What are pets? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pets are generally monsters that you can "pet" and become your companions while exploring the world of Midgard...... This feature is currently NOT IMPLEMENTED in the International version of the Ragnarok Online servers and will be implemented in June, having played the other versions of RO (Which now has pets) , I made this guide to help people on how to capture, take care and have an idea on pets in RO in general. As far as I know, these are the pets that you can capture in Ragnarok Online : Poring Drops Picky Lunatic Chon Chon Savage Babe Rocker Peco Peco Spore Poporing Smokie Poison Spore Steel Chon Chon Orc Warrior Munak Sohee Isis Dokaebbi Hunter Fly Green Petite Deviruchi Baphomet Jr. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. What is needed to get them? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To start, you need the taming item that is suitable for that monster, for example, to capture a Drops, you need an Orange Juice. A "Pet Incubator" is needed to "hatch" the egg and receive the monster. To use a Pet Incubator, double click on the Pet Incubator, after that, a list of eggs which can be hatched will appear, in which click on the on the egg you want and press "OK". Also, a "Pet Food" is required to feed your monsters, this is very important, since if you skimp and/or forget to feed your pet, the monster could run away or die. But the direct opposite is also possible, they can also die if you over feed them too much..... To get most of these items, when the pets are implemented in RO, there will be new NPCs which would sell these items. This is a table of which item is needed to "tame" a particular monster : Unripe Apple = Poring Orange Juice = Drops Shining Stone = Green Petite Armlet of Obedience = Isis Baked Yam = Smokie Book of Devil = Baphomet Jr. Bitter Herb = Poring Book of Devil = Deviruchi Deadly Noxious Herb = Poison Spore Dew Laden Moss = Spore Earthworm the Dude = Picky Fatty Chubby Earthworm = Peco Peco Horror of Tribe = Orc Warrior Monster Juice = Hunter Fly No Recipient = Munak Old Broom = Dokaebbi Rainbow Carrot = Lunatic Rotten Fish = Chon Chon Rusty Iron = Steel Chon Chon Singing Flower = Rocker Well Dried Bone = Baby Desert Wolf Silver Knife of Chastity = Sohee Sweet Milk = Savage Bebe Tropical Banana = Yoyo ------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. How to catch a monster ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To catch a monster, simply double click the taming item, and target the monster you want to catch. (PS. You will have a better chance of catching them if you damage them first, the less life they have, the more chance you can catch them.) After that, you should see a kind of slot machine with only two choices, "success" and "failure" click on the button to stop the slot machine, when the machine stops on "failure" , you have failed and would never get an egg and wasted the taming item. If it stops on "success" , the monster would disappear and you will get the monster egg. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. What to do after a successful capture ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After getting the egg from that monster, you will now need a "Pet Incubator" . To use a Pet Incubator, double click on the Pet Incubator, after that, a list of eggs which can be hatched will appear, in which click on the egg/monster you want and press "OK". ------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Pet Commands ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pet Information : In this command, you will be shown a window that lists it's name (Where you can rename it ONLY ONCE) , it's level (It also levels up just like the player.) , it's hunger level (From "Very Full" to "Full" to "Normal" to "Hungry" to "Very Hungry") and it's affection towards you. Perform / Performance : The pet will perform certain stunts for you. This "stunt" will be different on the monster that you have and it's current relationship with you, the monster will perform a different stunt if it hates you and a different one if it likes you. Feed Pet : Feed your pet. Return to Egg status : Tired of your pet? Then revert it to egg form through this command, while the monster is reverted to an egg, it will never go hungry and/or run away.... However, to hatch them again, you will need to use another "Pet Incubator" .............. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Maintaining your Pet ------------------------------------------------------------------------- After hatching the egg, you can first set a name for it, after setting it once, you cannot change it again, to think carefully of the name. Then look at it's status by right clicking on your pet and choosing "Pet Information" , if they are from normal to Hungry, feed them NOW, or you will risk the pet running away from you. So generally after that, you just need to feed your pet whenever it's hunger change to "Normal" or lower, also, giving them an equipment could also improve it's affection towards you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- VII. Pet Accessories ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pet accessories are "equipment" that can be used on a monster, however, currently, it only provides an extra eye-candy for your monster, such as glasses for your Rocker and a backpack for your Poring. Here is the list of Pet Equipment that is found is RO (As far as I know anyway..... ^^) Backpack = Poring Rocker Glasses = Rocker Bark Shorts = Poison Spore ------------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. What are next on Pets? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- According to official statements from Gravity and some Ragnarok fansites, in the near future, pets would be also able to assist the player directly and/or warn them of dangers and other problems..... For example, if you are dying, a monster would suddenly show emoticons, and/or say something. They would be also able to gather item drops by monsters...... Also, they would be able to assist the players by attacking the monster currently being attacked by the player. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- IX.
