------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't Chat With Strangers Walkthrough Explored and Written by 91210user ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Introduction 2. Interactions 3. Walkthrough 4. Other Notes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Introduction ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't Chat with Strangers is a short point and click adventure game. You take control of a male who wakes up to find a girl has lured (and seduced?) him by messenger. The guy tries to finds out who she really is and why she is messaging him but the character is locked in and can't escape only to find that if he does try, he dies and often in very silly and ridiculous ways. This guide will explain how to finish the game only with how the game works as there's alot of unfortunate paths, some of which led to achievements and other times just because it is believed some people like how the game ends with a few cases of YouTube videos to show this. There is a quick walkthrough on Steam by Malkavian in the community guide section. It doesn't fully detail how the player got the result and all the other ways the player needs to progress the game safety. It may be very slim and to the point but there are other elements that allows you to survive a lot towards the end to consider which aren't noted maybe to make the walkthrough short. Link to his guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=838316578 The FAQ wouldn't cover the achievements. Feels a bit dumb having to explain the many of the achievements being based on the player suffering a mental breakdown and dying to obtain an achievement. Can't really call that an 'achievement'. Others achievements are how well you play the Mech vs Fruit minigame and reach until level 10 and how to progress naturally in the game. Not really much to it. This walkthrough does contain spoilers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Interactions ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- List of objects which can be clicked and interacted with to help complete the game. Room Objects Interactions - Bed Used to get sleep. Doesn't really affect the game as much. - Radio Used to cover the other sounds. Needed towards the end of the game but can't be switched on after the lamp is turned on. - Lamp Used as a detering light source, can be turned on and off but is needed to complete the game to be turned off, or the bed monster would be summoned. - Computer Used to chat with the unknown female and play two games. The minimal monotonus Buttons game and an arcade shooter Mech vs Fruits. Also has an error log during the game. - Phone Used to make phone calls. Required to make a phone call to the girl when she gives you her phone number. Staying on the phone for too long would result the character from begin electriculed. One of the more interesting to notice is that the numbers for the USA, UK and Europe emergery services would trigger the other death scene of the vehicle appearing to crash into the character. Emergercy numbers for the game, just like their real life counterparts. UK = 999, USA = 911, EU = 112 - Door on the left Used to turn off the gas pipes or remove the gas. Helps the character focus a bit and not think they're getting killed by a ghost. It can also can trip a death scene for the character to grab pills and overdose thus ending the game. - Latin Cross Found on the wall above the bed, can be rotated which doesn't represent and result well for the character. Rotating this upside down will summon a giant Latin Cross where the screen flashes and the character gets crufified. Not sure how that happens. - Window Will allow the character to exit their room onto the outside of their house. Can access car! - Robot Can't be interacted with. The robot becomes a alive and will zap the player. Not sure how to activicate this. Computer Interactions - Chat A better term to explain this software would be messenger, used to chat with the unknown female messaging the character. - Error Log Will appear when the computer gets restarted during the course of the game. Required to look up the last messages sent by the female. - Mech vs Fruits An arcade shooter. Arrow buttons control the Mech and space bar shoots projectiles across the screen to destory the evil enemy fruit. - Buttons A monotous game. Can be played online. The girl also welcomes herself to play in a multiplayer game but only used to see how the character is like depending on how it's won. - System Update The character computer would receive an unavoidable message for the computer to require an update. This will restart to restarting the computer. Outside Objects and interactions - Car Used to travel to various other locations but can only be activated. - World Map A very fun looking world map. Used to travel to various locations. One of the locations is the characters place while the other locations are used as places to find the girls body. Not much else going on there. Clickable Graphic on map: - Characters apartment/house - Waterfall - Cabin - Abandoned Trainyard - Girl in White Dress on the ground/Corpse? Starts a minigame where the character has to dig a grave to bury the body of the other character. Using space bar digs and fills the grave site. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Walkthrough ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You begin the game with the unnamed male character, who will immediately wake up and head towards the chair as the computer received a message. Before engaging into anything on the computer screen like the conversation. Click on the radio to turn it on then, click on the lamp close by to turn the lamp light on. Notice the exclamation mark (!) above the computer which hints that a message as been received along with the sound effect that came along with it. Appears everytime the game starts or when the character is away from the computer and the unknown female is trying to message you. You must turn on your radio before the lamp. If you turn on your lamp and then try to turn the radio, the radio would explode killing the character. One of the many death scenes this game imposes for fun. You can do this however if you want the achievement. Why it explodes? I don't know! A good hint maybe how it is used during the game in order to complete it, so the game forces you to turn the radio on before the lamp. The lamp helps to prevent the monster to appear which is a shape of a snake or a rod to crawl and enter your bedroom and hides under your bed. Another death scene awaits. Again, I really don't know. Again the shape hints what it could look like. I really don't know or don't want too know! Now chat with her. There is a very fast way to end to another section. When you talk with her, she will ask you how you are. Just reply with "Same". This will mostly lead you to the next section without any trouble. The other questions and answers are just a way if you wanted to know the character a bit more or simply just want to push her around. Pushing her around, insulting her or lying and being cruel would end up being a game over with the way the game gets the character. When she gets upset and asks you to apologize, do so to get back on track to progressing the game. She will also play buttons, a button mashing game before the next section. If she does, win but don't win with alot more points when she does. Maybe 1 or 2 points ahead but that's it or it would be game over. Worth experimenting with the other conversations if you are bored to find out the character a bit more but leaving a negative impression on her will more likely end the game with more game over scenes. Some of which would be that she doesn't like the character and leaves. Doing this will result in a disturbing game over screen when the character finds out she has left the conversation. If she asks what your favourite color is, never choose Black, she isn't a fan of the dark. Other times, the character would hallucinate and have visions of the female entering the room in a ghost appearance to slit the throat of the character thus killing him and ending the game. (Or he could have killed himself, who knows). This ending the game. Gives you an achievement if you haven't got this. This is best avoided by killing on the door on the left, having the character to exit. Click back at the computer or any other object to re-enter the room to interact again. The latin cross would go upside down sometimes if you spend long. This very unnoticale. This will resort in a big giant latin cross to be summoned in the characters room. Why? I seriously don't know! The screen would change with the character preforming a crufix on himself. Really, into why? I don't know. Maybe another scene the developer wanted someone to find for them to record and upload onto YouTube since death scenes from games are common now-a-days. Putting the cross back into the original position is too late and wouldn't stop the game over from being active and to occur. For the lasagna question, to if the character wants to try it (look up Urban dictionary and see what she really means by lasagna), always better to answer "One day, I will" if she asks you if you want to try lasagna. The other answers will trigger a brizzare death scene. The over-dose scene. You'll hear something like a pipe burst and gas coming out of a pipe noise. This will cause the player not to feel well. Answering "No" when the girl asks you if the character is okay and clicking onto the door will have the player take pills and going to bed, resulting in suicude. The robot I'm not sure about. Been told that playing the Mechs vs Fruit game and losing many times with the character and to walk back and forth in the room and the robot would come alive to zap the character into pieces. I will have to confirm this when I try that. ... and if the girl in the chatroom scares you so much and you decide to have the character call American, UK or European emergency services, like 999, 911 and even 112. The characters vehicle will appear to crash into the player unlocking another achievement if you haven't got. ... and if that doesn't work and not in mind, try to escape via the window and reaching toward the car, somehow the car has a mind if it's own and would run into the character thus killing him. So there's no escape until you'll actually finish the game as intended. So after speaking to her for a while, she will ask what you sound like and offer to call you. Reply with "Why not" and she'll give you her number however the computer needs an update telling you that the updates need to be installed. Click to update and the computer needs to restart. Now the computer has restarted. Avoid the chat program. You'll be in a nasty surprise if you head back to the chat program resultiing in another (cheap) games over. Head to the Error Log and find her