INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to the VGA remake of 'Police Quest 1' for the PC, an adventure game by Sierra released in 1992. It was also included in the Police Quest Collection released in 1995. The walkthrough for this game is complete and includes a complete point list. BASICS G0200 =============================================================================== You control Bonds with the mouse. Cycle through the commands with the right mouse button or use the menu at the top of the screen that auto-hides. F1 = Menu F2 = Sound Toggle F5 = Save F7 = Load F9 = Restart CTRL+Q = Quit The number in the ()s is the amount of points you get during the game and the amount you should have at this point if you are following the walkthrough exactly. The points are listed again in the point list for a quick overview. There are serious timing errors in this game if you are playing on a modern PC so try using an emulator such as DOSBox, play on an older PC (486) or better yet find the unofficial SCI fixes that will sort out most problems. If none of the above are an option for you it might make the game unplayable at certain points. I still had problems getting the poker game to work, you can skip this and just miss out on some points instead. =============================================================================== 03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300 =============================================================================== ___Lytton PD___ --------- When you start, go right into the next screen into the locker room. Open the locker with the right combination; 269 (1, 1). Take the towel (2, 3) and walk into the shower. Return to your locker and wear the uniform (1, 4). Also take the nightstick (1, 5), notebook (1, 6) and the corvette keys (1, 7). Back in hallway pick up a radio (2, 9) and a patrol car key (1, 10). Go into the northern door to attend the meeting. Read the newspaper and sit down at the desk. Afterwards you want to look inside your pigeonhole and pick up the note (1, 11). Go all the way outside the PD and walk around your car to check it for safety (5, 16). ___Driving___ ------- The tutorial will teach you about the new driving system of PQ1. Get familiar with this because you will drive around a lot. Use the eye icon on a city block for the information of the building. If you happen to crash you will restart on the same position so don't worry too much - no game overs. Soon you will get a message about a car crash so get to the location at 11-80 on Fig Street between 4th and 3rd. Pay attention to the street names and you should figure out the street numbers. ___Car Crash___ --------- After you arrive (3, 19) look at the driver and check for a pulse. Use your radio to call in the situation and talk to the people in the crowd. Talk to the young man for a licence plate. Radio in the number (5, 24) and leave once Dooley has arrived and taken over the accident. ___Caffeine Carol's___ ---------------- Drive around until you get a message to get to Caffeine Carol's. When you arrive (3, 27) go inside, sit down and talk to Steve. After a while the phone will ring for you so answer it after Carol gives you the go-ahead (2, 29). Sit and talk to Steve some more and then leave. ___Speeding Driver___ --------------- Drive around until a car overtakes you at high speed. Turn on the siren (the red button near the steering wheel in case you haven't found out yet!) and pull over the speeding car (4, 33). While still inside the car, look at the pulled over vehicle and call dispatch about the license plate (1, 34). Now get out of the car and look at the lady. Talk to her and use the pen on the ticket book in your inventory. Hand over the ticket (5, 39) and select 'Ticket' when given the choice. Return to the car and drive off. ___Caffeine Carol's & Wino Willy's___ ------------------------------- Wait for a call to get to Caffeine Carol's and drive there. Get out and check out the bikes. Talk to Carol inside (3, 42) and then go outside and into the alley. Inside Wino Willy's, talk to the bikers and use the nightstick on the biker in front of you (5, 47) to resolve the situation. Finally, chat with Marie over at the jukebox for some vital information (3, 50). Leave and drive off. ___Drunk Driver___ ------------ After a while a car will drive past in a suspicious way. The driver is obviously drunk so turn on the siren again and pull him over (3, 53). Look at the car and run the license plate through the radio (1, 54). Now get out and walk over. Look at the man and talk three times to give him the sobriety test (3, 57). Read him his rights, then cuff him and say 'No' to his request. Open the backdoor of the police car and sit in front. ___County Jail___ ----------- The jail is near the PD and next to the courthouse (2, 59). Exit the car and open the lockers. Use the empty