Revision =============================================================================== v1.0 - Initial Release. There's bound to be some mistakes so expect an update on this and maybe one or two new sections. There will be some parts that has N/A next to it and because I haven't experienced with it yet. While it is easy to get the info from another guide, I want to find out myself and let you know what I think. v1.1 - Added many sections: "Becoming a Swordsman", "Becoming a Knight", "Next Update", "FAQs" and "The Komodo Patch". The Komodo Patch has no info yet. Finished with the Agility and Hybrid description. v1.2 - Finished with the leveling up details and the Komodo Patch. I added the "Cards" section but didn't add any info yet. Fix the Two-hand Sword Mastery requirement for Auto-Counter thanks to ChineseRamen. v1.3 - Another 2 sections (Skills Build and Elemental Chart) is added that wasn't listed on the Next Update section and completed, "My Swordsman/Knight". =============================================================================== II. Introduction =============================================================================== Hello and welcome to my Swordsman/Knight guide. I started playing RO sometime during late April/ early May and I loved it ever since. I've been using a swordsman for quite sometime now and I think I should share my experience with you guys. This guide will have most of the common stuff you know and some info and opinions made by me. I hope this guide can help someone who is really new to RO and decided to choose a swordsman as their first character. But for a general overview of the game, I suggest looking at Weggy's Ragnarok Online FAQ. =============================================================================== III. Ragnarok Online =============================================================================== Ragnarok Online is a massive multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPG) game by Gravity (written by Myung-Jin Lee). The best way I can describe it is that it is a combination of 2 games: the gameplay of Diablo II and the graphics for Final Fantasy Tactics. There are 6 characters for you to become after you finish the requirement as a novice. Those are known as the 1st class characters. After that, there are another 6 characters known as the 2nd class and soon to come, another 6 (or 7) characters known as the 2nd alternative class. Not only are the characters amazing but the 3D background thats around them. So far there are 8 cities/towns that you can visit and enjoy. =============================================================================== IV. Becoming a Swordsman =============================================================================== First and foremost, what type of Swordsman/Knight do you want to be? After you decide, you'll begin RO as a novice. It would be wise to go to the training ground because you'll get free healing items AND you get to choose what city to go to. It doesn't matter what city you go to but Izulde is where you should be at the end since that's where you go take the test. The swordsman quest consist of three tests (I forgot what the first test is so if anyone know please e-mail me and I'll add you to the Special Thanks list): Test 1 - ? Test 2 - In my opinion, the fastest AND easiest test. All you have to do is walk straight through 2 long beams. Test 3 - A bit tougher but can still be easy if you don't rush and click on the right places. There will be tiles on the floor that will look quite different from the others...DON'T step on those OR make sure you don't walk on it as your passing because they will make you fall into the pit-like dungeon. Use the camera angles to your liking but you only have limited space to turn. In the end, there will be a dark spot right before the portal. If you look carefully, there is a path. So don't go walking like the dark patch is a full floor for you to walk across. Once you get out, talk to NPC. Now you're a Swordsman. Congradulations!!! =============================================================================== V. Becoming a Knight =============================================================================== As of now, there are no quest for you to do in order to become a Knight. All you have to do is go to the building thats in the Northern West part of Prontera and talk to the NPC named "Knight". You need to pay him 2,500z and that's it. Now you're a Knight. Congradulations!!! =============================================================================== VI. Types of Swordsman/Knight =============================================================================== There are 3 main types of swordsman and they are vitality, agility and hybrid. