I've been an average FAQ writer(I think) and am actually be writing one for a long time already so it won't be a matter if you're hoping to find the guide as useful as it would be. I've been trying to bring out the best in every guide I create and I'm hoping that you not only find the guide comprehensive but at the same time entertaining. Entertaining to a point that you won't feel tired of reading them and just keep reading at the same time. The guide is created for you to freely move around yourself. I won't be ordering you to do this or do that but merely suggestions as to at least beat a level/boss/stage/something. BTW, if you've seen my other guides this one would be fairly different as I'll be using a new way like adding quotes appropriate to the theme of the part you're reading. I must warn you before playing, Ragnarok Online is a very addiciting game though at first you might notice that it's a sensless-hack-and-slash type of game with no real story line or quests to be taken to be as its backbone. I must also warn you that if you're not that good with scheduling or managing your time then you should leave as the game will suck a portion of your social life if you let it consume you. The game is fairly fun perhaps the interaction with other people is its charm. Anyway, this guide is designed not to tackle the whole game itself but would basically be dealing with the SpearKnights/Lancer builds. Why you ask? Basically, I find people more fond of the 2 handed Knight Build/Agi Build and they think of Vit type swordies which are easily inclined to using spears are a bunch of weaklings. What I'm trying to do here is to create a guide that'll give players an idea to how they should be raising their Swordies to be the toughest knight(Spear Knight to be exact) there is. Anyway, this stuff should be on another topic... Let's roll... *-*-*-*-*-*-* * Revisions * *-*-*-*-*-*-* September 29, 2003 (09.29.03) Version 1 --------------------------------------- - It's basically what the FAQs is composed of. September 30, 2003 (09.30.03) Version: 2 ---------------------------------------- A lot of updated here. Those that has a COMING SOON!! note is almost filled now so you'll be getting a lot of informations from this guide right now. Other than that there are no new sections or subsections just updates. BTW, I've missed changing the comments on the Skill List I copied from Weggy's guide. I've done that as well. Also, check out the skill builds as it is now revised into a much detailed category. October 1, 2003 (10.01.03) Version: 2.3 --------------------------------------- Now, I really blew it! I've missed changing some Battle Acolyte labeled stuffs here but as promised to some mailers I've changed them A.S.A.P. Also, thanks to Cuirassier for pointing out that skills only reach 49 points in total. I probably missed that due to trying to exert to much to post this guide. I've continued on my quest to fill every unfilled sections here. I'll raise the guide's bytes like crazy! October 2, 2003 (10.01.03) Version: 2.6 --------------------------------------- A very nice update with the Ways of a Lancer section. Check it out. Also, I really need you guys to help out ^_^. You can submit them to me anytime just check my guide and look for those what you feel needed an additional information or a taste of your own way ^_^. Thanks in Advance! I'll get back to work again! *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- * E-Mail/Contacts Policy - *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Why'd I suddenly summon a E-Mail/Contacts Policy section? Simply to categorize every mail that I've been recieving from those that are possibly either a Virus or something bad. I would suggest you follow the following things below so as to quickly get a reply off the day or two after you mailed me. Yes! I'm that quick on replying mails as I don't want my Inbox to be so filled and to make my browser go faster when checking things out. Anyway here are the list of Do's and Don'ts doing something that is on either the Do's/Don'ts list will seriously affect the odds of you getting a reply so I suggest you follow them as simple rules are applied. *- E-Mails -* Do’s and Dont's --------------- 1. Only send me questions that can't be found on my guide. I will be more happy to help you in this case. 2. Try to be specific in defining something or when stating what had happened. So I won't be e-mailing you back for some questions that'll simply consume our precious time. 3. I won't be accepting or be opening any mails that has attachments. 4. Check the latest version of the guide before sending in any questions, chances are that your question might be answered in the newest version of the guide. 