It is issued with a smart-linked scope capable of 2x magnification (press Z). It fires 12.7mm semi-armor-piercing, high-explosive rounds. It can shoot either semiautomatic or automatic fire (click and hold the left mouse button for automatic fire). Summary: This weapon is probably one of the best multiplayer weapons you can get. It is easy to find, has good damage, and its zoom feature makes it very valuable, and allows it to be used for sniping in some cases when you cannot get access to a Sniper Rifle. Another good feature is the semi- automatic firing; if you hold down the shoot button, it will continually fire. A very good choice for small and mid-sized levels. 3.i.b: Assualt Rifle(Human) -------------------------- Full Name: MA5B Assault Rifle Zoom: Normal Clip Size: 60 Maximum Ammo: 600 Reload Time: 3.4 Rate of Fire: 15 Damage: 10 Melee Damage: 50 Description: "This rifle is gas-operated and magazine-fed. It fires 7.62mm armor-piercing rounds. Rate of fire is limited by a soldier's ability to aim, fire and change magazines. Short, controlled busts are more accurate than fully automatic fire. The MA5B's integrated computer displays rounds left in the magazine and the relative direction of the gas giant, Threshold, for point of reference. This feature is particularly useful for orienting you in areas where it's easy to get turned around and lose your sense of direction." Summary: This is not a good choice most of the time. The bullets are so weak that you won't be able to do enough damage to kill your target most of the time, and there is almost no way to aim. It is a bit more useful in smaller levels, but I recommend that you switch it as soon as you can. 3.i.c: Shotgun(Human) --------------------- Full Name: M90 Shotgun Zoom: Normal Clip Size: 12 Maximum Ammo: 60 Reload Time: 0.4 x 12(0.4 per bullet) Rate of Fire: 1 x 15(shoots 15 projectiles at once) Damage: 18(per bullet) Melee Damage: 50 Description: "The shotgun is a pump-action magazine-fed (dual tubular non-detachable type) weapon. It fires 8 gauge magnum (3.5") rounds. This weapon is very effective against targets at close range and may be used to engage several targets simultaneously at medium and long range." Summary: A good choice in small and medium-sized levels. Use in narrow tunnels or caves, at close range to your opponent. Very powerful weapon. 3.i.d: Sniper Rifle(Human) -------------------------- Full Name: S2 AM Sniper Rifle Zoom: Normal, 2x, 10x Clip Size: 4 Maximum Ammo: 24 Reload Time: 0(takes really long to reload) Rate of Fire: 2 Damage: 101 Melee Damage: 50 Description: "This rifle is a gas-operated magazine-fed weapon. It is issued with a smart- linked scope with two levels of magnification (press Z once for 2x, press again for 8x, and once more to deactivate). It fires 14.5mm armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding-sabot rounds. WARNING: The 14.5x114mm APFSDS round is an anti-material munition. It can easily over-penetrate several armored soldiers. Be sure of what is on the other side of your target before firing." Summary: This weapon is good for... dur... Sniping? It is really powerful, and its zoom makes it good for seeing far away enemies. It is best to find a high location, out of sight, zoom in, and shoot enemies. One head-shot should kill most enemies. It is easier to hit them when they are standing still. This weapon cannot hold very much ammo, and if you run out, and aren't near more ammo, swap it for another weapon. It is horrible for close range combat, so don't use it for fighting an enemy close up, because in the time it takes you to aim, you will have been shot down and raped three times by your enemy. Also, watch out for bad nasties that like to sneak up behind you and give you a friendly pat on the back. 3.i.e: Rocket Launcher(Human) ----------------------------- Full Name: M19 SSM Rocket Launcher Zoom: Normal, 2x Clip Size: 2 Maximum Ammo: 8 Reload Time: 5 Rate of Fire: 0.5 Damage: 300 Melee Damage: 50 Description: "The M19 SSM is a man-portable and shoulder-fired rocket launcher. It has two major components, the launcher and the magazine. The magazine (the expendable part of the system) contains two 102mm shaped-charge, high- explosive rockets. It is designed for fast, easy detatchment from the launcher. The launcher contains the sighting and fire control systems. It is issued with a smart-linked scope with two levels of magnification (press Z once for 2x, press again for 8x, and once more to deactivate)." Note: Since when was there an 8x magnification? Looks like whoever wrote the manual got lazy. Summary: Bang! These things are powerful. They are good for almost any case, and if you hit the enemy, their body will be blown into tiny little bits that fly around the room and splatter all over the wall. When in small, confined areas, be careful not to hit the wall, or the enemy when he is really close, or you will be flying in all directions. The zoom feature is a nice little thing to have. The one bad thing about this is the ammo. You can only carry 8 rockets, and you need to reload after every 2. You also need to wait after firing, and it takes a really long time to load. Be cautious. 3.i.f: Flamethrower(Human) -------------------------- Zoom: Normal Clip Size: 100% Maximum Ammo: 600% Reload Time: 3.4 Rate of Fire: 12 Damage: 20 on impact + 12 every second or so Melee Damage: 70 Description: "The M7057 Defoliant Projector is a standard chemical flamethrower which projects and ignites a stream of volatile, semi-liquid adhesive. Flamethrowers are cumbersome, difficult to aim, and effective only at short range. However, they are excellent suppression weapons, and against unshielded enemies or structures they are devastating." Summary: Wee! This thing is nice when you are close up to the enemy, and it sure beats the hell outa shooting eachother with pistols. If you use this against someone in a head-to-head faceoff against an enemy equipped with a standard weapon, you will win. Hold the fire on them for a while, and watch their body burn. It's also fun to sneak up behind someone and cook them. Remember, boys and girls, to always get supervision from a parent or guardian before playing with fire, especially when using it in a harmful manner. 