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i. Vitality ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vitality gives you more defense and HP so getting hit by monsters shouldn't bother you at all...unless there is a HUGE mob coming at you. Also, the more HP you have, the more the HP recovery will recover. Even though you take less damage, you have a high percentage of getting hit so that's why you might use up more red potions (Pots) than an Agility type. Your starting stats should look something like this: 9 STR, 5 VIT, 9 AGI, 5 DEX, 1 LUK, 1 INT. 10 STR 10 LUK 15 VIT 10 DEX 30 VIT 20 DEX 20 STR 60 VIT 30 STR 70 VIT 30 DEX 40 STR 80 VIT 50 STR 90 VIT 90 STR 92 VIT Comments: This build is very effective in the beginning. It does not require you to use much healing items since you take very little damage. With your astounding HP, you can handle mobs easily. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ii. Agility ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agility increases your flee/dodge rate and attack speed. At first you'll need a lot of herbs and/or pots (potions) to stay alive. However, when your Agility increases, you won't need as much since the enemy's attack will be missing you a lot. This type can't handle mobs well unless of course your fighting some low-level agressive monsters while your a high-level knight. Your starting stats should look something like this: 9 STR, 9 AGI, 1 VIT, 1 INT, 9 DEX, and 1 LUK. 10 STR 10 DEX 30 AGI 20 DEX 45 AGI 20 STR 50 AGI 60 AGI 30 STR 70 AGI 30 DEX 40 STR 90 AGI 90 STR 40 DEX Comments: With the right equipment, this build can make your character dodge just like a Thief (Assassin). Also, your attack speed will be increase thus making you attack faster than a vitality type. However, when you get hit, you take a lot of damage and you'll find yourself sitting. On the bright side, you won't have to sit long because of the HP regen skill. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- iii. Hybrid ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hybrid means that you are focusing on two stats and in this case Agility and Vitality. But sometimes in the end, one of the two stats will be a lot higher than the other because you will be putting points to put into the others. For example: 99 AGI, 50 VIT, 25 STR and 25 DEX. In this example, you can max out VIT but if you do, STR and DEX will be a lot lower. Some players start out with VIT until a certain point and then go fully AGI which I think its a good start for the beginners. Your starting stats should look something like this: 9 STR, 9 AGI, 5 VIT, 1 INT, 5 DEX, 1 LUK. 10 STR 10 VIT 10 DEX 25 VIT 25 AGI 20 DEX 30 VIT 30 AGI 20 STR 40 VIT 40 AGI 30 DEX 50 VIT 50 AGI 60 VIT 60 AGI 70 VIT 70 AGI 40 STR 80 VIT 80 AGI Comments: A hybrid is a combination type build. In this case the combination will be the agility and vitality build in one. You'll have a pretty good amount of speed/dodge while also having some good HP/defense. This is usually recommended for beginners. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- iv. Others ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Usually these type of characters are meant for fun. The main two (or the only two) that I know of is a pure intelligence type and a pure strength type. Since I haven't experimented these build, I don't really know how it's going to turn out in the long run. Here is my guess on the build: Intelligence - N/A _______________________________________________________________________________ Strength - N/A =============================================================================== VII. Skills =============================================================================== There are a total of 7 Swordsman skills and 10 Knight skills. Some are necessary while some aren't as important but required to get to the higher skills. