General Information ----------------------------------------------------------- This is a walkthrough for the game called "Maestro: Dark Talent". The game was released in September, 2014. It is the fourth and final game in the Maestro series. To contact me about this guide, send me a message via GameFAQs or @arglefumph on Twitter. Video Walkthrough ----------------------------------------------------------- Do you want to see a video of how to beat the game, rather than read how to do it? You're in luck! Walkthrough ----------------------------------------------------------- Start the game by pressing "Play". You get to determine which difficulty level you'll play at. You can switch difficulties at any time, though the options menu. 003a. The Knowing One ----------------------------------------------------------- After a spooky scene, the game begins with the Master Detective (that's you!) getting a letter from a friend named Kate. The plan is to go to the opera with Kate. How nice! Talk to the guard here, then go forward. You talk with Kate, and she gets captured by evil vines. That's NOT nice! A man waves at you from a gate. Go through the gate and talk to him. This man is one of the "Knowing Ones". He has a medallion which should stop the evil forces at work. He gets attacked by a ghost, so you get a chance to see the medallion in action! Put the pieces together, then use it on the ghost to destroy it. Talk to the Knowing One. He says Diva is going to put the audience in a trance. You have to try to stop her before that happens! He gives you a key, then collapses from a wound. Go back two screens. See the suitcase on the right? Take the rake from it, and use the key to open it. Once the case is open, take the glass cutter and the paper. Open the first aid box and squeeze the tube for a bandage. Back away from the suitcase, then zoom in on the fence to the left. Use the rake on the leaves here for an apple. Go forward twice, to the Knowing One. Use the bandage on him. He gives you some gems to power the medallion. Look at the ferret in the cage. Give it the apple, and you get a sun. Go back a screen. Use the sun on the statue and rotate it for chip halves. Use the chip halves on the area in the middle of the screen for a puzzle. You want to rotate and swap chip halves until all of them are in place. There is a skip button, in case you want to skip this puzzle. Solving the puzzle gets you a gear. Go back to the Knowing One. Use the gear on the cellar doors for a hidden objects challenge. In this challenge, you want to find and use items. For example, find the top hat. Use it on the gentleman for a brush. Use the magnet on the flask for a metal piece. Use the brush and can opener on the can of paint for red paint, then use it on the cat for a fan. Use the fan on the lady for a picture. Use the picture on the frame for a puzzle. Use the metal piece on the puzzle to start it. The goal of the puzzle is to move pieces around, until each one is in the correct spot. Solving the puzzle gives you cane pieces. Look at the cane pieces in your inventory. Put them together for a can. Go back several screens, to the first screen of the game. Look at the fence to the left, and use the cane on the box for bells and a ball. Go forward. The guard locks the gate, but the ferret distracts him. Use the ball on the ferret for the keys. Use the keys on the gate, so you can return to the Knowing One. Put the bells on the statue here, then turn the crank to get rid of the birds. This gives you a metal pattern. Go back twice. Use the metal pattern on the memorial in the center/left. Press all six metal pieces in the correct order. The one with one circle is first, followed by the one with two circles, the one with three circles, and so on. This gives you a chest. Use the glass cutter on the chest for gems. Use the gems on the medallion, and use the medallion on the front door of the opera house, so you can go inside and save Kate! 003b. The Opera House ----------------------------------------------------------- Talk to Kate. She is quickly captured again, and this time, two ghosts are here. You'll have to have two sets of gems in order to follow her. Take the purple curtain from the lower/right for a hidden objects challenge. Solve it for a chain. Then go through the left door to the backstage room. Look at the door to see a villain other than Diva doing villainous things. Look on top of the cabinet to the left. Take the opera house magnet and look at the paper for a combination. Use the cane on the trunk to pull it down, then flip the latches according to the combination. This gives you a shield. Go back a screen. Put the shield on the shield to the left. Click the inner part of the shield to rotate, then click on the swords to move them. You want to put the swords in the middle of the shields on the left for a key. Go to the backstage area. Open the door with the key and go forward to a new screen. Let's tackle this screen from left to right. On the left wall, take the pearls. Go back a screen and use the pearls on the drum for a gramophone needle. Return backstage. Knock over the chair on the left for a hidden objects challenge, which gets you a clock. Zoom in on the