3.i.g: Plasma Pistol(Covenant) ------------------------------ Zoom: Normal Clip Size: Infinite Maximum Ammo: 100 Reload Time: Cannot reload Rate of Fire: 1 bolt/trigger, charge takes 0.6 Damage: 12(normal), 70(charged) Melee Damage: 50 Description: "Core power output: 100-150 kV : 2-3 dA Overcharge power output: 1.5 mV : 2-3 dA This weapon is a semi-automatic directed energy weapon. If you pull and hold the left mouse button, the weapon may become over-charged; when the left mouse button is released the bolt is launched. After the over-charged bolt is launched the weapon temporarily stops functioning as it dumps waste heat. Use of the over-charge capability rapidly depletes the weapon's power core. We currently do not understand how to replace or recharge a power core. Note: This weapon will deplete its energy source as you use it. It is wise to replace it as often as possible." Summary: This weapon has its ups and downs, but the Human Pistol is still better. When charged, it can fully deplete an enemy's shield, even if he has an overshield. Charged shots also tend to lock on a bit. 3.i.h: Plasma Rifle(Covenant) ----------------------------- Zoom: Normal Clip Size: Infinite Maximum Ammo: 100 Reload Time: Cannot reload Rate of Fire: 8 Damage: 16 Melee Damage: 50 Description: "Core power output: 100-150 kV : 2-3 dA Rate of Fire: 420-600 RD/MIN This is a directed energy weapon. It is capable of either semiautomatic or automatic fire (click and hold the left mouse button for automatic fire). Continuous rapid fire overheats the weapon-this in turn depleted the weapons power core. We currently do not understand how to replace or re-charge a power core. Note: This weapon will deplete its energy source as you use it. It is wise to replace it as often as possible." Summary: This weapon is a bad choice for multiplayer, in my opinion. It does better than the Assault Rifle, though. 3.i.i: Needler(Covenant) ------------------------ Zoom: Normal Clip Size: 20 Maximum Ammo: 80 Reload Time: 1 Rate of Fire: 7 Damage: 10 + 60 per explosion Melee Damage: 50 Description: "Very little is known about this weapon other than that it is a magazine- fed weapon capable out automatic fire. Its projectiles penetrate off hard surfaces at oblique angles, however, and are always deflected by energy fields- the only exceptions to this are the shields generated by the MJOLNIR battle suit and the Elite's combat armor. The composition and energy signature of its projectile is unknown. The manner in which the projectiles home in on their target is also unknown." Summary: This weapon is okay in multiplayer, but only because the projectiles home in on their targets, so you don't need to aim as much. One thing that the manual failed to mention is that the projectiles explode after injecting themselves into a target. More explosions will be caused by the more shards of glass you can pump into your enemy, and the explosions will do a fair amount of damage. 3.i.j: Fuel Rod Cannon(Covenant) -------------------------------- Zoom: Normal Clip Size: N/A Maximum Ammo: N/A Reload Time: Cannot reload Rate of Fire: 2.2 Damage: 28(impact), 85(explosion) Melee Damage: 50 Description: "Core power output: 250-300 kV : 4-5 dA Overcharge power output: 2.5mV : 4-5 dA The Fuel Rod Gun is an indirect-fire weapon: its explosive projectiles follow an arc-like trajectory. The impact of a Fuel Rod is powerful and effective against vehicles and infantry alike. Be careful, however, as rapid fire overheats the weapon. We currently do not understand how to replace or re-charge a power core. Note: This weapon will deplete its energy source as you use it. It is wise to replace it as often as possible." Summary: Wow. This thing is powerful. Really, really powerful. So powerful that your team mates will be killing eachother to get to it(please, don't TK). As stated in the description, this weapon fires their projectiles at an arc-like trajectory, meaning that they will fall as they fly, rather than going in a straight line. They are really good for taking out vehicles, including the almighty Banshee. They are also good for clearing out bases so you can run in and grab a flag. Anything hit by one of these dies in pretty much one hit. Just don't shoot something too close to you, or... =/ 3.i.k: Frag Grenade(Human) -------------------------- Full Name: M9 HE-DP Grenade Explosion Damage: 120 Description: "The M9 high explosive, dual purpose grenade is a thrown fragmentation device. Use it to suppress or disable vehicles, except tanks. It can be thrown, rolled, bounced, or ricocheted into places direct fire weapons can't reach. Increase the angle of the throw to toss it farther or get it over obstacles. Be careful not to throw it too close to your own location." Summary: Despite what the manual says, this weapon is not good for taking out vehicles, because it is so hard to hit them, and the vehicle will probably just drive right past it and out of its range. It is, however, good for killing other players. It is pretty hard to see, and can be bounced into almost any location. 3.i.l: Plasma Grenade(Covenant) ------------------------------- Explosion Damage: 120 Description: "This weapon is similar to our own hand grenade in that it is a thrown anti-infantry and anti-vehicle weapon. It has some kind of internal mechanism that allows it to distinguish between targets and background. For example, it will stick to a soldier or vehicle, but not a tree or wall. It has a three-second fuse that is activated after it sticks to a target or otherwise comes to a rest." Summary: THIS is the anti-vehicle weapon. This grenade is similar to the Frag Grenade, but you can't bounce it off of walls. The best feature that this thing has is that it will stick to objects, which is why it is so good for taking out vehicles and other players. It can even take out a Banshee, if you are lucky. If you stick it to another player, they will surely die, because there is no way to get it off once it is stuck to you. Be careful, though, that the player doesn't come up and give you a nice big hug and share his prize with you. 3.i.m: Ball(Other) ------------------ Melee Damage: 80 Summary: Not really a weapon, but I guess I had to include it in here. Does more melee damage than most other weapons. 