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i. Swordsman Skills ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One-Handed Sword Mastery Pre-requisites: None Type of skill: Passive SP Use: None Description: Increases the attack power of one handed swords. With this you also have more defense since you can equip a shield. ______________________________________________________________________________ Two-Handed Sword Mastery Pre-requisites: Level 1 One-Handed Sword Mastery Type of skill: Passive SP Use: None Description: Increases the attack power of two handed swords. Level 1 : ATK +5 Level 2 : ATK +10 Level 3 : ATK +15 Level 4 : ATK +20 Level 5 : ATK +25 Level 6 : ATK +30 Level 7 : ATK +35 Level 8 : ATK +40 Level 9 : ATK +45 Level 10: ATK +50 Comments: Same as one-handed sword mastery except you cannot equip a shield but this skill is required if you plan on getting 2-Hand Quicken (2HQ), Auto Counter (AC) and Bowling Bash (BB). Most knights usually go in this direction when leveling up. _______________________________________________________________________________ Fast HP Recovery Pre-requisites: None Type of skill: Passive SP Use: None Description: Increases the rate you regain HP while standing still Level 1 : 5 + (Max HP/500) HP every 10 seconds, extra 10% from healing items Level 2 : 10 + (Max HP/450) HP every 10 seconds, extra 20% from healing items Level 3 : 15 + (Max HP/400) HP every 10 seconds, extra 30% from healing items Level 4 : 20 + (Max HP/350) HP every 10 seconds, extra 40% from healing items Level 5 : 25 + (Max HP/300) HP every 10 seconds, extra 50% from healing items Level 6 : 30 + (Max HP/250) HP every 10 seconds, extra 60% from healing items Level 7 : 35 + (Max HP/200) HP every 10 seconds, extra 70% from healing items Level 8 : 40 + (Max HP/150) HP every 10 seconds, extra 80% from healing items Level 9 : 45 + (Max HP/100) HP every 10 seconds, extra 90% from healing items Level 10: 50 + (Max HP/50) HP every 10 seconds, extra 100% from healing items Comments: A must have skill! The more HP you have, the more you gain back when regenerating. This lets you gain back thousands of HP in a matter of minutes. Max this skill as soon as possible. _______________________________________________________________________________ Bash Pre-requisites: None Type of skill: Active SP Use: 8 SP up until level 5, 15 SP from 6 up Description: Attacks the enemy with an extremly powerful blow. Level 1 : 133% Damage Level 2 : 166% Damage Level 3 : 199% Damage Level 4 : 232% Damage Level 5 : 265% Damage Level 6 : 298% Damage Level 7 : 331% Damage Level 8 : 364% Damage Level 9 : 397% Damage Level 10: 430% Damage Comments: A really good attack if you want to take out an enemy fast. This can be important you're a one handed sword swordsman/knight since you won't have 2HQ, AC and BB. _______________________________________________________________________________ Magnum Break Pre-requisites: Level 5 Bash Type of skill: Active SP Use: 15 SP Description: Causes a fire elemental explosion hitting all nearby enemies. Level 1 : 20 Hp used, 115% Damage Level 2 : 20 Hp used, 130% Damage Level 3 : 19 Hp used, 145% Damage Level 4 : 19 Hp used, 160% Damage Level 5 : 18 Hp used, 175% Damage Level 6 : 18 Hp used, 190% Damage Level 7 : 17 Hp used, 205% Damage Level 8 : 17 Hp used, 220% Damage Level 9 : 16 Hp used, 235% Damage Level 10: 16 Hp used, 250% Damage Comments: Also a skill to have if you don't have BB. It is a really good substitute for it. A great mob control skill and has a fire base element attack. _______________________________________________________________________________ Provoke Pre-requisites: None Type of skill: Active SP Use: 10 SP Description: Lures the enemy. Lowers their defense but raises attack power. Level 1 : ATK +2%, DEF -6% Level 2 : ATK +4%, DEF -12% Level 3 : ATK +6%, DEF -18% Level 4 : ATK +8%, DEF -24% Level 5 : ATK +10%, DEF -30% Level 6 : ATK +12%, DEF -36% Level 7 : ATK +14%, DEF -42% Level 8 : ATK +16%, DEF -48% Level 9 : ATK +18%, DEF -54% Level 10: ATK +20%, DEF -60% Comments: A skill that I sometimes use but not often. Level 1 : 10 Seconds Level 2 : 10 Seconds Level 3 : 15 Seconds Level 4 : 15 Seconds Level 5 : 20 Seconds Level 6 : 20 Seconds Level 7 : 25 Seconds Level 8 : 25 Seconds Level 9 : 30 Seconds Level 10: 30 