phone number she left. Use the number to call her by using the phone near by. Because of the amount of times the game can be over until you could actually complete the game, this is the hardest part of the game in my opinon because you'll have to call the number which appears but you wouldn't need it again, so you are better trying to remember the number. If you want pen and paper, fine but it wouldn't be worth it. Every playthrough will give you an entirely different number. The first three numbers are always the same... 555 and the next three are closely the same 514 or 511 and the last set of numbers are automatically generated. Clearly designed not to have the same phone number after every playthrough, so quickly remembering those numbers are be a challenge itself. Call her. Listen to the sounds once she picks up. You will hear a river bank and some leaves rustling, or distinguishable rail road noises. This, later, will lead you to reveal the location of what you are looking for when have a chance to go outside when the game allows you too. The radio is still on, clearly to drown the noises heard which is part of the game. Stay on the phone until she chats to you. The chat messager would receive a message with the exclamation mark with the noise to let you know. So head back to the chat message. This time, she will ask you what your favourite hobbies are. Click "Playing Video Games" will advance the conversation. Studying swords will creep her out and force her to leave the conversation resulting in another game over. She'll ask you which is your favourite video game. Select Mech vs Fruits. The other choices. Clicking River Raid will result in an instant suicide for the character thus ending the game. Clicking Buttons as a choice,... I'll let you have fun seeing the outcome of that. Not a game over screen thankfully! So you'll left with Mech vs. Fruits so go with that. She will ask if you have beaten it. Select "No". You don't want to tell her that you have finished the game, considering the game has 10 levels and they are very hard and often unfair at times and would most likely get a game over trying to reach the level. So play Mechs Vs Fruits. The first three levels are easy and it gets rather challenging shortly after. An extra challenge is having to control the gas which is turned on in the other room which could be heard. Try to get the mech in a safe place on the screen and click on the door on the left after finishing a few levels. This will turn off the gas and help you reach the other levels. It will also help you play the game again if you need to restart it. A few tips to finish the minigame quickly and at to level 6. Unfortunately the character alignment to what appears on screen is misleading. You'l always think the mech is looking forward, not there's no left or right graphic to show which way the mech is facing. This is confusing. Sometimes the mech would even start where the enemies appear resulting in cheap game overs within the mini-game. The mech character has a free shot when the level starts. So this will help to kill a fruit on the screen before they attack, thus helpping you advance the game quickly. Once you reach level 6. She will message you again. This bit is tricky. She will ask you if you want to hear her play a song. Select YES. After you answer, QUICKLY close chat/minimize the window to the desktop screen and don't read the messages you sends you because she will leave the conversation and the character would kill himself again. Wait until the piano music is played from your radio. That's it. There's nothing else more to do in your bedroom. Now click on the window on the left to exit the bedroom to end outside. Click on your car. Now you're taken to a map screen. The bottom left is your apartment. Clicking this would just reach back to your apartment. Top left is waterfalls, Top right is the cabin and bottom right is the trainyard. On this screen, the noise you've heard when making a phone call is the location of what you may be looking for and hinted too. So you'll have to head to that location however there is a twist. You get the location wrong the first time and not find what is expected to be found, then you'll be in for a surprise which will lose the game but continue if you want to get the achievement for that. So once you get used to the map. Click to go to where you think you'll find what you'll find, Select the place you heard the noise where you think it came from to phoned her. It will either be by the waterfall, an empty cabin in the woods or an abandoned railroad. So, when you find the body, you'll have to start burying the body that you've found. Digging the grave is done by hitting the spacebar many amount of times. After hitting the spacebar rapidly for a few times, the character automatically places the girls body into the dug space. Again, once this is done, hit the spacebar many times to begin to bury her and to finish the burial. That's it. You've won the game once you done that bit correctly. Get the game finished by earning yourself the achievement on Steam and there's nothing much to it. No end cutscene or next level or whatever. A bit dumb, the character doesn't call the police or services and try to ID her body or give her a proper funerial. Maybe a training simulation and buried a mannequin or lost robotic humanatized prototype instead. Who knows. The End! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.