3.i.n: Flag(Other) ------------------ Melee Damage: 80 Summary: Not really a weapon, but I guess I had to include it in here. Does more melee damage than most other weapons. /-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-\ | 3.II Vehicles | \-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-/ 3.ii.a: Warthog(Human) ---------------------- Full Name: M12 Warthog LRV Top Speed(Forward): 275 Top Speed(Reverse): 120 Seats: Driver Seat - Third Person Side Seat - Fires Equipped Weapon Gunner Seat - Fires Warthogs Gun Weapon's Rate of Fire: 15 Weapon's Ammo: Infinite Weapon's Damage: 16 Description: "The M12 light reconnaissance vehicle (LRV), or Warthog, is the standard vehicle of the UNSC armed forces. It is fast and manuverable, but prone to rollovers during hard cornering. A three-barreled machine-gun is mounted in the rear of the vehicle. Armed passengers significantly increase the unit's anti-infantry capacity." Summary: This is a nice vehicle for use in multiplayer. It can fit up to three players. It is fast and easy to steer, but watch that you don't flip it and crash. The weapon on the back isn't very good for killing enemies, and I find that having the driver run them down is a lot better. When trying to run people over, you should turn the vehicle, so that the rear end of the vehicle swings around and hits them. This greatly increases your chances of knocking them down. Try to stay on the move, since there is no defense against snipers, and be sure never to drive in straight lines(swerve around), because you are an easy target for rockets and fuel rods. 3.ii.b: Rocket Warthog(Human) ----------------------------- Full Name: M12A 1 Warthog LAAV Top Speed(Forward): 275 Top Speed(Reverse): 120 Seats: Driver Seat - Third Person Side Seat - Fires Equipped Weapon Gunner Seat - Fires Warthogs Gun Weapon's Rate of Fire: 1.2 Weapon's Ammo: 9999(Not infinite, like everyone thinks) Weapon's Damage: 300 Description: "The M12A 1 light anti-armor vehicle(LAAV) is a variant of the Warthog-the machine gun is replaced with a triple-barreled 102mm rocket launcher. Like its counterpart, it is fast and highly manuverable. Although the rocket launcher makes it an effective anti-vehicle weapon platform, the time required to reload the weapon after firing all three rockets leave the vehicle and its occupants vulnerable to counter-attacks." Summary: This is the exact same as the Warthog, except it has a Rocket Launcher on the back instead of the machine gun. All of the stuff about the Warthog applies to this as well, however, the rocket launcher makes this a much better vehicle, as it is backed up with more power. Take note that the reload button reloads the gun. It is also nice if an opponent is attacking your base and one of these babies is parked nearby, you can hop on the back and fire at the door of your base when the enemy comes out with the flag. 3.ii.c: Scorpion Tank(Human) ---------------------------- Full Name: M808B Scorpion MBT Top Speed(Forward): 140 Top Speed(Reverse): 120 Seats: Driver Seat - Third Person, Fires Scorpions Weapons Passengers(x4) - Sit on side, First Person, Fires Equipped Weapon Weapon's Rate of Fire: Cannon - Needs to reload for 4 seconds after every shot Machine Gun - 15 Weapon's Ammo: Cannon - 9999 Machine Gun - Infinite Weapon's Damage: Cannon - 351 Machine Gun - 10 Description: "The Scorpion Main Battle Tank is primarily an anti-vehicle weapons platform, but it also has very high anti-infantry capabilities. Its ceramic-titanium armor makes it nearly invulnerable to small arms fire, but its deep dead- zone(the area within which fire from the tank's guns cannot hit targets) puts it at risk from enemy anti-tank infantry. Up to four soldiers may ride on(and fire from) the Scorpion's track pods. Riding on a tank is always hazardous and should be done only when the advantages outweigh the risks." Summary: Wow. This thing is powerful. The downsides are that it is slow, the main cannon takes so long to reload, and it can be easily destroyed by Banshees and sometimes Plasma Grenades. It is a bad idea for other players to ride on the sides, and is recommended that they get off when there are enemies around. 3.ii.d: Ghost(Covenant) ----------------------- Top Speed(Forward): 225 Top Speed(Reverse): 5 Seats: Driver Seat - Third Person, Fires Ghosts Weapon Weapon's Rate of Fire: 6 Weapon's Ammo: Infinite Weapon's Damage: 10 Description: "The Ghost is the Covenant's standard reconnaissance and rapid attack vehicle. It is equipped with two of what are now accepted as the standard light vehicle mounted weapons: a directed energy weapon capable of projecting a bolt of super-heated plasma in the 100-250kW range. While the vehicle is fast and manuverable, the driver is virtually unprotected." Summary: Fast, easy to fly, can get in small areas, good. The downside? It gets easily flipped, is weak, and has a pretty useless weapon. It is suggested that you run people over instead of shooting them. 3.ii.e: Shade(Covenant) ----------------------- Top Speed(Forward): 0 Top Speed(Reverse): 0 Seats: Gunner - Third Person, Fires Shade's weapon Weapon's Rate of Fire: 4 Weapon's Ammo: Infinite Weapon's Damage: 20 Description: "Although the Shade appears to be a light anti-vehicle weapon, the Covenant uses it almost exclusively in an anti-infantry role. The operator sits directly behind the gun and an armored control suite, but relies entirely on infantry support for protection to the sides and rear." Summary: No. Stay away. Getting in this thing is about the same as jumping off of a bridge. It has no defense, its weapon is weak, and it is an easy target for Banshees. The only way this this is useful is if you have people backing you up. 3.ii.f: Banshee(Covenant) ------------------------- Top Speed(Forward): 220 Top Speed(Reverse): 30 Seats: Driver - Third Person, Fires Banshee's weapon Weapon's Rate of Fire: Fuel Rod Cannon - Must reload for 4 seconds after every shot Plasma Gun - 6 Weapon's Ammo: Fuel Rod Cannon - 9999 Plasma Gun - Infinite Weapon's Damage: Fuel Rod Cannon - 75 Plasma Gun - 10 Description: "The Banshee is the Covenant's standard ground assault aircraft. It is very fast, extremely manuverable and capable of hovering. It has two weapon pods mounted to either side of the fuselage. Both of these pods contain a light plasma cannon and a fuel rod cannon. Though small arms fire may disrupt or disable the pilot, only heavy weapons are capable of inflicting damage or destroying the vehicle." Summary: This is the most powerful vehicle in multiplayer, and because of that, it probably the most hated as well. When a game starts, everyone on the team will immediately rush towards where the Banshees are, and kill eachother to get to them. Once all of the Banshees are gone, people will stand around in the area where the Banshees were, waiting for more to spawn. Whenever someone dies and is respawned at the base, they will go check to see if there are any Banshees free. Why? Because these are the most powerful tool in the game. Whoever has a Banshee will have more kills and the least deaths when the game is over, and they will be able to enjoy flying around the level blowing up anything that moves. Banshees have an infinite ammount of health, and can never be destroyed. To immobilize one, you will need to kill the pilot, which is a very tricky thing to do, because the pilot will be swerving around blowing things up at very high speeds. The Fuel Rod Cannon on these things also makes them very powerful against vehicles and players alike. The only things that these aren't good at killing is other Banshees. In fact, when two Banshees get locked in combat, they will usually fly around in a circle, trying to shoot eachother. These crafts are unable to turn enough to hit another Banshee when it is also turning, so it is futile. If you ever get locked in a loop with another Banshee, don't just circle it and attempt to shoot it down, because it doesn't work. If this happens, break the circle every so often by turning in a different direction, stopping for a second, or flying away, and then back. Doing this can sometimes confuse your opponent, but it may also leave your back to them for long enough that they can get an advantage, so be careful. The normal gun is pretty weak, but the Fuel Rod is powerful enough to take out players in one hit, and vehicles in two or three. It helps to get behind the vehicle and hit them in the back, before they can turn and counter-attack. It is also fun to drive right into players, but be careful that they don't snap a plasma grenade on you when you get close. /-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-\ | 3.III Power-Ups | \-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-/ 3.iii.a: Overshield ------------------- These will increase your shields to about 400% their normal power, but they will not recharge until they drop back into normal range. Fairly useful. 3.iii.b: Active Camouflauge -------------------------- These will make you temporarily invisible. All that can be seen of you is a faint blur in the enviornment, and your are extremely hard to see when standing still. Very useful. 3.iii.c: Health Pack -------------------- These recharge your health to full. Very useful at times when you are near death. /-=-=-=-=-=-=-\ | 3.IV Levels | \-=-=-=-=-=-=-/ 3.iv.a: Battle Creek -------------------- Description: "Splash Splash Bang Bang 2-8 players" Common Gametypes: Slayer Capture the Flag King of the Hill Oddball Comments: This is a fairly small map. There are bases on each side of it, separated by a river. A large rock arch lays above the river, and usually has a Rocket Launcher on top. To the sides, ladders lead up to small caves in the cliff edge with Sniper Rifles, and on one side, you can jump to get on top of the arch. At the end of the river, there is a small cave that usually contains an Active Camo, and behind the bases you can find Overshields and Health Packs. One of the best ways to dominate this level is to grab the Active Camo, climb the ladder and grab the Sniper Rifle, then jump onto the arch and blow up everything with the Rocket Laucher, or start sniping. 3.iv.b: Damnation ----------------- Description: "Covenant Hydro- Processing Center 4-8 players" Common Gametypes: Slayer Oddball Comments: An interesting indoor level, but one of the least favorites. There are various weapons scattered about. 3.iv.c: Rat Race ---------------- Description: "Up the Ramps Down the Tubes 2-6 players" Common Gametypes: Slayer Capture the Flag King of the Hill Oddball Comments: This is a nice level. There are teleporters in various places around the outside of the level, and on the inside is a cave that leads around. If you travel through the cave you will find an Active Camo and Overshield, each in different locations, floating above holes that will deposit you near one of the flags(assuming you are playing CTF). Obviously, the strategy for CTF would be to run into the cave, grab a power up(peferablly Active Camo), jump down, grab the flag, and run home. If you are in the lower areas of the level, you can go to an area below where the power ups are, look up, and shoot the power up through a hole, which will cause it to drop down and allow you to pick it up. This can be helpful if you are in a Slayer game, and need some help. 3.iv.d: Prisoner ---------------- Description: "Get on top 2-8 players" Common Gametypes: King of the Hill Slayer Oddball Comments: This map has multiple floors. When playing King of the Hill, the Hill will usually be on the very top level, and you will need to climb multiple ramps and ladders, and cross bridges to get to it. In the center of the map, there is a pointy structure that extends from the bottom floor straight up to the second floor. Below it, on the bottom floor, is a power up, and on the top is a Rocket Launcher, but you will need to jump from a balcony on the second floor to get to it. This