Seconds Comments: You don't really need this skill but I would recommend getting it to at least level 1 so that if you need to escape, flinchng won't affect you when you get hit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ii. Knight Skills ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spear Mastery Pre-requisites: None Type of skill: Passive SP Use: None Description: Increases attack power with spears. Level 1 : ATK +4 (+5 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 2 : ATK +8 (+10 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 3 : ATK +12 (+15 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 4 : ATK +16 (+20 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 5 : ATK +20 (+25 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 6 : ATK +24 (+30 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 7 : ATK +28 (+35 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 8 : ATK +32 (+40 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 9 : ATK +36 (+45 When Riding PecoPeco) Level 10: ATK +40 (+50 When Riding PecoPeco) Comments: Like all the masteries here, if you plan on making a spear knight, get this skill to its max so you can inflict more damage. _______________________________________________________________________________ Pierce Pre-requisites: Level 1 Spear Mastery Type of skill: Active SP Use: 7 Description: Hits Small monsters once, Medium twice, and Large 3 times Level 1 : 110% Damage Level 2 : 120% Damage Level 3 : 130% Damage Level 4 : 140% Damage Level 5 : 150% Damage Level 6 : 160% Damage Level 7 : 170% Damage Level 8 : 180% Damage Level 9 : 190% Damage Level 10: 200% Damage Comments: Great skill against the large enemies especially since you can hit it 3 times and if you have a lot of STR, tons of damage can be inflicted. _______________________________________________________________________________ Spear Stab Pre-requisites: Level 5 Pierce Type of skill: Active SP Use: 9 Description: Impales the enemy with a spear and pushes them back. Level 1 : 115% Damage Level 2 : 130% Damage Level 3 : 145% Damage Level 4 : 160% Damage Level 5 : 175% Damage Level 6 : 190% Damage Level 7 : 205% Damage Level 8 : 220% Damage Level 9 : 235% Damage Level 10: 250% Damage Comments: Just like the description says, it pushes the enemy back. Great to use if you want to escape but other than that, don't plan on leveling this up. Get it up to level 3 so Brandish Spear can become available. _______________________________________________________________________________ Brandish Spear Pre-requisites: Level 3 Spear Stab, Level 1 Riding Type of skill: Active SP Use: 12 Description: PecoPeco required. Swings spear damaging enemies in front of you. Level 1 : 120% Damage, 1 Spread Range Level 2 : 140% Damage, 1 Spread Range Level 3 : 160% Damage, 1 Spread Range Level 4 : 180% Damage, 2 Spread Range Level 5 : 200% Damage, 2 Spread Range Level 6 : 220% Damage, 2 Spread Range Level 7 : 240% Damage, 3 Spread Range Level 8 : 260% Damage, 3 Spread Range Level 9 : 280% Damage, 3 Spread Range Level 10: 300% Damage, 4 Spread Range Comments: A very good crowd control skill for spears. At a higher level, Brandish Spear can be a wide range attack and could inflict a good amount of damage. Good for agressive areas. _______________________________________________________________________________ Spear Boomerang Pre-requisites: Level 3 Pierce Type of skill: Active SP Use: 8 Description: Throws spear like a boomerang and hits the enemy twice. Level 1 : 150% Damage, 3 square range Level 2 : 200% Damage, 5 square range Level 3 : 250% Damage, 7 square range Level 4 : 300% Damage, 9 square range Level 5 : 350% Damage, 11 Square range Comments: A really good skill to max. Just like the name, you throw your spear like a boomerang and hits all enemies that get in its way. At max level, it can go as far as an archer's arrow...maybe even farther. And what this skill even better is that you can damage elemental enemies such as Whispers. _______________________________________________________________________________ Two-Hand Quicken Pre-requisites: Level 1 2-handed Sword Mastery Type of skill: Active SP Use: 20 Description: Increases attack speed when using two-handed swords. Level 1 : 15 Second Duration Level 2 : 20 Second Duration Level 3 : 25 Second