5. If I happen to not reply after three or so days than e-mail me again nicely and I'll reply ASAP. 6. You must label your mail with the game title whether a submission or a question (E.I. FFX-2 or just FFX-2 for questions or inquiries). 7. Don't be persistent, don't e-mail me the very same question that I've already answered. 8. Don't send me nonsense e-mails like "How much is..." "Can you buy me this?" 9. Be nice! Don't use bad words in your mail. 10. No Chain Mails! Doing anything that isn't allowed will automatically make your address be blocked from any future mail you might possibly send. *- MSN CONTACT -* Do’s and Dont's --------------- 1. You're freely able to add me into your contact list. 2. You should take the initiative to introduce yourself if you've managed to catch me online. This is done by simply stating which game guide you've got my contact (e.i. FFX-2, Harvest Moon Advance 2 etc...) 3. Ask questions ASAP! 4. No Spamming! 5. Please don't use bad words! 6. Don't send me any files over MSN. MSN contacts that are inactive after 2 weeks will be removed from my list. You can just add me again or e-mail me if you've got any other inquiries. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-* * Game Basics * *-*-*-*-*-*-*-* "If the student does not wish to gain strength, he cannot become truly strong." -- Hiko Seijuro, Rurouni Kenshin *- -* *- Introduction to Lancers -* *- -* Lancer/SpearKnight - A term most commonly used to people who wished to be different to other knights and took up their spears and wield it better then swords. They are either on-foot or aboard a PecoPeco. A Lancer/SK is commonly placed in the frontline and is mostly used to utilize their overpowered offensive attacks. Some would wish to be as fast as thieves but most of the time those that followed the way of a real Lancer are tough and can withstand any kinds of beating. Though they're not that famous compared to Agility Knights most underestimate their power and would simply look down before them but the truth is that only those who persevere would only see the true light and power of a real Lancer. Equipped with their powerful spear they can wield it and dish off damage better than any knights who might come up in their way and at the same time with their keen sight most of them rarely miss their target. Swordsman are still as famous as ever and with the anticipation of the Crusader class many might still change their mind and perhaps turn sides and be one of us SpearKnights. Lancers are basically designed to take minimum hits and dish back twice as much damage. They could easily bash their way through mobs and even perform better against bigger enemies. With the HP recovery skill they won't have to worry about healing and with the High Vitality they have they're designed to be earning as much HP recovery every turn. Lancers are fun and a very effective way of being a knight since it complements the use of PecoPeco. *- -* *- Lancer Basics -* *- -* Lancers, Midgard's Pillar. Lancers are one of the most underrated job in RO. As most of the time you'll see a swordsman/knight there are only a little as 20% chance of them being a SpearKnight/Lancer. They are very tough fighters that has an amazing healing recovery rate and has a fearsome way of dishing damage. With my experience using them I can safely say that they are in fact one of the most amazing jobs in terms of mob-controlling(if they can handle that well then think of just one vs one battle) and in PvP. Lancer's starts very well and can early on handle monsters like rockers or thief bugs in their mid-novice career but later on look frail and shabby without the proper equipments which at most is not cheap as a few would only be seen vending one. But with the right equipments you can easily compare your level 25 aspiring Lancer to a level 30 1 handed/2 handed swordsman (I notice this since leveling on the Elder Willow map). Swordsman an option to turn into a Knight or a Crusader. Knights are simply a higher version of Swordsman as the real skills for a Lancer/SpearKnight is only available one you've turned into one. Crusaders on the other hand will be perhaps a slight variation of knights, but since I haven't been a crusader or am planning in the future I couldn't talk about them yet. Though there are 2 options after reaching job level 40. Taking one over another So you finally wanted to become an Lancer/SpearKnight? To become a Lancer you first have to be a Swordsman, to do so reach the necessary requirements and visit the Swordsmans Guild in Izlude. You simply have to walk on sa series of obstacles and easily become a swordsman. Knights only requires