map is pretty fun. 3.iv.e: Hang 'em High --------------------- Description: "Tombstones for Everybody 4-16 players" Common Gametypes: Slayer Capture the Flag Comments: This is a medium sized map with multiple floors. On the bottom floor, in the corners, there seem to be randomly placed "blocks", that can provide cover from the enemies. There are also two roofed structures that usually have Sniper Rifles inside of them. There are two towers, where the Flags will spawn in CTF, and a few ramps that lead out into the top-middle of the level. On the ramps, you can find Rocket Launchers and power ups. 3.iv.f: Chill Out ----------------- Description: "Dude, you really need to... 2-8 players" Common Gametypes: Slayer Comments: Winding paths, multiple rooms, fun. 3.iv.g: Chiron TL34 ------------------- Description: "Spartan Clone Training Complex 2-6 players" Common Gametypes: Slayer Oddball Comments: This is the standard teleporter maze. Small rooms with lots of teleporters make it hard to find your way around, and not many people play in this map. 3.iv.h: Longest --------------- Description: "A long walk down a short hall... 2-8 players" Common Gametypes: Slayer Capture the Flag Oddball Comments: A long map with narrow halls. In the corners, ramps lead up to the second floor, where the power ups can be found. 3.iv.i: Wizard -------------- Description: "Round and Round and Round 2-8 players" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag Slayer Comments: There are a few teleporters around the outside of the level. The platform in middle of the level usually has the Rocket Launcher on it. On the platforms in the corners are the flags and some powerups. 3.iv.j: Derelict ---------------- Description: "Deep-Space Anomaly #0198 4-8 players" Common Gametypes: King of the Hill Slayer Comments: This level is a medium sized, round level with two floors. Teleporters lead between the two floors. 3.iv.k: Boarding Action ----------------------- Description: "Ship-to-Ship Combat 4-16 players" Common Gametypes: Slayer Comments: This is a large, messed up map. There are two ships, each with five floors. Some teleporters lead between them. This level is best for sniping people on the other ship. 3.iv.l: Blood Gulch ------------------- Description: "The Quick and the Dead 4-16 players Supports vehicles" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag Slayer Races King of the Hill Comments: Two bases with a big, open field between them. On the roof of the bases are Banshees and Sniper Rifles. There are also multiple vehicles around the outside of the bases. In the center, on a hill, are a Rocket Launcher, a Fuel Rod Cannon, and power ups. On the sides are high caves good for sniping. 3.iv.m: Sidewinder ------------------ Description: "Red Blood White Snow 4-16 players Supports vehicles" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag Races Comments: A big level with snow and stuff. There are teleporters on the second floor of each base, that will lead to cliffs around the level, and eventually, to the enemys base. There are also caves in between the bases, that serve as a link between them. Both power ups can be found in these caves. 3.iv.n: Timberland ------------------ Description: "An Enemy Behind Every Tree 4-16 players Supports vehicles" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag King of the Hill Oddball Comments: This is a big field, with lots of hills, and trees. Weapons and power ups are scattered around. 3.iv.o: Danger Canyon --------------------- Description: "Don't Look Down... Unless You Fall 4-16 players Supports vehicles" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag Comments: Big level. =/ 3.iv.p: Ice Fields ------------------ Description: "Slipping and Sliding 4-16 players Supports vehicles" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag Comments: Pretty much the same as Danger Canyon. The teleporters lead to an area overlooking a Fuel Rod Cannon, and there is a big bridge above that which has another Fuel Rod. 3.iv.q: Death Island -------------------- Description: "Sand, Surf, and Spent Shells 4-16 players Supports vehicles" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag King of the Hill Races Comments: A round island, similar to the single player level, The Silent Cartographer. Teleporters in the bases lead to the Banshees, and the Shades. The power ups, Fuel Rod Cannon, and Rocket Launcher can all be found around a structure in the center of the island. 3.iv.r: Gephyrophobia --------------------- Description: "Scary, huh? 2-16 players Supports vehicles" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag King of the Hill Comments: A big level with a massive, two story bridge leading between the two bases. The Banshees are around the outside of the level, and you need to use one of the two teleporters inside the base to get to them. When travelling to the other base without a Banshee, it is best to use the bottom floor, since it is harder for the Banshees to get to you. There is also a very good sniping area on the tower in the center of the level, but it requires a Banshee to get there, and it is susceptible to attacks from opposing Banshees. Be careful not to fall off the bridge. 