scenery in the center/left. Pull all the levers and the sun to get a face emblem. On the right side of the room, take the flute from the man. Move the steps so you can reach the gramophone. Take the lamp, then put the needle in place and turn the crank for a door figure. Use the opera house magnet on the cabinet on the right to open it. You get a puzzle scene, where you have to use items on other items on the screen. For example, you put the spotlights in place and rotate them. Solving the puzzle gets you ink. Use the ink on your paper for a drawing. That's it for this room for now, so go back a screen. Put the face emblem on the cabinet to the right for a door emblem and a screwdriver. Use the screwdriver on the clock so you can get the gems. Put the gems in your medallion. Go back a screen. Use the door figures on the door to the right. Click on both figures to open the door. Go through it. The Knowing One is attacked by curtains here. Use the medallion on the curtains to free him. Look at the statue. Use the chain on it, then click the chain to attach it to the winch on the wall. Use it, and the statue is knocked over. Take the gems from the statue, then use the lamp here to notice a small symbol. Open the cabinet on the right and take the things inside. It's the small symbol and a small statue. Use the paper on the statue and pose it, so it matches the drawing on the paper. This gives you a button. Use the symbol on the left for gems, a drumstick and scissors. Go back a screen. See the relief of people playing instruments on the right? Use the flute and drumsticks on the relief. Click on both those musical instruments to get music chips. Go through the right door. Use the music chips on the base of the statue for a puzzle. The goal is to move the pieces around so they match the background. Solving the puzzle gets you a chest. Put the button on the chest and press all five buttons in the correct order for gems. Put all your gems on the medallion. Go back a screen and use the medallion on the ghosts. You can finally go upstairs, into the opera hall. Oh no, you're too late! Diva took Kate and entranced the audience. Look at Kate's family. Take the letter from her husband. The letter is from Kate's father, and he appears to know something! Use the scissors on the bag here, for a smaller bag. Unzip it, for the key to Kate's father's house. This will be our next main destination. Pull back the curtain here. Take the horse and rip the chair up. Return to the backstage area for a hidden objects challenge. Solving it gets you a bird. Zoom in on the display to the left. Use the horse here for a jigsaw puzzle. Solving it gives you a metal tile and a mechanical chest. Return to the stage. Zoom in on the display in front of the stage. Use the bird here and swap the bird wings, so all the colors match. This gives you a metal tile. Go back once and through the left door. Use the tiles on the locked dresser. Move the pieces around to open the door. This gives you a wrench. Back to the stage, use the wrench on the chair for a circle. Go back once and solve the hidden objects challenge for a circle. Go through the right door. See the door on the left? Use the circle on the door. Rotate the rings to form a picture. The door opens, giving you access to the next section of the game. Hooray, we're done with the opera house! 003c. The Garden ----------------------------------------------------------- We're outside, in the garden area! If you go forward twice, you'll see Diva. Talk to her and she leaves, while blocking the way to Kate's father. She also covers it with ghost vines. Oh no! Well, let's do what we can! Take the matches from the box that is right of the gate. Look at the cart. Take the spokes and the rim, then go back a screen. Click on the ferret. It destroys a pot. Go through the pot remains for a gear. Look at the plate on the ground, in the corner, by the statue. Take the hub from it. Put the spokes and rim on the hub for a wheel. Go back a screen again. Use the matches on the vines by the gate for puzzle pieces. Pick up the stones on the walkway for a knight. Go forward. Use the knight on the display by the gate. There sure are a lot of gates here, huh? This gives you an oil can and a gear. Go forward again. Zoom in on the box by the gate. Use the oil can on the chains for another piano key. Go back twice. Use both piano keys on the piano for a metal rose. Go forward. Use the rose on the gate to get access to a new area. Go into the park here. Open the case on the bench for a hidden objects challenge. Solve it for a bridle. Take the basket here. Look at the plant-covered area in the back. Pull the plants away to see apples. Put the basket down, then move the apples into the basket. You get a basket of apples. Go back to the horse. Use the wheel on the cart, then use the bridle on the horse. Put the apples on the ground, and the horse goes forward, giving you access to the cart. You can take a nut from the cart, but you can't open the locked box yet. Go back to the park. Use the nut on the squirrel in the tree for a medallion. Solve the hidden objects challenge for puzzle pieces. Go back a screen. Use the medallion on the plate on the ground for