one to store your gun. Press the buzzer near the door to get inside. Speak to the jailer and you will need to enter the codes for charges against the man. You want to charge him with 13301 - Failure to stop for a stop sign (1, 60) 21490 - Failure to stop for a red light (1, 61) 21603 - Driving under the influence of intoxicants (1, 62) 29211 - Reckless driving (1, 63) 44729 - Not in full control of faculties (1, 64) 26504 - Exceeding the maximum speed limit (1, 65) Press Enter when you are done and ask the man to move. Take off his handcuffs (2, 67) and watch the scene. Leave the jail, retrieve your gun from the locker and get into the squad car. ___Lytton PD___ --------- You'll get called back to the PD soon so you might as well head there now. (3, 70) In the entrance hall click on the memo box to fill in a transfer request (2, 72) and then continue on to the hallway. After the short scene, go to your locker and change into the street clothes. Take the car key too. Return the patrol car keys to the board and also the radio extender. Leave the department and drive off with the blue Corvette. ___Blue Room___ --------- Drive northeast and enter the Blue Room (2, 74). Sit at the table and talk to Jack. After the scenes you can leave (2, 76). Return to the station again. ___Lytton PD___ --------- Back at the PD (1, 77), change into the uniform and take the nightstick, the ticket book, radio extender and the patrol keys. Attend the meeting in progress and return to the car park. Walk around the patrol car for a safety check and drive off. ___Stolen Car___ ---------- Soon you'll get a dispatch about a domestic disturbance at the corner of 1st & Lilly. Cross this junction SOUTHBOUND and stop at the sign. You'll get another dispatch about a stolen car and it will just drive past you. Immediately switch on your siren to pull the car over (5, 82). Look at the car to get the licence plate and run it through the radio. Then use the radio again to call for backup (5, 87). Wait for the other police car to pull up and when you get the call by your backup, open the door and pull your gun. Speak to the man in the stolen vehicle so that he gets out (2, 89). Quickly shout Halt! (2, 91) and finally tell him to lie on the ground (2, 93). Cuff the man (2, 95) and read him his rights when he's in the car (1, 96). Go over to the stolen car and click on the door. Click on the paint to scratch it off (6, 101). Click inside the car to get in and look inside the glove box compartment (5, 106). Check out the black book and the licenses. Push the small button to pop up the trunk. Leave this view and open the trunk. Look at the drugs (2, 108). Finally you can drive to the county jail. __County Jail___ ----------- Exit the car and lock up your gun. Push the buzzer and talk to the jailer inside. Charge Hoffman with 00308 - Resisting arrest (1, 109) 12876 - Possession of a controlled substance (1, 110) 12509 - Possession of concealed weapon (1, 111) 19221 - Stolen vehicle (1, 112) Tell Hoffman to walk towards the middle of the room and remove his handcuffs. Return to the PD, don't forget to take your gun from the locker though. ___Lytton PD___ --------- Go inside Dooley's office and pick up the memo on his desk. Read it and you have been transferred to narcotics for now. Return the squad car keys in the hallway and change into your street clothes in the locker room. Return to the first screen and push the elevator button. Open the first door and talk to Morgan. Then go left in the 2nd floor hallway and enter the narcotics office; your new office. After Laura has given you the inside scoop of the place, open the lower middle drawer and take the Hoffman file with you (2, 114). Leave the office and go down the elevator. The only place we haven't visited inside the department is the evidence locker which is through the door next to the memo board. Hand over the Hoffman file and then take the gun. Note down its serial number and return to your office. Use your computer, click on 'Weapons' and enter the 5-digit number you just got from the gun. Note down the FBI case number it spills out and Quit this screen. Now click on 'FBI' and enter the case number to get all the information on Jason Taselli. Print this and pick up the printout (5, 119). Also grab a set of unmarked car keys (3, 122) and use it down in the parking lot. ___Courthouse___ ---------- Go inside the courthouse (1, 123) and talk to the clerk three times to get permission to speak to the judge. Enter the courtroom and talk to the judge about the situation. When asked, hand over the file to the bailiff (5, 128) and you will receive a no bail warrant (2, 130). ___County Jail___ ----------- At the county jail, buzz in and present the no bail warrant to the jailer (2, 132). Get back to your car and you'll automatically be back at the police department and be joined by Laura. ___Bert's