3.iv.s: Infinity ---------------- Description: "I Imagined it Would Be Bigger 4-16 players Supports vehicles" Common Gametypes: Capture the Flag Comments: A bigger version of Danger Canyon. Each base consists of a giant tower, which holds the Bansees on the top level, along with Sniper Rifles. The lower floor has a Shade with a perfect view of the flag, which is located on its own platform near the base. Behind the base are two teleporters that lead around the level. It is possible to get to the very top of the level (apparently a glitch), by flying your Banshee to the top, then backing it up along a slope overlooking the whole base area, and getting out, although it will probably result in you falling and being squashed by your Banshee, which lands on top of you. /-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-\ | 3.V Game Types | \-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-/ 3.v.a: Slayer Games ------------------- 1. Team Play --------- One of the things that I have rarely seen while playing Halo online is the team members working together to win. Usually, in a game such as Capture the Flag, everyone runs to the Banshees when the game starts, killing eachother to get there. Finally, when someone gets into a Banshee, they run over all of the other people on there team that were trying to get it, then fly to the other teams base and attempt to get the flag. The players who didn't get the Banshee all hop into their own vehicles and speed off to the other teams base in hopes that the flag is still there for grabbing. I can see the cause of this: whoever successfully returns the flag gets a point, which moves them higher up on the scoreboard, despite all kills and deaths. I have rarely seen orginization amongst the teams. This may be caused by the lack of ability to easily communicate with the other members of the team, because a lot of people think that actually typing a message is a bother, and it can be, but I think it would be nice for teams to actually work together and coordinate an effective strategy. I wish that Bungie and Gearbox had added a better way to communicate, such as voice chat, because it would make the game a lot better. It is too bad that a lot of the gamers online will not take the time to send a useful message. Come on, people! It won't kill you. =/ Think of how much more fun the game would be if the players would work together! The most cooperation I have seen in Halo online is maybe a when a few people get in a Warthog and drive to the enemies base together. One of the things that would improve with Team Play, would be the usefulness of the Shade. Currently, it has almost no use in Multiplayer, because it is such an easy target for Banshees, but if team mates would team up to fight a Banshee, the Shade would be a lot more useful. Every player on Halo has their own strengths and weaknesses, and it would be nice to see them come out. I would like to see team mates support eachother a bit better, as well. It seems that every player is only concerned with boosting their own scores that they will not help their team mates. Sure, having a good score is nice, but people take it too seriously, and everyone is trying to go solo, or even turning on their teams to get a better score. For example, one time while playing a game of Capture the Flag, I had successfully captured the enemys flag, and was returning it to my base, and there was another player on my team following me. I thought he was going to escort me back to my base, but when I got near it, he killed me, took the flag into the base, and got the point. I find this quite annoying, and decided to try to return the favor by making the rest of the game hell for him, but was banned for TKing. =/ I reccommend that you try to talk with your team mates, and work with them, instead of against them. The focus is not to get the highest score, it is to help your team win. Team Killing ------------ Team Killing, also known as TKing, is when you kill a member of your team(duh). Sometimes, this can be an accident, if you thought that they were on the opposing team for some reason, or if they got in the way of your vehicle. If you TK someone by accident, it is recommended that you apologize to them(press T or Y and say something like "Sorry"). This way, they will know it was an accident, and will not hold as much hatred towards you. Other times, people kill their team mates on purpose, for fun, or to gain something. The most often times this occurs is the mad rush for the Banshees at the beginning of a match. I don't suggest you TK, as it will cause your team mates to get angry, and perhaps come after you, or make a big deal about it on chat. You may even get banned from a server. At times when you seem tempted to kill a team member, don't. If one of your team mates kills you on purpose, you may feel tempted to go after them. It is your decision, but I don't reccommend it because it will usually start a rivalry, and you will be spending the rest of the game killing eachother, rather than trying to win. If they TK you multiple times, and you haven't attacked back, then you can bring it up with the other players. Most of the time, your team mates won't care, unless it somehow affects them, but it can help, sometimes. It may not seem very smart to whine, as it could get you flamed, but if there is nothing you can do to stop the TKer, and you would like to get back to the game, it can be a good idea to get support from your team mates. If your game has gone all to hell, and no one is doing anything to help, you can just leave. Sure, some of the players will hold opinions about you, and may laugh, but if your game is being ruined, then it is probably the best thing you can do. And besides, they probably won't remember it, anyways. Specific Level Stratagies ------------------------- Battle Creek - Slayer: + One of the easies and quickest ways to increase your kills in Battle Creek is to get the Sniper Rifle and Rocket Launcher, and shoot people down from on top of the arch. If you have good aim, and can kill people in few hits, your score will go up very quickly. Watch out that no one tries to get up onto the arch and kill you, stealing your weapons and sniping location. This works best if you have Active Camo, because enemies below will have a hard time spotting you when your are standing still, so you will be able to live longer. You will not be invincible, however, and it is tough to dodge enemy fire without falling off on such a narrow bridge. Rat Race - Capture the Flag: + A nice way to get the flag in Rat Race is to run into the caves, go to the hole where the Active Camo is(hopefully it is overlooking the enemy flag), drop a few grenades down if there are baddies below, jump down and grab the Camo, get the flag, and stealthily move your way back to your base. Rat Race - Any Game:
+ You can get the Power-Ups even if you are not in the caves, by going to the
hole below them, looking up, and shooting the Power-Up until it falls down
to your location.
