M Overhand Smash - f, f + S Special Attacks Sliding Punches - d, df, f + A Body Slammer - d, db, b + A * Leaping Uppercut - f, d, df + A ** Super Attacks Hyper Bomb - hcf + S * - The Body Slammer has super armor, from the time she reaches back to when her arm reaches out. It can be blocked, but while any hits during the aforementioned time will do full damage, they will not stop her from performing this move. ** - The EX Leaping Uppercut can be followed by another EX attack by hitting f, b, or d + S during the last hit. This will follow up with a straight punch (f/b) or a hammer fist (d). Doing any direction+S after the first hit of the EX Uppercut will cancel into the Sliding Punches--but they'll miss totally. Kashiwagi Chizuru - Wind Goddess Command Attacks Lunging Slash - f, f + W Leaping Claw - f, f + M Teleport Slash - f, f + S Special Attacks Power Kick - f, f + S (A) Leaping Grab - d, df, f + A Grab and Slash - f, d, df + A Kamaitachi - d, db, b + A (cannot be EXed) Super Attacks God Smasher - hcf + S Takase Mizuki - Tennis Superstar Command Attacks Racket Rusher - f, f + W Racket Upper - f, f + M Slashing Slide - f, f + S Special Attacks Power Serve - d, df, f + A V-Slasher - d, db, b + A Racket Smash - d, d + A Super Attacks Super Whirlwind - hcf + A * * When Mizuki uses her Super Whirlwind, she transforms into Card Captor Sakura, complete with wand and card! Command Attacks Side Kick - f + M Fan Upper 1 - f + S Fan Smash - f, f + W Slide Kick - f, f + M Fan Upper 2 - f, f + S Special Attacks Fire Fan Combo - d, df, f + A Lunging Fan Spin - d, db, b + A Vertical Fan Spin - f, d, df + A Dive Kick - d, d + A (A) Super Attacks Super Fan Flurry - hcf + S Nagaoka Shiho Command Attacks Air Uppercut - f + W (A) Lunging Kick - f + S Dive Kick - d + S (A) (can be linked after S Lunging Uppercut) Special Attacks Lunging Uppercut - f, f + A Frankensteiner - f, d, df + A Hurricane Kick - d, db, b + A Super Attacks Jumpkick to Hadoken - hcf + S Shin-Shoryuken - qcf, qcf + S Note: CPU Aoi has thrown fireballs at me without using the super. Does anyone know the motion for this? Matsubara Aoi - Karate Girl Command Attacks Dash Punch Rush - f, f + W Lunging Punch - f, f + M Tumble Smash - f, f + S Special Attacks Double Kick Upper - d, df, f + A (a) Wild Bite Combo - d, db, b + A Super Attacks Ultra Rush Combo - hcf + S Stun Palm of Doom - dp + S (uses one level of super) * * The Stun Palm works thusly--dp+S will make Aoi do a palm strike (animation from her EX Wild Bite Combo). After the short pause, another dp+S will cause her to slide to her opponent's back and hit them again-- after that hit, a final dp+S will knock the opponent down with a twin palm strike. All dp motions must be done from the original facing--i.e. from the right, it'd be right, down, down-right + S, three times in a row. At any point in the SPoD Aoi can cancel to one of her other EX moves or to her super, but the super won't connect. Morikawa Yuki - Sweet Idol Singer Command Attacks Slide Upper - f + M Side Kick - f + S (a) Special Attacks Overhead Tumble Kick - f, f + A CD Shuriken Throw - d, df, f + A Air CD Shuriken Throw - d, db, b + A (a) Flash Kick - f, d, df + A (a) Super Attacks The Argument - hcf + S The Argument has different animation and effect against Rina--and is much stronger. If you're lucky, you can even get this to happen while the startup of the round is going and get some free damage. Command Attacks Hair Slash - f, f + W Leaping Pierce - f, f + M Sacrifice Tackle - f, f + S Diving Kick - d + S (A) Special Attacks Hair Whip - d, df, f + A Stabbing Rush - A repeatedly Power-Up Charge - W+M Super Attacks Old Man Summoning - hcf + S Kurusugawa Ayaka Command Attacks Palm Smash - f + S Flip Heel Kick - d + S (A) Special Attacks Zaneiken - f, f + A Wheel Kick - d, df, f + A Flip Kick - f, d, df + A Dodge - d, db, b + W Dodge to Backhand - d, db, b + M Dodge to Sweep - d, db, b + S Super Attacks Afterimage Zaneiken - hcf + S Ogata Rina Command Attacks Forward Flip - f, f + W Jumping Axe Kick - f, f + M Power Punch - f, f + S Mic Stand Kick - f + S Special Attacks CD Shuriken - d, df, f + A Shuriken Flurry - d, db, b + A Handstand Flip Kick - f, d, df + A Mid-air Axe Kick - d, db, b + A (A) Super Attacks Shadow Rush Barrage - hcf + S Hidden Characters To pick the hidden characters/second outfits, go to the listed character, hold the stand button (button 4) and choose your