Duration Level 4 : 30 Second Duration Level 5 : 35 Second Duration Level 6 : 40 Second Duration Level 7 : 45 Second Duration Level 8 : 50 Second Duration Level 9 : 55 Second Duration Level 10: 60 Second Duration Comments: Since your attack speed increases, you can kill more enemies faster. _______________________________________________________________________________ Auto-Counter Pre-requisites: Level 1 2-Handed Sword Mastery Type of skill: Active SP Use: 2 SP per counter Description: Counters all the enemy's attacks with criticals. Level 1 : 0.3 Second Duration Level 2 : 0.6 Second Duration Level 3 : 0.9 Second Duration Level 4 : 1.2 Second Duration Level 5 : 1.5 Second Duration Comments: Auto-Counter, in my opinion, is the most powerful 1-on-1 melee skill ever! No matter who your up against, this skill can bring even the toughest boss down. However, when the Komodo patch is out, not all your hits will be critical and you can actually miss. Note: There were many people confused about the the requirement for Auto- Counter. I'm here to tell you that you only need ONE 2-Handed Sword Mastery _______________________________________________________________________________ Bowling Bash Pre-requisites: Level 5 2-handed Sword Mastery, Level 10 2-hand Quicken, Level 5 Auto-counter, Level 10 Bash, Level 3 Magnum Break Type of skill: Active SP Use: 15 Description: Similar to Magnum Break but causes splash damage to nearby enemies Level 1 : 150% Damage Level 2 : 200% Damage Level 3 : 250% Damage Level 4 : 300% Damage Level 5 : 350% Damage Level 6 : 400% Damage Level 7 : 450% Damage Level 8 : 500% Damage Level 9 : 550% Damage Level 10: 600% Damage Comments: A really strong mob control skill. It also knocks the enemies back which cause more damage to themselves as they all hit each other. _______________________________________________________________________________ PecoPeco Riding Pre-requisites: Level 1 Endure Type of skill: Passive SP Use: None Description: Allows you to ride a PecoPeco. Level 1 : Allows you to ride a PecoPeco Comments: Well, if you like to get around places faster, then be my guess and get this skill. But you should master Cavalier Mastery first otherwise your attack speed will be slower than normal. A spear weapon might have an advantage while your on a PecoPeco. _______________________________________________________________________________ Cavalier Mastery Pre-requisites: Level 1 Riding Type of skill: Passive SP Use: None Description: Increases your attack speed on a PecoPeco. Level 1 : 60% Attack Speed Level 2 : 70% Attack Speed Level 3 : 80% Attack Speed Level 4 : 90% Attack Speed Level 5 : 100% Attack Speed Comments: If you want to attack faster on a PecoPeco, you MUST get this skill! =============================================================================== VIII. Skills Build =============================================================================== So far the main build I know thats great is the one I'm using now. It uses the 3 main skills for two-handed swords. I'll be making a one-handed sword, two-handed sword and a spear skills build. It may or may not be as perfect but you can always change it to your liking. In my opinion, you should MAX out HP Recovery as soon as possible. Layout: # of points you should put, name of skill, how many you should have already. ONE-HANDED SWORD - N/A TWO-HANDED SWORD - 10 Increase HP Recovery 5 Bash 1 One-Handed Sword Mastery 5 Two-Handed Sword Mastery 3 Magnum Break 5 Two-Handed Sword Mastery (5) 4 Bash (5) 5 Provoke Job LvL 40 -> 1 Endure ------------------------------ 1 Bash (9) 5 Two-Hand Quicken 5 Auto-Counter 5 Two-Hand Quicken (5) 10 Bowling Bash 1 PecoPeco Ride 5 Cavalier Mastery That's all this skills this build needs. You you have a lot of points left over, I think you should put some (or all) points into the spear skills. SPEAR - N/A =============================================================================== IX. Equipment =============================================================================== These equipments are to help your character boost their stats as much as possible. Of course, some of these items will be extremely hard to get. You can purchase them from people but the come at a hefty price. Here is my view of the best equipment Agility/Dodge - Head Gear: Ghost Band [+2 AGI] Armor: Chain Mail with Thief Card [+1 AGI] Weapon: ? Garment: Manteau (or Muffler) with Whisper Card [+20 Dodge] Foot Gear: Boots (or Shoes) with Male Thief Card [+2 AGI] Accessories: 2 Brooches or 2 clips with YoYo Cards [+5 Perfect Dodge, +1 AGI] _______________________________________________________________________________ Vitality/Defense - Head Gear: Helm [6 Defense] +5 with Elunium, Total: 11 Defense Points Lower Section: Iron Cain [2 Defense] Armor: Full Plate with Steel ChonChon Card [12 Defense] +5 with Elunium, Total: 17 Defense Points Weapon: ? Garment: Manteau [4 Defense] Foot Gear: Boots [4 Defense] Accessories: 2 Necklace =============================================================================== X. Cards =============================================================================== Cards in Ragnarok are like gems in Diablo II. You put gems into equipments that are socketable and in Ragnarok, you put cards into equipments that are slotted. Every card in Raganarok prove to be useful but only under certain circumstances. For example, the Vadon Card. The ability says "20% Additional damages on the Fire Property monsters". Of course this card is useless against the non-fire element monsters but you will be proud to have it for when you do fight the fire-based enemies. Some cards however, is useful all the time such as the Whisper Card or the Soldier Skeletion Card. Layout: Name, slot location, decription, my opinion. Soldier Skeleton (Weapon): Critical +9% (soon to be +5% - Komodo Patch) -This card isn't that popular for knights but if you plan on making a critical knight, get this card. LoL, surprise all the Assassins that you'll be as many criticals as they are but will more damage. Pharaoh (Head): All spells are reduce by 1/2 -This card is actually great for all classes. As for knights, this means you can Bowling Bash a lot more enemies, you can have more SP for Two-Hand Quicken and Auto-Counter. What other reasons do you need? Phreeoni Petite (Weapon): Always hit when attacking except for perfect dodge -If you get a hold of this card, you can basically forget about putting points into DEX however, the more stronger enemies will have a high amount of AGI and you can still miss a lot. Plus, DEX not only gives you more "To Hit" but increases minimum damage and attack speed (along with AGI). Sidewinder (Weapon): Enable you to use LvL 1 Double Attack -Of course not as effective as a LvL 10 Double Attack but with 2HQ you'll most likely hit the enemy with the Double Attack a few times. Not something to go crazy about but its a good card to have or use. Whisper (Garment): Dodge +20%, 5% sdditional damage taken by Ghost property -This card is really good for ALL agility type characters whether or not they are a Swordsman/Knight. However, this This card or the equipment that it's socketed into, is EXTREMELY expensive. From what I recently heard its around 10-13 million z's. More Cards to come... =============================================================================== XI. My Swordsman/Knight =============================================================================== Here's all the info about my character as of now. This should give you a rough idea on an Agi Knight looks like at my level. I've listed my stats, skills and what I'm currently wearing. This section will definitely be updated a lot. LvL: Base 65, Job 35 (65/35) Stats: STR 35+6 AGI 83+2 VIT 1+8 INT 1 DEX 20+3 LUK 6+7 Skills: (Swordsman)- 1 One-Handed Sword Mastery 10 Two-Handed Sword Mastery 10 Increase HP Recovery 10 Bash 5 Provoke 3 Magnum Break 1 Endure -------------------------------------- (Knight)- 10 Two-Hand Quicken 5 Auto-Counter 10 Bowling Bash 1 PecoPeco Ride 5 Cavalier Mastery Equipments: Head - Sakkat Armor - Full Plate Weapon - Claymore Garment - Quick Hood (Slotted Hood with Condor Card) Foot Gear - Boots Accessories - Rosaries (x2) What I want: Well everything I want is already listed up on the Agility/Dodge Equipment section. =============================================================================== XII. Leveling Up =============================================================================== A lot of people has their own idea on where to level up depending on your character's level. Note: This is a sketch of where you should level. If