Hang 'em High - Any Game:
+ To get one of the items that is on a bridge, such as the Rocket Launcher or
the Power-Ups, just throw a grenade onto the bridge near the item, and the
explosion will (hopefully) push it off the bridge so that you can grab it.
Of course, you will need to know exactly where the item you want is located,
and get the grenade planted in exactly the right location.
Chill Out - Any Game:
+ To get the Rocket Launcher in Chill out, without needing to jump across the
room that it is in onto the "T" shaped structure, you can throw a grenade up
there from the ground or stair, which will cause it to fall down.
Damnation - Any Game:
+ To get the Power-Up located on a bridge above a corridor, you can just
shoot it down from the corridor.
Wizard/Derelict - King of the Hill:
+ When playing King of the Hill in either Wizard or Derelict, you can stay on
the hill without getting blown apart by your opponents by standing on the
small ledges on the outside of the hill platform - behind one of the four
pillars. You are, however, prone to attackers who are walking around the
outside of the hill.
Boarding Action - Any Game:
+ If you are really skilled with the Grenade Jumping trick(dropping multiple
grenades, then jumping and using the explosion to propel your jump without
getting blown up in the process), you can jump from one ship to the other,
and even get on the top of one of the ships!
Blood Gulch - Slayer:
+ Grab the Sniper Rifle on the roof of your base, then run to the high up
cave to the side of the base, and snipe off players from there. You can also
use the Pistol(or any weapon, for that matter) to snipe, and there is even
some Pistol ammo located in the caves! You aren't immune to attackers,
though.
+ Another strategy is to grab a Rocket Warthog up the hill behind one of the
bases, then hop onto the gunner seat and shoot people from the top of the
hill. Your opponents will have a hard time shooting you from there, and they
won't be able to get closer if you can help it. Just don't get caught
reloading when an enemy is coming closer, and watch out for players with
Rocket Launchers.
Blood Gulch - Capture the Flag:
+ Hop in a Warthog, preferably with some allies, and drive to the opposing
base. Drive your Warthog directly into the door of the enemy base, and park
it in the hall. Hop out and grab the flag, and if you have a friend with you,
have them blow up any baddies that try to stop you. Once you have the flag,
hop back into the 'Hog and drive it back to your base.
Sidewinder/Timberland - Capture the Flag:
+ Hop in a Warthog(preferably a Rocket Warthog), and drive it into the back
of your base. Hop into the gunners seat, and blow up any enemies that come
for your flag. Just watch out for grenades.
Sidewinder - Capture the Flag:
+ Even though you can't fit through the bars in the caves between bases, a
flag can! If you have the flag and are being chased, you can toss the flag
through the bars, and out of your enemies reach. If you get killed, you can
go and get it as soon as you respawn, or tell one of your allies to get it
for you.
Timberland - Capture the Flag:
+ When the game starts, hop in a Ghost and zoom off to where the Fuel Rod
Cannon is(in the corner of the map), grab it, then fly to where the Active
Camo is(should be near a rock, between the Fuel Rod and the enemies base),
and pick that up as well. Fly closer to the enemies base, park your Ghost
when you get closer, get to a good view of the base, and blow up any enemies
in the area, then sneak into the base, grab the flag, return to your Ghost,
and bring home the flag.
Death Island - Any Game:
+ Drive a Scorpion out into the ocean in front of your base, and shoot any
enemies that apporach.
+ One way to get a good sniping location is to go through the Banshee
teleporter pad, grab the Sniper Rifle, go along the cliff edge until you find
a tall tree that is close to the cliff, and jump from the cliff onto the top
branches of the tree. Believe it or not, you can stand on the branches!
Death Island - Capture the Flag:
+ Hop in a vehicle, drive halfway around the island to the passage
leading to the interior of the island, grab the Active Camo hidden between
two boulders in a cave, grab the Rocket Launcher, Overshield, and Fuel Rod
around the structure in the center of the island, then go to your enemies
base and unleash hell to get the flag.
Gephyrophobia - Capture the Flag:
+ Go to the lower bridge, hop in a Ghost, and fly to your enemies base and
get the flag. The lower bridge has much better protection against Banshees,
since it is harder for them to get down there.
+ In turn with this, if you are in a Banshee, you should keep an eye out on
the lower tunnels, in case somebody tries to make a run for your base down
there.
Gephyrophobia - Any Game:
+ Go through one of the teleporters, grab the Sniper Rifle, then hop in a
Banshee. Fly to the tall structure in the center of the level, and hop out,
being careful not to fall off. You should probably let your Banshee fall off
the edge, because it will give your location away to enemy Banshees. The
only thing that can stop you is a Banshee, but you will be hard to see, and
you should try not to give yourself away. The only problem is that it is
impossible to get down without dying.
Infinity - Capture the Flag:
+ An easy way to defend your flag is to hop on the Shade and direct a steady
stream of fire onto the flag area, killing any enemy that tries to get near.