Park___ ----------- Drive to Bert's Park on the east side of town. Go north and hide behind the bushes near the lake (6, 138). Draw your gun, radio Laura and wait for both men to arrive. As soon the deal is finished you should walk out and catch Simms. Read him his rights (1, 139) and cuff him (1, 140). Finally search Simms for some cocaine (1, 141). Talk to Simms again in front of Colby to get some more information (2, 143). Drive to the county jail. ___County Jail___ ----------- Put your gun into the locker and buzz in. Charge both men for 12876 - Possession of a controlled substance 12755 - Possession of cocaine (1, 144) Make them move into the middle of the room and uncuff them. Take your gun from the locker and drive to the Blue Room. ___Blue Room___ --------- Just go inside and join Jack. Talk to him until Keith comes in and tells you the bad news. Drive to the station. ___Lytton PD___ --------- Talk to Morgan in his office on the upper floor and then go down into the evidence room. Hand the Hoffman file to Russ and check out the black books. Then return to Morgan's office who will ask you to seek out Marie at the jail. ___County Jail___ ----------- Push the buzzer and talk to Marie (5, 149). Drive towards the Cotton Cove as you will receive a radio dispatch shortly. ___Cotton Cove___ ----------- After you arrive (10, 159), talk to the officers and look under the sheet. Look at the corpse and mention your findings to the officers. You can now drive back to the station. ___Lytton PD___ --------- Go up to Morgan's office and watch the scene. In the locker room, take the towel from the locker and walk into the shower. Wear the suit and return to Morgan's office. Take the unmarked car to the Hotel Delphoria which is in the upper left city block. ___Hotel Delphoria___ --------------- Arrive here (10, 169) and walk through the entrance. Ring the bell on the counter for a room. Through the northern archway is the bar. Talk to the bartender and then Marie. Talk to the bartender once more. When Marie has left chat with Alex about poker (2, 171). You'll soon end up in your room. Talk to Marie and pick up the phone on the nightstand to call Morgan on 555-3784 (7, 178). Then call 411 and note down the phone number of the taxi company. Call the cab company for Marie. Make your way down the elevator and into the bar. Ask the bartender about the game and pay her the fee. Watch the scenes and sit down at the poker table. You can now chose to play yourself and win (15, 193) or just click on winning automatically (no points) or lose automatically (don't pick this). Return to your room and call Morgan on 555-3784 and wait for the backup to arrive and give you the pen and more money. In the bar, talk to Alex and you end up in the second poker game. As before you have the choice to play yourself (15, 208) or win automatically. Walk into the elevator and watch the conversation with Frank. When he leaves to take the phone call, look at the phone the bar (5, 213) and report the info via the pen (12, 225) so that backup arrives. Used for notifying your troops on your location later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EXTENDER This is your radio used to call dispatch frequently throughout the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HAIR DYE Given to you by Laura to dye your hair for your undercover mission. Applied while having a shower. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HANDCUFFS Part of your daily uniform and thus found in your locker. As if you did not know already, these are used to cuff criminals. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOFFMAN FILE Filed in the narcotics office. It is vital to show to Russ and the bailiff to continue the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOTEL ROOM KEY Received at the lobby in the hotel. Naturally, opens up the door to your hotel room. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NIGHTSTICK Part of your daily uniform and thus found in your locker. Mainly used to write tickets. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SERVICE REVOLVER Part of your daily uniform and thus found in your locker. Used to apprehend criminals in dangerous situations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TICKET A temporary item that is made out to the speeding lady. It comes from the ticket book and is written with the pen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TICKET BOOK Inside the briefcase found inside the locker at the station. Filled in when you have to write a ticket to someone who broke the law in any way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOWEL Briefly used for showering purposes at the station's changing room. Found inside the locker. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNDERCOVER CAR KEYS Enables you to drive the undercover car from the narcotics division.