you find yourself getting a good amount of EXP, stay where you are and keep leveling there. I will try to update this with more details. Layout: Base Level, the place, decription/opinion, and the monsters. Level 1-10: Usually ouside the town you are in. No question asked about this. The starting place for a novice to level is always a screen or two away from the town. ENEMIES: Poring, Fabre, ChonChon, Level 11-15: Rockers Just letting you know, you won't be staying here too long because your just trying to gain enough levels for Culvert. Level 16-30: Culvert 1-4 The best place to level up because of the constant spawning of monsters (like all dungeons). The best part is that they are not aggressive (besides Familiar) but watch out for the bugs since they gang up on you. ENEMIES: LvL 1 - Familiar, Spore, Tarou, Thief Bug, Theif Bug Egg LvL 2 - Familiar, Spore, Thief Bug, Thief Bug Egg, Female Thief Bug, Plankton LvL 3 - Familiar, Poporing, Hydra, Tarou, Thief Bug, Thief Bug Egg, Female Thief Bug LvL 4 - Thief Bug, Theif Bug Egg, Female Theif Bug, Male Thief Bug, Golden Bug (MVP) Level 31-50: Geffen Dungeon 1-3 Just like the Culverts or like any dungeons, the spawning rate is pretty high. However, it's a little more dangerous because there are a lot more agressive monsters. In level 2 and 3, you will need an elemental weapon because some enemies can't be hurt by physical attacks. ENEMIES: LvL 1 - Familiar, Poporing, Poison Spore, Dustiness LvL 2 - Argos, Dustiness, Jakk, Poison Spore, Whisper LvL 3 - Whisper, Nightmare, Myst, Marionette, Joker, Argos, Jakk, Bathory, Doppleganger (MVP) Level 51-55: Payon Dungeon 1-5 A good place to get loot from Munaks and Sohees, not to mention the experience. Payon has a good place to fight Smokies if you want the Kitty Headband. ENEMIES: LvL 1 - Familiar, Spore, Zombie LvL 2 - Eggyra, Familiar, Magnolia, Martin, Smokie LvL 3 - Familiar, Magnolia, Munak LvL 4 - Archer Skeleton, Magnolia, Mandragora, Munak, Sohee, Soldier Skeleton LvL 5 - Archer Skeleton, Horong, Sohee, Soldier Skeleton, Moonlight Flower (MVP) Level 56-60: Orc Dungeon 1-2 You should already be a knight by the time you get to this level and mainly trying to get your job level up instead. You don't have to go go here but they give good exp and loot. ENEMIES: LvL 1 - ChonChon, Drainliar, Orc Skeleton, Orc Zombie, Familiar, Steel ChonChon LvL 2 - Orc Skeleton, Orc Zombie, ChonChon, Familiar, Zenorc, Orc Lord (MVP) Level 61+: Pyramid, Coal Mine, Biblian I'm just naming places here. I'm currently at level 65 and currently in Payon dungeon. The experience isn't so bad but picking up some worthy loot to sell is what I was mainly after. So at this level, any dungeon at level 2-3 (maybe 4) sounds good. Level 80+: Anywhere you want! Well you can go anywhere and can kill a lot of the enemies but some places you just got to have a party. Explore and find which is a good place for you...which is most likely high in the level dungeon area (not to mention the new dungeon maps, Clock Tower and Glast Heim). =============================================================================== XIII. The Komodo Patch =============================================================================== The Komodo Patch has TONS of new additions but I'll only mention the necessary swordsman/knight stuff. SWORDSMAN: - Provoke's SP take is determined in which level you use it at (ex. LvL 1 Provoke cost 2SP while LvL 10 is 20SP). I don't what the purpose of this is but I'll find out. - Regenerating HP: Another way to regenerate HP is by simply walking! - Weak Point Attack: When using a level 6 or higher Bash, there is a chance of the enemy being stunned. The higher the Bash level the higher the chance. - Auto Berserk: When your HP is less than 25%, Provoke is automatically casted on you. Unlike the normal Provoke, this will continue on until your HP is above 26%. KNIGHT: - TwoHand Quicken's SP is determined in which level you use it at (just like Provoke). I believe that using a LvL 10 2HQ (40-50sp?) will give you 300 seconds or 5 minutes which is a lot of time. - Bowling Bash & Brandish Spear: There is now a 1 second casting time and while you wait for that second to pass, your equipment's DEF (not vitality DEF) will be reduced to 2/3 only. However, this casting time will not be canceled when