puzzle pieces. Return to the horse. Use the puzzle pieces on the locked box in the cart for a puzzle. You want to move the lock pieces around so they colors match, and the number of metal pieces covering them match. That is, the up/down metal pieces both have two prongs, while the top one has one prong and the bottom one has none. Solving the puzzle gets you shield. Go back two screens. Use the shield on the bench for a gear. You have three gears. Use them on the mechanical chest in your inventory for chips. Go back to the park. Use the chips on the base of the statue for a puzzle. You want to move the pieces around to form the picture that is already inscribed on the statue. Solving the puzzle gets you gems. Use them on the medallion. Use your medallion on the ghost vines by the horse to clear this area. Go forward to Grey Hill Street. 003d. Grey Hill Street ----------------------------------------------------------- Take the brush and the milk from the cart here. Kate's Father is in the house on the right. Use the key to get inside. Talk to him, and he gives you a flask. If you fill it with good feelings from three sources, it will defeat Diva. A more thorough explanation is hidden here in the house. Look at the fireplace. Use the brush here for a lever. Looks like you need some pieces to put into place here! Look at the books on the shelf. Move them aside, then move the various metal pieces aside to reveal a symbol. With the metal pieces, you can only move the piece that is above all the others. Go back a screen, then go down the street. See the cat on the left? Use milk on the windowsill to lure the cat away, giving you decorations. On the right, use the lever to smash the window. This gives you a stone button. Go back once. Use the decorations on the statue. You need to swap pieces to form full pictures. When all the pictures are finished, you get a stone button. Go back to Father's house. Use the stone buttons in the fireplace. Press all five of them in the correct order for a symbol. Use the symbol on the book for a treble clef. Use the treble clef on the dresser on the left for a puzzle. You want to use items from the drawers on each other. For example, use the square picture to open the square drawer. Solving all the puzzle gets you bolts, a drawing, and the explanation of how the flask works. You need a childhood drawing, poetry and art. You get to try out the flask yourself, with a childhood drawing. Use the drawing on the flask, then click on the highlighted parts of the drawing. Go back a screen. Use the bolts on the dynamite box, so you can move the lid. Take the dynamite. Go forward and use the dynamite on the carriage. Light the dynamite with a match. This blows it up, so you can go forward to a new area. 003e. The Hotel ----------------------------------------------------------- We start this area by finding some items, as our inventory is pretty empty right now. Look beneath the window for a scythe. Look inside the pot for some rope. Enter the hotel. In a drawer on the right is a counterbalance. Use the rope on the candelabra to the left for a rope with a hook. Go upstairs. Ghosts block your way to Room 22 here. Shoot. Look at the cabinet on the right. Use the counterbalance here, then pull both levers for a hidden objects challenge. Solve it for an arrow. Go back twice. Use the arrow on top of the signpost to get gems. Use the gems on your medallion. Go forward twice and use the gems on the ghosts. Once they're gone, use the scythe on the ceiling for a disk. Look out the window. Grab the wheel and the stick. Use your hook on the chest to get a book. Go back a screen. Use the wheel and the stick on the cabinet in the lower/left to smash it to pieces. Search through the wreckage for a rod. Go back once and use the rod on the window for an axe. Go upstairs, to the top floor of the hotel. Use the axe on the wooden beam, so you enter room 22. Inside this room is the true villain of the game, Diva's brother! His crystal lets him control the dead, and since Diva is dead, he is controlling her! The Knowing One shows up here, and he helps save you from a ghost. Look at the cabinet. Put the book here, then arrange the books in numerical order for a key. Go back twice, then use the key on the cabinet to the left for a lion's face. Go upstairs and use the lion's face on the panel on the left wall for yet another puzzle where you move pieces around to make colors match. Solving the puzzle gets you a book key. Enter Room 22. Use the book key on the books in the lower/right for paper. Use the paper on the typewriter here for a puzzle. You want to create the symbols shown on the paper. This gives you a poem! Use the poem on the flask to fill it. All we need to do now is fill it with art, and the flask will be ready! Open the typewriter for buttons. Go back a screen. Solve the hidden objects challenge for a hose. Go back twice. Put the buttons on the mailbox and press them in numerical order for a disk. Go forward. Use the disks on the door for a puzzle where you rotate the disks until each one is in place. Rotating one disk affects another. Solving the puzzle lets you leave the hotel and go forward to the artist's area. 003f. The Artist's Area ----------------------------------------------------------- Solve the hidden objects challenge here for a tumbler. Go forward once. Take the stick by the drain pipe. Zoom in on the fire hydrant. Use the hose on the hydrant, then turn the valve on the hydrant for another tumbler. The exit to this area is through the cellar, but it is locked with several locks, so instead of going through it now, go through the door to the right. Ah, this is the artist's house! I wonder who the artist is, and if they approve of Master Detective's breaking and entering. Not likely, I'd say! Take the handle from the desk on the left, then go back two screens. Use the stick on the curtain for sand and a belt. Use the handle on the fire hydrant here for a bust piece. Go forward. Use the bag of sand on the drain pipe for the final tumbler. Use the belt on the vines for a stone piece. Go back once and use the stone piece on the design for a puzzle. You want to flip all the various pieces to form a picture. This gives you a bust piece and a burner. Go into the artist's house. Zoom in on the table to the left. Put the burner down, and put the blue thing on top of it. Click where the fire is to start the fire, and the blue thing melts to give you a key. Use the tumblers on the locked case here. Open it with the combination (written on top of the case) for a brush. Use the brush on the painting (on the easel) for a puzzle. Use the eraser to erase all the mistakes, then use the brush to draw the painting correctly. This gives you a painting and a key. Use the painting on the flask, and the flask is finally complete. Hooray! Go back twice. Solve the hidden objects challenge for glue. Return to the artist's house. Look at the broken bust. Put the glue and bust pieces here. Put the bust pieces into place, then put the brush in the glue and use the glue on the bust, for a bust. Go back twice. Use the bust in the hollow on the right. Switch the three busts around to the right spots, for a key. Go forward once. Use the keys on the cellar door for a puzzle. You want to put all the keys in the correct spots. Solving the puzzle gives you access to the next area. 003g. The Outdoor Stage ----------------------------------------------------------- We're starting off the final section of the game right, with a hidden objects challenge! Solve it for a file. Look at the brick area to the left. Use the file on the pipe here for a pipe and take the valve part. Go forward once. There's the stage! If you try to go to it, the statues stop you. Darn! Look at the column left of the left statue. Take the glass. Use the pipe for metal figures. Go back a screen. Solve the hidden objects challenge for a valve part. Use the two valve parts on each other. Look at the barrel on the right. Put the glass and the valve here to fill the glass. Use the glass on the bricked area to the left, for a metal figure. Go forward. Use the metal figures on the plaque to the right. Click the pieces to move them. This gives you a banner. Go down once. Use the banner on the banners to the right for a puzzle. You want to move the various banners up and down, to make a lined-up picture. Solving this puzzle gets you gems. Put them in your medallion. Go forward and use the medallion on the statues to destroy them. Take the gems and lever from the statue pieces. Go forward. Talk to the villain, and he summons ghosts. Use the lever on the levers to the left, then pull them down. Take the ring which is beneath the villain. Take the case from the opened hole, in the lower/left. Use the ring on it. Rotate the rings to form a picture, and you get gems. Use the gems on the medallion and use the medallion on the ghosts. Then, use the flask on the villain to stop him. Hooray, you saved Kate and stopped the villains! 003h. The Bonus Chapter ----------------------------------------------------------- Father's House -------------- The bonus chapter comes in the collector's edition of the game. Kate's father is kidnapped by an unknown person, and Kate wants you to help find him. Start by checking out the cart. Move the basket lid to see an oil thing. Move the feathers on the peacock for a key. Use the key on the lock for some forceps. Until the bag for a bottle. Use the bottle on the oil thing for a bottle of oil. Enter Kate's father's house. Go through the chair for a note and a copper disk. Take the post sign from the mirror on the left, and use the forceps on the cannon (on the mantle on the right) for a feather. Go back. See the workshop to the right? Use the post sign on the postbox there, for a palette. Use the note, feather and palette on the hands at the base of the statue for a metal ball and an emblem part. Go inside Father's house. Use the metal ball on the cannon, then use the candle here to light the cannon. This breaks the mirror. Use the forceps on the mirror to pull shards away, for the workshop key. Use the workshop key to enter the workshop, obviously. Look at the red pipe and take the skull. Go back a screen and use the skull on the cart for a form and a file. Go back into the workshop. Use the file on the red pipe twice, to get it. Go back to Father's house. Prop up the chair with the pipe for a puzzle piece and a