character. Exception: Sakashita Yoshie and Tiria are off-screen characters; go up to either of the four corners and tap left/right (towards the edge of the screen), then up or down to select them. Ooda Kanako Using Kanako is like being put permanently into Mizuho's Stand Mode; you will control the Stand, with all its powers and limitations. Oni Chizuru Oni Chizuru is nearly identical in play to Chizuru, save for a new entrance pose, new eye color and idle pose, red colored chi, a ground-shaking landing from jumps, and a new super, which acts for all intensive purposes like her old one, for comboability/range. Young Akari Young Akari's pot-bombs are not doable in air, and they have severely reduced ground range. Too, she does not have Akari's air combo finisher kick. Her Super Attack is now a very short-ranged rush-combo similar to the Ryuko Ranbu used by Ryo Sakazaki (AoF, KoF). Komodo Serika (Comic Mode Serika) Alternate Serika seems to be a much more advanced magician and sorceror, with entirely new animations and attacks. What a treat! Command Attacks Staff-end Jab - f, f + W Leaping Slice - f, f + M Lunging Slice - f, f + S Special Attacks Pentacle Blast - d, df, f + A Scythe Diver - f, d, df + A Scythe Spinner - d, db, b + A (A) Super Attacks Demon Hellbreath - hcf + S Satsui no Hado Shiho (Wave of Murderous Intent Shiho) Satsui no Hado Shiho is the game's only true Ryuken clone! But cute. Command Attacks Lunge Kick - f + S Dive Kick - d + S (A) Special Attacks Hadoken - d, df, f + A Shoryuken - f, d, df + A Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku - d, db, b + A (a) Super Attacks Shin Shoryuken - qcf, qcf + S LF '97 Aoi LF '97 Aoi gets a summer-vacation outfit, and the some of her animations have been changed, notably for her qcb + A punch rush--it now looks like Kyo's hcb+P from KoF '99-Evo/2000, but otherwise she remains the same. Oh--and Aoi can also supercancel her EX moves into other EX moves or her super. HM-12 Multi, like Aoi, gets an alternate outfit, but other than that, nothing changes. She is listed as 'HM-12'. Like Alternate Aoi, she can cancel her EX moves and her supers. Yakuza Hatsune This version of Hatsune has the Yakuza half-moon eyes and stands around with her hands in her 'pockets', like a gangster. The only new thing it seems she has is a f+S 'gang kick'--I'll experiment more. Alternate Kotone (True Heroine Kotone) On the character select screen, this Kotone will be outlined in a faint blue color. She seems slightly faster (this may be my mind playing tricks on me), but she gains nothing else. Her Shungokusatsu moves a lot faster than before, giving it even more comboability. Rapid Ayaka Rapid Ayaka is HELLACIOUSLY fast running forward on the ground, and can airdash. She is also quite strong, it appears. Command Attacks None. Special Attacks Zaneiken - f, f + A Arm Blast - d, db, b + A * Wheel Kick Upper - f, d, df + A Diving Horse Kick - d, df, f + A (A) Super Attacks Renbu Rush - hcf + S Sakashita Yoshie Sakashita is the girl you see in the background of Aoi's stage. Command Attacks Knee to Front Kick - f, f + W Overhead Elbow - f, f + M Upper-Jab Combo - f, f + S Overhead Axe Kick - f + S Midair Thrust Kick - f + S (A) Special Attacks Koohken - d, df, f + A Twin Pistons - d, d + A Knee Kick Flip Combo - d, db, b + A (a) Dive Kick - d, d + A (A) Super Attacks Lightning Blast - hcf + S Tiria Command Attacks Rolling Sobat - f, f + W Sword Post - f, f + M Knockdown Slash - f, f + S Air Rolling Sobat - f + S (A) Special Attacks Chi Arrow - d, df, f + A Overhead Slash - d, db, b + A Sword Upper - f, d, df + A Super Attacks Lightning Storm - hcf + S Corin Corin is amazing. Super-strong moves, easily comboable into and out of, and she can airdash. Plus she has the biggest super. Command Attacks Slide Kick - f, f + W Lunge-Upper Combo - f, f + M Hop Kick - f, f + S Special Attacks Raygun - d, df, f + A (a) Rising Spin - f, d, df + A Elbow Rush - d, db, b + A Super Attacks Force Strike - from crouch, d, d + C (level 1) Angel Rush - hcf + S (level 3) Angel Rise - hcf + S (during Angel Rush, 1 level of super) Angel Gun - hcb + S (during Angel Rise, 1 level of super) Corin can cancel her EXes into and out of each other. --- Ending Credits Me, Kevin Eav, for writing this thing. Ethan Tsai for providing me with the game and the names. Davide Mascolo for providing corrections. Steve Shin for providing more corrections. You, for reading it.