you to be job level 40 or higher and visit where you signed up for the Culvert Volunteer just on the top left part of the Prontera City. *- -* *- Why follow be a Lancer? -* *- -* "To be human is to know the fear of death, yet keep on fighting." -- Gau Ban, Shadow Skill. Simply to put it: "It's fun", "You'll be original", and "You'll prove people that lancers aren't just a nice title to hear". Lancers aren't boring. Unlike the most Generic/commonly used 2 handed AGI swordsman you'll simply be benefiting from your Two-Hand Quicken a lot sure, a +10 ASP but I believe using that SP cost for like a Brandish Spear would be more practical and you'll be waiting a bit more levels before you can go on tougher enemies yourself compared to that of Lancer. And the fact that there aren't much of a Spear Knight you should be unique compared to other knights you're walking along with. Seriously, being a Spear Knight or a Lancer will make you utilize a lot of your offensive power and toughness to withstand the pain as well as using the PecoPeco's additional attack bonus on spears (when you're a knight). Also, Healing yourself isn't that hard as you'll benefit a lot from your high vit. *- -* *- Basic Stats Points -* *- -* "I have found her weakness! She is still unused to the lovely eye-patch, which obstructs her view from the left!" -- Koinosuke, Jubei-chan STR - Strenght AGI - Agility VIT - Vitality DEX - Dexterity INT - Intelligence LUK - Luck STR - affects on character's physical attack strength. Also it enlarges character's weight limit so the character can carry more items. In the words of a Lancer: Strenght, yes you'll need a lot of brute force unlike those weaklings you'll be able to force yourself into anything. AGI - is deeply involved with the nibleness of character. AGI increases flee rate of character and attack speed of weapons. In the words of a Lancer: Blech! The **** with this thing, you should've been a thief instead, those sly creature. VIT - affects on the defence/health of character. VIT increases the defence of character so it enables the character to deal with less damage taken from enemies. And it increases the maximum amount of HP and the speed of HP recovery. In the words of a Lancer: Vitality! Who won't want this? We'll be tougher than rocks and some monsters would barely scratch us. DEX - affects on character's accuracy rate when attack or the use of weapon. It increases average attack strength of weapons, especially the attack strength of bows get more affected by DEX.Besides it reduces miss when attack, also does the magical skill casting time. In the words of a Lancer: I like my blows to connect and so will yours. You should want them like your strenght. INT - is deeply involved with the magical ability of character. INT increases Magical attack strength/defence and regist against magics. In the words of a Lancer: I think they should be very minimal though I would want some for a better SP regeneration rate but if you follow me I suggest you leave them. Brute Strenght is the way to go. LUK - It means the fortune of character, affects on various situations. Besides, the rate of critical attack and perfect dodge are both affected by LUK. In the words of a Lancer: Luck?! Blech! Who needs luck if you can constantly dish a certain amount of damage. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- * Stats/Skill Builds - *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- "If you want to defeat me, you must practice with your life!" -- Akira Sendo, Slam Dunk Vit Build #1 ------------ Starting stats: 9 STR, 9 AGI, 9 VIT, 1 INT, 1 DEX, 1 LUK 10 STR 20 VIT 10 DEX 30 VIT 20 DEX 20 STR 50 VIT 30 STR 30 DEX 70 VIT 40 STR 80 VIT 50 STR 90 VIT 99 STR 99 VIT Comments: A very tough build and perhaps the best way to go. Believe it or not the only reason I put this up is for coolness purposes ^_^. I've seen one Knight PvP against a group of Knights and Battle Acolytes our model dude simply wiped them out in a very cool fashion. He switched from Bowling then to Brandish. I think you won't get any cooler than this though the only downside of this oh-so-cool build is that you're forced to exert that extra mile to earn them, so surely you'll be as cool as that Knight Dude but you'll be like around 80+ by then. It doesn't actually matter if you be a 2 handed swordie or 1 handed swordie during your swordsman career as the real essence of being a Lancer/ Spearknight is when you've reached the 2nd job level so it's your call, the only essential thing here is to get at least a level 1 Endure for the Cavalry Skill. One-Handed Sword Mastery_______________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: None Active or Passive?: Passive SP Use: None Level 1 : ATK +5 Level 2 : ATK +10 Level 3 : ATK +15 Level 4 : ATK +20 Level 5 : ATK +25 Level 6 : ATK +30 Level 7 : ATK +35 Level 8 : ATK +40 Level 9 : ATK +45 Level 10: ATK +50 Comments: 1 point is needed here if you're planning on getting the Auto-Counter skill which requires 2 handed sword mastery. I suggest you be a 1 handed swordsman during your swordie career so you won't be wasting a skill point. Two-Handed Sword Mastery_______________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 1 One-Handed Sword Mastery Active or Passive?: Passive SP Use: None Level 1 : ATK +5 Level 2 : ATK +10 Level 3 : ATK +15 Level 4 : ATK +20 Level 5 : ATK +25 Level 6 : ATK +30 Level 7 : ATK +35 Level 8 : ATK +40 Level 9 : ATK +45 Level 10: ATK +50 Comments: The only reason to invest here is for you to earn the Auto-Counter skill and Two-Hand Quicken skill other than that upon reaching level 5 you should invest on something else. Fast HP Recovery_______________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: None Active or Passive?: Passive SP Use: None Level 1 : 5 + (Max HP/500) HP every 10 seconds, extra 10% from healing items Level 2 : 10 + (Max HP/450) HP every 10 seconds, extra 20% from healing items Level 3 : 15 + (Max HP/400) HP every 10 seconds, extra 30% from healing items Level 4 : 20 + (Max HP/350) HP every 10 seconds, extra 40% from healing items Level 5 : 25 + (Max HP/300) HP every 10 seconds, extra 50% from healing items Level 6 : 30 + (Max HP/250) HP every 10 seconds, extra 60% from healing items Level 7 : 35 + (Max HP/200) HP every 10 seconds, extra 70% from healing items Level 8 : 40 + (Max HP/150) HP every 10 seconds, extra 80% from healing items Level 9 : 45 + (Max HP/100) HP every 10 seconds, extra 90% from healing items Level 10: 50 + (Max HP/50) HP every 10 seconds, extra 100% from healing items Comments: Max this nuff' said. Bash___________________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: None Active or Passive?: Active SP Use: 8 SP up until level 5, 15 SP from 6 up Level 1 : 133% Damage Level 2 : 166% Damage Level 3 : 199% Damage Level 4 : 232% Damage Level 5 : 265% Damage Level 6 : 298% Damage Level 7 : 331% Damage Level 8 : 364% Damage Level 9 : 397% Damage Level 10: 430% Damage Comments: At level 5 this skill is as hot as it could get but if you're expecting to get the Bowling Bash skill which I don't actually recommend as you'll get it's Spear Counter Part Brandish Spear. But if you feel that you must get the Bowling Bash as well then Max this skill out. Though you could actually get better results 7/10 times with 2 lvl. bash than a level 10 bash with almost the same casting cost. Magnum Break___________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 5 Bash Active or Passive?: Active SP Use: 15 SP Level 1 : 20 Hp used, 115% Damage Level 2 : 20 Hp used, 130% Damage Level 3 : 19 Hp used, 145% Damage Level 4 : 19 Hp used, 160% Damage Level 5 : 18 Hp used, 175% Damage Level 6 : 18 Hp used, 190% Damage Level 7 : 17 Hp used, 205% Damage Level 8 : 17 Hp used, 220% Damage Level 9 : 16 Hp used, 235% Damage Level 10: 16 Hp used, 250% Damage Note: Thanks to JBKMDX and his Swordsman FAQ for the damage boost on Magnum Break Comments: Magnum Break has the fire attribute, so against some enemies it will hurt more, while others less. It also has the ability to push enemies back, so is handy when you are getting mobbed. Level 3 M.Break would be enough also keep in mind that as you use Magnum Break you're damaging yourself as well. This isn't as effective as you think it would be other than areas with high-spawn mobbers which will really cause havoc. Provoke________________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: None Active or Passive?: Active SP Use: 10 SP Level 1 : ATK +2%, DEF -6% Level 2 : ATK +4%, DEF -12% Level 3 : ATK +6%, DEF -18% Level 4 : ATK +8%, DEF -24% Level 5 : ATK +10%, DEF -30% Level 6 : ATK +12%, DEF -36% Level 7 : ATK +14%, DEF -42% Level 8 : ATK +16%, DEF -48% Level 9 : ATK +18%, DEF -54% Level 10: ATK +20%, DEF -60% Comments: Not very useful. Though it does reduce the defense of an enemy a good amount at higher levels, and works on percentages, it also increases attack. This SP is better used in Bash or Magnum Break. A level 5 Provoke is needed for the Endure skill which is need for our Cavalry Mastery. Get 5 here! BTW, Provoke's such an underrated PvP skill. I'll explain later ^_^. Endure_________________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 5 Provoke Active or Passive?: Active SP Use: 15 SP Level 1 : 10 Seconds Level 2 : 10 Seconds Level 3 : 15 Seconds Level 4 : 15 Seconds Level 5 : 20 Seconds Level 6 : 20 Seconds Level 7 : 25 Seconds Level 8 : 25 Seconds Level 9 : 30 Seconds Level 10: 30 Seconds Comments: A somewhat useful skill, it prevents you from flinching when hit. It can be nice for fast hitting enemies, but it's high pre-requisite and much better make it skills make it worth waiting for. Get 1 here! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Knight Skills ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spear Mastery__________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: None Active of Passive?: Passive SP Use: None Level 1 : ATK +4 (+5 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 2 : ATK +8 (+10 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 3 : ATK +12 (+15 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 4 : ATK +16 (+20 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 5 : ATK +20 (+25 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 6 : ATK +24 (+30 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 7 : ATK +28 (+35 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 8 : ATK +32 (+40 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 9 : ATK +36 (+45 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 10: ATK +40 (+50 When Riding PecoPeco) Note: Only works with Spears Comments: Get 10 here! We're Lancers so screw those sword users. Pierce_________________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 1 Spear Mastery Active of Passive?: Active SP Use: 7 Level 1 : 110% Damage Level 2 : 120% Damage Level 3 : 130% Damage Level 4 : 140% Damage Level 5 : 150% Damage Level 6 : 160% Damage Level 7 : 170% Damage Level 8 : 180% Damage Level 9 : 190% Damage Level 10: 200% Damage Note: This will hit Small monsters once, Medium twice, and Large 3 times Note 2: Only works with Spears Comments: A nice alternate for Bash though very useful against biogger monsters so stick with bash if you're facing normal monsters. Spear Stab_____________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 5 Pierce Active of Passive?: Active SP Use: 9 Level 1 : 115% Damage Level 2 : 130% Damage Level 3 : 145% Damage Level 4 : 160% Damage Level 5 : 175% Damage Level 6 : 190% Damage Level 7 : 205% Damage Level 8 : 220% Damage Level 9 : 235% Damage Level 10: 250% Damage Note: Only works with Spears Comments: Get at least 3 here for the brandish spear. Much like Magnum Break Spear Stab pushes the enemy back dealing a bash like damage. Stick with Bash though ^_^. Brandish Spear_________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 3 Spear Stab, Level 1 Riding Active of Passive?: Active SP Use: 12 Level 1 : 120% Damage, 1 Spread Range Level 2 : 140% Damage, 1 Spread Range Level 3 : 160% Damage, 1 Spread Range Level 4 : 180% Damage, 2 Spread Range Level 5 : 200% Damage, 2 Spread Range Level 6 : 220% Damage, 2 Spread Range Level 7 : 240% Damage, 3 Spread Range Level 8 : 260% Damage, 3 Spread Range Level 9 : 280% Damage, 3 Spread Range Level 10: 300% Damage, 4 Spread Range Note: Only works with Spears Comments: A very interesting skill, you swing your spear. It has a very wide arc of attack at higher levels, not to mention a decent damage boost. It might not be bad in high spawn rate aggressive areas (like Geffen 1, for example), but virtually useless on passive monsters. Get 10 you'll love this. Spear Boomerang________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 3 Pierce Active of Passive?: Active SP Use: 8 Level 1 : 150% Damage, 3 square range Level 2 : 200% Damage, 5 square range Level 3 : 250% Damage, 7 square range Level 4 : 300% Damage, 9 square range Level 5 : 350% Damage, 11 Square range Note: Only works with Spears Comments: Only having 5 levels is a big plus. This skill throws your spear straight out, damage the enemy, and then returns to you to hit the enemy again on the way back. Nifty. We're definitely gonna get this! Give it a 5! Two-Hand Quicken_______________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 1 2-handed Sword Mastery Active of Passive?: Active SP Use: 20 Level 1 : 15 Second Duration Level 2 : 20 Second Duration Level 3 : 25 Second Duration Level 4 : 30 Second Duration Level 5 : 35 Second Duration Level 6 : 40 Second Duration Level 7 : 45 Second Duration Level 8 : 50 Second Duration Level 9 : 55 Second Duration Level 10: 60 Second Duration Note: Only works with 2-handed Swords Comments: It doubles your attackspeed for a limited period of time. If you have that much point to spare get a few of this. 3-5 is enough since it'll only add 10-30 ASPD. I'm not a very big fan of this though since you'll be needing them only if you'll be getting the Bowling Bash other than that stay out of this skill. Auto-Counter___________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 