Infinity - Any Game:
+ In a Banshee, you can fly up to the tall cliff behind your flag area, go to
the top, and using the hover feature, get on the top of the cliff, and the
top of the level! Personally I have never done it before, so I don't know
the specifics, but I have seen it done before. Most of the time, when I
try and see others trying, they usually end up falling out of their Banshee,
plummeting to their deaths, and having their prescious vehicle fall on them.
Specific Game Type Stratagies
-----------------------------
Capture the Flag:
+ One of the best(and cheapest) ways to defend your base is to drive a
Warthog or Rocket Warthog into the interior of your base, and then hop into
the gunners seat and kill any of the enemies that comes into the base.
+ Another way of doing the trick above is to just stand in your base with
a Rocket Launcher, Flamethrower, or Sniper Rifle, get a good view of the
flag, and blow up the enemy whenever they get near.
+ While in a Banshee, you can quickly fly to the enemies base and get the
flag. If successful, you pretty much have a clean ride home. It is
recommended that you clean the enemy base and surrounding area of baddies
before going in, just to be safe.
+ It is always recommended that you travel with friends when in a vehicle
headed to the enemy base, because if you die when near the flag, your friends
will be their to try and finish the job.
+ While holding the flag, your enemies will target you to try and get the
flag back, but if you are driving a vehicle, the flag is no longer visible,
making you less of a target.
Slayer:
+ One of your best tools is stealth. If you see an enemy, and he hasn't seen
you, don't go in with guns blazing and give yourself away! Sneak up behind
him and slap some sense into the back of his head for not being more careful!
+ Grenades are your best friend! If your enemy is near, strap a Plasma
Grenade to him and let him run around helplessly before going boom. If
you want to maintain stealth, drop a Frag Grenade beside him and he probably
won't notice it until it is too late.
+ Always stay on the move, unless you are sniping! Moving targets are harder
to hit than still targets.
+ When sniping, chose a good, high location, that will make you hard to see,
give you a good view of your enemies, and quick access to more ammo. You will
be a much more efficient sniper if you can hit moving enemies, as well.
+ Always pick up Health Packs and other Power-Ups! Even if you have 99%
health, pick up a Health Pack! In Slayer games, you will always be on the
move, and if you don't pick up a Power-Up, someone else will!
+ When in a vehicle, it is easier to run down your enemies. Weapons will take
a while to whittle down the enemies shields, but running them down in a
vehicle will make them roadkill instantly!
+ Switch weapons and ammo often! If your weapon is nearing low ammo, swap it!
King of the Hill:
+ When on the hill, you should either try to stay out of sight from enemies,
or keep an eye on everything around you, and kill it!
+ When trying to clear the hill of enemies, you should try to cover the whole
hill in destruction, with weapons like the Fuel Rod Cannon, or grenades.
Oddball:
+ With the ball, don't bother hiding, because you probably have a Nav Point
on you.
+ When heading for the guy with the ball, kill any other opponents that you
run into! They will just become problems later, so get them out of the way
now and save yourself some trouble.

Note: If you have a questions, E-Mail me at Duo_Maxwell1889@hotmail.com
and I may respond to it...
Q: How do I chat with other players?
A: To chat with all of the players on the server, press "T" and type
your message, then hit enter. To chat will all of your team mates,
press "Y", type your message, and press enter. For all of the people
in the same vehicle as you, the magic key is "H".
Q: A certain player is giving me trouble. Can I boot or ban him?
A: Players can not boot or ban other players unless the server they
are playing on was created by them. If, however, you are running
your own server, and wish to boot or ban a player, there are commands
to do that. Look around and I'm sure you will find them.
Q: All of the servers I have played on have lots of lag!
A: Some servers are being hosted on computers with poor specs or bad
internet connections, so they may have lag. If you are looking for
servers with less lag, I reccommend that you go for the Bungie servers.
Look for "Bungie-CTF", "Bungie-Slayer", and "Bungie-Small" servers on
the server list.
Q: Do you want to join my team and help me fight and be the best players
online?!
A: No. I don't want to join your team, and besides, I am not even really that
good at the game, so I would just slow your team down. =/
Q: I tried your strategys and got killed! Why didn't they work!?
A: These strategys are not guarenteed to work. They are just meant to be
tips that you can try, that will hopefully improve your chances of
winning.
Q: Everything in Halo is always jumpy and slow! Help!
A: This problem could be caused by your Graphics Card. Halo requires a good
Graphics Card to run, so older systems may have problems while running it.
If you have some extra money, you should go out and buy a better graphics
card(thats what I had to do). A less expensive alternitive to this is to
lower the settings for Halo. In the Options menu, go into Video Settings
and turn down the settings. You can also change the Pixel Shader that Halo
uses to a Fixed Function shader, or Version 1.1, which may also help.
If you have a good Video Card already, the problem could be caused by your
other hardware. You might want to invest money to upgrade your computer,
or buy a new one.
Q: Whenever I see players using an Active Camo, they turn into a big block
instead of being invisible. How do I fix this?
A: Again, this is probably because of your Video Card. You are either using
the Fixed Function Pixel Shader, or your GPU doesn't support DirectX 9.
Q: How do I beat level [X] of Campaign mode!?
A: Don't ask me. I am not here to help with Single Player mode. There are
plenty of guides online for Single Player mode, and even some Guide Books.
Q: Can I put your guide on my site?
A: No.