hit. - Bowling Bash: Besides the casting time mentioned above, the SP usage has also changed. - Auto-Counter: It no longer causes critical hits, but will just ignore DEF of the monster. Depending on the enemy's FLEE rate, your hits can hit or miss. However, when you do hit you so 2x the damage of what critical blow would do still making this skill very dangerous...not to mention the +20 HIT rate you get from using it. Oh, once you start Auto-Counter you can't move until it's done meaning that it hits an enemy. GENERAL INFO: - If you are fighting more than 3 enemies at once, defense from VIT will decrease like AGI. - Status Effect: ~You cannot dodge while Stun/Sleep/Frozen. ~If you're in Sleep state, chance of receiving critical blow is increased by 2x. ~When in Dark state, your HIT and FLEE rate will be decreased by 25%. ~When in Frozen/Stone state, your MDEF will go up by 25%. It will return to normal after being hit. Also, Priests can't cast Lex Eterna on you. ~When in Stone state, your elemental will change into Earth LvL 1. ~When in Frozen / Stone state, your DEF will be decreased by 50%. It will return to normal after being hit. - Stronger Equipments: ~The item drop rate with roughs and pure stones has been increased. ~In addition, Weapon and Armor upgrade's success rate has been increased also. ~With LvL 4 weapons, it'll always have a 100% success rate up to +4 upgrade level. ~LvL 4 weapons will receive +7 ATK bonus per +1 upgrade level. ~When a weapon reaches a certain point in upgrading, it will add additional random damage to your weapon depending on weapon level and + grade level. ~The safety rate for upgrading armor has been reduced from 5 to 4, but you will have 100% success rate up to +4 upgrade level. ~When you fail while upgrading a weapon or armor, the weapon/armor will disappear completely! NOTE: I think there was more info than this but since the link to the more detailed information about the Komodo Patch was down, I had to get an alternative site. If I find out any more new stuff, I'll let you guys know. =============================================================================== XVI. FAQs =============================================================================== This FAQs section only deals with Swordsman/Knight question and not the common ones like "Where can I get this game?" or "Do you have to pay to play?" If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will try to answer it as soon as possible. Q: What type of swordsman/knight is best to use? A: They all their strengths and weaknesses but in my opinion, I think that either Agility or a Hybrid would be best. I heard that Vitality will get nerfed (toned down). Q: How long does 2-Hand Quicken last? A: I never timed it but I think it's somewhere between 30 seconds to 1 minute. However, in the Komodo Patch, depending on what level your 2HQ is, the longer it will last. I think for the full level 10 it will last 5 minutes. Q: How do you use Auto Counter? A: The main way of making Auto Counter work is that you have to face the enemy. If the enemy is agressive, then it'll be easier. Press the AC hotkey (assuming you hotkeyed it) right before he gets to you which is about 2-3 squares or an inch away from your character should be good. If another agressive enemy comes and attacks you from the side, you can press the AC hotkey to counter it also. Of course you got to press it fast and it does work. If you find yourself getting hit too much, it means that the AC won't work. Run away (but don't lose him), turn around to face the enemy and press the AC hotkey. Q: Should I be a One or Two-Handed Sword swordsman/knight? A: If you plan on using 2-Hand Quicken, then go for the Two-Handed swords. If you plan on being a Crusader (Character Not Available Yet), then go for the One-Handed swords. Of course, whichever you choose make sure you max out their masteries. Q:Are Spear Knights good? A: I haven't made a spear knight as of yet but from what I've seen, they can do a lot of damage and they have some good attacks. I'm not sure if this is true but I heard that spear knights can do a little bit more damage while on a PecoPeco. I'll update this answer as I find out from people who are spear knights =============================================================================== XVII.