5 2-handed Sword Mastery Active of Passive?: Active SP Use: 2 SP per counter Level 1 : 0.3 Second Duration Level 2 : 0.6 Second Duration Level 3 : 0.9 Second Duration Level 4 : 1.2 Second Duration Level 5 : 1.5 Second Duration Comments: Only having 5 levels is a big plus. When used, any enemy that hits you during its duration will immediatly be countered by a critical hit. With a low SP cost, this is a great skill, and should be maxed like 2-hand quicken. This skill is really, really cheap though, and a lot of people don't really like how you can MVP so easily with this. Weggy says it all! Bowling Bash___________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 5 2-handed Sword Mastery, Level 10 2-hand Quicken, Level 5 Auto-counter, Level 10 Bash, Level 3 Magnum Break Active of Passive?: Active SP Use: 15 Level 1 : 150% Damage Level 2 : 200% Damage Level 3 : 250% Damage Level 4 : 300% Damage Level 5 : 350% Damage Level 6 : 400% Damage Level 7 : 450% Damage Level 8 : 500% Damage Level 9 : 550% Damage Level 10: 600% Damage Note: Only works with 2-handed Swords Comments: Don't get this though if you took the 2-handed path during your swordie days get this though you'll be carrying two weapons each time though. Riding_________________________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 1 Endure Active of Passive?: Passive SP Use: None Level 1 : Allows you to ride a PecoPeco Comments: Having a PecoPeco is kind of nice for getting you somewhere fast, but unless you also increase Cavalier mastery it actually makes you weaker. Rent a PecoPeco from a NPC right outside of the Culvert Registration building, where you became a Knight. Note: Contrary to popular belief, this does NOT let you do 100% damage to mediums with 2 handed swords. That works ONLY for spears, yet another reason to leave the birds to the lancers. Cavalier Mastery_______________________________________________________________ Pre-requisites: Level 1 Riding Active of Passive?: Passive SP Use: None Level 1 : 60% Attack Speed Level 2 : 70% Attack Speed Level 3 : 80% Attack Speed Level 4 : 90% Attack Speed Level 5 : 100% Attack Speed Comments: Get 5! nuff' said *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* * Where to level? * *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Levels 1-Job Change: You can level on any area that has porings, fabres, lunatics, pickies, drops, or roda frogs. Just be patient, until you change job levels then you can level more seriously. Also try leveling up to 4 to 6(base) on the novice training ground. They'll give decent experience, average drops and if you're lucky enough you might find a fabre card or two. Upon reaching like around 8 or so you're now able to take on Rockers or a Thief bug at a time. Levels Job Change-17/20: Level up on rocker's hill, one south and one west from prontera city. Rockers gives a nice drop of EXP and decent sellable item. Just watchout for the Vocal Rocker. You can also try Condors in the desert. Lunatics and Roda Frogs still gives a decent EXP, they're safe and still effective. Levels 18/21-30: Culvert 1 or try the 2nd and 3rd level with a massive killing party for power leveling. Byalan Dungeon 1, just start with planktons and kukres. Near level 30 you can try out PecoPecos, Boas and Wolves in the desert. Levels 31-40: You can now try Payon 1,2. Culvert 1,2 and 3. Smokie forest. Byalan 1,2. Horns(Mt.Mjolnir), Orc Village(have a party). Geffen Dungeon 1 for non-stop action. Yoyo Forest, One east, one north and one east from Prontera city. Elder Willow Map, 2 south, 2 west from prontera city. PecoPecos are still good to level on. Levels 41-50: Geffen Dungeon 1, avergae loots, above average Exp drop rate though the place is full of aggresiveness. Byalan 1 or 2, Excellent loots, fair EXP. Also you can try Orc Village or stay with Elder Willows until they stop giving you a nice EXP. Goblin Village if you're VIT is high enough. Payon 1,2,3 are good for you as well. Try Anacondaqs if you're soloing. Have a solid party and take on verits in the Pyramid. Drainliars in the Coal Mine are still decent EXP source. Levels 51-60: Stay where you're leveling during the levels 41-50. You can now try several places like Payon 3,4, Byalan 3,4, Hodes, Savages, Sphinx, Pyramid 2. Sunken Ship. Levels 61-70: I'd recommend Sphinx level 3 your Heal should be pretty decent now as well as your stats. Payon 3/4, Coal Mine 4 or Byalan 4 are really really good if you're tough enough. Levels 70-99: I say level where you think is good. By now you'll stop going over this guide as you've absorb as much RO experience you had playing till this level. Go MVPing with a massive party or stay where you want to