violin. Return to the workshop. Use the violin on the violin outline, on the left side of the table. This gives you a ring handle, a screwdriver and a puzzle part. Use the two puzzle parts on the puzzle in the corner of the room. You want to press the parts, to lift up all the latches here. Look at the fire. Put the form down, then put the copper disk on it. Pick it up with the forceps. You have half of the gate lock. Return to Father's house. Put the book on the bookshelf and arrange the books, so they match the pictures. This gives you the second half of the gate lock. Go back outside. Use the screwdriver on the clock to open it. Put the oil on the gears for a gear. Use both parts of the gate lock on the gate to open it, giving you access to the next area. The Shop -------- Solve the hidden objects challenge for a sign. Go forward to the hotel. Use the sign on the signpost and flip signs, until each one shows a picture. This gives you a ring handle. Take the buttons from the front door. Go back. Use both ring handles on the suitcase, in the wreckage of the carriage. This gives you a safe handle and an emblem part. Use both emblem parts on the sign in the upper/right for a painting and part of a bell. Use the bell part on the bell to the left to open the shop. Enter the shop. Zoom in on the desk. Use the knife on the window for a book and a compass. Use the compass on the globe for a wreath. Use the wreath on the house for a key. Use the key and the gear on the box here to open it. It's a music box, but it needs dancers! Return to the hotel. Use the book on the door, then click on the book to open it. Go inside the hotel. Put the painting on the wall to the left, then move the paintings around to form a complete picture. This gives you buttons. Get the last buttons and a dog whistle from the stand on the right. Use all three buttons on the dresser to the left. Click them in the correct order to get a male dancer. Go back twice. Solve the hidden objects challenge for a female dancer. In the shop, use both dancers on the music box. This gives you the key to the police office. Look out the window and use the key on the police office door to get inside. Police Office ------------- Solve the hidden objects challenge for nippers. Go back outside. Use the nippers on the cage left of the door for a medallion and a harpoon. Use the harpoon on the scarf about the police sign for a scarf and clock hands. Use the clock hands on the clock to the right for a key card. Go back in the office. Use the key card on the machine on the desk, to punch holes in it. Use the key card on the dresser to the right to open it. Inside is another medallion and the jail cell key. Use the key to open the jail cell. Go in the jail cell, and the guard from the very start of the game appears. He locks you inside. How unkind! Move back the covers on the bed for a spring. Use the spring on the cabinet for a safe handle and some bread. Look at the wheel. Use the scarf on it. Then, use the scarf on the ferret's cage. Use the bread on the ferret for the key to the cell. Use the key on the lock to get out. Solve the hidden objects challenge for a rope ladder. Use both safe handles on the safe to open it for the final medallion. Go outside. Use the medallion on the well for a puzzle. You want to move the pieces around to form a picture. Solving the puzzle opens the well. Use the rope ladder here, then go down it. The Culprit's Lair ------------------ Take the pole from the upper/right, take the corkscrew from the pipe on the left, and take the rag from the ground. Use the corkscrew on the barrel for oil. Use the rag on the pole, then use the rag-covered pole on the oil to get it filled with oil. See the decoration on the left? Take a door lock and flint from it. Use the flint on your pole for a torch. Use the torch on the dark part of the room to exit, then use the dog whistle on the dog to get rid of it. Solve the hidden objects challenge for a valve piece, then go back once. Use the valve on the pipe to the left to get rid of the spider. This gives you a hammer and puzzle parts. Go forward. Use the hammer on the stump for a puzzle part. Solve the hidden objects for a winding key. Put the puzzle parts on the statue base for a puzzle. You want to make matches of three, until every piece has been removed from the board. Solving the puzzle gets you a door lock. Use it to open the door. Go inside. Kate's father is here. He wants you to remove the handcuffs which have him trapped. Look at the table in front of him. Take the jar and the stone piece. Go back twice. Use the stone piece on the design for part of a painting. Go forward once. Use the jar on the fire to put it out. This gives you coal. Go back to Kate's father. Use the coal on the paper on the desk for the second painting. Use both paintings on the painting board on the wall. Click on the paintings for a lock piece. Use the lock piece on the handcuffs for a puzzle. You want to move the pieces on the left, so they match the pieces on the right. Solving the puzzle frees Kate's father. He gives you a chest, when the culprit appears. It's the guard, and he's holding Kate hostage! Use your winding key on the box, then give it to the guard.