level. Abusing your Vit to level ------------------------- Levels 1-Job Change: You can level on any area that has porings, fabres, lunatics, pickies, drops, or roda frogs. Basics here Levels Job Change-15: You'll have a very decent VIT by this tim. Keep on killing Rockers till level 15. Levels 15-25: Culvert 1 or try the 2nd and 3rd level with a massive killing party for power leveling. Byalan Dungeon 1, just start with planktons, kukres and Hydras. Take on Vadons when near level 25. Levels 25-35: You can now try Payon 1,2. Culvert 1,2 and 3. Smokie forest. Byalan 1,2. Horns, Worm Tail, Stainer(Mt.Mjolnir). Elder Willow Map, 2 south, 2 west from prontera city, Definitely you'll find the Elder Willow map a heaven no aggresiveness and you can sit freely and continue killing another E.Willow. Levels 35-Onwards: Geffen Dungeon 1, avergae loots, above average Exp drop rate though the place is full of aggresiveness. Take note having a party would spare you a hell lot of load specially with a couple of Acolytes. Levels 51-60: Stay where you're leveling during the levels 41-50. You can now try several places like Payon 3,4, Byalan 3,4, Hodes, Savages, Sphinx, Pyramid 2. Sunken Ship. Equip a Cranial Shield after turning into a Knight and like around job level 20 then take on Orc Heroes/Orc Lords. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- * The Ways of a Lancer/SpearKnight - *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- *- -* *- Earning Money -* *- -* Tanking is easily done as a Favor yet you could always go through cities for that service. Tanking usually differs in price depending on the current level and the targetted level. You can charge as reasonable as you can but don't go way hyped the price as you'll simple get a flame or something. Another is through Leeching, most people now a days prefer Leeching than tanking as they will ahve to position their characters in a safe place and let you do all the killing while the Shared EXP option is on. You could charge a lot from leeching than tanking since your customer would be high leveled/early job leveled characters so your call with the price. I've once had a Leeching customer pay me 200k (he's a level 23 merchant) to leech for him the whole day. It's a per hour pay so I think It's a Win situations though some would be wise enough to get to a certain level if it did happened ask them to make their characters auto-follow you so you can monitor if they leveled up or not BTW, position yourself on those maps with no to minimum aggressiveness if your leeching customer decided to leave their PC running while you work. The only natural way of earning money is by means of killing monsters. The choice would be up to you and is depending on your build. I suggest you go solo all the way and be sure to pick up every single monster drops from your kills. A way to both get a card/equipment you desire and at the same time earn money and level up is to plan ahead. For example you'll be hunting for Yoyo Card. By the time you reached around level 30+ and you're sure enough you can handle them. Feel free to head over their forest and start leveling up there. Yoyos have a very fair drops (Yoyo Tail) and you should be earning nice EXP during those levels. That's hitting 3 birds at once ^_^. The General Rule about earning money and/or leveling up I usually would give is to level up on a monster that you want to earn something from. I mean, if you want to get a Yoyo Card level up there and just level up on another place if you've already earned the card. It's tiring and all but it's worth it. Trust me :D *- -* *- Party to choose -* *- -* "I dodged it... Ack! Sword and sheath..." -- Udo Jinee, Rurouni Kenshin Swordsman - Another Swordsman wouldn't be that bad unless you find the enemies in the area too hard. Sharing XP with another Swordsman would defintely depend on where or how powerful the monsters are. If you'll be teaming up with a fellow swordsman be sure to take advantage of this and level up on tougher monsters. Thief - Same us the swordie but mostly thieves won't party with swordsman. Though in my opinion it's good to have the two jobs than 2 very same jobs. Thieves could keep monsters/aggressive ones away while you recovery then let him rest as you do your job. It's just a two way deal. Thieves also could benefit from a tough meat shield as they deal strong blows in succession. Acolyte - Preferably a support one. Any party should have at least one 'nuff said. Mages - I suggest only having one though if you'll be leveling somewhere like GH or let say you'll be trying Whispers then you should be getting one they are ultimate offensive weapons though they should always have a meat shield to protect them that's why with a swordsman around you should power level while you can. Archers - Archers are as good as mages though I constantly find having one around isn't that helpful I would always prefer other classes than them though they're the best support unit if you can't find any mages around but considering their elemental arrows you should choose between it, mages or both. Merchants - Merchants, I only party with those who really work their ass off with you. Merchants are nice if they reach the Blacksmith class so you better be nice to them as they'll own us when they do reach that level. *- -* *- PvP hints/tips -* *- -* "I'll teach you who you picked a fight with." -- Yamamoto Youko, Soreyuke! Uchuusenkan Yamamoto Youko Swordsman - Battling another swordsman would simply be a question of level, build, equipments and skill distribution. Other than that you can always escape from loosing with the proper card or a nice strategy. But being a spearknight, you won't have a problem since you can take and deal damage at them ^_^. Thief - These nimble creatures are pretty tough for us though if you're dexterous enough they'll be nothing. Thieves/Assasins only benefits from their passive skills (Dodge and double attack) alot and in order to defeat this weak bodied creatures is to hit them. Acolyte - Battle Acolytes won't be a problem, though battle priest could be. Just fight head on and use bash as much as you can before they could heal or run away. They won't have as much HP as you have so let's take that advantage and go on for the kill. Mages - Canceling their spells would definitely be the best way to win over them. So Spear Boomerang is your friend ^_^. Watch out for those "Safety-wall" Mage since they can really pawn us. Other than that they're a bunch of weaklings. Archers - Archers are something we should reckon. They're dexterous and could hit us at a very far distance then run away as they set their traps around. Again spear boom is your friend and hit them hard. If you're able to get close give him everyhting you've got. Merchants - I don't have much experience battling them so I need somebody to save me here ^_^. *- -* *- Monster Flee Chart -* *- -* "The Saotome Ougi is based on three principles: Speed, Seperation, and Strategy. In other words, run away until you think of something better." -- Saotome Genma, Ranma Nibunnoichi The number on the left is the number of Flee Rate you need to dodge/flee monster with ease. I couldn't find any other flee rate as near/accurate as this one. 87 Poring 89 Fabre 91 Lunatic 93 Picky 93 Willow 95 Drops 95 Roda Frog 95 Santa Poring 96 ChonChon 97 Condor 97 Eclipse (Miniboss) 99 Savage Babe 99 Mastering (Miniboss) 100 Toada (Miniboss) 103 Rocker 103 Spore 105 Hornet 105 Plankton 105 Dragonfly (Miniboss) 107 Kukre 110 Desert Wolf Puppy 110 Zombie 111 Ambermite 112 Creamy 113 Martin 113 Poporing 115 Muka 115 Marin 115 Tarou 116 Familiar 120 Steel Chonchon 121 Coco 122 Wolf 123 Andre 123 Deniro 123 Pecopeco 123 Poison Spore 124 Smokie 125 Bigfoot 125 Golem 125 Pierre 126 Stainer 128 Mandragora 128 Goblin (Axe) 128 Orc Zombie 130 Boa 130 Megalodon 130 Pirate Skeleton 131 Yoyo 134 Goblin (Mace) 134 Hydra 135 Vadon 136 Eggyra 136 Thara Frog 137 Argos 137 Marina 138 Elder Willow 138 Orc Skeleton 138 Orc Warrior 139 Anacondaq 139 Dustiness 139 Goblin (Hammer) 140 Vitata 140 Wormtail 141 Caramel 143 Giearth 143 Goblin (Knife) 143 Santa Goblin 143 Savage 145 Horn 145 Magnolia 145 Zerom 147 Kobold (Hammer) 148 Kaho 148 Skeleton Worker 149 Flora 149 Soldier Skeleton 150 Vocal (Miniboss) 151 Mantis 151 Metaller 152 Bongun 152 Ghoul 152 Swordfish 154 Vagabond Wolf (Miniboss) 155 Hode 156 Munak 156 Scorpion 156 Verit 160 Cornutus 160 Cookie 160 Sasquatch 161 Sohee 163 Desert Wolf 163 Frilldora 163 Marse 163 Strouf 166 Angeling (Miniboss) 168 Kobold (Axe) 170 Goblin (Chain) 170 Myst Case 170 Ghostring (Miniboss) 171 Mist 172 Marc 173 Horong 174 Whisper 175 Matyr 175 Requiem 176 Brilight 177 Argiope 181 Hunter Fly 182 Drainliar 182 Dokkaebi 185 Obeaune 185 Golden Thief Bug (MVP) 188 Choco (Miniboss) 188 Punk 189 Deviace 190 Marionette 190 Sandman 192 Mummy 192 Edgga (MVP) 193 Jakk 193 Nightmare 194 Phen 194 Skeleton Prisoner 195 Isis 195 Zenorc 196 Reydric 198 Sky Petit 198 Marduk 198 Minorous 200 Cruiser 201 Cramp 203 Earth Petit 205 Chepet 205 Zombie Prisoner 206 Evil Druid 206 Khalitzburg 206 Mimic 206 Moonlight Flower (MVP) 207 Pasana 208 Bathory 208 Iron Fist 209 Kobold (Mace) 210 Stemworm 211 Wraith 214 Arclouse 214 High Orc 215 Maya (MVP) 220 Ninetails 221 Dark Priest 221 Mistress (MVP) 223 Alarm 223 Baphomet Jr. 223 Deviruchi 225 Orc Hero (MVP) 230 Anubis 232 Joker 234 Sidewinder
